Hoon Dok Hae
Cheong Hae Garden
Note: These notes are taken from a Peace TV video clip. They cannot be published as definitive texts and should never be used in the future as an "official" publication of True Father's words.
Rev. Hwang and the ambassadors for peace from Chungcheong provinces participated at the meeting.
Before Hoon Dok, Father said,
"Some of you might be seeing me for the first time today. What are we going to do now?
(Rev. Hwang said to the participants: 'We will do Hoon Dok Hae, and read one of Father's speeches that he gave when he was in his late 40's.')
I was younger than anybody here today. I must be the oldest here today. Is there anybody who is older than me? You are like my younger brothers and sisters, sons and daughters or grandsons and granddaughters.
In our church, Hoon Dok (reading and learning) is important. In order to live with the history and live for the future, one must know where to go, and (through Hoon Dok Hae) you can learn the benchmark. So listen carefully."
Mrs. Yang read Father's speech titled "Offer Jeong Seong," given at the former Korean headquarters on December 8, 1968. She read,
"I gave you the Blessing in order for you to do your responsibility as the Second Messiah but you are becoming burdens in fulfilling God's will. When you do not fulfill your responsibility, the Blessing you received will rather become the disaster. That's why I said you should not be settled yet, you should not do so for your own sake. When we come to have Cain and Abel in one family, there must come the judgment. When I see the current situation, Cain and Abel (groups) have been formed already. Originally, when I speak the words of joy, the whole world must resonate it and be happy together, and when I speak the words of sadness, the whole world must wail together with me."
Then Father spoke, and the following are some of his words.
"The relationship between God and oneself is a parent-child relationship. The relationship between parents and children, between spouses and among children must be centered on true love. They are meaningless otherwise. This is the formula."
"I am 93 years old and the whole world has opposed me. Have you opposed me before? Did you like me or oppose me?"
"When you compare Myung Shim Bo Gam (a book of selected phrases and words from Chinese classics, complied in 1393 in China) with the Bible, the Bible is nothing (regarding the depth of philosophical contents.)"
"In Korean we say Boo Ja (parent and child) not Ja Boo (child and parent). Why? Parents are the benchmark."
"What is the origin of order? In Korean we say Pyung hwa (peace), not Hwa pyung. (Hwa: harmony) can come from Pyung (be level)."
"Men's bellybuttons become deeper as they become older but women's stick out especially when they become pregnant. When they are pregnant, is it sticking out? ('Yes') Have you touched it before? (Laughter)"
"What is the most important part of the face? Everything in the face is horizontal such as the eyes, mouth, and eyebrows. Only the nose stands vertically."
As usual, Father spoke from point to point spontaneously and creatively covering all kinds of topics, which truly showed that Father is the master of human life.
