Seoul - Ceremonies marking the 56th anniversary of the founding of Unificationism were held June 12 at the Cheon Jeong Goong Museum in Seolak Myeon, Gapyoung Gun, Gyounggi Province, with some 1,200 guests in attendance.
Unificationism was founded by Rev. Sun Myung Moon on May 1, 1954 in one member's home located in Bukhak Dong, Seoul (vicinity of the current Dongdaemun Athletic Field) with the name Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity. In the 56 years since then, this religion initiated in Korea has expanded around the world to become a global religious organization with evangelical foundations in 194 countries.
At this day's event, Rev. Moon said: "Even now, tens of millions of innocent lives are being sacrificed around the world to war, disease, hunger and natural disasters. People in every area of human endeavor, including religion, politics, education, culture or philosophy, have become bogged down in selfishness and have closed their doors against each other."
"The problems of humanity can only be resolved through heaven's teachings of true love that we are all one family under God," Rev. Moon said.
