I am happy to see you all. [Applause] Please be seated. We have already been here for some time this morning. You have taken part in Hoon Dok Hae and heard a good sermon. You also watched a video clip and listened to a good report. Do you still need me to speak? [Yes!]

I think everybody does this, but when we get a new pencil or fountain pen, even as adults we tend to write something. From my childhood, strangely enough I liked to write the word tongil [unity]. When I think back, I think the word tongil has strengthened me over a long time.

Our goal in attending God is ultimately to complete Cheon Il Guk.

This must first begin from oneself, from the individual. According to Father, the kingdom of heaven can be established when two people become one. This is heaven, as he said. How can a person unite mind and body to become a totally unified person and pursue such a life? I think this is the most basic issue we need to work on in our life of faith. That's why I have said: Before you criticize things that are wrong, you should start with the words "I offer thanks in front of Heaven." Those people who can say thank you honestly and without reserve are the ones who have been following that path, aren't they? [Yes.] [Applause]

If you can stand on a foundation of oneness on the individual and familial levels, in the church, in your tribe, in your country and the world, one unified world centering on God will automatically be realized. Isn't that so? [Applause] Those who are determined to live such a life, please clap your hands. [Applause] If you live with such a mindset, Heaven will always be with you with the tasks you seek to do, and blessings will pour down.

Thank you.

True Parents [True Mother] arrived in Las Vegas on October 26, 2012. The next day, the 20th anniversary event of Women’s Federation for World Peace that had been planned before True Father’s Seonghwa was held successfully under True Mother’s guidance.

Afterwards, True Mother visited every corner of Lake Mead on True Father’s boat. There, she captured True Father’s spirit as Lake Mead had been the place that he had always gone and made Jeongseong conditions to lead the Las Vegas providence. [Soon after,] True Mother started a cross-country pilgrimage that was retracing, in reverse from west to east, the course she had taken with True Father 34 years ago to bless America. That way, she completed the providence symbolically in the elder son nation.

At dusk, True Mother, Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, and several of her daughter-in-laws take a walk in East Garden.

This pilgrimage, which was accompanied by True Father spiritually, took seven days from Las Vegas to New York and covered a total of 3,500 miles. It shows True Mother’s strong will and determination to lead the tradition and the providence that True Father had left behind.

On November 3, 2012, True Mother completed her pilgrimage when she departed from Boston to New York [and stopping by Bridgeport University]. The next day, she spoke to 2,000 members at the Manhattan Center and emphasized that True Parents’ tradition, and the providence will never be stopped and that all Blessed members should fulfill their mission and responsibility as Tribal Messiahs.

True Father worked publicly and earnestly for the sake of God's providence

For sixty years following the establishment of our church, True Father worked publicly and earnestly for the sake of God's providence. It is not an overstatement to say that he spent two thirds of that time, that is, forty years of his life, in America. Our eternal homeland is Korea, but he invested more in America. Why was that? He was thinking about all humankind. The great blessing that America is the eldest-son nation means it should gather the brothers together in unity and bring them to the parents. Have you been thinking about this, day and night?

To the world, at this time, and to this nation, True Father came and did his work as the returning Lord, the Messiah and the Savior. Given that, is it enough that you bring just a few blessed families? For more than sixty years of his life, True Father took responsibility, devoting himself to raising you, explaining that you are to fulfill the tribal messiah mission and bless 430 couples. If blessed families had fulfilled these responsibilities, we could have honored Father more gloriously when sending him off to Heaven. The world's six billion people could have seen with their own eyes that the Messiah's Second Advent had occurred and on that basis determined their own paths. We failed to prepare. We committed a serious sin in front of Heaven. Our wearing sackcloth, mourning bitterly and offering prayers of repentance for a year would be insufficient because the sin we have committed is too serious. The fact that we did not fulfill our responsibility is a serious sin. We only received love but we did not know how to share it. We ourselves did not grow.

Members meeting, New York, HC 9.22

True Father worked day and night without rest, throughout his whole life. (I also have never slept more than three hours a day from when I began attending True Father.) Therefore, we are tired throughout the day, aren't we? Because we are human. Now, True Father has gone to the spirit world. He transcends time and space and is working busily. I imagine he does not have time to sleep. Today, I speak to you in order to open the way not only for you but also for your descendants in the future.

Hak Ja Han Moon Embarks on Pilgrimage Bus Tour of the United States

Michael Balcomb
November 2, 2012

Immediately following the successful Women’s Federation for World Peace’s (WFWP) 20th Anniversary program in Las Vegas, “The Turning Point,” Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, affectionately known as Mother Moon, began a pilgrimage tour of the United States, visiting important historical and religious sites in a grueling journey that will cover about 2,700 miles in just one week.

Throughout her special 40 days of attendance to her late husband, the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, in Korea, following the Seonghwa (“Ascension”) ceremony on September 15th, Mother Moon has been emphasizing the importance of returning to the founding spirit of the Unification Church. She has continuously reminded us of the early days when members lived with a very close connection to her and Father Moon, or “True Parents,” and where churches everywhere were filled with the Word of God and the teaching of the Divine Principle. She also took time during that period to visit many of the holy grounds, workshop sites and church facilities where Father Moon had invested so much throughout his 75 years of ministry in Korea.

Now, it’s America’s turn. Right after concluding the 40-days vigil in Korea, Mother Moon came to Las Vegas, the city that Father Moon chose as his special focus in the final years of his life. At the WFWP event, Mother Moon again emphasized the importance of restoring Las Vegas from “sin city” to a “shining city” that honors God.

This week, she has been visiting some of the historical holy grounds and other sites across the country where True Parents have poured out so much time and effort during their 38 years in the United States. “Mother Moon wants to reconnect with roots of our traditions in America,” says Dr. Chang Shik Yang, continental director of the United States. “And she wants to recall the days when she and Father visited all fifty states in the early years, and during the Day of Hope Tours of the 1970s.”

Mother Moon is accompanied on the pilgrimage tour by Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, the new Unification Church President in the United States, and by his wife Yeon Ah Moon. Kwon Jin Moon and Sun Jin Moon’s families are also in attendance together with other members of Mother Moon’s family, the “True Family,” Dr. Yang and a few other leaders.

HakJaHan-121102-2.png

“It is a tough schedule,” said Dr. Yang. “We are averaging around 500-600 miles a day, which is many long hours on the bus.”

Typically, the group makes three or four short stops a day, visiting not only holy grounds and church sites, but also significant sights, both natural and man-made, that had inspired Father Moon, a great lover of nature and admirer of human ingenuity during his work here in the United States. These have included natural wonders such as the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona and the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, as well as great feats of engineering such as the Hoover Dam and the St. Louis Memorial Arch, which was just being completed when Father Moon had first visited the city in 1965.

So far the tour has visited Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Missouri, with upcoming stops planned for Niagara Falls, Boston, and Gloucester, where Father Moon had fished for tuna for so many years. The final visits are expected to include Bridgeport University, just now emerging from the aftermath of “Superstorm” Sandy (the entire student body was briefly evacuated) and the Unification Theological Seminary in Barrytown, before returning to East Garden in Westchester, New York.

I told you that I had established a scholarship foundation. I have said that I was going to sell True Father's Helicopter and bus to make seed money. I have established a graduate school with 2 years of Divine Principle education similar to a military academy which will recruit university graduate students with good score.

Through this graduate school course, we will center on the Divine Principle and teach all possible liberal art classes that are needed in every aspect. We will also educate them to become substantial leaders through field practices, and we will educate through activities as well.

Cadets who graduate this course must dedicate themselves for 3 years of public mission. During the process, if one thinks certain work fits him/her, we are going to lead them to work there and train them as a leader in that area.

Leader! UPA will open the door to train them as leaders for those who want to work in the company where fits for them. It will be more famous than West Point in the US, which is a world-renowned academy. We will train them very hard, and UPA will become a famous place where its students can equip themselves with everything they need to become leaders. It is a graduate school to train leaders. We are going to give them such tough training and make many future leaders. Have hope.

Training should not be easy. Unification Church is a denomination which prepares a finishing blow through tough and cruel training. It is an organization which represents a matter of thought. We, therefore, should have such pride.

Women’s Federation Convocation Concludes with Gala

The more than 500 participants of the Benefit Gala conclude the three-day WFWP conference with a enthusiastic wave at the camera.

After a heartfelt message of re-determination from the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, attendees of WFWP’s 20th Anniversary National Assembly took part in the “Art and Healing Networking Expo” on October 27, 2012. The expo, titled “Woman, Heal Thyself,” featured several hour-and-a-half “Breakout Sessions” led by health experts and more than fifty tables exhibiting products and services from vendors representing various WFWP chapters. The three-day assembly from October 25-27, 2012 was held at the M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas.

At 7:00 p.m., the doors opened for the Benefit Gala, the proceeds of which were given to local Las Vegas social service organizations. The gala included a three-course gourmet meal, remarks from various women activists, award presentations, a silent auction for items such as plane tickets to Korea and luxury rooms at the Aria Hotel. Entertainment included a comedian and a band composed of Unificationist-born youth from California.

Lisa Carol Williams was awarded the “Herstory Award,” which celebrates extraordinary accomplishments of ordinary women. Williams was honored for raising more than $1.3 million and working more than 60 hours a week to raise awareness about child prostitution.

The evening concluded at 10 p.m., bringing to a close WFWP’s three-day National Assembly, which many came to say was appropriately titled “The Turning Point” in that they had come away renewed, refreshed and re-determined to bring peace from the local to the global level.

Mimi Morse on Family Faith Empowerment Education Federation

One of the highlighted speakers at the event was Mimi Morse, president of Family Faith Empowerment Education Federation (FEEF) and executive director of marketing for the Las Vegas Bellagio Resort and Aria Resort, who dedicated her work with FEEF to the late Unification Church Founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

“Last year, True Father and True Mother told me about their plans to host the WFWP 20th anniversary here in Las Vegas, and I was extremely excited for that,” she told her audience of more than 500 women and supporting husbands from around the nation.

“I met Rev. Moon three years ago here in Las Vegas, while I was struggling financially, working two jobs and raising my daughter. I knew right away he was a great man. I wanted to do everything I could to make Father and Mother Moon happy. Until I met Father and Mother Moon, I have always had this guilty feeling of not being able to treat my parents well and never having the chance to take care of my biological parents because they passed away 27 years ago. But I feel by honoring Father and Mother Moon I am honoring my biological parents too.

“Father Moon asked me 18 months ago to educate people. In June 2012, I registered my non-profit (FEEF) and by August 10th, I had 340 people join my organization. On August 13th, Father Moon fell ill, but I gathered more than 300 people at FEEF’s inauguration on August 14th, and Father and Mother Moon were very happy.

“When I first started working on my organization, my husband joked, ‘Honey, I thought the Unification Church was about family. But we don’t spend much time together.’ I told him, ‘In the Unification Church, if the wife is doing her mission, the husband cooks. If the husband is doing his mission, the wife cooks. Regardless, both husband and wife are working together in spirit.’

“With True Mother’s and True Father’s love and support, we now have a great foundation to help our Las Vegas community.

“We firmly believe that the family is a school of love. Parents are the role models for children. Children observe everything that their parents do and learn from their behavior. Therefore, our guiding principle is to empower parents and youth through education that supports their moral, emotional and intellectual development to help resolve our differences. Our main goal is to educate our parents to teach our children love and self-respect. I ask anyone and everyone that I meet to donate money to our organization. If you don’t have money, donate your time. We accept either one.

“Thank you so much for coming to Las Vegas. It is a great honor to be with all of you again. My heart is with True Mother and I am so excited that we have Mother Moon as a leader with True Father supporting her.”

Sunday Morning Hoon Dok Hae with Mother Moon

The morning after the Benefit Gala, Angelika Selle, president of WFWP USA, and various other WFWP representatives attended Mother Moon’s Hook Dok Hae session at Father and Mother Moon’s Las Vegas residence. The session, led by Mother Moon, lasted for an hour and a half and was attended by approximately 80 people, many of whom were Unificationist-born youth.

“I couldn’t understand the English translation provided during Hoon Dok Hae, but suddenly I heard my name called by Dr. Lan Young Moon, and then I was asked to give a report to True Mother,” said Selle. “I hadn’t been prepared with any materials, nor had I anticipated that I would be asked to speak, so I spoke straight from my heart. I spoke about Father, about all the women who had contributed to the event without financial compensation. For our conference, we received 44 proclamations from governors, mayors, local government officers, etc., which was profound, and 140 ads from around the country. What I said seemed to be what Mother hoped to hear, because she became so happy.

“When Mother began talking about her upcoming tour of America to visit the places Father had visited years ago, she had this smile on her face that showed us how excited she was. She showed us the map that plotted out her trip, which will end on the East Coast at East Garden at the beginning of November.”

Feedback from Participants of the National Assembly

Netta Johnston, representative of WFWP in Wisconsin: “Everyone was so inspired at the conference. It was a whole other atmosphere. Even with all the different things going on in the church, you could come here and find focus.”

Dawn Bacchus-Horan, a representative of WFWP in Saint Vincent in the Grenadines and Florida: “This conference has been amazing. To me, it is definitely a turning point in the sense that it represents the culmination of all of the work that we’ve done over the past 20 years. The information that we gathered from the conference is so very important, and we want to use it to advance our work in Florida. We have more or less made a pledge amongst ourselves to use the material we get from this conference and implement it. This conference represents so much that we can do as women to highlight the problems in community and be like family through extended family values. It’s phenomenal.”

Elizabeth Aihe, a representative of WFWP in Washington, D.C.: “Sometimes you hear things, but when you hear them again, there are points that you’ve already heard that hit you like never before. What was shocking for me was to find out the prevalence of human trafficking within the United States, which a lot of people think takes places only in other countries. Attending the conference was a very informative and touching experience.”

Jane Karimi, WFWP representative from Kenya: “The world of men is coming to an end. Of course, we still need them in that we need to work together, but this is truly a turning point.”

Toni Curry, representative of WFWP in Oregon: “It’s great to see women come together. I think it’s really important to mark a commemorative date after 20 years of work, as this conference does. What I see here is a lot of people with real dedication to a lot of interesting projects. I see a lot of potential when I see what the other WFWP chapters are doing. There’s synergy there, a lot of good energy.”

Christina Kartel, administrative assistant of WFWP USA: “Considering the time constraints we had, I think we pulled it off well. I got a lot of good, positive feedback from guests. People were pleased with the format and enjoyed the Breakout Sessions, which we’ve never done before. I’m sure we’ll do something very similar next year. Obviously, people were impacted by the fact that True Mother was coming. The whole event went so fast and had so much content, and I was impressed that so many people attended.”

Angelika Selle, president of WFWP USA: “I believe that we have truly entered a turning point, that the theme has become real for many of the participants and organizers. According to the feedback we’ve received, many were deeply impacted, healing took place, and many came away with renewed confidence. People want to contribute. Our Japanese Kodan team got $50,000 worth in advertisements and donations, which was astounding.

“Also, the GWPN, of which I am the vice president, was a success. The GWPN, launched in Korea by True Parents on July 16, 2012, is a project off of WFWP that will go beyond WFWP as we work with other organizations and government officials to create a change on the global level. It will be a catalyst for bringing other NGOs together to create a greater voice, approaching high-level women in different organizations, businesses and governments around the world. The next international GWPN will probably take place in Korea, around Foundation Day, and will address the pertinent and crucial issue of building healthy families. Dr. Lan Young Moon was very happy with our event and even said that it is a model for WFWP in other nations to follow.”
