Ms. McDevitt read Father's speech from his speech book # 38, titled "Path of Life." In the speech Father said,

"There are two things that will never change in the world: the function of your conscience and the love of your parents."

"What kind of person is a good person? It is the person that behaves as their mind tells them to do."

"Before you live for the sake of others, your mind need to be united with 천정 (Cheon Jeong: heavenly emotions, heavenly love.) first"

"Since mind and body are equal in power, they fight to win. Therefore what religion does is to strengthen mind and to weaken the body. So fast and pray, and sacrifice yourself for the sake of others. Then your mind can dominate your body, and after a certain period of time, it will become habitual."

"When you reach that level, you can feel that Heaven is helping you accomplish what you want to realize. Then you can manage your life centering on your absolute conscience, and this is the purpose of practicing religion."

The following are some of Father's words after the reading.

"Where are we now? The nation and the (Korean) president are the issues now. What I wish is that the president of this country, who can decide things, have the mindset to adapt himself to God's providence, but he doesn't have it. The issue is whether or not what they (he and his people) decide and want to do is still within the acceptable range. If they only want to do as they want, I must eternally cut off my relationship with them. If their 정서 (Jeong Seo / 情緖: love, emotion, feeling, sentiment) is more advanced than ours, we have to follow them, and if our 정서 is advanced, they must follow us. There aren't two ways but there is only one way."

"There are east, west, south, and north. If you can't solve the problem in the east, you can do it in the west, If you can't solve the problem in the west, then go to the south, and north. If you can't do it yet, do it at the center. If you still can't solve the problem, do it at the pillar."
