Former Uruguay President Luis Alberto Lacalle recently attended the International Leaders’ Conference (ILC) hosted by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) at the Victoria Plaza Hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay.

“I met Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification for the first time when I was in office,” said Lacalle, who served as Uruguay President from 1991 to 1995. “It was an honor to have been able to invite him to Uruguay. Rev. Moon is a man of peace and deep faith, as he is a very important person to Uruguay. I met him again afterwards in New York and participated in many of his peace events….”

Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, who founded the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) together with the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon, H of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, hosted the UPF International Leaders’ Conference.

Sun Jin Moon, the daughter of Rev. Moon and Director-General of the FFWPU International Headquarters, delivered Dr. Han’s message at the UPF ILC.

The ILC was held in the Victoria Plaza Hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay over the course of three days. The former President of Uruguay Luis Alberto Lacalle, two-time former President of Uruguay Julio Maria Sanguinetti, the wife of former President of Uruguay Jorge Batlle, the wife of former President of Uruguay Jorge Pacheco Areco and about 300 other participants were in attendance.

UPF International Chairman Chang Shik Yang, UPF International President Thomas Walsh, UPF South American Regional Chair Dong Mo Shin, UPF North American Regional Chair Ki Hoon Kim and many other UPF core executives assembled for the conference.

Under the title, “Towards a New Paradigm of Peace and Human Development in Latin America,” leaders from each South American nation came forward to share their methods for lasting peace in their nations and for the construction of a peaceful world…

Two-Time Uruguay President Sanguinetti Coirolo: “Rev. Sun Myung Moon and the Revolution of Family, Religion and Peace”

Julio Maria Sanguinetti Coirolo (78), former President of Uruguay, attended the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) International Leadership Conference (ILC) headed by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.

The ILC, held at the Victoria Plaza Hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay, was attended by about 300 people, including Coirolo, former President of Uruguay Luis Albert Lacalle (73), Catholic priests and Protestant pastors. Coirolo is one of Uruguay’s top leaders, having served two terms in office from 1985 to 1990, and again from 1995 to 2000.

Question: What is your relationship with Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon?

“I first met them in the presidential office in Uruguay. We had a very meaningful conversation. Many religious leaders think that Uruguay is opposed to religion. Yet, this is a prejudiced view, and it is not true. We hold a neutral stance even within religion. Uruguay is traditionally Catholic. However, we treat all religions equally. Rev. Moon was surprised when he saw that I did not conform to one specific religion. Rev. Moon and I were able to understand and share each other’s values. After that, we formed many bonds with each other over a long period of time. Rev. Moon and I share the same basic value system and relate to each other through that. Those values are that of protecting the family, harmonizing with different religions and protecting peace.”

Question: What do you think about Rev. Moon and Dr. Han’s peace movements in the Middle East, Unification Movements between North and South Korea, as well as between North and South America?

“We are living in a global world. All of the information in the world can be accessed in mere seconds. Relationships between nations are different from before. We are now connected to each other via the Internet. Yet, we are still surrounded by conflict and strife. The reasons for going to war have changed from the past. The Cold War was the period between 1945 and 1989, between America, the victor of World War II, and the Soviet Union. When the Berlin Wall came down, we all thought that we would be entering into an era of eternal peace. But that did not come true. I want to first discuss the ideological war, which has emerged in the world from the wreckage of the Cold War. This relates to Korea’s current situation. Are you not of the same race? I believe that there is a very important meaning to the movement for peace in the Korean Peninsula that Rev. Moon led. The second point I would like to discuss is that of the discord between religions. This can be seen in the Middle East. Unlike Korea, whose internal conflicts deal with ideological differences, the fighting in the Middle East arose from religious differences. The third point is that of the conflict between nations, such as that between the former Soviet Union, Russia and Ukraine. This is a conflict that has arisen due to differences in nationality. The final point is that of conflicts and wars arising due to trafficking. In Latin America, this has mainly been occurring in Mexico and Colombia. There are four different types of conflicts in the world. These are the wreckage of the Cold War, the conflicts over religions, nations and trafficking. There is a deep introspection within Rev. Moon’s peace movements that involve all of these kinds of conflicts. This is why I believe in the significance of the Unification Church and the succession of Rev. Moon’s peace movements…”

A Message of Hope for Humankind as We Welcome Spring - II

This is the second spring that we have welcomed since the introduction of the Cheon Il Guk heavenly calendar. Spring is the season of hope. It is a precious season through which our dreams can rise higher, grow bigger, and expand wider.

Despite the beautiful season, we hear horrific and indescribably painful news from this country and from the world. This phenomenon can be compared to the world’s people being on a ship that lacks sailors, a captain and even a compass and thereby experiencing deep insecurity, not knowing when or how well the ship will face strong winds and high waves or if it may sink by hitting a rock in its way.

As we watch these incidents take place, blessed members of the Unification Church around the world and Unification soldiers should stand up. We can no longer just look on and wait. We should not keep the blessing that has been bestowed upon us to ourselves. If we think of the seven billion people struggling like orphans, we must educate them and let them know that our Heavenly Parent lives within True Parents and is working with True Parents. It is in this light that as of yesterday I relocated the FFWPU International Headquarters to Cheon Jeong Gung. Our Heavenly Parent has begun a period through which he will directly visit this holy ground and command the providence. Isn’t this something we should feel thankful for?

The blessing cannot remain ours alone. Not only are you true children that resemble True Parents but you should be in the position of the originators of a noble bloodline once you fulfill your missions as tribal messiahs. We need to take action to fulfill all these responsibilities. We can no longer wait. Many people across the world are still dying, unaware that True Parents are alive and well at this very moment. When we think of our brothers and sisters living in misery— not knowing the providence and without having received the amazing blessing of Heaven, even though they live in the same age as the True Parents, and being aware that that blessing has been bestowed on us for the first time in six thousand years—we cannot avoid rolling up our sleeves and taking action with all our strength. You must confidently proclaim True Parents and testify that this nation and world cannot live without True Parents. Let us offer gratitude to Heaven for being here at this very moment. Let Us Bring the World Back to God

Did you enjoy this morning’s Hoon Dok Hae? True Father loved nature. He particularly loved the sea. In order to resolve the food crisis that humanity may face in the future, he invested a lot of time into sea-related efforts. We will present the Seonhak Peace Prize on the third anniversary of True Father’s ascension. Please continue to study and research in the future because you must enlighten humanity. A crisis is drawing near on earth.

I climbed several high mountains in the Alps and even explored an ice cave. This ice cave had actually been melting since the days of the Roman Empire. It was quite dumbfounding. This phenomenon is not happening only in the Alps. Alaska is going through the same situation. The ice is melting while the sea level keeps rising. Increasingly, human beings will face threats to their survival. The earth is being destroyed because of bad human habits; this must be stopped. We must stop it. The earth must be saved. We must enlighten people to return to nature.

Our Heavenly Parent created the heavens and the earth, dreaming of loving humanity. Can we let earth be destroyed when we have not even been able to bring it back into God’s bosom? We cannot do that. Hence, those who become aware of this first, must educate others so that such a thing does not happen. You must attend True Parents. Neither present day laws nor systems can solve this. Just as I mentioned yesterday, we must carry out a movement to attend and serve God, the true owner. You must attend True Parents. Only through this path can humanity and the earth’s ecosystem survive. The True Grandchildren as well as you probably know this: Do you remember the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”? True Father watched many videos on coral reefs and would reflect on how the sea could be saved. Today, the coral reefs in the sea are all being destroyed due to human ignorance. Many have died and only a few survive. If coral reefs are destroyed, some fish species cannot survive. In other words, man’s survival is also effected. Do you understand?

Let us look at Europe today. Each country is competing against one another. Racial conflict is a problem. Religious people fight one another; they kill and destroy one another. What will you do about this? The result is clear if you just allow it to happen. There is no future. Right? Will you just stand idle and watch this happening? You must inform everyone in the world that True Parents have come. You should tell them, Brothers, we should not fight among ourselves. Let us all become one under our True Parents’ shade.

This path alone can save the nation and the whole of Europe. The entire world will be able to live together in harmony. These days, no matter what situation you may be in, you can use different kinds of methods. We live in an age where everyone connecting in a second through the internet is possible. Those who are old enough but do not have much power to move, can do it through the internet. Because of their love for humanity, True Parents worked hard beginning from the very bottom to realize a future free of misery and a secure and happy world. Now that Satan’s worldwide realm has been restored through indemnity, the doors have opened wide to the realization of a peaceful world but this depends on the capacity and the responsibility of those who know and attend God. Only when everyone joins in this effort can we live. We should all live together. Will you do that? I believe it will not be possible to conclude this event unless I sing. That is a fun but sometimes difficult tradition.

Didn't the history of our providence begin in spring? The founding of HSA-UWC and True Parents' Holy Wedding both happened in spring. There is no doubt that spring is a beautiful season when all living things can be full of life and sing a song of hope. We experienced many springs by the time we celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of HSA-UWC. It is now forty years since the start of the global mission. For forty years we lived through many springs in which we were filled with hope. However, in the course of these years, we have been unable to harvest the fruit of our efforts because of management failures. What was the problem? True Parents have now brought an end to the history of the providence of restoration through indemnity. This took six-thousand years. They opened a new era and we are now welcoming the second spring in this new era. What do you think about this? Shouldn't you be a bit different than you were in the past? If you had invested, it is now time to harvest regardless of which season it is. You have to harvest the fruit.

In that respect, I am saying that leaders today and past leaders have failed in their responsibilities. You must make time to repent and once again ask for Heaven's grace. In the Cheon Il Guk era, what kind of dreams do you have? If you embark on this path but become exhausted and fail to go on, you might think that others in future generations will carry on in your place. You might think that if those in our second generation fail to go on, some in the third generation will take up the task. I hope that the people here right now do not have that mindset. I will straighten things up again. I have studied ways to plant a healthier and more reliable seed in this new spring. I've come to the conclusion that things will not work if I entrust them to you. I have decided to remove all those that had worked in a high position in the past and am restructuring the system so that the International Headquarters will be under my direct control.

Last time I told you that when the Heavenly Parent originally created human beings, he did not bestow on them such a short lifespan. I was basically saying that human beings were created to live for 120 years or more. If HSA-UWC is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary, that would mean it is now sixty years old, right? That being the case, people in the world think that "Now it's time to make preparations to go to the next world." This is what they are saying. I would add to that statement, "When we make effort and do our best, Heaven will find that he needs us even more and will extend our lives." That is my conclusion. When I said that last time, the old ladies from the 36-couple blessing group clasped my hands and said, "Thank you. Thank you. As long as our physical bodies can move, we will take the lead in witnessing." They got it right.

In True Parents' position, creating an environment from scratch was tough. Where the proper environment was not in place, True Parents had to pave the way in the Cain-type world, the fallen world. If True Parents had not done this themselves, they had no one they could nominate in their place. Just to follow True Parents was difficult, and nobody else could take the lead in blazing a trail. True Father was born with good health and a strong build. He could have lived longer on earth. Don't you agree that he pushed himself so much because of you? One person has gone now and one person remains on earth. Will you help me or not? I've only started this recently but I walk thirty-minutes every day as exercise, to be an example so that you begin looking after your health. This exercise does not cost any money. It seems that you want to become a professional and believe you have to go to a gym to exercise but that method will not work. It will not work for people your age or those in my age group. It's best to walk naturally. How many months has it been since you last saw me? Do I look a bit younger?

It's important to get started. We have now welcomed spring in the second year by the heavenly calendar. I know that you are in the midst of preparations for the second anniversary of True Father's passing but you should be offering fruit to heaven each year around this season. You should offer results. You have failed to fulfill your responsibilities and are in debt to True Parents. There is no other way for you. That is why I went through great pains. You always talk about investing yourselves completely but I wonder to what extent you are putting your words into practice. From my understanding, the people who should be at their posts are not there. This cannot be "investing yourselves completely."

If you leave your post, it will be without an owner. How can it be managed? Would members increase? What is this year's motto? You should recite it like an incantation every morning and evening and live your lives while putting these words into practice. I asked myself how I could create a united world that the Heavenly Parent desires and offer it in my lifetime. It was a painstaking effort. Hence, I decided to reorganize our regions by language groups. English is not commonly used in all the world's nations. Aside from English, the major languages are Spanish, French and Arabic. About two-thirds of the world's population can be found in Asia. There is usually more loss than gain when resources are equally distributed by region, which is why I plan to focus on Asia. India and China are the nations that most represent Asia with 1.2 and 1.3 billion people respectively. What can we do with these nations? You might have heard already, but this is why I will be appointing special emissaries. I will give the same salary to each of these emissaries. I will tell them to use it as public funds. If they have a family, their wives should be responsible for the family.

In the past, there were two women that represented model mothers in Korea's Joseon Dynasty. The 50,000 bill in Korea features Saim Dang Shin; she is one. The other is the mother of Seok Bong Han. She raised him well despite being poor. I discovered that the scholar Seok Bong's Han hometown was in Gaeseong.

He taught himself how to write calligraphy from the age of seven and is famous for his calligraphic skills. Not having the money to buy paper, he practiced writing on the ground after wetting it with water. Hence, you cannot say that you are unable to do something because you didn't have the proper environment. This gentlemen passed the civil servants' exam, went on to become a minister, and also served as the governor of Gapyeong. Don't you see the connection with us? We should have the curiosity to find out such kind of connections, but you don't seem to have it. As for families, mothers in particular, should go forward pioneering the future with the heart that Seok Bong's Han mother had in raising her son. I tried appointing second-generation members but they only try to live comfortably. They don't have a pioneering spirit or anything. At that rate, they will not be remembered in history. I have repeatedly told you to become noble families. Becoming the originator of a noble bloodline is only possible while I am still alive. This moment is one through which you can reach the position of a forerunner and establish a noble family.

True Parents have no in-laws. All seven billion people are our children. I hope that each regional president invests everything in developing the church, developing the members and increasing the number of church members. The special emissaries that I appoint should utilize foundations such as that of UPF or WFWP to have exchanges with the government of their respective nation or region. I am telling you to establish connections with VIPs. Only then can a nation be restored. Otherwise, when will it ever be restored? This is evident in the history of Christianity. Didn't the entire nation accept Christianity based on the decision of the top leader?

Can we say that we cannot do the same in this age? That is not acceptable. You haven't been able to do so because of your inadequacy. Anyone inadequate must make effort in order to develop. You have to have hope. How many nations will we be able to restore by 2020? This is serious. Among those who are being appointed and sent out as special emissaries, some will already be special envoys. He or she should become completely one with the regional president and move in concert with him inside and out. That is why I am covering their costs so that they do not become a burden.

And to add, in relation to these special emissaries, the Cheon Jeong Won, which is based on the constitution, is now in operation and the Cheon Jae Won should also begin to play its role. In addition, all the special emissaries will also be appointed as the vice-heads of the Cheon Jae Won (Cheon Il Guk Foundation); hence, they should fully cooperate in creating the most modern system of producing accurate reports and guidelines to address financial issues in each region so that I can grasp each region's problems at a glance.

I am not pleased when a person in charge fails to stay in one location and instead goes to and fro to other places. You should do whatever it takes to plant roots and rub elbows with others.

The people here, including those who were newly appointed, need a way to survive. You should listen to a lecture on Happy Health. Not a day goes by without some kind of inconvenience in the lives of people. The world is filled with sick people. However, if you understand the basic principle of this machine, you will be able to heal many people who are in discomfort. If you can alleviate their pain, they will open their hearts to you. When this happens, they will listen to what we have to say. Wonhwa-do is fine, too, but this machine is a weapon that can immediately win the hearts of individuals. True Father made this for you. Why aren't you making use of it?

I can really be a difficult person. Still, when you see my face, do your hearts feel happy? Satisfied? I also want to be happy when I see your faces.

Rise Up and Tell the World About True Parents - II

Today we are in the second spring by the Heavenly Calendar of Cheon Il Guk.

Spring is the season of hope. It is a time when we can raise our dreams to a higher place.

However, in this beautiful season, the news that we hear from around the nation and the world is filled with sadness and conflict and is truly tragic. It is as if this world is on a ship without a captain or a compass. We are in unstable circumstances, like crashing after meeting a violent storm or sinking after hitting a rock. As we look at these problems, we, all Unificationist families around the world and all warriors of Unificationism, must rise! We cannot just sit idly and wait, doing nothing. We cannot keep the blessing we’ve received to ourselves. When we think about the 7 billion people who are suffering as orphans, we have to let them know that True Parents have been working with the Heavenly Parent.

In light of that, I have relocated the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) international headquarters to the Cheong Jeong Gung as of yesterday. Through this, I have opened the providence here in this holy ground where our Heavenly Parent can now rule and govern directly. Is that not something for which we can be grateful?

These blessings cannot remain only for ourselves. When we fulfill our mission of tribal messiahs, as true children who resemble True Parents, we will be in the position of ancestors. In order to fulfill this responsibility, we have to rise. We cannot wait any longer. Even at this very moment, there are countless people who are dying without knowing that True Parents are here and alive.

Even though they live in the same age as True Parents, they do not know this providential history. This is the first time that this has come about, after 6,000 years of suffering, and still they are not in the position to receive this grace and blessing and just pass away tragically. These are our brothers and sisters, and we need to think about them, and when we do, we need to roll back our sleeves, and rise up to the challenge.

We need to proclaim True Parents to the world without reservation and let everyone know that without True Parents, this world cannot survive. I believe that this is the only way in which we can give back for receiving the blessings that we have received from Heaven.

Therefore, I have divided the continents into language zones, and through this I want to give all humanity a chance and opportunity to participate in the heavenly providence quickly.

I have established special agents who will help fulfill the task of spreading the blessings in these continents. Eight special emissaries will testify of True Parents to all humankind with you, and stand in the front line to solve all problems. Named as the special envoy of True Parents for North and South America is Dr. Chang Shik Yang. So, all who are here today, please join your hearts as one. I would be grateful if you would set your hearts to this cause so that you are also participating in the journey with the special emissaries as they go. This special task will truly open the season of spring for the whole world.

I would like to conclude my speech by asking all members in the world to rise up until we reap the fruit. Thank you very much.

1945–2012: The Life of Rev. Dr. Moon and the Fulfillment of True Parents

In an excerpted portion, Rev. Young Hwi Kim offers his response to “How great are our True Parents?”

Rev. Kim references Proclamation—the Memorial Day of the Greatest Victory of Cheon Il Guk (God’s Heavenly Kingdom) by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon.

That was November 17–18, 2011, between two days. This is by the heavenly calendar; therefore this is almost the end of 2011, the last part of December. Father worked so hard to bring this day. Because of this he came to Las Vegas and then New York and back to Korea to do it again. It is unhealthy for old men to fly long distances. With the time lag, your body loses control, but Father did it anyway. He knew that, and I think he also already knew he didn’t have much time left of his life. Therefore he was so hasty and busy and worked so hard.

“The record of the eternal victory is completed. It is finalized in perfection and completion. Aju.” This is what Father said. He signed here, dated, and added a very important final note, “The oneness of the True Parents and True God is complete. God is perfected, concluded and completed. Aju.”

He wrote here, “God is perfected.” By whom is God perfected? By True Parents. Father said that God, too, is growing. If God has no physical or spiritual body, then what grows? God’s heart grows because of all the things God faces. God’s heart becomes bigger and bigger. God is now perfected; what does this mean?

God’s wish was to have substantial form, and now the wish is fulfilled. Father said God was perfected, by True Parents. Was there anybody who made God perfect before in history? No, never. Never before, never after. Father is the only one who could do this.

Here you understand the importance of the unity of Father and Mother. If Father and Mother are not united, how can they ride with God? Can they ride with God? No. Now with Father in the spirit world, where will he come? Where will he come down to when he comes to Earth? To Mother. You have to understand that. Without Mother, Father cannot become True Parents. Who is most important to Father? Mother is the most important being. The unity between Father and Mother is so important. Therefore, they have equal value. If there is no Mother, there’s no Father. If there is no Father, there’s no Mother. They are equal. Some people say that Mother is lower than Father. No. If you admit that, you are saying that women must be much lower than men, but at the same time you insist on equality between men and women. In God there is male and female; they are equal. Without one, the other cannot sustain.

Therefore, when I explain the importance of Mother, I say that in God there is a Mother God and Father God. If you understand all of this, the only true explanation is that as the oneness between True Parents and God is completed, Father must come to Mother, no exception.

2012, the next year, was the final meeting: “Assembly to Inherit and Accomplish the Opening of the Age of the Victory, Liberation and Completion of the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind.” In Japan they had the “Cosmic Assembly to Declare the Age of the Victory, Liberation and Completion of the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind.” In Japan and Korea, we did this, including six locations in Japan, March 6, 2012.

How great are our True Parents? You can understand that now. In history there was no one who did this much work, even if you compare the work of Jesus to that of True Parents. Jesus could not bring a single person to God’s blood lineage. Jesus could not do anything like that. He elevated people somewhat and many went to paradise with Jesus, but they were still of Satan’s blood lineage. God could not control them. They could not enter God’s dominion. We Blessed Families are of God’s blood lineage. Therefore, even if we do something wrong, we don’t go to Satan’s side. We remain in God’s dominion. There is a difference. Satan cannot take us to his side, because the blood lineage is completely different. Father made this possible for us.

We have many difficulties here around us. Do they matter so much, do you think? Because Father finished his mission, there is nothing to worry about. Many sad things happen, and of course we regret them and hope for them not to happen. But even though they happen, the providence still goes forward. Time passes. All the people on Earth and the spirits in the spirit world will undoubtedly come back to God’s side. This year, I had an interview with Segye Ilbo, and said that we in this century—all men and women on Earth—we will see the great day of change come. Everyone will witness with their eyes the great change of God and the providence coming on Earth and in the spirit world.

So, is our future bright or what? Bright, right? I hope that we can all do our part and share this glory and honor with our True Parents.

Rise Up and Tell the World about True Parents

Unificationists from around the world were welcomed to the Global Sunday Service held via internet on May 10, 2014 at the Cheong Shim Peace World Center in Korea. The following is an edited transcript from the English verbal translation of True Mother's worldwide message given at the Cheongshim Peace World Center, South Korea, on Sunday, May 11, 2014. Today it is Cheon Il Guk. By the Heavenly Calendar this is the second spring. Spring is the season of hope. It is a time when we can raise our dreams up to a high place. Such is the season of spring.

In this beautiful season, the news that we hear from around the world is filled with sadness and conflict and is truly tragic, as if this world were a ship without a captain or a compass. We are always in danger of crashing or sinking after meeting a violent storm; so insecure is this world.

All the Unificationist families around the world and all the warriors of Unificationism, when we look at these conflicts and violent problems, we must rise!

We cannot just sit idly and wait and do nothing. The blessings that we have received we cannot keep as our own. To the contrary, when we think about the 7 billion people who are suffering as orphans, we, the people who know that True Parents have come down to this earth to work with us, have to let rest of the 7 billion people of the world know that fact.

In light of that, I have relocated the world Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) headquarters to the Cheong Jeong Gung in Korea. This was completed yesterday. Through this, I have opened the age through which the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind can now rule and govern directly. Is that not something for which we can be grateful?

These blessings cannot remain only for ourselves. Let us make an effort to resemble True Parents. We are as true children to our True Parents and we are tribal messiahs. When we fulfill our mission as true children and tribal messiahs, we will be in the position of ancestors. In order to fulfill this responsibility, we have to rise. We cannot wait any longer.

Even at this very moment, there are still people who do not know that True Parents are here and alive, and these people are dying all around the world, countless people. Even though they live in the same age as True Parents, they do not know this providential history. This is the first time that this has come about, after 6,000 years of suffering, and still they are not in the position to receive this grace and blessing and they just pass away tragically. These are our brothers and sisters, and we need to think about them, and when we do, we need to roll back our sleeves, and rise up to the challenge.

We need to proclaim True Parents to the world without reservation and let everyone know that without True Parents this world cannot survive. This is the only way in which we can give back for receiving the blessings that we have received from Heaven.
