Rev. Sun Myung Moon was the very essence of compassion, of duty, of love. All over the world he was a symbol of selfless humanity. A very humble Korean who transcended nationality, he was a standard bearer for the rights of the downtrodden throughout the world.
He stood above all thinkers, philosophers, political and religious leaders not only of his time but the times before him; he was a man of action, of demonstration, of experiment to show what he taught us as a true parent can be, and should be, practiced among us. He showed we don’t need to be special to generate a particular brand of magic.
As a translator of his biography, I vividly remember how he suffered from the early days of his ministry until his last moments. He suffered from his own compatriots and by the leaders of the religion for which he worked so hard. He suffered for his call for universal values of all religions he worked so hard to have them united for peace on earth. But eventually, he surmounted and conquered all the tribulations and became the Savior of the humanity.
Today is our chance to say thank you for the way Rev. Moon brightened our lives. We have all despaired at our loss over the past week and only the strength of the messages he gave us through his years of giving has afforded us the strength to move forward.
Above all we give thanks for the life of a man we are so proud to be able to call our parent, the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and the irreplaceable Rev. Moon, whose compassion will never be extinguished from our minds. Rev. Moon is gone from this planet, but he lives in the universe today and eternally. And at the same time he lives in our hearts.
Thank you.
