The Certificate to Enter the Heavenly Kingdom

I am pressed with time to reach my destiny. You look at the next mountain pass and say, "That mountain pass must be the final place which determines my life or death." This is why I must go over the pass. I must dash ahead to reach there. Such an urgent feeling proceeds always for me. If you have such urgency, you will never wonder whether you can go on or not. You just go even if no one helps you. This is the spirit that members of Unification Church should have while walking this path.

With such determination and urgency, you will move forward centered on God's word, you will naturally experience God's heart permeating your existence. If you are living like this, Satan will give up following you. Once Satan is separated from you, God will relate to you directly. Then, you will relate with God's heart deeply. Do you understand? (Yes) So, if you know God's word and practice His word 100 percent in your life, Satan will attest to you saying, "Without a doubt, you have completed God's word 100 percent. Thus, I cannot do anything against you." You must obtain such a certificate from Satan. Without receiving the certificate from Satan, you are not permitted to enter the Heavenly Kingdom.

Without gaining the certificate, Satan will ask you, "Where are you going? What? You are going to Heaven? You cannot go there because you still have conditions that disallow you to enter." No matter how hard you try, you cannot enter Heaven. Even if you get to the entrance of Heaven, God will not permit you to enter. Satan will protest to God, stating, "Heavenly Father, according to your principle, this guy is not qualified to stand near where You dwell. He belongs to my realm. Please send him back to me." God must accept Satan's argument. This is the reality.

Therefore, you must earn the certificate in the satanic world. You must earn the certificate! Would you like to receive it? (Yes) Yes? (Yes) Yes? Are you sure? (Yes) Some of you may be wondering, "Do I have to get the certificate from Satan? What does this mean? Satan is not even a physical being. What is that? It is impossible to get a physical certificate, no matter how much I want it. What is that certificate? Rev. Moon's talk sounds a little fishy." Have you seen Satan? You have not seen him. Then, how can you obtain the certificate from him? However, Satan is real. In order for you to pass the standard of the completion period, you must obtain the authority that comes from both spiritual and physical victory over Satan.

What is the standard to gain the authority? When you begin witnessing, a person who persecuted and opposed you is the spiritual and physical Satan. Do you follow? If you win over the person, he repents his past saying, "Finally, I understand, please forgive everything that I did up until now. In order to pay back to you, I am willing to die one hundred, one thousand or tens of thousands of times over." This is the certificate. Do you understand? Knowing this principle, God never hits first in order to make the enemy surrender. Make the enemy surrender by you being hit first. This is God's strategy. This is the formula by which you gain the certificate to return to God.

Because of this, Jesus prayed on the cross, "Father in Heaven, please forgive the Roman soldiers." This is the most wonderful story. With such a standard, Jesus shows his authority as son of God. So, not only the soldiers who pierced Jesus with the spears repented but other soldiers who heard the story of Jesus' prayer on the cross repented. With this power, the cosmos will turn upside down. Heaven and earth will be divided. If God witnesses such a standard in you, He will say, "I have been waiting and hoping to find a victor like you for 6,000 years." Then, you will be determined as a son of God with the complete authority. Once this standard is established on earth, God will be able to be proud of His son before all things in the universe. God will declares, "This is my child whom I have longed to find. Now, the entire universe praises my child." Do you follow me? This is why my teaching always culminates at this point.

When you are persecuted and opposed by everyone in your town, if you show the standard by which everyone naturally surrenders to you because of the true love you give to them, you are qualified as God's son who can unify this town. You will receive the certificate from the town level Satan. If you gain victory through natural surrender in your race, you will receive the race-level certificate of victory over Satan. If you do the same for the entire world, you will receive the world-level certificate. In order to be God's son, you must go beyond the world level and become the cosmic victor. In other words, you must endure suffering and anguish before the cosmos -- you must receive the certificate as you are aspiring to be like God practicing this principle. Even Jesus had to wait for two thousand years in order to welcome the age when he was able to receive the cosmic level certificate. Now, we are in the era when we can receive the cosmic level certificate. However, no seal of approval has been stamped on the certificate, yet. We must still go through the final step of this path.

I have trodden this path pioneering the way to open this process to you. If I establish the tradition of this victory through this course, this victory must be recognized by even this evil world and by all people of the world. Once the tradition is set, the world will surrender to the tradition. You cannot gain the world by money. What does it take to overcome the world? Through shedding tears for man, sweat for earth and blood for Heaven. Then, you must serve the world with the heart of parents and the body of a servant. Tears for man, sweat for earth, and blood for heaven, this is our wonderful motto. Understand? Unless you go through this formula, you will never become a victor of the infinite victorious realm. However, how well you can inherit this tradition will decide whether you reach the victorious realm. Having such a heart, you will be great. Do you understand?

What I thought about in Hungnam Prison

Question:

"Can you share your experience when you worked as a forced laborer in Hungnam Nitrogen Fertilizer factory?"

Answer:

If I talk about my experiences there, you will all be very serious and tense. Once I start talking about it, I will have so much to share. Each episode is a tearful story. Now that I think about the time, such a time was absolutely needed. It was a necessary time period for myself. Such a time is needed for you.

If someone who is taking responsibility for saving all humanity is hit once, it would be a condition for ten thousand people to escape from being hit thousands of times each. Once you understand such sacrifice in the past, it hurts your heart. Your heart naturally pains. By the same token, God always remembers my bitter experiences. Because you feel pain for me, you are standing in a noble position compared to people who persecuted me in the past. You will stand like a friend of the Teacher (Rev. Moon) at a time looking back at past history. Since the Teacher went through such a time period, you can make a condition before God that you would go back in history and become friends of the Teacher in this time, knowing what he went through. Without a condition, that is not going to happen. So, you need a time of listening to my story and realizing my suffering to shed your tears. So, should I start telling you my story? ("Yes!")

Rev. Moon went into a prison so many times. So, I am an expert of prisons. I understand the life at the bottom of human existence. I saw the reality of the miserable human life of this class. In the prison, I spent my life together with all kinds of criminals such as robbers. I slept and ate food together with them. I would tell you of the most pitiful people who received the ultimate sentence, namely death sentence. We were all in the same cell, together. I would never forget their thoughts and feelings.

If there is a way for them to avoid death, I would have told any methods or expediency. If there is a way to live and receive an order, there will be nothing that they will not do. For them, it would be most miserable and dreadful to have their names called. Once his name is called, it could have been the last time his name is ever called. So, each of them is shocked to hear his name called. Once called, he would have a deep sigh without knowing what's next. Observing that, Rev. Moon thought something like this. If a container is filled up to the top with water and you tell one of them, "If you put the container on your head, walk around Tokyo streets and don't spill one drop of water, you will be forgiven," it would have been possible for them to do this. Do you understand how desperate they are? If there is a way to live, they will do anything. So, because of their attachment to their lives, even as they sleep they continue to sigh.

As I saw such reality, it was my teacher, comparing me with them. I must serve God a lot more than them. I questioned myself, could I offer my sincere devotion with a more desperate heart than the prisoner's serious feelings toward his own life? I honestly was not confident. Then, I once prayed through them saying, "I want to have a more desperate heart." However, I have never been in the same situation, so that I really do not know. Once I am put in the same situation, I can say that it is not a problem for me to die. It will not be the issue. The real question that I think about is, if I can console and comfort God when facing death. I thought about these issues. So, I made up my mind, even if I face a death, I will not ask God to save me. Rather, it is my challenge and question how I can console God. I thought about these thoughts.

Once you stand in a miserable situation, God must know your every feeling and pain. As God loves you so much, He understands every bit of your feelings and sufferings. Knowing God experiences more pains and anguish than you seeing you suffer. How can you pray to Him, "Please save me, God. Help me to get out of this," since you are his child who should serve Him with filial piety. If you pray like that you are not a filial child. Therefore, I decided to be a filial son who can comfort and console God facing such a situation. The teacher does not pray to God when I am situated in such a position. I made my mind up not to pray. I walked this path with this determination. You cannot imagine how serious I have been. I cannot forget what I thought about at the time.

Rev. Moon has experienced many sorrowful situations, extreme agonies, and indescribable sufferings. However, I am in a position where I cannot pray asking for consolation and relief from God. Why is this? Adam received everything from God; yet he forsook everything and betrayed God. Therefore, I must stand in a position to indemnify that; and I must receive the blessing from God again.

This is Heavenly Law. When you push into a boundary of indemnity, you reach a point where you would rather die. You cannot do anything, not even pray. In such a position, you are totally vulnerable to Satan's attack; however, God cannot do anything about you.

Excerpt from the Address at the Second Workshop, July 6, 1967

Do you know how many tears I shed for God? One time, I wept for three days, straight. Through such experiences, I touched the depths of God's Heart. Even now when I think about the experience -- reaching the indescribable tenderness and loneliness of God's heart through investing my entire mind and spirit -- I have to think deeply about how sorrowful and anguished Jesus was. I also live in a place of solitude even lonelier than him. Do you need such a lonely teacher? (Yes.) Put yourself at the pinnacle of solitude! There, God will welcome you.

When I was imprisoned, I stood in such a place. Then, God witnessed to people and through the help of the spirit world they came to believe in me. The spirit world directly testified who I was and, thus I gained my disciples there. With this conviction, wherever I will go, there is nothing that I worry about. If I were taken to the southern tip of Africa, the furthest place from here by a helicopter right now, I will have absolutely no problem about the cultural environment -- about eating, sleeping and clothing. You must gain such a confidence.

What do you have to worry about? When you stand in the realm of God's Heart, place yourself in a position to receive God's compassion, and go out and obey Heaven. Then, there will be no one who will not obey and follow you. In order to create such people, I tell harsh things to you. Are you all right? Let's do it. (Yes.) Now, I will trust in you one hundred percent. As I place my trust in you, you must offer results worthy of this trust to Heaven!

Cheonji Lake, North Korea

Excerpt from the Address at the Second Workshop, July 6, 1967

One of the highest peaks of Korea is Baekdu Mountain. On the top of this mountain, there is a lake called Cheonji. This is a big lake -- its perimeter is 16 kilometers. The lake is always full of water. The water that comes out of this lake will become two major rivers in Korea -- Dumangang river (図們江, 두만강) to the east and the Amnokgang river (鴨緑江, 압록강) to the west.

I was hunted down and chased, and at last escaped to the top of this highest mountain, Baekdu. I cultivated and planted near Cheonji Lake and fed my followers. I cultivated sandy ocher, and planted peach trees. In such a miserable atmosphere of doom, there was one female follower who pledged to be absolutely loyal to me to the end, no matter what -- telling me she would never leave me. I thought that she had the faith and determination that backed up her pledge.

Then, one day, while we were on a boat, we experienced a heavy storm. The boat was damaged by the winds and started sinking. The captain of the boat told us, "This is the end. Let's make the final effort. But, be ready for the last moment." He said this as his last warning. At that moment this young lady thought of only her own situation, saving her own life. When a larger boat came near our boat, she begged to be saved, totally ignoring me. She was saved, but, I had to remain in the boat all by myself, desperately keeping the boat float. This was how she left me. However, compared to her, your determination to follow me seems weak and shallow. Can you make an even stronger commitment than her? Even with such a great commitment, she left me at this critical moment. I have witnessed similar events with my own eyes over and over again. I heard such grandiose promises to never leave me with my own ears, countless times. Yet, so many wonderful men and women walked away from me.

Imagine a wife waiting for her husband to come home, after several years have passed since he left to go to his mission. Can you imagine how desperate is her longing for her husband? When it rains, her heart will long for her husband who may be in the rain. You should experience such a heart of longing for God at least two or three times in every 3 days. In other words, you must experience such a yearning every day. When you are walking a city street, you are overwhelmed and overcome by your emotion, longing for God. Then you have to stop walking, but are unable to stand by your own power so you embrace a telephone pole and cry out to God. Have you ever experienced such a longing and loving heart? Even if there are many lovers in this world, none has ever experienced such a compelling and over-powering feeling towards their lover. Have you ever experienced such an intense hunger for God? Have you longed for Jesus, the Lord? You must have this kind of faith -- not faith that can be exchanged for a piece of bread.

I wept and cried continuously for over one week. My eyes were so soaked with tears, that I felt that my eyes had turned into the inside of a ripened pumpkin. I could no longer look at the sun for it was too bright. So, I spent hours without being able to open my eyes. Through such an extreme experience, I pioneered the way to discover the Divine Principle. You cannot even imagine what I went through. Yearning to recover the true life value that is hidden deep inside of human beings, I pioneered this path. This, after I had wandered the vast spirit world, trod a bloody path of suffering and passed through indescribable tribulations.

If you are able to connect to the spirit world, you will realize that the value of Father is immeasurable. God will order you to give your utmost sincere devotion to me tens of thousands of times over. Do you know all spiritual mediums throughout the world are now my disciples? Why is this possible? I realize that in order to walk this path I found, through shedding countless tears, you must go forward even risking your own life. You should be ready to risk your life over and over again, thousands and tens of thousands of times. I will never retreat from walking this path.

When you face painful and agonizing situations and feel like you have reached the end of your rope, you must focus on the central point -- God has never experienced real joy in His Heart. His Heart is only embracing sorrow and agony. Therefore, your question is how to comfort God's grieving heart. It is our important responsibility as members of Unification Church.

When you gain a victory, you must thank God with tears of gratitude. The victory you gain today is not a victory won by your efforts alone. From the first victory, to the one-hundredth, to the ten-millionth victory, every victory is won because God's decisive motive is behind it. Thus, those who understand this principle must always keep grateful hearts to Him, even when going through courses filled with tears. Jesus offered his gratitude to God, when he went the course of the cross. Unless the heart of gratitude had remained, even after death by crucifixion, there would not have been his resurrection.

Therefore, we must fight on and continue fighting on. After a victory, with gratitude to God, you must move on-ward to the world on the road of battle. This is where you stand in the process of restoration. Don't forget that.

Satan Remains in Human Beings

Rev. Moon has experienced many sorrowful situations, extreme agonies, and indescribable sufferings. However, I am in a position where I cannot pray asking for consolation and relief from God. Why is this? Adam received everything from God; yet he forsook everything and betrayed God. Therefore, I must stand in a position to indemnify that; and I must receive the blessing from God again.

This is Heavenly Law. When you push into a boundary of indemnity, you reach a point where you would rather die. You cannot do anything, not even pray. In such a position, you are totally vulnerable to Satan's attack; however, God cannot do anything about you.

Because Satan remains in human beings, we stand in a position to be separated from Satan. When you are going through the period of separating from Satan, in that stage you cannot reach to God by just following your heart. Of course, after you are successfully separated, you stand in a position where only God can relate to you through your heart. From this point, judgment begins. Then, how can you reach to the point of total separation from Satan? You must be guided by your wisdom. In the period when you are being divided, God cannot teach or guide you. So, you must apply a strategy to deal with Satan that you learned by analyzing your own experiences -- must use all possible methods from all aspects of life and divide your environment to chase out Satan.

I am continually engaged in this fight, even now. When you are engaged in fighting, you have no one to consult with. True mother, who has to overcome this battle alone, always follows True Father. If you obey absolutely, you will overcome the fight. Why is this? Since the fall of man began because Eve dominated Adam, in order to restore this mistake, Eve must be dominated by Adam completely. However, Adam must stand at the frontline to face and fight Satan. Satan keeps over 3 billion people in the pit of suffering. However, who made the Archangel into Satan, or who made such determination? That is Adam; not Eve. From this understanding, Adam stands in the position to face the final showdown, no matter how far he must go. Therefore, it is my sense of mission that I must chase Satan to the ends of the world.

The Path of Indemnity that We Must Go (IV)

Requirements in the Course of Indemnity

While my head was being shaved when I entered the prison, I prayed to God. I prayed that my head is not shaven because of my desire, but rather it is being shaven forcibly by my enemy against my will. You would never know how bright my eyes were with my determination. Watching my hair fall as my head was shaved, it was a miserable moment to abandon my desire for happiness.

An even sadder thing was that it was forced upon me by the hands of my enemy. As you pursue the course of restoration, you face adverse circumstances that are filled with bitter pain and sorrow. When you are experiencing such situations, you will be confronted with resentful feelings. However, as I passed through them, I realized that God remembered every second of my suffering so that I could overcome these challenges and hardships. As I was tortured repeatedly day after day and I fell down to the floor being beaten and whipped by my enemy, it was still the same. When I was whipped, I was beaten not for my own sake but for the sake of my people. And I shed tears not for my own misery but for my people's pain as the representative of my people. My tears were the tears for indemnity.

I embraced God while trembling as I went this course. I had to go this course of indemnity until I could receive God's compassion. I went this path by myself. I had to overcome this path all alone. I know Jesus went the same path with the same attitude. While he walked the path of restoration through indemnity as the representative, the tears he shed were not the tears resulting from his concern for his own death. Jesus shed tears out of his concern for his people's demise. As people who were to follow him betrayed him, Jesus shed tears concerning them as they were destined to face the final judgment from Heaven as the result.

When I visited Jerusalem, I saw the signs that indicated the places where Jesus fell down as he walked to the top of Golgotha. Looking at the twelve places where Jesus fell down, I told to myself, "He had to go such a path of indemnity." Therefore, I prayed while following his path to the cross, "How miserable and painful the situations that Jesus faced as he visited the places like the desert and the wilderness, in darkness while carrying the new Heavenly Mission two thousand years ago? Ignoring all wealthy peoples of the world, Jesus visited the scrawny Israel nation and people instead. In this place, I know there was the desperation of God's situation, trying to resolve the resentment of the Israel people quickly."

Everyone who visits this place must offer a prayer of consolation for Jesus knowing his situation walking to the cross. Then, Satan is worried and God will be consoled. Because of such prayers, Satan cries with sorrow while God cries tears of joy.

When God wept in sorrow because Adam fell, both Satan and Adam shed tears, too. Satan shed tears because he was chased out after he had betrayed God. And Adam shed tears because of the fall. This is the reason why Jesus shed tears, Satan shed tears and Adam too shed tears. Because of this, at the hill of the course of restoration, restoration cannot be achieved without both God and Satan shedding tears. You, yourselves, too must shed tears. Unless you shed tears that move God to tears and make Satan cry, restoration is not possible. You must clearly know that this is a required condition in the course of restoration.

You must know how lonely the path is that I have gone through carrying the Heavenly Mission, dealing with the major problems in the world. I am not saying this to get your sympathy. I am a very lonely man. You may not realize this because there are so many people who have been following me. However, in my heart of hearts, I am a lonely person. I am a very lonesome man, who can receive no sympathy from anyone.

As no one gave sympathy to Adam and Eve, so, too, I do not get any sympathy from anyone. I am not pitied by Satan nor do I not seek sympathy from God. If I seek any sympathy, it is to find comfort in my own wisdom and in knowing that I am struggling on in the place where I give my tears, blood and sweat, while offering my utmost sincerity to God. You must know my course going through this path filled with bitter sorrow. You must know this as the path you must follow today and tomorrow. Moreover, you must clearly engrave in your hearts that you go this path for the course of world restoration, a purpose beyond your own race and people.

Jerusalem's Via Dolorosa

Father is referring to his 1965 visit to Jerusalem. As part of his tour he walked the The Via Dolorosa (Latin for Way of Grief or Way of Suffering) which is the traditional path of Jesus from his trial to his crucifixion. It leads through streets in the Old City of Jerusalem and has twelve stations where pilgrims stop and pray. On the Via Dolorosa Jesus fell three times, not 12.] The 12 stations are:

The Path of Indemnity that We Must Go (II)

Sincerity and Indemnity

You must know that you should not allow Satan to invade in important tasks that you must accomplish for the future. Nor, should you allow the chosen people to be expelled from their respective positions. In order to keep away from these possibilities, you must indemnify all the evil elements before hand, while putting yourself in the position of being willing to receive indemnity in order to rid yourself of all elements regarding evil and sins.

This is why you must always give your utmost sincerity. When you want to offer your sincerity, you cannot do it while you casually conduct your life eating and sleeping. It is absolutely impossible to offer your sincerity when you are in the position of having all you want to eat, sleep as much as you want and wear clothing that you enjoy wearing. For this reason, preparing to face an important event, you must put yourself in the position to conduct a showdown with God. You must be prepared to be hit beforehand. If God does not punish you, you should even initiate to punish yourself, on your own. If you get punished, what would happen? You will place yourself as the object to God. This is the principle of restoration by which God advanced throughout history.

Seeing from this standpoint, I consider this time now as a special providential period. So, as much as I can I would like to visit all holy grounds within a certain period. I don't think of anything else. Even when I have visited our factory several times, in my mind I am always thinking, for the path that we all must go, what I must accomplish at such a time as this. On top of this, all members overseas are depending on and expecting our country to achieve great things. However, our Korean members are not even aware of this. Our oversea members have an extremely high opinion of Korean members here at the Headquarters; so much so that you cannot even imagine. They think you are of the highest possible human existence that they can imagine.

Let me give you some examples. They think I can go up and down stairways as if I am on some kind of cloud. Also, when I eat food I don't use my chop sticks with my hand but food would miraculously convey to my mouth. Or, they believe that I don't need to go to bathroom. As soon as they come to know God's will, they start thinking of Korea and me as the highest possible existence. Because of such a view of me, whenever I see oversea members, I feel naturally embarrassed. Why am I telling this story? I feel embarrassed and, somewhat, become self-conscious in my heart. Where else can you find such a story under the sun? So, you must offer your sincerity much greater than those overseas members. When they offer donations or any other offerings, they bow tens of hundreds of times and pray deeply.

We, Korean members must know this fact. When you receive donation or offerings that were given with such sincerity, if you treat it casually without appreciating their value, you will be judged by the offerings. You must understand this point clearly.

Even a good king who does not act properly – namely, if he treats carelessly those who serve him with deep sincerity – will face a destiny of ruin. By the same token, if the staff people who follow the king mistreat the subjects who offer their sincerity, they will be cast out as rebellious traitors of Heaven. For this reason, I never treat those, who give their sincerity. carelessly. So, I will visit holy grounds as much as I can find the free time for, in this period (so as to reply to the sincerity offered to me).

Then, what will I do next? I will reflect on my deeds thinking of what God has done for me in my past life. So, by reflecting on my past, I will share all the grace that I receive from God, since He called me and assisted me, when I was dealing with certain tasks. All members who gathered here have various and unique processes of spiritual growth. By the same way, as you move toward the gate of Heaven, every one of you will go different paths.

Since all of you go different paths, I walk the path of restoration through indemnity in order that all of you can be connect in heart. Restoration through Indemnity

You learned the word, "Restoration through Indemnity." Restoration through indemnity means that you will indemnify large issues by making a small condition. For example, there are one hundred people who need to be forgiven. If there is one person who only loves and longs for God, while embracing the ideal of Heaven in his heart without a word of complaining, despite being beaten by Satan as a representative of the one hundred, the sins of the one hundred people would be indemnified in exchange for his suffering and beatings.

A human being who stands to go through the indemnity course must be resolved to love and long for God and the Heavenly Kingdom in his heart, resolute only for Heaven -- born for Heaven, living for Heaven and dying for Heaven. He must know that he was initiated from Heaven, to go through the process of Heaven, and return to his final destination, Heaven. With this conviction, as he goes over the beatings, the sins of the one hundred people will be forgiven. In other words, it is restoration through indemnity that as one person is chosen to stand in the position to represent the one hundred people and is beaten in place of them, those one hundred people will be spared from being beaten, and moreover they are elevated from the evil position to the position of goodness. Do you understand what I am talking about?

Then, how can you find this history that is the history of restoration through indemnity? You will know that it is true if you see the providence of God. Human history is the history of restoration through indemnity. Therefore, I can proceed with God's work only by using and centering on four or five true persons here. Do you disagree with my word?

I have been living according to this principle. If I go to Japan, all local churches will ask –calling me throughout the night by phone -- telling me, "We will repay thousands and tens of thousands times for your grace to us; please, just drop a letter of greeting to us." I don't even ask for them to do this, but they can't help it. No one at Headquarters even knows about this.

So, what kind of time period are we going through now? We are going through the period of the restoration through indemnity. Also, this period corresponds to the time of outreach or witnessing. What is the purpose of this witnessing period? It is to connect the worldwide providence of setting up 120 holy grounds centering on the forty providential nations that I selected. Through witnessing, you will create relationships with these nations. Rev. Moon has been contemplating and conducting various things over the last three years for the purpose of this restoration through indemnity.

In human history, you find good events and evil events took place alternately. There were good societies and nations, but they did not last forever. After a certain period passed, an evil period became predominant. This is the same principle that applies for the time of indemnity.

It is human nature that people offer their sincerity before important events or when they are facing major problems. Also, when you set up your purpose, you invest your sincere effort in order to achieve it. You may set up a one-hundred-day prayer or other prayer period and then offer your sincerity. Especially, believers of religions ardently offer their sincerity. Then, why do people give their utmost sincerity? It is for the sake of indemnity.
