Training For Victory

What do you like better: to witness on the frontline or to study in the rear? (Witness!) Then I'm doing something bad to you. I want you to understand the situation. After sending out 90-odd missionaries to foreign lands and organizing the rest of the people into teams to work toward the goal of the Yankee Stadium campaign, I was compelled to force you on to the frontlines in order to strengthen you spiritually.

So, for six months' time there is a vacuum on the frontline. Several thousands of newcomers have been sacrificed. But in order to reorganize things, I had to pay this price. Instead of centralizing the system, using many people at headquarters, I decentralized the system so that those who are on the frontlines are directly connected to me.

I lay the tradition for us to put more stress on the people working in the frontline, than on those working in headquarters. From now on, unless you go through 120-day training, you are not going to meet the standard. Every member must go through this kind of training within two years' time after joining the movement.

After seeing those people work for at least three years and seeing what kind of results they bring in, we will really know their ability so that we can use them according to their strengths. In Korea and Japan, we did not reap very good crops because we did not establish this kind of system. In light of that, I established the 120-day training program in this nation. As far as the training system is concerned, we took the initiative in America. Members in Japan and Korea are going to follow our example.

The system I have in mind for the future is to have the new members go through witnessing experiences for one year, fundraising another year, and then come to Barrytown for 120-day training. We will send them out to work in the frontline, and after three years and a half, we will know their abilities and be able to use them properly. I will handpick those who have brought excellent results for study at the theological seminary. We are going to establish a university, too, in the future, so we might send those people to study in the graduate school.

Everyone must have a clear view of his purpose. You must know what that purpose really means, and you must be able to organize yourself to reach it. Our purpose is to establish the earthly Kingdom of God, to carry out the will of God. You must be able to explain what that means: in order to establish the Kingdom of God you must do this and that. You must be headed toward the goal and march forward. You must be able to organize yourself and pave the way.

To do that, we need ideas, manpower and finances. You have a clear goal ahead of you, but without increasing your own membership, you cannot organize your own system, yet in order for you to be able to go ahead until you attain the goal, you need money. So, those three elements are most needed. Then you can do things on behalf of the True Parents and in place of God. Within three years' time, I want to make our members into persons who have the clear goal of establishing the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and know how to attain that goal.

The same thing applies to me. All my life I struggled hard to have a clear goal -- to establish the Kingdom of God -- and in doing that, I had to lay the foundation. That could only be done by winning members and acquiring financial stability. With that clear goal in mind, I would not vacillate even in the prison camp. I would do things at the risk of my life. That's why you don't vacillate in the face of persecution and opposition. Only with those three elements prepared can you solidify your organization and have your organization take a position in society. The same thing is true with everything.

For instance, if there is unity between a husband and wife, your goal is set. But you must also have a clear picture of what it is. You must know the contents of what you are going to attain, and you need financial strength as well. In running a company, too, you must have a clear goal, you must have manpower, you must be able to explain the purpose to those people, and you must have financial strength.

The same thing is true with government. Government must have a policy -- its goal. They must have manpower to run the government; they must be able to lead the people by giving them a clear picture of the contents of what they are going to do, and they must have financial stability. The government must be able to explain the goal by being able to convince the Senators and Congressmen and all the people of the nation.

As a leader, if you are lacking in one of those areas, you will cause a minus there. If you have to get money from others, you may have to concede something. If you lack manpower, in order to get manpower you must sacrifice a portion of what you have and in that way you will cause a minus; what you have left will be less than what you want. If you don't know how to educate people about what you are going to do, then they will be wiser than you. Your area of domination will be lessened. That means, in our work, God's territory will be lessened with others occupying more area.

My philosophy is never to be indebted to anyone in any of the three elements. In explaining the Divine Principle, I must be foremost. If you need manpower I have the capability to win members. When you think of the earthly Kingdom of God, you immediately think of me because you have been taught by me. In raising money, too, you know that I have done it myself, and you want to learn from my example.

If I'm the person God really needs, then with God's approval I can accomplish anything as long as I have finances, people, and the policy. For instance, in order for God to exercise His power in our movement, if I am doing all three jobs, He just has to deal with me and can govern the whole thing through me. But if I am indebted -- if I have someone else earning the money, and someone else lecturing, and someone else explaining policy -- it means that God has to deal with all those people directly, making things more confusing.

This is opposed to the Principle of Creation. God originally was to reach the people through Adam. In American society, you have a decentralized policy. You think that to have a deep knowledge of one area is good, but if you are in a leadership position, you will need a broader knowledge. Those who have only a narrow area of knowledge can be good followers, but not good leaders.

I want you to be future leaders. It is no easy job to become a leader. You must know how to raise money and how to win members, but hitherto you have not been qualified for those things, so I'm going to recreate you. Originally, everything belonged to God. So, in place of Him, you must get hold of all things under you. Men were the creation of God; the ideal of creation was with God. No one taught Him how to create. But man fell before he was taught all of those things. If he had not fallen, he would have reached maturity with full knowledge and he would not have fallen.

Restoration means to be recreated. You and I will do the job of recreation in cooperation with each other. In order for me to be able to do that, I must know the goal, the principle of creation, and I must be able to explain it; I have to have people to do the job, and I have to have financial power. In recreating you, I have to make you into perfect persons. You are going to work in place of God, so you must have a goal and be able to explain it.

If you are indebted to other people, such as in finances, you cannot exercise power. Neither do you want to be indebted to other people in winning members. You must be able to educate people. I want you to be capable of doing all three things by yourself. That is the principle of recreation, for you to be able to do all those three things.

That's what Adam failed to do. God failed to do the job through Adam, and you must carry it out. On behalf of God, in place of Adam, you must recreate those things. You must understand the heart of God in restoring His children and all things because restoration is even more difficult than creation.

You must learn from my example. Even though I came to America empty handed, I have not been indebted to anyone in any of those three areas -- making money, gaining manpower, teaching the Divine Principle to people. In every area, I have done those things myself. Nevertheless, parents accuse me of grabbing their sons and daughters.

Did I snatch you away from your homes or did you come on your own? (Own!) You are working with a sense of purpose. I'm not forcing you to fundraise, I'm not forcing you to witness. Ultimately, you do all these things for your own sake. You are not doing them for God's sake; you are not doing them for my sake; or for the sake of the Unification Church, but ultimately for your sake. Without being able to raise money, you cannot be the leader of a group, and you want to be the leader. In order for you to be a qualified leader you must be able to witness and bring in members. In order to do that, you must be able to lecture.

You are all willing to take leadership over many people. I'm glad to have such leadership under me, fostered by my hand, and God will be glad, too. God is fond of that type of person. Any head of any organization would like to have that kind of leadership under them. Any individual would like to have that kind of leadership over him or her.

Germans, Japanese, Africans -- those who are living on earth -- those who have passed away -- all want that kind of leadership. In looking for your mates, too, wouldn't you want to have, for instance, a husband capable of making money, capable of winning men, capable of influencing people by his teaching? You don't want to have your mate to be the type of person who is wavering all the time, going zigzag on the way of life, but one who will go straight forward toward a clear goal.

So we come to the conclusion that Reverend Moon is ambitious to have the ultimate image of man built in you. What I'm going to do is to recreate you into persons whom kings and presidents would like, whom the people of your nation and the whole world -- every type of person in every walk of life -- would love to have as their leader. The world needs such persons. America needs such persons. Then you belong to God, and God will say... "I have the best men under me."

If all the men here are perfected like that, in the future, even though you are not millionaires, even though you are penniless, people who have daughters will come to you and say: "Please take my daughter as your wife." That's already what's happening. An established church minister looking at you would say to himself, "If only we had five of that kind of young person in my church!"

You are on the way to being made into that kind of person. You are not quite as perfect as what I dream of having you become, but they already envy us! How much more so would they become when you have been perfected? Any parents would want to have their children like that, any president would like to have their people like that, any dean of a college or president of a university would like to have students like that.

We are going to be ideal persons, loved and envied by everyone. Would you not think that I need that kind of person, too? How I differ from others is that, instead of asking someone else to make that kind of people and bring them to me, I always want to do it with my own hands. I have done more than anyone else to bring in members, money, and teach people a clear picture of what the will of God is. I want you to become so confident as to be able to say, "Even under the worst situation, I'm capable of making money while others cannot."

Next, we must be able to influence and win the hearts of people, so we can influence the village, city, state, and nation. If you are that capable, won't other people come under your leadership? You must bring it into reality. If we go on doing things like this, the whole world is going to be under our dominion.

You have seen it happen. Wherever I go, a wind arises. All New York's attention was drawn to me. The whole nation of America is stirred up by what we are doing, and the mass media is carrying articles about us. Even the opposition is, in a way, spreading news of our movement. So for the people in the satanic world, the Unification ideology is as fearful as that. In accordance with the Principle, God will be on our side, working through us.

If one of the three is lacking in you -- for instance, if you are incapable of raising money -- you are like a crippled person. You know what kind of person God would like to have working for Him: a person capable of restoring finances -- capable of restoring manpower -- capable of convincing people by way of education, and winning their hearts.

If you are determined to carry out those three things, even if I ordered not to fundraise, you would do it. If I told you not to witness to the people, you would say, "Oh, I have to, I have to!" I would be delighted. If I tell you not to go through training because you have had enough education, if you disobey my command I would not scold or punish you. Why is that? You can reply, "We are doing things in accordance with the principle of recreation!" If God tried to punish me, for doing these three things I would leave Him and go ahead. Later on I will find God following me!

Like a heartbeat, God will never cease to work in this world through you. So, you must never cease to work; without sleep, without food, you have to struggle on to win the people, win money, and develop the ability to educate people. Some of you may say, "We have enough money; we have already bought the Barrytown training center, we have established the theological seminary, we have bought several more buildings.

Why do we have to raise more money? But, until we occupy the whole world and restore the whole world to God, we will never cease to work. We will have to buy the whole land of America and the whole world! God wants to restore the whole world, and I'm in the position of His son; it's my duty, and I'm entitled to do that.

If you barely do things after having been ordered, that's not the way it should be. You must voluntarily go ahead, winning the hearts of the people, winning members, winning finances, and setting up tradition by educating people. You are doing those things for your own sake, so don't ever complain, saying your leader doesn't understand you, he won't give you time to sleep -- all those things.

You are doing your own work, and so much lies ahead of you. In proportion to the work you do, more things or men will belong to you. What you do here will be magnified and praised many thousands of times in spirit world. With that kind of people flourishing and growing in numbers, we will build the Kingdom of God in the soonest possible future.

Then are you ready to go fundraising? (Yes!)

Don't ever think that you are doing that for the Church, for me, or for God. You are ultimately doing it for yourself. You are indebted to God and me for your life, and you can say you have paid it back only after winning the whole world and returning it to God. God would want you to restore your own world. Then alone, God will rejoice over what you have done.

The whole world belonged to Adam, and you must cultivate yourself and perfect yourself in the position of Adam. Thus, in selling things don't think of flower-selling alone; whatever you look at belongs to you. You can sell the leaves of the trees, you can sell the soil. Whatever things we get freely, we can sell them to make money.

When I was out on the Atlantic Ocean, I dreamed of catching a whale, and then I could make a pile of money. With everything in the world connected with me, through me God will enjoy those things. Up to the present, has there ever been a single man who could have entertained that kind of thought? (No!)

But I think that way, and I put all my thoughts into practice to set a good example for you to follow. If you fail to carry out the same things as I have, you cannot be called real followers. If you say, "I cannot go on like this for three years," you are like thieves wanting to enjoy what others have reaped. I cannot raise thieves. I'm not willing to let thieves inherit all I have earned.

Would you like to be educated here? You learn here how to lecture, how to win people, and how to make money. I know that you will profit from this training. Because I'm confident of that, I'm willing to have my people come here and go through the training. Sometimes during the hot summer months, I felt like being sympathetic with you, but the next moment I thought that it is more than natural for you to have to go through that.

So I'm not sympathetic with you. God doesn't want persons with whom many people are sympathetic, and I don't want to have that kind of person under me. Whatever hardships you may go through, I must be harsher to you instead of being sympathetic with you. Would that be all right? (Yes!) That is logical, in light of the Principle. If you are supposed to do that, and if you are willing to do that, how can you complain and frown? In proportion to the opposition coming from other people, the more zeal you must pour into what you are doing.

It will take time for you to become that kind of person, but I want you to struggle on. You cannot build up that kind of personality in a day or two. But you must struggle on and on until you obtain the goal. If you find yourself a failure, why don't you ask other people and learn from them the secret of carrying this out.

I'm confident enough to go to the southern tip of Africa for instance, empty-handed. I know how to make money everywhere. If I find no way to earn money, all I need is a length of thread and a hook, and then I can fish. I may be able to capture a lion and sell it to a zoo and so make money that way. In three months' time I can be successful. I've trained myself that way.

Don't you think you need that kind of training? (Yes!) If you are unwilling to follow me, you may as well leave right now. I don't need that kind of person. But if you persevere and follow my example for 10 years, you will see what kind of person you become. University presidents and top-level people will envy you.

On the street, if you meet an old friend, don't be ashamed of yourself at having to sell flowers. Go up to him, initiate conversation, and when you are hungry, you can even tell him to buy you something to eat. You can drive your van full of flowers into the campus of your alma mater, you can visit the president, and while the students are outside playing, why don't you make a great celebration and sell your flowers. If you are eager to do that and put all your whole energy into it a miracle will happen: you will sell all the flowers in half an hour's time. After such a success, you will be proud of yourself.

With that kind of ambition and adventure, you can influence the world or a nation. I always think of extraordinary things, don't you think so? (Yes!) With that kind of ambition and confidence, I have stirred up the United States after two years' time here. That comes from my courage, boldness, and faith in God. Do you think that happened just after my arrival here?

I had already trained myself before coming. Those who train themselves and prepare for the days to come will be successful. Do you think the victory or failure is awaiting me in the future? (Victory!) I'm prepared to turn the whole nation of America upside down at once some day. Like when I cast the net and catch a huge amount of fish at a time. I can do it because I know what I'm going to do will be brought to God. I mean to train that kind of people.

You have learned today that you are training yourself to be workers for recreating the world. With the goal of Yankee Stadium approaching, we want manpower on the frontlines, so those who have already had experiences on the frontline, who are here in training, you are already experienced in fundraising and witnessing to the people, so 50 of you will be sent out by October 15th.

By sending 50 of the 100-day trainees to each state, a new tradition will be set up. Each state will have three qualified workers who are graduate trainees. After setting up this new system, the only remaining thing will be to bring more people to be ready for the Yankee Stadium crusade. This is a good chance for you to manifest the knowledge and ability you have accumulated during your training.

You need money in the field. You need to bring people. You need to educate the people under you. You will realize that you have become the real frontline for building the Kingdom of Heaven. Also you will test yourself. "Am I qualified? How much do I fulfill this heavenly responsibility?" You must confront the dividing line of whether you will be a leader and victor in this movement or be defeated. Two kinds of men and women will appear, even though you were all under Mr. Sudo's direction and had the same textbook, same food, were in the same place!

You may shed tears and cry out to God in your prayers, but you must overcome. If you long to see somebody, you have to cut that out temporarily. You may be fearful of teaching somebody or witnessing to somebody, but you have to overcome it! By this kind of experience you will know how True Parents have trodden the same course in the past 30 years, so you should have a taste of it.

You will vividly experience how many people must have betrayed our movement. I want you to accumulate experiences through which you will cultivate yourself. Even though you may be near starvation, you won't have to steal because you are trained how to make money. If you are almost kicked out of a household which you planned to convert, you will persevere until you bring that person to God! You will not retreat under persecution. To retreat would be the most shameful thing in the world for you. I want you to have this kind of courage when you go out.

You are the third group to be assigned. Since there are three stages of growth, I believe you will bring definite success. Your course will coincide with the third seven year course. Even though the first and second trainees have already gone out, I want you to be ahead of them in every way. You have to show the public and all the members in our movement that you are doing well, so that you can arouse their curiosity.

You are the luckiest, happiest people in the world because you are going to give something. Even though you have only one suit or one dress, you must be happy inside. If you yourself are a happy person, and you like what you are doing, everything surrounding you becomes happy. In this chaotic, satanic world, if you appear as a man or woman of this kind of thinking, that will be wonderful.

You should set aside a time when you are not working for a real quiet private time with God, through deep prayer. Then spirit world will show you what you are going to do, what your direction will be. Heavenly Father will let you know. How happy and lucky we should feel to have this kind of session with Heavenly Father.

You yourself are from the world of sin; you are just like a piece of junk. Just as I received help, spirit world is going to cooperate with you. It is an amazing, miraculous thing, you will find that you have a spiritual connection with the past, present, even the future. So you cannot behave like your own self.

If you were alone, you could behave any way you like. But with this historical connection behind you in this movement, if you misbehave, all your ancestors will accuse you. If you pray to God with all these things in mind, a bridge is formed between your spirit man and your ancestors. You are not alone; you are not just an individual.

You have to find the meaning of "You are not alone." As you are walking along, centering on the will of God, think of your True Parents. You will really feel your ancestors coming to you right there. When this happens you don't have to worry about what to say to people; they will cooperate with you and let you know how to speak.

One thing you have to keep in mind: do not abuse the heavenly dignity and prestige which are bestowed on you. You have to be careful in your language and actions, as if you were a bride or bridegroom in the wedding march. Be cautious, thankful, and keep a heavenly expression. Keep this in mind!

When you have a mirror, to get a reflection from the sun on the surface of the water you have to focus properly. Try to properly reflect the sunshine through you. You have to maintain that state of mind. Instead of complaining and arguing, keep a bright smile and an expression of thanks on your face. Always be bright! When you work on the street, when you speak to other people, when you teach somebody -- think who you are! Other people will be attracted to you if your mental condition is like that. You don't have to worry, you will be the victor!

Even when you are alone in your room, you must feel that you are a heavenly bride or bridegroom in the presence of Heavenly Father. All the saints and sages in heaven are escorting you, so you are not alone. During this private time in your room, when you tune yourself to this state of mind, suddenly Jesus Christ or True Parents might appear, talk to you, and inspire you.

You will feel your body become a holy temple right then and there. You will suddenly become a different person! When you lift up your hand, it will give off a shining light. Through this movement, you have a shortcut to that goal. If you live in this way. all your neighbors, all those with whom you associate will suddenly be curious, they will be attracted to you, before you have even taught the Divine Principle.

This is not just talking, this is a reality. If a heavenly bride goes out witnessing all the secular men in the world will immediately be attracted. "We've never seen such a beautiful rose." Vice versa, if a heavenly man goes out, all the beautiful women in the secular world will be attracted to you. So you must be careful!

Even though they are physically close to you, in teaching you must not go beyond the line. You must be like a mother or father to them. Never think of them as your future mate. Because of the Fall, the true Father and Mother were lost. You are definitely taking the mother's or father's role with them.

Someone of the opposite sex may come to your room and grab your hands. This kind of strange phenomenon happens; because you are a heavenly bride or heavenly bridegroom, they have to come to you. The same thing happened to the three persons involved in the Garden of Eden. Lucifer was attracted to Eve, who received God's love directly.

This temptation will come to you when you go out. You have to overcome it! You are not the second Eve or second Adam, but fallen Adam or Eve, so you have to control yourself. When Heavenly Father dwells in you, you become beautiful but that's not secular beauty.

Very soon, God will send you 12 souls. If you tune yourself to this state of spiritual preparation, spirit world will put 10 or 12 people under you. You have to spread the perfume of a heavenly bride or heavenly bridegroom. The Fall spread the perfume of a satanic bride and bridegroom. Your heavenly perfume will restore all mankind.

When you reach that stage of spirituality, I will appear to you and instruct you in every detail. This is the reason the Unification Church is the greatest religion. In the past, it sometimes took 21 or 40 years to reach this state of spiritual development. But when you come to the Unification Church, centering on our True Parents you can sometimes do it in just three weeks.

In three years, every Unification Church member should be able to experience this kind of spiritual phenomena in which you can see your True Parents. When you have this kind of a spiritual experience, then you will truly feel, "I really belong to heaven, as a true son or daughter of our True Parents and our Heavenly Father." If any atheistic Communist came to you, he would be unable to convert you.

You can create the atmosphere of a heavenly marriage even though you live in a cottage. No other place could be as holy. It even is better than a king's palace. Even though you may wear rags, you must think, "I am a heavenly bride or bridegroom." Even though you are wearing rags for clothing, if your mouth is speaking glorious things you project beauty.

What you say is like beautiful music. If you live that way, you can be the happiest person in the world. When you reach that stage, all the saints and sages will be with you; you will feel that even Heavenly Father is following you wherever you go, whatever you do. This place is far better than romance between a man and a woman.

Then you will realize how much value you have and how much value your True Parents have. You cannot exchange your True Parents for anything worldly. You will be happy in every cell of your body. Even if you are put in the desert somewhere and you cannot bathe for months, you will feel you are the luckiest person when you are in that spiritual state.

If you reach that kind of place you cannot betray it for money or secular love, or any political power. This does not come spontaneously; you have to work hard. You may get up out of your bed at midnight and suddenly just bow down in prayer, with appreciation. Even though you may have felt hungry, you just feel intoxicated and so you bow down with appreciation and thanksgiving in your heart. You will experience this. The Unification Church will introduce everybody to this experience, including you. So keep in mind all my instructions to you this afternoon; I want you to be victors.

The Value Of Knowing The Messiah

There are many people living in the world today, but if they are asked the question, "What view of life do you have, and what kind of road are you taking in your life?" there's no one who can really answer the question in the proper way.

The same applies to you here. What are you going to become? Can you answer that question? If your family is asked the same question, the family as a unit would have to answer "No." What will become of the world? Nobody knows. All the answers are "No" or "We don't know."

Let's speak of your whole life. Do you have a guaranteed life today? You cannot guarantee the successful hours of your day. You don't know what will happen in a few hours. You may be talking back and forth very happily, but, who knows, after a second or two your car may collide into another and you may be killed. In coming here, you don't know what might happen. When you left home you were anticipating something good, but some of you may have been reluctant to come here because it is so early and you want to rest longer.

Some of you, even though you were eager to hear me, afterwards you may be discontented and say, "Well, What did I learn from him?" Out of 1,000 questions you are asked, how many can you answer clearly? When you are hungry, you eat food with a good appetite, but you may have a stomach-ache the next moment, and it can even lead to death.

Male members, in your past life, you were looking forward to taking an ideal mate and you may have set your eyes on a very beautiful woman, but when you did marry someone she was the very person leading you to unhappiness and misery. There's no guarantee that anything will bring you happiness.

With that in mind, do you feel like thinking of things in your own terms? Do you feel like associating with the people around you? However vast the universe may be, don't you feel stalemated and confined? Are the things around you more good or sad? Do you really feel like living? You sing in the morning, and you enjoy food and conversation, but do you really feel like living in this kind of world?

"What kind of life am I going to lead?" -- That is a most grave and serious question. This question will never leave us until it is solved. Our ancestors asked the same question, in vain. People still grope in darkness. There are great persons -- the world's great teachers -- and you want to go to them to solve this question.

You ask what kind of a man Reverend Moon is. Can he solve the problem? I look the same as you. Then whom can you turn to for the answer? Where am I from, and where am I headed for? Those are the questions you cannot answer yourselves. And how to proceed on one's way is another question. Deep in your minds you are enthusiastically in search of someone who can guide you.

Roughly divided, there are people who know something, and those who don't. But are there more people who don't know, or who know? The majority of people are ignorant of life. Only a limited number of people know about human life. But even those, do they know precisely what life is like? (No.) Someone may be able to give you the goal, but in heading for the goal he may lead you zigzag and up and down, perhaps never reaching it.

Even among those who know, there are two kinds: Those who know because of the education they have acquired, and those who know out of intuition, who are taught by the spirit world. In human history, there have been many prophets and saints who could predict life to come. Besides those, there have been many philosophers, too. Which of the two have been leading the world: the prophets or the philosophers?

Do people like mysterious and wondrous things, or just normal things? You take delight in things mysterious and wondrous. You can find those qualities in the prophets and saints. So, very possibly, the prophets and saints are those who are going to lead the future world. We arrive at the conclusion that we of today are in search of prophets and saints rather than great thinkers and philosophers. History has witnessed many such things. In the past, prophets and saints have led nations, and the fate or destiny of the nation would depend on those people.

Why was it so and why is it still so? In the present world, you would very likely define things this way, but would things come out as you predicted? Are there more things in your life that didn't prove true, or more things that proved true? On the first day of the year you planned to do this and that, but towards the end of the year, do you find those things achieved by you or not?

How many people are there who can really say at the end of the year that they have carried out all he or she planned? Every time when you look back to your past you say, "Oh, I regret it. I have to do it all over again!"

With your bicentennial anniversary ahead, whom would you choose, if you could, to be the leader of this nation? If you were senators or congressmen, are you confident you could lead the people of the United States? There are many famous people in this nation, each one thinking and telling people that they love this country, love their state. But out of those who really love and think about the country and the states and meditate over how to lead those people.

Out of those people we can really elect good leaders of the future world. What if the majority reject that kind of person? We are college graduates, we are such and such. How can we be guided by those people without education, who are always thinking about the spirit world? Would you object to that? In general, the way of thinking of the people is like that.

The reason for my telling you this is that people in general are not satisfied with what we already possess. Even though you are just common people, you want to probe into the problems of life and determine where you are from and where you are headed so that you can have a secure life. Don't you think so? (Yes!) If you just walk blindly without knowing what could happen to you and what's happening around you, you are miserable.

You may as well close your eyes, not hear people, not smell anything, because those senses of yours wouldn't function properly. You cannot determine which is good and which is bad. So, can you do good things? What's the use of your doing good things? When you stop to think of all these things you feel so limited and you feel like the whole world is a prison camp.

You don't feel like sleeping, you don't feel like eating. In that case, wouldn't you want to go into the open air? So far, I have enumerated the conditions making us miserable. Are you really happy here? (Yes!) I don't see that you are confident of that. You are unhappy, miserable people, aren't you? (No!) You don't even know what is going to become of the Unification Church.

Do you really know what kind of a man Reverend Moon is? Who knows? I could even cheat you or deceive you. Why do you like me? If you had lost something because of me, you wouldn't like me, I'm sure. You have at least gained something out of me. Then, what must that be? You gained something in that you have learned something about life from me.

You cannot deny, what the world needs is not the philosopher, but the prophet. Was Communism the product of a philosopher or a prophet? (Philosopher!) There are many philosophers and thinkers in this world, with many followers, but can you really believe and trust those people? Can we really leave our life in their hands? (No!)

Would we hope the world as guided by the philosophers to pass away, and for the new world to come under the guidance of the prophets? (Yes!) You can find many great thinkers and philosophers on the school campuses, but not religious leaders. The prophets cannot be found on the college campuses. You must look for prophets in religious circles. But do people like religions better, or school? (School!)

That is a sign of destruction or peril. Do you find any hope on college campuses or in religious circles? (No.) If there is any hope still left somewhere, it is in the religious world. You will not turn to Harvard University, Yale, or any of the great universities for that, but you will turn to the religious world for that.

When we look at the religious leaders, particularly prophets, are they usually well-educated people or people without education? If you were the people in general, would you trust more those who are educated or those who are ignorant? (Educated!) If that is true with most people, we can say that it is very likely that the world is headed in the wrong direction.

Those who have guided human history in the past have without exception been prophets and saints. There's a Chinese character which has more meaning than your word "Saint." It stands for "The king over your ear and mouth." You are the king over your ears, over your eyes and mouth. Your mouth must be king-like. The king says important things and that's the end of that. He is very authoritative.

The second character means a person, and the first part denotes earth or soil. This means to drag the people. The final one means the sun. Sun means heaven, or days. So, that person can lead or guide both the earth and the heavens for many days. Without being able to do that, you cannot be called a saint. There's such a profundity of meaning there. The same thing applies to religion. Until you know something about a religion, you can not really evaluate the thing.

Then would you like philosophy or religion better? (Religion!) Why? (It talks about God.) When you say "Better," it means it is better than the other. You learn more out of one of those, and in religion you learn about God. You don't learn about man, but about God who is the source of man. In religion, they would rather have you not study or learn about men.

First of all, you should be learning to know God. The viewpoint there is different from the other one. For instance, say you have created a religion. Would God have anything to do with that religion? (No!) You could worship your fist and sing hymns to it. Even if you do everything there, but would God come to you? (No!) Can you still say religion is made by man? (No!) Then who made religion? (GOD!) If religion is what God made, you must always follow the instruction coming from God in that religion.

The religions made by men are not real religions, I should say. They are institutional, organized religions, maybe, but not real religions. There are many deceiving elements. When you say "God," what kind of God do you mean? There are many gods in the minds of the people -- cult gods, miscellaneous gods, evil gods, good gods. There are many gods.

What kind of god would you have in your religion? (Good!) But anyone in any religion would call their god a good one. In the democratic world, people say democracy is the best system. In the Communist world, people are confident that their ideology is the best one. Can there be two best ones? (No!) So, out of two, one is false.

Are there more people in the world who think Communism is the best thing, or who think democracy is best? (Democracy!) What about the young people? Do they set more hope in the Communistic world, or the democratic world -- more on Soviet Russia, or on America? Are there more young people in the world who set their hopes on Communist Russia, or on democratic America?

Are the Communist nations in the leading role at the UN, or the democratic nations? (Communist.) America is being pushed to the corner. You are confused. Which is right, which is wrong? More and more young people are saying, "I thought that democracy was the best system, but the contrary may be true." You are almost entering that stage. You don't discern which is good, which is bad; which is true, which is false. Do you really know?

Then who can define which is good and which is bad? Can Communism define it? Can we let democracy define it? (No!) Then who? (God!) But people don't know about God! How can they turn to God for the definition? Yes, you are right. God will define that, but through whom will He do that? He will define that through His prophet or through people in religious circles.

The sign in the Korean language standing for God means "one." Hanna is one, Nim is Master: Hanna Nim, One Lord, One Master. There will be no other Lord than God. You say God can be defined that way, but can you see God? In the latter days, there should come a great prophet who is able to discern which is good and which is bad, guiding the people in the right direction. He can analyze and judge the world, and lead the people to the goal God sets before us. Without those prophets coming out in the latter days, the world would be headed for peril.

Do you expect such a one to come in the latter days? Not only you but, unconsciously, all the people of the world, including the spirit world and God, all want such a one to appear. Would you just anticipate his coming, or are you sure that he is coming? (Sure!) Thanks to God, we have had the prediction that the Messiah was coming.

Is the Messiah a philosopher or a prophet? (Prophet!) He is king of all prophets. You have seen many leaders in the past, and many religions, and you seek such a prophet in religious circles. If there is one religion in which they really teach you how to meet the Messiah, and when and where the Messiah is coming, you will turn to it, won't you? (Yes!)

In the Bible, you sometimes get the impression that it is telling you that when the Messiah comes, he will be judge over all creation, and he will dominate the whole world. But on the other hand, you read that the Messiah will be looking for a bride. Both are true, but which will come first -- will he be here and then, be anxious to find his bride first, or to judge the world first?

He will be anxious to look for his bride. What is the definition of ' 'judgment?" How would he judge people? It is true that he will judge with truth, but what is truth? The truth is just a combination of words. What does the word "truth" mean? The real truth is man himself. What kind of man? (Perfect!)

The Messiah is the truth himself, or the truth incarnate. Didn't Jesus say "I am the way, the truth and the light?" He was the truth himself. True man is the truth. If Jesus came as the bridegroom, why did he have to look for a bride? The definition of a true man is not a man alone. The true man and true woman combined together makes a true man, and then alone with that standard of truth, they can judge the people -- male and female.

When you find your Messiah, would you say you resemble him 80 percent, or more, or less? (Less!) How much percent do you say you resemble him? Those who can say I resemble him 100 percent, hold up your hand. If you were President Ford, could you say, "I resemble the Messiah 100 percent?" (No!)

Who can you rely on? (The Messiah!) What about the Pope of Rome? Does he resemble the Messiah 100 percent? (No!) What about Billy Graham? (No!) Nobody knows, in fact, how much percentage of resemblance they have to God. Does the Pope himself know that? Does Billy Graham know that? (No!) Only the Messiah, when he comes, can judge you. God knows. The Messiah knows; no one else.

That is why all people are doomed to judgment. Judgment is nothing else but your being compared with the standard or measurement of divine law. That's what judgment is. So everyone is liable for judgment.

Then what is most important for people to learn: science, philosophy, about the world, about human relations: or, to study human beings and God? (GOD!) You should know that it is the most important thing for us to learn about God, and then about man. To deal with man, you should learn about the Messiah first. We can define a religion to be the true one when people there teach you about God, about man, and about the relationship between God and man.

Do your schools teach you that? (No!) Where do they teach you about God? (Barrytown.) You are looking for a true religion. What is true religion? That is the question. What did you say the truth meant? (Messiah.) The true religion is the group where they teach you to be true men, and where people are being changed to be good or true.

I am a controversial figure in this society. For instance, NBC has taped our group, while others are just interested in our group, concerned about us. I'm so famous that if a Korean asked a Korean living in this vicinity if he knows me, he would refer to me as that famous Sun Moon living in Tarry town. Without my being conscious of it, I become more and more famous here.

Am I famous in the good sense, or in a bad sense? (Bad!) But do you people think that I'm bad? Compared to the vast number of people who call me bad, you are just a small number of people! How can I be defined as "good?" Those people, even though they are vast in number, are criticizing me without seeing me, without once having met me. But we have met him, we have been living with him, we have known him for many months, many years.

You are confident to define me as good; even though the voices calling me infamous and things like that are loud, you are not stirred at all, you do not waver or vacillate. I too am confident and I just ignore what they say. I am indifferent to their clamor. Would you like people to oppose our movement or not? (No!) I have a different idea.

When we are opposed we become more and more famous in the soonest possible time. Bad rumors are disseminated faster. Bad rumors are good in two ways. By spreading out they will help us become famous faster. And, in the face of opposition, our members will become stronger and stronger. You are more determined to fight against that evil power and you become more united with me.

So my attitude is, come what may, I welcome the opposition. But, I want you to become so strong that even a small girl would be able to persuade other people by her acts and words that we are good people. The stronger the enemy is, you must be armed with stronger and more fearful weapons. Let them oppose you, and you will fight against and win over them. We are giants, never being defeated by others. So, would you like to have opposition come to you or not? (Yes!)

If you are a stranger in a remote village, it is natural for the dogs to bark at you. I'm a stranger here in America. This stranger is very strange in the eyes of the senators and congressmen. They have a headache over the young people in this nation, and they cannot even have their own sons and daughters obey them.

But this man from the Orient comes here and leads a group of elite young people who follow him wherever he goes, who will put into practice whatever they are instructed by him. It is the strangest thing happening in this nation. Again I must say, it is natural for the dogs to bark at me. I want all the villagers to come out to meet me, so that is the only way. If the dog doesn't bark, not one soul will come out to meet me.

I don't mind if they oppose me. The article which several papers carried about Wendy Helander was a good one, mostly on our side. If I were in their position, I would want to spread it in all newspapers, like what happened at the time we supported President Nixon. But, if I do that, the opposition will subside, and that will be the end of the fun.

If you are in the wrestling ring and there are voices from the side lines cheering you on or opposing you, if there are more people opposing you, you are more determined to win. That kind of match is also more sensational to watch. I like something sensational, so I welcome any opposition. If you are confident and have the capability to do a certain thing, then you don't fear opposition and hardship.

Do you love to be in the Unification Church? (Yes!) Why? (Exciting.) What do you have exciting and sensational here? I always push you hard, so you overwork yourself. Still do you like me? People would like to have me let you relax and eat rich food, be clad in good clothing, sleep well and be sheltered well. But what I'm doing is contrary to all those things.

Still, do you like to be here? (Yes!) You are crazy. (Yes!) I'm on the side of your parents when they say you are crazy people! Frankly speaking, you are crazy over something, isn't that true? (Yes!) What is good in this movement that you are crazy about? (God!) What makes it good is that we know the difference.

The way your parents think is self-centered, egocentric. But, we are thinking of God and mankind. If we are going to be left to the end of the latter days, so that we can step forward in the judgment, before God and the Messiah, you must know how to tread on the way, you must be shown the way. In our movement, we have those things. That's what makes us different.

In the judgment, you are in the court room. God is the judge, your lawyer is the Messiah, and Satan is the prosecutor. You are standing before all three. The prosecutor, Satan, will accuse you of your alleged crimes. But you have two on your side: the lawyer and God, so you are stronger. You are confident to win the case with God and the Messiah there as your parent.

Even though you may have to go through difficulties and hardships, you don't mind. The more opposition comes, the more zeal and enthusiasm will come to you. What you are afraid of in this movement, is that you are not going to be given enough work to do. Right? (Right.) Nobody will want to have you go fundraising, go witnessing, and you are afraid of that. Is that true? (Yes!) Why are you that way?

We are different people. In building our characters, we will do it ourselves. In building our families, in building our schools, in building the society we live in, in building our world -- we are going to do it ourselves. I have plenty of money, and I could live on my own just enjoying life... Why am I here? Why am I having you earn money? Which is the greatest school in America? Harvard?

We are going to establish a greater school than Harvard. The Empire State Building is not being used under the name of God, so we are going to buy it and use it under the name of God. If we are going to establish a school, we are going to make it the greatest; and, in establishing it, we will do it not in 10 years' time, but in three years or less because we are the sons and daughters of God.

For the dignity of the followers of the Messiah, we will do that. In the name of God, in the name of the Messiah who is to come, we will make it possible for us to build it in less than three years' time, even one year or less. If you say "in the soonest possible future," I can say you resemble me. That's why I love you.

I'm an enigma to the people of America. A man from the Orient, I came here empty-handed -- they know that -- but a little later, there's the rumor that I have bought Belvedere, and then East Garden, Barrytown, the Columbia University Club, and now we have bought a building seven times as big as the Columbia University Club! People are astounded.

We have established the theological seminary, and we are almost on the way to establishing a university. So far we have been chartering a jumbo plane, but we are going to buy one. Everything I do, I do in the name of God, not in the name of Reverend Moon. Do I idle away my time, sitting with folded hands just driving you hard to earn the money for that? (No!) I' m not any less active in doing things while you are on the street. Isn't that true? (Yes!)

In the name of God, I have in my past gone through many difficulties and hardships. I'm still doing that, and I will be doing that until all is over and finished. If you were in the position of Master of the Unification Church, how long could you endure all those problems and headaches arising around you. You could not last even two or three days.

In the face of all those difficulties, I don't become frustrated, but I feel more challenged every moment. Would you like a man like me as your husband? (Yes!) I'm so confident as to think that if I were a girl, I too would like to have that kind of man. I'm confident, and I'm proud of myself. I can do almost everything: athletic games, hunting, fishing -- anything.

Even in robbery, I would make a number one robber, but I wouldn't do that. Once I like to do something and set my hands on it, I will never let go until I bring success. That's why I'm entitled and qualified to lead you. I trained myself to be like that. When I came here, I was prepared for that. I meant to stir up the whole society of America with my bare hands. I would feel as though the whole world shakes at my step.

The axis of the whole earth will shake. That's what I feel, always. My life in the prison camp -- my untold, unbearable difficulties and hardships -- all those things have been training me to be the strongest one. With a good purpose ahead of me, all those miseries could be used as instruments to train me.

Now, equipped with those things, I have the sharpest weapon to fight against evil power. I want you to resemble me. Before your becoming like that, I must put you through hardships and difficulties. If you don't want to resemble me, you can leave right away.

The best and most important thing for us to learn is to learn about God and the Messiah first, before studying yourself. If you really know the Messiah and God, you have only to follow them to find yourself. If you take hold of the Messiah you have only to follow him wherever he goes. If he goes to a family, you will go there and you will be welcomed with him.

If he goes to a nation, you will follow him and you'll be welcomed there. If his destination is the end of the world, you will follow him, and you will be welcomed there. Even when you are in the spiritual world, after physical life, you will be welcomed there if you are with the Messiah -- from now through eternity.

The Messiah knows everything God does. The Messiah knows about you, about himself, about the family, society, nation, world and the whole cosmos. So, if you follow him, and if you are doing things under his instruction, you will come to know yourself, know your family, know your nation, the world and the whole cosmos.

If you follow him, it means you are in the same boat, and you will learn to know what kind of man he is; you will follow his example and you will feel great fun and great value in following him. Even though you are on the rough sea, with your boat tossing back and forth, still you will have fun and you will feel safe that you are going to the other coast.

On the troubled sea, the boat of course will toss about, and sometimes you won't understand what the Messiah is doing. But you are sure that at the end he will bring victory, so it is safe for you just to follow him. If you are in that position, how happy you must be. If you really have the Messiah and know him, all the rest of your problems are solved.

If you really meet the Messiah and follow him, then you come to understand his tactics. You come to have keen observation and a keen sense of what is good and what is bad, what is to come -- all those things. You become a miniature Messiah.

Are you in need of such a Messiah? (Yes!) Are you in need of America or of the Messiah? Would you take America for the Messiah, or the Messiah for America? (The Messiah for America!) Would you like to have the Messiah over the whole world? (Yes!)

It's all right if you forget everything else, but you must remember this. If you know God and know the Messiah, that's all you have to do. I have struggled hard, I have studied. But, the purpose for doing all those things was my finding God and the Messiah. Reverend Moon is not a mere philosopher. What am I? I'm in the category of prophet.

What I say will come true. That's why people watch what I'm doing; if I say big things they are scared. Are you like the worldly people, just watching to wait and see? (No!) Do you follow me from behind, or would you like to stand in the vanguard? (Front!) If you are going ahead of me, why don't you get hold of me and drag me behind you? Don't let me go, that's the knack of the thing.

You have learned a great deal in the Unification Church, haven't you: What God is like, what the Messiah is like, what the world is going to be like. Do you think the Unification Church will perish in the end, or break through this stalemated war? (Break through!) How and why? Is it because I am here, or you are here? (You!) I'm physically old, but I'm still young and energetic. That's why I can guide the young and energetic people. No other person than myself in the whole history of mankind can do my job.

Intermarriage between white people, yellow people, and black people, is the only way possible for us to make the world really into one, united whole. You know the blessedness of being members of the Unification Church, isn't that right? (Yes!) The question from now on is how to advance forward.

You must realize the blessedness of having been taught what individuals must be like, what families, societies, nations, and the world must be like, what God is like, and what the Messiah is like. I am not a philosopher, but I'm the greatest of all thinkers, with the necessary knowledge for leading the people. And I'm a most logical man.

In believing in something, I don't believe blindly. I want you to know that in the Unification Church we are not teaching you to just think in vague terms. What we teach here is scholarly in the sense of social science. In scientific research, they set up a hypothesis first, and then do the research. The result will prove the hypothesis.

What we teach in the Unification Church is more than that. I have grasped the clear picture of what God is, and what humanity is, and I'm letting you know bit by bit, by the experiment I have already gone through. I have the clear vision of what the whole world is going to be like. If I converse with philosophers, I probe into depths which they can never answer. I can talk about the spirit world, which those people cannot. I'm specialized in that field.

You can be likened to the people who have paved the road, straight and smooth, after having known God, known the Messiah, known life and the goal; you are prepared with a luxurious and comfortable Lincoln limousine, and you are about to start your way. Some of you have already learned how to manipulate the car. Some are more agile and comfortable in the seat, freely being able to drive the car. With all our knowledge, we are the happiest people in the world.

My topic this afternoon is "God and I." The people of the world, without exception, have some kind of hope and desire. They desire happiness, but always in a self-centered way. What is happiness? We must think it over. For single men and women, you think it may lie in having good mates. Can the mate of your dreams really bring you happiness from the beginning of your married life to the end?

In the beginning, you may be happy, but as you go along, there can be sickness, disappointment in each other, things like that. Your mate may die before you, leaving you bereaved. Can you be really happy in that situation? You might be even unhappier than when you first married him or her. You have seen many such examples among the people around you, haven't you? From this viewpoint, you can safely say that you cannot expect real happiness from those loved ones whom you once loved so dearly that you thought you were going to have real happiness ahead.

You may think that when you have your own children, you would be very happy, but the same thing applies -- who knows? -- your children may become unhappy, disabled, or sick. As children, sometimes you are contented and say you are the happiest ones in the whole world because there's harmony and happiness in your family; but who knows, a little later, your parents might separate.

Just a few days ago, four of our members were killed in a traffic accident. In the other car were a father and mother with their son, and both parents were killed in the collision. We don't know what kind of trip they were making. Maybe they were on the way to visit one of their friends when that happened. They may have thought they were the happiest people in the world, but they did not know what was ahead of them that very day. Seen from that viewpoint, we cannot safely say that what we enjoy now is real happiness.

You may sometimes think you are happy with having a great deal of knowledge. You may be successful in your worldly career with all that knowledge, but is it really truth? Suppose the outcome of a scholar's research could decide the life or death of his nation or the world. He would be a very serious person, but what if he has no money and no equipment for that research. How would he feel? Asleep or awake, even though he may eat or play around, his whole heart is concentrated on that one point. Is he happy or unhappy?

Let's think about power or position. What if you were the president, a senator or congressman. One act or one thought of yours could lead the nation into destruction and peril, or to happiness and success. When you have power, you might think you can do anything, but if your use of that power brings the nation into misery, would your love of power be considered a good thing?

Would money make you happy? (No!) Suppose you have $10,000 in your pockets; your mind would be preoccupied with that, and you could not relax. In the early days of our movement, sometimes one of the members would have to keep a large amount of money on him. I was told that that person could not sleep all through the night. He had to sit up all night, lest the money should be lost. So it is not money which makes you happy. When you compare someone from a poor family, and someone from a rich family, usually people think the one from the rich family must be happy. But it's not necessarily like that.

Then where does happiness lie, if knowledge, money, power, everything can just drift away. People want eternal happiness, absolute happiness, because all relative happiness can pass away with time and environment. Eternal happiness can only come from an eternal source. We have a short life span. If you were asked to name the three most important things, right away you would say: First, man; next comes the created world around you; then God.

All through our lives we have been looking for true happiness through men. But our fellow men alone cannot make us happy. We must have things around us. So, for most people, material wealth has been important. As you well know, human history has been a succession of wars for land or wealth. What is really yours is the question. Would what you possess right now bring you happiness? Would it be a real happiness which will last through eternity? What you enjoy now can disappear tomorrow. Similarly you want to have friends and people around you who will have lasting friendships with you. We are looking for happy people, too.

The Medieval Age was centered around the personage of the Pope, but religion became corrupt. When we entered the Renaissance period, people came to think only about man. Humanism denied and rejected God to find the value of man. Humanism, later on, was denied by a materialistic ideology, giving birth to Communism.

In the present period, people put more stress on material things; both God and men are denied. In the Communist world, in order for you to be a real Communist, trusted by all other Communists, you must be able to kill your father if he's against Communism, or lukewarm towards the Communist ideology. The link between parents and children is denied.

The source of happiness in their society lies in the Communist Party. Apart from the Party, you have no freedom, no happiness. The aim of the Communist Party is to secure hegemony over the whole world. But after they take over the whole world, what will happen? Can they guarantee human happiness?

Centered on the Party ideology, they will have united the whole world into one of terror. There could never be happiness in such a world. In the Communist world, they emphasize only the material aspects of life. The material cannot be connected with men and God in that ideology. Therefore, there can be no such thing as an absolute value under Communism. By our standard, we cannot find any happiness in their method.

Then, how can we find happiness? In America, they enjoy the abundance of material wealth. They have manpower. Can those two solve human problems? We have tried every means to bring happiness through those two things, and we have failed. We must re-evaluate the happiness men and material things can bring. God being the origin of material and men, we must be able to re-evaluate even God, because we don't know Him very well.

Is that the job of a certain nation, or would you think it is the job of everybody, including you? Is it the job of the whole world? (Yes.) Both nations and the world consist of individuals like you. Before your nation is happy, you yourselves want to be happy. Before the world is happy, you want to become happy yourself. You are the source of happiness. When happy individuals are assembled to form a nation, that nation will be a happy one. And the world will be a happy world.

God, of course, would want to have the whole world happy, but can He make the whole world happy at once? (No) With God, too, everything begins from one point. He must be contemplating how to make the happiest nation in the world. How do men think about things? Every one of you thinks of being happy yourself. Suppose there's a German boy; he wants to make the whole nation of Germany happy by his being happy. The same is true with an Italian, and with an American.

But when you are centered on your own self and on your own nation, can you bring real happiness to the world? (No!) The broader the scope is, the greater the value of happiness. If you think of happiness centering on a democratic world, or -- if you are a Communist -- centering on the Communist world, that is a little broader scope of thinking about happiness, since it transcends national boundaries.

In the democratic world, people have come to a dead-end, and the Communist world, too, is stalemated. People are seeking any way to bring happiness to the whole world. In that way, they are thinking of things as God does.

What is the goal of human happiness? What is the model? The goal must be to have the whole world enjoy happiness, transcending the boundary of ideologies such as democracy or Communism. Who can make the whole world happy? If there is any such person in the world, God would like to find him. All through history men have struggled hard to find real happiness, but they have failed because real happiness lies only in finding such happiness as God would have us find.

The whole universe is the common possession of man, not an individual possession. Everything in your possession is possessed in common with others. Even in dealing with other people, you cannot treat someone as your own. Nothing can be controlled or possessed by you, and you cannot exercise your free will over things. When you say you are Americans, it means you belong to America. You are possessed by something bigger than yourself.

If someone mistreats an American, it means they mistreat Americans as a whole, or the American nation. If someone loves an American it means he or she loves America itself, because the individual is not the individual alone, but the common possession of America as a whole. From this viewpoint, your sister is not your possession and your parents are not your possessions.

So, you cannot freely use or control those things or people. I want you to have the idea that you are of common possession so you cannot freely do things without thinking of the public. If you want to use someone or something, you must do so according to the public law, or common law. Under common law, you cannot violate any person's rights.

There must also be a definition of love which can be understood by everyone. In the family, between children and parents, there must be a law of love; between the husband and wife, too. Happiness cannot be brought about when you neglect one another and deny others' interests. Only by taking into consideration other people's interests can you bring real happiness which you can enjoy with everyone else.

So we come to the conclusion that ultimate happiness lies where everything is under common possession. We can safely say, when a thing is under the common possession of God, men and things, then it is ultimate. So ultimate happiness, real happiness is where things and men are under the common possession of God, men and things. And it must be a lasting relationship, not a temporary one. In order for you to become happy, try to find out what is held in common by men, God, and things.

Have you ever found any educational institution where they teach that? (No!) In the scholastic world, some deal with the material aspect of things, some the humanitarian aspect of things, and some God. In the political world, there's division between religion and politics. That is, neither of those fields could bring happiness.

Politics without God; religion without politics -- these cannot bring about real happiness. Only with all those things combined together and headed for combined happiness, can we reach lasting happiness. That is what we have that is different in the Unification Church.

God needs both men and things. Men need both God and things. Things need both God and men. But when we talk about the value of a thing, we can define that thing as most valuable which is not only needed by men, but also by God. When you think of a person, you must think of him as a man, with his material means and his way of thinking about God included.

Up to the present, people have thought of themselves in an utterly self-centered way, apart from God and their social environment. But, apart from both of these things, you are not really yourselves. The democratic world thinks of things as centered on men. The Communist world thinks of men as centered on economics, or things.

In neither world do they think of themselves as needing God. When you look closely into yourself, you will find that man is made both of spirit and flesh, mind and body. Your physical body belongs to the material world, while your mind belongs to the spirit side. Do you really understand that there are in you two powers: one belonging to the spirit side, and one belonging to the fleshly or material side?

There are two persons in you. Very possibly, the way your inner man or spiritual man thinks about things, and the way your physical man does, are different from each other. Is there unity and harmony between your mind and body? (No.) But are you struggling hard to unite these two into oneness? (Yes!) God abides in your spirit, and material is in your flesh, so, you are one with God and material combined.

Due to the Human Fall, there's a contradiction between your conscience and your fleshly side. Had it not been for the Fall of man, your fleshly side would obey your spiritual side. You must at all costs make those two into one. You must unite those two centered on a universal value. What must be the universal value, then? It means, when you rejoice, you do so with God and all things. When God rejoices, you will rejoice together with Him and with material things. When material things seem to rejoice, they do so with God and you. When God, man, and all things rejoice together, that is the ultimate and universal value.

Man's outward appearance can be divided into two, with each half a copy of the other. It's something like two halves put into one. Inside you, something similar to that happens: your mind and body are joined together in oneness. One is a visible thing, while the other is invisible. If you are more inclined to the spiritual side of things, you are apt to discard the material side.

When you are more inclined to the material side, it's the other way around. The best thing is for you not to be inclined to one side but to be well-balanced between the two. When you harmonize your spirit and body while living on earth, you will create the earthly Kingdom of God; after passing away to the next world, you will live in the heavenly Kingdom of God. You will have restored yourself.

In your mind, God's power is at war with the satanic power inherent in your physical body. Do you realize that? (Yes!) So you must know the wonder of your whole being. You are the microcosm of the whole universe; the essence of the spirit world and the essence of the material world are combined in you. When you say "I," you must be able to find in yourself the contracted form of the spirit world, including God, and the contracted form of the entire physical world.

You want to be the center of human society, too. Without being that kind of person, you can not find real happiness. If someone really represents God, man, and all things then God needs that person, the whole human society needs that person, and the things of creation need that person. If you were in God's position, would He not think that He's in need of such a person? (Yes.)

When you look at something, your eyes meet at one focus, and only when those foci are united can you see something. In hearing too, both your ears must grasp the same frequency in the sound or else you cannot hear well. Isn't that true? In breathing, too, if one of your nostrils is stuffed up, can you breathe well or smell well?

The view of personality we are teaching in Unification theology is that you must be someone needed by God, men and things. Only with all three combined can you build your real personality. And only when you find happiness possessed in common by all those things can you name it a real happiness, and a lasting one.

Theology up to the present has taught that God is high above us; we are only sinners, not entitled to meet Him, and there's a vast gap between God and man, between man and all things, and between God and things. God will remain almighty and good, and men will always remain sinners. That man can stand on the same level as God is the greatest of all discoveries.

Only when we view happiness with God's eyes, with men's eyes, and from the point of view of all things, can we find lasting happiness. With those three elements united, we can build a really valuable personality. There are people in this world who place more value on a diamond than on their own life.

On the other hand, there are people who value God far more than they do themselves. But without you would God mean anything, would things mean anything? So, only with God and all things combined in you, can you really define the value of God, man, and all things. We must be able to both look down on the earth and look up at the sky, at heaven.

Is happiness something ready-made, so that you can search for it? Or is it something you are creating? When you say you'll be happy when you have your mate, can you create that girl? (No!) If you say you are going to be happy when you have a big diamond, can you make the diamond? (No!) That means you cannot make happiness. We are compelled to say that happiness is something already there. Men and women already exist.

There's happiness everywhere, only it is not associated with you. Originally, there was happiness. But people have been groping in the darkness in search of happiness, in vain. What does that mean? They struggled hard looking for happiness because they knew that happiness existed somewhere. Then where do we find that happiness? It comes with your life. At the time you are born, you are endowed with happiness.

Then where does happiness come from? You are given birth by your parents, so it should come from your parents. What is the source of your parents' happiness? It is your grandparents. When you go far back, it comes from where? (God!) You are the product of God's love. So, when you are born here, you are born with the love of God, thus you are born with happiness. Your very life comes from God's love. Your happiness, too, should come from God. That love and happiness were endowed at your birth, but somehow you lost them! You have to look for them again and find them, by restoring God's love in you.

How is it that man has not been able to find God's love or happiness? It is because of the Human Fall. But for the Fall, that love from God, that happiness from the source of God, could have been yours upon your birth. So if you restore God in yourself, the real man inside you, and the real value of all things in yourself, love and happiness must abide in you. So, our ultimate goal is to receive the Messiah.

We must be able to restore all things and restore ourselves as real men, by recreating ourselves into Abel before the Fall. Then alone we can go to the Messiah. Abel is in the position of the offering to God. He represents all things. Abel is also in the position of Adam before the Fall. Adam before the Fall was united with God, God was in him and he was in God. Before the Fall, Adam represented God, all men, and all things. Then alone you can be in the sphere of divine love. That is the picture of the whole restoration of man. That can be applied on the individual, family, national, and worldwide levels.

Then what is the Messiah? What is he like? We say God needs the Messiah and men need the Messiah, but what is he like? He represents men, God, and all things, on the individual, family, nationwide, worldwide, and cosmic levels. His channel is open to reach anyone and everyone. Wherever he goes he's welcomed by everyone, even in the spirit world. That is the personality we want to build. The Messiah is that kind of person.

God both needs him and welcomes him. All of mankind welcomes him, and all things welcome him. Only satanic people wouldn't welcome him, because they are men of darkness, fallen men. Are there more fallen men in this world, or more men of God in this world? (Fallen.) Religions are struggling hard to restore more people to God's side.

You are still in need of the Messiah, so do you have real happiness yet? (No!) Only by locating the Messiah and connecting with him can you inherit what he has. That's the way you reach God. Adam, before his Fall, had things in common with God, and the Messiah also has things in common with God. Are you like that yet? (No!) You must be able to have not something, but all things in common with God.

The theological seminary students are proud of being enrolled there, and you study hard, but you must have something in your mind in studying. Theological knowledge alone won't give anything. Your heart and zeal towards God, and knowing how to apply those things in your everyday life -- all those things will determine what you are going to be. Can you restore yourself in the real sense if God is still far above you? When you are united with God, would anything pull you apart? (No!)

When you think of the relationship between God and you, you must be able to reject temptation coming from any direction by way of misdirected love. In reality, the whole world is under satanic dominion, so you must keep alert. Wherever you go, you must be sure that you will not be tempted by any satanic inducement. Rather, you must think of being the savior to all other people; so, you must be able to save those people from evil temptation.

Then you are entitled to be the second Messiah, or second savior. That's the qualification to be sons and daughters of God. Your attitude must be: "No evil power is entitled to seduce me. The whole world is in the position of the archangel. So, you are in the position to be dominated by me, but not to dominate me. I have God as my Father, so everything belonging to God is mine."

What belongs to Germany is mine, what belongs to America is mine -- can you say that? (Yes!) You must have that much confidence. That kind of "I" is entitled to be in the original world of God's dominion. Whenever you consider the love affairs prevailing in this world, you must tell yourself to exterminate all those things with your own hands.

Would God take delight in free sex? (No!) If you see that kind of thing being done in your neighborhood, in your relatives, in your family, you must be able to root it out. You must say that you will never even look at it. Or, if possible, you will exterminate that kind of thing. Wherever you go, you must be in the subject position. You must be proud of being the second Messiah to save the rest of the world from the dungeon of evil.

The first Messiah, Jesus, was crucified on the cross. You must ask yourself, "Can't I go through the suffering of the cross?" You must do greater things than Jesus did. You must be a greater person than Jesus was. If you are really entitled to be the sons and daughters of God, the whole world will be yours. Then, men will be yours, so, when you see someone trodden upon by satanic power, you must say, "This is mine. How can you invade my possession?"

You must feel that the whole universe would like to come under your dominion. Whenever you are out in nature, do you feel that all of nature wants to belong to you? Do you feel that the whole universe is dancing in joy to meet you? If you are spiritually attuned, you will see that and you will hear nature speak to you.

You can freely speak back and forth with spirit men. When you converse with spirit men, you will find that those people know what real happiness is, and they envy you because you have Godly love. They long to receive God's love. Before those people you will be utterly happy because you have divine love; you will want to smile from ear to ear.

You will feel like shouting at the top of your voice, "I'm the happiest person in the world!", and your voice will resound all through the cosmos. Your happiness will be contagious, making other people happy. When you become like that, you are entitled to be on the same level as God, enjoying God's happiness, man's happiness, and the happiness of all things combined in your happiness. Only in love can you be united with Him.

The subject this afternoon was "God and I." God and I become happy when we are united into one in divine love. We must be able to locate that love of the highest dimension. If you have had the experience of loving your husband or wife, that's nothing compared to the divine love you will feel. The love you have experienced was at best love on or under the level of the archangel. So you can just imagine how much more thrill and intoxication there would be, when you really feel the love of Adam before the fall, in union with God.

You will be intoxicated with divine love. You are drunk with the love of God, and it will last forever. (Laughter) When you miss some person there, you will miss him with your whole body, including all five senses of yours. You forget to sleep, to eat. In that case, the sensation of love is stronger than a thunderbolt. Every cell of yours will be stimulated by love. You will hear every cell shouting with joy.

If you experience that kind of love, you can never deny God. That is the standard of real happiness for mankind. In that case, you are on the same level with God, and you are the one who can make God happy for eternity. That means God cannot be happy without you. It is the right of every human being to locate such happiness and enjoy it.

You must love your nation more than any one else does. You must love your parents more than any other person would. In loving your brothers and sisters, relatives, and friends, you must love them more than anybody else. In loving nature, you must love it more than any other person would. Then they will belong to you. If you reach that realm, you will feel the mystery of life, you will be drunk with the love of God. How wonderful that must be.

The surest way to become like that is to know God. When you know that God has the heaviest burden on His shoulders, you must be able to shoulder the burden onto yourself. Then God will be working with you. When you are absorbed in that kind of thinking, you can look at nature and say, "I'm carrying the burden in place of God." When you look at men, you can tell yourself, "I have the burden of God on my shoulders."

You feel the right to do that, and you feel joy from that. In that case, however bitter a situation you are placed in, you will not complain but instead you will be joyous. If you become that kind of person, compare yourself with ordinary people. Between the two levels there's a vast gap. In that case, you can say that without me, things cannot rejoice. Without me, the church cannot become perfect.

Without me, the whole group -- the theological seminary -- nothing will become perfect. Then you can be confident of becoming the light of the world, shining out to every corner. If you become like that, somehow people are drawn to you, people miss you and long to be with you. Your goodness will be detected right from the first moment of meeting.

Those who see me in prayers, visions and dreams, hold up your hands. I want all of you to have that kind of experience. It is natural for all members to see me, either in visions or dreams, always teaching you what to do. That is what we have different here in this movement. In the past, in order for believers in Christ to see him in visions or dreams it took many years of prayerful life.

But in the Unification movement, if you pray hard that will happen within seven days' time, or within seven months at the longest. There are quite a few, I'm sure, who had already seen me before joining the movement. Why would this be so? Because divine love dominates the whole world, through eternity. In the spirit world, one year corresponds to thousands and millions of years. There's no difference between today and tomorrow. It transcends time and space.

After we have established a national foundation, after having restored a nation, daylight will come, like dawn after the nocturnal darkness. The whole world will be shining because of the light emitted from us. You must feel the blessedness of being Unification Church members. Don't let go of the chance. And where you are situated now is not the level where you are going to be.

You must go deeper and deeper, higher and higher. It is not by studying at the theological seminary that you acquire that. You must cultivate your inner-self, by way of prayers and practice. You must be able to love nature as though it were yours; love the building, love everything here as though it were yours. Love the people here as though they were your people. That's the way you should be training yourselves. Now that you have learned how to acquire real happiness, I want you to put it into practice in your everyday life.

I don't talk very much about spirit world. If I always talk about the spiritual world, it will be too much for you. After you build the best personalities with God, men and all things combined in you, then I can really let you know the whole nature of the spirit world. Even for me, it took my lifetime to investigate spirit world and bring everything there into light.

If I want to set up my antenna reaching spirit world and concentrate on discriminating between good and evil and what you have done in your past, I can pick you out. You must not judge me from my outward appearance, because I come down to your level to lead you up. The level you are ultimately going to be on will be the highest by God's standard.

I want you to cultivate in yourself the spiritual sense. Try to see me in your dreams and visions as many times as possible. After a hard day's work fundraising, maybe on your way back in the bus, you will doze off. Very possibly, you will see me in a vision. You'll be not quite asleep, but you will see me. By being near me you will feel what divine love is like.

When you are out on the street and people call you names or ignore you, you could sink deeply into despair and frustration. If, instead, you feel like consoling the heart of God, saying "How sad you must be!" you will immediately see me coming towards you with myriads of people following me. You will feel closer to me then than to your own physical parents, your brothers and sisters, teachers, or friends.

By feeling my love for you, you can feel God's love for you. In that way, you will feel and know that God is so near you, almost in you. Sin is something like a chronic disease, so you don't feel that tender a sentiment and love towards God. You want to restore that. If you have that feeling cultivated in you, you can almost predict what's going to happen each day -- who you are going to meet. That kind of person has no fear of death because he knows what level of spirit world he is headed for.

I told you all this in order to help you build your full personality, by combining God and all things in you, so that you can be restored to your original status before the Fall. Otherwise you cannot lead people, or become saviors of the people to make out of them persons like you. In the initial stage, if you find yourself not quite like that, you must be humble. You must always be serving others. If you have that attitude, you can open the way.

We must organize ourselves for the goal of Yankee Stadium. How we mobilize the people will determine our success. Up to now we have fought with rifles! Now we must fight with cannons! You must become the bullets fired from the cannon. How explosive can you be? You must be able to tear away the target. The targets are: established churches, universities and citizens.

Why is the first target the established churches? Because God's eyes are set on the established churches, aside from the Unification Church. Established churches have played an important role in the will of God. The churches must not be the churches of leaders but must be the churches of God. Churches do not belong to denominations, they belong to God.

Presently, churches do not belong to God but belong to men; we must reverse this pattern making them belong to God. The goal of the Unification Church is to change the established churches in such a way that the churches will belong to God and change the world. The Unification Church represents God in this battle; we must mobilize people as God would have us do. In our battle the best strategy is to move the hearts of the people and encourage them to change. Up to now, we have witnessed on a "1 to 1" base, but from now on we must witness on a "1 person to 1 church" base. If our target for each member is one church, then the whole city can be taken. All the people of N.Y. are our target, and we must put stress on that.

What is our power? Manpower. If the opponent is made up of 1,000 people and we have 10 it means that 1 person is responsible for 100. Common sense says that this is impossible, so what else can we do? We must influence the laymen by warming their hearts. Our strategy is the opposite of ordinary fighting. With that purpose ahead of us how will we employ the tactics? In established churches the church board can be moved when you tell them "If you go on like this, Communism will overpower you and you will be martyred by its hands." You can convince them by saying, "We cannot go on like this. There must be revolution or reformation in the Church." In New York you must influence the people to know that what we say is true; you must create public opinion in which people will talk about our group as the only group to change the world. By doing this, we can show the people that we can do the job.

Established churches are faced with despair so it will be natural that if they retreat they will be nothing.

Don't be boastful in words. Let the churches know that we do what we do for the will of God. You must be the explosives to absolve the churches. Father is the cannon and we are the bullets. Our armament is the Divine Principle, which is feared by the churches. By giving them the Divine Principle we can win them.

What is the tactic for universities?

The problem of campuses is Communism and corruption. Our armament is Victory Over Communism and Unification Thought. Armed with this, we will be stronger than they. The agony of the professors is how to influence and educate young people, changing them from being influenced by Communism. Before we influence the students, we want to educate the professors. If we can draw them to our side, then it's easier to influence students through them. We must move the school campuses.

How can we influence the masses?

We must fight until New York is absorbed by us. How to do this is the question. You must have good attitudes, be tidy, clean, etc. How we absorb the New York population is up to you. The first tactic to employ is the mass media. If people see what kind of people we are and then read the newspapers, they will begin to disbelieve the newspapers. You must arouse the attention of the people.

We can convince these people that we alone can do the job. Do we have the capability? Let them know that Reverend Moon has the capability. Having accomplished what we have up to now will be great proof to the people. Madison Square Garden was a miracle. New York has been fought against and we have won over them.

Before Madison Square Garden no one could believe we would do it. What we will do from now on will be to surprise people as to how we can influence the world. To Americans it is a miracle for a man like Reverend Moon to accomplish what he has and stir America the way he has. Another wonder is that people who would not obey their parents obey Reverend Moon.

People will wonder if Reverend Moon is a religious man, a politician, or an economist because he is doing all these things. Ideally, religious leaders should guide politicians and politicians should guide economists.

But today there is a great rupture between these three. That is why a religious leader must affect and unite all three areas. They must be driven into God's system. In the future the greatest politicians and economists will be our church members.

We must not be ordinary Christians; we must bring all areas into God's will. I will train leaders to not just be one type of leader but to lead in all three areas. For the sake of justice and for the sake of righteousness, there is nothing for you to fear. In everything I want you to be better than other people even if it's just a very small percentage. If everyone is exhausted but you are just a little less exhausted and do just a little more, then you are the victor. The more difficult things may be, you must invest more of yourself. You must risk your life in doing things and then they will be solved. If you do things until you succeed then eventually you will succeed. Father needs brave Unification Church members. 

The Way We Must Tread

Mankind has been seeking happiness. There are three kinds of people: normal or average people, the great thinkers, and religious people. From these three kinds of people, where can we expect the answers to come? It has to be from either the great thinkers or the religious people. But the great thinkers have been trying and they have never found the solution. Where can mankind turn? We need a special revolution or something extraordinary like that.

Everything we do has a global effect. No man, society or nation has its own destiny; we have a global destiny. We need a world solution for all mankind, so we have to look on the worldwide scale. Right now mankind is in darkness and despair. We are at a junction in human history and must examine our lives and beliefs. If there is a good man, this must be the time when he will come forth. But if we look at man in general, people are not serious enough to seek the ultimate way of life or understanding of God. This lack of seriousness is a very great problem.

Then where do we get the solution? The man of truth must be internationally minded. That man must be the man of all people; it doesn't matter what color or race he is. Rather, he must have an eternal ideal. That person must be liked by people of the past, present and future generations -- a man of all times, all eras, and all seasons. This is the solution for the world. That person has to give truth and light; it can only come from a religious life. The man of all eras must be anointed by God in heaven. If one nation is sacrificed to God, then that nation will turn out to be the greatest nation for God.

Where can we find the true peace, freedom, and ideal? The ultimate union of freedom and peace will be found with the anointed one of God, the Messiah. Meeting the Messiah, you meet God in person. The ideal happiness will originate in God when the three become one. Those three are God, the Messiah, and you.

What kind of joy can you get from a teacher? You get horizontal joy; but it is temporal and will eventually be washed away. The teacher of eternity is the Messiah, who brings a relationship which will never tarnish. Only by relating to the Messiah can we have eternal relationships. The Messiah is an eternal teacher. The Messiah brings true relationships between husband and wife, and brothers and sisters.

The Messiah is the man of all time. If you know this kind of person, if you grab him, you can never let go. We cannot just think this way, we must live it to the depths of our bones. If one arm is cut off, then we should grab with the other arm. And if both arms are cut off, we should grab with our legs. If our legs are cut off, we should stick to this man with our belly.

Everything begins with thought. You must have faith and conviction that nothing can stop you from accomplishing the will of God. The Messiah is given to the world. He seeks for those who will fight with him and be his co-workers and co-creators in establishing the new world. So we should have the attitude: "I will be the one to love more those people who have been rejected by mankind." We must embrace one another, not kicking at each other, breaking down barriers that have existed throughout history.

If you found the fork that Jesus used, that fork would have more value than all of the U.S. Just think, if you found a man of God in front of you, how blessed you would be. What is a good man or true man? He does all the things we do. He eats and sleeps. He hears, feels, thinks, just as we do. But everything he does is for the purpose of God. The role of the Messiah is as an ordinary man, not a superman. When this man comes, he will direct you how to become a perfect man for God. When you walk, you must know that the universe is following behind you when you are a man of God. When you turn, the universe turns. God wants a cosmic son or daughter, not just an American son or daughter. Perfection comes when you find the Messiah and he puts his signature on you so that you become an anointed one.

We cannot have national boundaries. Our nation is the world. My hometown is this earth. Would you like the U.S. to flourish or the world to flourish?

Our task is to meet the Messiah. Just because you see the Messiah does not mean that you have met him yet. Have you met the Messiah? You are trying to meet him. Perfection comes not from you but when you meet the Messiah and God and you truly come under the True Parents' care.

Only through the Messiah and God can you become perfect and have a perfect family, society, nation and world. Without having the Messiah and God, you will never have any answers to building a new world. What you see and think must be what God and the Messiah see and think.

The black dot in the center of your eye (pupil) represents God, the blue part (iris) represents the Messiah, and the white part represents yourself. They all move and work together.

Your thoughts and actions must be found in the heart of God. We must pierce right through the heart of God. From this you will learn love for all mankind. What would you like to possess? God. You want to possess the essence of God, which is the heart of love. So God needs someone to love and to be loved by.

Where you find love, that is where you want to stay. The Messiah to you is the ideal parent, the ideal husband, brother, teacher. Our goal is to reach the heart of God. We must resemble him. You should ask God to let you be responsible for the world -- tell God to relax and take it easy, you'll finish the job. If you become that kind of person, God will love you so much. You must think: "All by myself I can fill Yankee Stadium." We need that kind of determination. 

A Needed Man

My topic this afternoon is "A Needed Man." Here we have men and women seated separately. For men, women are necessary; for women, men are necessary. But in a world where men and women live together, who is needed most is the question we must ask.

In your family, too, there's someone who is the most needed one of all. In your village there must be someone most needed, and in your nation, too, there must be someone most needed by the people. What kind of people are the most needed?

In any society, the most needed person is the person who is sacrificial and who lives for the sake of other people. Isn't that true? (Yes.) This has been true throughout history. A good man is the person most needed by all people. Where do you find these most-needed people? When you look around, if you find a person who is living for the sake of the public, for the sake of the whole, or for the sake of other people, you can define him as good or as a needed person.

History shows that in the past saints and sacred men have without exception been those who lived for the sake of other people: Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Confucius, Buddha -- all these people lived their lives for the sake of others. Do you yourselves want to be persons like them? (Yes.)

You want to be educated in colleges and universities. But why do you want to be educated? You want to live a life where you are needed everywhere. You want to be good persons, and who are good persons? Good persons are those who are needed by all other people. When you think you are good people or needed people, you are proud of yourself, because you find examples in sacred and respected men like Jesus or Buddha or Mohammed, and that's the way you want to be.

But have you been educated for that purpose? (No.) Then there must be something wrong. Perhaps the educational system was wrong or you yourselves were wrong. Up to the present, what you were dreaming of was that after graduation you would be successful in a worldly career and you would make more money than others. Everything was centered on you, and it was entirely the wrong idea.

Seen from this standpoint, we must reevaluate our educational system. Once we understand that we've had a misguided education, then on the individual, family, national and worldwide levels we want to right the wrongs and remake the educational system so that it will apply to our system. We want to produce persons needed by everyone else. However hard you may struggle in educating yourselves, if you don't practice living for other people, you will have been educated in vain.

We have many good-looking young ladies here. Don't you want to have good mates in the future? (Yes.) When you say you want a good husband, you don't mean that he must be a doctor or he must have a masters degree or something like that, but immediately you think of a person who is going to live entirely for you, don't you? (Yes.) Even though he may be only a graduate of primary school, if he is going to live entirely for you, you would rather take him than the one with the doctorate degree who would not live for you.

Pure love comes from the person who lives for his or her own spouse. Here, too, we have many members who are not quite college graduates, and compared to the standard of people in the world, they may look like nothing to you. But what they have different from other people is that they have the lofty ideal of living for the sake of their family, their nation, the whole world, and finally for God. Only after seeing them putting the ideal into practice can we say that they are good.

You must not only have an ideal, but you must put whatever you are taught into practice. Then you are going to be good persons and needed persons. Do you want to be needed by your village, needed by your nation, or needed by the whole world? (World.) If you really mean what you say, then you are needed everywhere. Your parents need you, your brothers and sisters need you, your relatives, your friends, your nation and the whole world needs you.

If the Unification Church can produce many of this kind of people, other people will say our movement is good. Otherwise we are going to be called bad. The key to your future and the future of our movement is your becoming this kind of person. Then, is the Unification Church a good movement or a bad one? (Good!) Why? Because here we teach an ideal and teach people how to put the ideal into practice: to live for the sake of other people.

When you are trained here, you don't dream of a flowery future, but rather of a life of sacrifice for the sake of other people. You want to be the fertilizer for mankind to grow wholesomely. If I teach you to be loyal and pious sons and daughters to your parents, your parents will be overjoyed to have you back, I know.

But despite that I'm driving you out into the world to live a sacrificial life for the whole country, for the whole of mankind, because I know corruption is prevailing in the American society. So after saving America, which naturally includes your families, you are going to be devoted sons and daughters to your own parents. Among American youth you cannot find anyone who is ready to live for the sake of other people or for the sake of the country. So we are needed that much more in this nation.

There have been many religions and many nations. Those religions have not taught people to live for others, but only for the benefit of that particular denomination or religious sect. Nations have been educating their young people to live for the sake of the nation at best, and not for the sake of the world.

When I'm away Mr. Salonen will educate you. But if I' m here I push you harshly. If I give you a very heavy responsibility and you almost collapse, I will put on your shoulders a heavier responsibility. That's the way I do things. Would you collapse helplessly, or struggle to lift up and carry out your mission? (Struggle.)

You must be sympathetic with me, and realize how difficult it is for me to push you so hard. I know some of you are complaining, some of you are frowning, some of you are ready to escape from me. I know -- and everyone else knows -- that I'm doing this not for the sake of myself but for the sake of America and the world, and finally, for God.

Many people say that I'm a rich man. But when I bought Barrytown, did I buy it for myself? (No.) I just plan and put it into practice. Many people say I'm brainwashing you and I'm utilizing you for my own purpose. Far from it! Barrytown is needed by the Unification Church and by America. I bought it for the sake of this nation.

People say I'm living in a luxurious house, East Garden, but I did not buy it with money earned in America. I brought the money here, but when I go back to Korea I cannot take the house with me. So I'm not conscience-stricken whatever things may be said. I am confident I am a most conscientious man, and that I'm needed here more than anyone else, including the top-level policy makers of the USA or governors and other officials.

"Wait and see who's the most successful," I always say. American people are intelligent and before long they will support me. They will know that they can't lose by supporting me. Just the other day I spent hours with you, until 2:30 in the morning. I do this not for my own sake but for the sake of you people and for America.

During the hot summer months everyone goes on vacation and I'd like to do that, too, but I remain here with you because I want to educate you. Some of you may think, "Oh, we are in the vacation season; why doesn't Master let us relax once in a while?" Compared to what other people in the outside world do -- going on vacation and things like that -- which is better: to be here and get trained or to go on vacation? (Barrytown!) My plan is to make out of you persons whom I can use for the sake of the whole of mankind.

If the leader of any religion or nation teaches the people to live for the sake of other people, that religion or nation is going to be the foremost one in the world. Let us take an example. Suppose there are two people of equal intelligence and with the same capabilities. One lives and works for the sake of other people. The other does things for the sake of himself. In the long run which of the two will be needed most by other people?

Even though they have equal capabilities, if one of the two lives for the sake of other people, then he will attain subjectivity over others. In your family life, too, if anyone in your family lives for the sake of the rest of the family, then he will be the center of the family. In any country, a loyal subject can be defined as that person who lives for the sake of the leader and country.

In the Unification Family, too, those who are most needed are those who live for the sake of the church and not for the sake of themselves. There may be some people in our family who dream of utilizing this movement for their own good. We need the first kind of people. In society, too, those who live for the sake of other people are always those who are needed.

Then, what kind of people are needed by God? The same thing applies. Would you want to be persons needed by the United States of America, by the world, or by God? (By God!) You must cling to just one of the three and let the others go, at first. More than anything else you want to be a person needed by God, don't you?

If you want to live for the sake of America and God calls you to work for the sake of the whole world, you must abandon America. If you are ready to work for the sake of the world and God calls you and tells you to follow Him alone, what would you do? (Follow.) You want to be a person needed by America, but when you want to be a person needed by the world you can even abandon America. And if you find yourself most needed by God, you can even abandon the world and follow Him.

Through religion God is teaching you how to follow Him first, without minding the world and your nation. Only after becoming entirely one with God can you live your life for the sake of the nation and the world. Without your being united with God, what you have done on the level of the nation and the world will have no meaning in God's sight.

First of all, you must return to God and be united with Him. Before being a citizen of America, you must become a son of God. Before being able to dominate mankind, you must know how to be dominated by God, to be the sons and daughters of God. Due to the human fall you lost this relationship to God, so what you must restore first of all is being sons and daughters to Him.

You must construct a family with God as your father, and then you will recover your world and nation and family. That is what the order should be. You are living or fighting for your country and for the whole of mankind, but if you lack unity with God, in the end what you have done will have no connection with God's providence.

You are here to go through training. Out on the frontline everyone is busy witnessing to the people, and there is a certain harm to our movement in my calling you here. Why am I training you? For you to find God. Where can you find God? You can find God by knowing His work, how He has proceeded with His providence in the world.

We must know how God has been successful or sometimes unsuccessful, and we must be joyful or sorrowful because of the successes or failures of our forefathers. We are here to be sympathetic with God, to console His heart and to pledge before Him that we are going to be devoted sons and daughters to carry out the mission left unaccomplished by our predecessors.

Then alone can we really find God and know Him and live with Him. Do you really realize that there is God? (Yes.) How does He exist? Do you feel the presence of God in the physical sense as you would miss your food and things like that in your everyday life? It's only a vague concept in your brain.

You must feel the presence of God as you would feel your own brother or sister by your side. To really understand your parents you must know Him and feel Him. Suppose someone explains to you that your parents are not your own parents, and let's suppose he explains it to you for hours, days, months and years. But you are not convinced that these are not your parents, because you have deep attachment for them.

The nation may be mobilized -- the whole of mankind may be mobilized to explain to you that your parents are not your own. Would that do anything? But suppose you are sons and daughters of God? Then you must really feel the presence of God as you would your own parents. If you don't have that feeling, you cannot really say that you have found Him. Are you qualified to be His sons without knowing His presence, without knowing who He is and what He is? You must know Him through experience.

Where do you find God -- in your living room or on the frontline? Even though you may only have a vague concept of God in your mind, if you go out witnessing to the people, testifying to God and teaching the truth to them in the face of difficulties and persecution, that is the best place for you to see Him and feel Him.

God is the Being most needed in the whole world because He lives for the sake of other people. If you want to be recognized and needed by God, you must live for the sake of God and for the sake of humanity. Otherwise, you cannot recognize Him or have Him or find Him. It is natural for sons and daughters to resemble their parents. If you are sons and daughters to God, you must resemble God. Don't trust men, but only God.

I'm here in the United States to stir up the whole nation. Can I do that all by myself? (No.) Before commencing any of my work, I must think over what God would do for the world and put myself in the position of God. God is grieved by the corruption prevailing in the Christian world, and if I were in God's position I would want to restore it.

There's no distinction in God's sight between all the denominations in the Christian world. There have been fights among the denominations and religious sects. That's why all the churches are empty and all the young people are leaving. If the established churches are corrupt, God would want us to restore them. I intend to do that.

We have members from many religious backgrounds and those from hippie backgrounds. All those people are mixed here. But are we being united into one? (Yes.) Are you confident that we are going to give birth to a new church of higher value than the established churches? (Yes.) That is God's will. That is what God needs most and we are going to do it, for the sake of God and for the sake of mankind.

In that case we are most needed by God. Once I'm resolved to do that, it will surely be realized because God is on our side, working for us. Before Madison Square Garden did you think that it would be such a success? But now before Yankee Stadium you are full of confidence, aren't you? (Yes.) It is because you followed my instructions and what I said came true. Now you can trust me and be confident.

Since I made the 1.2 million rally successful, compared to that just 200,000 will be too small a number. But people outside, can they believe it? (No.) Then what makes it possible for me to do that? I, as the leader, will always stand in the vanguard of others. I will open the way, always causing problems and questions.

I will instruct you to put up posters and have the newspapers carry articles about us. All I have done has been for the sake of America, and history will be the witness. I never dream of becoming famous myself. I'm doing this for the sake of God, so God will work with me and so it is natural for me to become famous in America or anywhere else. I'm confident I'm a person most needed by God.

What does God need most in America? We said a church such as ours. What would God need second most in America? He wants to have someone prevent the Communist threat. America is the final target of Communist invasion. Both Soviet Russia and Red China -- and not only those two but North Korea and all the satellite countries -- have their sights set on America as the final target.

Who can defend America from the Communist invasion? (We can.) If America collapses before Communism, there's no free world left. I came to America because I wanted to be responsible for preventing that. If America cannot remain a democratic and free nation, if it cannot carry out its mission as the leading nation of the world, then I must revive America to come back to its original position. Otherwise the world of peace and freedom cannot be realized.

That's what America needs most, that's what the whole world needs. So I was confident that God would be on my side, working with me. Wherever I am, even though I may stand in the frontline, God will be there with me. You don't really feel the threat of Communism so much as I do?

I'm under the threat of Communist attack at almost any moment. After my success in the rally in Korea, the broadcast coming from North Korea said Reverend Moon was the formidable enemy, fiercer and more abhorrent than the Park regime.

I named two things God would have us do. First, to revive the Christian churches to their original position, and secondly to prevent a Communist invasion. I must add one more thing: the corruption of youth must also be corrected. You know how corrupted the American youth are. You have been enjoying material wealth. You have been nourished with rich food. But that's not good -- that's just the animal life.

Unless you eradicate the corruption among youth, you cannot be revived. The young people here are of a different breed. You left your own homes, you left your old society, and you are at least trying to live for the sake of other people, your nation and the world. You want to date sometimes and you want to be fed with rich foods, but you discard and abandon the old ways of life.

Is there anyone among the Unification Church members who wants to marry at his own will? (No.) Who has made you like that? Don't say that I have made you into this kind of person, but that God has. Based on biblical teaching and on what God would have us do, I have taught you and molded you into this kind of person.

In America, married couples even exchange their wives and husbands, and in that way they think that they are living for the sake of other people. We must revolutionize that kind of thinking in this nation. In the Unification Church we are strict in teaching our young people; we know that's not the way we should behave. Those who have been raised under either a stepmother or stepfather, will you please raise your hands? Quite a number. Would you really want to live under stepparents?

Your parents did not fulfill their portion of responsibility for you, and out of the disharmony and rupture you had to leave your families and become hippies and things like that. We must reform American families because they are not the way they should be. In this way, too, the Unification Church is most needed in this nation. You must have full confidence that but for our group America cannot be saved, and but for our movement the world cannot be saved.

Do you really believe that? That should not be a vague belief but a strong conviction. From this point of view, are we the enemies of the established churches? (No.) Are we doing something wrong to them? But those people look on us as their enemies. There's a contradiction there, which we must eradicate.

After the NBC-TV program, what do Americans think of me? I'm here in the United States working for this nation, but I'm reviled. It's your responsibility; you must feel that. You must be braver to fight for righteousness. We must break through and explode the enemy stronghold.

Up to the present, what I have been most agonized over is that I did not have a foothold. Even without God's help I have a good brain, I'm confident of that. I'm versatile, good at everything, but without a foundation to work on I have been helpless. We need a large amount of money to save America, other nations and the whole world. In order to earn money we need manpower. What we need is more manpower.

We must be able to educate and mobilize people in the most organized way. We must be able to mobilize manpower in the right way. We are going to do what the nation of America and American teachers have not been able to do. We are going to unite the young people of the world, transcendent of nationalities, and then mobilize them to the frontline to save the whole world.

That kind of group is needed by God, needed by the world, and needed by America, too. That's the way we are most needed by God, and that's what we are aiming at: to make ourselves into such a group. I want to make out of each one of you a person who will lead tens and hundreds and thousands of people. I want you to be persons who can make money, if needed.

I want to make out of you persons who can lead other people. In the near future I will make congressmen and senators out of you. We will pour out our efforts in that line. And in the future if you are going to be the policymakers, the whole power of the nation can be used to our direction. Through political power we can educate the people.

I have many plans to educate you according to your aptitude. I've gone through a bit of everything in my life. I have experienced being a beggar. I have been a good laborer. I have been a farmer. Though I say I have been a farmer, you cannot imagine what the life of a farmer is like in Korea. When I go out to sea I'm a good fisherman. Even though I am penniless, wherever I go I can sustain myself. For training, I brought some Unification Church young people on board the boat; most of them threw up or just got exhausted.

In the future we are going to dominate the ocean. In America now people don't like life on a ship's crew because they are away for several months at a time and their wives and friends don't like that. If you go on disliking being at sea who can dominate the ocean? If this continues, several years from now other nations will have hegemony over the oceans.

If I am to make the Unification young people crews on the boat, their wives must not miss them even if they don't come back for a year. We cannot bring the whole world to God without dominating the ocean. When I bought the boat I did not buy it as an indulgence. Those who cannot swim, beginning right at this moment you must learn how to swim.

You have to go through a lot of training and discipline here in the Unification Church. I want you to go through a bit of everything I myself have gone through. Suppose I order you to sit up the whole night studying, what would you do? (Study.) I will train you up until the age of 30. In 20 years' time, I will make out of you those persons most needed by America.

By that time I will have seen many people fall away or become exhausted. If some of you say, "Well, though all the rest will fall away, I will never leave you," hold up your hands. I'm a man of iron will, in a way very stubborn, but would the female members marry a person like me as their mate? (Yes!) I am going to train these men like myself so that you will love them.

In a way I am a man of the hardness of iron and the strength of a giant. Do I look like a man who has gone through such hardships and difficulties? I've never frowned at my own destiny. Born as a man, I thought I was going to be a banner-holder or torch-bearer for the rest of the world, leading the world in the vanguard of others. Would you like to be one like me? (Yes!) Then let's go ahead and do that.

America is in need of this kind of person. The whole world is in need of this kind of person. If we are determined to be this kind of person, as time goes by the whole world will find that they need us. What is the biggest building in America? If it is the Empire State building, we are going to buy that. Which is the biggest bank in America? (Bank of America.) Then we are going to make it ours.

Don't laugh at me. I already have the plan to do this. Several years ago had you ever dreamed of our buying this Barrytown site? In Tarrytown, too, I've bought many parcels of land almost occupying one-third of Tarrytown. So, whenever you pass by the Empire State building, why don't you pray to God, "We are determined to buy this building. Sooner or later it will be ours." We are going to elect the mayor of New York City out of our own family.

Some of you laugh at me, but just wait and see. What I say will be carried out. Some of the young girls here who now look miserable selling peanuts, flowers and things like that on the streets, who knows, in later years they are going to be the wives of congressmen, senators and lawyers. You can even become the president's wife, first lady of the country. You must have a great ambition. With this kind of hope, let us go on.

My topic this afternoon was, "A Needed Man." Maybe you are going to be the President of the United States, but not the President who is not needed but the President who is most needed by the people. Perhaps you are going to be a congressman or senator, but not one not needed by the people, but rather one most needed. Almost without exception all the congressmen and senators know me.

All those who were in New York for the United Nations General Assembly came to know me, because they know that behind the PR teams Reverend Moon is working. The other day eight ambassadors wanted to invite me out. I'm going to become more and more famous.

If I could afford to spend more time with you, I could talk on and on, describing what the ideal world in the future will be like. You would be amazed. So I will reserve it for the future. You would be a dreamer, not a man of action. I want you to be practical people. If there are any daydreamers, I'm the foremost one, I think.

More than anything else, I want you to become men who are needed by everyone else -- by your family, by your nation and the whole world. On the horizontal level and on the vertical level, reaching God, you must be the ones needed most by God. If you are most needed by the whole world, you will be welcomed by all people of the world. And that's the happiest thing you can imagine.

Would you want me to be here with you every day or once a week, once a month, once a year, or what? (Every day!) But suppose I leave you to visit my people all over the world and come back in three years, what would you do? Will you complain? (No.) Would you still want me to come back to you? (Yes.) You're bad people, thinking of things centered on yourselves.

Suppose each one of the missionaries to 127 nations makes 10,000 members -- then wouldn't they like me to visit them? Then would you want me to visit them? (Yes.) Can I spend only one day with them at each place, one week, one month, or three months? What would you like? By that time you will complain saying, "Well, if you spent three months with them, you must spend at least three or more years with us American members."

One-tenth of the period of time must be allocated to other people. If you want me to be with you three years at a time, you must want me to visit those nations for three months. If you would allow me to visit those people for three months at a time in one place, hold up your hands. Then I will come back to you after 30 years. Would that be okay"? (Yes. No.)

Maybe I'll be able to meet you in the spirit world. Maybe an old man about 80 years of age will come back to you, leaning on his cane. Then how can you be blessed by me? If I come back after 30 years will you still wait for me? (Yes.) I cannot believe you. Even if I spend only one month in each nation, it will take me ten years. Where would you want me to live most of my life? Suppose in each nation they want to build the most gorgeous villas and mansions for me?

The reason I am saying this is that I want to say I cannot live in America all the time in the future. In order to avoid complaints from so many members, I may have to go back to Korea and live there. It is possible that we will have tens and thousands of people lined up to see me after visiting Korea. It sounds like a dream, but it will come true. Your having met me in person will be the source of your pride in the future.

You don't know the blessedness of your being directly with me like this. You sing songs, preparing the atmosphere to receive me, and I'm compelled to come to talk to you. But just think, in the other countries, however hard they may sing for me and prepare for me, can I visit them? So I want you to know the blessing of being with me in person. Just imagine, can I keep on doing this kind of thing with the members everywhere in the future? No. Do you think that I am qualified enough to do what I have told you that I am going to do? (Yes.)

If you feel that what I have said is true, then be confident to be the persons who are most needed by America. In three years' time I want you to carry out your responsibility for America, and in three years if I find you have not carried out your mission, I have to go back to Korea. In those three years, I want you to become the persons most needed by God, by the world, by America, by me, and by each other, and take responsibility for the whole world in this way.

Are you sure that I am loved by God? (Yes.) I sometimes feel God doesn't love me as much as I love you. Even I myself don't feel God's love on the practical level like you feel my love. Unless you move about doing things, you cannot feel the air. Air is all around you but its invisible; only when you run along the road do you feel the wind coming against you.

That's how I feel God. If you really want to know God, go out to the frontlines fighting, moving about. That is why, whenever I feel in need of something, I move about; I visit the members; I travel from place to place. Do you understand what I feel? By way of analogy I can say that God is like a diamond mine or gold mine. The deeper I dig into the hole, the more I find, and purer. I must put my whole energy into digging the hole to find gold or diamonds.

More than anything else we are in the position of sons and daughters to God, and just as children need their parents, so we need God. And just as parents need the children, so God also needs us. Sometimes you are discouraged and say, "Oh, I think I am not for the Unification Church." In that case I want you to feel more challenge and step over the obstacles to win the victory.

If you feel the obstacle is too much for you, you must talk to yourself, saying that you have not gone through many difficult experiences in your past life, so you must be prepared for more. If you get used to overcoming obstacles, you will find that God is there helping you out. In the frontline when you go through difficulties and find God working with you, then you will be so grateful and you will almost weep in gratitude. If you are in that mood then you will be told whom to meet the following day.

Your dream will be realized the following day and everything will be done while God is teaching you. If you really taste that kind of thing, you will be more zealous and enthusiastic to face difficulties. If there is an angry wave beating against you, if you steer through and see new light, you feel more happiness than when you have gone through lesser difficulties. Spirit world will be mobilized to make people come to you, instead of your going to meet them.

If you go through the heart of God, then you can reach out to the end of the world, covering all mankind, but if you remain what you are now you are helpless, without being able to do anything great. When you are united with God, nothing is impossible. That's true. God is as big as the whole universe.

In the face of difficulties, why can't you embrace all those people? Suppose someone -- the governor or the mayor -- comes against you. If you can embrace and encompass him, then he cannot beat on you but will be beaten or absorbed or embraced by you. Would God want a person who is just thinking and thinking, without putting anything into action? No. What He wants is a man of action. Would you want to be persons of action or just meditation? (Action.) What God wants in you is the successful accumulation of right deeds and deep experiences.

In the course of restoration I have immeasurable qualifications, being united with God, and I have merits and deeds accumulated in my past. With such experiences, when you go out to the frontline witnessing to people, whatever difficulty may come you can swallow it, digest it, and make it a part of you. You will have digestive power with the help of God.

I want you to be a small Reverend Moon. What I have gone through in America is what you are going to do. You can have your own banquets, your own Day of Hope speech tour, etc. If you are in need of money you can persuade the richest man in your area to donate the money or you can earn your own money. You are going to fight for righteousness, and in that battle I want you to be bullets.

With determination like that you must take the offensive against evil. Are you ready to fight? (Yes.) Would you rather fight all by yourself or with others? (Others.) The bullets and cannonballs are the words, the truth. When we say we fight it does not mean we destroy America. As it now stands, when the FBI and CIA people look at me they see danger signs everywhere. I am the person most needed by the American people. But most of them think of me as dangerous.

You must be able to change their image of me. The evil world uses every possible means -- money, politics, power and everything -- to propagandize against us. We must prove we are on God's side by being faithful to what we are doing with confidence, merit and deeds. From that point of view I need you. Even though I have been the target of bad rumors, you need me. If we remain still, there would be no noise, but instead we are moving about, always doing tremendous things. That's why we are making noise. They think we are notorious people.

If you are really confident and know that you are needed by God in the providence of restoration under the will of God, and if you are really grateful that you are endowed with life at this moment, I want you to go ahead until the time you obtain the goals, win the victory and return it to God.

Man must pass through good times and bad times. What determines whether one's experiences will be good or bad and where do they originate? The majority of cases are concerned with human relationships. Another possible area is our life in spirit world, whether God will accept you or not, face you or not face you.

When you meet the worst, how do you overcome it? When you meet bad people or have a bad relationship with somebody, you are really in bad shape. In contrast, if you have relationships with good people, you have the best or happiest life. When you look at reality, in this sinful society, you see that in a majority of human relationships one can be destroyed or used.

The majority are not in your favor. The problem is how you are going to select the person to bring you the highest degree of happiness. Spiritual people can sense within themselves whether bad relationships or good relationships are coming, just like you sense the weather -- if it's cloudy, sunny, or gloomy.

You may within your daily cycle have this kind of experience. Not only do we confront daily such situations but you have to look at your whole life. You have to determine how to make your life happy. What can one do? Do not follow your own will; do not follow your own desire. That's the secret.

The best way to overcome any trouble is to go to your parents if they are living, to your best teachers, or your best friend. In this sinful world there is nobody we can trust except the most loving parents, the most loving teachers, the most loving friends. There is no other person you can trust.

Even though you may consult these three kinds of people, they are in the same situation as you, sometimes at their best, sometimes at their worst. Of course, you have to consult these three categories of people when you are in trouble. But, when you talk to your loving parents, sometimes they are deeper in trouble or more depressed. And the same thing goes, too, for your teachers and your friends. When you cannot get help even from these people, what can you do? You are at a loss.

Even in this kind of situation, if you set up a clear goal for your life, and can say why you are living -- then you will be a better or happier person even in this sinful world. The categories of purpose can be said to be personal purpose and national purpose. You can become a successful man on the individual level or national level. If you stick to only an individual purpose, you are an individually purposeful, successful man. But when you are on the national level, you become a national success. So it is correct to say, rationally, that man should have a proper view of life.

When you have ups and downs, the time when you fulfill your purpose will automatically be postponed. Of course, you would like to proceed directly so that in a short period of time you would accomplish your purpose. But when people zigzag and go through suffering, they have the benefit of accumulating more experiences.

In other words, in having ups and downs you will experience persons of character types A, B, C, D, and so forth. To some extent, a man is pitiful because he worked so hard to reach his goal. If we compare these two categories of people -- those who go directly and those who zigzag -- we will find the same thing as you find in the classroom: those who master the textbook and know only that part, and those who use lots of reference books and thus obtain more knowledge.

In the long run, the person going through ups and downs and having lots of experiences will be an experienced leader of others. In the past all righteous saints and prophets trod the road going through ups and downs, hardship and persecution, so they are the ones who belong to this category. In the worldly sense we might say this is ridiculous, "This foolish person!" But in the long run, he is the happiest, most successful person. Most religious people, most conscientious people belong to that category.

Even if there is God, is He sad or happy? When people are always happy, He will feel happy. But the majority have problems, so even God Himself thinks, "How can I put up with the worst and most miserable things on earth in the relationships of fallen men?" God cannot be happy when He is confronted with that kind of relationship. From God's point of view, when He sees man under the worst conditions and most tragic situations still happy, then God will be proud of His creation.

That means we must overcome that situation because God will be glad to see us overcome a bad situation and turn tragedy into happiness. The evidence is in the Bible. On the cross Jesus said, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?" That means in the minute of death he was talking about God's will and his will as the same. Jesus prayed for his enemies: from a secular point of view that cannot be understood. But in the worst of situations, he made that statement to God.

What kind of a lesson can we find in all this? To overcome bad situations, the Unification Church pays indemnity. We overcome difficult situations through paying indemnity. After the price is paid, the worst thing becomes valuable, and the worst unhappiness turns into happiness. Through this indemnity process, utilizing that adverse condition we can multiply progress on this foundation. In the Unification Family if we adopted and applied this, then we would make unhappiness into happiness, and we would be successful.

By paying indemnity weekly, monthly and yearly, you will fill that dungeon of the valley, and climb up to the heights. The indemnity periods differ according to individual background... sometimes 100 years, sometimes a thousand years. The Israeli people spent 2,000 years after Jesus' crucifixion in a period of indemnity.

You are in a short period of one generation but you have to look at the thousand or hundred thousand years you have to pay. Even if you spend 1,000 years in paying indemnity after 1,000 years only one person is able to climb up to the Kingdom of Heaven. We don't know who will be the one person to be selected. A person in trouble may be the one chosen. Who knows?

In this worst condition he has to hope that after this is over he would go to his original destiny in the Kingdom of Heaven. The same thing is happening with the destiny of America. It is declining right now. But in this situation one person will turn this destiny of destruction into a destiny of happiness. One person can lift this situation up to Heaven. Whether it's on the level of the individual, or whether it occurs in one generation or in a hundred thousand years, the same law of indemnity applies.

Adam fell. What does it mean? When Adam's sister fell, he went to the dungeon of hell. To restore the situation, one person -- another Adam -- must come here, go through the dungeon and climb up. The same law applies on the individual level, national level, or world level. The problem is where did sorrow and happiness start -- where is the starting point of these two extremes?

The starting point is man and woman. They started following their own desire. Number two, they followed another master. Because of this, mankind fell to the dungeon. In order to climb up, we have to go the opposite way, we have to restore. Adam and Eve fell centered on their own desire. This time, we must obey God's desire, not our desire.

You have to change it. That's simple: Follow His desire, His wishes. God is your master. Not your will, but His will. Cling to Him, grab Him. Religion teaches absolute faith, not half faith. You are working for God, you are fulfilling His will, so you are not your own person, you are His.

When you are trying to climb up, some forces appear to pull you down, to turn you away. That's a problem. Satan is right there, waiting for you. Even your mother and father will pull you; your nation will pull you down; your friends will pull you down. That's why Jesus clearly said, "If you love your mother and father and your sons and daughters more that you love me, you are not worthy to be my disciples."

There is a simple formula to overcome all this. If you stick to the idea that "I am living for Him, I am doing for Him, I am dying for Him," that's all you can do. So even in adverse conditions you don't have to be sad. You don't have to feel unhappy; you can feel good. If God is happy, I will be happy. If He's unhappy, I will be unhappy. I am responsible to make Him happy. You should have that kind of thinking.

What is the mission of a Messiah when he comes to earth? The new definition of Messiah is: the person who goes through the worst conditions, then very soon climbs up to reach Heaven. That kind of person is the Messiah. Then if the Messiah falls into adverse country and he cannot get out, he's not the Messiah. He has to get out. Any kind of historical confrontation never even upsets him. That is a Messiah's qualification.

The Messiah is the person who must have fought in the worst conditions in hell and stood firm, just like a rising sun in the East. The Messiah must have overcome and controlled all situations in the spirit world. This Messiah should fulfill individual restoration. The individual level is not enough to restore the whole world. He has to restore the family. Sometimes at the family level he has the same persecution.

He has to stand firm and climb up. If this Messiah on the family level says, "I will retire, I cannot cope with all that, forget it," then he's not the Messiah. In the bottom of the dungeon of family persecution he has to stand firm. He has to overcome on the tribal level also. On the national level, he has to stand firm. On the world level, this Messiah should overcome and stand firm.

That kind of Messiah should not pray to God, "Help me, I'm in trouble." He must not say that! If he does he disqualifies himself as a Messiah. In the middle of a boxing or wrestling match can you say: "Help me! Somebody come here, referee come here!" No, you can't do that! Messiahship is overcoming evil, by oneself, for God.

This is the reason why Jesus Christ, in thirty-three years, including his three years of public ministry, never said to God, "God, curse them, persecute them, destroy them." If he did, he would lose his Messiah championship right there. In the first round he will be knocked out.

Now let's talk about the Unification Church and Reverend Moon. Persecution on the national level by the Republic of Korea has been overcome; now America is going to give me a bad time. Now, suddenly, I have to pay another level of indemnity. Also, all Communist countries will be against me. I know that's coming. Are you ready to follow?

So, you become a good person because you've become one with me. Because I am a good person, automatically you become a good person. You are working for me, but I'm working for God. So, I'm a participant in the heavenly dispensation. You have a good investment because, if I win the victory on the national level in America, you are automatically engrafted to me. You jump from the individual to family to tribal level, equivalent to my level.

By now you know which road is the happiest road and which road is a miserable road. Then if you are in your worst condition, you say, "I will overcome by myself." Through indemnity you have to overcome it. That's the strategy you have to use. Then when you come to the happiest thing, glorify God, thank God. Glorify Father and the True Parents first, then glorify yourself next.

Whenever you are having trouble say, "I am in the indemnity period. I have to overcome." Stand firm, overcome that situation, and you will get out of it. When you cannot overcome, still you have to fight within yourself: "Still in my blood, in my body, the seed of Satan is right there. I have to overcome it. You get out of my body!" You have to fight back. By doing so, we turn the unhappy or miserable into the happy. And you will be the happiest person in this life.

It is very warm, isn't it? When you have no fan, or no cooling system, when you feel unbearably hot, think of the primitive people in Africa. You think on behalf of the whole African continent, you are standing firm, and you climb up. You overcome the hotness of the world, and you will feel cool from that moment. This is the indemnity method, a very precious law we found. This indemnity law is a fact.

The final conclusion is, we have in front of us a mountain to overcome, a sorrowful, tragic mountain. But we can overcome it through the law of indemnity. Make it the happiest situation so everyone can pass through. I want you to be a victor in this troubled time. Through this law you will be a successful heir of the Unification Movement. That is our direction.

The Significance Of Victory In Korea

It was almost two months ago that I made a brief visit back to America, saw you and then left for Korea again. You must have heard about the June 7 rally at May 16th Square in Seoul and the successful speech tour I made.

I'm sure you're anxious to hear more about them and their providential significance. You all know very well that whatever I'm doing is not for my own personal benefit or for the benefit solely of the Unification Church, but whatever I do I do in accordance with God's providence and His will.

As you well know, Korea is my native land, my fatherland. You are often asked your nationality, and you have different nationalities. When I'm asked that question, I say that my nationality is Korean. Between Korea and me there's an absolute connection which no one can sever. I love my native land, but I had to leave it again for the sake of the United States.

It is because of the providence of God that I must work here at least several more years. Therefore, whoever wants to know who I am and what I am, must know about Korea and the United States. What I have been doing in these countries is significant. People should also know of me and my activities through the missionaries sent to 120 nations.

Whatever I do in Korea will be passed on to America and the rest of the nations. Therefore, what I do in Korea becomes more and more significant. As you know, we have sent out missionaries to 127 nations, with one Japanese, one American, and one German brother or sister making up a team.

If those countries want to know about our movement, they would very likely want to get the information from Korea. So, it's very important to win the favor of the Korean Government so that they will give them good information. In Korea in 1975, we had to make a breakthrough in the struggle between our group and the established churches or the government.

When the people of the world observe what is taking place in Korea, they see that the balance of power favors North Korea's side. They anticipate renewed aggression from North Korea, especially after the fall of Vietnam and the Khmer Republic. The whole world is tense, and Korea, more than any other nation, is wondering nervously whether or not the North will attack. At a time when most Korean people are in deep despair and darkness, we held our slogan high in the air, saying "Day of Hope Festival," and of course it surprised people. We stirred up the whole country of Korea in that way.

The May 16th Square rally was the culmination and zenith of what we have been doing in Korea. The contents of my speech and the significance of the rally were a decisive blow to Kim Il-sung, the North Korean premier. It was of historical significance that we had that rally, and I'm sure that those in spirit world from the Western world and the Eastern world were all mobilized to help us out.

In the spirit world, whether they are Western spirits or Eastern spirits, they all know that without my doing the job, the world cannot get rid of Communism. The rally this time achieved the greatest record ever established in the world. We have done what the government could not have done. The newspapers informed the people that our gathering was smaller than those gathered at the rally under the auspices of the government, but in fact ours overwhelmed the other.

So we took a big stride, and all Korean people know by now that Reverend Moon is the greatest hero of at least Korea, if not of the world. What I have done has surprised the whole world, and the Korean people have looked up at me in amazement.

They were surprised to find that we could mobilize more than one million people by working barely two months, while Billy Graham could mobilize only 500,000 people by working for two whole years. This shows the people that Heaven has been on our side, helping us. To know the timetable of God's providence, and to keep up with the time is so important.

We have here a congregation of about 300. Just imagine the sea of people when we gathered 1,200,000 people. Have you ever heard of that kind of rally, or even imagined one? This is only possible because God was on our side, loving our group, and the established churches had to calm down in opposing our movement. God does not choose to oppress people or beat people by force, but leaves them to do whatever they want to do.

If they go against his favored group, they will be subjugated by that group as a matter of course. You are peacefully going about your usual business, but in Korea I did tremendous work in the face of opposition from the people and from the established churches, which even exploited the kindergarten and primary school children, and high school students, not to mention older people.

They did whatever they could, and they were beaten. So, the public is on our side, and from now on, if and when the established church members come against our movement, the public would volunteer to fight against them.

On the other hand, we are now in a position to be helped by the government, and they are completely on our side. In America, the people and your government say that I am being used by the Korean Government, but the truth is the contrary. I was helping the Korean Government. You have experienced quite a few such things.

You all know that your teacher, your Master is the foremost man in the whole world, but people think on the contrary that he is one of the most evil of people. Do you think Father is happy to hear that? (No!) What about God? (No!) Then what must we do about that? God is unhappy, Father is unhappy, and all of you are unhappy to hear that kind of thing being said. You sometimes think that Almighty God should oppress those people, should even kill those people -- weed them out, at least. Do you want it done? (No.)

When you look back at your childhood days, were you always praised by your parents, were you obedient children to them always? (No.) Were you scolded by them or praised by them? You had more things to be scolded for than to be praised for. In God's sight also, when He looks at the people, there are more things they have to be scolded for by Him. If we are in many ways better than those people, the difference is just a particle.

You are opposed by them, but among those who are opposing our movement, there are many people who are of more merit than you yourselves. Can just plain helpless people oppose something very powerful? No.

Take the example of Saint Paul when he opposed the disciples of Jesus. He was a powerful man, and he had every reason for his actions. Compared to some of those people, you are just nothing in the worldly sense. The Christian ministers, the theological scholars, and those people like the scribes and Pharisees in Jesus' days, think and believe that our movement is an evil one; that's why they are opposing our movement.

Instead of fighting against them, we must have more weight and more balance of power than they have, and we must strengthen ourselves, well-armed with truth and with everything else, to fight to convince them. Sometimes God would choose to let those people oppose us, because in that way alone, God sees that we are going to be strengthened and united.

By having those people oppose our movement, God is training us. What is training? Training is to tackle you, to test your power and strength in that way. So God is using those people, those opposing powers as the instrument to train us. God is in a way testing us to find out if we can still go on despite the opposition.

If those people want to twist our heads, would we still live and go ahead? Even though the power of opposition is so strong as to destroy us if we cannot overwhelm the power, God will praise us and take delight in us, and trust us.

In the face of opposition I always feel more challenged, and when the 17 big and small religious sects were united into one to oppose us -- I felt a great challenge. We were only one group fighting against 17 religious sects. When I fought against them and won over them, both God and I were overjoyed. If the opposing power would do whatever they would want to do, then they will be diminished. Unless they do that kind of thing, they cannot be defeated.

They know that they cannot win over us because we are so strong, so united. Their money cannot beat us; their position, their power cannot beat us. They concluded that the more they oppose our movement, the more seriously they would be beaten. If you pray to God that He should punish those people without your fighting against them, God will not help you. Don't you know that for six thousand years, God allowed the satanic power to fight against the good side, and He's anxious to have the people on the good side fight against evil and annihilate them on their own.

From now on, the God-denying ideology of Communism and the nations under Communism will be united into one. The God-loving ideology and the nations with those ideologies will be united into one, and the two sides will fight against each other. Would you expect God to beat the Communist world and exterminate them, or would you, yourselves, rather do that? (We would!) Yes, that's true.

The established church people stagger in the face of Communism and will never be able to fight against them. What do you think? Would God be happy over this fact? (No!) Would God then want to punish those people, and blast the established church Christians when they don't fight against Communism? (Yes!) God would like the people who have the strength and power to fight evil. This is to maintain the dignity of the children of God. You American members, would you rather be beaten or escape from that evil power, or to fight against it and win over it? (Win!)

If the American citizens are like that, America itself and the government should also be like that, don't you think so? (Yes!) You have seen that America retreated from both Vietnam and Cambodia. Are you happy to imagine such a picture -- the giant nation of America escaping from those nations?

The people of the world are scornful of America, and so is God. We Unification Church members don't like the idea of being chased by the evil power, so we must warn the American people not to be cowards. We are a new breed of people, different from the ordinary Americans and the American government. You must fight with righteousness.

For all religious people, and especially for all Christians, the God-denying ideology of Communism is the enemy. We must know that it is God's enemy, too, so that we will fight against that evil power and win over it with the help of God. If the Communist people are cruel, we must be tougher then they. If they are strong, we must be stronger than they. If they are wise, we must be wiser than they are.

My whole life up to the present moment has been a great fight, but I have never retreated, I have never been defeated. If, in my calculation, my struggle is not going to bring victory, rather than retreat, I would think and form my strategy. Then I would dash forward and fight. Now is the time when we have to fight.

We have to be confronted with, fight and win over any evil power, and Communism is the most evil power existing in the world. I order you to annihilate all the evil powers... like juvenile delinquency, the drug problem, family disunity -- all these things. We cannot accept the idea of immoral sexual promiscuousness. We must liquidate and exterminate all those evil things. Do you agree with me? (Yes!)

So in our Church, even when you are seated, we separate the males from the females. Don't ever dream of writing love-letters to the opposite sex. American minds may not be able to understand that. Even without your writing love-letters, I will choose good mates for you. This is not just talk. I will do that.

In Japan, when I matched 800 Japanese couples, it took me only ten hours. You know what it is to match-make -- it's a very difficult job. You know, for instance, you go on a date with someone, and associate with each other for several months or several years, then after dating for so long, you find that he or she is not exactly for you.

Can you imagine that I matched 800 couples in ten hours' time? I didn't make them stand in two rows-one for male, one for female and just match them like that. No. I can read faces of people. A funny thing happened in Japan. They were matched in such a short interval of time, they couldn't find their own mates, so someone was taking a different girl for his mate and Father knew at a glance that she was a different one, and Father said, "No, this one is not for you -- that one."

All the Japanese members were surprised Father remembered all those faces, and they said they had to study Father more deeply. Even at this moment, when I look at one of the girls, I immediately think, "Oh, that girl will be for that man." When I match you people, you can be sure that you are going to give birth to good, wonderful children. At one glance you may think, "Oh, he or she is not for me! Oh, that person is my complete opposite!" But just wait and you will find that that man or that girl is exactly the one for you.

We have been doing a great number of things centered on God and His will, and in doing those jobs, we must do the most wonderful job, in matrimony as in all things. We must eradicate the evil ways prevailing in this nation -- family rupture, youth problems. Are you determined to do that? (Yes!)

Do you realize that you must sometimes operate on boils and things like that, when it is serious? Are you that strong? (Yes!) I have fought all through my life, but have you ever found me to be exhausted? (No!) I get stronger and stronger; I never retreat.

Just imagine, a man born in the small nation of Korea is here, to challenge and fight against the whole population of America, this giant nation. My plan is to educate the congressmen, all the senators, and even the president of this nation. They will get hurt, and do anything against us, but just let them wait and see, and I will convince them, I will persuade them to be educated by me.

Whatever great things I may say, I cannot do the job all by myself, without your cooperation. I want you to have great faith and confidence that you can educate those people and recreate those people to be good policy-makers and good people to rule over the nation.

You must become this kind of person: the senators and congressmen, or even the president of your nation may have to escape when Communism takes over the nation. But you will not be defeated by them, and you will remain to fight against them, to the last, until you win over them. Even in Korea, under the threat of Communist aggression, the top-level government people were ready to escape from the nation, taking all their wealth with them to other countries.

But I was different from them, and I was totally dedicated and devoted my life to fighting against that power. Those people would leave the nation in despair, but even in despair and darkness, I will turn to the nation and fight for the nation. That's why, after our success at the rally this time, the broadcast coming from North Korea said, "Reverend Moon is more our enemy than President Park. So we must beat him, this traitor Reverend Moon."

They're using NBC and other channels to oppose our movement, but I'm deeply resolved that I'm going to subjugate and beat NBC or any other opposing power. I'm such a fierce and merciless person, in a way. I'm such a person by nature. Once I start fighting, I will fight through until I die or win the victory. Would you like to resemble me? (Yes!)

The reason I'm saying this is that you must save this nation, because this nation is crumbling. The idea of freedom cannot save this nation. Would Communists leave the people alone, when you just advocate peace and freedom? You talk highly of freedom, but you are becoming more and more individualistic. Without unity, can you get the strength to win over Communism? (No!)

I am a man of ideals and freedom and peace in every sense, but with Communism existing in the world, I cannot sit still just advocating peace and freedom. That's why I'm fighting. Then how can we assume leadership in this crumbling nation by just sitting with folded hands, advocating peace and freedom? Student power cannot do the job. The government bureaucracy cannot do the job. That's why I'm here -- to do the job.

My conclusion is that I must find a group of young people who are so dynamic as to take the leadership and initiative to beat that evil power, to lead this nation, and save it. Only after our having swallowed up Communism, can we really enjoy freedom and peace. With Communism existing in the world, can you imagine that you are going to live in a world of peace and freedom? (No!)

Nobody would want to fight, of course. But what if Communism, as in the case of Vietnam, comes with pointed guns, from Canada and Mexico? What would you do? (Fight!) Without the Unification Church youth, all the rest of the people would just escape to other countries. In escaping, you are going to throw yourselves into the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. There's no way for you to escape. You may say, "We have a great number of jet planes and aircraft, and we will live in the aircraft, high up in the air." Can you do that? (No!)

It's almost getting too late, so a dynamic person like Reverend Moon must convince young people, and make them into such dynamic youth who can repel that power. If I have brainwashed you, and you become more than what you used to be in the outside world, in the old world, wouldn't that be good? (Yes!) Did you lose anything? (No!)

You have been selling flowers, and fundraising in many other ways, but if you are willing to do that, how can other people interfere with what you are doing? Me, too, I'm doing what I like to do. If I'm reluctant to do this kind of thing, I can never succeed. We have many things in common. That's why I'm happy whenever I see you and you are happy whenever you are with me. If we are happy with each other, what other power can deny it?

It is out of jealousy that they revile us. So, we must mobilize ourselves with all-out effort, with desperateness and become almost mercilessly powerful. With that kind of heavenly power, we have raised questions and issues in Korea, in Japan, and in the United States. You are not any less than what I am. I'm not too handsome, and I'm not too much stronger than you. Some of you are taller than I, and bigger in stature. You can do more than I can do. Faith and confidence can make you do that. If I kick at you, I don't want you to shrink back, but to come against me.

When I came to the United States, I was determined to even be imprisoned in Sing Sing. If they put me into jail many times, I will still fight on. I'm not ashamed of what I'm doing, because God approves of what I'm doing. But the evil power which oppressed and persecuted the prophets and saints in olden days is still here to fight against me. Some of you here may fall away and rebel against me. I can see this possibility. Are you sure you are not going to be like that?

Are you confident that you will never change, never vacillate, from morning til night? Are you really like that, deep in your heart? That's the question. (Yes!) You are wavering like this, every moment. Isn't that true? (Yes!) You have two minds always working in you, at war with each other. One mind is thinking of your physical selves, and the other, the spiritual side. You are wavering between the two sides. Early in the morning when you wake, you are full of zeal, and you want to fight. But by the time you go to bed, you are exhausted, and you fall back.

Unless you win over the evil power working in yourselves, unless you have your spiritual side overcome your physical side when both powers are at war with each other, unless you do that, you cannot dream of fighting the fiercer battle. That's why in the past I have chosen to go through more difficult ways, to experience a bit of everything that people of the world have experienced.

Unless I experience the same thing, I cannot be confident to win the battle. Have you tested yourselves by putting yourselves under those conditions? You have never done that. That's why you are not fully confident. If you are without confidence, how can God help you out? God cannot help you while you don't have confidence.

You may go through 40-day training, 120-day training, over and over, but however hard you may struggle, if you don't do what I have told you to do, then you cannot win the battle. In general, I cannot trust young people. So, unless I put them into trials and have them trained, and get them to have this confidence, I cannot trust you. I cannot use you.

The problem, the question, is always you. The question is not God, not Master, but you yourself. If you solve your own problems, God will be with you, and Master will be with you. I have conquered all the temptations, all the tests, and won the victory over all those things. That's why God trusts me. I have prepared for this day; I have planned and been ready for the rally, and with confidence I began the task, and completed it with success.

Many people imagined that at the best, we would assemble several hundred thousand people. But we assembled more than one million. It is because I aroused a whirlwind or typhoon -- both God's power and our power, when they meet with each other and turn in the right way, stirred the whole world with the whirlwind, with the typhoon. In the face of tension and desperate conditions arising in Korea, when I was there challenging those powers, they were overwhelmed and beaten.

Our next project for the coming year is Yankee Stadium. Do you think we can mobilize the people to fill up the whole place? (Yes!) How? In what way? It is very simple; while our Master has confidence, we will have the same confidence and in confidence we will work at our best, doing our best, and we will do the job.

You will meet with individuals, in homes and groups, offices and theatres, and meet the people; wherever you go there will be a whirlwind or typhoon aroused by you. If you kick at something with that confidence, things will be shattered. Every morning when you set out for your work, feel as though you will shout at the whole congregation of several hundred thousand before you. With a thundering voice you will scream and shout at them. They are spiritually already beaten.

You begin the day in a high mood and good spirits, and you will always be ignited with a happy smile, and then you can influence and move the hearts of people. Suppose you meet a man frowning at you with an unhappy and miserable face. When you smile at him, he will be overwhelmed, and the smile will be contagious, and you will get him to smile.

Even when you call a puppy, if you smile at him he will follow you. But if you frown at him and frighten him, would he follow you? (No!) The same applies to God. If you smile at God and speak to Him in happiness, He will smile back and He will be happy to be with you. You can even speak to God in a murmur and say, "Whomever I meet, I will just conquer him, crush him, and get him on my side."

And Father will agree with you, God will agree with you. Poor Mr. Kamiyama may have thought, "Oh, after the tremendous job, after the exhausting job of Madison Square Garden, with the Yankee Stadium project ahead, what shall I do? I've not enough manpower, not enough money." I want him and you to be happier than God is, and more confident than He is. Then you cannot but win the goal.

May I ask you a question? Would you rather have me here today or tomorrow? (Today!) Why? (We love you!) I had a flight of almost 24 hours because we had to spend several hours in Hawaii and other places. My ears are roaring and I'm tired enough to be able to sleep days and days. How can you expect me to be here today, as soon as I arrive? By this time, Korean people are sleeping; I dozed off while eating. So, ask yourselves why am I here when I could have come tomorrow?

I was very happy to see my people there with flowers for me, and with broad-daylight smiles for me. I expected those things to happen, and I expected you to shout "Mansei" -- things like that. That made me happy. I was happy in the morning in that way, so I expected more happiness waiting for me at noontime.

I was anxious to see your young faces smiling at me. I have no other place to go, to meet with smiling faces like this. Your faces are all ignited with happiness, I can see. You are happy to see me. If you are happy, the happiness is reflected on me. I'm studying how to make myself happy towards the evening also. I left something behind which will be a thing of happiness for me for the evening. What do you think it is? (Children.) I've already met them.

Today happens to be the first of July. This is a historical day in our movement, to be remembered for eternity. From today on, we are going to enter the third seven-year course. So, even though I'm exhausted, I cannot sit still or relax. I know Mother is very, very tired. To have a husband like me is an awful thing. But that cannot be helped, because I'm not doing this for my own sake. Because she knows that I'm doing this for the benefit of mankind, she cannot complain.

You all should learn from Mother. If your husbands are working for the benefit of mankind, for justice and righteousness, you must never complain. I want you to even drag your husband to his public mission if he's reluctant to do that. Some of the female members here may be better than Mother in that, because Mother has never dragged me that way. So, I don't want you to be beaten by Mother in that sense. I want you to be better than Mother in that sense. In some ways, I'm often beaten by Mother, so it is in no way a bad thing.

With the goal of goodness ahead, you must start with happiness in the morning, and towards noon you must reach the top level, and towards evening you must conclude your plan in success and victory. There are always ups and downs on the way -- your road may be bumpy, but still your victory is assured when you struggle on. Human thought and spiritual power are formidable.

When you came for training, were you happy? (Yes!) Are you going through training with happiness? (Yes!) Are you anticipating the conclusion of the training with success? (Yes!) Don't you ever frown like this, in the thought that you have to go out to the frontline to witness, after the completion of the training? (No!) Many of you think, "Oh, I have no confidence, I have a poor memory, I have no experience-how can I witness to the people?"

If you have faith in God, you can ride on God and He will carry you to the destiny. If you are riding on the back of God, like a horse rider, you can beat upon the hip of God, and He will take you dashing along the road. There's no doubt about that. You have to test it out.

When you lack the confidence to be a good lecturer, just imagine that God is speaking through your mouth, and just shout out, "Ladies and gentlemen!" and the next words will just naturally come out. With failure, you will say, "God is not speaking through me!" And then you can look back at me to find out that you have not been confident that Father is working with you.

So, you shout again, "Ladies and gentlemen! I am here for you..." and then say the next words. Try it, for at least one week, and you will find yourself to be fluent. At one try, if you fail, don't shrink from trying. Try the second time, the third time, and after several tries you will have confidence. If you are really without confidence, you can memorize the whole chapter, and shout at an imaginary audience several times, and then you will gain confidence.

You must have strong confidence. When you are sent out to the frontline, don't be frightened and without confidence. God cannot help you when you are dismal and without confidence. Would you like to see dismal and downcast people, or happy and uplifting people? (Happy!) That's true with God, too. So leave your home with smiles and happiness in the morning, try to have the same kind of mood towards noon, and especially towards the evening when you come back to your own place, you must have a big smile and happiness.

When I last met you, we were in the last part of the second seven-year course, but today, when I meet you here, we are entering the third seven-year course, so I want you to start the third seven-year course with happiness and smiles -- and confidence. In the turmoil and vortex of chaos, we have to dash forward towards the goal for three more years, at least.

I want you to keep the same mind we are creating now, until the end of the third year. If we are all happy and smiling, God will be happy to see us, and it will make it easy for Him to help us. There will be success and victory that way. With the Yankee Stadium plan ahead of us, I feel as though I'm a kicker, and when I kick at the ball, it will hit the goal.

I think of each one of you as a ball coming at me and I kick at you. I will kick one in this direction, the other in that direction, and so on in every direction. Is the ball full or empty inside? It's empty. That means you must be without yourself there. You must go in every direction, not at your own will, but at the will of God, the will of Master.

If you are the ball, when you are kicked at by Master towards that direction, would you want to go in the other direction? Can you? When the ball is flying towards you, your eyes, nose, mouth, ears-every sense of yours will be concentrating on the ball -- to kick at it. Isn't that true? The ball must go in the direction of the will of the kicker. Throw yourselves -- as the ball -- in such a direction that I can easily kick you in the right direction.

Whenever you hand out handbills, give them out as though you are the messenger of happiness to other people. Just imagine: in the morning, you can keep up being happy, but fatigue comes, and people reject you; you are easily exhausted. You must not allow that to happen. If your mind is well-balanced, and you keep on doing the same thing, always smiling, even though the opponent frowns at you and reviles you, then people cannot but accept what you are giving out. And they will receive happiness, and take the flyers back to influence other people, too.

The secret and power that made it possible for us to mobilize so many people at the Seoul rally was exactly this: To initiate your work in happiness, go through the work with happiness, and end it with happiness. People will look at you: you are with a bundle of leaflets; you must have a clear direction, both on the physical level and spiritual level, so that people will be influenced and moved by you. When people look at your eyes, they can read your mind, and they will immediately find out whether you are doing that with enthusiasm and zeal, or out of reluctance and with no purpose. So, our philosophy must be doing the work with happiness.

The motto for this year is, "Realization of the Kingdom of Heaven." Out of the third seven-year course, the first three years are most important, and I'm going to tell you the significance of that. As you well know, in the Divine Principle the growth stage and the perfection stage of the growth period remain under the fallen category.

The formation stage corresponds to the Old Testament age, while the growth stage corresponds to the New Testament age. The perfection stage corresponds to the Completed Testament age. From now on, the mission of the Unification Church is, after going through the growth stage, to complete the perfection stage.

What would the perfection stage mean for each one of us? It means that you are to be blessed. It means the formation of the true family under the love of God. In the Principle, we call that the realization of the purpose of creation, or the realization of the four-position foundation. The perfection of the purpose of creation is to have Adam and Eve start the love relationship. Through love alone you can form the four-position foundation.

That is the purpose of God's creating man. Without the human fall, a male and female, when they are united into one, could not have had any satanic influence of interference. And their love relationship could have gone on for eternity. In the course of restoration, we must lay the foundation on the national level, at least, before being able to have a perfect family. But our blessing was a conditional one. If we have restored the whole nation to support our movement, then the evil power cannot interfere or invade us when we form a family.

Since there are many nations in the satanic world, on God's side, too, we must be able to form at least one nation of God's choice, where no satanic influence is possible. Without our having done that, we cannot restore nations, one after another. For four thousand years, God had prepared the people to form a nation of God's choice so that when the Messiah was sent, they would receive him.

The Messiah was going to form a family under the love of God, with the people supporting his family to multiply other families, to influence other nations, on the foundation of the restored nation. That nation was the Israelite nation, and Jesus Christ was sent as the Messiah. The Jewish religion was prepared to work in cooperation with Jesus. That's the purpose of the chosen nation of the Israelites.

But the chosen nation of the Israelites failed to cooperate with Jesus as the Messiah, and the same was true with the Jewish faith. After the death of Jesus Christ, God prepared the Christian world to be the foundation corresponding to the nation of Israel. If all three stages were possible, Jesus could have played the role of the center of the Completed Testament age, but because of the failure of both the chosen nation and the Jewish faith, he did not accomplish salvation on both the spiritual and physical levels, but only accomplished the spiritual level of salvation.

Because of their failure in not accomplishing their mission centering on the personage of the Messiah both on the spiritual and physical levels, they had only the spiritual level of things. The physical side was a failure. So Christendom was a nation without a land, just a spiritual nation.

Since Jesus' death, 2,000 years have elapsed. Two thousand corresponds to seven multiplied by three, which will make, of course, 2,100. Where do we now find the level corresponding to the national level in Jesus' day?

We must find one nation on the face of the earth, now. The Jewish people have been scattered all over the world without having a homeland. Once they failed, God would not use that nation any more, and we know and believe that Korea was chosen in its place. I'm going to explain why Korea was chosen for that purpose.

When you follow the evolution of civilizations, you can see a circle going back to an original point, and that's the proof of God's wanting to make the whole of civilization into one united whole. If Jesus had not died, civilization would have returned to the Oriental part of the world. This is so because on the spiritual level, Buddhism and Confucianism all evolved in the Eastern part of the world; Christianity, too.

But with the death of Jesus, the direction was changed to include the Western world, and it should return to the East. In ancient times, human civilization started in the Euphrates valley and then along the Nile River banks; it blossomed in Greece, and then in the peninsula civilization of Rome it flowered and came to its most glorious state. Humanism, in the form of Hellenism, along with Hebraism, was imported to Greece and then it became fruitful in Rome.

In the Medieval Ages in Rome, both Hellenism and Hebraism were in their prime, meaning there was unity between the Cain-like and Abel-like civilizations. The Euphrates was the cradle of Hebraism, and it was also the site of the foundation of Christian civilization, while Hellenism was Humanism without God in the center. It came to flourish in Rome. Centering on Rome, it spread around the Mediterranean world and reached the Iberian Peninsula. It settled in the island nation of England.

Whenever civilization moved to another place, the corruption of the former one made it possible, but it was always marked by progressive change. In Rome, Catholicism was corrupt, and the people under Catholicism fought against each other. It was at this time that the Anglican Church was founded.

Roman Catholicism was somewhat like autocracy, while the Church of England was somewhat in between -- mild, not too extreme. God's will was not to have someone in the religious world exercise control over other people, but God wanted to form the Heavenly Kingdom on the horizontal level.

The Anglican Church of England inherited this tradition and goal and began to send out missionaries all over the world in order to plant the Christian ideology in other nations. God had to allow England to expand its territory to make colonies, thus spreading Christian ideology more easily. From England, civilization was shifted and landed on the continent of America, and became a continental civilization.

In the Old World of Europe, under the persecution of Catholicism, newly emerging Protestantism had to flee to the New World of America. So your forefathers were originally from Europe. They came for religious freedom, with a great ambition to establish a new religion. Some came, of course, with the ambition of making wealth. How could people from all those nationalities mingle together in oneness?

Without God's power working there, they could not become united like this -- a whole new nation. If Catholicism had not persecuted Protestantism, America could not have been born. After the discovery of the continent of America, the land was divided so that the European powers could establish their own colonies, but America is the nation formed by the Protestants in the name of God for religious freedom. Having been born from the will of God, God protected this nation, even though the settlers were of different nationalities. In that way you have become one great nation.

Next year, 1976, you are going to have a bicentennial anniversary. But after 200 years of history, if your nation does not become a great hope for mankind again, it will perish. So, you are in the transitional period. These three years are going to be very important. America has inherited civilization and created a global type of civilization, and it must connect it to one of the Asiatic nations to cover the whole world.

When America sent out her missionaries, they mostly went to Korea, Japan, and China -- the important Asiatic countries, and India. If any one of the Asiatic nations were under Christian rule, then that would be significant in light of the providence of God. Of the three nations of Korea, Japan and China, only Korea has had a Christian government, under the regime of President Syngman Rhee.

In coming to the East, American civilization came through the island of Hawaii. Have you ever thought what must have been the significance of Hawaii's being the main base of the American fleet? From Hawaii, America was going to establish control in the Pacific area. Both Japan and China were more or less anti-American.

Japan corresponded to England. Japan spiritually inherited its civilization from that other island country of England. Their culture and civilization came from England; the way they drive cars on the left side of the road -- much is similar to the English way. After Pearl Harbor, America recovered its power and defeated Japan, and absorbed the culture.

By doing that, America absorbed the civilization of Japan, and passed it on to the peninsula country of Korea, to cover the whole continent of Asia. In order to cover the continent, the civilization should go through a peninsular country, and then to the continent. The peninsular country connecting itself to the continent of Asia is Korea, corresponding to Italy, where Roman civilization blossomed.

God's will now is to have Korea be fruitful with Eastern and Western civilizations mingled and united into one. On the satanic side, they cannot let this happen, so they are attacking it, making Korea a victim. That is why Communist aggression came about in Korea. To repeat it, the whole civilization of the world made one circle and it bore final fruit in Korea, so Korea is the place where Satan is attacking, and God's side is fighting back.

It was destined that in Korea the 38th parallel would divide North and South Korea. When the satanic power of North Korea invaded South Korea, 16 United Nations' member nations joined in the fight against Communism in the small nation of Korea. This is of great significance in the will of God. It is not human power that did that, but God's power was working there.

Those 16 nations were united into one, both physically and spiritually, shedding their blood in the same land, for the same purpose. Since it was God's will, the truce talks were not supposed to take place at that time. If the American government had allowed General MacArthur to attack Manchuria, then the war could have ended in the victory of the Free World, and America today would not be in the predicament it is.

The United Nations had done a good job to send soldiers from 16 nations to fight in Korea, but dismissing General MacArthur was a tragic historical mistake. If the American government at that time had allowed General MacArthur to use bombs in Manchuria and even in the Soviet Union at that time, the war between Communism and the Free World would not have lasted so long.

America should not have retreated from Asia like that. The south Asian wars and the Middle East tension would not have occurred. When you look at the globe, it turns centering between the latitudes of 38 to 43. This convinces us that God's will is to have Korea be the fruit of all the world civilizations... to realize one world centering on this nation of God's choice.

As in Rome, Hellenism and Hebraism achieved a crossing junction. In Korea, Christianity became corrupt, and in its place the new Christian movement of the Unification Church developed. The Unification Movement, in the position of Hebraism, is against Communism, which corresponds to Hellenism.

In Rome in the olden days, those two isms -- Hebraism and Hellenism -- fought against each other, and Hebraism won over Hellenism, annihilating it completely. Likewise, in Korea, the Unification Movement will absorb or exterminate the Communist ideology which corresponds to Hellenism or Humanism, and then Unification civilization will be born and will last through eternity. Before being able to do that in Korea, our movement must be able to fight against and win over Communism at all costs.

America, after the abandonment of Vietnam and the Khmer Republic, was going to abandon Korea, too. But it was God's intention not to have them abandon Korea because in the year 1950 when the United Nations' member nations -- 16 altogether -- fought in Korea, it was done under God's will, so this time, God will not abandon Korea.

So, even though America originally planned to abandon Korea, now it offers to aid Korea in the fight against Communism and North Korea. After the sacrifice of Vietnam and the Khmer Republic, America was awakened to the fact that they lost their base in Asia to fight against Communism. Now she must establish a base in Korea.

If America let Korea go, then either Red China or Soviet Russia would communize Japan, and they would use Japan to declare war, like they did in the Pacific War. That's why America was compelled to help Korea this time. If America abandons Korea, there will be no more America, no more Free World.

Korea is the final base of the Free World in the Asiatic world, and while people are more or less pessimistic about the future of Korea, at the rally we shouted at the top of our voices that we would fight against Kim Il-sung. Japan cannot go on its own, Korea cannot live on its own, and America also cannot live without Korea and Japan intact from Communist invasion.

After her victory in World War II, America's position was one of dominance over Japan. If she would let Korea go now, it means that Japan would be communized. In the Asiatic part of the world, Japan and Korea must be united into strong oneness to fight against Communism. Neither Korea nor Japan can stand on its own. So, they must be united into one.

Politics alone cannot make unity. Money cannot make unity. Any other power cannot make unity. Only ideology or religious belief can do the job. In our Unification Movement, the religious ideology and Unification Thought are a philosophy to unite both Korea and Japan and any other country if necessary, into one.

The significance of our having had the great rally at this time, inviting our members from 60 nations, was to show the people that we can unite the whole Free World under the ideology of Unification Thought and the religious movement of the Divine Principle, to save the Free World against Communist invasion.

America is the last Western nation to be in a position to influence Korea. If America retreats from Korea, Soviet Russia will do the job. Then Korea will be swallowed up by Communism, and there will be no more Free World. Even America will be the target of Communist invasion.

If America fails to do the job, it means Communism will annihilate the world civilization which God wants to form in Korea as the fruit of the whole world civilization, and America in that way will shatter that into naught. God will not let America escape, and He will have to allow Communism to prevail and be rampant all over the world. If America retreats from Japan and Korea, America will be the final target of Communism.

Already, Communists are sending some 20,000 people to Canada to invade America. From the Mexican border, they are preparing for the same thing. Communists will apply the same method which they have applied so far in Korea and Japan. America will fall prey to Communism, sooner or later. But consciously or not, America is getting hold of Korea without letting go, and in that way, without their being conscious of it, they can permit the world civilization to come to fruition in Korea so that God's will can be realized for the world.

Now do you realize the importance of Korea's role in God's providence? Even without the Unification Church, without Master born in Korea, Korea would have to play an important role in the world situation. Politically, you see that the Communist world and democratic world are fighting their last battle in Korea. In the Unification ideology, we extol democracy and any freedom-loving ideology.

So, Unification Thought and Unification ideology are the last ones to cover the whole world and bring it back to God. Democracy was born out of the soil of Christianity, but since Christianity is divided into so many denominations fighting against each other, the Unification Movement must come about as one final religion to absorb all other religious sects and Christian denominations into one unified whole. Thus, Unification Thought must be able to extol and absorb both democracy and Communism to make a unified world under God.

At this time, the desperate hope of God is twofold. Firstly, God did not want to have Christianity divided into so many hundreds of denominations. God would look for one person or group which can unite all Christian denominations and all religious sects into oneness. That's the first thing. Even Jesus wanted to do that. Even the Christian people want that. How can it fail?

If the Christian churches would open their gates, we will do the job and unite them into one. Those who keep their doors shut tight are the Christian ministers. They are the enemies of God at this point. The next hope of God or wish of God is for us to fight against the God-denying ideology of Communism and win over it. With the clear knowledge of God's will, I'm determined to fight through to win over Communism at all costs.

It is most logical and reasonable that in Korea, the Unification Movement and Unification Thought were born to be able to unify North Korea and South Korea, which is the symbolic unifying of the whole world through two opposing powers. On the external level, we have Panmunjon. That's the frontline both for God and Satan.

On the religious level, centering on the Unification Church, both God's side and the satanic side are fighting against each other. God's side is sure to win. Even on the national level, religion must play the most important role, and that's what I have been doing for the six months while I stayed in Korea this year. I had never made a public appearance in Korea.

It was only three years ago that I made my first public appearance -- not in Korea, but in America. What is the reason for that? As I said before, only the spiritual level of salvation reached the perfection level. On the physical side, it barely covered the second stage. On the external level or political level, centering on what nation should this have been done? (Israel!)

Now, on the physical level? (Korea!) Jesus failed to cover the perfection stage on the physical level in his day. We must be able to accomplish what was left unaccomplished by Jesus. I was working desperately in Korea. After World War II, we were under a Christian regime, and if the Christian world backed me up at that time, I could have made the restoration on the national level in Korea, and would have covered the whole world before I reached the age of 40.

At that time, America protected both Japan and Korea from Communist invasion. It depended solely on America, whether or not Japan and Korea had their independence at that time, because America was in the position of the Archangel. America, representing Western civilization, played that role. Orient and Occident, East and West are in the positions of subject and object.

In the East, people have more or less put more stress on spiritual things rather than on material things. The Western world represented the material side; especially America made great wealth, and as the custodian of God's wealth, it was supposed to distribute it to the weaker and poorer nations. And it did quite a good job, until the end of World War II.

America was blessed with material abundance, not because of America itself, but for the rest of the world. The material wealth was supposed to be given to the East, while the East gave spiritual things to the West, making give and take. America, without being conscious of that, was willing to economically help the weaker nations, the underprivileged nations.

That was done under the law of give and take. The Western world is being influenced by Oriental spirituality. There are more and more Western girls wanting to marry Eastern men. The hippie people are longing to go to the Eastern world, to live in underprivileged countries. They are longing for something spiritual.

Without your being conscious of it, your mind is being oriented that way, and you are looking for something out of the Eastern world for your spiritual food. This man Reverend Moon has absorbed all the essences of Eastern religion, and with the mainstream of Christian thought has formed a great ideology of Unification Thought. He wants to give it back to the Western world, and you are not willing to receive it.

I was going to back up President Nixon; if he did not resign from his post, the world would not have been like this. It looks as though Reverend Moon was in favor of President Nixon in vain, but it was God's will and we lost nothing. I was faced with quite a bit of opposition. Are you supporting my opinion? (Yes!) You are representing America and the Free World in supporting me.

Your forefathers came from the Old World, so in supporting me, you are including Europe, too. In American history, the American people killed many Native American Indians. Those were Asiatic people; they were yellow people. Here's a Korean man coming to the Western world to give the blessing of spiritual things. If the white people oppose me, then the colored people -- black and yellow -- will unite into one, and there will come a day when this great power will beat the white power.

Then there will be the end of the world. If I abandon the white people and go to the black world and witness to those people, concentrating on them, it will be much, much easier to get people. If I go to the American Indians and witness to those people, they will be easily on our side. But I'm here working for America, whose population is mostly white people, and if you people repel me, America's blessing will be taken away, I'm afraid. Are you going to hurt my heart and make me sad? (No!)

On the physical level, we are ready to accomplish what was left unaccomplished by Jesus Christ. What took place in Jesus' days also took place in Korea. In Jesus' days, both the chosen nation of the Israelites and the prepared Jewish religion did not cooperate with Jesus but opposed him. Likewise, in Korea, the Christian world, corresponding to Judaism of Jesus' day, and the Korean nation, representing the democratic world, both opposed our movement.

I had to go through a lot of hardship. Just as Jesus was crucified without making an excuse, without protesting, I was silent, not making any protest against their persecution. Some Christians even planned to kill me, and they slandered and persecuted me, using every possible means at their disposal, but I was silent. In Korean history, there have been many occult religions and spiritualists, and the people of Korea blamed us for what they had mistakenly done.

Why did Jesus Christ persevere and remain patient without attacking the opposing power? In attacking the opposing power, he had to kill or shatter the chosen nation of the Israelites. He could have lost the foundation of the chosen nation. That's why he couldn't do that.

Starting from the year 1960, within 21 years' time I have decided on three seven-year courses. The first seven-year course corresponds to the Old Testament Age. The second seven-year course corresponds to the New Testament Age. Towards the end of the second seven-year course in Korea, I had to win the victory both on the spiritual level and the physical level and pass on what I accomplished in Korea to the Western world and the whole world.

In doing that I have covered the individual level of things, family level of things, and national level of things, to connect them to the world level of things. And I'm now in America to build the world level of things in the spiritual way. America is the leading nation of the world. On the physical level, we have covered so far the last stage of the growth period, and from now on we are going to cover the final stage of the perfection period on the worldwide level. So, what we have left is our third seven-year course, in which we will cover the perfection stage both on the spiritual and physical levels.

During the coming three years, we are going to build our foundation on the physical level in America. After three more years, we are going to have it accomplished both on the physical and spiritual levels in the worldwide scope. You have your worldwide foundation on the spiritual level in the Christian world here in this country, and what we are going to do from now on is to build that anew on the physical level.

Centering on the bicentennial of your country, 1976, the previous three years and the coming three years are most important. At this turning point, we must be able to unite all the Christian denominations and religious sects to make a strong unified oneness, and get over all the difficulties and corruption coming about in this nation, or else this nation's destiny is doomed to be a sad one.

Three more years and we will reach 1978. That's the most crucial year in the history of America. Now do you realize at what point of history we are situated? (Yes!) We are at the very crucial turning point. At the turning point of Korean history, when Korea was in turmoil and chaos, I appeared on the public scene and turned it to the right side.

Likewise in America, where the whole society is corrupted and in chaos and confusion, the American youth under my command must mobilize themselves to save this nation or else your destiny will be terrible. You must be awakened to this fact. You must be like your forefathers who founded this nation for religious freedom.

You are now at the point of reformation to save this nation, and you must play the role of your Puritan forefathers, dynamically determined to build a new world; you are going to do the job. From here on, our work will be straight towards the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven. After the completion of our third seven-year course, we are going to be able to absorb the rest of the nations of the world under the subjective ideology of Godism, or Unification Thought.

Before anything else, you must be able to fill up Yankee Stadium. Our final goal is our Washington Rally, in which we will establish the top record, breaking the rest of the records so far set. We must mobilize our whole selves, shedding tears and blood for this purpose. And you must fight and overcome any fatigue or exhaustion. So, from now on, I will push you hard. Are you going to complain? (No!)

Jesus, on the cross, prayed for the Kingdom to be realized. For the nation of the Israelites he died on the cross. But we must be ready to die for the sake of the whole world. We are going to do greater things than Jesus did. If we have to die on the way, then we are destined for the Heavenly Kingdom, while Jesus upon death entered only the Paradise level. So, our mission is greater than what Jesus did in his day. Is it worth risking your life to do the job of the salvation of the world? This is your mission, to be accomplished during the third seven-year course.

You must not forget that we are on the altar of God, and we are going to be the sacrifice here. Up to the present, Western people hated Eastern people, and Eastern people thought of Western people as their enemies or they were anti-Western-something like that. But by your loving me, you are loving the whole Eastern part of the world, and by my loving you, it is the symbol of the Easterners loving the Westerners.

By giving and taking, and by East and West being united into one, we are going to realize God's Kingdom on Earth. This great thing which has begun in America has never been done by anyone else in past history. Our group is the only group to do the work, and we must accomplish it in your lifetime.

Let us make America the altar where Cain and Abel will meet as brothers, as twins, or as one body, and make the world into one unified Kingdom of God. I want you to accomplish the job with all your might, with all your sincerity, and with all your zeal and energy. I want you to win the victory and success.
