Those who are seeing me for the first time, please raise your hands. Are you the new crop of the Unification Church? Can anybody read - the title I wrote on the blackboard?

When you look at all the people in the world, are they just the same or all different kinds? Let's consider the sparrows. Is there only one kind of sparrow, or are there many different kinds? What about the language of sparrows in different countries? Do you think they use the same language? What about cows? There are obviously many types of cows and many different colors and shades of cows. When they "moo,' do they do that in different languages?

What about this man standing here beside me, Bo Hi Pak? Why does he have to interpret my words to you? In the original world, is it natural to have an interpreter beside you or to speak directly? Therefore, do I have Dr. Pak standing beside me because I like it or because I have to?

As you can see, there is obviously a problem in our world today. Imagine if all people spoke the same language. There would have been fewer world problems, such as war and crime.

In the beginning of human history, do you think there were many pairs of human ancestors in many parts of the world? God created all things but He created one being supreme, with the most sophisticated development. Would He have started with many duplications of that being or one set, one prototype? If the Supreme Being desired to have a perfect, absolute, supreme form of creation, He would begin with just one.

What is the one thing which the Supreme Being would like to own? What one thing is the finest, the best, the ultimate thing for God? God longs to have true love. When you talk about true love, it always denotes two parties. No one can dwell in love all by himself; you cannot just speak the word "love" over and over again and experience it. Likewise, for God to engender love, He must have an object.

What kind of object has God been yearning for? Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in the United States. Has God been yearning for that tall mountain as the object of His love? Do you think God has been thinking about a beautiful bird as an object because it can sing and fly so well? No, He has been yearning for true man and true woman. What is the definition of a true man? Is he special because he has an eye on top of his nose? Does a true man have two extra shoulders so that he can have four arms instead of two? That would certainly be a powerful man, wouldn't it? No, rather than all these things, we know that a true man is the man whom God loves and in order to be loved by God, he must resemble God. He must be that ideal object for God.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you must resemble God Himself. When we speak of humanity, we speak of both men and women. What do you think God is more like, a man or more like a woman? God bears a resemblance to both men and women. So there are two objects of God: men and women. Are the two objects the same or different? Do they have the same or different features?

Are these two different beings, men and women, always trying to pull away from each other, or do they always try to come together from their opposite positions? What do you think? Are they supposed to come together or go away from each other? When are they supposed to be perfectly united-when they are just crawling babies? When they are little children playing on the playground? No, it is only when their minds and bodies are perfectly united that they are supposed to come together as men and women.

Thus when men and women reach a certain age, they start to experience feelings of love. They want to know and understand love and they want to be together. Why do men and women want to be united? The reason is very important and simple. As individuals, a man or a woman cannot be a total object to God. Men represent one half of God and women represent the other half. So in order to reflect the total image of God, men and women have to come together.

Just as we have two eyes that can focus properly only together, when men and women come together in unity, their focus will also converge properly. Men and women are supposed to come together in that kind of unity, which we call love unity. Then God can come in; the dwelling of God is with them. When men and women come together in such a manner, God will embrace them saying, "Indeed, you are my image, my perfect image. I take delight and joy in you"

Then to whom does love belong? Love belongs to God, to man, and to woman. Love is the uniting factor of all three. When men and women are horizontally united in love they can be vertically united with God. That is the fair way. Otherwise, if God just came down to men, the women would complain; or if He just came down to women, the men would complain. God doesn't want to be unfair, so it is only when men and women are rejoicing together in love that God can come down and dwell with them.

Love is eternal and permanent; it must have a storehouse. Men and women are meant to be that storehouse; love is meant to be held by them. So love does not really exist within just a man or just a woman, but rather between them; both must possess it together. That is the whole purpose of the differences between men and women, according to the original ideal.

In the world today, particularly in America, love has become a "fun" thing, and people go hopping around from one bed to another. One night, one person, another night, another person. Many young people think that is the way they can fulfill their happiness. What do you think? Is that God's definition of a human being? Such a person doesn't really deserve to be a part of humanity.

The world has gone far away from God's basic principles of love; people have let themselves fall below the animalistic realm of love. But the Unification Church has reestablished the moral principle of human love. If this were merely a theory, still we would have to accept it because of its logic; however, knowing that it is truth, how glad we are to accept it and live by it!

The love of God is absolute. In order to engender such love, God needs an absolute man and an absolute woman. He needs to bring them together in love into absolute unity. This is the total principle of original love. This is the nucleus of unity. To obtain this nucleus we need these three components: God, man and woman. How absolute they are in unity!

Where did you come from? How were you born? The important thing is whether you are the fruit of just fun love or the fruit of serious, true love. That is the key question. It is a tragedy if one is born as the byproduct of promiscuous love. Men and women pursue their fun love and suddenly someone says, "Oh, I made a mistake" That mistake means a baby will be born. If we were born in that way, then it is most tragic. This is very fundamental.

What are the most important and precious words we can think of? A scholar might say, "The most important words are my scholarly works, my dissertation on economic theory" Many people believe that economics are most basic and therefore most important to everyone. Let's say that you wanted to become a university student, but you wanted to pursue a special major. If there were something like the Department of True Love Studies, wouldn't you apply? Is there any university with a department of true love?

However, you Moonies are enrolled in a university with a Department of True Love. You experience many ups and downs and some people get tired and trunk out, but those who are trying to succeed in the True Love Department are called the Moonies. You are attending True Love University, right? True Love University and the True Love Department offer probably the most difficult courses you can ever imagine, but then they are the most worthwhile. Even if you lost an arm and a leg, you would still want to pursue these studies, wouldn't you? Even if you were nothing more than just a stump of a person, you would still want to graduate from the True Love Department. Today you are listening to the college president who has come to preach to you on the true love theory. Do you like it or not?

We are talking about an absolute standard in which there is no room for compromise or discussion. The true love principle is uncompromising. The opinions of different scholars and experts simply do not have any bearing on the absolute true love principle. Those who want to receive their diploma from True Love University, raise your hands, please.

I know that many times you have thought, "Why does Reverend Moon lead us this way, which is so alien to our country?" This has happened many times. Is it good or not? We are pursuing the absolute standard of true love; therefore, there is no room for compromise. True love cannot be negotiated. Imagine a loving husband and wife enjoying their relationship-would they want a third party to come in and discuss their love with them? No, they want to maintain that love just between the two of them. They do not want to decide matters of true love in a democratic forum.

I have always been seeking for one thing: true love. The way of true love must be established for the individual, the family, society, nation and world. True love is meant to be practiced within the framework of the family. Through the family, all other important levels of love can be achieved, such as the love of one's neighbor, altruism for one's country and the world, as well as saintly love. We have talked about all kinds of love, but family true love is connected to every one of them.

This tree I am drawing here represents true love. It has many branches, some of which go all across the world. But all those branches are connected to the same tree and have the same roots; therefore their quality is the same. The energy flowing from the roots goes to every leaf and every branch in the tree and vice versa; they have give and take that way. True love has many, many flowers, many branches, many leaves. All people were supposed to be born into this true love family tree but they were not. That is the great tragedy of all tragedies.

Springing from the true love root, a branch goes toward the west, where it becomes white people; when it goes to the east, it becomes yellow people; to the south, it becomes black people; to the north, it becomes Eskimos. The human family is supposed to be connected to the same, universal root. All people were supposed to be attached to the one most important institution which God created: the family. That is the essential building block.

The elements of family love -- love between husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters -- were supposed to be exactly the same, regardless of where those families were located, or whether they were white families, black families, yellow or Eskimo families. True love is the common denominator that brings all people together into that family unity. True love is the common denominator for east, west, north or south.

Therefore, the true measure of your happiness is whether you are close to the central standard of true love. Happiness or unhappiness cannot be determined by how much money you have but only by the purity with which you exercise true love. If a third party is trying to invade a marriage, those spouses cannot be happy people. When the purity between husband and wife is preserved, love is preserved and that is the happy couple. This is how happiness can be measured. This standard applies equally, whether you are black, yellow or white.

"Absolute" in love means only one. Therefore, a couple cannot be involved with other people. In the Unification Church, the marriage principle is absolute. Once you are blessed, that goes on for eternity. Your couple shall be preserved as a true family coming out of this root. I know it is not easy in many cases, but no matter how difficult it may be, would you like to pursue my teaching and way of life? Or would you like to be like a butterfly, flitting from one love to another? You are following this way because that is how you can be connected to God and possess God's absolute love. Once we possess the love of God, we possess everything in the universe. With true love, we can even control God. How much happiness that can bring!

Reverend Moon is a smart man; if there were some easy or convenient way, I would have found it and gone that route a long time ago, but there is no such thing. Therefore, I have been investing my entire life to live and propagate this way of love. In that case, do you think Mother is a happy woman? What about me, am 1 happy? Why are we happy people? It is because we are united centered upon God's love, which is absolute.

This is how we understand the concept of True Parents. Centering upon the absolute love of God, the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, were supposed to unite absolutely in love and become husband and wife. Then they were to become parents. That is the way humanity was supposed to have begun-from such true parents. If you do not know the definition of true parents, you have no way to know the definition of true children.

We have come to the Unification Church in order to become true children. All of mankind was born into the fallen lineage. In order to transfer our lineage to become true children, we must be engrafted into the true tree which is the True Parents' tree. There is no other way to change your lineage.

Let's look at the engrafting process. First you've got to find the true olive tree; that is the tree of the Messiah. Unless the Messiah comes, there can be no true olive tree and no engrafting process. What is the end of the world? It is the time of the coming of the Messiah. That is when the engrafting process becomes possible. Then, throughout the whole wild olive tree farm, trunks will be cut everywhere. As you know, God does things according to His timetable. Unless the preparation of the true olive tree is ready, He will not cut the wild olive trees because the timing would be wrong. But at the end of the world, we will see both phenomena: the preparation of the true olive tree and the cutting of the wild olive trees.

What is the Unification Church, then? The Unification Church is a branch of the true olive tree. Therefore, when the Unification Church is blooming and spreading around the world under the parenthood of God, that means the grafting process is ready on every level: the social level, the national level, the worldwide level.

God is moving through all the levels of society today, shaking them up. Many people are saying pessimistically that the world is dying. There are cries from the communist world as well as the democratic world and even the religious world. That means there is another outcry for life-people are ready for the engrafting process. The Unification Church represents the true olive tree and, therefore, it is our responsibility to go out as soon as God cuts the wild olive trees and get to those places, engrafting health into those roots. Do you follow?

My sermon today is on the way of true children, or the children's road and responsibility. As I said, your responsibility is engrafting the true olive branch into the world. The wild olive trees have been cut, and now our responsibility is to go out into the world and engraft the true olive tree into those roots. If at least two-thirds of a tree is preserved, it can survive; it can get enough nourishment from its roots. But if 50 percent is cut away, that tree will die. So before the trees die, true branches must be engrafted into them.

This is why I am busy sending out branches to South America, Central America, Africa, Europe, Asia, all over the world. The missionaries may complain, "Oh, Father, we are helpless, yet you send us into a remote country all by ourselves?" But the branch has to be, in a sense, autonomous. You must go out and find the root and engraft the branch yourself. Throughout the world, cries are ringing out for the true olive tree branches. We are the only ones who have those branches, so we have to get out there. Before they die, we have to engraft ourselves into their roots firmly and give them life.

Therefore, I have declared this an emergency time period in the Unification movement. This is the time for the wife to go out to the world with more love than that which she has for her husband, and to love other people and give them life. The husband will do the same. This is the time. We must become the most loving and great parents so our expression of love must be nobler and deeper than anyone. Instead of embracing our own children at this time, we should be going out to prepare for the generations to come. This is the time for this kind of historical activity.

Even if you are engrafted onto the true root, you need to have three branches; otherwise, that engrafted tree will die. As Unification families, you must reach out to families of all different skin colors-to the people of the whole world- and give them life by connecting them to the same root of True Parents.

The nourishment of the tree will be distributed fairly. Thus where there are more limbs and more leaves, there will be more activity and that area will receive the most nourishment. Where there is little activity and little growth, nourishment will not be attracted. The love of God is always flowing to the place where there is more activity. That's most natural. Therefore, the active places will flourish while the inactive places will flounder. God wants to give more energy to the people who are doing the most, bringing the most results. This is a law of nature. The root will provide more strength where there is more pulling power.

The branches go up toward the clear blue sky and the beautiful sunshine, while the roots go down deeper into the dirty soil in order to gain more nourishment. In that way the roots and branches coexist. When you move the roots from one place to another, the branches will also be moved; they will go together and flourish together. In order to survive, a branch must be united with the roots; it cannot exist by itself. The branches and the roots cooperate with one another in order to create a healthy tree.

By the same token, the people who shall eventually govern the world are the ones who have the highest ideals, like the branches reaching up into the blue sky, and at the same time who are willing to dig down deeper into the dark, difficult places. When both characteristics are found in a group of people, they will truly flourish.

When we analyze the world today, Western civilization is something like the branches, striving to go up higher and higher towards more sunshine and blue sky. The Oriental culture, on the other hand, is like the roots, digging down deeper and deeper, trying to gain deeper meaning and therefore more nourishment. These are the opposite characteristics of Western and Eastern civilizations.

So far, Western civilization has been rather boastful, looking down on the Oriental cultures and saying, "They are dirty people and look at how clumsy and backward they are" But Western civilization must recognize that Oriental cultures have a great depth and quality of energy. That sort of energy will go on and on and will flourish no matter what happens. But branches can break off easily when the tree experiences turbulence.

Western civilization, like the branches, cannot create its own roots. But in the Oriental civilization, like the roots, there is always the power to make new branches and to continue to grow. Therefore, Western civilization is looking eastward for hope and to learn how to survive. Look at how the hippie movement spurned cleanliness and expressed their disgust with modern Western culture. We can see that they were emulating many Oriental values.

Many people in the West today have a tremendous interest in Japan; they are watching what Japan does, seeking to learn how they have been so successful. This is in a way, a survival tactic of Western civilization. Therefore, my direction to you Japanese members is this: do not become Americanized Japanese. The American people must themselves become Orientalized.

I am not saying this out of any sort of prejudice. I am speaking from the point of view of providential destiny. East and West are supposed to work together in harmony, like branches and roots, and when they come together, both must flourish. In the Unification Church there are certain Oriental traditions that you have learned to follow. For example, you are sitting on the floor now. Some people may think that Reverend Moon is primitive and a destroyer of Western civilization. However, do you think that I am harmonizing East and West, allowing each to learn from the other? What do you think? Doesn't Reverend Moon want to see Westerners align themselves more with the providential destiny? I am teaching you the universal way.

What I am preaching right now has a prophetic quality. As time goes by, what I am saying will be recognized as truth by more and more people.

Today I am speaking with a special purpose and meaning because this celebration of Children's Day is the first Unification Church celebration since my victory in Danbury. Therefore, we must renew ourselves, beginning with the president of the church and extending to all the members of America. We must make a new commitment today to grasp a new understanding of God and develop a new unity with the True Parents. Amen?

We are all privileged to belong to the True Parents. True Parents are our root, the root of love. Therefore, with this privilege we can go forward limitlessly, truly fulfilling our purpose of connecting the whole world with the true root and creating a new, moral, God-centered world. That is our responsibility.

The Unification Church, therefore, is pursuing the absolute standard in everything-absolute men and women, absolute family, absolute culture, one absolute language. The Korean language and culture has become very important within our movement and it will soon become important on a global level.

Why should we learn Korean? Heavenly Father installed the True Parents on the earth in a specific land and it happened to be Korea. God has planted true love on the earth through the True Parents; therefore, their language was meant for everybody. We can say that God first spoke the language of true love in Korea, through the True Parents. For that reason, that language has become our mother tongue.

Thus the Korean language is the language of the motherland of love. When all people are pursuing true love, that language must become the mother tongue of everyone. Besides knowing how to speak that language, you also need to know how to write it. Many members around the world desire to be blessed with Korean men and women. Why is that? Korean men and women speak the language in which the true love of God was first spoken. That is a most precious reason, because with this language, you can get down to the deepest corner of your roots, all the way to the central root. You can ultimately reach the deepest place in the heart of God. Our original mind knows this.

You must be proud that you are participating in the Unification movement, which is going after only the absolute standard. There is no halfway standard, but everything is absolute-absolute words, absolute love, absolute actions. This is the way you are committed to go, so you must be very proud of this.

We are on a treasure hunt, looking through a labyrinth for the passage to true love. That is the romantic life of the Unification Church. More than anything else, the most important undertaking is going through the labyrinth and finding true love. Each step is so precious, so vital. Even if it took one thousand years to take one more step, still you cannot avoid this path. You must go and find the way to true love. I am the forerunner along this way and you are following. Do you think you can go your own way or the way that you like in order to find the treasure?

Do you think it is necessary to make a great amount of noise or put on a great show for other people? What do you think? No, you don't need any cheerleaders around you. This is a path which you have to go all by yourself. It is an internal path which is very lonely at times. But knowing that you are moving toward the greatest treasure, you can have the greatest satisfaction going this way.

Western members sometimes speak too much, while Eastern members many times are too silent. But Unificationists must become the balanced point. We know the East and we know the West, so we must balance between them. Know the advantages of both worlds and strive for the best of both of them.

The journey for blessed couples doesn't end with this life here on earth; it continues and improves throughout eternity. We are not talking about material gain but rather gaining the personification of true love. You will become living monuments of true love. That is the single, absolute goal.

When men and women have come together and united with God, no power under the sun can break them apart. God and men and women, if they are united and if they act with absolute conviction, have enough power to move the universe. The one absolute element is true love. Only love can move the entire cosmos. I do not want anything else other than true love and my mission is to create a true love highway for everyone so all can reach the goal of true love. Eventually we will create the Kingdom of God on earth. Such a highway will resemble the true love tree. There is a main highway, the branch highways, and little roads, each ending in some cul-de-sac, resembling the leaves. The true love highway network is not just empty talk or theory-it is attainable. particularly after my victory in Danbury, this can be accomplished here on earth right now.

If someone starts out at the top, at one of the cul-de-sacs or leaves, then he can travel toward the bigger roads, the bigger branches, and ultimately join the superhighway, going all the way to the heart of God. Leading into the super true love highway, Dr. Durst represents U.S. Route 1, so he must guide a lot of true love into that highway. Then there are the regional directors and the fifty state leaders, all interconnecting.

But suppose the person in charge of U.S. Route 1 decided, "I'm an American highway. I don't want to worry about following the superhighway" That would be a crazy idea and it would not work. The ideal is always to bring the branch highways into perfect connection with the superhighway of true love. For someone to reach all the way to God, U.S. Route I alone is not sufficient. You've got to pass through the tollgate that takes you onto the superhighway.

This is like the roots of a tree which dig down deeply but still remain connected with the highest pans that reach to heaven. As each root develops, it relates with the other roots. We could liken this to our national movements in the United States, Japan, England, Germany, South America, or Africa. Only through true love can all these roots be joined together to reach the heavenly throne. All the nations and national characters must be harmonized in the center so that every national movement and characteristic can touch the trunk line. There must be one uniting point.

Any country which tries to follow only its own characteristics and tries to bend the trunk line in its own direction will simply fail. Such a thing cannot happen. The trunk line begins from the True Parents and moves straight up all the way to Heaven's throne in one straight line.

Adam and Eve sprang from God's roots, but since the human fall all kinds of diverse and perverted cultures have come into being. The True Father's mission is to bring all these perverted individuals, families and cultures into one original point, into one straight line back to God. Therefore, the straight line established by the True Parents must be joined by the rest of the world. They cannot possibly just go their own way, because that straight line is the absolute standard.

If the True Father were swayed by someone else's advice or opinions, whether political or spiritual, then the line would bend and the whole ideal of the Kingdom of God would eventually break down. But when the entire world is united around one central line, there is no room for Satan. Satan has to be automatically expelled from the world.

I went to Danbury in order to expedite this providence. That line which started from the original root in the Garden of Eden must go in a straight line all the way to the Kingdom of Heaven. By the suffering of the modern-day crucifixion, that has been expedited.

Therefore, if you face a barrier, even prison, you cannot dodge it or shy away from it. You have to penetrate that barrier and break it down. If I had tried to avoid prison and had run away to Korea or Japan or South America, I could not have broken that barrier. This is the same reason that Jesus prayed on the Mount of Gethsemane, "Father, if it be possible, let this cup be taken from me; nevertheless, not my will but Thine be done"

If God has a certain plan for you to dramatically break through a certain barrier or difficulty, you must not avoid it. You must stick with it and break through it to the other side.

Satan doesn't like the place of sacrifice and suffering. He is very boastful and arrogant and he likes to live luxuriously. He loves to complain and he thrives on jealousy, vanity, and greed. You have to understand the ways in which you attract Satan and the ways you can repel him. Prison is a collection of people who constantly complain and blame others for their troubles. Nobody in prison likes to admit his guilt; he always has someone else to blame for being there. But when I entered prison, I was silent. I said to myself, "I am not going to go along with this crowd. I am grateful to God to be here and I'm not going to utter one word of complaint"

I knew why I was in prison. It was the most important barrier that God wanted me to penetrate. Throughout history, many martyrs and saints died for the sake of their religion, for the sake of God's love. True love is greater than life itself. Therefore, for the sake of the tradition of true love, you have to go forward and make sacrifices, even if you might lose your life. The absolute standard is this: if you have to die for the sake of true love, you must choose that route. That is my uncompromising principle. Do you understand?

One thing is certain: in the entire history of humanity, no one has persevered more or suffered more for the sake of true love than I have. I have truly lived an uncompromising way of life for this purpose. I am ready even now to give up my life. Ultimately the world is destined to come under the domain of true love. True love and the power of the universe have protected me throughout my life and that is the reason I have come this far. Now I am ready to guide the world to join in true love.

I was born for this mission and I have persevered and suffered for this purpose. Now the couple has been created which is unique in all history because we won the victory for true love. For that reason, that couple is called the True Parents. True Parents are the ones who are victorious with true love.

You are in a position to not only know and serve and love the True Parents, but also to protect them. You also have a mission to fulfill, the mission of creating Heaven on earth. This is truly the most remarkable responsibility.

We are, in a way, swimming in the ocean of true love. We are swimming across the ocean, going around the world. Ultimately we are going to go through the golden gate and reach our goal. We are born for that way of life.

Men and women are supposed to be born in true love, reared in true love, educated in true love, married and have children in true love, become the lords of all creation in true love, and then be elevated into Heaven. That was supposed to be the true way of human life. The Bible says, "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free" Now that you know the truth, you are on the way to achieving total inner, spiritual freedom.

You know that you can go only one way. You must follow the absolute standard; you cannot adjust it to your own tastes or negotiate with it or compromise it. But once you achieve this standard within yourself, you will be able to go everywhere, to enjoy anything in the entire universe. That is the way life should be.

Today, on Children's Day, we should pledge to follow the True Parents absolutely. If you are determined not to complain and not to get tired but to be always full of vibrant determination, then Satan will be smashed. I am very proud of that kind of determination.

The most important thing is that God has given us True Parents. Now we have to fulfill our responsibility. Let us raise our hands high and make our pledge to God. Thank you.

The Day of Victory of Heaven

Father and Mother cut the celebration cake after Father's speech at Belvedere on the Day of Victory of Heaven, October 4, 1985.

Note: Father spoke almost a third of his speech in English. Our attempts to decipher the English from the audiotapes is a poor substitute for the actual experience of being there in person.

The people who are gathered together this morning are called Unification Church members. The word unification in English doesn't describe the meaning fully, but the Korean word, tong il, means education leading into a unified goal. The word church, kyo hoe, is comprised of two Chinese characters. Hoe means a meeting or congregation, and kyo means teaching or education. Therefore church literally means a congregational meeting for education. Education in what? Education in the religious truth. What is religion? In Korean we call it chung kyo. Chung is the word for backbone or beam. So religion means the beam teaching, in other words, the teaching of the central truth, the fundamental truth.

Therefore, when we say Tong Il Kyo Hoe, Unification Church, the name contains all the explanation that is needed. Unification Church stands for the highest teaching, the deepest teaching, and the ultimate teaching, which will unify people and lead them into one goal. Why do you live? What is the purpose of your life? To fulfill the responsibility of the Unification Church centered upon God. That includes everything.

When you know the full meaning of the words Unification Church, you know that the Unification Church teaches the central truth of all religions. The important thing is this: It is not based on human teaching alone. The Unification Church is a congregational meeting between God and men. Who is the center of the congregation -- the members of the Unification Church or God? God. Therefore, wherever we go, the center of our activities and meetings is always God. In the existing Christian churches, who is the center -- God or Jesus? Many are not sure. Sometimes they feel God is the center, sometimes Jesus. But even Jesus did not come upon his own will. He was sent by God. Everything is manifested in a subject-object relationship.

Is there any individual out there who is perfected? Are there any societies or tribes that are perfected in the eyes of God? Is there any nation perfected? Any world? The pope, the head of the Catholic Church, has hundreds of millions of people under him. He would say, "Well, I'm perfected in the sight of God!' But from the point of view of God and Rev. Moon, he is not.

Our Ultimate Purpose

When God created the universe, did He create only men? Or did He create something else other than male? What do you think? Did God create the female simply because the male is lonely, simply to give him a friend? Or did He want to give Adam something more than just a friend? Anyone must answer, "Well, God created men and women to get married and become united so that they can love and multiply in a family."

The purpose of the Unification Church is the same as the purpose of the first couple in the Garden of Eden. First of all, men and women need to be educated in the purpose of life. Then when men and women marry, that's unification. And then they go on into a fulfilling life, leading others. That's the meaning of the Unification Church: educating, unifying, leading. This is the path toward perfection.

For what ultimate purpose are we educated, united in marriage, and called to lead others? For the joy of God. So that all people will be joyful, the spirit world will be joyful, and all of nature will be joyful. Is it joyful to be all alone, jumping around and saying to yourself, "I am joyful, I am joyful"? Does that make you happy? The word joyful will never be born unless male and female come together in unified harmony, stimulation, and give and take. Otherwise there is no such thing as joy.

If there were a world in which men and women were living together in loving harmony, and a bachelor lived there all by himself, would his be a joyful life? The bachelor thinks, "Well, I'm a man. I don't need anybody. I can do everything myself." But would he experience joy in going out and buying his own steak for dinner and eating it all by himself? God does not want anyone to have that kind of life. God is stimulated by the society of fellowship, the society of give and take on individual, family, society, national, and world level.

Joy Is Round

When you are talking about an ideal being or an ideal world of joy, you must include front and rear, left and right, and up and down. All the directions must be there. Otherwise there's no such thing as an ideal. When you are talking about an ideal, you are not talking about a flat sheet of paper but something global and round -- that's the idea. The Unification Church is looking for joy, wholesome joy, total joy.

Joyful does not mean individual joy. Joy means harmony. Harmony means give and take. Give and take means with more than one. Where does the joyful world begin? With men and women. But the love between men and women alone would not be perfect joy. Their joy should spread to their children, their parents, their neighbors, and then into the society.

Some people say, "Why do we need children?" But in order to create the mainstream of joy, the past, present, and future need to be connected. Where can we find that? In the family. In the family you can find grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren, representing past, present, and future. That formula cannot be changed by the ages. This unchanging formula or tradition is passed down within the family system. Your parents, your husband or wife, and your children are like your guiding angels -- three sets of angels for your heaven. Those three elements will lead you into heaven. We learn from our parents, we learn from our husband or wife, we learn from our children. This is the real family tradition.

Based on the definition of the joyful family, are American families passing or failing? America is a corrupting nation. I did not want to allow America to be a seed to corrupt the rest of the world. When you go into many American homes, you will see an aged grandparent, so old, so lonely, so miserable, so pale, sitting there. That grandparent has nothing to smile about all day. And husbands and wives are going about their lives in different directions. They don't even meet each other. The children are left to go off by themselves. This is the saddest thing. You find the saddest families in America.

There is a heavenly law in the Unification Church and that is restoration by indemnity. America will be restored by indemnity. To do that a white family should take in an older black couple, for instance. The white young people should love the old black couple as if they were their own grandparents. If people can go to the extremes to practice love, and if they can really overcome and be joyful under those circumstances, then America's problems will be cured.

We Have To Unify Extremes

Loving your grandparents is important. From your grandparents you learn about tradition, about history, and about your background, so you can root yourself to the spirit world. And your great-, great-, great-, great-, great-grandparent is God. We have to unify the extremes of the extreme. When you dig down, the deepest place is the heart of God. And your newest offspring represents the future, your posterity. By loving children you are learning how to love the world. So all of these extremes need to be connected in one joyful, wholesome system.

What is going to connect the extremes? Not the nation, but the family. This is the formula and this is the yardstick. Everybody is measured by this family yardstick. With this kind of formula, the family harvest is ripened and put into a beautiful package and stored. That storage is called heaven. You are judged and measured by how you fulfill the family ideal, and from that judgment you are either elevated or lowered. You will come to deserve either the lowest hell or the highest heaven. You have to pass through quality control and be graded as either first quality, second quality, inferior quality, or flunked quality.

People commit sin with their eyes, their nose, their mouth, and their ears. A husband who looks at his wife not with a loving eye but with a hateful eye will find himself in spirit world with one eye. People who go after satanic sounds will find themselves deaf in spirit world. Those who speak evil all the time will find that they have no mouths. If you commit a crime with a certain part of your body, you will find yourself without that part in spirit world. Exactly the way you acted upon the earth, you will find retribution in the next life. In other words, you cannot deceive anybody in spirit world. What you have sown, you will reap.

What is marriage? Marriage is education in unity. The man learns about the world of women and the woman learns about the world of men. Marriage is like entering into a new school -- the school of the opposite sex. You will get a report card. If you can make your husband or wife absolutely happy you will get a grade of 100. Everybody is working toward getting 100 points.

Become A Slave Of Love

When the wife is continually nagging, nagging, nagging, the good husband doesn't say, "Don't do that!" The good husband will say, "Darling, darling, I understand!" The good husband is the servant of love. A slave of love. From this we can explain God. God is the highest possible king, the most powerful king, but his essence is love. Therefore, God walks down the road of the servant. That is the philosophy of God, of Rev. Moon, and of Moonies.

With this family love you can travel into timeless space, to the past, present, and future. Blood can run everywhere, from the bottom of your feet up to the top of your brain. By the same token, with love you can travel through timeless space, anywhere. How wonderful is the authority of love!

How about you? Become the servant of love, become even the slave of love -- that is the road to happiness. A dignified grandfather with a long beard may find his children fighting. He will say, "No, my children, you shouldn't do that. I will serve you. Let me be your servant." When his grandchildren are fighting, he will say, "Oh, my grandchildren, please don't fight. I am your grandfather. I love you very much. I am ready to serve you." In other words, this grandfather is taking the role of the mediator. That is the role of the servant.

That is exactly what I did after my prison sentence. America put me in jail. Did I say, "I hate you. I'm going to knock you down and bite you and send you to the bottom of hell!" No. I said, "America, I will still come out serving you. I love America"

This is the 45th day after I was released from prison, so a total of 44 days have elapsed since then. The number 44 is a heavenly four position number which has been taken by Satan up until now. So I am trying to clear up that number on the basis of the family. That's why I have spoken about the ideal family and about the joyful world and God's goal.

The Role Of God

What is God and who is God? God is the servant of love, the slave of love, coming down to serve humanity for the happiness of mankind. This is God's challenge: to educate humanity centered upon His love. In our human society there are different levels, such as slave, servant, and son, and there is a certain social system. But there is no connection between them because satanic love divided us. The role of God is to connect the entire divided social system on all levels and unify them under true love.

This is the Day of Victory of Heaven -- an incredible meaning has gone into this day. When we are talking about the victory of spirit world, or the victory of God, we have to talk about the victory of love, because God's victory means only one thing -- the victory of the love of God. When satanic love is governing a territory, it belongs to Satan; when the love of God is governing, that territory belongs to God. So there is a territorial dispute. How can we take more and more satanic territories over to the territory of the love of God? That is the question.

There are eight levels. First, at the very bottom of the social level is servant of servant. Then servant, then adopted son or daughter, then stepson or stepdaughter, then Eve, then Adam, then God, then true love. Every echelon was invaded by satanic love. They all became enemies of each other. Our task is to break through each barrier, and to unify with a higher level centering on love. Ultimately we reach true love through eight degrees. The Principle teaches us this path of restoration. True Parents are restoring this, and God is restoring this, centering upon love.

The sovereignty of love has been lost here in America. Satan's love has always been in control; he controls all of the churches and all of the families. I came to America to restore the sovereignty of love. My mission and the Unification movement's mission is the same thing: to plant the love of God, to resurrect the American churches, and to restore the family system in this country.

Unity Of Enemy Nations

The two cultures, Eastern and Western, have come to the crossroads. This is God's will. Western civilization is going down, and a new culture, a unified civilization, is dawning in the East, centered upon God. People might laugh at this statement today. But later they will see that this is the juncture of human history.

[Here Father explains in length that since Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel all became enemies in the beginning, the appearance of four dispensational enemy nations at the end of the world is inevitable: Korea representing Adam, Japan representing Eve, America representing the Abel-type archangel and Germany representing the Cain-type archangel These former enemy nations must unite centering upon America, the central Christian nation today. That is why Father is bringing Korean, Japanese, and European leaders to America. From here, the Kingdom of Heaven will start. If we don't make the foundation of unity in America, we cannot make the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the mission of the Unification Church.]

The enemy nations are gathered together under one teaching -- true love and True Parents. Therefore we are going to find our own land, the land of Canaan. This is what the entire mobilization is all about at this time. Unification Church means educating people and creating the worldwide foundation in America, where all the world's countries are represented.

We are teaching a new direction. When the people understand this direction they will ultimately follow. This is not the time to stay home. If you do, you won't survive. If you do not work for the ideal world, I will accuse you! If no one else persecutes you, I will persecute you. This is God's providential requirement.

A New Beginning

The Day of Victory of Heaven was originally installed on Oct. 4, 1976. The providence was supposed to have unfolded according to God's plan during the last seven years. However, because of the court battles and all kinds of opposition, the dispensational moment of victory has been delayed for seven years. This is the eighth year after I installed the Day of Victory of Heaven. We are marking today a new beginning.

In the year 1945 Christianity was supposed to have accepted me and united with me. Upon such unity, God's dispensation would have unfolded at that time. But because that was not done, I created a new foundation and initiated the Unification movement. Now today, forty years later, on the victory of Danbury, the Unification Church and the True Parents have become united and I am declaring truly the Day of Victory of Heaven. Today, Oct. 4, 1985, is the new beginning of the Day of Victory of Heaven, signifying the final chapter of the dispensation.

When the harvest season comes, everybody goes out and harvests; otherwise the rain might come and all the grain will be lost. Everybody goes out into the field -- father, mother, children, it doesn't make a difference. This is the harvest season mobilization. When we understand the historical impact and meaning of it, you know this is the final battle, the final showdown, the grand finale of the dispensation of God.

Have you made an individual foundation? No, you don't have that kind of foundation. You don't even have a family foundation. You don't have a tribe. You don't have a nation. You don't have the world, or the cosmos. Only the True Parents have indemnified all historical situations. I ask all Unification members to move out into the world situation, not merely remaining in an individual or family situation. You should feel, "I want to imitate all of Father's indemnification!'

I Conquered Every Possible Barrier

Now you have heard the message. The Day of Victory of Heaven has been newly installed upon the foundation of Father's victory in Danbury. I have become the symbol of victory. Nobody can get into heaven without first going through the model, the symbol. For that reason we are gathered here upon this foundation, rejoicing and knowing that no one can receive salvation without going through the True Parents.

As you know, because of my victory in Danbury, Unification Church persecution has dwindled. If Jesus Christ 2000 years ago had been allowed to enter the senate chambers of the Roman Empire, which is comparable to the United States Congress, and had declared his message, Christianity would not have suffered 400 years of persecution. Knowing that historical situation, in my own lifetime I conquered every possible barrier in order to eliminate persecution. That was done in Danbury. Furthermore, this victory will affect not only this country, but in all of the 130 mission countries, the Unification missionaries will inherit the same kind of victory. There will be no more persecution.

So the spring is coming, the Unification spring, a confident spring. When spring comes, what kind of seed would you sow? The love of God. And the field is the world. Not only are we sowing the love of God and True Parents' love, but we are also connecting the world's people to God's lineage and True Parents' lineage. That is our job.

How can we be connected or transferred to that lineage? It can only come through the blessing given by the True Parents. Fallen man has centered on Satan's love. God and the True Parents' lineage centers on true love. This is not merely a concept, it is reality. Are you creating a true lineage on the individual, family, tribe, nation and world levels? Are you living centering on God's love? You are not connected with God's lineage yet. Who will testify to that? Satan. Not God, not True Parents. Satan will testify against you.

The Way Of Denial

All mankind has to inherit God's lineage. Now you have the inheritance of Satan. You must cut your connection to that lineage. How? By denying yourself. You have to deny everything that connects you to Satan. Deny individual, deny family, deny tribe, deny nation, deny world, deny ideas, deny concepts, deny knowledge, deny everything!

In the beginning Adam and Eve didn't have any concepts. They knew only God. They didn't have a concept of family, or a concept of sexual love. They didn't have knowledge, they didn't have power, they didn't have property, they didn't have anything. But they actually possessed everything, because they possessed God and God's love. When they approached the perfection stage, they didn't want God's love and so they ended up in a completely different position. You have inherited their fallen nature. You feel proud of yourselves and say, "I have this. I have that. I am a church member. I am religious. I am a scholar. I have a family!' God doesn't say that. That is Satan's concept. First of all, deny everything. Our way is the way of denying, serving, and sacrificing. Who likes to do that -- serving and sacrificing? Nobody likes to do that, including myself.

Why am I teaching you in such a serious way? If you don't follow, you cannot reach God's position. We have to always go the opposite way, the way of denial.

When you joined this church, everyone came against you, your children came against you, your nation came against you, the world came against you. Every kind of bad word came against you. God created such a situation in which you must deny yourself. That was His gift. Fallen man needs that, because it is hard to choose to deny oneself. God's persecution is not bad. All Unification members must deny everything. You must also deny your position. I know the Korean, Japanese, and American leaders don't like to hear that.

I Welcome Persecution

We must go the opposite way of Satan. So I welcome persecution. In 1976 everyone came against me, including people inside the Unification Church, Jewish people, the Christian world, secular humanists, the KGB, the FBI, and the CIA. Everyone came against me, pushing me into a space smaller than a rat hole. Rev. Moon went into that hole. But that hole opened up into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Persecution is not bad. It is wonderful to be persecuted. Why? What do Moonies gain after persecution? The whole Principle. How wonderful a gift that is!

We have to create a heavenly environment all over the world centering on God's love. That is our destiny. That is the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Does the Unification Church have that kind of power, or not?

What is the Unification Church's purpose? To connect the truth to the world. Moonies are being welcomed all over the world now. Why? God has been making the foundation. Until now your parents were against you. Now you can connect your family, your tribe, and your nation to God's Principle. No more persecution. God created this atmosphere.

I have not been speaking to Belvedere, but to the whole world. You are going to participate in the glorious path. Unlike me, who received nothing but persecution, the path you trod will be easier, because this period of persecution is over. Your parents, your aunts and uncles, and your brothers and sisters will not reject you anymore. They will be ready to listen to you. The times have changed. The new era has arrived!

The Day Of The Victory Of Heaven

The people gathered together here this morning are members of the worldwide Unification Church. The word "unification" in English doesn't convey the full meaning. The Chinese characters for unification, pronounced Tong Il in Korean, convey a meaning that includes education leading toward a unified goal. Kyo he means church and that is comprised of two Chinese characters. He means meeting or congregation and Kyo means teaching or education. Thus the literal meaning is a congregational meeting for education. The education of what? Teaching the religious truth.

What is religion? In Korean we call it Chung Kyo and that is again comprised of two Chinese characters. Chung means the backbone or the beam, so religion is the beam teaching, or the teaching of central truth. Therefore, when we say Tong Il Kyohoi, or Unification Church, within that name is contained all the implications of what we stand for: highest and deepest teaching for the purpose of unifying toward one goal. That is the literal meaning of the Unification Church.

Once you understand the full meaning of the Unification Church, you know that it is bringing the central truth of all religions. Furthermore, Tong Il Kyohoi truly means the meeting between God and people-the congregation. Who is at the center of the congregation-the members of the Unification Church or God? It is God. Therefore, wherever we go, the center of our activities and meetings is God.

In the traditional Christian churches, who is the center- God or Jesus? Many cannot answer that question; they are not sure about it. But we know that Jesus did not come to earth by his own will; he was sent here by God. Always there is a subject and object relationship; that is how everything is manifested.

What is the purpose of your life? Now that you have learned the meaning of the Unification Church, how do you answer that question?

Is there any individual who is perfected in the eyes of God? Are there any societies or tribes that are perfected? What about nations? The world? Since nothing is perfected, everything has to be reanalyzed. Even among all the saints in history, can we see any who were truly perfected according to the Unification Church's concept of perfection? That is a big question. Do you mean that God has been working throughout human history, but there is not even one individual, much less one family, one society or nation that is perfected according to the will of God? That is a big problem, then.

Even the pope, the head of the hundreds of millions of Roman Catholics, is not perfected according to the viewpoint of God and the Unification Church and Reverend Moon.

When God created human beings, He created not only men but also women. Did He create woman simply to give man a friend. to keep him from being lonely? Or was Eve meant to be more than just a friend to Adam? No matter who, even the celibate pope, has to answer, "God created man and woman so that they could become a pair, get married and form a family through which they could multiply and expand their love"

Why were men and women born? To be educated in the purpose of life; to marry, or to accomplish unification; and then were to go forward into a fulfilling life. This is the path of perfection.

No matter how powerful a king of some nation may be, if he is all by himself in the palace, he is a miserable man. He's got to have a queen; without a queen, he cannot even think of having a family. All people were meant to be educated about the purpose of life, to grow up centered upon God and to be unified in marriage, leading to a fulfilling life. For what ultimate purpose? The ultimate goal is joy. God will be joyful, creation will be joyful, spirit world will be joyful; everything will be joyful. But the word "joyful" will never tee fulfilled unless man and woman come together in unified and harmonious give and take.

What is God's purpose? What is Satan's goal? God is trying to create a joyful world and Satan is trying to create a sad and miserable world. What is shameful or sad, according to God's ideal? In a world in which men and women are living together in harmony, someone all by himself is a sad sight to see. Can a man say, "I'm totally self sufficient. I don't need anybody else"? Is that a joyful situation? He may figure that he can cook his own meals and eat them all by himself, but God does not pay attention to that kind of "society" God is interested in the society of give and take on the individual, family, society, national and worldwide levels.

I feel as though I have been on a journey for the past year and, now that I have come back, I see that all of you have become spotted with dirt; so now I want to clean you off.

The meaning of joyful does not include the individual by himself Joy means harmony and harmony means give and take; that requires more than one party. Among all the actions of people, the most beautiful is the action of true love.

If you were smiling and talking all by yourself in a room, other people would think you were crazy. There must be a subject and object relationship for joy to exist. God is trying to create a totally joyful world, while Satan wants to destroy joy and create the opposite kind of world. When these two opposing elements come into their most heated confrontation, that is what we call the end of the world. Satan would like to destroy the world in one final strike.

The joyful world begins with a man and woman, but it must spread outward to the surrounding people. There must be children and grandchildren, as well as an entire society, relating in joy. Some people might ask, "Why do we need children; why do we need grandchildren?" It is to create the mainstream of joy connected to the past, present and future. Only in the family can we find the past, present and future flowing together-in the grandparents, the parents, the children and grandchildren. That formula cannot be changed by the passage of time; it will never change.

When we talk about something ideal, we do not mean just one dimension, like a flat sheet of paper, but in all directions, like a globe. The ideal, wholesome joy can only be found in the system of the family. God can ask Adam and Eve, "What do you have to show me that you are very proud of?" They can answer, "Family joy" That is wholesome, total joy; it includes front and back, left and right and up and down. Joy emanates in every direction. The secret, as well as the formula, for joy is centered on the family which God is trying to install. Satan knows this truth, too; therefore, he is trying to destroy the family and create misery.

What kind of people are gathered here? You are Moonies, mostly American Moonies, while I am a Korean Moonie. Most American people want to say, "We are first-class people of the number one country in the world" But I am asking if American pride is justified. Let's look at the families of America. Do the young people love and take care of the older people, the so-called senior citizens? The American people have failed that first test. I have been rejected, in a way, by the American people because I have been speaking honestly. But the universal law remains the same, whether people listen to me or not.

You women tell me, are American families passing or failing, according to the definition of the joyful family which I have been speaking of? Satan knew God's purposes well, so he determined to destroy the true family formula all over the world. Satan has especially targeted the American family; you must know that clearly. Many American young people are saying, "I don't need a spouse; I don't need to have children" Is that a joyful society? Who guides this kind of life style? It is none other than Satan. Satan's AIDS attacks homosexuals.

American society, the so-called leader of the world, is becoming a destructive satanic weapon, from God's point of view. This society which virtually rejects old people and whose young people don't want to take responsibility for their marriages or their children is simply becoming Satan's weapon. But in order to fight this weapon, a new weapon has been created by God-the Unification Church. Satan has laid his traps throughout America, while those who are uncovering them and shattering them to pieces are the members of the Unification Church and Reverend Moon. That is what the Unification Church revolution is about.

God is watching what the Unification Church is really doing. Are the members becoming victims of Satan's traps or are they victorious over them? God is watching to see whether Unification Church members will be swallowed or will swallow those traps, digest them and create a new society.

America has been going in the wrong direction and that is why Reverend Moon came and attacked that satanic tradition. I am challenging and struggling not for my own sake but for the sake of humanity and the ultimate fulfillment of God's goal. America has become an influence of corruption to the rest of the world and I came to stop that.

In so many places throughout this country, lonely old grandparents are living all by themselves, pale and miserable, with nothing to smile about. Men and women are going their different directions, not even meeting each other. Children are on their own, running around all by themselves. This is the saddest situation, these sad families of America.

This is shameful in the sight of nature, too. The male and female birds sing to one another in love; even the insects make the music of love. All those creatures were meant to be appreciated by people; we were supposed to be inspired by the reflection of ourselves through the beauty of creation. The creatures sing with joy just as men and women are supposed to sing in joy, centering upon God's true love. Do you want the rest of the world to follow the American way of life? That will only lead to disaster and that is why we are trying to revolutionize this country.

The means by which we will do this are simple: the law of restoration by indemnity. America will be restored through indemnity. Therefore the young white people should love an elderly black couple as their own grandparents. Extremes should come together and if the different elements can really overcome and be joyful under those circumstances, America's problems will be solved. Since this is what God wants, Reverend Moon came to America to accomplish it. Many people have thought that Reverend Moon came to destroy America, but I am doing the opposite. We are working to see God's will being done in America; that is salvation.

What is your citizenship? Would you rather be a United States citizen or a Heavenly citizen? You are greedy for goodness, aren't you? I have been conducting a leadership conference at East Garden for the past several days for regional directors and European and Asian leaders. East Garden is like a special training center. Some members have complained, "Father is an Oriental and we don't like that style" Many leaders have come to the conclusion that I chastise America because I am an Oriental.

When you go to the spirit world, who will you look for first? Will you say, "Where are the True Parents?" Even though you met the True Parents on earth doesn't mean that you will be automatically connected with them in spirit world. Unless you do the will of God and the True Parents, you will be a stranger to them up there.

American people are chastised by me and you think, "Oh, Father doesn't love us" But you should think about a schoolteacher. Does the good teacher allow his students to work only 25 minutes and then the rest of the hour to play and goof off? No, a good teacher is stern and always pushes you to accomplish more, saying, "Why are you one minute late? You must do all your homework! If you don't answer correctly, you must stand up" He is stern because he is working to ensure a good future for his students.

You have no idea how stern God was in training me. God is an incredibly disciplined teacher, so if I wanted to go this way, God would push me in the opposite direction. If I wanted to slacken up a little bit, God would push me to the limit. So you can understand my viewpoint. I am always looking at things with my eyeglasses of unification, my Tong n Kyo He eyeglasses.

I have already spoken for one hour and ten minutes and I have just warmed up! The most important theme so far is why God created the world: He wanted to have a joyful, loving world with the family as the foundation. Love is at the center of past, present and future. The oldest, great, great, great, greatest grandparent is God. When you dig deeper and deeper, you come to the place of God. And the youngest offspring are within the mainstream of this joyful system. The only unit that connects the extremes of old and young is the family, not the nation. This is the formula and the yardstick of measurement. It doesn't matter what your nationality is, whether American, Korean, Japanese or whatever. Everybody is measured according to how you fulfill the family ideal. You will be elevated to the highest heaven or lowered to the lowest hell in spirit world according to this standard.

Through this formula, the harvest ripens and is put into a beautiful storage place. That storage place is called the Kingdom of Heaven in heaven. There is quality control there-first quality, second quality, inferior quality and flunked out. Everybody will eventually be put into some category.

God has been judging from this standpoint throughout history and nobody has passed so far, so no one has entered the highest Heaven. Many have been consigned to the trash cans of hell. There is a better grade called Paradise, but that is not Heaven. In the Principle we say that the Kingdom of Heaven is empty because no one ever fulfilled the requirements to enter those gates.

People commit sin with their eyes, nose, mouth, ears and body. The person who looks at his spouse with a hateful eye and not a loving one will find himself blinded in spirit world. People who listen to satanic sounds will be deaf in spirit world. Those who speak evil all the time will find that they have no mouth. Whatever you use to commit sin on the earth will be damaged and disfigured when you go to the next world. You cannot deceive anybody in spirit world; whatever you have sown, you will reap.

Americans have thought they were number one citizens of the world, but they will find in the Kingdom of Heaven it is not so. Many American ministers have not wanted to hear Reverend Moon speaking the truth and have tried to get me to leave this country, but I will continue to speak because nobody can stop the truth. Let anyone oppose me who wishes to; let us see who is victorious in the end.

When America sent me to jail it was almost like a wrestling match, in which America was trying to throw Reverend Moon and defeat him once and for all. But I was never thrown, and by the time I came out of prison there were many American people saying, "Hooray for Reverend Moon!" like a band of cheerleaders.

So far I have spoken clearly about my mission; you know that in pursuing my mission I came to America. America sent me to jail and thought it was finished with me. On the contrary, Reverend Moon resurrected stronger than ever. Now after my return from prison, on this Day of Victory of Heaven, I would like to speak clearly about the dispensation in America.

This is the 45th day after my release from prison, so a total of 44 days have elapsed since then. The number 44 represents the heavenly four-position foundation, which has been dominated by Satan until this time. I am trying to restore that number on the basis of the family. That is why I have spoken about the ideal family and also about the joyful world and the goal of God.

Your grandparents, your spouse and your children are like your three guiding angels to get you into Heaven. We learn from each of these relationships. That is the real family tradition. What is marriage? It is education in unity. The man learns about the woman's realm and the woman learns about the man's realm. Neither of you can know about these things until you get married, so marriage is like entering the school of the opposite sex. If you get a good report card of 100 points, then both the husband and wife will be absolutely happy and fulfilled.

Having children is another level of education. By loving your children, you learn how to love the world; also you connect with the future. Through your grandparents you connect with the past and also to the spirit world. You can learn from them about tradition and your family history. Every level of education, whether through your spouse, your children or your grandparents, is centered upon one thing- love. With this love you can travel into timeless space, from past, present, and future, almost like blood running in the bloodstream. Blood runs everywhere, from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head. By the same token, with love you can travel through timeless space. How wonderful is the authority of love!

What is the road to happiness? It is to become the servant, even the slave, of love. A stately, dignified grandfather might find the husband and wife fighting and say, "Oh, my children, you shouldn't do that. Let me help you overcome your differences" Likewise, he might find the grandchildren quarreling and say, "My grandchildren! I love you so much! Please don't fight!" The grandfather in that case is serving everyone in the role of mediator.

Perhaps a wife has the habit of nagging all the time. The good husband doesn't fight with her. Instead, he says, "Darling, I understand" The good husband is the servant, even the slave, of love.

From this perspective, we can understand God. God is the greatest, highest possible king, with the essence of love. Therefore, God walks the road of a servant. That is why I have taught you to go forth, "With the heart of the Father, in the shoes of a servant" That is the basic philosophy of God, of Reverend Moon and of the Moonies.

That has been exactly my attitude. After the American government sentenced me to prison, did I say, "I'll beat you! I'll destroy you!"? No, I said, "America, I will continue to serve and love you" When was The Washington Times created? It was during the time when the government was prosecuting me. That is one way I have shown my love for this country. In the future, all Americans will weep when they realize this.

There were two other publications that were formed during my Danbury time. One was the national weekly newsmagazine called Insight. A new issue of this comes out every Wednesday. At the same time, I directed the creation of a seven hundred page monthly magazine called The World and 1, something unprecedented in this country.

Why did we create this new monthly magazine? The American media is a fast moving realm, with no principled direction. Everybody moves from one subject to another, one crisis, one event after another. But the world needs to be educated and guided in the right direction. There are certain principles that the society, nation and world need to follow and the media is one means of leadership. Thus we assembled highly esteemed academic people and writers to produce this magazine and to point to the proper direction. We have already formed the academic organization called PWPA in many nations around the world. All these things are the fruits of the love I have for America and the rest of the world.

What and who is God? As we said, He is the servant of love, the slave of love, coming down to accomplish the happiness of mankind. God must teach His philosophy to mankind, so the challenge is one of education. God must install a certain system by which He can educate mankind centered on this love.

Within human society there are different levels and entities, such as the family, and there is a certain system of organization. There has been no true connection between these levels, however, because satanic love always divided us. God wants to unify the whole divided social system under true love; Satan divided them under satanic love.

The Day of the Victory of Heaven has incredible meaning. When we talk about such a victory, then we are talking about one thing-the victory of God's love. Wherever satanic love is governing, that territory belongs to Satan; wherever God's love is governing, that territory belongs to God. There has been a territorial dispute in the world. Our question is: how can we claim more and more satanic territories for God? How can God install His system of love? How can we become unified? We need a textbook to learn from. We have many textbooks but no true textbook for the reconstruction of love.

We must reconstruct eight different levels, beginning with the very bottom of the social level, which is servant of servants. Next is servant, then adopted son or daughter, then stepson or stepdaughter, then Eve, then Adam, then God, then true love. Every echelon was attacked by Satan; they all became alienated from each other. Our task is to break through each barrier and to unify them with the higher levels. Ultimately we reach true love through these eight degrees. The Principle teaches us the path of restoration, which is not centered on money, knowledge or power but only upon love.

What is the central point of faith? One can have faith in many things. Some people have faith in science or culture. Many people have faith in God, but what must be at the center of that faith? It must be true love. Any religion which does not teach this point will wither away.

The religion that will survive and prosper and go on forever must teach love centered on the family. Every religion has its own scriptures, but the Christian Bible is the greatest. Why is that? The reason is simple: the Bible describes God as a Father, as in the center of a family. And Jesus is described as His only-begotten son, or the number one son. Furthermore, the Bible depicts humanity in a bride's position, with Jesus as the bridegroom. The Bible uses the language of the family and exalts it.

The Bible also predicts the most joyful day for humanity- the day of the Marriage of the Lamb. What is that? That is the wedding day between the bridegroom and the bride. As you know, this was supposed to have been accomplished in the Garden of Eden, between Adam and Eve. But since that marriage was attacked and broken, God wanted it to be restored in the time of Jesus. Christianity is truly the central religion of the world because it is centered upon love within the family. That is also why Christianity became the dominant worldwide religion.

God wanted the Christian teaching to guide the world, and He gave us one great opportunity right after World War II through the dominance of American Christianity. What is America's responsibility? It is very clear from God's viewpoint: as the representative of world Christianity, America must create a society and lead the world to become a place where true love permeates and prevails and where unity of all the social levels can be realized. The American nation has that chosen position from God to save the world.

After the end of World War II in 1945, if humanity and the world had accepted Reverend Moon, God's ideal could have been established within 40 years. Within less than seven years time, the Principle could have been propagated to the whole world. We would not see the corrupted society we see in America today. Communism would have no power or influence. It would be an entirely different world.

Unfortunately, that God-given opportunity right after World War II was lost. Therefore, I had to rebuild the foundation from scratch, following the law of restoration through indemnity. Through the next 40 years, I built the Unification Church, the new foundation upon which the dispensation of unity could be established.

After World War II, the six thousand years of fallen biblical history had to be restored; this is the mission of the Unification Church. If the Unification Church does not fulfill this mission, the future will be dismal for the world; the world would be governed entirely by Satan. We are seeing nowadays among some theologians the "God is dead" philosophy. The God denying ideology of communism is rampant, trying to take over the world. Secular humanism is strong in the Western world, where people say, "We don't need a savior. Everybody is equal. There is no God; religion and morality are useless; everybody should just do what he wants and follow his own desires"

These anti-God attitudes such as secular humanism, communism, and the "God is dead" theology are making it impossible for God to find a foothold on earth. Religion has become corrupted and impotent; families have been broken and divided; society is becoming more and more diseased; and the young people are being destroyed. God had to do something and that something was the Unification Church and Reverend Moon.

The eight levels of society have to be restored in these 40 years. Within the democratic world, we have come up step by step during my lifetime. God is actually preparing a textbook of true religion. God Himself walked the path to restore these eight levels. He gave His example and model and had it written into the textbook of religion.

Look at the Old and New Testament. In the Old Testament, man started out from the servant of servants level, coming up to servant. Then the New Testament recorded the rise to the adopted son's position, then stepson's position, then the point of the true son. The Unification Church's responsibility is to go from stepson's position up to true love.

What is a stepchild? He lives with one parent and another person who is not his real parent. As with Cain and Abel, there is one family with two kinds of children. That is what the problems of our society can be boiled down to-the Cain and Abel separation. Since you already know the Principle, I don't have to go into detail about this.

Even though the truth was contained in the Old and New Testaments, no one was able to fully interpret it. For that reason, God had to send the Messiah to earth to clarify the truth and describe it clearly, step by step, all the way to the top.

Jesus absolutely followed the God-centered tradition, as epitomized in his prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, "Not my will, but Thy will be done, Father" During Jesus' time, there was supposed to be unity between Joseph's family and Zechariah's family through the Marriage of the Lamb. But that did not take place and instead was broken into pieces, and the result was the crucifixion. At this time of the Second Advent, therefore, the two brothers are represented by the Western world and the Oriental world.

If there had been no crucifixion, Christianity would have traveled from East to West; but history was turned around and went from the Western world-the analytical, physical, scientific world-to the spirit centered Eastern world. If Jesus had not been crucified, then he would have united 12 tribes under him, and the Arab world could have become unified within his lifetime. Then the dispensation would have moved to the Indian culture and to the Chinese culture. All the religions of those areas would have come under Jesus Christ's teachings. With that formidable power, they could have confronted the Roman Empire.

However, because of the crucifixion, the Arab world and the Jewish world are still divided. Furthermore, the Christians had to go to the Roman Empire and endure terrible persecution and martyrdom. After spreading through the Western world first, now Christianity is going back to the Asian world.

At this time, the Western world is turning toward the East for inspiration. Young people are interested in all the fashions and cultural trends coming out of the Orient. Why has Japan become so powerful and respected, not only in the economic realm but also in the political, cultural and social realms? The reason is that the time has come when world attention must be given to the Orient.

Satan knows what God's will is, so he wants to prevent the West from uniting with the East. He doesn't want to see the United States becoming more friendly with Japan and the other Asian nations. It is in Satan's interests to cut off trade with Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Asian sector, to isolate the United States through protective trade barriers and so forth.

Who is running the United States government today? Who are the people most influential over American public opinion? They are left-leaning people with secular values, such as we find in the liberal media. These are the people who promote God-denying principles and policies which are ultimately favorable to Satan. I know this very clearly and I know that God had to do something to prevent this situation from continuing. God's solution was to send Reverend Moon to this country to stop these things.

Furthermore, Reverend Moon has the mission of restoring the sovereignty of love here in America, as well as to bring unity between the United States and the Asian sector. Satan has always held the sovereignty over love and thus he came to control the church and the family. The mission of Reverend Moon and the mission of the Unification Church are the same-to plant the love of God back in this country, to restore the family system and the churches. Those are our three fundamental goals.

We are in the midst of the battle right now. Satan is trying very hard to break down unity between the East and West, particularly between the United States and Korea. Japan and Korea are the only two Asian nations who have not been deeply influenced by communism. If that beachhead is lost, all the Asian territory will be lost and I cannot let this happen. I worry about communist China, a gigantic country with one billion people. I have been praying about how to turn that country around and my prayers are being answered.

The communists are also working to aggravate racial tensions between the Anglo-Saxons and Latin American people. As you know, the United States Congress at one time rejected 14 million dollars in aid for the Nicaraguan freedom fighters, wanting to close the door on Central America. But that meant Central America was destined to become another Vietnam. Thus The Washington Times made a historic announcement and pledged to raise the 14 million dollars itself, if the government refused to do it. Because of that, the White House and the Administration and Congress were ashamed and later 27 million dollars were approved for the Nicaraguan rebels.

The American media are hateful toward us and don't want to report our successes, but I don't care whether they report them or not. It's already written in the book of God's history, the Unification Church history, and United States history. That time was the turning point for the survival of this nation because if the United States is defeated in Central America, the next target will be Mexico and then this country. I knew that if this country became that vulnerable, worldwide salvation would not be possible.

I would like to see Unificationism influence the American government and public opinion, as well as bring unity among the established Christian churches. On the day of my release, August 20, 1985, great unity was made. A dispensational miracle is occurring now. Forty years ago, on August 15, 1945, unity with Christianity was supposed to have occurred, but things happened entirely differently. So within forty years I laid the foundation which included suffering in Danbury, the modern Crucifixion. Finally that moment has come again so that this nation and Christianity can embrace the True Parents for the first time. Reverend Moon, in the name of True Parents, restored at once the national and historical worldwide victory.

At the Mount of Calvary with Jesus' crucifixion, all the foundation was lost; but now it has been restored. Two thousand years of Christianity became the foundation for the new Abel-type Christianity, which is the Unification Church. Ronald Reagan is president of the United States, but he doesn't know how to lead the world. Only one person knows the direction of God and the key to the survival of America and the free world-that is Reverend Moon!

This is the time of juncture between East and West. From now on, Western civilization will continue to decline and the new culture centered upon God, the Unification civilization, will continue to rise. People may laugh at my statement today but you will see in the future that this is true.

History was begun in the wrong direction by Adam, Eve and the archangel, as well as by Cain and Abel. Now at the time of the end of the world, Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel are all enemies on the world level. The appearance of the four primary dispensational nations is inevitable: Korea is the Adam nation; Japan is the Eve nation; the United States is the Abel-type archangel nation; and Germany is the Cain-type archangel nation. Originally, centering upon the second coming of the Messiah, England was supposed to have been the Eve nation, America would have been in the Abel son's position, and the Cain nation would have been France. However, all these things were changed because of the failure of the dispensation at that time.

Everything had to be reorganized and thus Japan became the Eve nation to Korea. America and Germany became the two archangel nations. As you know, France and England have had a long history of enmity, and so have France and Germany, and Germany and England. Because of the failure of established Christianity after the coming of the Lord of the Second Advent, the four enemy nations-Japan, the United States, Germany, and Korea-came together in this historical role.

Where should this unity be accomplished? In the United States of America, because this is the central Christian nation. Therefore, I have brought together all the leaders of our worldwide church to America, and together with me they are serving this cause. Those four dispensational countries have to make a unified foundation in one country.

After the Korean and Japanese leaders came here, many of you said, "We don't need them!" Is this right or wrong? No matter how difficult it is to become citizens of God's Kingdom, we must make this foundation in America; otherwise, we can't march on and build the Kingdom of Heaven. That Kingdom will be built upon the unity of the four enemy nations.

In the world today, Korea is divided between North and South and Germany is divided between East and West. This is a symbol of the division between the first Cain and Abel. There are two different world brothers-communism and democracy. They also represent the thieves on either side of Jesus on the cross. At that time, the good thief and the bad thief argued with each other. At this time, the Abel realm of the world asserts that there is a God, while the Cain realm denies God.

I have been studying English but it is very difficult for a man of my age to retain what he learns. I study the dictionary and memorize new things, but the next day I wake up and it's all gone from my brain! You are young people, so you can learn much more quickly and better than me. After 1990, you have to know Korean. Otherwise, you won't be able to come to Korea. You think about that. Moonies are the people who are following me, following the Unification course, so Moonies who cannot speak Korean will not have any excuse. This is the viewpoint of Principle. Do you understand that clearly?

The enemy nations have gathered together under one teaching-that of true love and the True Parents. Now where are we going? We are going to find our own land, the land of Canaan. This is what the mobilization is all about at this time. The Unification Church must be able to educate and lead the world. All the world's countries are represented in America.

We have a mission ahead of us to promote the election of a President of the United States whom God approves. Also we must promote senators and congressmen who are God loving. The same is true for local officials, such as mayors. How can we do such a thing? It is very simple: Christianity and the Unification Church have to become united; that will bring the desired result.

We have an IFVOC membership in Korea of more than seven million and even more than that in Japan. Through this formidable strength, God's will can be taught throughout these countries to the politicians and governments.

Now in the United States, a truthful viewpoint can be promoted through The Washington Times. When the President is wrong, The Washington Times will say so; when the Congress is wrong, The Washington Times will say so. When the Times accused Reagan, saying, "You are not the Rambo president; you are the Gumbo president," Reagan got mad. Let him get mad; he deserved to get mad. Meanwhile, the rest of the media wonders what The Washington Times is doing.

Some people think that these are crazy acts; they say, "Reverend Moon is just throwing his money away" But I am not crazy and I am not throwing money away. You will see. Secularism in America is losing its power. Reverend Moon has been changing the direction of the United States. The government has not been able to stop the Moonies, nor could it eliminate Reverend Moon's influence. In fact, more and more American people are rallying behind me.

At Jesus' crucifixion, the two thieves were far from united and were arguing with each other. At the time of Danbury, which was my crucifixion, Christianity was divided into two poles-one is conservative, represented by Jerry Falwell, and the other is liberal, represented by Joseph Lowery. These two sides have fought like cats and dogs on virtually every issue, but on the issue of Reverend Moon, they have united. That is providentially important.

Likewise, established Christianity and the Unification Church are united centering on me, which was represented at the August 20 banquet. With the unity of the Unification Church, established Christianity, and the government of the United States, God's providence will be fulfilled and completed. We will make it happen! I have the plan; when I was in Danbury, I knew how to make that happen.

As you know, the goal of our mobilization now is to meet with 70,000 ministers. Multiplied by three, that makes 210,000. Multiply that by three and you have more than 600,000. Moses' people who left Egypt numbered 600,000; today, in the wilderness of the 20th century Canaan, I am again organizing a movement of 600,000.

After 40 years, the Israelites entered Canaan. Now we are going into Canaan on the worldwide level. This is the first time religious leaders have been taught such a thing. We are bringing new direction to them. When they understand this direction, they will follow. We are bringing order to the country and we are marching on, always moving. You must go out now and take the persecution; this is not the time to stay home. If you don't go out now, I will be the one to accuse you and say, "Why don't you work for the ideal world?" Even if you are not being persecuted by others, I will persecute you! I don't want to see mankind failing to move at this crucial time, the culmination of all providential restoration history. Those who understand God's providence clearly, please raise your hands.

The Day of the Victory of Heaven was actually installed on October 4, 1976. The fulfillment of that providence was supposed to unfold within seven years; however, because of the court battles and other opposition, the dispensational moment was delayed. This is the eighth year after the installation of the Day of the Victory of Heaven, so we are marking a new beginning today.

1945 was supposed to be the time when established Christianity and I could unite, and upon this unity, God would have unfolded His dispensation. Since that was not done, I initiated the Unification Church movement and created the new foundation which has been developing now for 40 years. Today the Unification Church and I are united and we are declaring truly the Day of the Victory of Heaven. Based on the Danbury victory, today, October 4, 1985, 1 am marking the final chapter of the dispensation and the new beginning of the Day of the Victory of Heaven.

History is repeating today the events at the time of Moses. Joshua and Caleb led the second generation of Israelites into the land of Canaan with the slogan, "Be Bold and Strong" Today our slogan is exactly the same; fortunately, the first generation today doesn't have to fall in the wilderness. The first and second generations can go together into the promised land upon the restoration of Cain and Abel. Because my own family has restored that situation, now we can all be united and enter Canaan together.

Our movement has to educate the leaders of this country. We are essentially an educational movement. If the political parties in America continue along the path they are going, this country will definitely decline. Our job is to educate them in the love of God. We have already educated thousands of ministers and, secondly, we must reach out to the lawmakers and politicians. We are doing this through the CAUSA programs. Eventually we will be able to teach the national senators and congressmen.

No matter what the politicians may say now, eventually they will have to listen to our message. Even though many Americans are boastful today, saying, "We don't need a prophet, particularly from the Orient. We don't want to be told what to do,' they will change. American people are basically big, open-minded people. They are willing to listen to black people, Hispanics and Asians, and we are bringing together all these different kinds of people under the one ideology of Godism.

According to biblical teaching, what is the role of a prophet? The prophets received the message from God and then taught the king and the rest of the country. If the king listened to the prophet, their country prospered. If they didn't, they suffered. Today is no different. The role of the prophet is the same, no matter whether the people like what he says or not. You must know this very clearly. My message today shall be called the Belvedere Declaration. It is the most significant message I have given since leaving Danbury. I want to give a historical analysis of our entire situation and give you clear direction as to what to do.

I am working to see the unity of the twin brothers-East and West. Once Reverend Moon is accepted, unity on every level will be possible. When twins are in the mother's womb, are they back-to-back or face-to-face? Are they in different positions, one upside down? They are both facing each other and in the same position. That means they are not fighting; within the womb, twins are face-to-face and united.

Between the twin brothers of East and West, who is the elder? It is the East. The origin of all the major religions is in the East, even Christianity. The East is in the subject position. What about Jesus? Was he an Italian? No, he came from Israel, which is part of Asia Minor. The Unification Church came from Asia, as did the other major world religions.

God is like a gardener who not only planted a tree but also created it. When the tree is grown, along comes a little monkey who climbs up and says, "This is my tree!" He becomes boastful. God laughs at him and says, "You monkey, what are you doing? That is my tree, not yours!" Many Western people are like that monkey, wanting to control and claim everything as theirs, disregarding God.

In the past seven years, we haven't given proper treatment to the Day of the Victory of Heaven. On this eighth observance, we are going to renew our celebration and resurrect the meaning of this day.

I could not call for all the state and city leaders to come here today because our activities would be disrupted. Therefore, I invited all the business leaders from around the world, including Japan, Korea and Europe. Also I asked all the regional directors in America to come to East Garden. I have been meeting with them since September 30.

This is the fifth day of the conference; for the first two days, they listened to me at East Garden and everybody was so happy. But by the third day, everybody had a backache. They were all thinking, "Oh, Father, haven't we listened to you enough?" So I thought, "l have educated them wrong!" I let them rest last night so they could listen to me today without falling asleep. I want them to hear this message on the Day of the Victory of Heaven so that we can make a new beginning. I am really sweating today, making a very strong speech.

Six thousand years of fallen history need to be indemnified. In order to do that, there must be a showcase or model. That model has been erected during the past 40 years by me, but actually God is the pioneer. God has been showing the example of how to overcome and break the barriers on each level. The prophets in history showed how to do it, people like Noah, Abraham, Moses and especially Jesus Christ. But people haven't been able to understand the pattern, so during these 40 years I have been summarizing a clear-cut pattern, giving you a textbook.

So far I have been fulfilling the role of Abel, but that role was supposed to have been filled by Christianity. I have been showing Christianity what the true Abel is like, on a worldwide scale. In the past, prophets came on a national or a tribal level, but I have been giving the model on the worldwide level. From the worldwide level, I am giving a model for the individual, family, tribe, society, nation, world and cosmos. The cosmic level covers everything, even hell.

The Danbury dispensation created a highway from hell into heaven, in a way. That was the purpose of Danbury and that has been fulfilled. What does that mean? It means the satanic world has to retreat.

When the harvest season arrives, everybody goes out and harvests the grain; otherwise the grain will be lost. Rain might come and ruin it, so the father and mother and even the children go out and bring in the grain. By the same token, we are in the middle of our harvest season now. This is our mobilization time. When you understand the historical dispensation, you know this is the final showdown for God.

Why do you hold on to Reverend Moon? That is the way you can go over the hill of indemnity. Holding on to me, you can go all the way to the top, through all of Satan's barriers. My mission has been to break down all those barriers and unite each level with higher levels.

In every realm there are Cain and Abel divisions. In the democratic world there are Cain and Abel; even in the satanic world there are Cain and Abel. The Unification Church has the power to penetrate all directions, not only within the democratic world but also the communist world. That is why our movement is going to Moscow and the Soviet satellite countries.

Why do you need me? I am a model, an example for you. I am the only one who can show you how to walk each level and be victorious so that you can unify at a higher level. Because the first parents were the prey of Satan and, therefore, became false parents, only the True Parents can bring God's unity.

There is no one else who knows the true dispensational meaning of the Unification Church, including all the church leaders. They are in just the same position as you in that respect. Nobody but the True Parents knows. The position of Father and Mother is like that of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. There was nobody else to listen to, except the archangel who led them astray. True Parents cannot listen to anybody at this time or discuss things. Do you understand? Many American members think that I listen to Korean or Japanese leaders at East Garden and that I am influenced by them, but that is wrong.

American leaders try to tell me, "Americans think a different way. That won't work in America" Let me ask you: Is America the Garden of Eden or anywhere near Heaven? At this time, the true man and true woman have made a couple and must forge the vertical way. Everybody else must follow that vertical way, then make the horizontal way. This is the way of Principle. Do You understand?

The Oriental world writes up and down, vertically, while the Western world writes from left to right, horizontally. Oriental people usually sleep on their backs, while Western people often like to sleep on their stomachs. When Koreans beckon for someone to come forward, they gesture with their hands pointing downward, while Americans do it with their hands pointing up. Likewise, the grammatical construction of the language is entirely different. In English, you always put the verb before the object of the sentence, such as, "I go to the park" But in Korean and Japanese, they describe everything and then put the verb last. There is more description.

I was surprised when I came to the West and saw so many left-handed people. In the Orient, if anybody writes with the left hand, he is considered a disabled person. Another difference is in the way people eat at the dinner table. In the Orient, when you drink soup at someone else's table, you are expected to make noise as a sign of enjoying it. But in the West, you are supposed to be absolutely silent. You have to be sneaky, practically hiding behind your bowl.

Who made all these contrasts between East and West? God did, in order to make the world more interesting and to harmonize it in a more interesting way.

Now let us draw our conclusion. I said initially that perfection must be attained on every level-individual, family, tribe, nation, and world. Ultimate perfection means the creation of a joyful world centered on the love of God. Satan does not want that world to happen, so he has divided the world, creating misery and corruption. In these final days, God has brought true love to counteract Satan's false love. Reverend Moon is pioneering true love on every level, both in the spirit world and the physical world. I have gone down to the lowest position and brought true love there. I have been showing the world how God Himself walked each step of the way. In the past 40 years, starting from the position of servant of servants, I have shown how each level can be conquered and I have been demonstrating to the world how to walk every step.

Beginning from Day One of these forty years, there was opposition. Korean Christianity doggedly opposed us and they will continue until the final day. God must allow Satan to do his utmost until the last moment. The opposition reached the world level in 1976, its highest point. All the tactics of that opposition, as well as the basic materials, were provided by Korean Christianity. Through the use of such materials, the United States government tried to finish off Reverend Moon, but they were unsuccessful. Even though they did their utmost and even put me into Jail, I have now been resurrected and am victorious.

The Job I still have to complete is that of dealing with the communist world, in particular the Soviet Union. When I was in prison, there were various declarations to the world that communism has lost its power. The book, The End of Communism, was such a declaration. Interestingly, Soviet citizens in Beirut were kidnapped for the first time ever; always before, only Westerners were kidnapped. Also, high ranking officials in the KGB in Britain have defected and exposed the Soviet-European spy network. Dozens of spies were caught and deported. KGB plants and spy rings have been exposed in the United States and also in West Germany. The secular media have not been reporting the truth but instead have distorted things many times. Therefore, we have founded our own truth-centered media.

The enemies of our church just don't know what to do about us. When they sent me to Danbury, they thought they could say a final "Mansei!" Just as 2000 years ago, Satan's forces thought they had their final victory when they nailed Jesus to the cross. However, when I came out of prison, I came out as a hero and a martyr, a symbol of freedom to many people. Now many American people and even the media are supporting me, so our dedicated enemies don't know how to deal with this. They are trying to make some counterattack, but they are saying, "Where are our weapons?"

I know that anything I say at Belvedere can be heard by the KGB almost simultaneously. Likewise, American intelligence can learn everything I say. That is fine. Let them listen. Our headquarters are listening, too-that is the headquarters of the Heavenly Kingdom and God.

The die is cast, the showdown is done. Our destiny has been decided, no matter what else Satan may do. We have won the victory. Period.

Now many nations will ask me to come and stay with them. People will say, "Reverend Moon, we want you to come to South America,' and I will say, "No, thank you" Others will ask me to come to Europe but I will also say no. What about America? When American people ask me to come here, what will I say? I will give you a condition, upon which I will return to America. If Americans recognize God's goal to bring unity between Korea, Japan and the United States, then I will be here.

The Moonies are working now in America, showing others how to unite East and West. When the American people welcome and follow the Moonies, they will be welcoming everybody. I'll be there, then. When America, Japan and Germany are united, the physical, external construction of the Kingdom of Heaven will be easy, since those three nations have some of the most powerful economies on earth. The foundations are there. Reverend Moon has a very good brain. If somebody doubts me, just wait and see. We have already laid the foundation to make the Kingdom of Heaven on earth in the scientific world, as well as in the realms of culture, media, and technology.

During this East Garden conference, I have given tremendous educational materials to you. This is the first time many leaders who have been following me for decades were all gathered together. Many of them were astonished to learn about all the things our movement is doing.

Who is following the vertical path at this time, after 40 years? Only the Moonies. There are two poles-the vertical and the horizontal. To connect them both, we must make a perfect circle. Centering on God's love, we make that circle on the individual level, the family level, the tribal, national, world and cosmic levels. Everything must go through that central point of God's love or it doesn't have any power. Anything which is centered on this point of God's love can have the power to continue to go on and on. That is Principle.

You can ask yourself, "Am I standing on that true love point, or somewhere opposite that point? Am I standing on true love individually, as a family?" I ask myself the same question.

What is our tribe? It is our Unification family. At East Garden, we have many different people working hard, centering on the same True Parents. I am not working now on the level of America; I am working on the world level. At this time, you don't have your own foundation on the family, tribal, national, world or cosmic level. I have indemnified all the historical situations, so I have that kind of foundation. I want to see all Unification members moving out to the world level. I don't want to see you focusing on the individual or family situations. I want to see only the world as your focus. You should say, "I want to imitate Father's level of indemnity"

I want to bring the Unification Principles to the whole world. If you don't move out to the world level, we cannot do that. This is the last chance. You must think about that.

I have spoken today about the true meaning of the Day of Victory of Heaven. It was supposed to have been fulfilled years ago. If President Nixon had listened to my advice, this country would not be in this position. Vietnam would not have ended up the way it did. Also, Carter would not have had the opportunity to get elected.

The 1980 presidential election was a crucial one, in which Reagan won a landslide victory. Only one newspaper in the country predicted that-the paper owned by Reverend Moon. The 1984 election was also a crucial one. In the recent past, no president has held office for two full terms. Nixon didn't, Ford didn't and Carter didn't. The Mondale and Ferraro team were virtually undermined by the expose printed in the New York City Tribune and The Washington Times.

The Day of the Victory of Heaven was installed upon the victory of the True Parents. Therefore, I have become the symbol of victory. Nobody can get into Heaven without following the model, the symbol.

As you know, because of the victory in Danbury, all the persecution has lost its power. If Jesus Christ had been able to enter the Roman Empire himself and speak in their government assembly, giving his message at that time, 400 years of Christian suffering would not have been necessary after his death. Knowing that, I conquered every possible potentiality for persecution through the Danbury victory.

This will affect not only the United States but the whole world. The Unification missionaries in all our mission countries will reap the same kind of victory. The spring is dawning and persecution is coming to an end.

What seeds shall we sow in the warmth of the spring? The seeds of God's love. Our field is the world and there we must sow the love of God and the True Parents. We must connect the lineage of the world with that of God. We must create the God-centered, true lineage. That is our job.

How can we make that kind of change in the world's lineage? It can only come through the Blessing given by the True Parents. Fallen mankind has been centered upon Satan's love but now we have God's lineage of true love. This is not just a concept-it is reality! Are you making the true lineage within yourself, your family, tribe and nation? You must think about that.

Are you living centered upon God's love? You have to deny all of Satan's inheritance in order to inherit God's lineage. You have to cut from Satan's realm on every level-individual, family, tribe, nation, world. You have to cut from everything connected with Satan, including your self-centered ideas and concepts.

Adam and Eve didn't know about anything in the beginning except what was connected to God. They didn't have any concept of property, power, knowledge, family or love centered upon self; but they could possess everything because they possessed God and true love. But when they entered the perfection stage, they didn't go with God's love.

You have inherited the fallen nature. You say, "I have this and that possession. I am a scholar and I have a family. I am a religious man" But that is from Satan's concept. First of all, you must deny everything. The key words are serving and sacrificing. That is the only way to get back to God's concept.

Why am I teaching you this serious way? It is the only way you can get back to God. Nobody wants to go the way of denial; nobody likes it. But it is the only way to go. God has allowed the persecution to come against us in the past so that we could automatically learn self-denial and sacrifice. Regardless of who we are, including the Korean and Japanese leaders, nobody enjoys self-denial. But that is the way to move out of Satan's comer and move into God's corner. Therefore, I have welcomed the world's opposition. In 1976, that opposition reached its peak.

Even from within the Unification Church, I faced persecution, as well as from the Christian world, the Jewish world, the secular world, the government-all of these came against me and pushed me into a comer. Reverend Moon became like a rat in a comer, pushed into a hole, and that hole opened up into the Kingdom of Heaven.

After hearing this speech today, you can know clearly the meaning of the Day of Victory of Heaven.

Now should you connect to the world or the Unification Church? What is the purpose of the Unification Church? It is to connect to the world. Now is the time when you can connect your parents, your tribe, your nation. Persecution is coming to an end so you will have an easier way. God has made this atmosphere.

Now we know clearly the direction of our march. I have spoken today for four hours and thirty five minutes; it is almost noon. Why did I pour out so much heart and energy to you today? Because the meaning of the Day of Victory of Heaven is so significant now. I am deadly serious about the situation. That is the reason.

I have not spoken just to the people at Belvedere but to the whole world. You are participating in this glorious work, going out to do the new mission. Unlike me, who received nothing but persecution, you are going to be welcomed. Your home town, your parents, your relatives- aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters-will not reject you any more. They will be ready to listen to you. The time has changed entirely; a new era has begun.

Today we shall make a new beginning, a new commitment. Let us pledge to march forward in obedience to God. Let us pledge to be victorious!

Have you been studying well during the last couple of days? We are gathered together as members of the Unification Church. What is the Unification Church? It is a religious organization pursuing a noble goal: the unity of all religions. You realize that is no easy task; it is so difficult. But God's will and desire is the unity of all religions and eventually the unity of all ideologies-such as communism and democracy-under one understanding of God.

This is the United States, and most of you here today are American citizens. There is much diversity and mixture of people and problems in America. Unity is relatively easy if you lower yourself, but not so easy when you elevate yourself. Europe is a community of nations encompassing a great diversity of cultures and peoples. To try to elevate all of Europe to a higher level and then to unite everyone is quite a difficult task. But God exists and we must consider His standard. Is He content with the present level? No, He desires something much higher, the highest possible level. When you attempt to raise the world up to God's standard and unite it, you encounter immediate problems. To try to bring unity while maintaining the status quo, without altering the current ideologies and philosophies, is virtually impossible. Every country has its own idiosyncrasies; its people are proud and stubborn. Americans, for example, feel that the United States is number one. Europeans think they are tops. Such attitudes make it impossible to form a harmonious body out of these nations.

Still, if only human factors were involved, we might keep hoping for unity. But another element exists: the invisible but real influence of Satan. The forces of Satan in our world push mankind in the opposite direction of goodness and try to block people from ever reaching it. God has His own will or purpose, people and nations have their own goals, and the forces of Satan have their own agenda. All three factors or parties-God, mankind, and Satan-play a role, and their responsibilities are intertwined. Eventually, they must reach a consensus, or common understanding.

Were those three parties originally destined to be divided and operate in conflict with each other? If so, unity would be hopeless. We must understand the difference between good and evil. All three parties began heading in the same direction, goodness. But mankind, in the middle, turned toward the left and became evil. Satan was originally an archangel, one of God's creatures. God's will cannot be fulfilled unless mankind, in the center, participates in His dispensation. Likewise, Satan could not accomplish his goal without mankind's cooperation. Present divisions stem from the deviation of God's original concept in the Garden of Eden. When God instructed Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, He warned them that the consequence of disobedience was death. There, good and evil divided. To obey God's will and achieve what God desires is good; to disobey God and go away from Him is evil.

Only the Unification Church understands deeply how mankind's lineage was transferred to Satan because of the fall. Having started as a good archangel, Satan also longs ultimately to return to his original position. The central criterion for determining good and evil is God's will. The consummation of God's will is, naturally, good. Therefore, whoever totally fulfills the will of God is a complete, or perfect, person. Such a person is one with God.

The purpose of the Unification Church is to unite the religions and peoples of the world centering upon the will of God. I am the founder of the Unification Church, but that does not mean it exists to do my will. No, I live for God's will. I work day and night to unite the religions of the world, centered upon God's will, not my own. I only obey the will of God and walk the providential road.

Then what is God's will? The average religious person seldom has a clear idea what it is. But the Unification Church has a crystal-clear answer: to fulfill the ideal or purpose of creation. The ideal of creation is the completion or perfection of humankind and the universe. When men and women are perfected, the universe will also be perfected. Also, the ideal of creation includes the completion of the heavenly four-position foundation. That begins with one God-centered individual, whose mind and body are united under God's own lineage. Such a person becomes God's man or woman. That is the first stage. Such a man and woman can create a family, becoming God-centered husband and wife, and giving birth to God centered children.

If this is God's concept, is there any room for separate American, Soviet, or European ideologies? Can each hold onto his own way of thinking and preserve his well-being? Is there room for a Japanese or Korean way of thinking, for Oriental and Occidental ways of thinking? God's mind totally focuses upon the completion of this heavenly four-position foundation. He does not consider whether something is distinctively American, Korean, Japanese, or whatever. He cares only for the perfection of Adam and Eve within the Garden of Eden.

God longs for people to fulfill their human portion of responsibility, to climb out of God's indirect dominion into His direct dominion, and to become totally one with Him. That is God's one fervent desire. But people sometime object, "All we really need is our freedom. Why should we be bound by 'human responsibility'? Why worry about setting all these conditions? Why is the heavenly four-position foundation so necessary that we should give up our freedom for it?"

God's supreme desire after creating the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve was to see people fulfill their responsibility and reach perfection, or completion. Can any of you confidently say, "Yes, I will follow God's desire and fulfill human responsibility whatever the cost"? Raise your hands if you can. Supposedly, you have volunteered to fulfill God's will. Do you realize that you should become the champions in achieving it? Or do you think you don't need my sermons, since you are Americans and have all that is necessary? How much have you Americans been thinking about human responsibility? Please reflect on it. Of all the people in the world, I am taking human responsibility most seriously. I am putting my life on the line in order to fulfill it.

God and Satan separated during the period for fulfilling human responsibility. If human and angelic responsibilities had been properly fulfilled, do you think Satan would have emerged? No, Satan has mankind in a choke hold, telling people, "Until you fulfill your human responsibility, you don't belong to God; you belong to me. I've got you by the neck." There is a certain protocol among the three parties; Satan and God know it, but human beings have been unaware of it. Only at my coming has mankind's ignorance been conquered. Now human responsibility has been clearly defined.

Once a person fulfills his human responsibility, Satan can never conquer him and God will never abandon him. Satan and God made that agreement. Everything hinges upon human responsibility. Whether we follow God's will or Satan's will depends upon one thing: the fulfillment of our responsibility.

For example, Dr. Durst is the president of the Unification Church of America. He met me and followed my will, traveling throughout the country to promote our movement. He knows the American way of life, and he is absolutely confident that he is doing God's will to the maximum of his ability. But is that the entirety of human responsibility? Is that sufficient to fulfill God's will and please Him? The answer is no. The American way is very trivial in relation to the universal will of God. Even though you may have completed lots of workshops and seminars on the Principle, including leadership courses, and you think you know the Principle, your nose is still hooked by a wire, and that wire is called human responsibility.

I am a smart man. If human responsibility were not required, I could have chosen a very easy path and become popular wherever I went. Think about it. There are plenty of experts and Ph.D.s in the world, each looking for better ways of achieving human fulfillment. Do I concentrate on such things less than they do? I put a lot

more thought into it. Do you think I am so dumb that I just picked the wrong route, causing so much persecution and misunderstanding? Do I enjoy that kind of persecution? Then why has it happened? Why did I have to go through such adverse situations? Because there is no other way, in heaven or on earth. I had to take that course and overcome it.

Even if our parents reject us, we must follow this way. Even if our wife and children reject us, we must continue. If our own nation and people reject us, still we must go on. If the entire world and the universe opposes us, we persevere. That is the road of survival. That is the destiny we were born to fulfill. That is the covenant between God and Satan, the rules upon which they have agreed. We don't have the option to digress from these rules; we must follow them.

Those of you sitting in the front row have been CAUSA lecturers. Have you been truly serious, investing all your effort into your commitment, paying indemnity and trying to fulfill your responsibility in a manner acceptable to both God and Satan? Even if nuclear war broke out today and the entire world were demolished, still human responsibility would remain. It will never go away. Therefore, what people should dread the most is not necessarily an atomic bomb or nuclear warfare; it is unfulfilled human responsibility. For the whole United States of America to be demolished in one second, or for your entire family to be incinerated, would be less fearful than unfulfilled human responsibility.

While Adam and Eve were fulfilling their responsibility, were they supposed to have children? Before completing their human responsibility, they should not have turned to each other and said, "I love you; I want to kiss you and make love." This is why Jesus told his disciples, "A man's foes shall be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me." (Matt. 10:36-38). Does that make sense to you? Is it realistic? Have you had such a serious attitude? Have you made a life-and-death commitment to bear the cross and follow the Lord, wherever he leads?

What elements interacted to cause human responsibility to fail'? Illicit love and the acquiring of satanic blood lineage have prevented mankind from fulfilling human responsibility. If people's bloodstream and lineage had remained connected with God's original lineage, human responsibility would have been automatically completed. Because of the human fall and unfulfilled human responsibility, a new will of God went into effect: salvation and restoration. Only after the fall did those concepts emerge.

Once His children had fallen, God could no longer deal directly with them. He could not reach out to mankind, and mankind could not reach out to Him, because the fall occurred during God's indirect dominion. God can exercise His power only when people reach His direct dominion. Otherwise, God has no way to deal with us.

Can people traveling the course of God's providence focus on having lots of fun and a wonderful time now, and still achieve salvation? How wonderful if it were the case! That is basically the way American young people- especially women-think. So what can we do? Men and women who think that way should be kicked out as detriments to the dispensation.

The Principle works to bring fallen generations back to God's direct, unstained, pure and original bloodstream, restoring mankind to God's original lineage. Only after you fulfill your human responsibility can God's lineage flow into your bloodstream, transforming you into a new person. Our ultimate goal is to be linked with God's lineage and become His true children. How can we bring Adam and Eve into oneness? How can we create that unified heavenly four-position foundation? How can we inherit God's lineage? By centering on God's love.

Does anyone here have a different idea? You are very wise people, but much of your energy has been spent in complaining and trying to dodge the mainstream work. Yet you still want to reap the benefits. Have you ever said, "I completely accept my human responsibility"'? Can you say it with confidence? Since you have not fulfilled all of your human responsibility, are you in God's direct of indirect dominion? Who controls the indirect dominion-God or Satan? You remain in Satan's realm until you enter God's direct dominion. Is this clear?

The important thing is not to run around all over the place, but to be enrolled in a certain course. You have to be clearly registered and connected with the professors who teach that course. Then, upon its completion, you will receive a certificate.

I have proclaimed the goal of uniting the peoples and religions of the entire world. God's game plan, or formula, is quite simple. First of all, God gives you the chance to fulfill human responsibility, and then comes the harvest. Those who fulfill will receive God's new lineage and enter heaven, like the grain. Those who fail shall remain in this hellish world, like the chaff that is thrown away.

Every person is destined to go this course, even though it might take billions of years in spirit world to finish it. All people must fulfill their responsibility. Your best opportunity is on earth. According to the principle of creation, human responsibility is supposed to be completed on earth, or in the spirit world. Have the major religious leaders, such as the Popes, cardinals and famous ministers, fulfilled all the requirements and attained God's direct dominion?

Suppose you worked throughout your life on earth, giving your very best, but you discover when you reach the spirit world that you had not completed the necessary courses? What would happen if you said, "I just want to stay here"? The rest of the spirit world would kick you out and tell you, "There is no place for you here." They would send you back!

You joined the Unification Church and have done your best. Now that you are blessed and have children, you might think of relaxing. But you still have responsibility, and if you fail to fulfill it, when you enter the spirit world, you will be judged by that failure. Your own children shall be your accusers. They will grab you and say, "Why didn't you do more and fulfill your responsibility?" Also, the wife might say to her husband, "Didn't you know the truth? Why didn't you treat me in a more disciplined way while we were on earth? You weren't serious about Father's dispensation, and so we ended up in hell. Why weren't you more stern and demanding? Why didn't you take human responsibility more seriously?" How tragic if the wife becomes her husband's accuser!

I know this absolute rule and principle. While I am here on earth, I have to teach it thoroughly and without compromising even one iota. Whatever the consequence, whether persecution or imprisonment, I must lay down a straight rule. Even though the United States opposes me, I will confront it squarely and fearlessly, because I have a job to do. Not even the strongest earthly power can prevent me from fulfilling my human responsibility. That is my mandate from God and my firm resolution.

You are my disciples and children, aren't you? In your position, can you say, "I don't care about human responsibility. Let Father do it?" Regarding indemnity, perhaps you rationalize and say, "Backward people from countries such as Korea might live that way, or Japanese people can do it. But we are American citizens. This is a free country, and we have everything we need." You are free, that is true, but you are not free from human responsibility.

How deadly in earnest God has been! He lost all His saints and martyrs, and He wants to restore this world using their blood sacrifice. This world has always been running away from Him. He is so serious now! But even God could not clearly specify what human responsibility is, because finding that out is also part of our responsibility, according to the Principle. If God could have led people by the hand directly to the goal, the world would never have become like it is.

Satan is always taunting God and saying, "People have to learn human responsibility and prove by the way they live that they are worthy of being Your sons and daughters. But none of them are doing it! That shows that all men and women on earth are my children. Don't touch them, God!" And God has to agree with Satan.

Once we go to the spirit world, the truth of this will become crystal clear. But it will be too late then. The tragedy will be even greater when men and women who knew about their human responsibility while on earth still failed to fulfill it.

I know clearly what has to be done and how to do it, and I can lead you by the hand. But sometimes I feel disgusted when I stand before you, because it is so impossible to lead you. I issue emergency instructions, but you take them lightly, saying, "Well, I'll do my best, I guess." And some people waste their time, just wanting to have fun. What a tragedy when God declares an emergency but none of His soldiers take it seriously enough to tackle it! I am speaking particularly to you leaders, you "big shots." l wear special eyeglasses of human responsibility, and I use them to check your movements and behavior, to see whether you pass their approval.

The great blessing of God's love is waiting to be bestowed, but no one is deserving, because your blood lineage is not pure enough to receive it. You have received the Blessing, but none of you really understands its importance and value. Sometimes this makes me feel deeply hurt and full of regret. My feelings about the Blessing are so deep: is it an immeasurable, priceless gift. But you handle it like an old pair of shoes. Those who have been blessed, raise your hands, please. Do you think the Blessing was just a simple child's game we played? On the contrary, it is a life-and-death showdown. The Blessing came to you upon my lifelong sacrifice. I paid an incredibly high price to give it to you, in order to connect the heavenly lineage to you.

Have you felt that your blood is different now'? Have you been reminding yourself, "I am connected to the heavenly lineage; now my whole body is God's'?" That is such a poignant realization. Have you experienced it? Only when you go beyond human responsibility can you deserve the Blessing. In a way, the truth is simple and clear.

Human responsibility has eight different levels, starting from the individual level and extending to the family, tribe, nation, world, universe and cosmos. God inspired the creation of the various religions of the world and has been cultivating them like wild olive trees so that when the Messiah came, He could engraft his lineage onto them. That is the entire purpose of the chosen people and the chosen religion. The Messiah is the one who first fulfills human responsibility and brings the heavenly lineage with which to engraft the wild olive trees, so that they can become true olive trees.

The Unification Church culture, centered upon True Parents, who represent true love and God's true lineage, shall be propagated to all of humanity, creating a new culture and a new world. That is the essence of the Unification Church culture and the mission of the Unification Church. Only through this channel can the Kingdom of God become a reality on earth. Only as we spread the truth and overcome the world's ignorance, gaining acceptance of the True Parents, can the Kingdom of Heaven emerge on earth.

This is the mission of the Messiah and the Unification Church. The heavenly four-position foundation lost to Satan must be restored. Therefore, wherever the Unification movement goes, Satan and God inevitably have a showdown, because that is where life and death, heaven and hell, and the victory of God or Satan are determined.

You Unification Church members sometimes think you have nothing to do with Jesus. That is erroneous. Actually, the Unification Church was born at the time of Jesus, who came to be the True Parent 2,000 years ago. Had he been able to fulfill everything without going through the crucifixion, the Unification Church would have begun in his time. Moreover, the Roman Empire would not have fallen; the world would long ago have been united; and there would have been no room for communism on earth.

The close of World War II was another ripe opportunity. The United States of America, as the key Christian nation of the modern world, could have led the entire world and heralded the coming of the Messiah at that time.

A wondrous miracle has taken place. Through discovering the Principle, I was able to telescope 6,000 Biblical years of fallen history, and particularly the past 2,000 years, into 20 years. I have condensed a long dispensation into a short time-making a long story short!

My efforts until the Holy Wedding in 1960 were to restore the position of Jesus. Therefore, I had to walk his path, because as Jesus' heir I could not move forward unless his position was completely vindicated and restored.

The 25 years from 1960 to 1985 has been the era of the True Parents. In 1960, the age of True Parents dawned. From 1960 to 1972, 1 laid the national foundation in Korea, which became the cornerstone of the worldwide foundation. During those 12 years, I declared the four heavenly holidays, set the pattern of true patriotism, and through the various organizations which we founded, laid a substantial foundation for the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. I also sent out all the blessed couples to the field, offering them as sacrifices for the redemption of the country. From 1970 on, I have encountered worldwide opposition, which was expected and normal.

During the 12 years from 1973 to 1985,1 expanded the foundation from the national to the worldwide level, centering upon the United States. We mobilized all the races of mankind and extended our foundation throughout the earth, in preparation for the global conflict with the worldwide satanic forces. This has been the time for planting the new tradition for the democratic world and the new tradition for international blessed families.

The pattern of struggle has been the same in both periods. On the national level in Korea, there were daily threats against my life. Now, in the United States I have faced tremendous opposition and persecution on an international scale, as you are well aware.

Actually, what is happening now in 1985 was supposed to have happened in 1945. Had established Christianity accepted me at the close of World War 11, what we are now witnessing would have occurred then. But because established Christianity failed, I spent 40 years in the international wilderness and finally volunteered for the crucifixion of Danbury. Because I was resurrected rather than defeated there, I opened the way for a new era of total religious and international unity. I have succeeded in restoring every level of the dispensation-individual, family, tribal, national, worldwide, universal and cosmic.

The Cain-Abel relationship is the classic pattern of providence. So far, Cain has tried to control everything. When established Christianity is Cain, the Unification Church is Abel. But attitudes have been gradually changing, particularly after my incarceration at Danbury; now established Christianity is approaching the position of a Cain who accepts the leadership of Abel. The United States government is Cain to the Christian churches, who are Abel; but the government has been more powerful and has been exerting its will over the churches. In world affairs the United States has been trying to control everything. The democratic world, centering on the United States, is Abel, and the communist world, centering on the Soviet Union, is unquestionably Cain; but both Cain and Abel have been lost and filled with chaos.

So the Cain-Abel relationship clearly exists on every level, even within the Unification Church. According to the Principle, unless unity between Cain and Abel is restored, the parents cannot emerge. After World War 11 God gave an unprecedented opportunity to the United States, a Christian nation, to assume the leadership of the entire world. At the close of World War 11, the Christian churches were filled with inspiration and glorified God for bringing them the victory. But they should have clung to God, remaining humble and praying for him to send His anointed one to lead America and the whole world. That should have been the focus of their prayers. They should have been waiting to receive the Messiah, the True Parents. Had all this happened 40 years ago, restoration would have been accomplished in virtually one stroke.

I was a young man at that time, but already I had uncovered the entire Principle. Conditions were as ripe then as they are today for leading the world back to God. Had the True Parents been accepted 40 years ago, with the nations and churches (as Cain and Abel) united and welcoming them, it would have taken only seven more years to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Communism would never have become so strong. However, the United States surrendered its responsibility and abandoned the world, and communism, which had been feeble, amassed power and took over nations one by one.

Korea was in the position to accept the True Parents first, but it opposed me instead. Established Korean Christianity became a tool of Satan and totally turned against me, and the Korean government immediately joined in the persecution. Thus, Satan snatched that opportune time.

Not only did Satan divide the Unification Church from the larger Christian community, but he also preyed on Christianity itself. Today Christianity in America has been infiltrated by godless attitudes, such as liberation theology and secular humanism. The world has become a wilderness and Satan is devouring it, left and right. It has become the target for Satan's rampant attacks.

Just as in the time of Moses, 40 years is the period for changing generations. The first generation which followed Moses died without entering Canaan. Likewise, the first generation after World War 11 which rejected the True Parents, has mostly passed away. The second generation is now ready to accept and embrace me. I had to pay the indemnity to make a link to his second generation and open the door to them.

For that reason, I trained Hyo Jin to be the Abel, or second generation leader, by having him direct the blessed children's workshops around my time in Danbury. The first was held a year ago, and the second one just finished in Korea on August 15. There are various Cain-Abel relationships within our church. When I am Abel, you're Cain. But the second generation is Abel to the first generation, as Cain. Your children, for instance are Abel and you are Cain. In my family, Hyo Jin and the second generation are Abel and I am Cain.

Now that the victory has been won in Danbury, I am setting up a clear channel of command, with the emergence of Hyo Jin as the second-generation Abel. My victory at Danbury also has meant my own resurrection, both physically and spiritually. I am now in the position of Lord of the Second Advent to the world. A new era has begun, in a way, so one of the most important issues now is the leadership of the second generation.

My period of incarceration at Danbury was also comparable to Moses' 40 days on Mount Sinai. Much confusion and chaos prevailed before I entered prison. But with my emergence as the victorious Lord of the Second Advent for the world, a new order has come into being. You have a new opportunity to renew your connection with the True Father. The Unification Church, established Christianity, and the whole world are being renewed through that relationship. My mission has also been renewed. The bond between the True Father and the second generation has been renewed. Moses himself died in the wilderness, unable to cross over into Canaan; only the second generation actually entered the promised land. Now Moses is resurrected physically and is personally leading the first and second generations together into Canaan!

During the Exodus, the Israelites had a simple direction: to follow Moses. They could survive by following him. By the same token, after my emergence as the new world leader, people will say, "A new Moses has arisen, the Reverend Moon. Our survival depends on following his direction."

Blessed couples have an absolutely crucial mission. All the Korean blessed couples went out to witness for three years, from 1970 to 1972, setting a new tradition for the national foundation in Korea. This time, the international blessed couples are going out to witness to the world, especially in America. During these next three years, we will set a worldwide foundation and tradition. I have already paid all the indemnity necessary to restore human responsibility on all levels from the individual to the global scale. Furthermore, I have planted God's true lineage on earth and laid its foundation and set its tradition. I am standing upon that foundation today.

You received the Blessing at your present level of the restored growth stage. But I want you to know that even though you are blessed, your indemnity condition and your human responsibility have not been fulfilled. One more stage remains before you can enter God's direct dominion. Chaos, misunderstanding and faithlessness may all occur during this final period. But when you finish that last step and enter God's direct dominion, Satan's accusation will leave you permanently These next three years until 1988 will be absolutely vital. If you blessed couples throughout the world unite with me and follow my instructions and fulfill your responsibility, we will all cross that final completion line.

The world is filled with confusion now. The Soviet Union is desperate. August 15, 1985 marked the 40th anniversary of the end of World War II. Before that date, I wanted it declared to the world that communism was coming to an end. Prominent academic leaders at the Second International Congress of the Professors World Peace Academy this summer predicted the end of world communism. I already foretold the decline of the United States 12 years ago. So the end of communism is near and the United States and the free world are declining. So who shall survive? Only those who uncompromisingly follow the will of God. They will be the remnant, the survivors.

Men and women who fulfill their human responsibility and receive the True Parents' direct lineage through the Blessing are the remnant, the grains which shall be harvested. You can carry out that task by going to the satanic world and subjugating it. You have inherited my tradition and the charge to teach it to all of America. This is the age for you and your families to take up the responsibility. Therefore, all the blessed couples shall be mobilized. Whoever is not involved in this mobilization has nothing to do with True Parents. Now is the time to cross the Jordan River. You can enter Canaan or remain in the wilderness. You need to be bold and strong. The two key words are bold and strong.

This country desperately needs a God-centered president, senators and congressmen. America's intellectual establishment is liberal, godless, secular, humanistic, and anti-religious. We are declaring war against three main enemies: godless communism, Christ-less American liberalism, and secular-humanistic morality. They are the enemies of God, the True Parents, the Unification Church, all of Christianity, and all religions. We are working to mobilize a united front against them. While I was in Danbury, I focused on uniting all religious people-regardless of their faith or denomination, race or culture-in a common cause.

Do you feel in your bones that established Christianity has turned towards us? This is the blessing I expected immediately following World War II. Because of the failure of established Christianity at that time, the road of providence has passed through 40 arduous years of indemnity. But after completing a huge circle, we have returned to that original time of blessing. In these 40 years of journeying in the wilderness, I re-indemnified everything through my blood, sweat, labor, and tears. If established Christianity had responded properly at first, that blessing would have swept across the country and throughout the world. Since I have re-indemnified everything, that opportunity has returned. Now, when you go out you will have a sweeping effect nationwide. You should expect to harvest an incredible victory.

Do you feel what I am saying in your bones? No matter what, we must remain committed during these three years. Please rise above all difficulties, opposition, persecution, and internal struggles. You blessed couples must set the tradition on the worldwide level; then you shall reap the great victory for everyone. We shall return this world to the original, unpolluted condition of the Garden of Eden and to the pure, unstained heavenly four-position foundation. That is our mandate for these next three years. We will leave no room for the opposition to invade.

Several major external events are scheduled for 1988: presidential elections in the United States and Korea, the election of a prime minister in Japan, and a change of leadership in Germany. The four major providential nations, representing Cain, Abel, Eve and Adam on the worldwide level, will decide their destiny in 1988. Korea is the Adam nation, Japan the Eve nation, the United States the restored heavenly archangel, and Germany the fallen archangel. This is the dispensational significance of these four nations.

Germany is divided vertically, between East and West; the East belongs to satanic communism and the West to the free world. Korea is divided horizontally, at the 38th parallel, between North and South. In North Korea, Kim II Sung has taken the position of satanic parent of the nation, while in the South, there are True Parents. By overcoming North Korea and East Germany in one way or another, we will make the condition to solve the world's problems and end the struggle between communism an the free world. Who shall bring that solution? Secular national leaders cannot solve these problems. Only leaders who know God's will and God's mandate can do it. That day is at hand.

Shall we work to receive this blessing and eliminate the need for indemnity? Shall we take the final leap forward-or give up our mission now? What do you think? We shall fulfill human responsibility and create a sphere free of indemnity. We shall build a True Parent centered society. We shall create the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and make our final settlement. God's people have never been able to settle. Final settlement must come. We have been the objects of ridicule wherever we have gone. But that shall change. In the next three years, Moonies shall become honored, respected and revered.

Your children shall be free from persecution and opposition; they will not need to pay indemnity for the past. They will truly live in the Kingdom of Heaven from birth on and will automatically enter the Kingdom of Heaven in spirit world. That is the kind of foundation you as a parent can lay.

Did you hear my plans to mobilize 7,000 people to go to Korea: We have already educated more than 7,000 Christian ministers. Imagine bringing 7,000 American ministers following Reverend Moon to Korea, under the banner of CAUSA! That would have an impact on the entire nation.

The fallen archangel, Germany, must follow the United States, the heavenly archangel. The United States must follow Japan, the Eve nation. Japan must follow Korea, the Adam nation. The ultimate showdown will take place in Korea. Therefore, the United States cannot pull out of Korea; the archangel must save Adam. At the fall, the archangel turned against Adam, instead of serving him. God's side and Satan's side are both moving in the same direction. North Korea is in the position of satanic Adam, Red China is satanic Eve, and the Soviet Union is the satanic archangel. When the four nations on God's side unite, the satanic side will split apart. Red China is already rebelling against the communist ideology and will inevitably turn in God's direction.

If Korea, Japan, the United States and Germany unite and move together during these next three years, incredible things will happen. The Occidental cultural sphere is moving towards the Orient. The sun rises from the East and goes to the West. World culture as well is moving toward the East. The Cain-type cultures of the West have taken the subjective role around the world, while the Abel-type cultures of the East have been in the objective role. But the subject and object positions are now reversing; the United States and the Christian cultures have begun to admire and strive to emulate the Oriental cultures. The Unification culture is the Adam culture towards which everything is moving.

Today the United States is trailing behind Japan in many fields, including technology, scientific research, computers, and automation. This is how God is turning the world. At the fall, Eve handed her entire power over to the archangel. Now the archangel is returning its power to the heavenly angel and to Eve; through Eve, Adam will be restored. This is happening today on the worldwide level.

Eventually I would like to see Koreans, Japanese, Americans and Germans living together in the same building. There will be condominiums to house international families and communities. The children of families in the same complex will intermarry and live as part of a larger community, like one great family growing up together. This will be our tradition. Such communities will be our tribes. Without a pattern of tribal life, we will never be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Do you understand? We have not yet set this heavenly tradition.

You international blessed couples are very precious. International couples will become highly respected and valued. The era of white supremacy is past. Whoever still harbors feelings of white supremacy in the Unification Church has a satanic attitude.

A great providential opportunity is at hand. Now that you know the complete picture, God and True Parents are giving a mandate to all members of the Unification Church-especially blessed couples-to be mobilized. Marching orders have been issued. We are going to the front line. The day will come when even if you volunteer for the front line, there will be no more mobilization. There are growing numbers of people who, although they are not even members of the Unification Church, are investing much time, effort, and even tears in the study and propagation of the Principle. What is the difference between you and them? Even though they study Principle so much harder than you, unless they pay a certain amount of indemnity they cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven. Your indemnity is your advantage.

Who will conquer the worldwide Satan? Ultimately, it is up to you. You have to confront Satan. True Parents can give you all the guidance and direction you need, but you will force the ultimate showdown-not us. When the world totally embraces the Unification Church and no longer opposes us, you should volunteer for labor camps and coal mines! We will have to create some indemnity course within our own system! I will give directions about that.

When the world accepts the Unification Church, should we become self-satisfied and boast, "Our day has come! Hallelujah!"? Not at all. Do you think your children, the second generation, will have their own portion of human responsibility, they too shall be accused; they may not end up in hell, but heavenly law will chastise them, because the law of indemnity still applies.

We are now assembling like the Israelites at the time of Moses. You have been given your marching orders. Please don't complain like the ten faithless spies. Be like Joshua and Caleb and cross the Jordan River to challenge the city of Jericho with victorious faith. This is the standard and tradition that the blessed families in the United States should establish.

I will pass on to you the fruits on my 40 years of indemnity during these next three years. God suffered for 6,000 biblical years. Through my 40 years of indemnity, I could receive from Him a great inheritance, which I am ready to give to you, upon the completion of your three years of service.

Centered upon God and the True Parents, the heavenly four-position foundation has already been erected. The final heavenly four-position foundation will be composed of God, the True Parents' family foundation, the True Children's family foundations, and your own blessed family foundations. That heavenly four-position foundation by families is the ultimate foundation. Within that, there is no room for Satan. Does the Principle indicate that Satan can invade such a foundation? This is the absolute foundation-absolute God, absolute True Parents, absolute faith of the True Children, and absolute faith of the blessed couples. That leaves no loophole for Satan.

In the Garden of Eden there were no boundaries. Eventually national boundaries shall also disappear. In the ideal world you can go anywhere. The whole of modern technology developed to help fulfill God's ideal. We have been expecting this time. Our only responsibility is to make one final jump, set out on the one final march. You blessed couples have been given your marching orders.

Those who will respond by saying, "Now I am determined to carry out the True Parents' wishes. I will fulfill that goal. I will accomplish God's will"-please stand up. Raise your hands. Do you pledge before me to fulfill your human responsibility and to live up to my expectations?

What is the purpose of the Unification Church? To unite the world's religions, centered upon the will of God. Rev. Moon is the founder of the Unification Church, but that does not mean the Unification Church exists to do the will of Rev. Moon. No, Rev. Moon exists to do the Will of God. Then what is the will of God? The average religious person usually has no clear idea. But the Unification Church has a crystal-clear idea. Simply put, God's will is to fulfill the purpose of creation -- the completion or perfection of the universe and the perfection of human beings. When men and women are perfected, the universe will also be perfected. Thus the completion of the ideal of creation is the completion of the heavenly four position foundation.

The heavenly four position foundation begins from one individual. The mind and body of the individual must become united under the one lineage of God, so that the person becomes God's man or woman. That is the first stage. Then the man and woman of that perfection create a family -- husband, wife, and children. The entire focus of God's thought is upon the completion of this heavenly four position foundation. God does not care whether it is American, Korean, Japanese or whatever. The only thing He cares about is seeing the perfection of Adam and Eve within the Garden of Eden.

God's One Desire

God's desire is one: for man to fulfill human responsibility, so that we can climb out of the indirect dominion of God into the direct dominion, where man and God can become totally one. We are the group of people who are volunteering to fulfill the will of God; we are supposed to be the champions of the achievement of God's will. You might think, "We are free American people. We don't need Rev. Moon's sermons. How much have you Americans been thinking about human responsibility? Rev. Moon is the most serious person in the world about human responsibility and he is offering his very life for its fulfillment.

Let us think about the point at which God and Satan departed from each other. They were separated during the period of the fulfillment of human responsibility. If human responsibility and the angel's responsibility had been properly fulfilled, do you think we would have seen the emergence of Satan? No.

Satan is holding mankind in a choke hold. Satan is saying, "As long as you fail to fulfill your human responsibility, you don't belong to God. You belong to me. I have you by the neck!' Satan knows this is true and God has to agree; however, human beings have been ignorant of this fact. Only by the coming of Rev. Moon has this ignorance been conquered. Now human responsibility has been presented dearly. Once a person has fulfilled his human responsibility, do you think Satan could ever conquer him? No. By the same token, God can never abandon such a person. There is an agreement between Satan and God to this effect. Everything hinges upon human responsibility.

Even if nuclear war happened today and the entire world were totally demolished, still human responsibility would remain. It will not go away. So the most fearful thing in our lives is not necessarily the atomic bomb or nuclear warfare; it is unfulfilled human responsibility.

Why was human responsibility never fulfilled? Illicit love and the beginning of the satanic lineage prevented man from fulfilling it. If man's bloodstream and lineage had been connected with God's original source, the completion would have been automatic. But after the fall of man, when mankind failed to fulfill original human responsibility, a new will of God emerged: salvation and restoration.

Your Best Opportunity Is Now

Only after your fulfillment of human responsibility in the course of restoration will God's lineage be connected to you, to your bloodstream. Only then will you become a new person. Our ultimate goal is to link ourselves with God's own lineage, so that we can become the true children of God. It is every person's destiny to go this way, even though it might take some people billions of years in the spirit world. While you are here on earth you have the best opportunity to fulfill it. If you fail to fulfill it, you will be judged when you enter spirit world. Who shall be your accusers? Your own children. They will grab you and say, "Why didn't you do more and fulfill your responsibility?" And a wife can say to her husband, "Didn't you know the truth? You weren't serious about Father's dispensation and so we ended up in hell. Why weren't you more stern and demanding about making us fulfill our human responsibility?"

How deadly serious God has been! He has lost all His saints and martyrs, and with their blood sacrifice He wants to restore this world. This world has been running away from Him, so how much more serious He is now! God does not clearly tell us what our human responsibility is. Finding out what our human responsibility is is part of our human responsibility, according to the Principle. If God could lead people by the hand directly to the goal, the world would not have become the way it is. Satan is always laughing at God, saying, "Human responsibility has to be learned, and Your children must follow the route by which they can prove themselves worthy of being Your sons and daughters. But none of them are doing it! That shows that all men and women on earth are my children, God! Don't touch them'? God has to agree with Satan.

Once we go to the spirit world, this will become crystal clear. But then it will be too late. Even more tragic than that is the man or woman who has learned about his or her human responsibility while here on earth but failed to fulfill it. Rev. Moon knows clearly what has to be done and how to do it, and I could lead you by the hand, but sometimes I feel disgusted standing before you because it is almost impossible to lead you. When True Parents issue emergency orders you still take them lightly, saying, "Well, I'll do my best, I guess!" And some of you just waste your time, just wanting to have fun. When God declares an emergency but none of His soldiers are serious enough to tackle that emergency, it is a tragedy.

You Do Not Understand The Pricelessness Of The Blessing

I am watching everybody through special eyeglasses -- your movements, your behavior -- to see whether you fulfill your human responsibility or not. Centering upon the love of God, there is a great blessing to be given out, but there is no one there to deserve it, because your blood lineage is not pure enough to receive it. You received the Blessing, but none of you really understand the importance and value of your Blessing. Sometimes I feel deeply hurt by this and have many regrets. My feelings about the Blessing are so deep -- it is an immeasurable gift, priceless. But you treat your Blessing as if it were an old pair of shoes.

Do you think the Blessing is just a simple child's game we play? The Blessing is a life-or-death showdown. The Blessing came to you upon the lifelong sacrifice of the True Father. I paid the price to give it to you, in order to connect the heavenly lineage to you. The price for that was very high. Have you felt, "My blood is different now. I am connected to the Heavenly lineage. My whole body is God's now"? That is a poignant realization. Men and women have to fulfill their human responsibility; only then can you deserve the Blessing.

My period of incarceration at Danbury was comparable to Moses' time on Mt. Sinai; all kinds of confusion and chaos happened while I was in prison. Therefore, when I emerged as the victorious Second Advent, a new order came into being. This is the time of new opportunity for you to renew your relationship with the True Parents. The Unification Church is renewing that relationship, as are the world and established Christianity. The second generation's relationship with the True Father is also being renewed. Moses himself could not enter into Canaan; he died in the wilderness. Except for two, none of the first generation actually entered the Promised Land. But this time Moses is resurrected physically, so he is able to lead both the first and second generations himself into Canaan.

During the time of the Exodus, the Israelites had a simple direction: follow Moses. That was the way for them to survive. By the same token, during the 20th century and after my emergence as the new leader the world will say, "A new Moses has emerged -- Rev. Moon. By following his direction, we survive."

The mission of the blessed couples is absolutely crucial. All the Korean blessed couples went pioneering for three years, from 1972 to 1975. They set a new tradition for the national foundation of Korea. This time, international blessed couples are pioneering in America, which represents the world. During these next three years, we are setting up our tradition on the world level.

One More Step To Go

You have reached the growth stage and have been given the Blessing. But even though you are blessed, your indemnity conditions and our human responsibility have not been fulfilled. You have to go one more step in order to enter the direct dominion of God. Then the accusation of Satan will leave you permanently. These three years, until 1988, are going to be absolutely vital. If you blessed couples on the worldwide level unite with me and follow my instructions and fulfill your responsibility, then everybody will cross over that final completion line together. Only those men and women who follow the will of God without compromise shall be the survivors.

In order to fulfill that responsibility, you are going out to the satanic world to subjugate it. You inherit my tradition and the responsibility to teach all of America about our tradition. Is this the era for me to fulfill, or for you to fulfill? Not only you, but your families. Therefore, all the blessed couples shall be mobilized. Anyone who does not involve himself in this mobilization is damaging his or her relationship to the True Parents. This is almost like the time of crossing the Jordan River; this is the moment to decide whether you enter into Canaan or remain in the wilderness. You have to be bold and strong.

We are declaring war against three main enemies: Godless communism, Christless American liberalism, and secular humanism. They are the enemies of God, the True Parents, the Unification Church, the rest of Christianity, and all of religion. We are trying to mobilize a united front. While I was in Danbury, my efforts were focused on uniting all religious people, regardless of their faith, denomination, race, or culture.

We have gone around in a huge circle and now the time has arrived for the blessing that should have come forty years ago. If Christianity had responded properly then, that blessing would have swept the country and the whole world. Since I reindemnified everything over the past forty years, your work now will have that sweeping effect on the country. That is the kind of victory you should expect to harvest.

There Will Be No More Room For Opposition

Do you feel this to the bone? No matter what, during these three years we must remain committed. No matter what opposition, persecution, or internal difficulties we face -- we must rise above them. You blessed couples shall set the tradition on the worldwide level and you shall reap the great victory for everyone. We will eventually bring this world to the position of the pure, unpolluted Garden of Eden, in which there is no stain on the heavenly four positions. We shall work for these three years and then there will be no room for opposition.

We shall fulfill our human responsibility and create the realm in which indemnity is no longer necessary. Furthermore, we will build a society which is truly God-centered -- the Kingdom of Heaven on earth -- and make our final settlement. We have not been able to settle yet. The Moonies have been the objects of ridicule wherever we have gone. But that is going to change. In the next three years, Moonies shall become the object of honor and respect. Thus your children will be able to live in a world in which they will not receive persecution or opposition; indemnity will not even be necessary. They will be entitled to live in the Kingdom of Heaven at their birth and throughout their lives.

I would like to eventually see Korean, Japanese, German, and American people living together in the same apartment building. We are going to have condominiums in which international families forming communities will live. Your children's marriages will take place among the people of those communities. It will be like one large family growing up together. This is going to be the tradition. You will live as communities and tribes; so tribal life will be our pattern. Without such a pattern, we will not be able to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. So you can see we do not have our heavenly tradition yet.

You international blessed couples are very precious. The old-hat era of "white supremacy" is over. If anyone in the Unification Church harbors the attitude of white supremacy, they have a satanic attitude. This great dispensational opportunity is at hand. Now that you know the complete picture, the mandate is being given by God and the True Parents for all the members of the Unification Church, especially the blessed couples, to be mobilized.

You Must Be The Ones To Conquer Satan

The time will eventually come when, even if you want to volunteer for mobilization, there will be no opportunity. There are growing numbers of people who are not even members of the Unification Church, but who are spending more time, labor, and effort for the study and propagation of the Principle than you are. But what is the difference between you and them? Even though they study so much harder than you, unless they pay a certain amount of indemnity, they will not be as advanced as you in reaching the Kingdom of Heaven.

Who is going to conquer the worldwide Satan? Ultimately it is you. You have to confront Satan. The True Parents can give you guidance and direction, but ultimately the showdown must be made by you. When the world totally embraces the Unification Church and gives us no more opposition, we will have to create our own indemnity road, our own "labor camps; within our system.

We must gather together with Moses. You have been given your marching orders, so you must not complain like the ten faithless tribes. You must be like the tribes of Joshua and Caleb and go over the Jordan River to the city of Jericho with victorious faith. This is the standard and tradition for the blessed families of the United States to establish. The fruits of my forty years of indemnity shall be passed on to you during these next three years. I could inherit God's 6,000 biblical years of suffering through my forty years of indemnity. Now I am ready to give the inheritance to you upon the completion of your three years of service.

Centered on God and the True Parents, the heavenly four position foundation is already erected. The final heavenly four position foundation will be God, the True Parents' family foundation, the True Children's family foundations, and your blessed family foundations. That is the heavenly four position foundation by families. That is the ultimate one. With that, there is no room for Satan.

In the Garden of Eden there were no boundaries. Eventually we shall have no more national boundaries. Anyone in the ideal world will be able to travel anywhere within one day. All of our modern technological development is for the sake of the coming of that one day -- for God's day. We have been waiting for this time and all we have to do is give one final push, make our final march. Those who are blessed members of the Unification Church, who have been given your marching orders by the True Parents, and who say, "Now I am determined to live out the True Parents' wishes and go on to fulfill that goal and do the will of God," please stand up. Raise your hands. Now do you pledge in front of me to fulfill your human responsibility and to live up to my expectations? Thank you and God bless you.

Victory Celebration

I feel sorry for those of you who have been waiting here since morning! I knew all along that you were here, expecting me to come. But as you know, last night's banquet and program in Washington DC finished around 10:00. Then we drove back to East Garden, arriving after 2:00 this morning. After only a short rest, I began to receive the many reports from the major leaders. Before I give directions and a vision for the future, I wanted to hear each of the reports. I didn't waste even one second to get to you today. You understand, don't you?

If I began to give a sermon, it would probably continue throughout the night! We have many things on our agenda today, so I will give you only a short talk, and then you can listen to other reports, in order to get an overall view of what has been happening, particularly the events of yesterday.

The essence of my course to fulfill God's providential will has been restoration through indemnity. As you know, when I came to the United States, I came as a lone individual, unnoticed, unassuming and unrecognized. But what happened? I built our movement up to the worldwide level, reaching a peak in 1976. Step by step, I have been winning victories for the restoration. But there should be some moment of ultimate victory, a grand finale for God's whole dispensation for the United States.

The U.S. government's intention in indicting me was not so much to wage a court battle, but to scare me out of this country. The indictment was issued while I was out of the country, and the Department of Justice hoped that I would not return. But their expectations were totally wrong. To avoid that battle would have meant acknowledging defeat without putting up a fight. They didn't know that I have always taken the path of restoration through indemnity. I will never shy away from indemnity. Therefore, I willingly returned to face the battle. Furthermore, many outstanding people in history have been wrongly condemned through a court decision. I didn't try to escape because I knew that I could not avoid any battle, small or large, if I expected to turn around the destiny of history.

Jesus Christ was condemned and crucified by the government of his time. Many saints were persecuted and condemned by evil governments. History has been stained as evil continually tries to stop righteous people. Thus, some champion must finally come forward and win the victory, not only for himself but to vindicate providential history and all the saints who were victimized by the evil political systems of their time.

In this modern day, I have set the record for defying the established order of this evil world, struggling not just for my own sake, but on behalf of all good people of the past. When I came to the United States, I presented a challenge to this gigantic country, to its three branches of government, and to its people. I acted out of a historical principle, to ensure the future survival of this country.

Two thousand years ago, Satan and his forces celebrated at Jesus' crucifixion. "By George, we finally got him!" they rejoiced. "That man Jesus has disappeared from the face of the earth and from history as well." The day that I entered prison, Satan and all those who look upon me as their adversary thought, "By George, we got him! Finally, we have locked him up in Danbury. He is finished. Now we can relax!" But what happened? God had the power to resurrect Jesus from the tomb. Because I know God's tremendous power, I, too, was anticipating a great historical victory. "Danbury is the modern-day crucifixion," I told myself, "but I will turn the hill of Danbury into the hill of victory and resurrection."

I was released from Danbury on July 4, 1985, America's Independence Day. Thus it became my independence day as well. So in a way, I took over American history! The following 43 days were the resurrection period. I declared to the American members and leaders that those 43 days were the time to restore and resurrect all the wrong doings of the past. We started an educational program, including newspaper advertisements, to present the truth about the case against Reverend Moon to all America and the entire world. This time period was exactly comparable to the 400 years during which the Roman Empire defied Jesus' followers before finally accepting Christianity. So this time period indemnified the first four centuries of Christian history.

Furthermore, even though Jesus Christ was resurrected, his foundation was only a spiritual one, because he was physically crucified; he founded the spiritual movement of Christianity. But my resurrection is not only spiritual but also physical; therefore, the new victorious path we are beginning shall be not only spiritual but also physical.

Jesus' crucifixion of 2,000 years ago began a period of incredible persecution for his followers, because their power was only spiritual; the physical world remained in the hands of Satan. But we are different. Because my resurrection was both spiritual and physical, I will conquer all persecution and truly bring in a new era of welcome by the United States and the world for our movement.

I thoroughly understand the law of indemnity. Therefore, I knew precisely what I had to do. No one else could take my place in the Danbury dispensation. Step by step I fulfilled all the requirements. In the meantime, I found a way to make a link with those established Christian leaders who had formerly opposed us. These things happened not because you worked very hard-although I know you did-but because God's timetable called for them. The trend of history has reached this level. Therefore, when you push that trend forward with boldness, strength and determination, you shall win a great victory. You can push over the wall now, and no one will persecute you.

For example, the Washington Post, that Satan of Satans, that servant of servant's newspaper, has tormented our movement and criticized us continually. But when they reported on yesterday's banquet, they were like angels. They became completely obedient to the Holy Spirit, even printing an attractive picture of Mother and me!

Everything has its own time. I came to America as a prophet, vehemently predicting her decline unless she underwent a spiritual revolution. This was my first warning. The second warning was given through the academic circles. Three hundred prominent scholars announced the imminent end of communism at the Second International Congress of the Professors World Peace Academy held in Geneva August 13 through 15.

Everybody today is desperately searching for some ray of hope. They are looking for leaders who can bring salvation to America, and they haven't found any. But once they come into contact with me, they take heart and sense that only Reverend Moon and his teaching can bring hope to the United States. Many young people are confused and directionless. But the youth who belong to the Unification Church, under my guidance, are bright and confident, going forward with determination. It is amazing how others see hope for America through you. Many ministers from traditional churches have become burned out spiritually, but upon hearing our message they come alive. Finally they see a ray of hope.

I know clearly that many people in this country have come to the private belief that the only future hope for politics, business, finance, schools, and other aspects of this society will come through Reverend Moon. They may not say it, but they have concluded that Revered Moon will ignite the spiritual revolution that will save this country. Many young people have been rebellious, even violent at times, in their quest for new excitement and direction. They have organized demonstrations against various forms of the establishment. They have experimented with drugs. But none of these things has brought them satisfaction. Finally they are concluding that they need to examine Reverend Moon, since he is the one avenue left.

People observe a different quality in the young men and women who follow me; they see purity and goodness, as well as determination, and they wonder what causes it. They are also coming to realize clearly that members of the Unification Church are not robots; they are bright and intelligent people. When they saw you fundraising and working so hard, they used to think that you were just foolish or brainwashed. But they have found that Unification Church people are some of the brightest people under the sun, and they want to know why you do what you do.

People are also trying to understand me through CAUSA activities. Thousands of ministers have learned about my worldview, and many have concluded it is the answer. In the academic world, prominent scholars who had become discouraged found new hope when they studied my teaching. Many political and business leaders have come to the conclusion that I am their hope. So not only religious leaders, but people from all facets of our society have begun to realize that the free world can survive only by following Reverend Moon's way.

Am I just dreaming all this, or is it happening? Who made it happen? Suppose a rich family is giving a wedding reception for one of its members. For whom is that banquet being held? No matter how noble and great that family may be, the principal figures are the bride and bridegroom. Even an ugly bride or a crippled groom is the central figure on his or her wedding day.

Likewise, a gigantic banquet is being prepared in the Western world, and everybody is invited. God is hosting this banquet. I have been the object of controversy and persecution wherever I go, but for God, who is most important at that banquet? What kind of affair would last night's God and Freedom banquet have been without Reverend and Mrs. Moon? You and God have been putting forth all your efforts to bring it about, but still, there must be a central figure. The True Parents occupied that position, so True Parents made it a success.

The entire communist world today fears me most because they know that I alone have the strategy and ideology that can defeat them. Within the communist world there is one group which really hates communism: the children of the communist bosses. They know the failure of communism, to which their parents have been devoted. They know that their parents have been trying to discredit and destroy me, so they automatically consider me their ally. That second generation of the communist world will eventually have no recourse but the True Parents. Here they will see a new age dawning.

So the end of communism has been declared. Secular humanism cannot solve the world's problems, and the United States cannot survive as it is. Therefore, Godism- which is neither democracy, nor communism, nor secular humanism-is the wave of the future.

I have a problem! The United States has been coming after me, trying to grab me; likewise, the communists are trying to grab me. Should I run away now? What do you mean by "NO"? I see a lot of work ahead. People are grabbing at me, always asking me for something. They are like the two thieves with Jesus on the cross, one on his left and one on his right. Now on a worldwide scale thieves are coming after me and trying to grab me! I am overburdened; a lot of energy is needed to pull both sides of the world. Do you still want me to suffer? I am already struggling with the burden of trying to save the United States, and now the communist world wants me to save them. What shall I do? Central and South Americans, Africans and Asians are pleading with me to save their country. What can I do? Suppose there is only one rice cake and hundreds of people are asking for a piece of it? I cannot mistreat everybody, so maybe I should go away and hide!

But God's thinking is different. He is beaming from ear to ear and rejoicing, "Finally, my day has come. I know that my son can take care of them, so now I can go and take a nap!"

Under such circumstances I cannot say, "God, I'm running away! You give me too much, I cannot bear it." If I did that, the whole world would suffer. Unable to turn aside, I will say to God, "All right, then, but I have one request to make. You know, Heavenly Father, I have been working tirelessly for 40 years. These crops I have produced took 40 years to nurture. You know it takes time to transform people and to raise them up to be true soldiers of heaven. So how much time will You give me?"

I know God so well. His temper is quite short-far shorter than mine. He longs for this whole fallen world to be transformed into heaven in a flash, but I don't have a large enough foundation yet to do that. On the other hand, I cannot ask Him for another 40 years. This whole first generation would be gone by then, and I would have to start out with new babies to raise and train as soldiers over the next 40 years. I couldn't do that. So I have to find some prepared people, arm them with the truth, and send them out to proclaim it. God needs such soldiers. Imagine what it would take to feed the four billion people in this world. To give each one three spoonfuls would require 12 billion movements!

I must push the so-called elders of the Unification Church down to the ground. When they are pushed like that, what kind of position do you have? You may be thinking, "Boy, Father told us that good times are ahead, and we've been waiting for them. But Father, what are you saying now? More indemnity?"

I told you that a good time was coming, and what I meant was the end of persecution. That does not mean you are going to be idle; I never promised that. The time has come for Moonies to have pride in themselves. That is the true good time. It is good to be proud of being a Moonie, but when you see the size of the task before you, you may feel like running from the avalanche! As I said, I feel like hiding somewhere. Are you thinking that way too?

I truly feel that my worldwide indemnity path is over. God knows it, and I am sure that He is ready to give me a vacation. Not only that, but also a bonus ticket to go anywhere and buy anything I want! But I would have to say to God, "I have a problem. I can't take a vacation. Look at my children, the Moonies. They all want to accompany me wherever I go!" Is that true?

An infant needs frequent bottles and diaper changes, so I can understand when a baby cries out to be with his mommy or daddy wherever they go. But you are all grown up now; you no longer need bottles or diapers. So if you try to follow me, I will push you away and protest, "Why are you trying to follow me and make me suffer more? Don't you know I already suffered enough?" That is how I feel today.

This is a critical moment for the Unification Church because we are on the threshold of a gigantic liftoff. If we misjudge things, we will crash. Mount McKinley is the highest peak in the United States. But such an imposing mountain must have extensive roots. A high mountain needs a corresponding foundation underground. So, too, you must have a spiraling effect and encompass larger and larger areas, embracing whole countries, such as the United States, in your circle. To save people means to embrace them.

Have you lost your courage? Those who attended the banquet last night, how did you feel? It was an incredible scene. Mother and I had not time to eat! The ministers were supposed to be eating, but they weren't either. They were continually coming to have their pictures taken with us, to shake hands with us. I observed a contrast between the Unification Church members and the ministers last night. The ministers were trying to reach out and touch my hand. One told me, "Reverend Moon, I must embrace you." But when the Unification Church members came up, they just stood humbly with lowered heads, as if asking, "Father, what is the indemnity today?"

You say I always send you out to do fundraising and witnessing, but it is precisely because of those activities that today's phenomena are occurring. Aren't you proud of what you are? Those ministers wonder how in the world I can train such bright and capable young people to do such a drastic thing as fundraising! They are amazed, and they feel that the same order will soon come to them. They are trying to get ready! Soon they will seek out people to teach them fundraising techniques. Who are those teachers? You are. Will you be ready when they ask you to teach them?

You have to be able to exercise authority. You need to be able to educate ministers. Can you? You want to be trusted, don't you? So I must test you. The next several months will be your test. Can you pass it, or will you make excuses and try to escape things like fundraising? You know, you have lied to me many times. So often, you have answered yes. You have said, "Trust me, Father," and I trusted you, over and over again. But your promises always ended up empty.

Even after all my persecution, I feel no bitterness. Now I want you, too, to be vindicated and to be in a position to forgive others. I want to be able to present you proudly to the world as my fruit. I knew that while you were resting, if I didn't do certain things, this nation would go down the drain. I could not expect somebody else to do it. I had to do it myself. So I poured out my energy, and tens of thousands of our members elsewhere made incredible sacrifices as well.

It is so amazing that even the communist countries have now become helpless and unable to unravel their own problems. They see me as their only help. Red China is one example. Even leaders in the free world are thinking that way. They have tried every possible solution and nothing worked; so now they see me as their hope.

I knew this would happen, so I did not want to be dependent on any nation or government. Many nations in the free world have a lot of power. But I always felt that I would build up still greater strength. Even in the fields of scientific research and technology, I am becoming very influential. There is a lot you don't know about in this area. You don't realize what I am really doing.

At the head table last night, there were about 40 people, most of whom I had just met for the first time. But they felt they had known me for ten years. There were scholars, politicians, ministers and other types of people. They were aware of what I had been doing in different fields.

Do you want me to run away and hide somewhere? There is one simple solution. When only one person bears a burden, it is huge. But if we chop it into pieces and each one of you picks up one piece, we can carry it, right? Will you ask for the smallest or the largest piece'? The Japanese people are very logical and clever, so they may think that since their bodies are smaller, they naturally deserve a smaller piece. Are you Americans saying, "We are big people, so give us a big piece"? The clever Japanese know that the more results they bring, the more their storehouses will be filled. So they will work like ants, trying to bring in the largest pieces of responsibility into their granaries. Will you Americans stand back and say, "We Americans are very noble and dignified; you Japanese go ahead and take it"? What kind of dignity is that? If your wife is taken away, your children are starving, your country is in flames, and all the people are being destroyed, what dignity will you have? What will you do then?

All this time, the Japanese people have been ahead of everybody else, always going to the front line. Don't you want to change that now? You Americans should take the front line now, don't you agree? Those Americans who want to be on the front line, please stand up. I want to see you. All right, sit down. Those who did not stand up, stand up now.

Should I stay here or go away? It is a pleasure to stand back and watch you do the front-line work; then I am in a sort of retired position! I am in vacation attire today. I took off my sock. If that were the way to save the world, how easy it would be! I could take off both socks. If I could deliver a sermon wearing only swimming trunks and save the world that way, I would do that. If disco-dancing would bring salvation, I would do that.

I told the Japanese members they may disco-dance, as long as men and women do not touch each other. They are holding an international dance contest. Healthy and beautiful men and women are dancing, but without touching. There shall be no disco conference for the United States movement yet. I have allowed it in Japan because the Japanese people have been working just like ants!

So you Americans please listen to me. Would you like to be defeated in a contest between the American and the Japanese movement'? Do you want to challenge them? The contest will be one of achievement. When you answer yes, what you are actually saying is, "Father, we will take over your job. If you go away, there will be no problem. If you stay here, we are happy." Is that right? In a way, you are inheriting my mission. I have earned this inheritance over the past 40 years, and I would like to turn it over to you in three and a half years. Of course, there are less than three and a half years remaining, but in this short time left, I would like to be able to bestow this inheritance upon you.

This is Canaan time. On the universal scale, we are entering the land of Canaan. Therefore, this is the crucial time. Yesterday I spoke about this. Please don't look back to Egypt. We must look forward to the new tradition of Canaan which we need to establish. That shall be done by 1988.

The heavenly four-position foundation must be firmly grounded in the land of Canaan. Two threads alone cannot form a strong rope; at least three are needed. Then multitudes can be added to it. Each time we twist the rope, it will become stronger. The heavenly four positions are the core of that rope. When the four-position rope is turning, you can add anything to it and it will be absorbed. Societies, races, nations and the world can all be entwined and digested.

Upon my return from Danbury, a new era of family mobilization has begun. The past was the era of individual mobilization. But now we will mobilize families. I know that many people have said negative things about mobilizing entire families, but you will see the incredible results in a few years. Once we win the victory of Canaan as family units, the international settlement will take place. We will be able to transform this world into a heavenly one.

The time has come. This is a wonderful time for witnessing. Witnessing used to be your daily cross; you suffered constant rejection. But not any more. People are hungry and waiting for your message. You will be welcomed and the name of Reverend Moon will be respected. The name Sun Myung Moon has been resurrected. This is the final stage of the dispensation. Therefore, if you can fulfill it successfully, the era of paying indemnity will end and restoration will be consummated.

I always take the initiative. I determine to work with my own hands to save any situation-any community, society, nation or world. You should feel that way too and make the same determination. Do you want me to stay here and see what great things you are doing? Must I watch over you, or can I leave without any problem? Our international church leaders always come to me and beg for my help. But that era is over. You are now on your own two feet. You leaders must feel you can do it. Do you follow? Do you want to help me? How much? It is easy to say yes, but the deeds are difficult.

Please pledge to be responsible for 360 homes, for your community. Please make a resolution with your hearts to mobilize totally for this final march toward the land of Canaan.

Those who say, "Yes, Father, we want, to mobilize for this march into Canaan," stand up, please. Now we have stood up.

Those who say, "Father, we are absolutely sure that we can do it," raise your hands. Thank you.

The day was spent in a spirit of celebration, with group and individual singing, relaxing, sharing lunch on the lawn, reflection, prayer, and preparing to receive Father, who arrived in the late afternoon. Father's speech was light, uplifting, and victorious in tone:

To fulfill the dispensational will of God I have walked the path of restoration through indemnity step by step. But there had to be a moment of ultimate victory, a grand finale for God's whole dispensation for the United States.

Within the communist world is a group that really hates communism -- the children of the communist bosses. They know the failure of communism, which their parents have been following. Those of the second generation of the communist world will come to a moment when they will have no other way to turn except to the True Parents. There will be no other direction to take. Godism, which is neither democracy nor communism nor secular humanism, is the wave of the future.

On The Threshold of a Gigantic Lift-Off

Central Americans, South Americans, Africans, and Asians are all saying the same thing: Rev. Moon, please save our country! So what should I do? It's as if there were one rice cake and hundreds of people asking for a piece of it. I cannot let anybody down, so I guess I have to go away and hide! But God is thinking differently. He is beaming from ear to ear, saying, "Finally, my day has come! I know my son can take care of everybody, so now I can go and take a nap!" So in that case, I cannot say, "God, I'm running away! You're giving me too much to do! I can't bear it!" If I did that, the whole world would suffer. What can I do then? I will ask God, "You know, Heavenly Father, I have been working tirelessly for forty years to create the fruits of this movement. Those who are the so-called elders of the Unification Church, I must push them down to the ground. When the elder members are pushed like that, what about you? What is your position? You may think, "Boy, Father told us that good times are ahead of us, and I've been waiting for that. But now, Father, what are you saying? More indemnity?" I did tell you that good times were coming; what I meant was that there would be a time of no more persecution. That does not mean you are going to be idle. I never promised that. The time has come for you Moonies to have pride in yourselves.

I feel that my worldwide indemnity path is over and God knows it. So I am sure that God is ready to give Rev. Moon a vacation. Not only that, but He wants to give me a bonus ticket to go anywhere and have anything I want. But then I would have to say to God, "I have a problem. I can't take a vacation. Look at my children, the Moonies; they all want to come with me, wherever I go!" Isn't that true? An infant needs his bottle and a diaper change and always wants to go with his mommy and daddy wherever they go. But you are all grown up now -- you don't need a bottle or a diaper. So if you try to come with me, I will push you away, saying, "Are you trying to follow me around and make me suffer more? Don't you know I have already suffered enough?" Well, that day is now.

The Unification Church has come to a critical moment because we are on the threshold of a gigantic liftoff. If we make the wrong judgment here, we will crash. Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in the United States, correct? In order to have such a tall mountain, there has to be a foundation beneath it which is at least as vast.

I Want You Too To Be Vindicated

You Moonies say, "Rev. Moon always sends us out to fundraise and witness!' But it is precisely because you did those things that such a phenomenon is occurring today. Aren't you proud of what you are? After all my persecution, I have no bitterness. Now I want you too to be vindicated, and to be in the position to forgive others. I would like to proudly present you to the world as Rev. Moon's "product" or fruit. While you were resting, I knew that if I didn't do certain things this nation would go down the drain. I could not expect somebody else to do it; I had to do it myself. So I poured out my energy, and likewise tens of thou- sands of our members elsewhere made incredible sacrifices.

At the God and Freedom Banquet last night there were about forty people at the head table -- scholars, politicians, ministers, and many other types of people. Most of them I had just met for the first time, but they felt they had known me for ten years. That's because they knew what I had been doing in many different fields. Do you think I can actually run away and hide some- where? With only one person bearing this burden, it is a huge one. But there is one simple solution. If we chop the burden into pieces and each one of you picks up one piece, we can do it, right? Are you thinking, "Father, let me have the smallest piece!" or are you saying, "Give me the biggest piece"?

It is a pleasure to stand back and watch you fulfill the frontline work; then I can be in a sort of retired position. I am in vacation attire today. (Father takes off one of his socks.) If taking off my socks were the way to save the world, it would be easy to accomplish. If I could save the world by giving this sermon in my swimming trunks, I would do it.

I have earned my inheritance over the past forty years. There are now less than three-and-a-half years left until 1988. In this short time, I would like to be able to bestow this inheritance upon you. On the universal scale, we are entering into the Land of Canaan. Therefore, this is the crucial time. We must not look back to the time of Egypt but establish and look forward to our new tradition of Canaan. This shall be done by 1988.

We Will Win The Victory In Family Units

The foundation of the family, the heavenly four position foundation, must be firmly established in the Land of Canaan because two strands alone are not sufficient to make a strong rope. You need at least three strands; then multitudes can be added and the rope will become stronger each time you twist it. When this rope of the heavenly four position foundation is turning, you can put anything into it and it can be digested; societies, nations, and races can all be melted together through the family. So far, we have been living in the era of the mobilization of the individual. But upon my return from Danbury the time has come to mobilize the family. Many of you have said negative things about the idea of mobilizing the entire family -- but you will see the incredible results in a few years. Once we win the victory of Canaan as family units, then the international settlement will truly come. We will be able to turn this world into a heavenly world.

The time has come. It used to be that witnessing was your daily cross -- you experienced constant rejection. But not anymore. People are hungry and waiting for your message. From now on you will be welcomed. The name of Sun Myung Moon has been resurrected. This is the final stage of the dispensation; therefore, if you can fulfill it successfully, there will no longer be a history of paying indemnity. Restoration will be consummated.

I always take the initiative. I think, "I will use my own hands to work and save this situation -- this community, society, nation, and world!" You should feel the same and make the same determination. You are now on your own two feet.

Shall we make a resolution within our hearts that we are going to be mobilizing totally for this final march toward the Land of Canaan? Those who say, "Yes, Father, we want to mobilize in this march toward Canaan," stand up, please. Now we have stood up. Those who say, "Father, we are absolutely sure we can do it," raise your hands. Thank you.

After he spoke, Father sat down next to Mother and listened humbly and intently to several hours of glowing reports by leaders on the success of the God and Freedom Banquet in Washington DC.

Dr. Bo Hi Pak read surprisingly positive excerpts from newspaper articles on the banquet, displayed the magnificent trophy and the Indian drum that Father received there, and brought out a huge poster of Father as "Moonbo" carrying the missile of true love. [see photo above]

Rev. Tom McDevitt, Rev. Chong Young Ryu, Rev. Michael Beard, Rev. Ken Sudo, Rev. Patrick Hickey, and Rev. Matthew Morrison each gave moving testimonies of the ministers' embracing response to Father at the banquet. They spoke of their own gratitude to True Parents and to each other for the victory of this event, and shared their excitement about the future of Christianity's commitment to Father's goals.

Father Was Imprisoned and Released In Our Home Church Area

Two sisters tell of their home church foundation in Prospect Heights in Brooklyn, New York, where Father stayed for 47 days in a halfway house.

Esther: About one year ago, Rev. Won Pil Kim asked my husband, Yoshi Tanahashi, to set a pattern in Brooklyn for home church work and to lay a home church foundation for our future family. So I came back to New York from Baltimore to work with Yoshi.

He had already chosen an area. One night we counted out 360 homes each, as Rev. Kim had suggested. But time went by and I did not visit the homes. I just did not feel right about it, and something inside of me told me to wan a little more.

But we did start contacting ministers. Every morning Yoshi and I left the World Mission Center in a very small old car, carting a big TV set and a video cassette recorder with us. The weather was very hot and we had to work hard to find the ministers. If they were not in their churches we asked the kids in the street or knocked on doors to find out how to reach them. We often prayed in the car or stopped in the park and sang holy songs.

One day we stopped in a small park and prayed that Heung Jin Nim would help us in our work. That night we decided to go to a church that was not in our designated area, but it was closed. We asked some people where the pastor lived, but they did not know. Instead of going back to the car, through spiritual guidance my feet carried me around the corner right to the bell of the pastor's house.

This pastor, Rev. John,^* was filled with energy. He explained to us that he himself had been jailed for preaching in the street without a license, and that the IRS had taken the money he had saved up for his children's schooling. When he saw our video "Assault on Religion" he became very enthusiastic about our work and asked us to come and show this video to his entire congregation.

Two blocks down another church also opened its doors to us. The woman minister there let us show "Assault on Religion" to her congregation. One Sunday Yoshi spoke in front of the congregation and expressed how concerned God is about His children, how He wants them to fill their church by reaching out to the community.

After the service a woman named Mrs. Chestnut asked us to come to her home to show the video to her and her friend. When we came she was waiting for us at the gate. Both Mrs. Chestnut and her friend were visibly moved watching the film. Several times the phone rang, but Mrs. Chestnut would not answer it. She said, "This is more important. I do not want to miss anything': She was eager to see all the videos we had.

This was the beginning of a deep friendship with this truly Christian lady. Later she shared that she had had a vision 15 years previously about communism infiltrating America, but she had not told anyone about it before. After working for some time in the area near her church, Yoshi and I both clearly felt that we should move our home church area to the neighborhood where Mrs. Chestnut lived.

My spiritual daughter Teija finished a 21-day workshop just two days after Father went to jail, and she came to work with us. We began contacting people in our new home church area in addition to visiting ministers.

Teija: I remember driving around in our tiny car from church to church. It was difficult because the engine would die at every stoplight. Soon we figured a way to drive it so that wouldn't happen. We worked hard to reach all the ministers and distribute the Principle tapes.

Esther and I started out together by sweeping the streets in our area every morning, and there was a lot to sweep! The streets were filthy and full of garbage. When we started, the people took notice of us and thought we were doing something very good. I guess they also felt they should be doing something, because soon we saw people cleaning up in front of their own houses.

Esther: We began from the lowest level by cleaning the streets; but unlike any other time I had done home church, we were also starting from the top: with the churches. Established churches had always been rather a hindrance to us in the past, but now they were becoming more and more supportive. I had greater confidence to speak to the ministers when I was actually doing work in the community myself. It also inspired people in the area to see that we were trusted by the ministers.

Teija: One of the first women in the area who requested our help was in her forties and single. She had back problems and was always melancholy. She had many things for us to do, one thing after another, and we'd try to keep up with her requests. Esther told me that Father once said you will always find somebody in your area who wants you to do everything in the house. If you can do it, great blessings will come. A few months ago this woman suddenly got married for the first time in her life, and the couple bought themselves a puppy. The spirit in her house became much brighter after that.

Mrs. Chestnut was the best contact in our area, and she came to the Washington Religious Freedom Pageant in July 1984. She was a traditional, Pentecostal Christian and quite spiritual. When we told her we were Moonies she did not say much. Later she told us that one night she had a vision of Jesus, who told her that he had sent Yoshi and Esther to her and that she should help them by going to churches to talk about religious freedom and unity. Because of such spiritual experiences, she began to trust us.

We started showing Mrs. Chestnut the Principle tapes. Of course certain points were very difficult to convey to her. When most people watch the tapes they still keep thinking that Jesus will come down on a cloud and a trumpet will sound! Nonetheless, Mrs. Chestnut understood certain parts of the Principle; she could understand the fall very well. We could see a spiritual change taking place within her. Our conversations grew deeper and so did our friendship.

When we first met Mrs. Chestnut, she found out she had breast cancer. The day she went to the hospital for an operation Esther, Yoshi, and I went there to pray for her.

In the fall we started helping Rev. John in his soup kitchen for the poor. At first the black ladies wondered what two young white girls were doing there, but it did not take long before they accepted us. In fact, they would always ask for us if we didn't come. The bums from the area would come there to eat lunch -- it smelled bad down in that basement! The ladies were irritated by the bums, even though they did not make much trouble. We could sense that the ladies themselves had some kind of resentment and were overworked. So Esther would always massage their necks and shoulders and then they would feel more relaxed.

Rev. John had been the first minister to respond to the cause of religious freedom, since he had experienced injustice at the hands of the government. He had suffered in the past during the civil rights movement, and he would often bring up his inner resentment against white people, although he liked us very much.

Eventually Rev. John came to a CAUSA conference in Manhattan. I remember how he and the other ministers were so inspired after the conference; they sang in the van all the way back home. We all felt very close to each other then.

But later on we were disappointed to find out that some of the ministers' inspirations had backfired, and they started doubting many things. Rev. John argued about the impossibility of unity among the different churches and religions. He didn't think that communism was such a bad problem after all. Soon he tried to convert us. If we wanted to say some- thing he wouldn't even listen to us.

Rev. John still likes us and welcomes us when we visit his church, but there is a barrier he cannot overcome. Once Esther had a dream where she saw us moving to another minister, Rev. Benjamin, while Rev. John passed by. It clearly indicated that since Rev. John did not respond so much anymore, God had to give the blessing to someone else.

Before leaving the halfway house, Father and Mother pose with the Nigerian man and the Oriental man God had prepared to protect Father.

Esther: Rev. Benjamin, who lives on the same street, always seemed to be too busy before, but when we gave him the Principle tapes, he asked to borrow a video cassette recorder, which we brought him. The tapes inspired him a great deal, and he wanted to see more. Soon he came to one of our breakfast meetings and there was moved to tears. Finally he decided to go to one of our International Conferences for Clergy. After this he became closer to us, his views broadened, and his hopes revived. The day that Father came out of prison to go to the halfway house, he called me up and said, "Why didn't you call me? Rev. Moon is out of jail today! You see, we prayed for him to come out earlier, and he did! The Lord answers our prayers!"

Teija: Many times we experienced in our area that people who were first inspired by us later turned out to be unresponsive, while the people who did not seem so good at first would respond later in a positive way.

After Christmas I got a big shock. I found out that Yoshi -- only 30 years old -- had cancer. He told me that he had been praying on the beach to find some people in our home church area who could truly understand Father, even if it meant he had to pay indemnity. Later the same day, he found out from his doctor that he had cancer, but he did not get upset: He thought this was the answer to his prayer. He went to Japan for treatment, was operated on, and recovered very well. He is still there waiting for final test results. Yoshi's attitude is amazing; His mind is not focused on himself but on God's will and home church.

Yet while Yoshi got better and better, Mrs. Chestnut seemed to get worse and worse. She stopped her treatments because they did not do her any good. She deteriorated very quickly and was finally brought to the hospital. Esther and I visited her there and I could see that she did not have much time left on earth. We prayed for her in True Parents' name, and she seemed to respond to the prayer. A nurse helped us put a lemon-dipped swab in her mouth to ease the dryness.

Mrs. Chestnut died a few days later -- only 45 years old. When I found out I seemed to lose all my strength. I just went to bed and cried for many hours. When I was in a state of half sleep a spirit came to me and bent open my mouth several times and stuck something into my mouth. I knew it had to be Mrs. Chestnut, since we had done exactly the same thing to her in the hospital with the lemon-dipped swab. I asked her if it was she and she answered yes by pressing all her spirit onto my head. She confirmed that she was in Paradise, that she had met Jesus, and that she did not want to come back anymore. I asked her if she now knew who Father was, but then I got interrupted and her spirit went away. I guess it was too early to ask her about that. After that my pain was relieved and I cried no more for her. When Esther and I went to her funeral we felt peace inside. She had made a great sacrifice for our home church victory.

After Mrs. Chestnut died, tragedy after tragedy seemed to come upon our contacts. People died of cancer, in accidents, or of old age. We had become close to Rev. Simon and Rev. Mildred of the A.M.E. Church. Rev. Simon's eldest son, 15 years old, got in a car accident and died. Not long after that Rev. Mildred had a heart attack and was in the hospital for a few days. But when she got out of the hospital she came to a God and Freedom meeting in Manhattan.

However, the next morning Rev. Mildred had another heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. We went to see her but she did not talk about her health, only that she wanted to get out of the hospital to start working again. She would always ask about Father. She is worried about Father going off to Korea soon; she hopes to get a husband from him before he goes!

Esther: The day before Father was released from Danbury, we heard that Father would go to a halfway house in Brooklyn. Even though I saw it written in the newspaper I couldn't believe it: Father was going to stay at Phoenix House in our own home church area!

On the day of his final release, Father and Mother sit on Father's bed at Phoenix House in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Here Father had spent 47 days after his incarceration at Danbury.

Teija: It was a big surprise to all of us that Father was coming to Phoenix House but it was not just a coincidence. I have always felt Rev. Kim's deep prayers for us and his deep understanding about Father and God's will. Yoshi's sacrifice and Esther's dedicated work have made our successes possible. No matter what problem Esther faces, she always goes on with a smiling face without wanting any recognition for her work.

Esther: If our area had been more completely restored, the people would have been eager to greet Father when he left Phoenix House every morning, but they are not that far along yet. I am deeply sorry for that. But at least some small foundation is there. I felt much more responsibility during this time to protect Father, and while he was there we asked our best contacts to pray for him.

Although it was a blessing that Father was staying in our neighborhood, it was also a judgment time for us. We had to repent for all the things we did not do and commit ourselves even more to bringing about a victory for Heavenly Father.

On July 5 Teija walked a long way from her fundraising spot to Phoenix House to see if she could get a glimpse of Father. A kind security guard gave her some notepaper. She wrote, "This is the home church area of my spiritual mother," and she left the note and a rose with the guard to give to Father.

A few days later while Teija and I were going to visit a home across from Phoenix House, a car pulled up in front of Phoenix House, and Dr. Bo Hi Pak went inside. Half an hour later he came out again, just as we were coming out of the house we were visiting. Father's security guards knew us already, and Dr. Pak recognized us too, and he waved warmly. Just then I saw a young man with a camera peering at Phoenix House. He did not look like a reporter, but when I asked him, he said he was a reporter with the French newspaper Le Matin. As I speak French, I spoke with him in his native language, which surprised him. He said he was proud to have gotten a picture of Rev. Moon right there, but I told him it was not Rev. Moon he had photographed. He asked how I knew it was not Rev. Moon; so I told him that we were his disciples! He was even more surprised and took a photo of us.

On July 17, as I was on my way to a morning prayer meeting just one block away from Phoenix House, I looked and saw a car stopping there. I ran quickly over, feeling that Father must be getting ready to go out for the day. After a short while he did come out, and just as I was going to wave at his car, I could not see it anymore. Father moves so quickly, like a wind. Suddenly gone and out of sight!

People in the area were aware of our Father's being there. One morning a woman looked at me intensely while I was walking down a street. We had already passed each other when suddenly she turned around and quickly caught up to me. She said, "Now I know! You are working for this Moon! I saw your friend selling roses the other day. She looked so spaced out; I really think he is doing something to your brain!" I let her speak for a while and get it all out. Then I said, "Yes, I understand how you feel. If I were in your situation, I would probably feel the same way." That calmed her down, and then I asked her if she could listen to what I thought and felt. She agreed to, so I told her why I was doing this work and all about our Father's motivation and concern. Her attitude changed and our talk became quite deep. At the end she shared some peanuts with me and we left with a good feeling between us.

Teija: You will find many different characters in your home church area. It is never-ending! It might be difficult at times and you might feel stuck, but I can truly say that doing home church has more lasting value than anything else. Even if I just pull up weeds in somebody's garden, I can sense it has eternal value. This is the way we can restore the world! Everybody should be doing home church. It will take a lot of effort and investment at first, but later on so much blessing will come to us through the people there. They are the ones who will make our life much more like our True Father's has been.
