Hak Ja Han - December 15, 2013

Distinguished Guests from Home and Aboard, Ambassadors for Peace and Beloved Blessed Members from Around the World, Welcome. This year, 2013, was a historic and unprecedented year, starting with Foundation Day; we have now reached a point in which we must wrap up this past year and make preparations to usher in the new age and new hope of 2014, which is about to begin. However, things that have happened around us have made us quite cold.

Why does human history unfold with so much difficulty? Even though humanity had sought goodness according to the actions of their consciences all throughout humankind's long history, today we face an indescribably complicated era afflicted with racial problems, religious problems, ideological problems, territorial problems, boundary lines, defense lines and others.

We cannot stand still. We know that God is working hard and not resting in order to conduct the providence. This problem arose because man deviated from the main track and the indemnity providence was necessary to enable human beings to return to the original track through their own efforts. However, this was a difficult problem for human beings to solve alone. Through the history of all religions, especially Christianity, the messianic idea came to us as our ultimate expectation. What kind of person is the Messiah? The Messiah is supposed to resolve everything about humanity that had gone wrong. For this reason, the Messiah must come as the True Parents. They must give birth again to humanity, which had fallen. Without such a procedure, there is no hope of resolving humanity's complicated history. We are grateful and amazed that True Parents appeared on earth.

Distinguished guests that have gathered here today and particularly ambassadors of peace, please fulfill all of your responsibility on the front line. Heaven's providence does not wait for us. There is a right time. We are at an important point of time when we should be in the position of true and devoted children that attune themselves to this time. Rev. Sun Myung Moon has been educating people under the motto, Love God, love people and love your country.

Even if a person is not aware of the deep providence, the person will naturally be loyal to one's country if he or she has a heart that reveres Heaven and loves people. I sincerely hope that politicians in charge of the country will think of ways to help the country and love the people instead of pursuing their own interests alone. The mission of the peace army and peace police, which was formed by you, ambassadors of peace, is important. Ambassadors for peace from Korea and all other nations must take the lead in guiding others onto the path heading toward a world of peace.

Please consider this. Let us say that your country is not alone in revering Heaven, loving the people and loving the country and that surrounding countries do the same thing. If all countries had such a heart, will they be greedy? We are now concerned about Northeast Asia's situation.

What about seeing it in this light? In Isaiah 2:4, it says that a peaceful world can be realized when swords are beaten into plowshares.

The yellow sand and fine dust flying from China is threatening our health these days. All living things are threatened. However, this is what I want to say to this country.

Just as is mentioned in the Bible, astronomical amounts of money are being wasted on military expenses; however, if only a third of it were invested in conducting a fertile land movement to plant trees in areas undergoing desertification, which makes up 30 percent of this land, what do you think will happen?

We must reveal the truth for this reason. The truth is that Heaven and humanity on earth have longed for and hoped for True Parents. If all nations do not attend True Parents as sibling countries…. Only by achieving a culture of deep heart, in which nations live for each other's sake and love each other as siblings in front of True Parents can world peace be possible. The place we will be heading to after living such a life is the eternal world, the kingdom of heaven.

No matter how long our physical life may be, it will not pass hundred years. The reality is that we are living on earth by borrowing a possession of the creator, the original owner who is our Heavenly Parent. Do you understand what I am saying? We cannot claim any ownership.

Having borrowed it, you should use it well and return it in a state Heaven desires. Only by doing that can you enjoy eternal freedom, peace and joy in that other world. It is my hope that you can realize this point.

What should we do in order to live such a life? We must stand up.

We must run out. It would be even better if you could fly.

We do not have much time left to us. How can we fulfill all that God wills on earth and be complimented -- Thank you my proud son, my proud daughter -- by our Heavenly Parent?

Let us all dash forward together with all our might until the day we achieve the hope of Heaven and of humanity.

We should remember and honor True Father’s philosophy of peace

True Mother gives the main address at The World Leaders’ Convention for the Advancement of the Reunification of Korea and Peace in Northeast Asia, 2013, in the first Year of Cheon Il Guk” was held at the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Chung Pyung, Korea on December 15, 2013. It followed True Parents’ vision of providential organizations uniting to quell the danger in Northeast Asia and the Korean Peninsula and was followed by a rally to move forward for the reunification of Korea and peace in Northeast Asia.

Around 20,000 people gathered on Dec. 15th, 2013 at the Cheongshim World Peace Center high in the icy mountains outside Seoul to appeal to God, our Heavenly Parent, for a seasonal spirit of peace and forgiveness to settle over the Korean peninsula, and over all of North East Asia at a time when tensions are running unusually high.

“We should remember and honor True Father’s philosophy of peace,” True Mother said during her short and moving address. “He always told us to love God; love people, and love our nation, and if we do that consistently, then all problems and conflicts can be quickly resolved.”

To be meaningful, that love has to be very substantial, and concrete, she said. It is not just a slogan or a platitude, but a voluntary commitment to live in a very different way, where the needs of others come first, even if those others are our ‘enemies’ or those with whom we have strong disagreements and difficulties.

Despite the cold weather, approximately 20,000 participated in this event. The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and the Citizen’s Federation for Unification co-hosted this event, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Unification of Korea, the National Unification Advisory Council and Segye Ilbo.

Addressing the political and military tensions in the area, she gave a new twist to the timeless biblical image of beating ‘swords into plowshares’ found in Isaiah, Micah and Joel. “I challenge the nations of this region to spend even one third less on their military budgets,” she said, “and use that money instead for causes that benefit not only your own citizens, but all people in the region.” In particular, she urged China to invest in projects that would reduce the dust and pollution that have not only already ruined the quality of life in Beijing and other major Chinese cities, but now threaten the health of millions of Koreans living under the plume of pollution sweeping across from the mainland.

True Mother’s fiery speech wasn’t the only pyrotechnics during the Sunday morning rally that was also supported by the Korean National Unification Ministry. The program began with a unique and pulsequickening drum performance with five youthful and super-energetic performers using flaming drumsticks to pound out a rhythm on a dozen giant drums while flaming phoenixes disported on the new ultra hi-res video screens behind them. The mesmerizing combination of noise and flames was a great way to open any house!

“The current state of tension in the skies, on the seas and on the land is far different from the bold vision of peace that Father and Mother Moon have been declaring here in Korea, and around the world throughout their lives and particularly in the last fifteen years,” said Ambassador Sam Zackem, former United States Ambassador to Bahrain in his remarks. “The most powerful teaching of Rev. Moon is that we must love our enemies and bring good fortune to them through dialogue and understanding.”

Zakhem moved many in the audience—and many more watching the rally from around the world—by taking the opportunity to apologize to True Mother for the unjust jailing of True Father in Danbury Prison in the United States back in 1984, now almost thirty years ago.

“Today I want to help set the record straight, and say clearly that the righteous leaders of America do not and never did agree with the way he was treated and we want to say so to Father and Mother Moon,” he said.

The former United States diplomat was one of five speakers who gave short reports about different aspects of True Parents’ peace work and peace organizations, including the Universal Peace Federation, the Women’s Federation for World Peace and others.

After True Mother’s speech, Mr. Bu Il Kang (Left) and Ms. Keum Seuk Jo (Right), representing the participants at the event, read the written resolution to fulfill their responsibility.

At a luncheon immediately following the rally, long time Ambassador for Peace and Georgia State Senator Donzella James congratulated Mother for her firm but loving words, and promised her the support of the women of the United States. “As we say in America, we’ve got your back,” she said. The colloquialism was actually a bit much for the Korean translators, who chose the more conservative “We’d like you to come back!” but that’s certainly true as well.

The United States delegation, led by Continental Director Dr. Ki Hoon Kim and President, Dr. Michael Balcomb may have been small, at just over thirty people, but it made a noticeable contribution throughout. The Women’s Federation was represented by Rev. Nancy Del-Rio Rosario from New York, Mrs. Katherine Duncan from Las Vegas, Lourdes dos Santos, Kim Dadachanji from Maryland, and National WFWP President Angelika Selle. The FFWPU delegates were pastors Kevin Thompson of California, Peter Ostrenko from Florida, David Roberts from Seattle, Justin Okamoto from WestRock and Hiroshi Inose from Kodan.

The rally finishes with three cheers of Eok Mansei.

The biggest delegation of Americans, though, turned out to the eighteen bright young American students from Sun Moon University, who came up from Cheonan to spend the first weekend of their winter break to support the program. They impressed everyone with their happy spirits, and their notable progress with the Korean language.

The following day, the American group braved sub-zero temperatures to visit the Gyeongbokgung, ancient palace of Korea’s Yi Dynasty for over five hundred years. Although the original palace has burned down more than once, the Korean people have always rebuilt it quickly so that the memory of their ancestors and kings would not fade.

In his remarks at our closing dinner, Bishop Kim Hoon Kim said that as we enter yet another new year without the physical presence of our True Father, it is our holy task to work harder than before to make sure Father’s legacy will never fade. If we do that, then 2014 can be a year of breakthrough and blessing!

Why has human history always unfolded with hardship?

Distinguished VIPs, peace ambassadors and beloved blessed families from all around the world, welcome.

Today, before the end of the year in which we received the historical and unprecedented Foundation Day, we prepare for a new era and for our hopes for 2014. But things have happened to try us and turn our hearts hard.

Why has human history always unfolded with hardship? In its long history, humans have conscientiously pursued goodness but today we are living in a complicated world with problems such as racial discrimination, religious hate crimes, ideological wars and territorial and border defense lines to separate us that are more complicated now then we could have imagined before.

We can't just sit still. We know well that God continuously moves the providence without resting to resolve the problems that began when human beings strayed from the path. Indemnity needed to be paid for the original path to be restored. But this was difficult to resolve and humans could not uncover the answer to restoring the path by themselves. When you look at religious history -- especially Christian history -- Messianism is a main concept; many religions have a belief in a messiah and are waiting for their messiah to come. What is a messiah? A messiah is a person who transforms fallen people into new people. That is why the messiah needs to come as true parents as it is through true parents that re-birth can be given to fallen people. Without this process, we have no hope to fix this complicated world. But amazingly and thankfully, True Parents manifested on Earth.

I ask all VIPs, peace ambassadors and leaders who are gathered here today to fulfill their responsibilities in their field. God's providence won't wait for you. There is the right time for everything and right now is the time when we need to be true children and filial children.

The Rev. Sun Myung Moon educated people on the founding philosophy "Respect for God, love for humans and patriotism." Even though you don't know about the deep providential history, if you respect God, you will develop love for all people and become loyal to the country. I want politicians to think about how they can work for their country and love their people rather than focusing on their own benefits.

The missions of the Peace Police and the Peace Army established by peace ambassadors are very important. Not only on behalf of the peace ambassadors in Korea, but all around the world, these two forces should lead people on the path to a peaceful world.

Think about it. If not only Korea but all other countries start thinking about how they can love God and all people do you think any of them will become greedy? All our concerns right now are about the situation in Northeast Asia. So how about we all think in this way?

HakJaHan-131215-2.PNG

The Book of Isaiah, Chapter 2, Verse 4 says when we melt swords and turn them into plowshares then the world will be peaceful.

Right now our health is threatened by the yellow dust and fine dust blowing in from China. All our lives are threatened. I want to say something to China:

What do you think would happen if we just did what the bible says? We are wasting billions of dollars on the military, but if we were to use one third of that money to fertilize 30 percent of the land that is now desert the people of China would find a new way to live and the nation would become rich. There are so many reasons why we need to reveal the truth. The truth is that the True Parents that God and humankind hoped for have already arrived. All the nations should unite with True Parents as sibling nations and establish the culture of heart of loving and taking care of each other. When nations can do this, world peace will be possible. In this way, we can live in the eternal Heaven.

Our physical life spans maybe 100 years. We are borrowing our life on Earth from the original owner, the Heavenly Parent. This means that we can't claim ownership over it. Only when we use it well and give it back to Heaven will we be able to live in Heaven with freedom, peace and happiness.

What do we need to do in order to live that kind of life?

We need to stand up. We need to run. If we can fly, it's better. We don't have much time left. We should fulfill all of Heaven's will so our Heavenly Parent can say with pride, "Thank you My Sons and Daughters."

Let's dash forward until we fulfill the hopes of Heaven and all humankind.

Hak Ja Han - December 12, 2013

After the Israelites settled in Canaan, what direction did they take? They had to compromise with the world and could not live up to their pride and responsibility as the chosen people. And we clearly know through history how much trouble Heaven had to go through whenever such a thing happened. Well, how many second-generation children in Korea and members blessed by True Parents within the secondgeneration realm are there? Japan has over forty thousand. There would be more in Korea. They have to play a pivotal role for Cheon Il Guk; they have to lead this fallen world. However, haven't the majority drifted away? After Father's ascension, this was the first thing I wanted to resolve. We must be different.

The same thing happened with the two-thousand-year history of Christianity. The people of Israel failed to fulfill their responsibility and thus brought about the formation of Christianity, which for the past two thousand years has been waiting for the Returning Lord. However, Christianity did not know how the Messiah would return in reality and what kind of mission he would carry. As a result, there were many trials and errors. In short, Jesus' teachings just explained our father–son relationship to God and to love our neighbors. This is a universal teaching taught by all religions that have appeared in the fallen world in pursuit of goodness. Jesus could not explain his mission and the purpose of his coming. What about his disciples? Were they decent disciples? As time passed, people started guessing that it would have been this way or that way and we know that Jesus' birth was actually not on Christmas Day. With the understanding that Jesus was born in the winter, they fit it in the season. We know that Jesus's birthday is on January 3, right?

Yet, this is the True Parent whom Heaven and humanity hoped and longed for. As a result of the Fall, fallen people received the lineage of Satan, the false parent and even if they had a conscience, it could not properly work. Conditions had to be set and indemnity had to be paid. Yet, they still don't know how to go about it. Thanks to True Parents, we now understand the providence and know the purpose for which we must advance. True Parents showed us everything by practicing it themselves. Please think about it. The children in the True Family speak in this manner. We did not receive our parents' love. First-generation members were always in front of their parents. The older men were always the priority. This is how they speak. These older men, the first-generation members, had to create a good environment for the children. They did try but were inadequate in many respects. They were also inadequate when it came to having desperate hearts in front of the foundation by which Heaven would come down to us.

It took Heaven more than six thousand years to find True Parents. At a time when humanity's hope is about to come true, we are living with True Parents but have been only receiving love. The same thing happened with all foundations. We hoped that True Parents would do everything for us. We did not fulfill our responsibility as their children and as blessed families. As a result, second-generation members thought that there was no end to the suffering of their parents and came to the conclusion that suffering was nothing to boast about.

They ended up drifting away as they tried to first be comfortable. That is because we did not fulfill our responsibility, starting with the thirty-six couples. If the providence is to be conducted in order, the children of the thirty-six couples must be the first to stand on the front line. We say we know the Divine Principle and respect the faith that True Parents have lived, but in reality we have been making compromises. However, it must be different now. True Parents perfected, concluded and completed the providence of restoration through indemnity and they proclaimed Foundation Day in front of us. They accomplished the purpose that God had when he created the entire creation and man.

If Adam and Eve had become one with God six thousand years ago, a new providence would have been achieved then. Even though Father suddenly ascended, he did so out of love to set up those first- and secondgeneration members that worked with him in positions of responsibility in order to save us once more. You must understand this. You must have only absolute faith and obedience. You must take the initiative on the front line in embracing all humanity in true love as your brothers and sisters. Women and the wives of those in positions of responsibility must take the lead. Do you understand? While I was preparing for the Holy Wedding with True Father, I made the determination to end this tiresome providence of restoration through indemnity. People think that Father alone is the Returning Messiah and that the Messiah is a man. However, it doesn't work with only a man. I had to go with him all the way to the end. I had to fulfill my responsibility.

You clearly understand the second part of the Divine Principle, right? I had to set them up indemnity conditions all by myself. That is the difference between you and me. I also had many critical moments.

However, I was single-hearted in my devotion to liberate God. That is why I am confident in front of humanity as the True Parents. With the top gun workshop conducted, you must become one with me.

We must become one. In a world of goodness without any trace of the Fall, everyone would know what God was thinking of. Even if I don't say anything, you should be able to think, What is True Mother thinking of? I'll do it for her in that way.

Wouldn't it be better for you to do something out of your own initiative than doing so under orders? Should this be the way it should be done? In this light, you should be able to bring together all blessed families who are your brothers and sisters. Physical life is short. No matter how long we may live, we cannot guarantee living a hundred years in good health. Don't you have to at least ensure that when blessed second-generation members and your sleeping brothers and sisters go to the spiritual world, they are able to confidently raise their heads and live in gratitude to you saying, Thanks to you, I could grow this much.

If you think of them as your brothers and sisters, can you leave them alone? It is my hope that you put everything in order. That is why when I called you, I thought of giving you all something I had worn before. While I attended Father, I lived the life of a gypsy. I could not settle down. I was always on the move, living a wandering life. Some of the places had four seasons. For those who have travelled before, it is quite uncomfortable to go around with silk clothes like this which need to be ironed. So when packing, I had to find clothes that would not crease but still look beautiful when worn. People around the world think I am beautiful. What about you?

In the 1980s, the period before and after True Father went to Danbury, many world-level senior scholars would meet for science conferences. Many of these meetings were held during the Thanksgiving period. Whenever such a meeting was called for, world famous scholars and top leaders would meet and True Parents welcomed them in a receiving line. All these participants held high positions in society and when they raised their heads in front of Father and shook hands, Father would then introduce me as his wife. Do you know how they responded? They would look at True Father and say, "You are a lucky man." This is how popular I was.

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Marks 55 years of Mission Work in Japan

An inspiration for a new start through the message of Dr. Hak Ja Han, on the 55th anniversary of missionary work in Japan . . . a family-centered principle. Strengthening the foundation for leading Japan's religions.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of Unification Church mission work in Japan. Japan is one of the largest mission countries in the Unification Church. The mission in Japan faced many difficulties in the early stages of the mission. That makes this 55th anniversary even more special. There is also a special meaning in the fact that Dr. Hak Ja Han chose Japan for her first overseas mission visit after Rev. Sun Myung Moon's passing. It is said that under Dr. Hak Ja Han, whose leadership style shows a mother's heart, the Unification Church will flourish and flower in the relationship between Japan and Korea. The world is watching the first steps of Dr. Han at the helm of the Unification Church.

The Unification Church proclaims "The Era of Dr. Hak Ja Han" at the 55th anniversary of the mission in Japan.

The Unification Church seeks to set a new foundation between Japan and Korea with mother's-heart leadership by Dr. Han. Twenty thousand people, including church members, community members and local leaders participated in the rally for the 55th anniversary of missionary work in Japan held at Saitama Super Arena, in Saitama prefecture, near Tokyo, on October 16.

Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo, was the site of a rally to commemorate 55 years of missionary work in Japan that was held at 10 am on October 16 by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. However, the weather was threatening. The rain was not falling as heavily as the previous day, but the wind was gusting very strongly in the aftermath of typhoon Wipha, the worst typhoon to hit Japan in ten years, which had left many dead and missing in the Kanto area and surrounding islands.

Even some of the event staff were concerned, "Some train lines are not working because of the typhoon. We are not sure whether we can have the rally . . . " The Unification Church's scheduled called for celebration events from October 14-22, touring to five different areas (Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Nagano and Kobe) to commemorate the 55th anniversary of missionary work in Japan, and the Saitama rally was the second, following the opening rally in Sapporo on October 14.

After the success of the first rally in Sapporo, the concern of church officials was understandable. Finally, around noon, the situation changed. The Saitama Japan Rail station began to fill with passengers. Small groups of people - three by three, five by five, headed from the station to the stadium. Buses also began to show up at the stadium. With two hours left until the rally's initial opening, all the entrances of the Saitama Super Arena were suddenly crowded with people.

Some of the participants even came from areas damaged by the typhoon. One woman about 60 years old had walked almost two hours to the nearby village in order to catch the train to Saitama. Some people took buses instead of the trans. What was it that drew people to the stadium in spite of the terrible weather following the typhoon? "There are many church members, civilian groups and community members supporting the harmony of humankind, and world peace. This is part of the international and interreligious work of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han," commented a Japan church representative. What made the Japanese participants so passionate about coming? By the afternoon, the winds of the typhoon began to die down.

HakJaHan-131200-2.png

Many Japanese participated despite the typhoon

The rally site, Saitama Super Arena, can accommodate up to 37,000 people at its largest seating layout. It is known in Korea as a frequent concert venue for the K-pop idol band, Big Bang. You could feel the heated atmosphere in the stadium. Inside the stadium, not a seat was empty. Then entire stadium was filled with people holding signs that read, 'Harmony' and 'Peace'. It looked just like one of the huge crowds that gather for Big Bang's concerts. It was estimated that 20,000 participants attended the rally, including not only Unification Church members, but also civilian groups, members of the community, with 30 city and prefectural council members from Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures and ten members of the Japanese Diet in attendance. It was as if those gathered represented the entire world's hopes for peace.

When the main event began and the image of Rev. Sun Myung Moon appeared on the oversize video screen at the front of the stadium, prayers could be heard here and there from among the gathered faithful. The highlight of the event, Dr. Hak Ja Han's message, in which she expressed her love toward Japan, drew great applause from the Japanese church members. Dr. Han said, "God loves not only America, but also Japan, and it is important for you to understand that God has helped make Japan what it is today." She continued, "The reason God loves Japan so much is because of all of you gathered here today, who have worked so hard in support of peace," adding, "Japanese people are very polite and sincere, and they are very dedicated in following their faith. It is my hope before Heaven that Japan will lead this new age and the new history."

But Japan has a responsibility that reaches beyond it’s borders. Dr. Han also spoke about the problems Japan must solve for the sake of world peace. At the first rally, held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, she said "God has loved and blessed Japan. Japan has a timely and historic mission to guide and lead the United States, along with all the other countries in the Pacific Rim. However, it is impossible to find the truth by ignoring the past and looking only at the future, and without the truth, one can have no friends." She explained that it is necessary to solve the past problems between Japan and Korea in order for Japan and Korea to join hands and work together for peace in northeastern Asia and the world, and that the Unification Church has a large role to play in that process.

On October 18 at Port Messe Nagoya, the central region 55th anniversary rally, with over 10,000 people attending, included 20 local city and provincial assembly members, civic groups and Family Federation members. Everyone paid close attention as Dr. Han spoke to the local leaders and all of those gathered about the Federation's international and inter-religious work for world peace.

The appeal to the Japanese people of loving one's enemies and Unification Principle

What is the background that has led to the Unification Church's large following in Japan? Tokuno Eiji (59), president of the Unification Church in Japan says it is due to the good match between the strong desire of the Japanese people for peace and the providential mission of the Unification Church to work for world peace.

Council for World Peace president Oyamada Hideo (72) added, "Rev. Sun Myung Moon's love for his enemies is what made the Unification Church in Japan grow so quickly," and he shared a story about Rev. Moon. "When Rev. Moon was an exchange student at Waseda University in Japan, he was caught participating in underground Korean independence activities, and subsequently tortured, and he memorized the names and faces of the police officers who tortured him. But he never had any hatred or resentment towards the Japanese people. On the contrary, after Korean's liberation from Japan, Rev. Moon visited the Japanese officials who had been living in Korea and helped them and their families to return safely to Japan, and all the Japanese who heard that story were very moved by his heart."

Then he emphasized a different reason that the Unification Church was persecuted. After the end of the Second World War, many people joined the church, but the new members received a lot of persecution. However, the more severe the persecution was, the more determined the members were to work more closely with Rev. Moon. The emphasis on the individual's portion of responsibility in the articles of faith of the Unification Principle taught by Rev. Moon is a very good fit for the Japanese people and their sense of responsibility. While living amidst the confusion in contemporary Japan, young people saw a solution for the problems of society in Rev. Moon's teaching, and at the same time they saw a road to peace. But other trials were ahead. Perhaps it was because of concern over the growth in church membership, but starting in the 1980s from the time of Prime Minister Takeshita Noboru, the sentiment in Japanese government and society, which for a while had been supportive of the church's work, once again turned against the Unification Church. The situation was bad, but at the same time, there was hope." Religion has a history of prospering when under persecution.

After the main event was finished, Yong-Cheon Song, Chairman of the Family Federation in Japan gave a detailed explanation of the victory of the Unification Church in Japan. "Christianity teaches individual salvation, but the Unification Church teaches that salvation comes to families. What is the point of going to heaven alone? If the members of my family whom I love are in hell, will I have a peaceful mind in heaven? The Unification Church is focused not on church buildings, but on people. This is the power that has changed peoples' hearts and has built up the Unification Church in Japan."

He pointed out that while the Unification Church in Japan and the Unification Church in Korea are united by following the same Principle, at the same time they each have their own special characteristics, leading them to a state of good competition. He went on to explain the difference between unity and uniformity, "Unity does not require any change in personality or individual characteristics; whereas with uniformity there is no room for individual personality or characteristics," and that what Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han are calling for from Japan and Korea is not uniformity, but unity.

The connection between Japan and the Unification Church has now passed more than half a century. Rev. Moon sent missionaries from Korea to Japan in 1958, four years after the establishment of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in 1954. At the time there were no diplomatic relationship between Korea and Japan. Moon explained his choice of Japan as the Unification Church's first foreign mission country to his followers. "Moon emphasized that his first purpose in sending missionaries to Japan was to save Japan, and his second purpose was to save Korea. At the time, one by one, countries were falling under communist control. If Japan were to come under communist control, Korea's situation would become extremely precarious. Therefore, he felt it was important to arm Japan with an ideology that could defeat Communism. Of course, there was also the aspect of the future of the Unification Church. Rev. Moon considered Korea the Adam country and Japan the Eve country, and felt it important to introduce the Unification Principle to Japan before any other country. He anticipated that Japan would play a large role in the future of the church, both economically and in relation to the expansion of world with mission work.”

The Unification Church owes much of its growth, which has come after great effort, to Rev. Moon's love for Japan. Rev. Moon's prediction proved correct. Just one year after missionaries were first sent to Japan, on October 2, 1959, the first worship service of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in Japan was held in Tokyo, following which a nationwide network was quickly established. As a result, today the Unification Church has about 600,000 members in Japan, along with 266 churches and training centers.

Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han's half century of love for Japan

Japanese church president Tokuno explained, "Rev. Moon foresaw Japan's important role in northeast Asia. Japan was the first country that Moon visited on his first world speaking tour taken from January 28 to October 10, 1965. Even though there were not many members in the Japanese church at the time, the church had already been legally registered, and church activities were moving forward energetically. Rev. Moon made several subsequent visits to Japan to support the growth of the church there, and Dr. Hak Ja Han has also made several visits to Japan, particularly in connection with activities of the Women's Federation for World Peace. On September 14, 1995, 50,000 representatives from 53 countries gathered in Tokyo Dome for a rally to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the founding of the Women's Federation for World Peace, with former US President George W. Bush as a special guest."

He continued, "In describing the worldwide missionary work of the Unification Church, the roles played by Japan and Korea are like those of parents. Korea is the father nation and Japan is the mother nation. Without discussing history in detail, it is clear that there is much work that Korea and Japan must pursue hand in hand. Looking at the current situation, it seems that relations between Korean and Japan have taken a turn for the worse, due to disagreements regarding past history and struggle over territory. In this context, Dr. Hak Ja Han's message that Korean and Japan must work together holds even greater symbolic significance."

Dr. Han's has a deep and solid love for Japan. During the past fifty years, she has visited Japan ten times with Rev. Moon, and 20 more times by herself. Including her speeches on this trip, she has delivered 140 speeches in Japan. Dr. Han has devoted much time and energy to building unity between Korea and Japan for the sake of world peace, leading many kinds of events, including various kinds of lectures, world rallies, marriage blessings and hoondok meetings. She demonstrated the same love for Japan in her message on this trip, saying "Japan should take a path where they can be respected by the countries in Asia. They should not remain focused on small issues, and should work to make unity with Korea."

The reason Dr. Han was so warmly welcomed by all sectors of Japanese society on this trip is that because the Japanese people understand her passion and love for Japan. Dr. Chang Sik Yang, International Vice President of the Family Federation said, "With her soft but firm voice, Dr. Han made it clear that Japan must go beyond understanding their own country and take a lead in making peace in northeast Asia."

Tokuno Aiji, Japan Unification Church President and Yong Cheon Song, Chairman of the Family Federation in Japan promised that Japan would stand at the front in following Dr. Han's lead in pursuing inter-religious and international roads toward world peace. Takuno and Song hold copies of Pyeonghwa Gyeong and Cheon Seong Gyeong, containing the words of Rev. Sun Myung Moon's messages.

9000 Korean - Japanese international marriage couples break down barriers

The impressive growth of the Unification Church in Japan is due to a combination of ideology and national character. You can see the meeting of ideology and character in the emphasis of the Unification Principle on family values and world peace, ideas that can engage the mind and faith of the Japanese people. One way that the Japanese members have expressed their affirmation is through their participation in international marriage blessings. Blessed families formed after international marriage blessings consider both Korean and Japan as their home countries, so there is no further need for an attitude of conflict between them.

Public Relations head Ho Yeol Ahn explained, "After the treaty of Ulsa in 1905, the Japanese occupied Korea from 1910 until August 15, 1945, meaning that Korea was controlled by Japan for a total of 40 years. Due to this fact of history the two countries have had an uncomfortable relationship. However, in 1965, diplomatic relations were restored with a treaty normalizing Korean-Japanese relations. Even though diplomatic relations were restored at that time, personal relations between Korean and Japanese people remained strained, due in part to the legal restrictions placed on Korean residents in Japan. Rev. Moon saw that the fastest way to build cordial relations between the Korean and Japanese people would be through international marriages. This is because if virtuous men and women from countries that have traditionally been enemies will marry with each other, through their love they will have children who can go beyond the enemy relationship of the two countries."

The first marriage blessing in Japan was held in 1968. On February 22 of that year, the first group among the 43 couples participated in a blessing ceremony, including former early Japanese church members Kuboki Osami and Ohoyama Kimiko. Later, on May 1, 1969, a blessing ceremony for 22 couples more couples that were part of the 43 couples was held in Tokyo. From the 1970s, the number of people participating in marriage blessings increased. On October 21, 1970, there was a marriage blessing with 235 couples in Japan, which included four international couples, as part of the 777 blessing group. Continuing on from the blessing of 1800 couples in Seoul on February 8, 1975, the number of Japanese participants increased dramatically.

After the international blessing of 6500 couples in 1988, the number of Korean-Japanese and Japanese- Korean couples has been on the increase. Among the 6500 couples, 2600 of the couples were Korean- Japanese and Japanese - Korean. The 30,000 couple blessing in 1992 and the 360,000 couple blessing in 1995, there were thousands of Korean-Japanese and Japanese - Korean couples. The number of Korean- Japanese and Japanese-Korean couples has increased steadily in each blessing held since that time, and these days marriage blessings for 2nd and 3rd generation members are increasing too. From among those international blessings, there are about 2,500 Korean wives living in Japan and 7000 Japanese wives living in Korea, which contributes to the friendship between Korean and Japan.

Subtitle: "The driving force behind the Unification Church today is the passionate devotion of the Japanese members. The role of the Japanese members will continue to be important in the future."

A Unification Church official explained the role of the Japanese - Korean blessed families. "The Japanese wives provide a bridge between the two countries, and they are some of the most dedicated members working in the Korean church. Some of them have been blessed with Korean men from farm villages. Aren't the farming and fishing villages the kind of places that Korean women try to avoid going to get married? In that kind of place, the wives have to work hard not only for their husbands and children, but also to take care of their in-laws and other relatives, and many people have been deeply moved by their efforts and dedication. The stories of some of these Japanese brides have passed through Korean society, and some of them have even been reported on by the media. One area where the Japanese wives have been attracting particular attention is the large number of 'dutiful daughter-in-law awards’ that have been claimed by Japanese brides. And they have made a considerable contribution to improving the relationship between the Japan and Korea."

Family Federation Chairman Yong-Cheon Song explained further about the Korean - Japanese marriage blessings. "Rev. Moon believed that if all the people of the world became blood relatives through international marriage blessings, the discord and antagonism between nations would automatically be solved. There are already 9000 blessed families with Japanese and Korean members. The 2nd and 3rd generations of these families not only speak both Korean and Japanese, but feel that both countries are their mother countries. As the number of international blessed marriages increases, the difficulties between Japan and Korea will gradually decrease.

Besides this, 160,000 Japanese and Korean women have participated in international Bridge of Peace Ceremonies. Since ten thousand Japanese and Korean women participated in the first Bridge of Peace Ceremony held in the 2nd Olympic Stadium in Seoul on March 11, 1994, about 179,000 pairs of Japanese and Korean women have participated in the ceremonies.

There are also examples of fateful connections between Japan and Korea involving the Unification Church. One of them is the victory over Communism movement. Rev. Moon organized the International Federation for Victory over Communism on May 1, 1972, in order to support victory over Communism activities in Japan. Even before founding the International Federation for Victory over Communism, Rev. Moon armed lecturers with the ideology to give lectures on defeating Communism. These lecturers focused on giving victory over Communism lectures at Chosun University and other places that were the foothold of the Alliance of Koreans in Japan. Along with the lectures, they invited the Korean to visit their mother country.

Subtitle: "Providentially, it is important for the democratic nations of Japan and Korea to unite in order to establish peace in northeast Asia. When the Korea - Japan tunnel is completed, it will provide new energy to the relationship between Korea and Japan."

Until the 1970s, because the relationship between North and South Korea was in a state of confrontation, there were repeated confrontations with the Korean Residents Union in Japan and the Alliance of Koreans in Japan. This was one direct factor contributing to the disintegration in relations between the Koreans living in Japan. Rev. Moon saw a need to united the various groups of Koreans living in Japan, and he organized a trip, inviting them to visit their family burial sites during Chuseok in September 1975. This was the first time they had had the opportunity to visit Korea since the liberation of Korea from Japan, and they had moving emotional visits with their families in Korea. As this kind of visit was repeated several times, it had a profound and deep effect on Japanese society as well as North-South relations. Rev. Moon's efforts to improve relations between the Korean Residents Union and the Alliance of Koreans came after he sent Yong-Seok Choi, the former president of the International Federation for Victory over Communism to give victory over communism education to the Alliance of Koreans and realized the actual state of relations between the groups of Koreans in Japan. Yong-Seok Choi, who was president of the Organization of Koreans living in Japan, was awarded the May 16 Peoples' Award by the Alliance of Koreans in Japan on May 16, 1975, in recognition of his work in organizing the trips enabling Korean residents in Japan to visit their homeland.

In September 2002, the Japan Unification Church headquarters formed a Korean Reunification Department, and has been conducting reunification activities since that time, focusing on the Koreans living in Japan.

In July 2004, the Federation for Peace and Unification was formed, following the philosophies of Harmony among Korean residents in Japan', 'Reunification of the Korean Peninsula', and 'World Peace', and they have worked actively until now, focusing on living for the sake of others and true love with the goal of uniting the Korean people both in and outside of Japan, and for the reunification of Korea.

Working for harmony between the Korean Residents Union and the Alliance of Koreans, and reunification

One event that attracted a lot of attention was the All hearts One People Rally for Peace and Unification, held in November 2004. The rally symbolized the unity of the Korean people, with 600 members of the Korean Residents Union, 600 members of the Alliance of Koreans, and 1000 South Koreans from the Youngnam and Hanam districts, a total of 2200 people. The participants made a joint five point declaration to settle up the overactive regional pride of the past ages, to work for peace and unity through true love and sacrifice, and to pioneer the unity of their people through peace and unification activities. The Korean residents of Japan overcame ideological differences and united their minds to open a Prayer for Peaceful Reunification at Panmunjom , on the DMZ between North and South Korea in Gyeonggi province. Once again in July 2005, 1100 people each from the Korean Residents Union in Japan and the Alliance of Koreans in Japan participated in an event for harmony, and in December 2005 a group of 10,000 people participated in a Peace and Harmony March for Reunification at Imjingak, and other peace building activities.

Chairman Song said, "During the period when the Unification Church in Japan was holding victory over Communism activities, communist influence was expanding in Japan. The Unification Church's victory over Communism activities blocked the expansion of Communism in Japan."

He continued, "The Japanese people are very grateful to the Unification Church for this."

The victory over Communism activities provided a chance for the Unification Church to get support from the government. In 2001, Minister of Science and Culture Koizumi and former minister Aoyama Takashi were supportive. Former minister Aoyama participated in a rally in Nagoya, and told the press the Unification Church was contributing to the relationship between Japan and Korea. "Many members of the government have been deeply impressed by the Unification Church's victory over Communism work. The government itself has also been impressed. Due to the bridge-building efforts of the Unification Church, relations between the governments of Korea and Japan have become more amicable. It was even possible to make an association of Korean and Japanese congressmen. The Unification Church played a role in making this possible."

The Korea - Japan tunnel project is a symbol of the Unification Church's ongoing efforts to create harmony between the two countries. The tunnel project was announced by Rev. Moon in 1981 as the first stage of a international highway project. The announcement of the international highway project was made in November 1981 at the Sejong Cultural Center in Seoul during the 10th International Conference on the Unity of the Sciences. In order to carry out the project, in May 1983 the Unification Church established the Japan Korea Tunnel Research Institute and conducted investigations of the land and sea areas in Saga prefecture nearby Iki Island and Daima Island. In October 1986, work began on a pilot tunnel in Saga prefecture Jinjei-cho, Nagoya. In the same year a Korea-Japan Tunnel Research Institute was established in Korea, and 1988 they also completed initial investigations. In 1984, a World Peace Tunnel Foundation was also established, along with a Korea Japan Tunnel Forum and other international promotion was held for the project.

As public support for the tunnel project, leaders from both Korea and Japan agreed that the tunnel project was needed. Korean President Noh Tae Woo in May 1990, President Noh Moo Hyun in February 2003 and President Kim Dae Jung in November 2006 all mentioned the tunnel project, saying that that a Korea - Japan tunnel would contribute to making a closer relationship between the two countries. Japanese Prime Minister Mori Yoshiro proposed the construction of a Korea- Japan tunnel as the ASEM meeting in Seoul in October 2000.

Experts have pointed out that in addition to improving relations between Korean and Japan, a Korea- Japan tunnel would enable rail transportation system that could connect the entire Eurasian area, opening the possibility for an Asian trade hub to develop in Korea. This would greatly reduce distribution costs for consumer goods and building a Eurasian rail network would give increased trade opportunities to Japan, who are ranked third in the world economy after the US and China. An international rail network running through North Korea would also contribute to reunification efforts.

Dr. Hak Ja Han agrees that the Korea - Japan tunnel is needed.

At the Tokyo area rally in Saitama, she did not mention the Korea - Japan tunnel directly, but she emphasized that Korea and Japan must become geopolitically united. She went on to explain, Korea and Japan are located in close proximity to each other, and they hold crucial roles, with China and North Korea allied as Communist countries, and Japan and Korea holding the position of Democratic countries in the current Northeast Asian political situation. From a providential viewpoint, it is important for the two democratic nations of Japan and Korea to be united in order to create peace in northeast Asia and the world. However, currently, a peaceful relationship between Korea and Japan is difficult. Exchange between the two countries is needed in order to contribute to a peaceful relationship between them. When the Korea - Japan tunnel is completed, it will be a turning point in relations between Korea and Japan."

Regarding the efforts behind the Korea Japan tunnel, a church official said, "In 2011, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs assessed that although a Korea - Japan tunnel would not contribute to economical efficiency, it would serve as a symbolic settlement to the past struggles between the two countries, and explained that it would become a 'magic tunnel', bringing the possibility for fast transportation at the center of the Asia-Pacific areas international governments and economy, opening a new Pacific Rim age, and would certainly contribute to peace in northeast Asia and the world.”

Former Vice-Minister Aoyama said "Korea and Japan can become one," and "for that purpose, the Korea- Japan Tunnel is a very meaningful undertaking, and from that point of view the role of the Unification Church is very important."

Does Vision 2020 provide a turning point in Korea - Japan relations?

The goal of the Unification Church is to bring world peace through inter-religious and international work. This is one of the tasks that Rev. Moon left behind him at his Seonghwa. After Rev. Moon's Seonghwa, Dr. Han has stated, "We must move forward without stopping," making it clear that this work will continue.

Dr. Han introduced her concrete mid and long-range plans in the ‘Vision 2020’ program. The goals of Vision 2020 are to reach six million members in Korea and ten million members worldwide by the year 2020, which is the 100th anniversary of Rev. Moon’s birth, the 60th anniversary of the Moon’s holy wedding. In order to reach these goals, 43 strategic countries have been chosen out of the 194 countries that have Unification Churches, and plans are to focus on expanding church membership in those 43 countries. The Asian countries include Nepal, the Philippines, Taiwan, India, Thailand and Malaysia.

Dr. Han said that the power that will accomplish this goal is the Japanese church members. Since the 1960s when Japanese missionaries were sent out, their dedicated work is recognized both inside and outside the church as a major contributing factor to the church’s success worldwide. Dr. Han said that the Japanese members must play a crucial in bringing victory in Vision 2020, and that she is depending on them. “It is the dedication and devotion of Japanese members that will make it possible to expand the membership of the Unification Church, and the Japanese members are very important to our future.”

This speaking tour to the important church regions in Japan announced to the Japanese members a new era in the church under the leadership of Dr. Han, and urged them to take positive action for victory. One Japanese church leader said, “We are standing on the frontline in worldwide missionary activities and as the Japanese members continue to work at the heart of the missionary force, and Dr. Han is supporting us to fulfill this responsibility. All the Japanese members will do our best to fulfill what Dr. Han has asked of us.”

Japanese Prime Minister Abe continues to follow policies of cool relations with Korea. Despite this, Dr. Moon continued with numerous civilian exchange programs to further Korea – Japan harmony, including large scale projects like the Korea – Japan tunnel, and the many kinds of projects he has carried out during the past half century preparing for the Pacific Rim era are receiving notice again today. We can expect further contributions to Korea- Japan relations from the Unification Church in upcoming years, now making a new start under Dr. Han.

Japanese people think that the focus of the Unification Principle on the family appeals to Japanese people, and is one reason that the Unification Church has a large following in Japan. Oyamada Hideo, Chairman of the Council for World Peace(left) and Aoyama Takashi, formerly of the Education and Science Ministry, were interviewed for this article.

Father's Life in the Spiritual World and Our Lives of Faith

Dinner for the Compilation Committee of Champumo Gyeong

Hak Ja Han, December 15, 2013

Hak Ja Han, December 15, 2013

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for your hard work and dedication. The very first determination I made after True Father's ascension was to dedicate this scripture. A few days ago, I spoke at the Korean pastors' assembly about a dream I had.

I was busy with a lot of work and could not accompany True Father. Then, I thought I had to find Father. No one, however, knew where Father was. It then came to my mind that the spiritual world had a modern system installed and asked that a remote control be brought in. Once I turned a screen on, Father's location came up directly. When I found Father, he was sitting outside in a sunny place. Father was sitting there and members were sitting by his side. The atmosphere between Father and the members was one in which they were asking questions and Father was giving answers. However, Father seemed to be waiting for more members to come. When I looked closely at Father, I realized he looked quite exhausted.

So I told Father, "Please come here." In reality, however, when Father did Hoon Dok Hae for a long time and was quite exhausted, I tried hard, using different methods to conclude Hoon Dok Hae early, but it usually didn't work out. In the dream, however, Father came shortly afterward. I noticed how his lips were black and not even blue. That is how exhausted he was. My heart pained a lot seeing Father waiting for one more life under such difficult circumstance. There are probably those among you who have had a lot of experiences with Father conducting long Hoon Dok Hae sessions and then receiving taffies and candies whenever one of our grandchildren will come into the room. Within the dream, I also prepared pumpkin taffies as I went to look for Father. I told Father, "I will go to the members there, distribute these pumpkin taffies among them and explain to them the situation. Hence, please have lunch and rest a bit." Father compliantly listened to what I said. He took an envelope out of his pocket that had two million won in it and gave it to me, telling me to distribute it among the members who were there.

So I attended Father on that side and when I went to the other side, I noticed another house next to it and saw a room. Within that room, I saw men in suits talking about themselves. That scene seemed to be depicting your life of faith today; you say you are conducting a life of faith and are attending True Parents; yet, you have fallen short of the foundation expected by True Parents and have been humanistic and selfcentered, thinking and worrying about yourselves. Father's last words…Their attitudes weren't centered on single-minded practice through absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience.

I remember their attitude. Weren't you chosen as blessed families from among fallen humanity by True Parents? Are you all blessed members?

Even though you are still very inadequate compared to the foundation True Father hopes for, you have been blessed indeed through partaking in this work of arranging Father's teachings. Are you aware of the indescribable glory and blessings you have received through it?

Please ensure that this work is well done so that Father no longer has to worry and be concerned. This scripture, through which our descendants will always be educated in accordance with the standard desired by True Parents, will be the only textbook, the very first and last eternal textbook. With such determination, I ask you to do your very best. Will you do that? Thank you. Please do your best to ensure that there is no cause for accusations and that True Parents' status is elevated by it. Become one with a heart that you will accomplish this very first, supreme and historic task of compiling Father's teachings. I hope you can do this task well with a heart of gratitude from that standpoint.

Did you all enjoy your time here? Did you all say, I love you, to Heaven with a heart of gratitude? While enjoying nature, did you pledge in front of it saying, I will become a blessed member, pastor, and leader that you want me to become?

How did nature respond? Did nature say you are doing your best?

Did it say that you can never trick nature? When a farmer plants seeds, the farmer must pour so much dedication and love into the work. How does nature repay the farmer? Nature replies to that love with a big, beautiful harvest. Nature does not lie.

As for my message to you today, I would like to first ask whether you know you are historic figures. Thanks to whom could you become such figures? You could become historic figures through True Parents. They are the hope of humanity. Are you aware that you carry responsibility? You don't? This is quite early in the day. I talked about UPA with the president of FFWPU-Korea. What I would like to ask of you all is for first- and second-generation to unite at this time of a new start. Have you made individual preparations for the future? Are you doing that?

I asked Rev. [Kyeong Seuk] Lu, the president of FFWPU-Korea, about your average age and he told me you were in your mid-sixties on average. What do you think of this? You probably think, We are definitely not in our full youth and have become a bit older.

There is no guarantee that your body will be healthy for a hundred years. Right? Passing sixty or seventy means that you have already received the date when you will go to the eternal world. As pastors and leaders, how much of a good environment were you able to create from your surroundings? This is quite important. You cannot obtain the results or fruits just by talking.

Don't you all wonder what Mother is like? Do you already know a lot? There might be first-generation members who may think, I know True Father quite well but I do not really know True Mother.

Those who had the opportunity to visit the Won Jeon may know that Grandmother Cho Won-mo is also buried there. Did you know that? She is the grandmother within the mother providence. Heaven's providence made preparations for a long time to send the Returning Messiah to the Korean Peninsula. Even though the history of Christianity in Korea is short, she was unlike other Christians within this short history who were waiting for the Messiah to return on the clouds. Her family prepared and waited for the Returning Messiah to come in the flesh.

According to Father, the mother of the universe must come from a family with only one daughter for threegenerations. Grandmother Cho is my maternal grandmother and was the only daughter. Dae-mo nim was also the only daughter. So was I. What is quite profound and intriguing was that when Father first saw me, he asked, "What is your name?" After I gave him my name, he suddenly closed his eyes and said, "I offer my gratitude to Heaven for making so-and-so to be born in Korea." When I was blessed in 1960, Grandmother Cho ascended. However, she passed away knowing whom I was getting married to.

This happened in the early 1960s. First-generation members will probably know this. There was a Buddhist saint called Yoon cheong jeong shim, who was well known even in political and financial circles. This person came to me one day and talked about Grandmother Cho. I told him she was my grandmother. The Buddhist monk then accurately drew Grandmother Cho. Grandmother Cho, who knew True Father's mission, had appeared in front of this monk and told him to make fitting preparations. The monk did make those preparations in reality. He was quite famous in those days. True Father and I tried to bless him and told him we wanted to. However, he replied that he had set up a standard of conditions to offer and still had some left to do. He wanted to complete them before receiving the blessing. However, he ended up going to the spiritual world one day. I thought that was the end, but Grandmother Cho then instructed a lady in the Lee clan in the same field as the Buddhist monk to make the same preparations. This lady made the preparations after consulting with the Korean headquarters. That was when Father was in Danbury.

We all know how important an object for the condition is through the Divine Principle. True Father had to be crowned as the king of kings through the Christian foundation, upon which he came as the Messiah. However, this Christian foundation in the United States sent True Father to hell. They incarcerated him in prison. Since Father had to be crowned as the king of kings, Grandmother Cho instructed this lady to make the necessary preparations. The ceremony was then conducted with Father when he briefly came out of prison. You have never heard about this. I am the only person who knows it. This is how the providence has developed through generations in a family.

Did you conduct the Coronation of God's Kingship Ceremony or the Entrance to Cheon Jeong Gung? Did you help True Father?

Who helped him? I fulfilled my responsibility as True Mother. This also applies to you. You stand today in a new historical age and at the center of the Cheon Il Guk era. If we are to speak in terms used in the secular world, you are noble families. What is a noble family? It means you are part of the realm of the imperial family. You have entered the realm of the imperial family. However, did you prepare for your future descendants? As pastors and leaders in charge of organizations and businesses, did you make the necessary preparations to continue the family line? If you do not make those preparations, the lineage of your prestigious families will end at the first-generation.

Do you want to be in such a state? Please answer with louder voices. Then, what do you have to do? You must ensure that the family line is carried on in your families and that they become loyal noble families. What happens when someone says, "so-and-so's father and mother were completely dedicated as first-generation members, but the family line has been cut off." This is serious.

Haven't I established UPA in order to help you? I have made a better environment for you in all details; hence, you must fulfill your responsibilities. What do you think of that? In order to fulfill my mission as True Mother, I have led the providence and ensured that it is carried on by future generations in this way, so that you can reach Heaven through the Unification community and all of True Parents' work. You will shed tears of gratitude for Heaven's great blessings and love. Heaven has prepared such a good environment for you, but you are now the problem.

I actually did not want to come to Yong Pyong. When True Father was still alive, you received a lot of pumpkin taffy whenever you came for Hoon Dok Hae. Right? Do you remember the pumpkin taffy? I have brought some here today. I decided to bring this taffy with me because I had a dream of Father. In that dream, I was too busy and was moving around. Father went out. I looked for Father. I somehow turned on a screen with a remote control and could find where Father had gone. I realized that the spiritual world also had a modern system installed. When I found Father, he was sitting. He seemed to be waiting for members. There were a few young members on the side.

When they asked questions, Father explained the answers to them. However, when I saw Father close up, I realized he looked exhausted.

I said to Father, "Father, please come." Then Father compliantly came. When I saw him coming, I noticed how his lips were black and not even blue because of extreme exhaustion. Then I told Father, "Father, it is lunchtime. Please have lunch. I will distribute some pumpkin taffy among those members."

Father gave me something he took out of his pocket. It was two million won. He told me to give it to the members that were there. I received it and made Father rest. I then distributed the pumpkin taffy. I noticed a room in one corner and people in it, wearing suits. Those people seemed to be pastors. Father was waiting for them outside and they were talking among themselves. What did I do? I told them to get their acts together. I feel that this may be an honest image of you.

Did you empty your minds during the two days? Do you pledge to invest 100 percent, 120 percent and fulfill your responsibility for God's will? The image that the spiritual world showed of you is too weak. It is inadequate. This is what I saw. You say that you love True Parents, but I feel that you have loved True Parents less than you love yourselves, your children and those related to you. Now, don't you always talk about absolute obedience at all cost as you lead your life of faith? However, do your bodies listen to that completely? I heard that this assembly ends tomorrow. Please deeply reflect on this problem once again and make fresh starts as new people. I have come all this way with the hope that you can establish noble families that remain for eternity in the era of Cheon Il Guk.

You are truly blessed people. The more you offer conditions for Heaven, Heaven will repay you back in multiples. It is my hope that you fully experience all of these in your lives. Do you understand? I feel a bit overwhelmed as I reminisce about the past. I will stop speaking here. Since I have come here, I would love to hear three songs from you.

My grandmother, Won Mo Jo

To the National Pastors Assembly in Korea

The following is a translation of True Mother's message at the National Pastor's Assembly in Korea on November 21, 2013. This is an unofficial translation from notes by one of the participants and should not be considered authoritative.

Have you been living with appreciation and love towards Heaven? Have you pledged to become blessed families and pastors that nature wants? (Yes) What does nature do? Nature doesn't deceive you. When farmers plant seeds, they put all their love and Jeong Seong (devotion), and in return nature gives back to you more than you invested. There are no tricks.

You know that you are the providential people, right? You are the providential people and the hope of true humankind because of True Parents.

Do you know that is why you have responsibility?

Before I came here I told the president of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU)- Korea about the Universal Peace Academy (UPA). I want to ask you to unite with the second generation. When you see yourself individually, how ready are you for improving yourself? Or how much have you worked on yourself?

Currently, the average age of the pastors is around 60 years old. What do you think? Our youth is withering away a little bit.

You have no guarantee that you will live to be 100 years old. When we age past our 60s and 70s, we should start to prepare to go to the eternal [spirit] world.

How prepared are you for establishing the proper environment? This is very important. If you only talk about it, there won't be fruitful results. We need to harvest the fruits.

Do you know that True Mother is important? Are you curious as to why this is so? I think there are people who know Father well but not Mother. [God] prepared the Korean peninsula to receive the Second Coming. Although the history of [Korean Christianity] is short, there are many different beliefs established within its history about the Coming of the Second Advent. One was that he would return on the clouds. Another belief that Mother's family -- my family -- believed was that the Second Advent would come in a physical body and there needed be three generations of only daughters who would prepare the foundation for his arrival.

My grandmother, Mrs. Won Mo Jo, was an only daughter. Dae Mo Nim [my mother, Soon Ae Hong] was an only daughter, and I am an only daughter as well.

Mysteriously, when I first met Father, he asked my name and I told him. And he said, with eyes closed, "Thank you to God for letting this person be born in Korea. Thank you."

My grandmother Mrs. Won Mo Jo, passed away in her sixties. Cheong Jeong Yoon, a famous Bosahl (spiritualist), well known in the Buddhist community, among politicians and within the financial circles in the 1960's, came to me and talked about my grandmother, Mrs. Won Mo Jo.

This famous Bosahl said my grandmother revealed Father's mission, and the Bosahl decided to help with preparations. Father and I determined to give this Bosahl the blessing, but the Boshal wanted to offer more Jeong Seong (devotional conditions) towards completing the mission. While preparing and offering Jeong Seong, the spiritualist passed away.

After Cheong Jeong Yoon passed away, Mrs. Jo appeared again to Mrs. Lee, another spiritualist, and to asked her continue preparing and offering Jeong Seong to proclaim True Mother and True Father as the King and Queen of the Cosmos. At this point in history, Father was in Danbury. So, together with headquarters, we prepared these important conditions. Father was supposed to become a King of all Kings, but the United States and Christianity opposed Father and sent him to prison.

At the time, grandmother [Mrs. Lee, representing Mrs. Jo spiritually] came shortly to help to crown the King of all Kings.

It took many generations to perform proper conditions to create the foundation for the providence for events such as: the Coronation Ceremony of God's Kingship, the Entrance of the Cheon Jeong Gung and the Coronation of the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind. Did you help with these preparations? Who helped with this? (It was True Mother!) Mother performed all of her responsibilities. (Aju!)

It is same for you. We all need to perform our responsibilities so that the position we stand in becomes the center of the new history. From the world's point of view, you are prestigious families.

What is a prestigious family? You were engrafted into the royal family and are intended to prepare descendants. As the pastors, as the leaders of the organizations, did you prepare to carry on the lineage?

If you can't prepare that then the prestigious family will disappear inside one generation. Do you want that to happen? We need to continue and nurture the line that can be loyal. Ending the line is a very serious problem. So I founded the UPA (Universal Peace Academy) to help you. I prepared items from A to Z for you, but what kind of preparations have you made?

I've been leading the providence to fulfill Mother's responsibilities. Now you will encounter Heaven through True Parents' efforts. Humankind will shed tears of appreciation for this great grace.

Do you remember during Hoon Dok Hae receiving a lot of Hobak Yeot (Korean traditional pumpkin taffy) when Father was alive? I brought some today. The reason I decided to bring these is because I dreamt about Father.

In my dream, Father was busy and he was out but I found him. Spirit world had a very modern system of operations. When I turned on a remote controller, there was Father. When I found him, he was waiting for the members and when the members asked questions he answered them. But he looked so tired even his lips were black. So I told him, "Have some lunch, I'll give them some Hobak Yeot." And Father told me to give them 2,000,000 won (about $1,884) worth. So I received that and let Father rest and gave Hobak Yeot to the members. But in the corner, I think I saw pastors just talking to each other. Father was waiting outside. So I told them to pay attention.

Probably I glimpsed the real side of you. Have you emptied your mind in the last two days? Did you pledge that you will fulfill your responsibilities 100 percent, 200 percent?

The pastors I saw in the spirit world were insufficient. I witnessed that. You would say you love True Parents but I think you love them less than you love your own children and people who are related to your children.

When you work on your life of faith you always say absolute obedience, right? But does your body listen to it?

I want you to reflect on yourself before you leave today, turn over a new leaf and start new. I came this far with hopes for you to become a prestigious family that will last eternally in the era of Cheon Il Guk.

You are very fortunate people. The more you offer your Jeong Seong (devotion) for the sake of Heaven, the more Heaven returns to you by multiplying it. So please make your utmost efforts.
