Father! This morning a lonely group has gathered before you. We must consider on our own the kind of situation we are in. We need to realize clearly through whom we have come here at this time and in order to form what kind of relationship we have come to this place.

However evil the world may be, and however filthy the world may be, we must examine completely on our own the position we are in, and we must determine our relationship with you, Father, and in the course of our lives establish a relationship with you which cannot be forgotten. We must know that if there is such a person, the relationship that person forms is greater and more precious than anything else in the world.

Our longing for our Father is soaring up out of our hearts, adoring hearts longing for heaven of their own accords, these are the driving forces which can go against the flow of history. Please allow us to know that these shields of victory can trample the waves of death and stand over them. We must become those people of true love who know how to feel how precious the people are who can live as substantial testimonies praising you with their minds and bodies.

Now we must analyze ourselves in detail, and think about for whom our faces exist. We must think about what our eyes are seeing what our ears are hearing, for which tastes and smells our mouths and noses exist, and for which acts of service for whom our hands and feet exist. Please allow us to completely realize that even though we should have been those whose entire being could become truly one with heaven and long for you, Father, and attend you, Father, and be those who were loyal to you, we are those who must grieve from a position of anguish that we have not had even one moment of our minds communicating with you and love.

We who say we live on this earth, live in a realm of life limited to seventy, eighty years or at most a hundred years, and then we are buried in the earth. No matter how good we might look while on the earth we must realize that we cannot bring about any results by ourselves, and we must realize how meaningless is preparing a living environment only with accomplishments on the earth.

We must clearly know that our birth and life and our four limbs and hundreds of body parts all exist due to you, Father, and we must understand how very precious we are when we depend only on heaven, and take responsibility ourselves even when there are difficulties, and with a desperate attitude follow your will, pushing our way through a great diversity of difficulties and seek to relieve your grief.

We must become those who know how to think of our relationship with you when we are in sorrow in such a position, and we must become those who are able to be grateful to you when we are happy. We must become true people who desperately weep and proclaim so that all of heaven and earth can be moved that you exist, our living Father who has been taking on all the difficulties and going forth being driven out again and again in our stead throughout history, and at this moment as well you are not resting, but in order to save us you are searching for the standard of goodness.

But each time we feel that no one has been able to experience that position, we want to receive your grace, Father, and we long to be able to live a life of grace within you and win your confidence. Father, we who are like that need a relationship with you, and need to be governed by you. Therefore, please allow only the glory of your life to rise up from the depths of our hearts. We pray in the name of the True Parents. Amen.

The Family Is the Final Standard for Completing the Cosmos-Centered Ideology

Sun Myung Moon

Everything divides from one into many, which eventually merge into a larger whole. In other words, one divides into many and then unites again into one. From here it divides again and becomes something even larger. Families exist within this larger created object. These families all have the same form as each other. The family is the place where the relationship of husband and wife is established and the place that unites the husband and wife. The tribe is a place that unites families, and the race is a place that unites clans. Races combine to form one nation. Here families play the central role.

When the family is expanded, it becomes the horizontal world. This is why no society can manage without the family. If families cannot be restored, the world cannot be restored. Next we must realize the cosmos-centered ideal through these families. The word cosmos combines heaven and earth. Heaven and earth are like a person's mind and body. The mind and body must become one. Just as a subject partner needs an object-partner, one man needs one woman. The union of a man and a woman leads to a family. God's foundation of love will not be attained without working through this family.

The cosmos-centered ideology is a philosophy that unites the mind and body forming a family as the main body of love, and connects that idea to the spirit world and physical world. The character ju (宙) of cheon ju (cosmos) means a house. This is why we are using the word cosmos-centered ideology. Cosmos combines the spirit world and the physical world. What relationship does it have with us? We need a family. If you fail to be at one in your family, you have nothing to do with the cosmos-centered ideology. The family serves as the final standard for completing the cosmos-centered ideology. Those who cannot sing songs of peace and sing praise for happiness here will become miserable people either on this earth or in the spirit world.

What kind of ideology is the cosmos-centered ideology? It is the true parent-centered ideology. After all, these are both ideologies upholding parents. This is the ideology of our house, the ideology of our nation, and the ideology of your individual self. Had human beings not fallen, whose ideology would rule the world? It would be the Adam-centered ideology. This ideology is none other than the way of true parents. It is the ideology of the mother and father. There cannot be an ideology higher than this. Hence the Unification Church should link matters of the heart with heavenly ideology through the way of true parents within the boundary of the original ideal family. As long as families that have internalized such an ideology remain, the Unification Church will not perish.

Prayer: We hope for You alone, our Father, to receive the glory

Father, today is the Sabbath. On this day, Your many children spread out across this nation are gathering in front of their altars, bowing their heads and offering full bows, pooling their hearts together and offering devotions. So we earnestly hope and pray that Your boundless love and compassion will be with them. Father, we know that it is Your holy Will to establish us in this position and to resolve all grief through us. We earnestly hope and desire that You will allow us to become children whom You cannot be without and who give their full devotion to the Will through which You seek to resolve all grief.

We know that our being here today is not because of ourselves. Since we know that You are the beginning and the end, and we have entrusted everything to You, please take dominion over us. Through us, please restore victorious individuals, families, nations and a victorious world. Furthermore, we earnestly hope and desire that by You realizing the victorious kingdom of heaven, You alone will receive the glory.

At this time, we pledge that we will become children who are able to resolve Your grief without fail, and return glory and joy to You by taking responsibility for all the unjust circumstances You have faced, in which You became a sacrifice and an offering. Father, we know that the relationships of three ages are connected with us as the center. Our many ancestors, who have come and gone in the past, are earnestly hoping that they can be relieved of their grief through us. The people of today who are spread throughout the world are longing for a day of liberation. Our future descendants are also longing for the day of liberation. So please let us become people who are able to liberate them. And we hope and pray that You will allow us to become sons and daughters who are able to find and establish the dutiful way for humankind by upholding Your Will for heaven and Your Will for earth.

Even as we speak, Your many children in the East and the West are waiting for the day of hope, longing for Korea, and offering devotions unceasingly for the Will. Please embrace them with Your deep love and protect them. We earnestly hope and pray, Father, that You will let them pioneer the one road of victory and become the unified, victorious living sacrifice that can bring all peoples around the world to prostrate themselves before Your Will.

We sincerely hope and pray that You will let us become the cornerstone of life for this people, and become glorious high priests. Please bless us so that we will not be lacking in any way to play a leading role in praising You. May Your love be with the blessed families gathered here, and especially with the Unification Church, and also with Korea. Father, please share Your love with Korea, with all of Asia, with Europe, and with the whole world.

Now, please embrace the entire cosmos in Your bosom, and allow it to be the stage for the activities of all Your children. Please thereby permit the glorious unified world You wish for to appear. We sincerely and earnestly hope and pray, our Father of love, that You will allow this to be a time in which we pledge to give all our loyalty and to persevere until that day, even if it means becoming a sacrificial offering. Earnestly hoping and praying that Your glory, mercy, and love will be with Your children going out to do Your Will, and with the world for all eternity, we pray all these things in the name of the True Parents. Aju!

The Teachings of True Parents and Teachers

Sun Myung Moon

SunMyungMoon-690930-1.png

Parents work for the sake of their children. There are no parents who work only in order to feed themselves. When poor parents with many children work hard in the fields or on worksites, carrying heavy loads with an A-frame on their back or weeding a field with a hoe, it is for their children's happiness to last indefinitely. The sweat of toil dripping from their foreheads is not for their own sake. When the fruit of this sweat mingles with their loving heart for their children, a new history of creation will unfold there. Although they may weed a field or carry a back frame on a worksite, each tread of their footsteps is carving out a new history.

Among the forty million citizens of our country, there are many parents who do not love their children. From their midst, if there were parents whose loving heart for their children could last for more than ten or twenty years, children of filial piety could not but appear in their family.

Children will realize their parents' hard work for them just by looking at their faces and hands. When they come to feel their parents' love emanating from their innermost core, the profound circumstances of times long past will flow out there. Through that, parents help their children to contribute to the nation, thereby becoming national or global parents.

Also, when you study with ardent hearts to fulfill your parents' wishes, you will become the new pillars of the nation. Those among you lacking such an emotion or feeling are not studying properly. If parents educate their children with patriotic hearts by saying, "We love you, strive hard for you, work hard and sweat for you because we want you to think of this country more than yourselves," then those children who have been educated in love by such parents will strive to become the patriots desired by them. Whenever they recall their parents' love, they will think of their forty million compatriots. Also, they will study hard with a heart of wanting to serve their people, and if that people were to become miserable, they would feel more miserable than their parents about it.

Yet they do not become patriots just by having such a heart. They must also have a substantial foundation they have established while having that heart. Only then will it be something that the people of the nation can admire forever. Otherwise, it will all pass away. It is serious when we think of all these matters.

If there were teachers at your school who strive to transmit correct ideas to their students by all means, while worrying about the destiny of the Republic of Korea, they would hold their students' hands in tears and admonish them thus: "Do not follow us, but rather follow the nation. We want you to do good things for the nation rather than for us." Students taught this way will fulfill the purpose that their teachers could not fulfill. This way, if teachers devote themselves and dedicate their whole life for their students, and if parents devote themselves for their children, cherishing the value of the nation and the world higher than their own, the students of those teachers and the children of those parents will become the pillars of the world.

The Source of Trueness

Sun Myung Moon
September 14, 1969

SunMyungMoon-690914-1.png

We have not gathered here for our individual purposes, but for the purpose of the whole. Thus, we should serve our family before ourselves, our own people before our family, our nation before our people and our world before our nation. In addition, before we as individuals become true, our families must be true and, furthermore, our nations and the world must be true.

Human beings are engaged in the course of restoration where they as individuals cannot be the motivating source of all blessing. Then what is that motivating source? It is trueness. For human beings to realize their true selves, they must have a relationship with God, who is the source of all life, death, adversity, and blessing. Without making that relationship, they cannot attain their true selves as individuals.

Trueness must be centered on God. This is why trueness is realized when the decisive foundation is laid, upon which humankind can be brought into order and governed as a whole. You should know that without such a foundation trueness cannot be established. God is the source of trueness. Trueness is established because God exists. When God departs, so does trueness. Then, rather than trueness, the origin of evil will emerge.

We can have true results only when there is trueness. In other words, God's desire can be fulfilled because God exists. Hence, concepts such as trueness and goodness are mainly established by God rather than by human beings.

From this point of view, we can understand that trueness is not something human beings can define in any way they please. In other words, trueness is not subject to the arbitrary management of fallen people. Rather, trueness is to govern fallen people. Therefore, we should always submit to that which is true. We should elevate trueness and meekly follow it.

Even looking at your daily reality or at your conscience, there is no way to deny that trueness is owned entirely by heaven.

When we pray, we often say, "Our true God, our holy God, who is in heaven" just vaguely out of habit. However, until now, trueness has not existed in the genuine sense. Because it has not existed, its origin cannot be found in the history of humankind, but at some point beyond human history. It transcends history. In other words, since this origin has to be pursued in a place beyond our present circumstances, religion is not something through which one's faith is based on a single person as the central point.

Of course, there are people who see their religious founder as the standard of their faith. However, there are also people who transcend this point and pursue "trueness" by inviting God in. In light of this, we can say that throughout history many people have been unable to grasp the source of trueness either in the course of their lives or in the society around them. Any situation that only connects people among themselves cannot provide a source of trueness.

Trueness is the absolute standard. Hence, it is necessary that God, the Absolute Being or deity, make an appearance here. Why is this so? It is because, until now, there has been no true person on earth. Thus, the person who lives in pursuit of trueness cannot of himself be the motivating source of trueness. This motivating source has to be God. In religion or history, God inevitably appears when humankind's situation comes to the final and crucial crossroads. A definite need for the Absolute Being then arises.

Even when you seek the value of existence which is the final goal of philosophy or dig into the origin of existence which is the final goal of true knowledge, these pursuits will inevitably involve God, the transcendent being or Absolute Being. Why is this so? It is because without building a relationship with the Absolute Being, questions about the origin of knowledge or the value of existence cannot be answered. This is why people in serious situations have always sought to resolve matters through that which is true. We cannot deny such a fact.

Hence, human beings alone cannot be the source of trueness. God, the Absolute Being, must be involved here.

A religion that proclaims trueness without God is unthinkable. Human morality that emphasizes that which is true cannot deny God.

This is why Confucius said, "Those who follow heaven will prosper and those who go against heaven will perish." These are words centered on heaven. Heaven must certainly be involved. They are saying that prosperity, downfall, advance, and decline are not determined by people, but by heaven. Considering these things, since trueness cannot be attained without an originating point, the motivation for which comes from Heaven, the question arises, "Where is the true person among the people living on earth?"

Where is the place where trueness can dwell? With heaven as the origin, God would want to establish a place of trueness on earth. This is God's desire. So, the question is, "Where on earth can it reside?" It would stay in the vicinity of our daily life. This is why Jesus said, "The Kingdom of God is in the midst of you." The Kingdom of Heaven, which is the true nation, is in the mind. It has secured its place in a deep, deep valley where there is no selfishness.

Our mind's fundamental aspects are the intellect, emotion and will. Among these, where is the kingdom going to dwell? Which is most fundamental among the intellect, emotion and will? It is neither the will nor the intellect. It is the emotion.

If you have something most precious to you, where would you want to keep it? You would want to keep it in a place that only you know a place where no one else can touch or interfere with it. It would be a place where only you can handle it. Where is that place? It is in the deepest part of your heart. You bury it deep in your heart and, thus, you are led to say, "It is safe here; I can relax." In other words, you put it in a place similar to a chest where people commonly keep valuables. From this point of view, the place where trueness can stay is the deepest part of your heart.

Prayer: Please Let Us Possess the Features of Children Who Are Able To Represent You

Oh Father! Until now you have been moving. Until now, the earth has been moving, too. But since the direction that you were moving and the direction that the earth was moving were not the same, it became your sorrow; therefore, we will have to unite them. We know that the beings who will have to unite them are the people who are in the middle, who are neither heaven nor the earth. We must clearly know the fact that due to people centering on themselves and betraying God, and not being able to go beyond the foundation of the difficult way of history, today this miserable struggle has continued centered on each one's self.

Here we must know that the enemies who are more frightening than the enemies of heaven or the enemies of the earth are the people. Due to people, your sorrow and grief have piled up one on top of the other, Father, and due to people, until now a miserable history of blood has continued on the earth. When we realize that all this is because a true person could not be established, we must establish truth and find a true person. And after finding him we must become completely one with him.

We have come to understand that in order to do that, the course of restoration is having to be absolutely obedient to you.

Owing to our having offered our minds and bodies entirely and having given our full devotion, heaven will have to be able to bow its head here and earth will have to be able to bow its head here. We will have to become people who are not ridiculed by the enemy Satan and who have the features of sons and daughters who have become one with you; who are able to attend you, and who are able to represent you. Please do not let us forget the fact that you have longed greatly for those kinds of features.

If in our minds we have hot-blooded vitality, please do not let that vitality end as vitality for any one individual; please let us realize that it will not do unless this vitality becomes connected with your vitality. If there is such a thing for young people, it is the same, and if middle-aged or elderly people have hearts of that kind of vitality, please let them be able to become one with you. We must know clearly that we descendants of the fall are facing a path of destiny along which we must long for and go to the place we are looking for today and tomorrow.

Father! Now we must open the doors of our minds and attend you with much care. Before the majesty of your presence we must bow down, and repent for the historical sins of the past and ask for forgiveness. Father, please come to us. Please extend your heart of mercy to us and please do not forget us. We must become true object partners who are able to become one with your hope. And we must become people who hold you as an object of adoration and who long for you.

Father! We know that it will not do unless we establish one complete standard that is able to call you Father and that unites the mind of vitality which is able to move or stop together with heaven and the mind of vitality which is able to move or stop together with the earth. Therefore, we earnestly hope that you will allow us to become a humble group before you as those who can do that. We have prayed all these things in the name of the True Parents. Amen.

Prayer: Please Let Us Be Children Who Do Not Forget Our Destined Relationship as Parent and Children

Father! Having to accomplish the mission of certain victory which you left behind is the daily life of original humankind who are living on the earth and it is their very life, but we know that by not having historical results which could be left before heaven, humankind has left behind historical grief. Please awaken us once again to the fact that you are concerned because we ourselves who are living today in this age are in a position where we could create grief.

Father! Please remember your children who are gathered here. They depend on you alone, and they are a group which is shouldering the important and great mission of having to accomplish the mission which you left behind. We know very well that we appear unworthy, and when we critique ourselves and analyze ourselves, we know that we do not measure up as beings who are able to return something to you. We must not forget that because we have already formed a destined relationship as children with you which cannot be torn apart even if we tried to tear it apart, you look at our very beings and you are relating to us from the point which divides into sorrow or joy.

Just as parents love their children, it is the principle of all human morality, and the duty of heavenly morality that the children must love their parents. We know well that through our lives, humankind should have left behind a starting point of being able to give and receive that kind of love, but because humankind was not able to establish a foundation in daily life to be able to do that, and was not able to have an environment where we were able to do that, we could not establish that kind of tradition.

Please let this become a time and a place in which we reflect on the sorrowful course of history which has flowed on like this and which calls upon us to fulfill the mission left behind for us today. We earnestly hope and desire, Father, that you will allow this to be a time in which we are able to present ourselves before your holy majesty, receive new orders, and receive new commands.

We are like naked people. Please let us realize clearly the fact that we are facing the realm of boundaries where we can be invaded by Satan at any time. Now we will have to know you, Father, before we die. And furthermore, we must feel that there remains before us the heavenly mission that after having come to know you it will not do unless we live and attend you before we die.

With ourselves as we are when we stand in the presence of your solemn majesty, do we truly have eyes which are able to look straight at you, Father? Do we have faces which can relate to you without shame? And do we have limbs and bodies which can do things in your presence without shame? When we think about these things, we come to realize that we do not have any features which are not shameful before you. The more that we feel this the more we come to truly know that the position of our father is a position in which he cannot avoid sorrow when he is relating to unworthy people who are pitiful like this and who are not able to stand properly.

Within our true minds, with minds soaring up which want to call out to you, going beyond time and the ages, our minds will have to become earnest about running towards you. We earnestly request you to allow us to realize the fact that without that kind of thing, we will not be able to continue our destined relationship as the sons and daughters of our father. We have humbly prayed all these things in the name of the True Parents. Amen.

Prayer: Please grant us victory on our final, destined path

Father, Your children who have been fighting in the countryside have now gathered here in Seoul, the heart of the Republic of Korea. Father, please help them understand the nature of the heroic resolve they need to embody.

For whom have we gathered here today? Each one of us was victorious in battle and, based on this foundation, was able to stand erect as a living being. Nonetheless, we have selected first and foremost the solemn task of building the kingdom of heaven, and so we ought to examine ourselves objectively and assess our ability to fulfill this responsibility.

Father, we know that the issue lies not with our environment but with our attitude -- whether we have the attitude of a person ready to take responsibility. This is why, after completing his three year course, Jesus prayed three times in the garden of Gethsemane and met his final destiny, having become one with You.

Father, we now have the responsibility of restoring the city of Seoul back to You. At this serious time, Father, please grant that we may feel Your sadness and wretchedness when, leading us, You see that we are unable to grasp even one ten-millionth of Your heart. As such, we each ought to criticize ourselves mercilessly, analyze our own thoughts and reflect on how our position relates to the whole.

By doing this, we must realize how lacking we each are. We must also hope that our brothers and sisters of faith around us are better than we are. We sincerely hope and pray that You can help us feel again that we need to have a hopeful heart that desires to accumulate hidden achievements, find the connecting point through which we can serve Your Will, and take action.

Father, now the time has come for us to restore Seoul. For some time now we have had this objective. However, due to the people's lack of understanding, they erected a wall we could not overcome, and for some time we could not act freely. Therefore our position was wretched: as we suffered storms of hardships, we were intent only on overcoming exhaustion and living hand to mouth. However, the time has come to launch an offensive that we couldn't have conceived of.

By virtue of the toilsome trail You have blazed, the time has come to go on the offensive. Accordingly, we have to be victorious in the final battle and attain the position to sing Your praises, and pledge to bring You victorious results. We must not be people who have nothing to report to You. That is how it should be on the battleground. Furthermore, after being victorious, we must invest ourselves with a hundred times more youthful vigor so that when You look at us, Father, no matter what You ask us to do, You will be proud that we are people who do not fall short in any way. We must become such people.

Father, please protect Your children, who are spread all over South Korea. Father, I sincerely pray that the activities and organizations centering on us and focused on the final victory can be one with Your heart and the path You are walking, and that they thereby will help us become those who will gain victory in the final battleground.

Father, at this time, focusing on Seoul, please remember Your children all over South Korea as well as Your children all over the world. Father, please let us realize that You ceaselessly look down on our wretched selves with a heart of compassion and pity as we urge ourselves to go along this necessary final path of destiny.

Father, please grant that we may realize that when we are lonely, You share in our loneliness, and that when we face difficulties, You share in our difficulties and worry about us. Father, allow us to become people who keenly feel that our wretchedness does not end with us, but also becomes Your wretchedness.

Father, these days we often forget we are responsible for the solemn duty of achieving the liberation of three generations. Nevertheless, please grant that we, as those entrusted with the solemn responsibility of finding the path leading to the destiny of three generations, may feel like marathon runners in a stadium where all the saints and martyrs of history in the spirit world are watching us, where the people of this age are watching us and where even our future descendants will long for us to gain victory.

In this race, we have to overcome all obstacles, trials and suffering. Please help us realize that even though we may be sleepless, there is a final peak we need to overcome and go over. Father, we earnestly hope and pray that as we race toward the finish line beyond that peak, we may understand that, even if the adversity and difficulties on the track worsen, we must overcome and surmount all these aggravated difficulties, since that is the only way we can capture a victory whose brilliance will extend all over the world.

Father, please help us realize once again that when we go over the peak, the outcome will depend on the unity of the people responsible for this victory. Therefore, Father, I sincerely hope and pray that we may become those You can command without reserve and lead without worrying that they will fail to follow through. Please grant that we may become the people of unification who can go over the highest peak with no hesitation, bring down the final cross that Satan erects, and surmount the final mountain.

Loving Father, it is our sincere hope and prayer that You allow us to become sons and daughters whose concern is the final day. We will equip ourselves on our own with the things we need, invest ourselves with all our might for the day we will meet only once, and prepare ourselves to fight even one thousand times for Your Will.

I beseech You to be with us on this day, and I offer all these things in the name of True Parents. Aju!
