2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents for Second- and Third-Generation Members

The Hawaii workshop for forty-six second- and third-generation members, which True Mother personally guided, occurred from July 22 to August 4. The theme of the workshop was "Let us become devoted children that love True Parents!" This was the second Hawaiian workshop; the first was for the true grandchildren only. The following article will provide you with an outline on last year's workshop and a description of what likely occurred at this year's workshop based on a schedule we received before going to print.

The 2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents started on July 22 and will continue until August 4 at Queen Coffee Garden, Hawaii. The workshop's theme is "Let us become devoted children that love the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind!" Forty-five second- and third-generation members, aged fifteen to sixteen, will go through the workshop. The aim of the workshop is to enable the young people to inherit True Parents' traditions and filial hearts, experience God's heart at the time of the Creation by interacting with nature in Hawaii and to guide them in nurturing the dream of becoming Cheon Il Guk leaders.

As background information, the surprise attack by the Empire of Japan on United States' naval facilities in and around Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941, resulted in the U.S. declaring war on Japan; hence, Hawaii formed the basis through which liberation came to Korea, God's hometown. Additionally, on December 6, 1991, before their visit to Pyongyang, True Parents offered conditions in Hawaii to be able to embrace Kim Il-sung of North Korea.

Last year, under True Mother's instruction and guidance, the first workshop occurred, for thirty days, May 6–June 6. The true grandchildren went through that workshop, which had the theme, "Let us plant seeds of gratitude and love!"

At the 2013 workshop, the true grandchildren started their day with Hoon Dok Hae at half past six every day. They took turns reading As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen. After Hoon Dok Hae, they would greet True Mother. Morning hours also included listening to lectures on the Divine Principle and True Parents' life courses and learning True Parents' favorite songs and other Korean songs, to help the grandchildren experience Korean sentiments. They then had some time to do their personal schoolwork.

Programs in the afternoon focused on experiencing nature in Hawaii or doing special activities. True Mother usually accompanied the true grandchildren when they visited some beautiful places in Hawaii. Special activities included artwork (drawing, taking photos, ukulele lessons), sports and hobby activities (yoga, table tennis, swimming, fishing, snorkeling), touring and experiential activities such as manual labor (harvesting coffee beans, planting trees) or such things as touring a sea horse farm, horseback riding, watching movies and other activities.

In the evenings, the true grandchildren said goodnight to True Mother. They then wrote an entry in a diary to contemplate what they had done during the day, discussed the day with the other grandchildren and then went to bed.

Taking into consideration the various flight itineraries, the workshop graduation, or completion ceremony, occurred on August 3 at 5 pm. At that time, True Mother asked her grandchildren to become proud grandchildren that follow True Parents' path. The true grandchildren generally testified that they were able to learn about and empathize with True Parents' difficult courses through the workshop and that they were determined to become devoted grandchildren that follow True Parents' examples. They expressed gratitude to True Mother for hosting the workshop.

True Mother then instructed that a similar workshop take place the following summer in Hawaii. She asked that the workshop be established as a fourteen-day workshop and be expanded to include forty students -- ten from each of the four major regions (Korea, Japan, Europe and North America). This year's workshop was prepared based on these instructions.

The 2014 Aloha Reunion

On the afternoon of the first day of this year's workshop, Tuesday, July 22, a welcoming ceremony, orientation and team meetings occurred. Pastor Seong Tae Cho was the master of ceremonies at the welcoming ceremony, which started with a holy song. Everyone recited the Family Pledge and bowed and Ki Hoon Kim, regional president of North America prayed. Ms. Moon Sun Jin, director-general of the FFWPU International Headquarters, gave a welcoming address and then True Mother spoke. Members of the workshop staff introduced themselves. Sun Jin nim gave the benediction and Pastor Cho made some announcements.

Dinner began at 7:50 and concluded at 8:50. Following that was an introduction of the Wonmo Pyeongae Foundation and then a ten-minute prayer session. After concluding the day's schedule, the workshop participants had free time until their bedtime, between 10:50 and 11:00.

The basic schedule started the second day; it included a fifty-minute Hoon Dok Hae from 6 am, yoga for an hour (led by Sun Jin nim) breakfast, presentations and then lectures on the Divine Principle and True Parents' life courses.

Enhancing the basic schedule were special outdoor activities in the mornings, including a visit to a Hawaiian research institute on natural energy on July 25 and sightseeing on the Island of Hawaii for the whole of the following day. The workshop group went fishing and visited the Hilton Waikoloa Village Oceanfront Resort on the morning of the 29, played on the beach on the morning of July 30 and then repeated the July 29 morning schedule on the morning of the final day of the month.

Afternoons mainly focused on special presentations and lectures on the Divine Principle but also included some special afternoon outdoors activities. The schedule called for them to go to a beach on July 24 and to visit the Mauna Kea Observatories, which has the world's largest observatory for optical, infrared, and sub-millimeter astronomy, on July 27. Apparently, they will compete in an athletic competition the next day and visited Pololu Valley, which oversees and has trails down to a black sand beach on August 1. Yute games and free time filled their afternoon the next day. They held a cultural festival the following afternoon and the workshop graduation ceremony took place on August 4.

During the course of the workshop, the young people heard a series of presentations on broad topics, including one describing True Parents' deep connection to Hawaii by Won Ju Jeong, senior secretary to True Mother. Dr. Man Ho Kim, secretary-general of the FFWPUI International Office, spoke about True Parents' vision for the completion of the providence. Jin Chun Kim, deputy chairman of the Cheon Il Guk Supreme Council gave one presentation on understanding the Cheon Il Guk Constitution and another on understanding what occurs at Chung Pyung spiritually. An older member of the second generation, Won Jae Hwang, an associate professor of international politics, gave two presentations. A professor at Cheongshim Theological Seminary, Gwang Bong Cho, gave the Divine Principle lectures. Head teacher Dong U Kim, of the Universal Peace Academy, gave the lectures on True Parents' life courses.

We received the schedule in advance of the workshop, but the workshop likely followed fairly close to it. The workshop concluded on Monday, August 4. The young people that took part in the workshop presented their reflections on the experiences they had. The workshop's conclusion mirrored its ceremonial beginning, with a master of ceremonies, pledge service and bows. Mr. Farley Jones, chairman of the Pacific Rim Educational Foundation, prayed. Sun Jin nim spoke and True Mother gave her concluding remarks. Each of the workshop graduates received a certificate. Sun Jin nim prayed and then a group cheer marked the conclusion of the fourteenday workshop.

Second- and third-generation members participating in the 2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents had an opportunity to nurture their dreams of becoming Cheon Il Guk leaders, not only through lectures on the Divine Principle and True Parents' life courses, but also through the natural beauty that surrounded them in Hawaii. They had a chance to reach toward the theme of the workshop itself, to become proud grandchildren that inherit True Parents' traditions and filial hearts in response to True Mother's hope. Our Heavenly Parent and True Parents have focused their special attention, grace and love on this workshop in Hawaii.

Stella Maris Arzuaga book Mujeres y Algo Mas praises Dr. Hak Ja Han

Prominent Women, a book published in Argentina introducing women who have greatly contributed to world peace and the development of South America, includes a part on True Mother. The author, Stella Maris Arzuaga, is an Argentinian poet and writer from Arrecifes in Buenos Aires. She graduated from a college of education and served as the head teacher of Santa Teresita Nino Jesus School. She is a member of "History of the Clergy" of San Nicolás in Buenos Aires. She has devoted herself for the past thirty years to the study of the history of her native land. While involved in social educational projects, she published That Street and Its People, and The History of Arrecifes Municipal Assembly.

With the purpose of instilling courage and confidence in all women, she compiled a book that introduces the achievements of forty-five woman leaders that contributed to world peace and the development of South America. In this book, True Mother appears in a three-page article along with her photograph. The author introduced her as a person who teaches the logic of love. Here are some quotations from the book: "With her husband, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Dr. Hak Ja Han contributed in elevating and emphasizing the stature and role of women worldwide."

"In particular, as the chairwoman of the Women's Federation for World Peace, she carried out various support and educational programs for elevating women's stature and establishing true families based on true motherly love. She also carried out campaigns for reconciliation and resolution of international conflicts."

"Rather than the logic of power advocated by men, Dr. Han taught the logic of love. In 1993, she was the first Korean woman to address a meeting of United States senators and congressional representatives on Capitol Hill; months later, she was also the first Korean woman to give an address in the United Nations. She has received international honors and awards for her contribution to world peace."

True Mother’s Words at Aloha Reunion

True Mother spoke at the opening ceremony of the “2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents”. This is a currently ongoing workshop for youth and takes place in Hawaii. True Mother is there now, actively speaking, sharing and pouring her heart into the workshop. Here are her words on the opening day:

My message today for you is to become water that spreads out the true love of our Heavenly Parent and the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind. Water is a living substance that is essential to all people, creation and animals, without exception. Right? We may go by without breathing for some time; however, what will happen if we don’t have water? We die. Though water is so precious, it has become polluted; however, we cannot let it kill all living beings, right?

Thanks to True Parents, you are like pure water born from blessed families for the first time in 6,000 years. You are like pure water. All living beings should be delighted with your presence wherever you go. However, we do not enjoy such an environment today. Why is that so? You will learn why through this workshop; you will learn what kind of people True Parents are, what are your responsibilities and mission and the victorious environment that True Parents have achieved until now. You must be able to see it yourself and experience it. You are still growing; hence, I hope you all can nurture big dreams through this workshop period. Do you understand?

True Parents must not only be your True Parents and but also humanity’s. Even though the seven billion people of the fallen world do not know how they ended up in such an environment, their original minds desire to become happy, to find peace and to live a good life. Yet, the reality is that humanity, throughout history, has been cultivating all problems. They are raising those problems. Not a day passes by comfortably. We thought that we would be happy if food was abundant and lived well, but that isn’t the case either. We become discontent. Why is that so?

Originally, we were supposed to grow in accordance to God’s word, and receive God’s blessing. This world, however, could not receive that blessing. The Fall of Adam and Eve, the first ancestors, brought about the dismal human history. God was supposed to become the King of peace and the owner; however, because the world fell under Satan, peace could not reign in the world. When you observe human history, territorial problems, racial problems, religions and the culture developed from the convenience of civilization, these are all causing destruction, right? The only people who can resolve all these problems are True Parents. Only True Parents can do that. Yet, not many people know of True Parents.

This points back to your parents, who received the Holy Marriage Blessing by True Parents, who were supposed to create a wider and bigger environment in front of True Parents, yet—what can we say?—they lacked the ability to do so. As a result, they not have the needed support in all fields. Hence, I would like to entertain great hopes of your big dreams. What do you think? The first thing I did after True Father’s ascension was to organize Father’s teachings. We have accumulated around 600 volumes for the past fifty or so years. Not everyone can read them all, right?

It is difficult to hold on to all those volumes and read them. It would be difficult to digest the many contents. That is why I have classified the teachings, given titles to them and organized them by level, so that you will be able to easily understand and digest the teachings that True Father gave to raise you into beings that can bring about new changes through the blessing of rebirth; hence, I mobilized all theology experts and am in the process of making three volumes, two of which have already been completed. The last volume is Cham Bu Mo Gyeong. Once these three volumes are completed, all humanity will be able to have access to these teachings, which outline how we were meant to live.

All people need water. Living beings dance wherever there is water. However, we need to be the pure water in this world—pure, untainted and not polluted. The world today, however, has become greatly polluted. As you probably know through the news, this is a season when Korea should be having rain. It is the rainy season in Korea. However, it hasn’t been raining much, and this drought has caused fields and farms to go dry and crack. Human mistakes have caused such phenomenon, and I cannot just helplessly watch this happen as the True Parents. We must all stand up and correct this problem. We must educate people that it is important to restore the environment into the one that God created, a world that has not fallen and one that is pure. This is our responsibility.

Now, when we look at this world, Hawaii can be seen as the most unpolluted island in the world. There are seven islands in Hawaii, and we call this island the Big Island. This is the most unpolluted island. The volcano is still active and exploding underwater. In other words, the island is still growing. It is a growing island. As you observe this amazing nature during the workshop, I hope you can offer sincere gratitude to our Heavenly Parent. As you compare the nature here and that of your countries, please reflect on the field you will study and how you can become leaders that can realize the ideal of the Kingdom of Heaven that our Heavenly Parent originally created, that same beauty within your countries. Please become determined to become like pure water.

Confidently convey the Word

When witnessing, do Christians in Japan still call us heretics? You must confidently convey the word. Christian history came about through its followers and priests.

However, the Unification Church is more fundamental and the religion of the only-begotten son himself. Then, what is there to be afraid of? Call the established churches the heretics. We are the orthodox. Do you understand? [Yes!] What is there to be afraid of? True Parents are at the center. For two thousand years, Heaven set up Christianity and at the end, his only-begotten son could meet the only-begotten daughter whom Heaven had raised, right? They met and became the True Parents. What more do we need other than that? Move with confidence. All religions can unite through True Parents. What is there to be afraid about Christianity? They must learn from us. Only by listening to the Divine Principle teachings and True Parents' teachings can one become a citizen of Cheon Il Guk and can one realize the Kingdom of God on earth and in heaven. Hence, if they still are adamant about calling us heretics, then it is their loss, right?

Let us advance confidently. We are in a position in which we possess both heaven and earth, right? You are True Parents' sons and daughters. What is there to be afraid of? They aren't even illegitimate children. Not yet. You, however, are the sons and daughters, right? What is there to be afraid of? Just as Chairman Song said, we must give the Blessing to many people. We must bless a lot of married couples. Once we expand the blessing environment, then the tribe, people and nation can unite.

True Parents have clearly showed you the way and lived their entire lives practicing it. In less than even an hour, you were able to listen to key contents on the path True Parents followed until now, their work and the environment they made, contents with deep implications. [Yes]

There are many other things to talk about other than this. However, this particular part covered the work True Parents did in the Americas as we carried out the world providence. We cannot but be grateful, feel indebted and love our Father and Mother, our True Parents. Did you feel this deep in your bones this morning? [Yes]

You were born in the same age as True Parents and your families were able to participate in realizing the hopes of our Heavenly Parent and True Parents. How glorious a position you stand in! How blessed a position you are in! If you think about this, you cannot sit still. You are younger than me, right? Yes, you are our hope. However, I cannot but worry about our future generations. It cannot work with just you. You, yourselves, must prepare for your future descendants.

You must raise your juniors, the second- and third- generation members. Until now, the first-generation members had to work hard with True Parents to create a good environment from scratch and could not invest much in future descendants as a result. This is not the case any longer. We have ushered in Foundation Day and Cheon Il Guk. Then, what should we do to win over all the 7.5 billion people in becoming Cheon Il Guk citizens? We must have a safety device, right? You, alone, cannot do it. You should raise successors and inheritors. What did I say? I told you to form noble families, right? Noble families must raise successors. You should be able to raise sons and daughters greater than you.

I believe you are all great people. I want to boast of you. One more thing I would like to ask of you is to raise devoted children who are greater, trustworthy and more loyal than you. Only by doing so, can our future become eternal and hopeful. Until the day we can all dance in joy and live with our Heavenly Parent and True Parents, I ask everyone to do your best first of all until 2020.

Become Like the Pure Water the World Needs

This is Mother’s welcoming message to the young people attending the 2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents at Queen Coffee Garden, Hawaii, on July 22.

When you look at history, territorial problems, racial problems, religious problems and the development of not-so-good culture for the convenience of civilization are causing destruction. Do you understand? The only people that can resolve all these problems are True Parents. Only True Parents can do that. Yet, not many people know of True Parents.

This points out that your parents, who received the blessing first, whether they are in the first or second generation, did not fulfill their responsibilities. Do you understand? They were supposed to create a wider, larger environment in front of True Parents; yet, what can you say? They lacked the ability and the competence to carry it out, so they were not capable enough to support True Parents in all fields. Not everyone can read them all. It is difficult to read all those volumes. Digesting the material they contain would be hard. You are still growing, so I hope you all can nurture expansive dreams during this workshop. Do you understand? True Parents must not be only your true parents but also humanity's. Even though the seven billion people of the fallen world do not know how they ended up in such an environment, their original minds desire to become happy, to find peace and to live a good life. Yet, the reality is that members of the human race throughout history have been aggravating every problem. Not a day goes by comfortably. We thought that we would be happy if food were abundant and if we lived well, but that is not the case either. We become discontent.

Why is that? It is because the people of the world today did not live according to God's word and did not receive the blessing. The Fall, committed by Adam and Eve, the first ancestors, brought about our dismal history. God was supposed to become the king of peace and the owner, but because the world came under Satan, peace could not reign in the world. Do you understand? When you look at history, territorial problems, racial problems, religious problems and the development of not-so-good culture for the convenience of civilization are causing destruction. Do you understand? The only people that can resolve all these problems are True Parents. Only True Parents can do that. Yet, not many people know of True Parents.

This points out that your parents, who received the blessing first, whether they are in the first or second generation, did not fulfill their responsibilities. Do you understand? They were supposed to create a wider, larger environment in front of True Parents; yet, what can you say? They lacked the ability and the competence to carry it out, so they were not capable enough to support True Parents in all fields. Consequently, I would like to entertain great hopes in your big dreams. What do you think?

The first thing I did after True Father's ascension was to organize Father's teachings. We have accumulated around six hundred volumes of his speeches over the past fifty or so years. Not everyone can read them all. It is difficult to read all those volumes. Digesting the material they contain would be hard. That is why I have classified the material, given titles to parts and have organized it by level so that you will be able to easily understand and digest the teachings Father gave for the purpose of raising you into beings that can bring about new changes. For that purpose, I am in the process of making three volumes; two of which have already been completed. The last volume is Cham Bumo Gyeong. Once these three volumes are completed, all humanity will have access to these teachings and will know how they are supposed to live.

All people need water. Living beings dance wherever there is water. However, you are the only pure water in the world. You are pure, untainted and not polluted. The world today, however, has become heavily polluted.

As you probably know through the news, this is a season when Korea should be having rain. It is the rainy season there, but it has not been raining much. This drought has caused fields and farms to go dry and crack. Human mistakes have caused this phenomenon and I cannot just helplessly watch this happen as the True Mother. We must stand up and correct this problem. We must teach people that we must restore the environment to the form that God created, a world that has not fallen and one that is pure. This is our responsibility. Do you understand?

Now, when we look at the world, Hawaii can be seen as the most unpolluted island in the world. The Hawaiian Islands comprise seven islands, and we call the island of Hawaii, which is the island we are on, the Big Island. This is the most unpolluted island. The volcano that created it is still active and exploding underwater. In other words, the island is still expanding. It is a growing island.

As you observe this amazing environment during the workshop, I hope you can offer sincere gratitude to our Heavenly Parent. As you enjoy the natural surroundings, please think of the environment in your countries and reflect on what field you need to study in order to become leaders that can make your countries beautiful, that can realize the ideal of the kingdom of heaven that our Heavenly Parent originally intended and leaders that can become pure water. Please be determined to become like pure water. Do you understand?

You were chosen to be in this workshop from among second-generation members around the world. Dozens, even hundreds of young members want to be where you are now. This is how precious every single moment you spend here is. Please always remember this and study hard.

2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents

On July 22, True Mother spoke at the opening ceremony of the “2014 Aloha Reunion with True Parents”. This is a currently ongoing workshop for youth and takes place in Hawaii. True Mother is there now, actively speaking, sharing and pouring her heart into the workshop. Here are her words on the opening day:

My message today for you is to become water that spreads out the true love of our Heavenly Parent and the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind. Water is a living substance that is essential to all people, creation and animals, without exception. Right? We may go by without breathing for some time; however, what will happen if we don’t have water? We die. Though water is so precious, it has become polluted; however, we cannot let it kill all living beings, right?

Thanks to True Parents, you are like pure water born from blessed families for the first time in 6,000 years. You are like pure water. All living beings should be delighted with your presence wherever you go. However, we do not enjoy such an environment today. Why is that so? You will learn why through this workshop; you will learn what kind of people True Parents are, what are your responsibilities and mission and the victorious environment that True Parents have achieved until now. You must be able to see it yourself and experience it. You are still growing; hence, I hope you all can nurture big dreams through this workshop period. Do you understand?

Originally, we were supposed to grow in accordance to God’s word, and receive God’s blessing. This world, however, could not receive that blessing. That is why I have classified the teachings, given titles to them and organized them by level, so that you will be able to easily understand and digest the teachings that True Father gave to raise you into beings that can bring about new changes through the blessing of rebirth; hence, I mobilized all theology experts and am in the process of making three volumes, two of which have already been completed. The last volume is Cham Bu Mo Gyeong. Once these three volumes are completed, all humanity will be able to have access to these teachings, which outline how we were meant to live.
