It is my great honor to greet the New Year and God's Day here in America. Now I am praying for all the Unified Families throughout the world including in Korea. Last year we fought and made much progress in propagating God's Providence under the slogan "Let's insure the Unified Front!" For this year's motto, I chose "Let us protect the Unified Front!"
Look at the current situation of the world. No one can deny that the democratic countries entrusted with the external mission of the Providence are in a crisis threatening to destroy them. They are being enveloped by the menace of Communism. All the religions of the democratic countries, particularly Christianity, have been in charge of the external mission of the Providence.
Then what is meant by the external mission of the Providence? It is activities for victory over Communism, the enemy of all the religions and God. Unfortunately no established churches have taken on this mission.
The mission has been forced on the group entrusted with internal mission of the Providence. That group is our Unification Church.
Our Unification Church has appeared for the protection of religions and to fulfill the missions of the democratic nations and religion. We have a systematic theory far ahead of Communist theory. We are prepared to fight against the Communist menace.
From the Providential viewpoint, the Unification Church is the final and unique defender of God. We must, at all costs, protect every individual, religion and democratic country from Communism. If you know God's Providence, it is easy to understand the reason why I chose "Let us protect the Unified Front!" as our motto for this year.
Meanwhile our Unification Church is also entrusted with a Providential, world-wide and historic internal mission. We must fulfill our entire mission, both internal and external, to accomplish our responsibility.
Then which mission do you think is more important, the internal or external one? Of course internal one is more important. The internal mission is for God whereas the external mission is for man.
God's providence was to make a foundation to triumph over Satan through an individual connected with God; a family connected with the individual; a society connected with the family; a nation connected to the society.
However, due to the rebellion of the Israelites, the chosen people, God's providence was postponed. So we must restore the foundation of the chosen people to triumph over Satan. To do that our Unification Church has stepped forward to work with the messiah at the Second Coming. To accomplish our work each one of you must have more faith than Peter, James or John. You must overcome all the temptations of Satan on the family, tribe, race and national level to protect the messiah at the Second Coming.

From God's viewpoint, it is better for you became a member of the Unification Church to protect the messiah at the Second Coming rather than to be individually saved. So far have I been paving the way for your family, your tribe, your race and your nation. From now you have to take charge of protecting me and forming the base of our world-wide activities. After my foundation is set, forming the foundation for all the blessed families will follow. Then we will expand to set the foundation for our nation. Then the formation of world-wide foundation will only be the question of time.
I have been persecuted by the race and the nation. Now is the time for us to prepare for persecution by the world. By being persecuted by the world we can protect the nation. Our Unification Church has been persecuted by families, societies, tribes, the established churches and the nation. This means that we, the Unification Church, have to form the external base of protection.
Now in Korea we are entering the phase for our church and the established churches to restore our Abel and Cain relationship. To try to overcome their resentment, I made the Union of Churches, consisting of churches in China, Japan and Korea. It was not for the destruction of the established churches but for their salvation. And in expectation of rebellion, I am going to form the world-level Union of Churches.
As I told you before, now is the time to accomplish national restoration. Unless we complete national restoration, we cannot restore the world. This is the reason why I have been making in Korea, the base for the world restoration.
From the providential viewpoint you are not Americans, but members a new formed tribe. Until the national restoration in Korea is accomplished, you must support it. To accomplish world restoration, every member of the entire Unification Church should be united closely with one another. In other words, Cain's individual, family, tribe, nation should support Abel's family, tribe and nation. The main reason for Jesus' failure was that the Israelites relied on Jesus without making their own effort.
This is also the case for the blessed families. It is not permitted for a blessed family to stop activities because they are Blessed. They are Blessed for the defense of Abel's family centering around our Leader.

Excerpt from Japanese language God's Will and the World - Why We Have to Go Through Hardships
A true parent-child relationship, a true husband-wife relationship, and a true brotherly relationship cannot be established unless we relate with sacrificial love. The genuineness of those relationships depends upon that standard.
Children know that their parents truly love them when they truly sacrifice themselves for them. Although the sacrificial position is a sorrowful one, if the children perfectly appreciate it and return love to the parents, then the parents can feel more joy.
Likewise if a true couple sacrifices for each other, then love can constantly be restored in addition to the power of sacrifice. Therefore, husband and wife can become one eternally if they share their suffering with each other. True friends are those who sacrifice themselves for each other. The position of love can be established when one sacrifices oneself and gives himself for others. Thus sacrifice accompanies love.
God could not truly love man up until now because man fell and did not achieve his perfection. Thus God's love could not be returned by a perfect object.
If someone truly desires love, he should stand in the same position as God and give everything until the perfection of his object of love, as God does. Parents give everything until their children grow up and get married. They have to sacrifice everything and give everything until their children understand the sphere of parental heart. If the children appreciate it and give filial piety to their parents, then the parents feel joy, forgetting all of their sacrifice. This is the way of love.
From the Principle and God's point of view, it is absolutely impossible for us to reach the perfection level unless we go through sacrifice. It is the way of restoration to work and recreate the ideal self so that one can reach God's standard.
God created the archangel and Adam in order to achieve His ideal of love. In the course of restoration, therefore, we must go through the principle of recreation. We human beings must restore the sphere of the archangel first.
The way of faith requires the restoration of the invisible substantial sphere, or the realm of the archangel. This is the sphere of process, during which we need to have a life of faith. In the process of our life of faith, we must restore the path of the archangel through history.
Viewed from the principle of restoration, we go up from the age of servant of servants to the age of servant. After that, we must go up to the level of adopted son and into the realm of true son, which is the original standard of perfection. This is the standard upon which the bridegroom and bride, perfected Adam and Eve, can establish ideal horizontal love.
We must go through the process of the archangel and the process of Adam's growth, receiving God's vertical love until we reach perfection. Then we can make a departure to the horizontal level. Accordingly, God's goal in history up until now has been to complete one person, Adam, who can stand in the position of God's object. Thus, Adam becomes the central figure on the horizontal level. If God and Adam become one and Adam and Eve become one, then God and Adam and Eve become one. At that point the vertical and the horizontal are perfectly united by love. Wherever they go, they are filled with joy. We call this environment the Heavenly Kingdom.
Since God's ideal of the Heavenly Kingdom was destroyed because of the fall, we must recreate it.
Here the problem is the existence of Satan, but if the archangelic sphere is perfected, Satan must disappear. The perfection of the archangel is not done by the archangel but by the perfection of Adam. If Adam is perfected, the ideal of the archangel is also perfected, and Satan has no place to exist in this cosmos.
Since the archangelic sphere is imperfect, Satan can still exist, but once perfection is accomplished, he cannot remain. Therefore, the perfection of Adam is the ultimate and most important task. That is why God has been working up until now to achieve the perfection of Adam. The perfected Adam is the Messiah.
To go back to God, fallen man must first become the servant of the servant, who is the archangel. The best master is the master who works for the sake of the servant. And the servant must find this master. The fall destroyed God's ideal by centering love upon oneself. God's ideal is love. Therefore, where one's love is self-centered, the way of restoration can never be born.

Was the world created according to a unified motive? This is a great problem. If the cause is not derived from a unified source, then the earth would not be unified. If this world were created from a unified source, then all individuals, families, tribes, and nations would have been unified. We find that this world is not unified, that nations are not unified, and tribes and families are not unified. And even this world is divided into two worlds. In nations there are different polarities, in homes there are divisions among members, and in the individual, mind and body are divided. This is the real state of the world; we cannot deny its division. The question is: why is the world divided?
What are the causes which made the whole world, nations, families, and individuals divided? So for us, it is most important to investigate the causes of division on the individual, family, national, and world levels. God is absolute. If all individuals and the whole world were made one with this eternal cause, then how could, such a divided world exist? We have to deduce that this absolute God was not involved in forming this divided world. If God is not the cause, then what could have been?
The cause of this evil world is not good. It must be evil. This is the important question: how did the evil one intervene to form such an evil world? So if the world is to be unified, someone must destroy all the problems which were caused by this evil. That is the mission of religion. Whoever is looking for the ideal world must investigate the evil cause and destroy the evil. To find the root of the evil cause is most important. If we can't find it, we can't destroy this evil cause to restore the whole world. By finding the evil cause in ourselves we can solve all the problems. The important thing is to find one individual who has become one with God -- having a body and mind which do not struggle with each other -- and who is centered on God. Is there anyone who has made his mind and body one? [By seeing your laughter, he thinks there is no one who has reached such a state.] Therefore, the most important thing is not all the complicated problems of the world but to find the self that is not divided and does not struggle. So if God exists, He must show us the way to restore our original state. He must give a strong lesson to teach us to become the ideal individual. And God also must seek and find an individual who cannot be destroyed by anyone or anything in this world, who can't be beat by anything, and can be eternally unified with God. God must seek such a man.
Therefore through the course of history, God designed His providence to take out one such man from among evil people. Man is living in his home with his family. Also he is living in the material world and in his nation. For God to restore His nation, His family, His individuals, and His material world, He cannot literally take these things back. He cannot just take these things from evil without any condition. The evil possessor would try to retain all these things. Therefore, the ways of good and evil must not be equal; they must be different. So if one goes this way, the other one must go that way. If the one goes to the right, the other one goes to the left. All people want to have a unified world, but this cannot be obtained simply. Evil wants to go ahead and good wants to go backward. You are in the central position in the struggle between good and evil. Which is more serious: the fall of a nation or the fall of an individual? For man, the most important thing would be the perishment of himself. We have a tendency not to sacrifice ourselves for others. And everyone has a mind to make all things center on himself. Everybody thinks this, but we have to admit that it cannot be realized. So to reach the world which our mind wants and desires, we have to surpass the obstacles which stand in our way.
If we make one world by fighting other nations, would we have a peaceful or happy world? We cannot have such a world by conquering others. Because God knows this, He goes the opposite way. In that case, who will be the first one to lead the way? If we go that way, the leader will be God. (Points in one direction.) And if we go this way (points the opposite way) the leader will be Satan. If God tried to go ahead in that case, He would destroy all the people who are one with Satan. But that won't do, so He has to go backward.
In this world, there are two kinds of people. Evil wants to make one world by beating others. But God does not. God chooses the different way. Evil does not come from God-centered motives, or from other-centered motives, it comes from self interest. That is the starting point of evil. Therefore by letting man fall, evil made man deny God, and let Adam and Eve determine destruction. Such results have been brought by the fall caused by Satan. The fall started when he planned everything for his own self -- that initiated evil desire. So through the history of fallen man, he has tried to sacrifice others for its own interest. The history of evil has been a struggle in which the stronger has always sacrificed the, weaker. This struggle has taken place among individuals, and has elevated to the family, tribal, and national levels. Now it has reached the international level. Now history is at the stage when the two, worlds, which tried to overcome by sacrificing the other are tired. The Democratic world wants to make our world but has almost given up. The Communist world wants to dominate the whole world, but it has also come to this position. Therefore, this world cannot now be unified by either the Democratic world or the Communist world. How this world will be unified is a very serious question.
And all people want to have a peaceful, happy world, but we are in despair; we cannot find the way to one ideal world. Before the people is a big obstacle -- where, will the world go? There are two ways to surpassing an obstacle: by jumping or going around it. How will we jump the obstacle? We cannot jump the obstacle if we put our nation's interest in the first place. We can achieve the ideal world with the thought that for the interest of the, whole world, we are willing to sacrifice our own nation. With such thoughts we can continue, and go over the obstacle. The reason for the fight between Soviet Russia and China is that Russia wanted to make the Communist world center around its nation, while Red China wanted to make it center on China's people. The US was a leading country in the Democratic world, but: she could not fulfill her role when she thought of her own interests more than those of other nations. If Soviet Russia had tried to support the world, then Russia and the rest of the Communist world would be united. And if the US sacrificed herself to share the prosperity of the Democratic world, then she would not have declined. So through history, we see that unless there are those who want to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the whole world, the ideal world cannot be reached. Can we find such a nation in the, world? The US and Russia are ready to throw away the whole world to save themselves. There must be one nation who can sacrifice her country and her people for the establishment of the ideal world -- when we find such a nation, we can have hope for one ideal world. That nation does not exist for her own benefit, but for the interests of the whole world.
So God went a different course. He has been teaching religious people. First He must find one individual on His side -- completely one with Him -- who cannot be broken away from Him. And this man must go to the position where he can make one unified world. Therefore the most important intention of God is to find someone to become one with Him. And his teachings must be to sacrifice himself for the whole world. The two teachings are to love God, and to sacrifice oneself for the world. To love God, man had to go further around go back because man is in the position which is derived from the evil cause. Therefore, as he is, he cannot go to God; therefore, he must turn around and go back. To love God, man must leave the world, his family, material things, and even himself. Then when he really loves God, God must love him. Then man, as the one who receives God's love, must sacrifice himself for the world. That is most important; that is the core of God's providence.
To receive God's love, we have to turn around to save this world; we have to sacrifice ourselves. Therefore we must obey the commandment to love the Lord God with all our heart, all our mind, and all our spirit. With all our love, we must love God. This is the first commandment. We cannot love God in our world, in our nations, in our family, or in ourselves. All these things are brought about by the motive of evil, so God cannot exist in them. Then the Bible teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Does that mean that you love your neighbor more than yourself or less than yourself? And who is your neighbor? It does not mean your brothers and sisters, but it means all other people in all other nations. To love your neighbor, you cannot put yourself before him. Therefore, to go the way of love, you have to sacrifice yourself. Without sacrifice we cannot perform God's love. To love our neighbor as we receive God's love, we have to sacrifice ourselves. Without this, we cannot love him as God loves us.
And when we think about the words of God to love Him with all our hearts, all our minds, all our spirits and everything we have, we might think God is like a dictator. But all these commandments are not for Himself. When we love Him with all our hearts and all we have, He will love us just as we love Him. That was God's intention and His first commandment to us. Therefore the word "love" is not relative. When we love Him, He loves back. The command which asks for us to love Him with all our beings means to love Him with our life by sacrificing our life. For God to love others, He must sacrifice the one whom He loves the most. Because of such teachings, we call God, Love. Because God sacrificed those whom He loved most for the world, God is the greatest love. And the ideal nation which loves others is entirely different from those of Satan. Satan always gets others to protect his own. He always makes others sacrifice to protect his own position, but God makes His own ones sacrifice for others.
There must be one individual who is the model, the pattern of one who is perfectly one with God. We say there are many sacred men, but there cannot be more than one who is completely one with God. And that man is the Messiah. And when the Messiah comes, he does not come for his own sake and he does not come to save a particular nation; he comes to save the whole world. To send the Messiah, God made all the preparations by sacrificing men, family, tribes, and nations. And that was the Israeli people. If Jesus had pioneered the way to sacrifice nation and church to save the whole world, then he would not have been crucified on the cross. The reason why Jesus was crucified was that the nation and the church did not receive him and did not become one with him. He had no foundation to sacrifice the nation and church for the whole world. That led to his death.
But the people thought differently. They thought that when the Messiah came, they would be the ruling nation of all other nations, having the privilege of leading all other nations. They did not think of sacrificing themselves. Therefore Jesus prayed for a way to sacrifice the nation and people for the whole world. Then Jesus would not have been killed and he would have established God's nation on this earth. Then Israel would have been the first nation to sacrifice itself for the whole world. By killing Jesus, Israel perished, and Jesus had to find a new way to sacrifice instead. He had to sacrifice his followers for the sake of the world. Therefore Christianity prospered when it had the spirit of sacrifice. When it lost this spirit, it declined. The present churches are trying to establish one world centering on their own nation, their own religion, and their own Christianity, but that way is not open. But a new spiritual movement willing to sacrifice itself for the whole world would grow and prosper.
Can we find such a nation on this earth? There is no such nation sacrificing itself. Therefore religion must sacrifice itself for a nation, and that nation must sacrifice itself for the sake of the world. And the world must sacrifice itself for the sake of God. That way God's idea of one world can be reached. If this religion is in America, then it must sacrifice all that it has to save America. That religion should not fight to multiply its churches but should work to save the nation, sacrificing its own churches. If it works with such spirit, then that nation will come to that religion and eventually unite with it. And when this religion unites with its nation, they must go forward to save the whole world, sacrificing themselves. Therefore, without sacrifice, God's will cannot be realized.
We have to sacrifice our bodies for the sake of our spirits. And when our body and spirit become one, then we must sacrifice for our family. And this is not just for one day, but for our whole life. No one likes to sacrifice himself; however, in sacrifice our value is not lost. The result of sacrifice is not destruction. Absolutely not. Even if we lose our life by sacrificing, then our sacrifice at least will live on in history, and someone will admire us.
All the sacred men were not welcomed by those in their time. In their lifetimes, they were considered failures. But they never failed, because of their sacrifice. Afterwards they were praised as famous historical figures. As a young man, Jesus had nothing. His people rejected him. His church, his family, and even his disciples left him as the savior of the nation. He had nothing to give. He had nothing, and he left nothing. However, he died not for himself, but for the whole world -- for other people. That's the reason why his teachings have multiplied to present day Christianity. Confucius and Buddha went the same course. When a man sacrifices himself for others, all people will come before him later on and bow to him. And when the people come and bow before him, they select him as their central figure. If a son dedicated himself and sacrificed himself for his family, the family, including his father, will ask him to be the center of the family. Let's say a man served his friends with his life. Then they would come to him and wouldn't want to leave him. If this man wanted to leave, then his friends would come and grasp him and ask him not to leave. Finally they would ask him to become their leader. There cannot be a good friend without sacrifice, without serving. And the good friend, father, mother, or son cannot be obtained without sacrifice. A bad friend wants to take everything away from his friends. That's why we call him a bad friend. But if he serves his friend, the friend will come. And not only him, but he will bring all his friends. And if he does the same thing through his life, such news would spread all over the country and all people will come to him. The way to destruction is to overcome others, and the way to prosperity is to serve others. That is the dividing point between God and Satan.
Egocentric works will fail and public spirited ones will live. If we go the way of public men, we can gain the individual, family, tribe, nation, and the whole world without fighting. If we think only of ourselves, to gain our family and nation, we have to fight; and even after we gain them, they will not last long. Therefore we cannot but conclude that the teaching of sacrifice is God's. The Communists say: "Mine is mine and yours is mine." We must think: "Mine is yours, yours is the nation's, the nation's is God's, and God's is mine." Love makes two things one. If I love God, God's love is my love. For example, if people love and respect the President, they will also love his wife, although she may be uneducated.
If the United States would serve the world, the world would not allow her to be destroyed. Christianity is not following this course, so a new movement must come. The Unification Church has these views-the individual sacrifices for the nation, and the nation for the world. We must have programs, not to save ourselves, but the 200 million people of America. When America is saved, she must serve the world. To save America, we will be sacrificed. If you die with this thought, you will not go to hell. God is saving His children by sacrificing His most beloved ones. We are called to restore God's nation -- we cannot have national consciousness. Democracy and Communism are declining because they could not transcend national desires. Our international weddings are to break these barriers. Through the struggle of Adam's three sons, the world became evil, so through the last days, three nations must struggle and unite. The nation sacrificing the most will be the leading one.

Answer to a question about love:
I've noticed many divorces in the U.S. Maybe 80%. How can this be love? Love is eternal. Love is eternal and unique; love cannot be changed. Don't you want the eternal, unchangeable one? Eternal love. Unique love. Unchanging love. Those adjectives are fit for the word love. So the word for which we can use "eternal", "unique", or "unchanging" is love. Love is the equilibrium of life. And people admire love the most because their love is life. Would a husband like to see his wife with other men? No one will say "yes." I see that some couples are switching wives. That cannot be love. The ideal world is the world of love. Just as we breathe air, in spirit world we breathe love. So we have to be trained on this earth to live such an eternal life. We must be prepared. Then when we go to spirit world, we can have a free life. Just as we cannot live without air, spirit world cannot live without love.
Answer to a question about the existence of God:
Now I am going to explain that God exists. If we did not exist, we would not have to think whether God exists or not. Think of Adam and Eve. They had ears, eyes, nose, mouth. Think about your eyes. They did not come into existence automatically. What if they were without pupils? How could they adjust their focus? Did your eyelids know that there would be dust in the air? What are eyebrows for? They stop the rain and protect the eyes. What if we had no cheekbones? Our face would be hollow. If your nose were horizontal, how could you wash your face? This is just the mystery of our body. There must be one who knew about all these things. Who is that? The one who knew all these things, that is God.

If God is love, and that God likes you 100 percent as the object of his love, you will rise. If it is the other way with you, you are doomed to fall. We know a diamond is unchanging; still, we don't like to have a small diamond ring but want ours to be a large one. Do you want a 1-carat one or larger one? For God it is the same. God too wants to have many grades of diamonds, each one being unchangeable and unique.
If you are above the standard of what God defines love to be, you will rise. Otherwise, you will fall. If God has so many grades of diamonds like that, representing each one of you, he is glad. But if he loses one, if he may lose even one of you, he will be sad. If he loses two, three, five, ten, he is a sad God. In other words, to rise means to multiply. To fall means to be diminished…"
You want to love a person, you love that person and in doing that you love his ancestors and you want to love his future generations too. In other words, you love three generations centering on that person, like a grandfather, father and son put together. God is longing for the love of parents, love of grandfather; all put together, two types of love together. God likes to find that kind of love...
If you love that person that way, you can love people of the whole world – the whole mankind in the present world and the whole mankind in the future world; you want to take the responsibility.
The present generation is the fruit of the past generation, and then in that way you love three generations – those belonging to the past, those belonging to the present, and those of the future. If there is a God, would he not love those in the past? Would he not love the people living in the present time? Would he not love the people of the coming generations? That's the scope of God's love, the breadth of God's love, to love three generations, the past, present and future…"
So the moment of rise or fall begins from the love between you and me, between two. If those two unite with each other like this and become one, love should be uniting in such a way that nothing ever can separate those two. True love unifies those two and when they are unified in true love, nothing can separate them. When love is broad, it can be defined in our expression that we must shed tears for man, sweat for earth and blood for heaven…

Loving spouses are same too. Love, changing love is not a love, unchanging love is love. The most valuable love for human is also unchanging love. Have you ever read in a novel or in a poem, oh, love, ever vacillating? When you compose a poem in praise of love, without exception you say, oh, love, unchanging. Oh, love that is unique. And only love has the most amazing adjectives to describe love.
When you hear those two words, eternal life and eternal love, which is more attractive? You may say unique life, eternal life, unchanging life. That does not sound quite right. But eternal love, unchanging love, unique love, that's something that is resounding in your heart.
Out of those capricious human beings, always wavering, what would there be that is most precious? Human life? Human love? Now we must decide which is more precious. What we have decided must be correct according to the standard of the past generations, the present generation and future generations, like the original standard measure. Love should be like that.
If we define love like that, suppose we ask people who have passed away what love is. When they are asked what love is, what would their answer be? Love is something eternal, unchangeable and unique. Thousands of years afterward, when you ask the same question of your teachers, the answer will be just the same. In order for us to decide what we are enjoying is like, we must find out the only true one and absolute standard of what love is, in order for us to compare ours to that.
The standard must be the same all through, from the past to the present time and the future generations. When we think we have found one like that, can we recognize that it is the one? When we find the standard one, everybody, old and young, people of the East and West must say yes to the question. That's a unified answer.
The absolute being's definition of love
If there be an absolute being dominating human society, what would his definition of love be? The same one. If there be God at all, we must define not that he has love but that he is love. Then we must be the objects of his love and he will cry to us, "You should be my love." He will say, I want you to be my love, and we ourselves must become unique, unchangeable and eternal in order to be the absolute object of his love.
We have to go back to our subject, The Point of Rise or Fall.
If God is love, and that God likes you 100 percent as the object of his love, you will rise. If it is the other way with you, you are doomed to fall. We know a diamond is unchanging; still, we don't like to have a small diamond ring but want ours to be a large one. Do you want a 1-carat one or larger one? For God it is the same. God also wants to have a lot of unchanging love from human.
If you are above the standard of what God defines love to be, you will rise. Otherwise, you will fall. If God has so many grades of diamonds like that, representing each one of you, he is glad. But if he loses one, if he may lose even one of you, he will be sad. If he loses two, three, five, ten, he is a sad God. In other words, to rise means to multiply. To fall means to be diminished.
At the point of how to define rise or fall, we must say if what we have is nearer to God and is a thing of God's approval, we are destined to rise. Otherwise we are doomed to fall, diminish. Even a puppy we are looking after in our home will be very sensitive and will immediately know whether or not his master likes him. When he is hated by his master, he knows it right away. Even a puppy would think of love all day long and would want his master to love him. He is meditating on the love of his master more than himself and he will wait and wait for the master to come, like this in meditation without doing anything else. But if he hears the voice of his master, he will leap up like this and dash toward the master.
If there is anyone who hates the puppy and who would beat him, he will run away like this, turn his back on him. Love is what makes two into one like this. They want to be close to each other. But hatred, what is not love, is something that will separate you. The master who hates the puppy, for instance, however anxiously he may call the puppy to come back, he would never come back.
It's same for human. However much you may want a person to go away from you, if you love that person, he is attached to you and would like to come near you and he would like to stay with you. We want to give things to the person we love. We want to pour out our own being to him; we think that what belongs to us is his.
God resembles us; we resemble him
From the person we hate we want to grab away even what he has. Aren't things the same with you? Then what would God think about the matter? God resembles us; we resemble him. To love God means to be one with him. When we want to give him all we have, it does not mean we are losing anything. But we are with him, we are one with him, so that's still there as ours.
The fundamental point of deciding rise or fall, the factor which makes those two different from each other, is love. Suppose there is a nation. All the people of the nation love each other on the horizontal level and the people love the president or king, who loves his people, and the juniors love their seniors, the seniors would love their juniors. Then there is great harmony in that nation and that nation is going to rise and never fall.
If there be any other nation planning to attack that nation, the people there will become one like a bullet of great power and attack back. They will never be defeated. For the people of that nation, the attacking nation will be an eternal foe. And the same can be applied to the individual. If you love a person and he is attacked, the opponent will be eternal foe of yours.
Do you think God would hate, think of the people as his enemy if they take away the home of the person God loves most? God cannot forgive such a person, such an enemy. If he ever loved or forgave that enemy, the definition of love would not apply. Love is the eternal source of ultimate happiness, so anything interfering with or invading love cannot be forgiven in God's sight.
Satan is the very enemy of God. If a couple really love each other with love centered on God, then people around them – their family, their friends, their neighbors would want to see them loving each other. They will be attached to yourself; that means they want to be near you and with you.
If the couple shouts at each other at the top of their voices, the family would hate to see them be that way. Their friends and neighbors would want to get away from them and they would lose them. All would be scattered, all would be lost. They would be left all alone. That is very true.
What makes rise or fall is love
Then we come back to see that what makes rise or fall is love. What kind of love do we have? Have there been any individual, any family, and more than that any nation whose people love each other like this, from above and below on the vertical level, and they become one like this? Can any other nation ever dream about taking this nation? How would God think of that nation? That nation can unify the whole world.
That's what we have defined love to be, and God's definition of love will be the same as ours. Then let's go in search of that kind of love, eternal love, unchanging and unique. However hard we may have struggled to find that kind of love in the fallen world – (inaudible 1-31:17) – our greatest invention and discovery to have found the world of other dimension with God in there. We have found an eternal, unchangeable and unique God as our father. This is a great discovery of ours and we are rich people.
This is a great revolution that we have found such a God as our father, and furthermore, when we find a great loving heart, and that he is love itself, it is a great, wonderful discovery. To make that God our own father is the greatest goal for human. We can conclude that there can be no happiness greater than to find God, our father, who is love itself.
What we need to do is not just listening the speech. Unification church members should boast about this. Did you live that way? Are you living that way now? Only learning the Divine Principle does not make us like that. Divine Principle should not be counted on when the providence of restoration has been accomplished. Then only love will left there – unchanging, eternal love.
Do you want to live in the world of Divine Principle or in the world of ultimate love? With that goal we are going to establish that kind of world, and we can decide that by living the Divine Principle we are able to do that. Are you sure you understand everything? Do you know and feel and experience with all your being that it is right?
Then would you have this love separate from you, go away from you or be with you? If it is true that you like that love to be with you then you must know from where the love starts. That love does not start from you, from ourselves. It is not you as an individual, the love does not start from you but starts from having the other person. It may be a Negro man, it may be a German, an Oriental man – (laughter). Do you want to have him? (?) is very difficult (laughter).
Do you want me to stop talking or go longer?
We are afraid to fall
What we are most afraid of is to fall, but what we hope to have, what we really desire to have is to rise. You nod your head like this. Everybody knows that well. But now I'm going to teach you the secret to love your opponent. To love you're the person as you would love God is the point. That's the absolute standard of making you rise forever.
You have fleshly limitations. So you cannot reach all the population of the whole world, but in your lifetime if you have loved 10 people to that standard, loved them as you would love God, you have loved the whole world. When you have anyone before you, you must think that you are going to love God through that person, by loving that person. The more people you have, the more love of God comes to you. If you receive more love of God in that way, the ideal of love centered on an individual, the ideal of love centered on the family, the ideal of love centered on your society, your nation will be yours, and your love will be God's ideal like that.
When you are not quite able to define what God's love is like, you don't feel that you are loving God by loving this person, you can think this way: am I loving the person as I would love my parents, my wife, my husband? That's the standard. Then living that way, you must be loving the people on the horizontal level, in the same way as your children, your parents or God.
The more people you love, the more broadened your horizon of life. In that case it means you have loved your family, your nation and the whole world. And that's the hope of humankind, and that's the hope we are taught to attain in religion. That's the thing God would have us do.
If we have really known that love is the only thing that can make us either rise or fall, then love is not performed by oneself alone. You are meeting the people around you, either rise or fall; you yourself are doing that. So that's why the Bible says you should not sin with your eyes. You must not allow your mouth to sin. You must not permit any of your five senses to sin.
What is sin
What is sin, then? To sin is to harm other people. Good is to benefit other people. Then good, in a word, is to benefit other people, that's why it goes with love.
We know there are parents who have their only child who they rely on so much, but they have to lose the child and are thrown into solitude __. There is a couple, for instance, who love each other dearly. Neither one of them can go without the other, but heaven may take one away, and one is left in utter loneliness.
Suppose there is a man, very good at business and he has struggled so hard all through his life, 20 or 40 years, and at last he is a successful man in the business field and he has made so much money, maybe a millionaire. But at one moment he can lose all his fortune – by fire or something like that. When we think about these things, we know too well that we are faced with things that we have not wanted very frequently.
What we do not want is always there around us and we cannot get rid of that destiny sometime. Sometimes unexpected things come up and bring us success, and sometimes, however hard we may have struggled, the outcome is a failure. And we find and we feel there is some power working behind human endeavor. Only after having solved that problem, what it is, what being is there, we can go on with security in our mind.
We know only too well that the problems of rise and fall cannot be handled by our own human hands. Can a nation handle their fall? They can't do it. (Audio gap 5:25)
… ups and downs, always changing things around us. But we cannot get hold of that or we cannot dominate.
There are revolutions and other means of changing the world, but we find that unless that is in accordance with the goal of someone else above, some power behind human scene, success cannot be brought about. You know there are great powers, the United States and other democratic nations, and there is the communist world, including Soviet Russia, Red China and all the rest. They want to have things for their benefit, both sides, but they cannot do every things how they want (Audio gap 8:00).
The United States, the democratic world, it has plans, it has goals, but on the way it must vacillate because they are stalemated at a dead end, so they have to concede. And on the other hand, the communistic nations too, from their strategy sometimes have to concede and give way to the opposite power.
When they concede, when they cross like this, at the transition point the rise or fall of both sides are decided. So we know that rise or fall starts right at a small point. Not to speak of the things on the national level, but when you think of things on the individual level too, we find things the same.
Human conscience
Every human has their conscience. Even in a very vague way one knows where to go, in what way we must move on. The conscience makes or accelerates the man to go the way in accordance with the national policy if he is a patriot. When the man has turned away of what he thinks justice in accordance with national policy, but in the end if the nation falls, he will fall with the nation he belongs to. So we cannot rely on the national policy.
Furthermore, we cannot rely on our own conscience. I don't know what your expression is, but in the Orient we say that someone's conscience is straight or crooked. When you call that your conscience is straight, does that mean your conscience is the standard? Or is there another standard that you can compare it with? – and you can say that your conscience is straight or crooked.
A straight line is drawn passing through two points. When you say that your conscience is straight, you yourself and your conscience, the two points must draw a straight line with your purpose ahead of you. In that case, if the goal is a sure one and a right one, you can say your conscience is straight; when you find that your own self is the conscience, those two points can draw a straight line headed for the goal.
Suppose there are 100 people here, but every one has his or her own goal, all different from each other. When you think of this matter, we think we can never say that human conscience, someone's conscience is straight. When you look back at your life, you find that you have been turning this way in your childhood, and you go like this in adulthood, in your old age you go still the other way, directed to different goals. By going zig-zag like this, we cannot define which is the straight way and the right one.
Humans struggle for happiness
Sometimes you are headed for the north and you call yourself straight. Humans, without exception, struggle for happiness. But why are they not happy? Any family, any nation wants to make itself a success, but they end up a failure. Why is it so? If the goal is set before us, the same ultimate goal and we all are headed for that goal on the straight line, going straight toward that goal, why and how can there be a failure?
Let's look at a sparrow. Does a sparrow learn how to chirp? They don't. They can do that. Have you ever seen them learning how to chirp? The cows moo and the lambs baaah. They do that without having to learn how, but they do that all the way through and there's no progress whatever.
When we were in New York we visited a museum of natural history. We saw the ecology of all kinds of birds. Some kind of birds, they make a nest round like this, with a small hole as an entrance, but it has a hallway, long like this, and through that tunnel-like hall they get into the inner part of their home. Different kinds of birds we saw make different types of nests. They do the same, generation after generation. Their offspring don't have to be taught. Even if the parent birds may take the young and fly away to different parts of the world, they will still make the nest in the same way. But things are different with human.
In a way birds are headed for the same goal; they go straight toward the goal. But human is headed for a different goal. We take things precious when they do not change, if they are unchangeable. (Audio gap 2-22:00 – 23:21).
A diamond has a mind
A grain of diamond has a mind. If we ask a diamond, what is your desire? it would answer right away, I don't want anything less than I am. They are confident in being the most precious one. If there is anything more precious, more shining than diamonds, the diamond would say, I want to be that. Gold, too. If there is a more yellow and glorious shining thing, immediately the gold would answer you, I want to be that.
Anything and everything does not want to be less than what it is. We can decide that anything precious is that which does not change. Like gold or diamonds, even if we put those in difficult situation like gutter but still they don't change. That's why everybody likes gold (Audio gap 2-26:35-27:32)
One may think in the morning, I will go this way, and all of a sudden even before you are halfway through you change your mind and go another way. The most vacillating thing in the whole world is human. You still think it is wonderful to be human? Do you still think that human is the most precious one?
When you think of an object, we say that it is precious because it doesn't change, but when you think of human beings, we know that it's vacillating, changing all the time, but we still think they are very precious. Can you think of yourself, when you find yourself wavering like this all the way through, can you still think of yourself as a precious being? No. You could never do that.
If gold or diamonds had a mouth to speak, they would say that they love a human who does not change, is eternally beautiful, even though their shininess may be drowned in the light of yourself. They would like to have that kind of human. If gold or diamond asked you to be unchangeable, what would be your answer? Do you want to be changeable? Do you want to stay unchangeable?
It's natural that things that are better than others, more than others, will come to dominate things less than they, worse than that. It is unnatural for human of less qualification to dominate those of higher qualification. In that case, anybody looking at some fact will think, oh, I change positions upside down like this. However, everything is good or bad, there are good things, bad things, wonderful things, less wonderful things. Would you like to take out and put forth? What kind of things are those – the best thing or less good or worse things? You want to hide the worst or bad things behind.
Which is more precious, ever-changing or unchangeable things?
Let's come back to the point again. Which do you think is more precious, the things ever-changing or unchangeable things? Even a small boy in elementary school will answer you that way. Could there be a supreme being dominating the whole world, an absolute being? And if we may ask questions to him, what would his answer be? He would also want unchangeable things. He will answer you, you must not change all through your life, through eternity. It cannot be helped. It should be that way.
You have one standard measure of meters and things like that. Will a ruler become longer and shorter, like this? It won't happen. There may be a ruler with a small difference, but that standard one in the museum should be without change, not different. You may have millions of rulers in your country having small differences from each other, but the standard ruler cannot be like that.
When you come to doubt, when you wonder if your ruler is correct or not, you have to take it to compare to the original. If we take it that anything is unchanging, we must think of the being above us who is never-changing and is eternal. Again, we must say that when we call our human conscience straight, we must be able to decide what makes it straight, in what way it is straight, or when and how is it straight. It is still vague, but we cannot help saying that if the straight line goes through eternity, keeping it straight, it's the final one, most precious.
If there is anyone who knows there is a straight line, the standard and original, never vacillating, never changing, then you can compare yours and find out whether yours is straight or not. When you have things, do you want to have things which are perfect or imperfect? But every human thinks that their standard is a correct one and absolute one, so you would demand everyone around you to be like you. That's a very serious problem, grave question.
The original standard
Everybody must find one original standard measure or ruler. Well, sometimes we may think that the president of a certain nation is the one, or the passed away saints, sacred men, could be the one. Or the measure of a man who you think is great has a correct and absolute, but it's not right. It could be wrong. That's because we know only too well that any and every human on the earth, either those passed away or still living, none has such a ruler absolute.
People in the Western hemisphere, when they find an original measure in one of the Oriental countries, you should go there to compare yours and find out whether yours is correct or not. If the Orientals think that their measures are wrong and they think that there is one which is accurate and original and absolute in one of the Occidental countries, they must go there and compare theirs with the original one.
If you find the absolute standard from past then you should follow that. If you are looking forward to having one like that in the future, you must abandon all things around you and wait for things to come.
Now let's compare people in primitive societies and the present world and the future world. Which will vacillate or change more? The primitive people who have not much to do, with uncomplicated things around them, or people living in modern civilization? Or future generations? When we think of the future world, what is it going to be like? Things are changing and progressing. In the future we can imagine that they vacillate every moment like this and you cannot sit still but have to hop around every minute to different places. But we don't like it too much. There is no doubt that you won't like that.
Evil makes others fall
Evil is to make other people fall, to harm other people. So from the very definition, we can see that evil is beginning with hatred.
When you see other people very happy, if you don't like the idea of that person being happy and if you frown at him, making bad impression on him, you have committed evil. If you are jealous of other people loving each other, and you frown at them and you stare at them, you are committing sin. That is evil because the other people feel bad and you harm the people in that way and make the people sad. But if you feel like singing in praise of the love between two, and you feel like loving them and you keep interacting with them. So it makes you and those rise.
If you find that person sitting all alone in depression, gloominess, then he is going through a dungeon of despair, and you want to solve his problem, you want to share with him, if possible take away his sadness and take his burden on your shoulders, in that case that person is uplifted, feels light and happy again, then you have benefited that person and you have performed love and your act is benefited again.
Jesus was a central figure of pure love. What kind of mankind of the past, present and future would cry out, come, those who are heavily burden. I will lift your burden onto my shoulders? That was a great utterance. I will bear it on my shoulders because I love you. Because he loved people.
It is because Christianity taught that kind of thing that Christianity never fell under persecution and so many untold difficulties and martyrdoms. If Christians of today are going through the same thing as early Christians, then Christianity will never fall. A Christian or any religion, should be able to share others' burdens for himself. Any religion teaching that to its followers will rise and never fall.
The greatest religion
If there is any religion that will teach the followers to take other peoples' burdens, not only the people living in the present world but those who are to come in the future, that religion must be defined to be the greatest one. Our Unification Church is teaching that as the very core of the thing. We are going to do this at the sacrifice of our own selves, but we are gaining the whole world in this way and we are gaining the future generations.
When we are fighting, we set our eyes not only on present victory but also on the future victory to win the future generations on our side. When you want to love a person, love him as you would God, as you would your child, love that way, but love him so much that you would even take care of and be responsible his or her offspring, loving that person that way. To such a person, the future would be his.
You want to love a person, you love that person and in doing so you are loving his ancestors and you want to love his future generations too. In other words, you are loving three generations centering on that person, like a grandfather, father and son put together. God is longing for the love of parents, love of the grandfather, all put together, two types of love together. He likes to find that kind of love.
So we need to love someone that representing the history. We need to love someone that has good ancestry. And we need to love someone good in this world. Also we need to love future generations like children too. The present generation, being the fruit of the past generation, and then in that way you are loving three generations – those belonging to the past, those belonging to the present, and those of the future. If there be God, would he not love those in the past? Would he not love the people living in the present time? Would he not love the people of the coming generations? That's the scope of God's love, the breadth of God's love, to love three generations, the past, present and future.
Our view of love
Our view of love is that we want to love the three loves – love of the past, love of the present and love of the future. And in that case it's something like we have a free pass in the spirit world, in the physical world and in the future. You are lovers of those people, and if you go to the spirit world will they dislike you, will they not welcome you? In our present world too you are welcomed everywhere, by every person.
Suppose you look at one person; you must think of that person as a symbol of the past and the future put together in that person. When you love this person, through him you find the love of his ancestors. Then if Master loves you, would your ancestors not like that? They are pleased. If you have children, would they not like the idea of their father being loved by you? By loving him, you are loving three generations because you are the fruit of your ancestry and beginning cause of the next generation.
There are many people don't think like this. So God wants him to stop quickly.
Now do you understand what I have meant by saying all these things? Without loving, we cannot reach the spirit world, we cannot reach out to the whole world, we cannot reach the coming generations. Love is such a great thing. And that great thing rises whether or not we can love the people. In that sense, it's a wonderful thing to love a person, pouring out 100 percent of love, pouring out your whole being, and then you are loving the spirit world, the past generations and the future generations. And by loving him you will have loved the whole world.
So I must say that the key to heaven does not lie in my pocket but in the pocket of the opponent. When I keep loving him that way, the key will be ours. I am sure to have the key and open the door to heaven. We are destined; we are compelled to go to heaven at all costs. Even though we may have to go through hell to reach heaven, we must do that. Anything hindering our going to heaven is evil, so we will reject evil. What is evil? We will reject hatred and resentment, and by being able to love each other we can enter the Kingdom of God.
That is why even on the cross Jesus prayed for those who crucified him, "You created evil and you wanted to hinder my way to heaven, but by loving you I have the key to the Kingdom of God." Love is one ultimate thing, and from that point is open the door to the kingdom. Jesus paved the way to the Kingdom of Heaven by going through the enemy nation of Roman Empire. It's possible with only love. And he could influence the Roman Empire to receive his ideology and he could even make the enemy nation to be one with by God.
The moment of rise or fall begins from love
So the moment of rise or fall begins from the love between you and me, between two. If those two unite with each other like this and become one, love should be uniting in such a way that nothing ever can separate those two. True love unifies those two and when they are unified in true love, nothing can separate them. When love is broad, it can be defined in our expression that we must shed tears for human, sweat for earth and blood for heaven. It works that was including the whole thing, heaven, human and the whole earth.
If Unification church failed then we will only live in the history. But on the contrary, even though my own nation of Korea has been rejecting me, I have not failed. (Audio gap)
… and many other religious sects have been opposing me but I have never failed. Many religions, many families have been against me but I have never failed and I have striven. So leave them alone and we will see that in the new future they will be gone and they will see our group rising and ever rising and they are surprised.
If there be God, what kind of good he wants to have on earth? No other people than that kind of group. Even the evil people around the globe will finally see that these people alone can save the world. You can rely on these people. Earth and all the creatures must want that kind of group to prosper and dominate over them. Then this kind of group is blessed by heaven, by the people and by the earth. It is our destiny to prosper.
It's true. It is your destiny that you joined this. Is every one of you wonderful in such a way? You are valuable, precious and amazing in the sight of God, in the sight of the people, in the sight of the earth. If you don't ___ yourself like that, it's not the way it should be. (Audio gap)

... representing heaven, men and earth. We must have great self-esteem, and you must feel as though you are a rich man. If you are miserable and hunting for people and looking for things to eat, looking for places to sleep, if you feel miserable like that, you are not qualified for that. (Audio gap)
Suppose there is an American boy, American champion. (Audio gap)
He has the highest record, two times as high as any record ever established. Everybody would think, everybody, including the president, any man, any child could think that he will win the race. (Audio gap)
...think it's only too natural for him to win the game always. What would happen if that person is too confident that he would rest for a while in the shade of the tree or bathe somewhere because he is sweating all over. Then what will people think of him? (Audio gap)
...betray their chief, betray their home. (Audio gap)
… But there is a man not quite good, that's running, he's weak and looks like he's going to collapse in exhaustion. And then he drink water and rest somewhat, then people are sympathetic with him. (Audio gap)
If you do your very best and the result is a failure, but in that case God is sympathetic with you and everyone around you will be sympathetic.
If what I have said so far true, you are, every one of you, champions in the heavenly race. (Audio gap)
Some of you have learned the Divine Principle, you have taught how to run and how to behave when you run, and all those things, and you are lazy to run, not doing your best, and then everyone will be irritate by you and must hate you. (Audio gap)
...being weak and helpless cannot run as fast as others, but doing your very best, then even though you have not won the race or have not won the first prize, you have not become that, but heaven is sympathetic with you and heaven will expect your second generation will accomplish what you have left unaccomplished. (Audio gap)
… being the champion of this path. The champion must be there at the starting point, able to swallow up the whole distance you are going to cover, and you must be confident that you will win. (Audio gap)
Love will give you strength
If any one of you, having done your best in loving your nation would die without accomplishing your goal, what will happen? That means if all will die without having accomplished their goal and you are left alone, what would you do? How can you keep going in that case? How far can you go?
Love will give you strength and everything else. If you pour out your whole being in doing that, you are loving that job, in that case you are winning sympathy from God, from the whole world, from the earth, and you are the winner, however when you love, you are the winner.
Love transcends law. Do you understand? That word is applied between God and us. If you pour out all your energy in a great love then miracles happen and healing is possible. You must have the idea of subjectivity over yourself with that great love, including the spirit world, heaven, man and earth. You can say to the men in the spirit world, whatever you want me to do, I can do, I will. You can shout at the top of your voice toward the whole of mankind, whatever you want me to do, I will do and I can. Then you can count and say that whatever the future generations would have me to do, I can do and I will.
Then three worlds will follow that person.
However great a human may be in the outside world, they can love and do things for only this world and for mankind living in this period. But we are the champions of loving and doing things for heaven, human and earth, past, present and future.
Wherever we go, victory is there
Wherever we go, victory is there, and everybody will recognize that victory to be ours, and with that confidence in your mind you can do everything. If you cannot love an individual in such a way, you cannot love the family in such a way. If you have not loved the family in such a way, you cannot love the nation in such a way. And if you have not loved your nation in such a way, you will never be able to love the whole world in such a way. And if you have not loved the whole world in such a way, you can never dream of loving the whole universe, then you can't love God.
So the starting point is an individual. Then what must the individual be like? An old man, or what? In loving an old man, you must not be loving that man in that age alone, but including his past, his childhood, his adulthood. Jesus loved people of all ages. He would love the children, love the boys and girls, love the adults, love the grown up age. If you are loving one person, you have to love that person's whole being, including childhood, adulthood and old age.
Suppose anyone loved ...young man of this age. In the worldly sense you are loving that man a day of today (Laughter). What is the Korean term? (Laughter). (end of file #3)
No one can ever love his parents and children in the future. No one has hitherto been loving that kind of love. But we must love him like that. In other way we can see that we must love his parents, love his children with him together. By doing that, we have set up the condition of having loved his past and his future. Then, by your love of him in that way, his whole family ranging three generations will be secured and in your favor. When you are welcomed by his whole family, you can rest there. That's the way Jesus loved the people. He told us not to reject the children, come to him. He would say that we must love our parents.
Real love
From that viewpoint the American people are not living the love taught by Jesus, not loving their people, not loving the children. The three types of love together that love is perfect. We are right in the middle. You must reach above you, your parents and your sons and daughters and really loving the family. Right in the center, middle of the two you can influence the past generations of your ancestry and your posterity and you can influence them in a bad way or in a good way.
According to the Bible, the second one is supposed to decide on the rise or fall, good or bad, of the whole thing. Those three must draw a straight line – your ancestry, yourself and the next generation. That is what is called in the Unified Family the foundation of four positions centering on God. So you must be able to love your parents or love your spouse and love your children. That is your common destiny. Those three kinds of love cannot be separated. They must be put together.
When you put those love together that is real love. Love can be strong. Even one separated, they must be whole. Any person who can love those three types of love put together can love all mankind. Otherwise, you cannot say you are doing this. The world is an extension of your family. In the world there are people of your parents' age, there are people of your age, and people of your children's age. And by loving those three types of love, you can say that you have loved the whole world, and you can love the whole world by practicing in the family.
How to broaden the scope of your love on all direction centering on the love of your family will decide whether or not we can bring the Kingdom of God on earth. If, centered on Jesus, he could love his parents, he could love his wife, he could love his children, and with that love and example his followers would have been attached to the family and broaden to the national scope and the universal scope, and in his lifetime the Kingdom of Heaven on earth could have been established.
Jesus could not find his bride
The reason of his not being able to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth at that time was that he could not find his bride, could not build his family. If he was not killed, could he not have founded that base? Without doubt he could have done that.
Because of his crucifixion he could not do that, and the providence was left unaccomplished. If there had been any such family carrying out what was left unaccomplished by him, based on that family or the central figure of the family, the whole providence of God would have been realized on earth. We are sure of that.
We need to become a loving family instead of Jesus. Men need to be brothers, women need to be sisters. We need to love each other as family centered on True Parents.
In creating human, in creating Adam and Eve, what God had in mind was father and children, Adam and Eve couple and then the coming generation. God had already those things in was his mind. God wanted Adam and Eve to love their children as God would love them. Would he not have done that? God would have man love him more than he did Adam and Eve. And if there be any person loving Adam and Eve more than he does God, what would God think, while Adam and Eve are his own children? Would he be pleased?
God is pleased to see a man loving his spouse
God created man and woman, created those two in order to see one loving the other more than he does himself, God. God is pleased to see a man loving his spouse more than he loves God. Do you know why this is? Do you understand what I mean? God is pleased with Adam when he sees Adam loving Eve more than he does God, but provided that Adam loves God 100 percent, and then after having experienced the love of God he is entitled to love his wife.
God is a jealous God, and if Adam did not love God 100 percent, and if he loved Eve more than he loves God, God would be jealous. Human of fall try to love each other without God there. God wants to be loved by human, and after that he wants to see people loving each other. If God is our parents, would God not be pleased with the love between his son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law? Would he not love to see them loving their children?
If God is there as a grandfather and if he is looking at the couple loving their own children more than they do the grandfather, their father, would he be pleased without loving him? (No.) Love God as grandparents, and you love each other, the couple love each other, and then in that case if you love your children more than you do your own parents, the grandparents are pleased to see that. But otherwise, if your love is not that way, he is displeased.
If you are in the position of the parents, then when you find your children loving their grandfather more than they do you, would you be jealous? Since the grandparents are your dear parents. If you have a lover, you bring that person to your parents and you would want your parents to love him more than they do. And if you find your lover loving your parents more than you do, then would you want to keep him away? If you find your lover loving your parents more than you do, then you are pleased to see him and you are proud of your friend before your parents. If there are three levels of love like this, you are loving the first level so much and you want the second level to love him more than you do and you pleased. If you are displeased with what has taken place in that case, that manner, you are not right.
There's the archangel, who's supposed to minister to Adam and Eve, but he was jealous of Adam and Eve loving each other, he was jealous of his them. He was jealous of (Audio gap)
… the archangel will bring destruction or ruin. That's the way the archangel will be pleased to see others loving each other more than they do him. If the archangel really knew that the greatest love is the love by God and he wanted to occupy the love and would like to share it with others, centering love. The love between the three levels must be able to please all those belonging to the three levels, without being jealous of each other.
Absolute family love
That's why in the Unification Church family we take the family love, an absolute one, where we can experience the three levels. In the Unified Family, above us there are God and the True Parents. Then who else are there? God, our True Parents, what else do you have? Blessed couples. (Audio gap)

Then in the Unified Family you must say with confidence, I am the child of the True Parents. (Audio gap)
...level. All through the past history there has been no one who has really understood that. There has been no such religion that taught us. If there is God there, True Parents and you as sons and daughters, would God there displeased with us when he sees us as parent loving the children more than we do God? That would not be received to see you loving your True Parents more than you do God. He wants to see you loving each other more than you do God.
More than you do the True Parents. In that case God is not settled. Our True Parents, Master, is not going to be jealous of that. You will experience that parents would like to see their children loving each other more than they do them. It must be so. God is the same. It is the same with God. In the will of God, we must know this, that it's true. If you are tearfully sympathetic with your brother when he is in misery, God is pleased to see you do that, to see you loving your brother more than he does God.
If you really feel love you can never fall away
Now we have found that wonderful thing is taking place in the Unified Family among the brothers and sisters. If you really feel the love of brothers and sisters in the Unified Family, of God's will, you can never fall away. If you really have the experience of having loved the brothers and sisters in the Unified Family more than you do your own blood brothers and sisters then you may go away for a time being but you are sure to come back. You can find no other place in the whole world to live in and be happy.

The three stages of formation, growth and perfection are always a great problem. When you look at the whole world, we find things going on there which cannot go beyond the Divine Principle. There are under-developed countries, mid-level developed countries, and most developed, countries – three stages. In general we may look at things in the general sense. Most of the under-developed countries are Negro society. In the midway developed countries we find yellow people, and the most developed countries in the worldly sense are the white race. They are fighting against each other (Audio gap)

God is above there, loving all those people of those three stages. He wants us to love Negroes, yellow and white people equally. To become a perfected human means to resemble God and you must be loving your own white race, but also the yellow race, the Negro race and others.
Our ideal is to be able to love
Our ideal is to be able to love those three levels of people at the same time and on an equal basis. Otherwise, we cannot say we follow God or we resemble him. If there is a Worldism, an "ism" which can unite the whole world, it will not be white people's alone or yellow people's alone. It will not be Negro people's alone. It will be everybody's.
In the United States there are racial problems between white and black. They themselves cannot solve the problem. The solution is not in the hands of themselves. The yellow race must go between them in order to reconcile those two. Being right in the middle of the two, the yellow race must be able to reconcile both. He wants to understand the Negro people and the white people.
Therefore, I am now thinking of organizing a society of Asiatic people. So the Asiatic people, yellow race will go between black and white and influence the black people to love the white people and white people to love Negro people. Love that is greater than the love we are practicing now is the love between different races. So black people can love the white people; white people can love the black people. Black people love the yellow people, yellow people love the white people.
In greater love, the ideal couple should be like this. In the higher dimension, the couple should not necessarily be both white, nor black and black, yellow and yellow. If a handsome white man would marry a black girl, the most handsome white man in the whole world, he likes the idea of that man marrying the most ugly black girl. He likes the idea of making those children, and he is confident that God is pleased with that, more than he wants to see the most handsome white man and most beautiful white girl together. What is more wonderful?
God is love. What is more wonderful stage of love – love between the whites in God's sight, or other stage, children. That kind of ideal must prevails in the Unified Family. Our Negro members here, I will not tolerate any white member looking down upon Negro members. Am I right or wrong?

Ten days before yesterday is one year since I visited you last. You have been working on the mobile team buses for about nine months now. I really appreciate what you have done so far as mobile team members working for your nation and for the whole world, while in the outside world there are many young people who go astray and are corrupted, and do as they please, against God's law.
The person who put you into that kind of difficulty is myself. So I apologize to you for having led you into hardships like that. I imagine during those nine months you have thought of many things-all different things according to individuals. You must have thought about our True Parents, the Divine Principle, our movement, and about what it is going to be, and about Oriental people. You have meditated on all sorts of things like that, I am sure.
Amid difficulties and hardships, if you find yourself progressing towards a higher dimension or a very meaningful goal, it is wonderful and it is profitable. But if you are sinking down in the midst of difficulties and are defeated by the difficulties, you are losing. I think all of you have experienced the former. You have all gained, you have all progressed by going through the difficulties. So I thank God, and am happy for you.
Is there anyone here who is seeing me for the first time? How many are there? Can someone count? [Twenty two] You must have been wondering what I would look like. You must have heard about me from your friends, from the newsletters, and things like that. But here I am before you; you can look at me. My subject this morning is going to be: the way the "tong-il" members should go. "Tong-il" means unification.
Our unification members are not going the path of life for ourselves alone. First of all, we are going this way under God's will-the great cause God would have us accomplish. God's will is to establish an ideal world, ideal kingdom on earth. The world must be composed of an ideal society, ideal families, ideal individuals.
When we view things from the standpoint of idealism or the ideal world, we must question if there is really an ideal individual in this world, an ideal family, an ideal society, an ideal nation, and if this world is an ideal place. There is God, all ideal and absolute Himself. But is there any single individual in this world who is the accomplished pattern of God's intention, God's ideal? I should say is there none. So God is working His providence of restoration, to restore man into the original form. In order for God to make this world ideal and make it into His kingdom, there must be an agency, a group of people representing His ideal, and that is only to be done through religion.
The reason why God set up religions is to make this world ideal, and the people under religions are supposed to do the work for God. And through those individuals, through those people of religion, restored personalities and ideal individuals can be created, or reproduced, I should say, and this world can turn into the kingdom of God. Among the people must be a central figure, and that ideal person alone can play the role of making the world ideal; and through that person, God works. That person, that individual, is called the Messiah, the Savior. The Messiah is the only person with whom God can love and consult about the matters He is going to do for the world. He wants to live with that person, centered around that person with other people; He wants to live in great love.
The person who was responsible for all these things was the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Before sending the Messiah to the nation of Israel, God had prepared for so long a time, so the nation of Israel might be-as it had to be-cooperative with Jesus, and become one with him in good harmony. The Israelite people should have known that God was pleased with Jesus Christ, and when they saw God loving this person, they would have loved him too. They should have. God loved him, God lived with him in love and harmony. And the nation of Israel, the people of Israel should have done the same with him-loved and lived with him.
The Israelite people and the people of Judaism at that time were in the position to beg God to let them know how much God loved him, and in what manner they should love him, and in what manner they should live with him and work with him to make this world an ideal one. They were in the position to want God to show them in what manner they should be in accordance with God's will. They saw that God loved him, and they had to understand how much and in what manner God loved him. And they knew that God lived with him and they had to understand in what manner He did. And from then on, they had to learn to do everything in the same manner as Jesus did. Through those things alone, the people of Israel could understand God's will and carry out God's will.
Furthermore, the Israelite people and the people of Judaism should have worked in accordance with Jesus' project, and looked into the manner of how he loved his people, loved the nation, and loved the whole world. And if the people had done the same, they could have established the Kingdom at that time. But there was no one, practically no one, who really understood that God loved Jesus, who really saw God loving him, and who really understood Jesus' loving the people. And they didn't understand in what manner they themselves had to love the people. Jesus' three years of public ministry were not years of living with the people in love, but restoring the people by paying indemnity, restoring them back into the bosom of God. So his course during those three years was one of struggle, difficulty, and hardships, and untold misery too.
He chose his disciples and took them around to teach them and to show them how to love people. But people around them, outsiders, did not understand what he was going to do, and under whose will he was carrying these things out. He was in great agony to have to win over Satan and bring the people back to God's bosom. He alone tasted the bitterness of his struggle. Nobody else understood. We must recall that after those three years of bitter struggle, all his disciples rejected him, denied him, and he was deserted. He was all alone, put on the cross, and he passed away in resentment. So we as Christians inherited the bitterness, the struggle he left undone in this world; and we did not inherit the love, harmony, and all those beautiful things.
We are not allowed to taste the glory and love of God, because Jesus himself was deserted without experiencing those things. That is because Jesus himself could not have love from God to the fullest extent, because of the world which did not receive him. So we are not qualified for that. He was not loved as an individual, he was not loved as a family, or by family members around him-he had no such experience. The nation, the whole world were there, left unfulfilled under God's will. That is to say, there were no love and harmony created and realized on the national base and the worldwide base. This leaves the ideal of the Second Coming of Christ, because Jesus Christ left things undone, unaccomplished.
So we Christians must start from the point of having to go through difficulties and hardships in order to restore and indemnify God's original world. And we must have this as our goal. Until we obtain the goal, we must struggle hard under God's will.
Then the question is, in what situation are we Christians in order for us to carry out God's will? We are in the position right in the middle of the battle, but we must be resolved to go through all obstacles and fight through until we gain the goal. And in accomplishing those things, we must be anticipating what is to come-the love, harmony, and all the beautiful things which are ahead of us, which are to be ours after we have gained the goal. That's why in the Bible, Jesus said, "Blessed are those who fight through to the last moment."
And in another place, the Bible says, "You must love God with all your sincerity, heart, mind, soul," pouring out your soul in sincerity and love. You must love God alone. That is because the Jewish people rejected Jesus, who brought God's love, who was the incarnation of God's love, and he was rejected and went through bitterness. So we must start right from that point we must go through the bitterness and struggle in order to obtain the happiness and love. In order for us to do that-to love God-we must deny ourselves. And there goes the Bible verse: "Those who want to die will gain their lives, and those who want to live will lose their lives." It means we can attain the goal, we can receive the Lord of the Second Coming who will bring God's love, and we can love him, live with him, and work with him and accomplish what he is going to accomplish only when we practice these things.
So we must be ready to give away, give out our lives, lose our lives, deny ourselves, in order to obtain God's love. And through that love, and through that person whom God sent, we can accomplish the mission. We must be ready to lose our lives for God and for God's will. You must bear those two things in mind: you must be able to love God, and to love God's will. In God's will, there are many levels of things-to recreate or save individuals, to save the family, to save the nation, to save the whole world, to save the macrocosm, including the spirit world. And only after having done this, having accomplished this much, are we really qualified to enjoy God's love.
The Messiah is the person representing God's will as an individual, as the core of the family, and as the central figure of the nation, the world, and the whole macrocosm. Because the Messiah is such a person, he is supposed to teach us on the individual level how to love God, and he teaches us how to love God representing the family. And representing the nation, the world, and the whole universe, he teaches us how to love God and God's will. Because this person, the Messiah, lives completely in accordance with God's will, in loving individuals, in loving families, in loving the nations and the world and the whole universe, he is with God and in conformity with God. So he is an example to be followed by us.
And have we learned how to love God on the individual level, according to the Messiah's standard? Has there been a single person out of all the Christians who has done that? There has been no such person as that. And there has been no such family, no such society, no such nation, no such world, and no such universe. So we must start right from the beginning.
From the viewpoint of God, He is discouraged. He has not been able to see any such individual, any such family, any such nation or world up to the present moment. God cannot abide in a world which is against His intention or His will. In this dark world which opposes God's will, God is really looking for one person who can be responsible for God's will, and such a family, such a nation, and such a world. He longs for that kind of world.
If there are no such people in the whole world, suppose God found a group of people who are willing to deny themselves and lose their lives for the great cause of God, and who are eager to establish the Kingdom of God under God's will. God is compelled to love this group. Even if He has to desert the other groups of people, He will be with those people and abide among those people. We members are supposed to carry out that kind of mission. And we are confident that we are in that position. We are the people who are going to carry out God's will on this earth in our lifetimes. We Unified Family members must be different from other Christians, who deserted God and disappointed Him. And we must be different from the democratic world, which, though God prepared it to accomplish the mission under God's will, could not carry out the mission. We must be different from those societies.
We must be resolved to work hard while other Christians, other people in the democratic world are at ease without working for the cause of God. We must go the other way if the people outside go a different way, and we must struggle hard without sleeping, without eating, forgetting about every worldly worry and going ahead with our goal and our vision. The way we have to go through is the way or path of restoration. The way of restoration is one in which we must go the reverse way. And we must just not walk the way but go the way restoring ourselves through indemnity.
When we go through the course of indemnity, we do not do that without a purpose in mind. We cannot just go blindly, but we must according to God's principle of indemnity; restoration through indemnity. That is the way of recreation. When we are being recreated, we must know that we are in the position of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, before the Fall. With Adam and Eve, God's intention of having created man was not accomplished, so we must accomplish that through ourselves. We must remember that in the Garden of Eden there was no Satan. In order for the word "recreation" to mean anything, we must start from the point that there is no such thing as Satan. However, there is Satan around us, so we must win that position by struggling to defeat Satan on the individual level, family level, national level, and worldwide level. So, after we have gained that much, from then on, we have to go through the course of recreation, and there cannot be anything like indemnity. This is only after we have won over Satan. Is there any one of us placed in that position? No, not yet.
QUESTION: What about Master?
ANSWER: He may have won the position, but his mission is to take you along the way, so he has not quite won the national level of things. So far, he has gone through the way of indemnity and could restore himself and could restore his family by going through the course of indemnity, but not yet the nation or the world. There is still a certain course of indemnity left for those things. Although he has so far restored himself to the original position, there are individuals-so many-around him; although he has restored his family, there are many Satanic families all around his family and the nation and world do not recognize God's sovereignty as yet. His mission is to win the whole world so that Satan has nothing to do with the world. There is a long way to go yet.
He must be able to restore other families at the cost of his family, other nations at the cost of the chosen nation of Korea, the whole world at the cost of every nation of the world and the whole universe at the cost of the world. He has his own family, but he is not in the position to love his family with all other families being pleased with it, and he is not in the position to love his family with the whole world being pleased with it. There are many blessed couples around his family, but they too are not quite entitled to live with his family and in the love of God. They don't know yet how to minister to his family. In other words, it is only after he has gained the nation and the whole world without anything to do with Satan, that he can really enjoy the blessing of God and the joy of God's love.
His mission is to carry out the providence of recreation, so what he is going to do is to do what God did at the time of creating man. When God created heaven and earth and everything therein, He could not create anything without pouring out His energy, His power. To pour out His energy and power means to have His energy and power consumed, to have put a part of Himself into the creation. Again, that means to put into the created a part of Himself. And when God created man and everything else, He created those for the sake of those created things, not for His own sake. Without his pouring all of Himself out into the created thing, He could not create on the perfect level He had to pour out Himself. He poured out His love, His life, His ideal and everything else into the created thing.
The Principle says that God created man in order to get joy out of him, this is what the Principle of Creation says. But when we think in what manner we get joy, can we get joy all by ourselves? No. Joy is not produced when you are alone or by yourself. That is because joy does not come out from you, but is returned from the object. You must know this clearly.
When I think of the word love, it is a reciprocal thing; you cannot love by yourself. Happiness is the same thing; you cannot be happy when you are all alone. Suppose you have a lot of money, and you are full of dreams, full of ideas. But are you happy if you are all by yourself, in solitude? When God created things, the creatures, He created them not for Himself, in the first place, but for the created. God created men for the sake of men themselves, but after that he was going to get joy from them.
The question is: For whom are the created? For men, on the side of men, where men alone cannot play the role of subject. We must know that men are created for the sake of God, when we speak of things on the side of men. Then God exists for the sake of men and men exist for the sake of God. Love does not come out from one's self, but comes from the other, which means the object. In God's creating man, we can say that God did that in order to have joy from him. Although there may be love in God Himself, He may be full of love, if He does not give, if He doesn't have any object to give the love to, the love has no life. The love is not love; the love is dead. When He finds the person as an object, love is animated. And when the love abiding in God's heart comes out and is given to the object, we see the fruit of His love. When Adam and Eve, man and wife, can form a couple and can reproduce and multiply, we see that love. With those three things separated, we cannot think of any love. When God loves men, men love one another, between man and wife-there we really experience God's love.

ANSWER: (From audience) - No.
Master: When you find a beautiful girl, an ideal one whom you think is for you, what happens? You experience love! However perfect God's love may be and however great God's love may be, if there is no object to receive God's love, the love does not act, cannot act, cannot appear. [In English] - Do you understand clearly?
Our life, with which we are born-where does it begin? When God created the first man, He was thinking of making one who could really receive His love and return it to him. In the course of recreation we are going to fulfill that. Then the question is, which is first, love or life? Which is first? God, being, the source of life-life is more important to Him. But, man is born out of love, out of the act of love, so love is first and more important to human beings. God had life and then required or wanted love to exist, but man has been born out of love and we pursue life. Man's life is erected on the basis of love. Then life, as such, must be fruitful in love.
Because man is built on the basis of love, he has life, and that life God can love; and man can return love or joy to God. God cannot but love man, because man is created in such a way. From God's standpoint, man should be born out of love and live joyfully in love, and die in love. That's what God would have men do. You are not born out of the life of your parents, but out of the love of your parents. Do you understand?
Since you are born out of the love of your parents, your parents are all ready to love you at the moment of your birth, from the moment of your birth. Since you are born out of love, you must live in love and must die in love; and by doing that you will have joy. Even in the United States, where individualistic ideas are growing, is there anyone who does not want to be loved by his or her parents, does not want to be loved by his family, by the people around him, by the whole world? Are there any such people? Why is it so? That is because we are born out of love, we are supposed to live in love, to get joy in love and die in the love. That is the natural law. So, that is why we desire such love around us. We think it is a bitter thing to know that there is such a high rate of divorce.
The more money you have, the more friends you have, the happier you are. But the more parents you have-are you happier? You don't want to have thousands of parents, but just one pair-the smallest unit. That is the proof that the path of love, the path of happiness begins at one point. You must know this clearly.
What is the most valuable thing in the whole world? If you were asked that, what would your answer be? Before marriage your parents. There is nothing more valuable to you than your parents' love. It is not because they have life, but they have love, that they are so dear to you. The next most important thing is married love, marital love. The third precious thing is love of children, your own children, who are born out of your love. Those three are the most precious things in the whole world: parental love, marital love and love of children. The reason why, we, under the Divine Principle, take those three loves to be so precious is because those three loves represent God's love. With those put together we feel, know and understand God's love. Without experiencing all those three loves, we cannot experience God's love fully. We cannot really know the existence of God without experiencing all those things.
Is there a single person who does not like the idea of being loved by his parents, by his spouse, by his children? How does love operate? First there is God, full of love, but just by Himself His love does not move. If He has an object, His love flows and is returned in the form of joy. If you feel you exist for your husband, for your parents, for your children, the stronger your love becomes. So whether you love God or another person, you must love with all your heart and with all your might and with everything you have; and then it will be returned in the form of joy, to the full extent, perfect joy. On the part of God, when He created man, He poured out all of His energy, all of His life, His everything-so from that point of view we can say that He was consumed in creating.
Suppose you are a businessman and you are going to invest a million dollars. When you do that you are ready to lose it? If you have it in mind that you are going to gain by investing that amount of money, you are joyful, you are glad, you are happy to invest it. We are happy to give it up for investment. When you invest your money it is gone from your pocket; but if that investment of yours, at the amount of a million dollars, will return to you with another 100,000 added to it, it will bring you more joy. If the amount is doubled, tripled, or four times more coming back to you, you will be so glad that you will dance around the place.
With God, it is the same way. When He created man, He knew that if He created man in the perfect form, after perfection, the joy that man would return to Him would be a thousand fold or more. He had that in mind when He created man. What He looked forward to, was that Adam and Eve after being perfected would bring back so much more love to Him. When He poured out His life and love and everything else into man, He was not sorry that He was losing those things, because He knew very well that all would be returned a thousand fold, with added joy and happiness. The more He poured out His whole being without reservation, the more He knew that perfect love and joy would be returned to Him. This is the law of creation, or Principle of Creation, centered on human love.
Without love, man could not have been created. So in the course of recreation, too, without love we cannot recreate the people of the world or recreate the world. For us fallen men, we have to recreate our own selves, because our first human ancestors fell and we are responsible for that, so we have to recreate our own selves in the place of God.
After having recreated ourselves, our object to recreate is our spouse, our family, our tribe, our nation, the whole world. This is why religions teach us sacrifice. When they demand sacrifice, they want us to pour out our whole selves, to give of our life, give of our love, money and everything else. If we pour out those things completely, what will be returned to us? For example, you pour out all your being, all you have into one person, and finally that person himself will be yours, including the love and the heart of that person. If you desire love, the secret of gaining it is to pour out yourself, your life, your love, and your everything. This is the law of recreation-simply to win the heart of people. Do you understand?
Suppose you had ten friends and you tried to define who was the best friend. You immediately think of one, and that person is the person who has given out all that he has to you-love, life and everything. Whoever did that most for you is your best friend. Isn't this true? Out of the whole history of the United States who do you think is the greatest patriot? The person who has fought, struggled and has given up everything he has for the sake of the country. Then all the citizens of the United States will be willing to give out all that they have to that person, with their love added, their heart. That is the formula which can be applied to any nation without difference of background; to people of any culture, people of any custom, people of any tradition.
When we come to think of that, we think of God as a wonderful God. Seen from the viewpoint of who gave out the most, who gave out everything he has, then it is God. If the people of the world really knew that God was like that, and that God is still pouring out all He has-His life, His love and everything-to us, they could not but love Him and return joy to Him. They would want to live for Him, die for Him, and belong to Him. God knew that and knows that still. If you know that you are loved by a person, for the first time, 100 percent without reservedness, you would want to return it not 99 percent or less, but more than 100 percent. Isn't that true? That is a wonderful thing, a great thing.
If there exists any person who receives God's love to the full extent and knows really how to return it to Him, then we must be learning from him how to love God. If there are any such people who can follow this person and try to love God through him, those people too will be loved by God. The more you try to love this person, the more you are loved by God, and by loving this person you are loving God. If you do that, the next person will love you and be attracted and something more is added to your love when it is returned to you. When love is multiplied, what is returned?-more than 100 percent. But you must remember the wonderful fact, that love starts only from sacrifice, giving of yourself, investing yourself, your life and everything. So, a person resembling God fully 100 percent is the person who is prepared to give of himself completely. That person we can call an ideal person.
Between man and man, the same may be applied. When we are born, when we are created, we are not created for ourselves. We are created for our spouse. Do you understand? Is a woman born for the sake of women? No. A man is born for the sake of a woman. You men folk, don't get too proud of yourselves-here you are born a man, but you are nothing if you don't have a wife. Right from the time of our birth, from the start, we are born for the sake of others, not for ourselves; we must remember this. So we reach the conclusion that if there is any good man, ideal man, happy man, respected man-the best man is ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. Isn't that true? There is nothing erroneous in that.
Then, let's come back to American individualism: "I am born for myself, I must do as I please." Is that right? Is that a good thing? It is destined to lead us into destruction. I want to cry out to American youth, "You must remember that if you go on like that you are doomed." With our Divine Principle formula in mind, when I look at the country of the United States, I am sad. This country is doomed to destruction, ruined. Don't you think so?
Then who is going to save this country? We are only a handful of people, but we are ready to save this nation, at the cost of our own lives. We must be confident that we are those who can save this nation. In our eyes, there are no President, Senators, Congressmen if they are against this heavenly law, this divine law, by which alone we can save the nation. In the United States, I find that many young people enjoy love for their own sake, just the fleshly side of love. They misuse the most precious thing, the divine love; and I am most unhappy to see this. Without God's love, without the precious side of love, there is no life, no anything. There must be eternal love, eternal give and take of love and then there will be an ideally happy society, created by us.
What is the most precious in this whole world of live, and when we find that love, experience that love and are ready to multiply that love, the ideal world cannot but come. This precious love is obtained only through the person in the object position, so when you love, you must respect that person, treasure that person and cherish what he has. That must be your attitude. Only by living that way can we realize the ideal and find our ideal happiness.
No one in the world likes dictatorship. Yet love is the greatest dictator. If you want to be dominated by love, you must be occupied by love, you must be dictated over, bossed over. You are ready to, as you say, be bossed by the greatest love. In that case you like that dictatorship. Is there anyone here who wouldn't like that? When you are embraced you want to be hugged until your bones are crushed. Even though your whole body would be crushed and out of joint, you would be intoxicated in love and joy. Love is the greatest thing and love is the greatest dictator, and in this dictatorship we find joy.
When you make love with your spouse, do you let any others interfere there? Is that democracy? Well, there is no democracy there. Democracy will be gone; we will have dictatorship under God's love. Then whose love do you want to receive in that manner? Even though he may be boss over you, under strongest dictatorship, you are ready to receive it and only too glad and happy to receive it. Whose love is like that? God's love.
When we come down to the level of men, a boy would like to have the most perfect woman-most beautiful, externally and internally, a perfect creature, a perfect girl for your wife. A woman wants a perfect man for her husband. You want your love to be more perfect, more perfect and more perfect until you reach God's love. You want God's love, and then you want your own love centered on God's Love. But alas, there is only one God. What should we do? Shall we fight against each other to win God? If we know that anything and everything is the object of God's love and God's love is infinite-the question is solved.
I have a handkerchief here. It is like any other handkerchief, but if you people really want to be loved by me and I am the only one you respect and love, then my handkerchief is more than other handkerchiefs. Mine has a sentimental value. You want to have this more than anything else. You want to be given anything by the person whom you love. When you find God, and find that God is loving you, God is perfect and absolute, full of love, the original love. If you find that you are loved by Him, you wouldn't desire anything more. The Divine Principle teaches that we become one in the love of God; that's a wonderful expression.
Suppose you have just one thread of hair of your loved one. That has infinite value. As a child, you love your doll and if you have a thread of her hair, it belongs to her, it is a part of that doll, and it represents-when you have that thread in your hand, you can feel as though you have that doll in your bosom and that means everything, that means that that doll itself is there. For us fallen men, the most important thing is to love God. That is why the Bible says, "You must love God with all your heart, with all your might and with all your being." In that case, by loving God, you are not losing anything, but it is returned, doubled, tripled and more than that.
I think we have understood the method of the ideal way of restoring ourselves, recreating ourselves-the Principle of recreating ourselves into ideal men. Love is reciprocal, and only through love we can recreate ourselves. That means that we must have an object in order to recreate ourselves. In order to find an individual to be our object, we must pour out love. And in order to find a family, nation, and whole world, we must give out our love and everything we have. That is the way to recreate an individual, family, and the whole world.
Have you ever done anything to recreate such a family, such a society, such a nation and such a world? Have you? Adam and Eve fell and caused God's will to be nullified; so in order to recreate ourselves, we must find our original selves on the individual level and then we must restore our families and do the same on the national level and the worldwide level, and then the universal level-which means the level including the spiritual world.
In what manner and how much have you participated in recreating the world? Do we have our own nation? Do we have our own world? No. That means there is no world which God can love, and no nation whatever. In order to recreate or restore yourself, you must pour out all you have for that purpose; in order to recreate or restore the family, you must pour out all you have, your life and your love and everything there. And in order to restore or recreate the nation, you must pour out yourself, family included, for that purpose. In order to restore the world, you must give everything, including family and individuals into this. Without your doing that much, you can never dream of restoring the whole world.
When you do things, do you want them to be done perfectly or imperfectly? [In English] Perfectly-everyone wants to do things perfectly. If you want things to be done perfectly you must be ready to pour yourself, your whole being into your actions, perfectly, 100 percent. You want yourselves to be perfect, but have you been doing whatever you can for that? If not, you cannot think of your being restored. That is the Principle, that is the formula. Some of you here may be very proud of what you have accomplished-1 have done this, I have done that." But have you really put your whole being into that business, into that thing?
Have you loved each other and harmonized with each other? And in oneness did you pour out your energy for this great cause? If you have done that, even if you did not win many members, this whole nations of yours will be touched and moved and stirred up by that and it will return to you. Have you done that? Please answer me. [NO!] Did you try to? You didn't even try to.
Before God, you must always be humble and think, even after having done what you could, "I have not done quite what I could, I want to do more." And, you must apologize before God for what you have not done, that you should have done and be ready to do more for the future. That must be your attitude. After a day of hard work, you are tired and exhausted and you sink into bed. When you are praying, before God you must be like this, with this attitude in praying to God: "Oh, I have not done all I should have done. Oh God, I apologize before you. Please help me do more tomorrow. You wanted me to do this much and that, and I could not quite accomplish it. Please give me more strength to do that tomorrow." And there comes God's sympathy. God's heart is touched and moved and then His energy is poured out to you and you are strengthened for the days to come.
Have you ever loved anyone with your whole heart? If you have never experienced that, if you have never loved a person with all your heart, how can you love God? When you have not loved man with all your heart, you cannot say you love God. Then Jesus said that he came not to be served, but to serve the people. His love was not that which would be poured out just to those persons who loved him, but he was ready to love the enemy.
Have you ever been so serious, that you think that a person's life or death is in your hands? So when you want to speak to that person, you are really serious and you almost tremble before God to think that there is the possibility to fail this person. Then you will be doing right. At that moment you must pray to God, "Help this person from your part, but use me as an instrument to love this person. Save the life of this person. All is in your hands, all in your hands. So, please use me to do your job." When you are that serious, God will be working with you. Even in the work of recreation, God must work with you, you alone cannot do any. thing.
Have you ever loved any person in your family, in your neighborhood, people on the street in that seriousness? You have learned the law of restoration through indemnity based on the Principle of the relationship between Cain and Abel. Recreation is more difficult than creation. Creation is like sprinkling water and molding the clay. It will work when the clay is obedient. But, recreation is something like pouring oil mixed with water on the clay, and it scatters and will not be molded according to your will. You must try to get rid of the oil. And when you have removed that oil, you can use water to mold the clay to form. It is something like getting rid of the Satanic element from man. Between Cain and Abel, we must have Cain obedient to Abel. By doing that alone we can mold people back into the original form. That is something resembling God's work; fighting against Satan. He tried to get rid of Satan, remove Satan, who comes attacking God. By loving His people and even by touching the heart of Satan, everybody becomes like clay in His hands, obedient, utterly devoted, and then he can mold the clay into other forms he would want it to be. The course of recreation is like that.
Then, how much have you done for one person? How many visits have you made, how many telephone calls have you made, how much have you done? What you have done, under God's will, if you pour out your whole being into that person, that is never nullified. Even if that person might not have been fruitful, even if you were not able to bring that person into the movement, your effort will be harvested in other places, be fruitful in other persons. You have not done this in vain. Who is the person we must miss and love so much in the course of restoration? That is the question. Who is it we miss, we love and whose example we would follow? God is not dead, either.
The course of restoration goes the reverse way, so we must start from loving the servant, the person in the position of the adopted son; then after having loved the son, by grafting yourself to that son of God, you can be loved by God, and you can meet your True Parents. There are terms like "the foundation of faith" and "the foundation of substance." Without Cain and Abel becoming one like this, they cannot meet the True Parents. That is the Principle. Even if they are here, they don't belong to Him. I am here, but I don't want you to come directly, but to go out and bring some Cains with you to meet me. In order for you to do that, you must love and even serve your servant and love the adopted son and those in the position of the adopted son and those in the position of the son and then you can come to me.
Jesus was the Son of God, but he came to bring the whole nation to Him. If Israel had cooperated with Jesus, he could have established or carried out his mission, but they could not do that. He could not set up the True Parentship. Only on the foundation of Jesus and Judaism in harmony with one another, in oneness, there could have come True Parents. The people, by becoming one with the True Parents alone, could have come to God. The human fall caused Cain and Abel to be corrupted, and they were separated and lost their parents. Cain and Abel were separated from God by the fall and lost their parenthood, and their children are scattered. There is disharmony created between Cain and Abel type of persons, so in order for us to recreate men, we must go the reverse way. One Cain and one Abel must be brought together in good harmony, in order to meet their Parents. So the person whom you must be missing and loving the most is who? Cain!
Then, from the part of our Leader, who is the person whom he should be missing and loving? You people, representing the whole nation. Jesus failed to do that, so Father must be able to accomplish what was left unaccomplished by Jesus. After winning those people in the Cain position, by bringing them along, he can really reach God. Everything is the same with him. He loves you so much, more than he is loved by God. He is confident that you miss him, you love him and you want to return to him, more things added, more than 100 percent. Am I right in thinking like that? [YES!] If you put yourself in the position to find yourself like that, you can meet Father with open eyes. That means that you can see visions of him, even if he is away from you; you can see him, you can be with him. Is there anyone who has had such visions here? If you reach that point, you will see me in dreams and visions. You must foster that sensation to 100 percent level. Then you will see and know what he is doing back in Korea, what he is thinking, what he would want you to do, everything like that.
We call ourselves the members of the Unified Family, Family members; it means we are brothers and sisters under common Parents. And, when we are really brothers and sisters in one family, would you not be sad when your parents are sad, would you not be angry when they are angry, would you not be missing someone when they miss him, when the Parents miss him? The way for the members to go-what the members should do is to solve the agony or ease the heart of the True Parents. Then you must study what our True Parents have in mind, what their agonies are. The True Parents' request to you is to become the restored individual, for you to have a restored family, for you to win a restored nation, world and universe. We have Unified Family members all over the world. We are a special tribe living on earth, destined to carry out God's will. We have a different tradition from others. The law of our living is different. Our goal, our purpose is different from others. Everything we have is different from what others have. We desire things of a higher dimension, greater, more beautiful, more perfect.
If you can sacrifice yourself on a small level, God will request that you sacrifice yourself for greater things, bigger things, things of a higher dimension. And would you like to sacrifice just for yourself, for your family, for the whole nation or for the world? That is the question. For that purpose, our Master has been fighting in Korea. He has done what he should for the nation of Korea and now is ready to work for the whole world. But he hadn't been doing things by leaps, just overnight. He has had to lay the foundation after a bitter struggle and hardships; lay the foundation on the individual level, the family level and the national level, and the way ahead of him is the same.
In the Divine Principle, you are taught that we are going to restore, through indemnity, what we have on the vertical level, through the history being played out on the horizontal level. That means we must be able to restore 2,000 years of Christian history on the horizontal level in 20 years of our Unified Family history, the history of our movement. That history started in the year 1960. We are entering the thirteenth year. The Satanic power is doomed to decline and by the year 1980, we are sure to see that the Satanic sovereignty will have fallen. Now, he is treading the way, all by himself, without any people knowing or understanding his heart. He still has no one to consult with. That is because he is in the position of Adam and Eve before the fall. At that time there was only the Archangel with them and no other created beings. So, they are all alone without having anyone to consult. From this standpoint, you must understand, that people all over the world, especially the Unified Family members, must be ready to follow our Master wherever he goes, even though you may not understand what he is really doing. What he has gone through during those twenty years, you must be able to restore through indemnity within seven years. For fallen men, they are destined to go through a seven-year course at least.
According to the law of indemnity, he has been able to indemnify, restore through indemnity, the 2,000 years of Christian history in the course of twenty years. And now here you are, having to be able to indemnify the course of what he has gone through during the interval of twenty years, in the time space of seven years. It is narrowed down like this. In order for our Master to reach this point, he has gone through the position of servanthood. Then, he has had to go through the period of adopted sonship. He won the sonship, and then was blessed by God in the year 1960. In the year 1960, after he had been blessed, he had to create a family and from then on his purpose and his intention was to bring you up to the position of sonship, by blessing you. That is to be done after you have gone through the seven-year course which corresponds to God's creation of the things and man. He created, during the six days and during the seventh day he had Sabbath.
You have things different from other people-that is, the descendants of Adam and Eve did not have True Parents, but you have them. The relationship between Christians and the Savior was that between the son and the servant, but now the relationship between the Unified Family members and our True Parents is that between parents and sons and daughters. Up to the present, in the past, the son and servants were related on the horizontal level. But now we are on the vertical level, the Parents there and you, as His children. So you must concentrate on the idea of your having God and True Parents, God and True Parents. And you must put your whole effort into creating or establishing the kingdom of God, centered on God and the True Parents, the Kingdom of God on earth. This kingdom must be won, welcomed and received by the whole of mankind. It is not to be rejected; it must not be rejected. In order for us to be able to establish that kind of kingdom on earth, you must become one, perfectly one with our True Parents. And they and us together can realize the goal. We are now living in such an important age. We have never had such a age and we will never have one in the future. This is the only chance.
Where are on earth must we erect that kingdom? You may say Korea, but Korea includes the United States. Would you like to bring Korea to the United States? [YES!] We do not want to talk of the matter in a geographical sense, but under God's will, Korea is in the position of Adam and Japan is in the position of Eve. And across the Pacific Ocean, there is the vast land of the United States, in the position of the Archangel. These three are most important. Maybe you are hurt that you are in the position of the Archangel? The United States has a larger population of Christians than any other nation.
In the course of restoration, God has had to restore reversely, so the nation in the position of the Archangel had to be restored first. God's will was working behind what happened after World War 11. The United States, in the position of the Archangel had to help Japan, which was in the position of Eve, even though that nation was defeated in the war. And up to the present, the United States has been helping Japan to grow, to recover and grow. There had been no such instance in the past history. And the United States has been helping Korea too. You are in the position of the Archangel, and now we are entering the age of restoration and you have to return every material blessing you have to Korea, to some extent at least, so you have been helping Korea. In the United States, women are highly esteemed and you men folk, have to help the women when they want to get out of a car, like servants. The human fall was that the Archangel trampled upon Eve, the daughter of God; but we see reversely this time, the Archangel must go the reverse way with a respect for those who are in the position of Eve. In the future, the American men will be in the position of disliking women. What he means is that you do not treasure your families.
So we often see many bachelors here, who don't like the idea of marrying girls. Those people are increasing in number, isn't that right? But on the other hand, they also want to have premarital sex, and we often see boys and girls making love under the trees in the park. Well if you go on like that, you are apt to lose your family relationship, your nation even, and finally you will lose the whole world.
In your eyes, there are no fortune, no science, no anything; but you want to enjoy freedom. It is because nothing belong to the position of the Archangel. The Archangel has no right to possess anything, originally. You are the citizens of the United States, but there are not many real patriots of the nation, or individuals really loving this nation, his family or himself, in a sense. Seen from the standpoint of Eve, she-being tempted of course, but by receiving the temptation, by welcoming Archangel's proposal-corrupted both the Archangel and Adam. Japan is in the position of Eve. Japan must play the role of uniting the United States and Korea, reconciling or putting them in harmony with each other. But, in case Japan fails to do that, it means Japan will not have carried out the mission assigned to her.
For most people, they think that western culture is declining, has come to a dead end. They come to long for what is Asian, what is Oriental. The United States must be in the vanguard, and play the role of the restored Archangel and help bring about peace on earth, but if the Archangel, the United States, would lose Japan-if Japan became Communist-God's will would be difficult to be carried out. Master has been trying to influence the government figures of Japan, through the political party of the Liberal Democratic Party, in order not to put the United States and Japan into a position of rupture. If there comes to be a split between the United States and Korea, and even the United States will be failing into the pits of Communism. It is even now beginning to fall prey to Communism. This is the condition we have now.
But Master says, nevertheless, there is another history being created, being woven. If, under the Divine Principle, the United States, Korea and Japan are united into one and carry out their divine missions, however hard the Communists might attack us God would be on our side. We are sure to win over them, and the victory will be ours. Human history will be from then on under God's will. Even if Japan had to fall under Communism, if the United States and Korea would become one in democracy and win the freedom-loving nations of the world, with those two put together in a fight against Communism, we are not destined to fail.
We are on the edge of great danger; that is why Master wanted to come over to the United States. He is here to fight against the evil force. From now on, he is going to bring more people from Japan and Korea-not just any members, but staff members, important people who are holding important positions. After having brought them to the United States, he is going to have them work with the staffs in the Unified Family of the United States. I think you have heard of the Japanese members who have come to the New York center to work with the New York members. Do you know the reason why Master did that? Japan, being in the position of Eve, must go through more difficulties, twice as severe as others may. Because of the fall of Eve, all mankind lost their nation and their people, so the nation in the position of Eve must work hard to restore those things. The nation represents Eve, so they must be able to restore a nation and the restoration must be in their hands.
In the first place, the Japanese brothers here must be able to restore financially. Financial restoration is their mission. If the Japanese brothers work hard, twice as much as the American brothers do, heaven will be on their side and they will be blessed with fortune. The only difficulty is their language problem, that they cannot speak English well. But I am telling them, "You cannot speak the language, but you can work hard-twice as hard as the American members-and you are sure to win the goal." It is the responsibility of the people in the position of Eve to learn to earn money, to learn to use the money and learn to play the role of custodian of the money. It is because they are in the position of the mother, Eve. Eve, the mother, is in the position of running the home financially, though she has more to do. She will teach you how to live, how to minister to your Father, how to love your Father, how to live under His dominion. That is why I have brought so many Japanese members over here. I have so far brought twelve, but by June next year, there will be some 120.
Then you American members, do you like the idea of being defeated by the Japanese brothers? [NO!] But the Japanese members, even though they don't speak the language, will never be defeated by you. They have been here only less than a year, but I have read their record and it showed me, surprisingly, their profitable work. The average money they brought in was more than what the American members did. I told them, I ordered them, to make $1,000 each per month from now on, and they feel challenged. They will carry it out, I am sure. If they don't do that, I will either chase them away or bring no more Japanese members here. My goal is not just to have them make money, $1,000 each month, per person. Even though I would leave them in Japan, they would do that and more than that.
In the history of restoration, the fact is that Korea, the nation in the position of Adam, and the nation in the position of Eve must be helping the nation in the position of the Archangel. That is why I brought members from Korea and from Japan, to develop the work here. You must be working harder than ever, while you are being helped by the Japanese brothers. If we are really brothers and sisters in the Unified Family, you must be willing to live a humble life, humbler maybe than the Korean members and Japanese members. You must be willing to do that. Now I must reveal my plan for the coming two years. By 1974, we must at all costs be able to open big centers in all the states. We have only two years ahead of us. That means, according to my estimation, I have to spend some $40,000 for each state in buying or in paying the down-payment for the centers. So, a total of 2 million dollars is needed.
In the United States, there are many Christians. They are in the position of Cain and we, the Unified Family, are the Christians in the position of Abel; and we are going to bring the Unified Family members from all over the world to put into this country. That means that those in the position of Abel are going to win those in the position of Cain and then, alone, we can restore the whole world. America is the stage for that.
So, from now on, I command that your hair be cut short. Not only that. You must be different from those in the Cain position. We hate to follow that way they do; let them follow us. Let's be the examples. I must make you into clean-cut young men, hair cut neatly, shaved well, with your suits on tidily and all that. You must love your family, your nation more than anyone else outside of our Family. When I talk to you, I want to make you go through struggles and hardships for the sake of your nation. Do you think this is the way leading to destruction and ruin or to prosperity? If we are going to prosper at all, or rise from corruption, we are eager to do it now, in the shortest possible time.
By the end of 1974, 1 am planning on sending out some 2,000 mobile team members, throughout the country. The number of the members must be something like 8,000, in order for us to send out 2,000 members on the mobile team vans. We have only two years left. Are you confident to do that? [YES!] That will be no easy job. But if we cannot carry this out and make it a success, the providence of restoration will be a failure. What you are doing here in the United States will influence the whole world. If you leave your country like this, do you think it will prosper or get destroyed and ruined? We cannot sit still looking at things, but we must be able to stop it from being ruined.
In Belvedere Estate, surrounded by the natural beauty, I prayed to God, "Father, I am here, I am ready to fight. I am ready to save this nation. Please be with us and work through our members and we will show you how we can save this nation, under Your will." But in my heart there is one thing which I was worried over and that is whether the people of the United States hate to go through difficulties. In that case, what would happen? What must ~ do? In that case, if you are unwilling to go through these difficulties to attain the goal, I must bring people from the Eastern world and from the European nations to help this nation and from here on to save the whole world.
Don't you remember-have you forgotten that your forefathers fought for the great cause of God and they sent out missionaries to other countries, underdeveloped, savage countries, and fought in order to spread the gospel? And you have that tradition. If you forget all those things and are unwilling to take up the job, your nation is doomed to be destroyed. So, I warn you to fight for the great cause, inheriting what your forefathers left to you. We must become new Puritans. Your Puritan fathers established this land and fought for that great cause. Let's become new Puritans of the New Age. In the way of the Puritans, there must be obstacles, there must be persecution, there must be many bitter difficulties and hardships; but if we are ready to fight those things as a challenge, then God will be on our side and our battle will finally be a victorious one. We are born into the age of being blessed with a goal. After having won the battle, we will be the victors, and we must be grateful to Father that we are born in this age and that we are the warriors to fight for the cause of God.
We are here, meeting with each other in one place like this, and it is no coincidence. Behind the scenes, there has been a long history of tears, sweat and blood. And in order for us not to nullify those bloody battles fought by our forefathers, we must at all costs make our battle a success, in order not to make the future generations suffer the same things. If we are reluctant in doing this, and if we fail in doing that, our descendants will have to go through more bloody battles with more tears and with more sweat. We hate to leave the mission to our offspring. So, let us fight through this battle and make it a victory.
That is why we are here for the training this time. You people of the United States have hitherto been proud of your country. Your country has been a leading nation of the whole world, wealthy, blessed in every way. To this great nation is added, people from Japan, people from Korea, people from the European countries. If you are not willing to fight through the battle until you make it a victory, God will not leave you alone. So I warn you to be resolved to fight and make this a success. Otherwise, your descendants will accuse you of having made the greatest mistake in the history of mankind, and their bitter pride will be resounding in your ears in the spirit world. You must never be a failure. So, I want you to be resolved, at this moment, right here, that you are going to fight the good fight, to make yourselves victors and your descendants, the citizens of the kingdom of God.
What do you think? Must we be more diligent and enthusiastic in fighting for the cause, more than the Japanese brothers, the Korean brothers and the European brothers? [YES!] Then can you promise that, before me? [YES!] Before all, I am going to bring some thousand members from Japan. I will set the example in your eyes of their working hard, by going through untold bitterness. In that case, it is natural for me to drive you out in the same way. Is this good or bad? [GOOD!] Good for whom? [US!] Good for the United States, your country.
I am a Korean, by nationality. Why am I here driving you out, getting you on the spur to fight for this nation? It is because your nation is blessed by God and your mission is to save the whole world being used as the instrument of God. You don't realize what a difficult situation a man is in when he doesn't speak the language. The language barrier is something really difficult. The brothers from the Eastern world and from the European nations will gather to fight here even though they don't know the language. You must understand their hearts, and you must love them and encourage them and fight more than they do. Don't you see the Japanese brothers working here, selling candies-they do not know the language, but they are eager and enthusiastic to sell the candies, for the sake of our movement, your nation. And then you can imagine what difficulty they are going through. When I met Japanese brothers here, I felt that I was guilty of having put them into such a difficulty. They have well-to-do families, loving parents and brothers and sisters; and in the Unified Family too they have loving brothers and sisters, working together, so dear to them. But, they are over here working for a greater cause, of course, for this nation and for you. They are going through such difficulties I could not stand looking at them.
I took their agony, their difficulty as mine, just as God took my burden as His. And I want you to be cooperative and encouraging to the Japanese members. On the other hand. I am the person who has driven you American members, who have not had the experience of going through difficulties, to the front fields to fight on the Mobile teams. If you had not met me, you would not have done that. You are going through difficulty and I sympathize with you. In my heart, I want to soothe your hearts, console you, make you happy and relaxed, but I am here again and have to say the same things or more severe things to drive you out to the battlefield. That makes me agonized. With my aching heart, I have to do this, because there is God's will still unaccomplished, and we can fulfill it.
I can look around, but there is no one else except you people who are really concerned about the nation, who really love this nation and love the will of God and will do the job. That is why I have to call upon you to do the job. I look up at God, my Father, and pray for you-for Him to give you the strength to carry this nation. And when I look at you, I very frequently do so with tearful eyes and aching heart. But, I have to do that for you, while you are doing this for the nation and the whole world. I want you to realize that.
One thing I promise to you, even if I am in the United States: I don't want to be a debtor, I don't want to be indebted to you. I want you to remember when you go through these hardships, that there is God, there is Heaven-God, our Father, who has gone through more difficulties, more bitterness, more hardship than you are going to go through. When you are faced with untold difficulty and you are frustrated-well almost collapsed without being able to stand up again-well, you must gather yourself together remembering God, who has gone through more difficulty than that and who is ready to give you strength if only you are deserving and you are ready to receive His love. You are in the position to reject and turn away and fall away and turn your back on me, but I am not in the same position. I have to go ahead. God also cannot turn the other way around. He must go until He wins the goal. Even though you may have to die on the battlefield, you must not forget that. You are going to be the victor, as are others. If you are so resolved and go out to the battle field again with a high and uplifted pride, our battle will be a victorious one. You can believe this. If you are resolved to do that, the United States will be a nation of hope, a new nation. By our doing this, the whole world will become a world of victory, a world that belongs to God. We are fighting the final battle, and you cannot be discouraged or frustrated. Joshua and Caleb inherited what Moses left in their hands: they had to fight on, and God gave them strength and encouraged them to be strong and courageous. Then what shall we do? Can you really promise me that you are going to fight through and be the victors in the battle. [YES!] Thank you.
Let's go to the conclusion. We must be the symbol and the subject of recreation. We must be proud to be the soldiers fighting for God's cause, for the Great Cause, on the individual level, family level, national level, on the level of the whole world and the universal level. Don't you feel that by our pouring out the whole of our being into this cause, the whole world is being changed, being re-shaped, being renewed? And although I am a small being, like a grain of sand in the ocean, as I worked through my course, I always experienced that God was there, helping me, sometimes going ahead of me and doing things for me. Let's believe in God and trust in Him-the God whom our forefathers, our first ancestors Adam and Eve deserted and did not believe in. We must be prepared to minister to God, whom Adam and Eve failed to serve. Let us love God, the sad God whom Adam and Eve failed to love. Let us be ready to lose our lives for the sake of God and His will, while Adam and Eve failed to do that.
If our Family is to prosper at all, the descendants, the children must be greater than the parents. What I want you to do is to love God more than I have-love God whom I have loved, but more than I did. I want you to serve God and love God, more than I served and loved Him. From the start, I was resolved to throw away my life, to lose my life, to deny myself for God; but here I am, still living. And I am sometimes shameful of that. But you have youth; you are in your twenties and thirties. You have a long life ahead of you-why can't you fight for the cause?
By your doing that your ancestors will be benefited in the spirit world; your family, your neighbors, your friends and your nation will be saved by you, by your doing this. Like a parent looking at his children and wanting them to do greater things than he has done, I expect, I want you to do the same. I want you to do greater things than I do.
I imagine often that I am in my deathbed, and in writing my will, I thought I would say this: I imagine there are many of you-all of you, in fact-who will cry over my death. What I want you to do is to shout out before God, "Let me love You, more than my Father did, more than my Master did. He said he could not love You enough. Let us be able to love You, more than anyone else in the world."
If you really love me, I want you to love God in place of me, more than I do Him. If you really love God, you must be loving your brothers and sisters whom God loves. When I bring more brothers and sisters from Japan and Korea and elsewhere, please love them more than I love God and more than you love any other member of the American Family. If you can do this, even if you may not have seen or found the kingdom of God or established the kingdom of God while on earth, you will enjoy the kingdom of God in the spirit world.
With a new resolution, I want you to go through the training course this time, so that with renewed strength you can go out to the battlefield in order to make the battle a victorious one-and, at the soonest possible date. Let us join in the pledge that we will fight through our way with a new resolution like that. We pledge that we will win this battle.

On Bringing Spiritual Children
Pray with tears for him (your spiritual child) to come. He'll hear and come. Miss him as a lost son. Plus and minus are attracted. Every object is drawn to a subject in the perfect action of give and take. You are the problem or starting point. You must become a perfect plus in order to find the perfect minus . . . Don't feel: "You are you and I am I." Be always missing him. Want to see and be with him all the time. Don't allow a barrier. We must try hard to do this. Pray hard. Miss those people and it will be as though an electric current passes from you to them.
On Raising Ourselves
Roughly divided there are three stages of our lives; childhood, adulthood and old age. Where is the peak or summit of each stage of your life? What height have you gained? There are ups and downs, but you must lift the peaks to get the truth of your life. If not, you will go down and get lost. You are born on the point your ancestors made, (high or low), the product of your ancestry. Every day is new. If you follow your own intention, you are apt to go down. To lift up, you must go in the reverse direction. What is the ultimate, highest standard? God is the highest point of our standard. The original mind longs to reach that point, so much effort must be made to lift ourselves up. Never dream of going the easy way. To go down hill is very easy. The way of faith and struggle -- of persecution and difficulty -- bring growth. We are responsible for the individual, the family, the nation and world, and we are faced with persecution and difficulty. There must come a great religion to indemnify the whole thing at one place. Be prepared. Master says we must be.
Three Seven Year Courses
Up until 1967 the dispensation was centered on Master and his family (1960-1967). The second seven year course is family member's course. So blessed families were separated and sent out to the front line. In 1980, twenty years will have passed since 1960. Those years represent the 2000 years of Christian history, By 1980 we are sure to see that the Satanic sovereignty will fall. We must follow him (Master) even when we don't understand.. By 1974 there must be six Centers in all states; 2000 members on mobile teams; and 6000 members in stable Centers.
On Overcoming
Believe the following:
1. Do not complain. Think of God existing in you. Think of Master. When you think of them, you cannot complain. Complaining and dissatisfaction caused the human fall.
2. There is nothing you cannot believe. Believe in God and in Master, because they are in the position of parents. Your parents will not fail to love you. Have trust.
3. Act in accordance with the will of God. Be ready to go the way of indemnity however hard it may be.
4. Find the way of love. How can you really meet God and your True Parents? You have been longing to meet them. Long to see each other and long to see God and our Master.
Can you do this? (Yes.) Then I am going to place you in the position where you have to complain; fall into disbelief, fail to over come; hate each other. Then, if you win (still believe, love, over come), you are going to be the victors. These are the gifts I am ready to give you. Overcome at the earliest possible date.
On Re-creation Through Love
The path of happiness begins from one point, one pair of parents. Before marriage, parents are most valuable, most important -- their love, Not because they gave you life, but because they gave love, they are so dear. Next, most important are our mates and our own children. These are the three most important, precious things in the world.
Without love we cannot re-create the world. We have to re-create our own selves as we lost the original self created by God. If you desire love, you must pour out everything. This is the law of re-creation. Love starts only from sacrifice. investing yourself, life, and everything.
We are not created for ourselves, but for our spouse. Men, don't be too proud of yourself, saying "I am born a man." You are born for the sake of others. You are nothing without a wife. Sacrifice for others to win happiness, love, the ideal world.
Who is going to save this nation? In America, many young people misuse love. Love is the greatest dictator. You must be bossed by the greatest love. The world must be re-created perfectly, so we must pour out everything. We must restore ourselves. Have you been doing everything possible for that? You must pray humbly to God for more strength.
Love and serve God more than I did. I imagine often that I am on my death bed. I imagine many will cry over me. What I want you to do is shout out to God, "I want to love you more than my Master did." If you really love me, I want you to love God more than I love him. Love your brothers and sisters. Love the Japanese, Korean and European members more than I love God -- more than you love other American members.
Let's become new Puritans of the new age. I sympathize with the Japanese members and with you. In my heart I want to sooth you, mak you comfortable and relaxed. My heart is aching. But I have to look to you to do the job. I look up to Father and pray for you. Remember, there is God -- there is Heaven -- who have gone through more difficulties. God cannot retreat. Remember that, even if you have to die, on the battlefield. If you resolved, the United States will be one nation under God, a new nation. Do not feel frustrated. Can you do it? Thank you.
