Day of All Things and Ownership

Through history, religious understanding has expanded and developed until now there are four major religious groups. Powerful countries also exist, such as the United States, Russia, China, and Japan, which should harmonize with the four great religious blocks. The question facing mankind now is: What guidance and direction will enable these large countries and major religious groups to interact harmoniously? God has helped guide history to this point, and if God exists, this question will be just as much a problem to Him as to the rest of mankind.

History has now come to this point. Leaders in those large countries are working very hard to discover how to relate with each other and which direction to take. Some group has to rise up to provide guidance. How do we recognize them? Such a group would be stirring up a lot of controversy; it would be so big and influential that people could not dismiss it without notice. Large countries, like the Soviet Union and America, and other religious groups may feel threatened and afraid and say, "Oh, that group has become too influential, too powerful. We should not let them grow further." At best, however, they should feel, "If there is a group with such influence, we simply cannot ignore or continue opposing them. We should pay great attention and be seriously concerned because this group might be of positive influence to history."

What is that group that is religious and so good and so influential that people might be afraid? [The Unification Church!] The Unification Church is a strange and unique group. This is one group that professors around the world seem to like, and may even fall it I love with. Not only that, other religious leaders, especially those who have been seriously seeking God's will, instantly come to like the Unification Church. Many politicians and statesman also fall in love with the Unification Church, knowing that this is one church that is different from the past and seems to have solutions.

More and more, if a country or a big organization has a serious problem that they have not been able to solve, they do not consult their own consulting firm or group, but may instead come to Rev. Moon, to the Unification Church, and say, "We have this problem. What shall we do?" They know that we will provide them with some very useful advice.

New Historical Trend

A couple of days ago, a major political leader came to me and said, "Rev. Moon, you have made a much- needed ideological revolution in the United States." The leaders of some countries are recognizing that wherever I reach, good is being done. Our members are working continuously to be effective and bring constructive results.

Religious leaders have been denouncing me, but as time goes on, they see that actually I can provide a solution. "Without him, all of our religious groups must decline, so before that happens, we must come and learn from him." This is the trend now.

For example, in Japan, the chairman of the largest religious group -- with four million members -- is getting very old. He is about to die, but he gathered all of his congregation and said, "Mr. Kuboki, who used to be our member, went to the Unification Church. We denounced that, but now we see it was very necessary. So please embrace Mr. Kuboki. Do not treat him as an enemy but as a friend." Why did he leave that request? Usually when people are opposed and persecuted, they retaliate or they at least express some complaints, but we did not. The more they persecuted us, the more I tried to embrace them and do good for them, pray for them. Finally they saw that, after all, the Unification Church is not a bad entity and Rev. Moon is not a bad person, but an incredibly good person. So they turned around.

It is an iron law that if someone opposes another in every way he can, but still does not overcome him, then he will be overcome by the person who is persecuted. If you embrace and embrace, eventually the other will surrender to you.

Victorious Danbury Testimony

One lawyer visited Danbury after I left. He asked the prisoners, "What did Rev. Moon do during his stay in Danbury?" They told him that while I was there people thought more about good actions and attitudes. Everyone respected me. But when I left, immediately the atmosphere changed. There was fighting everywhere.

Many prisoners complained to me about our government. But I said, "Complaining is not the religious way or the way of a real man." Sometimes at lunchtime, the prisoners would come to talk to me, one by one, and share about their life, asking me to keep it secret. They wanted to confess the painful things in their minds and hearts, and knew I would not use it against them. I always kept a constant attitude, an unchanging heart. Now, when those who were in jail with me get out and meet someone who is against us, they say, "I lived with Rev. Moon more than one year. He is a righteous man. I haven't found his kind of noble thinking and acting in any other person in the United States." They testify for me more than you do.

They call Mr. Kamiyama: "I want to meet Rev. Moon; I miss him so much." So even the Danbury people know about what I did in prison better than you. Shouldn't you do better than they in understanding me? We should do more for the sake of America than the Danbury people. Bill Shepherd said that all the inmates there had been waiting for Rev. Moon to find out whether I was really bad. If I was, Bill was determined to persecute me. It's so easy within prison to hurt another person, and even kill nim. But Bill found out the American government was wrong; he changed his mind completely and became my disciple.

Many of the men I found in prison were courageous, intelligent people. I felt that if the American government would entrust all the correction facilities to me, through education I could make a formidable group out of these people. It is not money which can solve problems, only proper education.

Here in this country and in the world, many whites don't like blacks, and many blacks don't like whites. The Spanish people don't necessarily like blacks nor whites and vice versa. But what about the Unification Church? Is there anybody we don't like? When you join the Unification Church, all of your sense of skin color fades away. Thus the problem of racial prejudice is completely solved. Isn't that true? If you can overcome any obstacle, then unification is no problem. It's revolutionary that all people -- white, black, yellow -- who did not like me many years ago, are now coming to like me. This is not a simple happening. I could have retaliated against the people who persecuted me, but I didn't simply because it is not me; our teaching is quite different.

Unification of Races and Religions

For many years, America, Germany, and Japan have been opposing me, but gradually they are changing. Nobody did anything to make that happen except that I constantly and steadfastly loved them. Now they say, "Maybe we need Rev. Moon. We definitely want Rev. Moon to help us." Though these countries are always changing, I have been consistently pursuing the path of eternal goodness, so gradually they are coming to understand and like me.

In the media world, people are also understanding more about me than ever before. Scholars are following me and what I stand for. Now if I want to see any important person, he will come. If I say, "I would like to meet you," that person says, "Yes, I would like to meet you, too." The situation and environment have changed that much.'

Look at all of you here. You have many different backgrounds: Jewish, Catholic, Presbyterian, Muslim, and so forth, yet you all say, "Yeeeees, I like Rev. Moon." People might say, "Oh, the Unification Church must be the place where people who change their religion all go." Will you change again, or will you never change from this point on? What can enable you to say you will never change from this point on?

Father and children are related by blood lineage. It takes a complete change of blood lineage before we can say, "I am your son and you are my father." You have to go through a lot before you can seriously and sincerely say that. Can you confidently say you have that kind of deepest relationship with me through your blood lineage? I don't know, so how can you know it? I am the teacher; I who am in the father's place don't know that. How can you know? How can we be sure about this serious point? Making the sound "yes" is easy but actually doing it not so easy.

This is the 27th Day of All Things. All things are now coming to me because I have the route to God. All things will find the way to restore their ownership to God. Now God can begin to own things as He should. All things know that they are automatically connected to me -- how much greater they are than you!

If white people, black people, all the rest of the people of different countries like Rev. Moon, then what about all the things of these countries? If things happened to have a higher intelligence than human beings, and all men are loving and following Rev. Moon, then all things would push to be the first to follow him -- even before man.

Restoring God's Ownership

Now all things are silently demonstrating, asking to return to the original owner. All things have protested to God: "Why did You create us and make us suffer as the slaves of unrighteous owners?" Historically so many people exploited all things, using them to do evil, which they did not want to do. All things will continue to protest to God until this situation is rectified. Only one person in this tremendous universe understands what has been going on between all things and mankind. Now all things are hailing me, thankful that I understood their situation and included the Day of All Things as equal in importance to God's Day, Parents' Day, and Children's Day. All things will say thank you to Unification Church members for understanding them and treating them correctly.

Other people make money and build up a bank account; they focus on the future of their children, retirement, and so on, but I am always spending for the sake of the world. I never have any penny in my pocket for me -- all is dedicated to God's ownership, all money and property. So obviously all things and money like and follow me, although I am not trying to make money. Though I don't want to be rich, all things want to be mine because I help them fulfill their purpose. Money knows its purpose and power is for saving humanity, for serving God. Money follows me better than the Unification Church members do!

All things want to belong to God. From the fallen world all things are going back to God. You have to know that. It is no use to talk to a cloud or stream and say, "Don't move in that direction. I want you to flow in the other direction." Both move according to natural law. So also we cannot say, "Money, flow in my direction," because the money will flow where it is supposed to, to where it will be spent with more effectiveness for the sake of others. Money prefers to be spent in that way, not in a selfish way. Money, like water, knows where to flow.

All things that are being foolishly used will return back to God so He can use them to save mankind and even Himself. The desire of all things is to be released from the archangel's hand and be returned through Eve's hand to Adam, to Parents, and God. If Adam and Eve had matured to embody true love, then all things would come to be owned by them. To be restored, things must go the reverse way. Until now America (the archangel nation) has been leading the financial world. Now Japan is assuming greater leadership and after that, Korea will rise up.

Why is America the archangelic country? I selected it because after World War II, America was about to be washed away down the drain. That is why I am doing so much to help this country to accomplish its mission and connect with Japan and Korea properly. Forty years ago, I selected Japan to be the Eve country. To bless many America men with Japanese women is opposite to Satan's taking Eve in the beginning. Satan sees this and chokes, almost dying.

All things will eventually return to God's ownership and be owned by those whom God loves. All things want to go the way that fulfills their eternal purpose.

Foundation of Heaven and Earth

Satan took ownership of this world, but our mission now is to cultivate new ownership for God. Upon God's ownership can come ownership for the church, the family, and each individual. God is the rightful owner of the universe, but He lost everything. We have to claim everything back for God.

Until now, we needed to be ashamed of owning something when we were not eligible or qualified to own anything. Do you own something? Do you have something in your possession? What do you have? You have a father and mother and brothers and sisters and your country. But your world and your heaven you do not have yet. We only start owning on the foundation representing heaven and earth -- not until then.

Why do you use money? For saving humanity, for serving God? Those who need money, raise your hands. One thing I know: No Unification Church member will go without food. No matter where you go you will never starve because you know how to fundraise.

You have learned how to overcome limitations of time and money. With this power you can do even more than I have. Go out and stir up good controversy. You can become God's famous true child, winning His pride forever. How wonderful your future time can be!

Compare the Korean political situation with that of the United States. Which is more serious? In this time the most serious problems financially and politically are in Korea. Korea is going the way to make the formula to solve the world's problems. Only by following me is there a solution -- to make God's world with love.

I have disregarded my own country in order to work to save America. Korea cannot save all the world, but America is a world leader, so I worked to save America first. Then am I the only person who has to do this work? What about you? You have a much more advantageous position to work for America than I. You have the same language, culture, and lifestyle. In the future you have to go to Korea and teach true ownership. Of course from there everything will spread out to all four corners of the world. The Korean language will be spoken everywhere. In the ideal world, there will be a unified culture and a common language.

Having so many different languages is a result of the fall -- a way Satan has divided and confused us. Only religious power centering on God's love can end the confusion and unite everyone. Compared with how difficult it was for me to learn English, it should be no problem for you to learn Korean. I am nearly 70 years old and a grandpa, but still I learned English. Why? In order to help my Western world children better connect spiritually with my words. But I actually don't feel good speaking English because I cannot express what I feel. Now I have proclaimed that after 1990 I will not use an interpreter. I dislike interpreters.

Sometimes I think I must be a bad leader because you only half follow. This life is difficult -- nobody likes a severe situation. I'm sorry. But think about me. Who has really helped me? I learned how to fulfill every responsibility, no matter how difficult. Being willing to endure a severe situation is good. Many times I met with members till midnight, and then after that is my study time. Last night I slept two and a half hours. How could I stand this lifestyle for more than 40 years? With spiritual power -- not flesh power!

Resources for the World

I have proclaimed the equalization of technology. Until now, the so-called advanced nations have been exploiting the advancing countries by selling them technology for high prices. But I have said, "I will not charge anything. I will give the technology to everybody else, free." All the people in the world see that my dealing with technology is the most righteous. I am now in the process of providing the highest level of technology to advancing countries.

The Chinese people saw how I was treated here in America and how I never became angry or revengeful. Instead I kept on loving and acting for the sake of America. They know who I am. That is why the Chinese are now saying, "America we cannot trust, but Rev. Moon we can trust." China is bound to modernize, no question about it. If China did it by herself without my help, perhaps it would take 50 years to achieve a certain level. With my help they can achieve this level within 20 years, saving 30 great, valuable years.

During all these years no one understood why our members worked so hard, visiting every town, city, state, and remote countryside, working in every corner of America. I have been spending to help save humanity. God expected me to make an effective foundation so that the United States can fulfill its historical destiny -- to serve the world.

All things knew that the members who were fundraising should go to middle and lower income people who are relatively more free of Satan than are the rich. Sure enough, all of our members experienced that without exception when they went to low income people, they gave. So all things have been realizing that when this trend goes up from low income to middle income, now upper income people will start giving, and surely the Last Days are very near. Our fundraising was part of the preparation for the future. Now one Unification Church member can be more effective in helping to save America than ten people who have not had such experience.

Raise your hands. Who should be the owner of those hands? They should be True Parents' hands, and God's hands, returning back to God. With God in the center, on the right is the Parents' place and on the left is the children's place, connecting horizontally and vertically with love. My hand connects with my Parents' hands, which connect with God's hand, and then again to Parents' hands and my hand.

Think of your hand, "This is not my hand; it is my Parents' hand, God's hand." Until now, how much was your hand used for evil purposes? How about your mouth? How bad has your ownership of your body been? In the future, only a real man after restoration deserves ownership. We lost God, True Parents, True Family, True Children. Now we must restore ownership and go the most loving and valuable way.

The Bible says that your family can be your fearful enemy. But from now I am sending you out as tribal messiahs to embrace your tribe and take true ownership. From these a new nation can grow. Centering on Korea, all nations will come to follow the way of God and True Parents. Even now we see totalitarian nations heading toward a more democratic way.

In the Soviet Union's hierarchical system, if one high level person united with me, immediately all 270 million people could be educated with the Principle. With its single party system, it is possible to change the Soviet Union in one night. But America is different; everybody goes his individualistic way, so how difficult it is to make one nation.

Safeguard Your Purity

The younger second generation really should take precautions and do not even think about sex. In the Garden of Eden, did Adam and Eve kiss each other? While they were growing, they certainly noticed their physical differences because they were naked. But that was all. They didn't know why. They just wondered, but that was the extent of it. When they kissed, that was a serious action.

We don't understand enough how serious the man and woman relationship is. The place of sex is meant to be holy, but Satan invaded it. The husband's sexual organ is owned by his wife, and the wife's is owned by her husband. God is clever and wise. If something is not yours, you oughtn't misuse it.

Clearly woman was born for man and man for woman. Both are looking all around for the other. The first time one sees the other naked, all kinds of feelings are stirred up. You cannot sleep or stay in one place. In love, neither man nor woman can control himself or herself. You must be so careful not to be too close to anyone except your spouse. You cannot undo a mistake of this kind. This is a very serious point.

Now do we know more about ownership? Everything should be owned by Parents and God through the help of the spirit world, which is the angelic world. We must return everything to God; even we dedicate ourselves to God. My day is not my day at all -- it belongs to God. Just as I have been living all my life for God, so should you live your days for Him. I have always been finding out how to forget that I am tired and go on forever, if necessary, until the mission is fulfilled. Even if everybody else drops away on the left and right, still I know that somebody is going this way without giving up.

At last ownership will be restored to True Parents and God. Without restoring ownership you cannot get into heaven. This is the Divine Principle. "Divine" means it cannot change. No matter how difficult our life is, we have to return to the original ideal. This is the desire of God, True Parents, and all the saints. If you are working to follow True Parents' purpose and way, then you will reach heaven -- no problem. For example, if you want to study, what is your purpose? It should be for God, humanity, and for our tradition centering on True Parents. I spend long hours talking. Why do I talk so long? For God and humanity.

Do you want to liberate all things still owned by unrighteous people and return them to God? If so, please pledge yourselves to be the instruments to do that. You have to memorize this point. No more thinking: "I don't like that; I don't want to do that." You must stop pursuing things which have no value and instead go in a noble direction. Everything, including your blood lineage, must change ownership. Otherwise you cannot be an original ancestor of the ideal way. Those who pledge to do this, raise your hands.

Love Imagination Perspective

There is no proper arrangement for the words of Father's speech this morning. You cannot find this arrangement in the dictionary. But love imagination perspective makes acute sense for our life. It is Unification terminology. As you know the oriental language is symbolic. The characters are actually pictures that explain what they mean. In English, the letters L O V E in themselves do not mean anything. But the character for the word love in Korean has lines and shapes representing heaven, the three stages, a house (meaning embraced by) and mind and other lines representing the original two people. All these concepts come together to make one word, love. This is very revealing. A revelatory character. "Heaven" is written with the sign for two persons. "Righteous" means "sheep like myself". "Goodness" also has a sheep and two people who support each other. Each word itself teaches us something.

You cannot omit even one stroke in the word love and feel that it is right. What about the character for "imagination?" It is a tree. Man resembles a tree more than he resembles grass. A tree always grows to be round. The shape starts out long but altogether has a round effect with the leaves and branches. The history of a tree very much resembles the history of man. It starts from a root, then the trunk starts growing, and then the branches and leaves. Man is the same but inverted. His roots are up in heaven with the leaves reaching to the ground. We do not exist haphazardly, but in a balanced way.

A tree has water and man has blood. Blood and love is what makes us go. Love is an important ingredient of life leading us to bear fruit. We love with the result or the fruit in mind. Synthesis, division and synthesis is the process. Man and woman are brought together with love to bear fruit.

We unite and divide for the sake of love. All functions are for love. Communists take the same way but explain it as unity and antagonism. But antagonized beings can never come together to unite again.

In love we do not make so much noise. All five senses go numb in love. Only love is active in every cell. Unless we can explain human life like this, we cannot explain who we are.

We embrace with our eyes closed. If you don't, you are either a spy or not really in love. That spy can only represent evil existing to hurt their partner. It is a simple explanation, but explanation is half of what human beings are. What about Moonies? Do we keep our eyes open when we think about serious things? No, we meditate with our eyes closed. If you hate someone you keep your eyes open. Antagonism does not bring fruit. A crucial concept is the understanding of unity, division and synthesis. Through it we can explain humanity. The Korean character for "tree" looks like a cross with a man next to it. There are vertical and horizontal lines. The eyes represent three stages meaning we see in three stages or in total. No one knows how these characters were developed. But when Father analyzes them they fit completely. If you draw two big persons and two small persons, it looks like a family. Next to the tree are lots of eyes. These characters combined together mean "imagination".

"Thought" the Korean character is two words. Vertical and horizontal lines together. This shows a mind that can reach all four directions. Other languages based only on phonetics cannot compare with this. Compare the characteristics of oriental and western minds. Westerners are concrete. They want to take everything apart. Orientals are deep in thought, embracing and more round.

If you meet three different westerners you can predict exactly what they will be like. They are all very similar. In the orient people are all different. Westerners are simple and easy to fathom, but not Orientals.

Now the west is coming to search for the east, but not so much the other way around. The Orientals already know what they can gain from the west. White people represent the north pole and blacks represent the south pole. For whites to reach the warm climate they must embrace the other extreme. The twentieth century is a warm climate civilization. England and Asia are in moderate climate zones. Without embracing blacks whites cannot stay in the warm climate. Even the sun moves, it does not stay in just one place.

The law of the universe is that there are four season. It does not matter if you like them or not, they still come. God likes them that way.

Western civilization is in an "exhaling" time in history. Next is the "inhaling" time, the time of embracing. Exhaling means giving everything away. We have exhaled everything and are now in a deadlock. There is nothing left. Which way should we go? Next the inhaling time comes to draw all back in. So western people should not refuse to go the other way now. If white people say "I do not like Koreans, Reverend Moon or black people, they cannot continue. The wise man will want to quickly inhale as much as possible. Moonies are like that.

Father is showing us that now is the time to inhale. Whether white people like it or not history goes on. We cannot stop it. Reverend Moon's direction is that we have to show this and help others to become healthy and prosperous. Those who follow Reverend Moon always find hope and feel good. Don't you? Using reason, who can deny this? This kind of phenomenon is now happening world wide. It is fun to be here with Father. Whether you are awake or asleep, struggling or not it is still fun. A small grasping American hand cannot grab Father. It takes a big net and would be like catching the whole world. We cannot embrace just what we like. We have to embrace everything. With eyes of love we can see that everything is so precious. We do not want to miss even one hair on a person's head!

The Israelites were chosen by God. Americans are the second Israelites. America is the country which should sacrifice. Americans do sacrifice but only in one direction. Now all three other directions are coming against America, saying "We don't like you!" People may come against you and kick you, but those who kick Moonies will go down. All people have kicked Father from behind, so he had to advance! People opposing us cannot move forward, so we have to kick them forward.

There is no place that Father was not kicked. There is no place they did not attack him. All bullets and arrows have been aimed at Reverend Moon. He has scars everywhere, but still no arrow could penetrate. Father feels like he is an entity on display in a museum entitled "The Most Attacked Human Being". He endured that for the sake of God in order to represent God and His ideal and to create a God loving world.

God cannot stay away from that museum. He wants to go and visit this man. All spirit world follows God's way, so they too are concerned about Reverend Moon. Following spirit world, all humanity will come as well. It makes sense right? All the world will then be paying attention to Father because all of spirit world is.

The rebirth of the ideal America will begin when it is announced that America should die for the sake of the world. Americans do not like that. But unless it is undertaken, they will perish by universal natural power. If we are rich and well established we should next humble ourselves. The greater we grow the more humble we should become. When our family is great we have to love others more. Now when people become great they want to love only their family, this is bad. They have to embrace all humanity, all the cosmos and all nature. Then they can be welcomed.

The universe has eyes and ears and they are very sensitive. It will welcome you. These are not just Reverend Moon's words. The universe protects the righteous man forever.

Father has already taken a long time to speak, but who is counting time? Mother is! For our sake she tells Father not to speak too long. But in love, the longer it takes the better! You do not care. So as long as Mother watches the clock with love, we love her more.

"Perspective" is the most complicated word you can write in Korean characters. It is very stylish. It has two symbols representing grass, two representing man, with lines representing God on top of them. Then there is an eye, divided into three stages. It is very interesting!

Women use makeup in order to be noticed by others. We feel good if others pay attention to us. When it is with much love and respect we are even happier! But if someone sees you and tried to lead you the wrong way and use you, you do not like them at all.

Many times the word "perspective" is abbreviated in Korean characters. People use a character that means "moon" literally Father's family name. The original mind of man already knew that one day we would look to Moon for the answers! This character literally says "Look at Moon". This is actually history and all humankind's terminal purpose.

Now you know what love imagination perspective is. Father is sweating because it is so hot, but he feels good because everything has been explained.

Now you have enough foundation to fly. Travel by air is no good, you see nothing! Women do not like to travel by boat. But travel by all three, boat, air and train is the best. Great men travel on boats. Ask Mother!

What is the most important element to man? Life. It means man's and woman's life. Which one is most important? [Both.] What is the center if you say both? How can man and woman be the same? They are very different. What base do we use to say they are equally important? Man and woman are supposed to come into unity. Both are born ultimately for the sake of love. After embracing in love they can change places and occupy each others position. But only through love and after love. There is no other explanation. Men were born for the sake of women and love and the reverse is also true.

Our parents life started our own. We eventually return to our parents. If the parents love their child equally, then they are the same. The measurement of the angle has to be ninety degrees. No matter how big or how small it is, they must have the same ninety degree angle.

We see the women's movement going on. It makes no sense that they go on without man in mind. They want a woman's power movement so that women can become whatever they want to be. One century from now there may be no more children born! With this kind of thinking they only bring shame to the animal, fish and plant kingdom. There is no value to women's power.

What is the root and origin of the universe? Some say man and some say heaven. Religious people are the ones who say heaven. Secular humanists say man. The democratic world stands in that position now. How does heaven exercise it's function? Just by power and calamity? Imposing it's will on others?

There is no knowledge that heaven does not have, but heaven rules through love. True love can reach north, south, east and west allowing everything to become equal.

Does God exist? What is man? This is the most basic question. What is the relationship between God and man? Love is the center of everything. The origin of life is not life, but love! Only love has the ability to open up our eyes, ears and mouth in the greatest excitement.

Why does God live? Is He just sitting on His absolute throne? Just sitting there forever and never moving? Does God search after diamonds and all kinds of silver and gold? No, He can make those things. God is searching after the true object.

This is the kind of time Father longs for the sea, then the breeze would be blowing and I would not be sweating. Father is so tanned, he is becoming a cousin to black people! Father will start painting his face with black paint when the winter comes. He will visit the white blessed couples in the middle of the night, without calling them first. He will sneak in and wake you and ask for something to eat! Father will check to see what kind of person you have become.

Normal men use their right hand. The universe welcomes right handed people more than those left handed. God is on the right side. Man wants to grasp heaven with the right side. Man is always on the right side. Man needs the right hand to protect the woman who is standing on his left. In the oriental civilization the sense of right and left is very clear.

How do man and God combine or exist together? Do they get together to count money every morning?

"Loving" American couples often fight over their bank accounts. Famous women stars get richer by marrying and divorcing. The worst person is a cheating lover. The universe, heaven, spouse, children and all spirit world will accuse that within a person. If we ever had that kind of thing in the past we have to repent to God, heaven, husband, children and the entire universe.

Ask "God, how would you like to live?" He will answer, "I want to live with all mankind". Is it God's work to distinguish good and bad people and send the bad ones off to prison? Even in the secular world no one wants to be a judge. What is the religious world doing now? They only pray to God to give me blessing. But Unification Church members do not pray like that. Instead they pray, "If the country is going to die please take my husband instead and let the country live." That kind of Moonie will become the center of this country. His children will prosper. His love for the country is 10,000 times more strong than others.

All things want to follow a loving master. That is because God wants to live by love. If we say no to that we separate from God. Even a dog expects his master to love him more than he loves his wife. If they are a loving couple. the dog will sit on the wife's lap and share their love.

Would Mother like Father to talk to American women in a friendly way? Not really, but Father is making a textbook. A textbook is something Father has and uses to teach by. All women want their husbands to use anything necessary to teach other people. Any textbook Father chooses to teach a certain point is okay. We all want to be used as textbook material! Father can touch and give a kiss and for the point of teaching it is okay. Centering on love what can you not do?

If God wants to live for the sake of love, what does He need first? An object. That is the purpose for all creation. With all the different levels of creation--man, plants and animals, you might think God has a very complicated life. But God created each level to live for the sake of the other, with the opposite side, not "me" as the center. All levels work together harmoniously. God does not want to love centered on Himself. God is the love king dwelling here and living for the sake of His love partner. This is the ideal of the equalization of love. It is okay to be a subject or object for the sake of love. Ultimately we should embrace the whole world like a radio station broadcasting love. This is what God had in mind. That each created being lives for the sake of each other expanding love. God is the king of wisdom. He knew this from the beginning. We must go the center way. We have to reach the origin.

Why am I born? We are born with love imagination perspective. I represent life and parents centering on true love. Mother represents Father and woman represents man. Do not say your life is not connected to me. God's love connects parents and children.

Our conclusion is that the universe is centered on love. There are three very important points to remember. One is love which is most important, two is life and three is blood. The blood connecting parents and children in one lineage.

We have everything! We have God and we have parents. All humankind has a family of grandparents, parents and children. My family represents all humanity past, present and future. The family has that much value.

[From here Father continued, speaking in English for over two hours. Following are some of the points he mentioned.]

I have everything! God and parents with love at the center. The blood lineage is connecting us. We need to inherit tradition in order to go this precious way. Know always that you represent love, life and blood lineage.

By following we gain resurrection.

Father came to America fifteen years ago and spoke how this country would go down. No one believed him and said "Reverend Moon you do not know what you are talking about. We are mighty and strong. You are only a visitor." But now America is going down, and Reverend Moon is going up. America will go to the bottom and then start back up and then things can equalize.

True love is the short cut way. God should be on top with a vertical love going straight down.

Reverend Moon is completely making a highway. He feels like a lonely man, pushing forward, going through pain and difficulty all alone. But when he turns around there is a mountain of love accumulating. It grows bigger and bigger. Do not think that only Father has to go this way. In our mind we can go too, forsaking our lives to build the best foundation.

Even business people know they have to go the way of investing. It is not a safe or convenient way.

Embrace love, thinking about Father and parents. Satan forcefully occupied the mind of man, but we have to gain it back naturally through love. We want to become a love champion, following the exact footsteps of our parents. Centering on your mind, combine with your spouse and go forward in the parents way.

There are five points needed to restore the world both internally and externally. They are:

1. Ideology

2. Science and technology

3. A centrist political avenue which is capable of uniting both the East Bloc and the "Free" World.

4. Finance

5. Media (which exists for the sake of the world and not for any partisan interests.)

There are two types of knowledge. Internal knowledge, which is knowing God; not merely believing in God, but knowing God, and external knowledge which relates to the true nature of the universe.

I have been working simultaneously in each of these fields towards the goal of ultimately establishing a global information exchange system. I will establish the conditions whereby anyone can obtain information they need at the soonest possible moment. My life has been one of persecution in each of these five fields. Japanese masters of technology opposed me, as did American politicians and German scientists. Wherever there was dominance in any of these five areas was where there was the most opposition, but now things have changed. The only reason why I stayed in the United States as long as I did, was due to my responsibility to become a formidable power in social, financial and media spheres. People who do not understand the will of God automatically assume that I am some kind of dictator.

I am pursuing the equalization of technology throughout the world. Japan, the United States, and the Soviet Union should openly share their technology with the third world without reservation, but they have been unwilling to do so. Therefore I had to gain a substantial foundation in these areas myself, and complete the task of sharing.

If I had to pursue my achievements in these five areas as a man, even as a great man, the entire enterprise would have been hopeless. Each and everything, even down to the smallest detail had to be done by the one, absolute, all powerful God. The key point in every endeavor is knowing God truly. No matter how famous I am, if it were not connected with God and God's will, it would all amount to nothing. Once people truly understand God, everything will be easy. The strongest point of Unificationism is that it teaches God clearly. Whoever studies Unification Thought and understands it, is not under the Unification Church, but under God's will and direction. The life of faith in our church is not based on blind belief, but on logical and scientific correspondence to experimentation and verification.

God is the vertical center. All Unification members believe that God is the vertical center. My job as the horizontal center is to receive instructions and revelations from God and to distribute them to all of humanity. I must unify the vertical truth of the heart which takes place in religions, to horizontal truth which exists in the fields of philosophy and ideology. God and humanity must be united by heart and become one. Then we can see unification. Unificationism is God's vertical ideology. Unification teaching is called "Headwing." It is not left wing or right wing. This is the only way to unite vertical and horizontal.

In order to unite the vertical and horizontal, we need True Love. True Love is the only ideology which we will ever advocate. This will be our message forever. Once human beings know what True Love is, all will have the answer. Because of the power of True Love ideology, the Unification Church could lay this strong foundation in a short time period. If someone were to ask me: "Which would you prefer, being head of the Unification Church or True Love," my answer would certainly be True Love. Even if someone offered me America, or the entire world, my answer would be without hesitation, True Love. Ultimately, everyone on earth must abandon whatever they like most and pursue True Love. That is the final and fundamental answer for building the Kingdom of Heaven. Even if you asked God, "Would You prefer the universe or True Love?" God would simply answer, "True Love." True Love ideology is eternal. It is the only ideology which can unite God and this world together.

In October 1988, I matched 6515 couples in Korea. This is a demonstration of True Love power. Japan and Korea were enemies for centuries, but through the power of true love they married willingly. There was not even any opposition from the respective governments, because they knew that only I am capable of doing this without difficulty. When we feel the value of true love, we can feel the value of family life extending to the nation and the world. You see, I am giving you a tip on how you can solve the problems of the Middle East!

Question: Could you give a brief summary about the history, goals, and activities of CWR?

I have spoken extensively on this question in a previous interview. For the sake of those who may not have access to those back issues, I will offer a brief summary: The CWR is a natural development in the fulfillment of Father's vision for the unification of the world's religions. Father has always invested in projects and avenues leading to the fulfillment of that goal. In Korea, he founded the supra-denominational movement for the unity of Christianity. In the United States, clear evidence of Father's unwavering commitment to that goal can be seen in the manner in which he fashioned the Unification Theological Seminary. The founding faculty had only one Unificationist among professors of all other religions. On this inter-religious foundation the seminary soon became the scene for a flourishing program of interfaith dialogue, which eventually became established as the New Ecumenical Research Association (New ERA). As the inter-religious activities grew beyond mere research, Father created a foundation to embrace and represent another aspect of his vision, the International Religious Foundation. Our elder brother, the International Cultural Foundation, had already been established as a foundation which addressed the matters of external knowledge: science, arts, culture, and so on. Now the International Religious Foundation would stand as the organization which addressed matters of the heart: religion and God. In 1984, in Seoul, at the fourth conference on "God, the Contemporary Discussion", Father founded the Council for the World Religions. This branch of IRF would serve to bring together the religious leaders of the world, and to provide for them a forum through which they could unite and speak to the world as the spiritual shepherds of human endeavor.

Following Father's proclamation of the Council's existence, the first steps towards implementing the ideal were taken. This consisted of organizing an inter-religious board of advisors, representing the major religions of the world. The most important qualification for membership on this first advisory board was that the person be a confessing member of the faith they were chosen to represent. This group then worked hand-in-hand to establish the spirit upon which the council would pursue its goals and ideals. No step is taken without the unanimous consent of all the representatives of the religions present. The concern for religious harmony led the group, under Father's guidance, to pursue the ideal on three fronts concurrently: intrareligious conferences, large inter-religious conferences, and regional inter-religious conferences. Intrareligious conferences address the problems arising from the fact that all religions are divided within. World peace cannot be achieved without establishing peaceful relations between sects and denominations within each of the world's religions. No religion can effectively testify to the power of its teachings if there is hatred and resentment among its members.

The second effort of the CWR concerns the encounter between believers across religions per se. In this area there are two types. The first are large interfaith conferences in which we endeavor to have as many religions as possible present themselves to each other. At these conferences one experiences the infinite variety of God's love and self- revelation to humanity. The second type of interfaith conference is oriented toward geographical areas in which there are two or more different religions living in close proximity, and who have somehow become embroiled (or are perceived to be embroiled) in the social and political conflict that characterizes that area. Examples of this latter kind would include the Middle East, and the Punjab (in northern India).

Question: Can you tell us about your most recent conference in Turkey?

This fourth CWR conference on Islam is an example of the intrareligious program of the CWR. The theme was "Family and Law in Islam." This is an important issue for Muslims because the Prophet Muhammad gave very specific and thorough instructions for family and social life. Today, in the modern world, there are many circumstances in which it is virtually impossible for Muslims to uphold their God-given responsibilities. The Muslim response to this quandary is varied. Some say liberalize and accommodate. Others say become more conservative and close out modernity. The options are complex and indicative of one's broader understanding of Islam itself. Such a conference is designed for Muslims to resolve their differences on these burning issues, or at least learn to love and respect their brothers and sisters who hold differing positions. But it is a long hard road to harmony. Father's unconditional love gives them a good environment to work out their differences. To this extent the unity of Islam is coming about under Father's auspices. Not that Father gathers Muslims together to tell them that Islam is wrong and that they should convert. Rather, he is so united with God's heart, that God's pain over a divided religion affects Father severely and he is driven to sacrifice his own resources to alleviate this suffering. Participants perceive the Unification presence only as quiet, unconditional giving, which is Father's trademark.

This particular conference took place in Istanbul, Turkey, which reflects the final aspect of our conferences which I would like to mention here. We try to hold our conferences at sites that are religiously significant to the participants. In this way their gathering is not only for the sake of conversation and intellectual exchange, but also for the sake of making a pilgrimage. Time is given during every conference to visit holy places, and it is through this that important differences can melt away and yield to the realization of harmony.

Question: Were there special points about this conference in particular?

This conference had an outstanding group of participants, people of great sincerity, and several of high public visibility and religious influence. They were level-headed and spoke well to each other. There were times of great intensity and differences of opinion, but even in the most heated and emotional of times, the moderator was adamant to guarantee that every voice had fair opportunity for expression. The fact that many of the participants were first time guests also marks the conference as successful. Many of them are heads of major Muslim organizations, and offered to cooperate with the CWR at the institutional level. This shows that the Council has now achieved the dignity and stature which attracts people who are willing to go beyond offering personal opinions and affirmation, to the level of offering the cooperation of their institution. This involves trust at a much higher level. Without this level of cooperation, the CWR could not effectively perform the vast and highly-entangled task of bringing about inter-religious harmony and cooperation.

Question: We often encounter negative portrayals of Islam. How can someone with a Judeo-Christian, Buddhist, or other non-Muslim background begin to understand the religion of Islam?

Unificationists, above all, must always retain a clear recollection of how the media can effect public opinion about religious phenomena. The negative treatment of Islam has been largely the result of contemporary geopolitics in which Islamic nations have had relations of enmity with the United States.

On the internal level, the Unificationist should look to his or her own sacred literature, the Divine Principle. It is clearly written there that Father teaches that God founded the world's great religions as His means of guiding his children out of darkness, towards Himself. As a path to God, Islam must be respected. Father instructs us to serve other Christian churches because they have protected His Will throughout Satan-dominated history. God is grateful to Christianity for that, and we serve out of the same gratitude. It should be no different for any of the other world's true religions. We should also serve Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and so on. These religions have protected God's children in all the different cultural spheres throughout history. There exists a similar parallel to our own movement on the external level as well. What is the best way to overcome negative portrayals of the Unification Church? I would say talk to an Unificationist. Ask one to explain the meaning of his or her religion in his or her own life. The same with the Muslims. In order to understand their religion, talk to them. If you do not know any Muslims, the next best thing is to read what they themselves have to say about their religion. The Islamic Teaching Institute puts out a simple, clear and informative brochure on the essentials of Islam. I think members should write and request it.

Question: I would like to know something about the background of Mufti Kuftaro who attended this recent conference. Did you see some parallels between his course and Father's course?

I do believe there are parallels, and at the end of the meeting between Father and the Grand Mufti, Father said something which confirmed my observation. The Grand Mufti endured a course of persecution and suffering because of his devotion to the unity of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. He does not speak about much of his suffering, just as Father does not speak of his deepest suffering. The Mufti also received his call from God in 1945, and much of his life and work for God parallels Father's. Father is fulfilling those goals to which this man has dedicated his life. There are two ways to respond to such a discovery. One could resent the person who fulfilled the mission to which you were called, and for which you have endured unspeakable suffering. The other would be to rejoice in seeing your ideals flourish. Mufti Kuftaro had the latter response. He is a man of profound humility and spirituality.

He met us for the first time at this recent conference, but he seemed to be led, as if by magic, to understand Father's position. The CWR film, which was produced by Ron Pacquette, first led him to see the breadth of Father's vision in the religious world. During the question and answer period on the Unification Movement, which occurred the following morning, Mufti Kuftaro spoke with increasing openness about Father's mission to the world, and because he had already established himself as the spiritual leader of the conference, his proclamations commanded serious attention. At the end of that session Mufti Kuftaro openly requested the opportunity to meet Father. By God's blessing arrangements were made and Father was very receptive, agreeing to have dinner with the Grand Mufti.

Question: What kind of position does Mufti Kuftaro have?

Each Muslim nation has a Grand Mufti. The position is that of the highest religious authority in the land. A Grand Mufti's relationship to the nation's political leader depends on how Islam is interpreted in that particular nation. A Mufti can dominate the political scene, work in cooperation with the political leader, or even possibly be at odds with the political leader. But in a Muslim nation, political leaders are very dependent on the cooperation of the religious leaders. It is necessary in order for them to secure the support of the people.

Question: Could you tell us how the meeting was?

Father set the meeting for dinner. Mr. Peter Kim was extremely helpful in the preparations, and acted as Father's translator during the time of the audience. Mr. Kim functioned as a mediator for both parties so that by his effort, both the True Parents and Mufti Kuftaro knew what to expect. East Garden sent down a car and brought us to the door of the new conference center there. Our arrival was radioed ahead of time, so that a reception line was ready when we got there. Because the Mufti walks slowly with a cane, there must have been some added suspense among those who waited, wondering why the car was there but the guest was so long in actually getting into the building. I walked in slightly ahead, prepared to assist with the introduction. As I entered, I saw that the reception line was set very formally and with great dignity, but as soon as Mufti Kuftaro peeked around the corner and saw Father, he burst out into a happy greeting, and the two men embraced as if it were the reunion of old friends. Father then introduced him to Mother and others on the line. Father meets with many people of great stature, but he is most joyful when he meets with a man of God.

We immediately went into the drawing room. There were a few brief exchanges in preparation for the moment when each one could present himself more fully. Mufti Kuftaro was the first to speak at length. He spoke with humility, yet at the same time revealed himself to be a man of global significance and influence. There were moments when I was nervous, thinking that he might try just to tell Father how great he is. As it turned out, he only made this long presentation so that the significance of his willingness to cooperate with Father could be properly understood.

Following Mufti Kaftaru's lovely remarks, Father spoke for approximately 45 minutes. His remarks were succinct, clear, and ingenious. I have listened to perhaps hundreds of hours of Father's sermons, but I have never been so overwhelmed by the clarity and magnitude of Father's vision as I was that night. Father went over the line of what a narrow-minded Muslim could possibly accept. He seemed to be saying, You say you are willing to cooperate with me, but this is what I believe about myself and my mission, now what do you think? He even gave specific advice on what is needed if there is to be hope of peace in the Middle East. At the end of this homily Father asked, just in the same way that he speaks to our members, "Can you do that?... Do you promise?" Mr. Kim seemed a bit nervous to translate, and others there laughed nervously. Father insisted, and when the Mufti heard the request translated into his own tongue (Arabic}, he put his hand on his heart and said, "It's my duty." At this point Father stood up, came across the room with hand outstretched and embraced him. They exchanged gifts and soon went in to dinner, where the evening lingered with an abundance of intimacy and joyousness. Father had the leaders present give reports of his international activities, and gave Mufti Kuftaro and his translator several beautiful gifts. One could feel God's warm embrace present. At the end of the meal, Father said, "When you're persecuted alone, life is most desolate and you feel you lose strength. But when you find another who has been persecuted for the same reasons, you find a lifelong friend, and your persecution becomes a source of strength."

As they left, Mufti Kuftaro insisted that Father not come out in the rain. Father insisted on coming out, showing him his sandals, like a boy with new shoes, explaining that they were waterproof, and splashed out through the puddles and stood in the rain waving good-bye into the window where the Mufti sat.

I think important developments in God's providence are involved here. Mufti Kuftaro is a vital figure in the Muslim world, and because of his position as a peacemaker, in a geopolitically significant nation (Syria) not particularly known for making peace, he has also become important beyond the world of Islam. He works with the governments of both superpowers, as well as with top religious leaders from non-Islamic religions. During their conversation, Father said, "I believe this to be a historical meeting. If we cooperate, we can hasten the coming of peace in the Middle East."

Council for the World's Religions conference on "Family and Law in Islam" in Istanbul, Turkey

Esteemed guests, venerable spiritual leaders, honored scholars, pioneers in the path of interfaith harmony. I am delighted to welcome you to this fourth international conference on Islamic unity. I am convinced that there is no more important task for the cause of world peace than the realization of harmony and cooperation among religious believers. Religious and ideological harmony is at the core of world peace, because religions and ideologies guide a person's internal dimension, the orientation of heart and mind. The power to move people's minds to overcome anger and resentment, to be tolerant of each other's faults and to strive for impartiality and compassion has to come through religion. God is the source of all the ideals that make for peace. And God has revealed these ideals to humankind through religion. When a person truly finds God in the core of the self, all hatred and prejudice perish.

Religious leaders are the true internal leaders of the world. You hold the key to real peace. If the religious leaders of any two warring nations came together and declared that their religions forbade their fighting with one another, could war continue for long? But sadly, few religions have the courage and authority to challenge politicians who inflame religious prejudice for selfish ends. We see some religious leaders using God's name for their narrow goals, sowing mistrust of others. Some religious leaders follow the lead of politicians as though religion were merely a support for popular nationalistic causes. Hence, religion itself becomes debased and loses its spiritual power. It ceases to be a way to reach the ideals of transcendent reality and becomes merely an expression of ethnicity.

Conditions for Peace

Peace cannot be dictated by external conditions. It must spring from the internal attitudes of people's minds. Internally, the peoples of the world are still far apart. We are beset by prejudices and fears of all kinds: racism, nationalism, religious sectarianism, cultural bias, economic jealousy and so on. The barriers that our self-centered minds erect against one another may become even higher and more threatening as external circumstances thrust us physically closer together. This situation is potentially very dangerous.

You have come here to discuss a truly pressing issue, Family and Law in Islam. Why is this so crucial? This is because Islam is one of the most powerful and widespread religions in the world. It is one of the great world's religions that has instructions for interfaith harmony imbedded in its revealed scriptures. It penetrates deeply into the lives of individuals and families in Islam as well as into the societies in which it is practiced. The family is the pillar of all that is good. Through the family, love is practiced, human beings are educated in goodness and the love of God and society is perpetuated. Islam defines all family roles in the context of religious responsibility and the love of God. If there is strife and division regarding this most important area of life, the consequences are grave. In all the world around us, the family is threatened. Let the people of God become one at least in this one indispensable area of life. For this reason, every moment you spend here is precious. May God bless your work here.

You who are gathered here show by your very presence your conviction that our world cannot afford to abandon the precious spiritual truths that have been embodied and preserved in the world's religious traditions. But how can religion have the power to bring peace to the world? In his keynote address at the 1985 Assembly of the World's Religions, Rev. Moon called for a new movement to revitalize and strengthen the spirit of each religion. This will not be a movement from outside preaching to each religion that it must change its ways. Rather, I am convinced that each religion has within itself the resources to recover its original vitality and spirit. I believe that even now God is moving within each religion, stimulating men and women with sensitive souls and pure hearts to reawaken their faith.

The founders of each of the world's religions were people inspired and led by God. They had intense faith and zeal to uncover the truth. They endured trials and spiritual struggles along the way. They sought to relieve the suffering of humanity, disregarding their own lives. Therefore God trusted them and revealed to them His deepest heart. Each religion should recover the pure spirit of the founder, the spirit of single-hearted devotion to God and service to humanity.

If religious leaders can achieve this level, they will shine among the people of their age. They cannot be bought or swayed by social pressure. They will not compromise themselves and their religions by greed and selfish behavior. They will manifest the spirit of God in every deed. Likewise, if leadership and the reactions to the leadership of others is undertaken with this spirit, how can it fail to inspire? Those who are guided in this way will experience transcendence, bliss and the holy presence of God.

Our Precious Brothers and Sisters

When we look upon the efforts of our brothers and sisters in other traditions suffering, sacrificing, and taking upon themselves the great burden of responsibility for the spiritual lives of the faithful, we cannot help but love them. If you are a religious leader or a devotee yourself, how can you fail to recognize beauty in the lives of those who voluntarily take upon themselves such noble devotion an hardship, even if they have certain important differences? Today's situation requires men and women of vision to comprehend the entire world as one.

While each religion or denomination originated in a restricted cultural environment, the modern environment for all cultures and religious expressions extends to the entire globe. What do you think the founder of your religion would be teaching if he were born in this century? Would he not be dealing with the situation of modern man? The sufferings that afflict humanity today have their own distinct form. Their situations call for specific programs and policies. The ecumenical movement is one expression of what is needed in this age. Would the essence of your tradition deny or affirm it? No religion or denomination stands alone before God. All stand together before their common Divine source.

I would like to suggest that seeking ways to establish harmonious and mutually supportive relations between the various expressions of God's great goodness as embodied in the various expressions of Islam, is one indispensable purpose of the religion. God's purpose is for religious harmony and cooperation so that religions and denominations can lead the way as internal leaders for an emerging world civilization. The conference, dialogues and social service projects sponsored by the International Religious Foundation exist to foster this purpose. We hope that the ongoing activity will eventually lead to cooperation and coordination between the major world's religious bodies for the cause of world peace and harmony. When religious communities join together to fulfill their responsibility to humanity, they will lead the way to world peace.

With this in mind, I thank you deeply for your participation in this conference. I encourage you to contribute to the goals and spirit of the Council for the World's Religions and affiliated projects of the International Religious Foundation. The morning is so calm, if we make so much noise [cheering and applauding Father] nature will be surprised!

The title of Father's speech this morning looks more like a picture than words, doesn't it? Translated from the Chinese characters it means "Our Whole Life and the Dispensation" or "Our Life's Career and the Dispensation."

We cannot live without a day. That means we cannot detach from this day. Without this day, or this month, or this year we cannot live. What is the average life span of a person? Maybe seventy five years. What about trees? They live a very long time. The king of creation, man lives less than trees?

There are carp at East Garden that live for 450 years or longer. These fish have been living for four generations of man. Do you want to live a long time? To what age? Your mouth tells Father you want to live long. Even if we live 10,000 years though, there is no notice, nothing remaining to say that you lived that long. It means after living 10,000 years that man would want to start again and live another 10,000 years. Do you think so? There is no end to that desire for life.

We must know each day of our entire life is different. Our 'whole life' means from the day we are born until we go to the grave. Within a lifetime are there more pleasant days or difficult days? Are there more happy days or sad days? This is the question. What about Unification Church members?

Perhaps a good deal of our life we've been scolded and reprimanded by Father! There is such a thing as an individual's 'whole life', but there is also a historical 'whole life'. There is no such concept of this now but we hope there will be soon. We need to recognize the historical rise and fall of a generation. History is the record of the vertical life.

Everyday we hear the news and can read the newspapers. The news is not centered on individuals but on countries, a nation, the President, and so on. The news is compiled based on these types of things. Right now America is in the forty first presidency. During this time, the 41st, 42nd and 43rd presidencies, America's future and fate will be formed.

When we compile a history, listing so and so as President during this time and so and so at another time, we use his name. His wife and cabinet are not mentioned. We can see that world history is compiled of the leaders of the times.

If you asked the leaders of democratic and communist countries which is the most important time in history for their regimes, what would they answer? The communists would say that world history is important centered on the communist revolution. If you ask them what they are proud of in communism, they would answer that they have the formula for historical advancement. The dialectics a theory for advancement through struggle which they say works.

On the other hand the democratic world would be proud of the sovereignty by the people which others do not have. America is a democracy which holds onto people. It cannot be detached from them. Freedom is what we are seeking. Is that freedom centered on man? Through what can we achieve this absolute freedom?

When we say "man", do we mean men and women? In a democracy we say "people". We mean both men and women.

Single individuals, both men and women value freedom. But centered on this individualism, they lost the larger sense of everything--their country, families, parents and so on. After asserting an individual will for a long time people lose sight of everything else. Subject and object must exist for a country and all other levels of relationship to endure, but these positions are lost after stressing individuality.

After a while in democracy, young people forget about their parents. Parenthood and their country mean nothing. Men and women say, "All I need is me." What started from a hopeful democracy has gradually reduced itself to nothingness. This idea started with strength but eventually has come down to nihilism. Can this kind of democratic concept save the world today? No. It cannot become a central concept. As a result, they lost everything. There are no longer parents to look up to, no country to take pride in. Women gave up looking for the ideal man. People have even given up looking for good friends.

The idea of a single man searching for democracy has failed. Maybe there is some hope in men and women searching for democracy together. What kind of an "ism" is that? Our conclusion is that individual democracy has to be second under democracy between men and women. A democracy between men and women sounds strange doesn't it? Individualism means "manism" and "womanism", but far better is "couplism" or a "couplistic" system. How about a democracy of family or "familistic democracy?" How about a tribalistic democracy, or nationalistic, or worldistic democracy? Each level gets better! But democracy cannot carry us to that high plane. It can possibly reach up to the individualistic level but then it falls down.

We thought that America's idea was great, but now we listen to Father and realize that the United States hasn't been thinking great at all.

The world has given up. People from democratic countries and communists all realize their systems will not work. What about the Unification Church? True love is our ideal. True loveism is what we're for! At best "Godism" is a concept, but not reality. But if we use the word love, it is more concrete. Many still do not know God, but people know what love is and they want it.

Love can only be considered a concept by the fact that we do not see it. But we can use it to exert influence in all different situations. We have seen it bring change. No matter how great a man is, how smart or handsome he may be, he cannot live without love. He cannot exist without love.

Ask your eyes, "What do you want to see?" They will answer, "I would like to see things through love." Even though we cannot see love yet, we want to see through love. Ask your nose, "What do you most want to do?" It will say, "I want to smell through love." Ask your mouth, ears, and touch the same question and you will get the same kind of answer. They all want to experience love. All this is horizontal, but more important is the vertical love. All love combined into one is called True Love. Do you like it?

When it comes to a situation of concept versus reality, communists will say God is a concept. We just say God is centered on true love. God is great because God is the center of love in the universe. Without Him love cannot be exchanged. This is very real and no longer a concept. But before we know this God is only a concept.

The communists will say, "We labor to get bread to eat." We say, "We work hard for the sake of love." Which is better? [Love!] This is an important point to distinguish what we cannot see actually has more influence than what we can see, for example love has greater influence than bread. Does anyone ever despair saying "I am going to kill myself because I can't eat three meals a day"? What about because of unfulfilled love? That is more believable. If one works incredibly hard just to be eating, it doesn't seem to make much sense. But we can easily see the sense in one who gives all for love. This is so important! What do we live for? Something we cannot see, but is so valuable! Let's say there is a couple fighting, demanding, "Do you love me?" You can tell your lover, "Yes, from my heart." That seems tangible. If you say, "I love you in my mind", it is only concept. We cannot see the mind and don't know where it is dwelling. We cannot forget or deny the value of the one thinking and working with love in mind. Which is more precious, a body friend or a mind friend? A body-mind friend is the most valuable. Likewise God and man combined together is more precious than either separately.

There are two different people. One wants to live with God and make a connection with Him. The other does not include God in his individual life. By comparison, the first is much richer and more significant.

God-fearing people in America gradually lost track of God and have been reduced to humanists. Humanism is very close to communism. The only difference is that humanists do not understand what they are doing. This is a point of danger when they no longer have God in their lives.

Individual democracy has no value. Maybe we can salvage it? How? If we have to be democratic individuals, at least do it for the opposite sex. We always yearn to be free, but what is that freedom? Individualism is supposed to mean freedom itself. But, actually it is inconsistent. The dilemma is that we need freedom on a world scale.

A woman who upholds democracy wanting freedom for women, denies men, parents, and the family system. All she wants is to see a woman president. We have seen this kind of woman.

Freedom for democracy's sake makes no sense. Individuals want to be free for the sake of love. Then we have something to look forward for. Democracy centered on the individual does not make sense. There is no valid goal there. But democracy centered on love immediately makes sense and has meaning. There is no complaining on any level for a democracy of love.

Do Americans have freedom? Maybe the IRS has freedom! Love should be the essence of freedom. All freedom means is love.

Unificationism is the supreme thought. Godism (which is hard to catch) means loveism. That is something people can immediately understand. Reverend Moon is not dumb. All people, from the most educated to the poorest, want to reach the terminal purpose of love. Then we can reach God and become one, God and man together. At that point God feels freedom. With love a man combines with God and can achieve everything. This is not a horizontal relationship. We want to combine in this vertical love.

That point is the main theme of Father's sermon today. God is also living, so God has a 'whole life' too. The meaning of 'whole life' is centered in daily life. Is God alive or dead? [Alive!] Who taught you that? [Father!] Not Father! God did. Think about that. What is God doing in His lifetime? This is something to think about. Why does God live? What is His purpose? True love is the purpose He is living to fulfill.

What is God doing? Is He just sitting on a throne and sleeping? No! His eyes are wide awake. Why? Like a child you can ask these kinds of questions. God has somebody He loves much and wants to see, so He keeps His eyes wide open to see them. Why does God have ears? He wants to hear the one that He loves so much. It is the same with His nose, and mouth and touch. Ask God if this is true and he will say, "Yes, you are right."

Now we know clearly. God exists for the sake of love, for the sake of someone He loves, which is all people. If even God exists like that, what about you women? You exist for the sake of men, actually the sake of love is better. If a family says, "We exist for the sake of love", it has a good sound. If we hear the same thing from a country, the world or the cosmos we get a better and better feeling on every level. God and man came into being not to conflict with each other, but for love, hopefully and happy. Does God prefer to be subject or would he prefer to let True love be the subject and He could support it? God is only one entity so He cannot follow everyone at the same time. But every human wants to put God on his side. Individually God is limited, but if you want to grasp Him, then reach Him with love and He becomes unlimited.

Without love we would not even want God around, but because love is His center we want Him. If we take love out of God, He is not worth any more than a statue or a grain of sand. We have to be able to concretely explain this to others.

If you experience love flowing between God and you, you do not need to own God. The love will be the same but it will be limitless. Even greedy people will not have to own Him.

Everyone sees God a different way. Thanks to Father, we know God is the source of love. When we think about that love our spirits are instantly elevated.

To explain love in a concrete way, we can say that love is the highest point that we can reach. In love we find freedom. We can go anywhere and then return and we do not mind.

What about American men who think that God should stay in the United States? They think God only loves whites and make assertions based on their individual position.

Love's property and character is to embrace an unhappy man first before a happy one, a poor and miserable person before a happy person. That is love's way.

See God as a Being of love. You immediately become elevated in love. We have all things of the universe going on in our minds when we mention God. You can see Him in the proper position in history and the universe.

Would you rather have a father with power like the President or a homely father who understands you, fulfills your needs and does his best to take care of you? Even though he has no position or public recognition you would still rather have the second kind of father. God exists only for love. He controls, leads and harmonizes through love. That is all anyone wants. What are we? His sons and daughters. That too must be my personality.

How about individuality centered on love. That sounds not so bad. But 'not so bad' still means on the bad side, not quite good either. Maybe this is the only way though to educate Americans who cannot detach themselves from democracy. Individuality as long as it is centered on love is not so bad. But otherwise it is no good. There is no place for individual centered democracy in God's realm.

Even if you are a democratic individual but you still love your husband, it is okay if you still live the right way.

God is one who wants to surrender to an object of love. Love is glorious! We can even tell great and powerful God, "We know you want love!"

God is very high in love, the longest in length and size of love. This is consistent. God can travel a great distance in love. That is nothing unusual. No matter where or how far He travels on Earth, no one including those in the spirit world would object, but only welcome Him.

Is Reverend Moon a foolish guy or a smart guy? [Smart guy!] Before we joined we did not know. People outside do not have the foggiest idea who Father is and yet they oppose him. Which is greater, the person who understands nothing and still opposes, or Father who understands them, completely accepts their painful persecution and still continues on for the sake of God?

[Father speaks in English] Through an interpreter, you can only get 70% of the truth. This is not so good. Father only likes good! We have to read the books of Father's original speeches. Right now in Korea there are almost two hundred books waiting for you. They are serious books. I want you to be able to read the original in Korean. The truth is 100%. All people in the future will want to read these speeches. People will compete to read them and memorize them.

How many times have I repeated it? How can you reach the deepest point of the truth if you cannot understand the original language? It is so valuable. English words are not scientific. They are complicated, you need to memorize everything.

Father is the true love master. Fifteen years ago he came to the United States. My truth is the true love connecting one world. The world wants it, more than food, authority or knowledge. Now I am substantiating what I came to America to do. No one can deny it. Not the President, famous professors, the media or business world. I made a foundation and am now connecting all these points together.

If you take love out of all of Father's speeches they have no value. Do you American women like me? Even you greedy women? American women like to separate money into their husbands and theirs. You need a new concept.

Sometimes when women talk it is like barking. Love barking is okay though.

Centered on true love, you can be number one people. You can have pride, Americans can become great people.

Father came to the United States with confidence in mind. If I come with love and do everything with love, no matter what persecution and misunderstanding comes, eventually they will come to understand. No matter how big a nuclear weapon you have, or how much knowledge or power you have, none of it is enough to make human beings happy. Only love can do this.

In the sense of really understanding love the United States is backwards. It is primitive, like a wilderness country. American love is crude. American people feel they are so superior. In a way Father has done a fearful thing cross matching couples between race and nationality. After a few generations our concepts will change. We will think it strange to see a couple made of two whites or two blacks together. Who made this change? You did it! Thank you!

Once the love gate is open, all creatures--even in hell will want to come through it. The narrow hole will get bigger. We too will want to go through it.

We have to love, not wait to be loved. Women should combine with men as their subject. We have to go the way of investment and caring.

When we say "I love you" to Father it pays so much indemnity for America. Father has paid so much for that. Our words are very precious. Do we love him like God, or like parents or children? The words are easy, the context so deep. When I hear you say that I want to forgive everything, all the pain I had to endure because of America. Those little words have that kind of power.

God invented everything in the original creation. He poured out every bit of energy and effort into it. Re creation is the same thing. Now we can understand everything. How much have I invested for the sake of the one I love?

Ask yourself, "Am I riding on the train of love or am I carrying the train of love and running down the track?" I want to raise the kind of loving wives who can become a train of love. Even if a woman doesn't know so much, if she is taught she will welcome her husband and family to ride on her train of love. Even you American women want to do this? [Yes!] Those are beautiful words!

Even if husband and wife fight all the time, and one gets sick who will be the one person that stays at the bedside all through the night? Your spouse will be the one to be there and love you.

What if your spouse dies? The world would become so dark. You would walk like you were in a delirium. There is nothing more fearful than losing true love. Mother always tells Father not to overwork himself and to sleep more. Mother wants to help Father live a longer and healthier life. What would the world be like without Father? What if God dies, how would Father feel? The whole world would be the darkest pitch dark.

Do you diligently love your wife first and then hate her shortcomings or do you love her, hate her, love her, hate her?

If you already have an idea of what your wife should be, how painful that is for your wife and how sinful it is for you. That is not a fair kind of thinking. The truth is from 0 to 100, not 50 to 100, you have to embrace everything. True love has no place to stand in any other kind of concept. Such a person who treats their spouse this way is a cheater and swindler.

God's 'whole life' started at point zero and is moving toward 100. God looks at us and calculates our degree.

What do you think. Would Father have come to America and wished to marry an American woman? Do American women wish they were married to some one like Father? There is such a big difference between western women and Korean women. There is no comparison in the chastity of the two.

Women on high heels are a most unstable situation. The American concept of a beautiful woman is a small head, broad shoulders, a skinny waist and then a broad area again. [Father draws a picture] She has to keep busy and moving all the time to keep this shape. If she sits for too long she gets a sore back!

Chinese women have great potential. They are formidable, embracing 1.3 billion people and keeping their country going. If American women were placed in that situation they would have disappeared a long time ago.

If Father had an American wife she would be away working all the time and that would be no good. If he is out busy and working all the time too, she would not be a balancing wife.

Oriental women become bigger than American women. They have thick waists. They can stay in one place a long time while the husband is working towards a successful mission. She supports her husband through prayer and exercises discipline.

Now is the time of equalization. Oriental and western should be equalizing centering on the original concept.

Today we have learned that even God lives for the sake of love. Why does God exist or where does God come from? What is your answer? True love is like a labyrinth. Sometimes you understand it, sometimes you totally do not understand. Sometimes it has a simple appearance, other times it is very mysterious. God exists for love. True love can combine every substantial existence. There is no other explanation. God started to exist because of love. Small things started with a motivation of love become bigger and bigger.

The career of God's 'whole life' has been working to fulfill the providence of leading by true love. He controls, not by force or power but by love. If we come from God we do the same thing God does. We live one life to fulfill the providence, practice love and leave love behind as the result of our life long performance.

Father came a little late today. Father was talking to the children about himself. He told them who he is. He is the king of laborers with heart. He is also a typical farmer. The one who works for the sake of the world with love. He is a true fisherman with love. Of all history he is the only fisherman like this.

There is a needle with a thread of love. No matter where it goes, Father follows this way. Father has to make a shaft for the entire earth to spin on. He cannot do it all at one time but an area at a time, eventually connecting all the threads together into a rope. Fisherman, farmer, laborer, professor, religious person, these are all the ways that Father has to go. Why? In all walks of life, there are so many different people in hell. They could not become true parents. Through love we have to re connect them so they can come back to the original path. We must understand God governs by law. If someone breaks it He cannot just dismiss it. God would like to say "To hell with the law". He would do anything to free one of His children, even one under the death penalty. Everything comes under love.

Thirty five years ago I put so much into the machine industry. Father was setting the tradition of doing everything with a total commitment of heart.

The most difficult thing in the United States is fishing. No one wants to do it even though there is a lot of money to be gained--it is too much work. Especially through the fisheries, the United States government can come to Father. One reason fishing is going down and young men do not want to go to sea is because their wives run away. American women are every time making problems. In the beginning time of human kind, women made a problem.

Father has been fishing so intensely. If Dr. Durst came along he would get knocked out. Mr. Kamiyama would last a few days longer, then perhaps run away too. Father loves boats, fishing, anything to do with the ocean.

There used to be tremendous persecution in Gloucester. People said "Reverend Moon go home!" Now they say "Reverend Moon, don't go!" In the beginning we were misunderstood. The coast guard would come every day and check our boats for smuggling drugs. Now on both the east and west coasts they are saying that there is nothing wrong with Reverend Moon. Father knows the future of the fishing industry. It is the hope of the future's food source.

At Father's young age, he studied farming. He took human waste and made it into fertilizer. It is the best stuff! Man as the highest creation eats the best food, so he also has the best waste. Even Americans are beginning to understand that chemical fertilizers are corroding the soil. Human and animal waste is better.

Laborer, farmer, fishing, teaching professors, all of this Father has brought together and connected to this shaft. All persecuted him before but now in Korea all politicians come to him for advice. Some in Japan are too, also soon in America.

Father is saying that unless he finishes his work, he cannot die. His research and work on the ocean is that crucial. Father brings his own destiny into the boat. He knows he cannot die, all the universe will protect the king of all things there. Once Father starts doing something he works at it like he was born for only that purpose. He works in place of God.

We have to know this way. Follow Gods way, it takes following with our whole lives. Those who can pledge to do this raise both hands!

Often in life we mean to go forward but we usually come back to the same point, not advancing very much. We also revolve. East yearns for west, above for below, front for back, so they can turn together. What is it to be ideal? In the United States it is ideal for those who are above to have give and take with those below. They will do well to do this. This kind of rich give and take can be called ideal.

Have you ever stopped to think that one is meant to walk straight, but eventually make a big circle and come back to the same point? How do men and women walk in harmony with each other? As they walk the way of life would men descend down to meet women or would women ascend up to meet man? Would their pace be the same? It isn't likely.

If you divide a person's body in half with a horizontal line, in men the shoulders are heavier, in women the lower part is heavier. Man is master of above, women is master of below.

There is quite a difference between east and west. Have you ever noticed eastern people are almost never left handed? In the west it is not so clear. Some people are left handed, some are right handed and some are ambidextrous. In the east women sit on the left of a man so the man has to help her with his right hand. In the west, what side does the women sit on? It doesn't really matter so much does it? There is confusion.

All things must harmonize, above and below, left and right, up and down to eventually make a circle. [Father draws a diagram of a spiral leading into the center of a circle and then coming back out of the spiral. The spiral is drawn on top of intersecting vertical and horizontal lines.] If you are confused you may be able to go into the circle but not get back out. It means you cannot continue. The real starting point is the center point. You must come out and then go back in.

A man's life's starting point is his parents. He goes out to life and a career and always comes back to the native place, where he wishes to find his parents. When we find the parents and they see something lacking in us, they will try to make up for that. If something is lacking in the parents the children want to fill it up. This is making a vertical balance.

What is the ideal man? He is welcomed no matter where he is on the circle. He is a representative of the right vertical and the right horizontal lines.

[Father draws a variety of shapes that look like different sized pieces of pie. One is a quarter of the pie with two straight lines and a round edge.] Which shape represents the best man? The more complete shape is better. If you do not like a curving line you are denying a part of your existence. [Father points to very narrow pie shape.] Some say "I specialize." They are in real trouble, there is no room for anything. The ideal angle is ninety degrees not any of these others. Why? Because once you have a right angle, it always fits. Even if it is smaller, or larger or upside down a ninety degree angle will always fit together. It will fit in every place, in the east or the west. If you invert it, it still fits too and harmonizes every where.

When we say east and west will unite how will we do it? What is the ideal form of uniting? Is it to take one piece too big and one too small and bang them until they fit together? No, they should slide together and fit naturally.

Father said he is a very orderly man. That is an everyday saying in the orient. It means that everything within that person is in a straight line.

[Father draws the Chinese character for the word 'right'. It has a horizontal line on top representing heaven, two parallel lines representing man and woman and a horizontal line on the bottom representing earth. There is a small horizontal line extending from the right side vertical line, which represents the branch or child.] The branch comes from the father. Where do you women come from, your mother or father? I know the American women are saying "mother", but the answer is father. Women need to harmonize with love and become one with man.

Imagine a man with two eyes in a vertical position. It would be extremely confusing. We have the idea that heaven and earth will harmonize. In laughing there is a standard of vertical and horizontal. If a woman has a protruding mouth, she always talks more than necessary. Your body has unmistakable signs of your personality.

You need to have strong vertical and horizontal lines, even facially. You are always balanced then. Where does laughter start from? Your laugh should begin from your eyes. They eyes represent God. The thumb also represents God. It holds over all four fingers. Twelve months symbolize the universe. God protects all seasons.

The person who walks looking down does not walk a long path of life. He who leans to the left always walks turning to the left. The man who is straight and looks ahead lives a long time. Look where a person's eyes are focusing. The one who is focusing far ahead will live a long time. In a man who is following principle, the ears should dissect his face exactly in half. Politician's ears sag down, they are more interested in 'below' type of things. A religious man's ears tend to be higher.

There should always be a standard so measurement can be made based on it. Some people open their mouths when sleeping. An orderly man sleeps with his eyes and mouth closed. The person who has a lot to say but no chance to say it sleeps with his mouth open.

The essence of being ideal is to center on one vertical line and for a horizontal line to intersect it at an exact ninety degree angle. All individuals with this as a base have good relationships. The longer vertical line is better. It is more stable.

When you look at a tree your eye is drawn to the trunk first. It is the center. Your eyes focus there and then follow out to the branches and leaves.

Think of uniting east and west, or above and below. Reduce it down to this basic shape. [Father draws quarter pie shape again.] With this basic shape we have elements of the ideal. What constitutes these two intersecting lines?

Man and woman can harmonize but what is the center? It is love. People cannot harmonize through money or power. Only love can make and shape the deepest harmony. Where do man and woman connect? At the center point. The connecting point cannot be weak, but must be very strong. Even though a woman's eyes and ears may wander they will always come back to the center to rest.

Why do women want to wear such bright colors and nice clothes? The man is the nucleus of a couple, he is not visible. The woman is surrounding him all around. She wants to be very colorful and visible.

The woman who is over decorated is deviated and a little disturbed. She wants to be noticed. What about a stable woman? She is happy to wear the same dress over and over as long as she has a token of her husband's love. No matter what the covering is though, what is precious is the contents.

Why is Father elaborating this point? In the west men and women do not have a standard. Individuality is the standard. Even a democratic style of dressing would not be as good as the standard according to principle.

What is the most colorful thing? That which started from love. Love is more colorful than anything. If you offer true love to a hungry black man he eats it right up. If you offer it to a pig, he eats it too, a white person will also eat it. There are no cultural differences, everyone wants true love. A house built centered on love is the most ideal building. Women want to change things all the time, even the furniture. Mother likes to rearrange the furniture at East Garden. It makes Father dizzy. His pace of change is slower than Mother's.

When you go from east to west or west to east you want to go together with your husband. You want to be together forever. Sometimes it is very annoying to be with someone else all the time, but if love is there you never mind.

Men are perpetual and always flowing. They are stable and do not change or react so much. Women come and love, go away and then come back. Women are like reeds. In the morning the wind blows them in one direction and at night they are blowing in a different direction. They are very busy responding to everything.

We need to create a strong shaft as an axis to rotate on. True love is the only essence this shaft can be made of. There may be a woman so sensitive that you cannot even touch her, but eventually even she will have to be stuck with this true love stick. After that this woman should say, "All I have is yours, I don't care how you treat me."

Man is unchanging, even wearing the same suit for all four seasons. Women want to cling to men, to make them look better. A woman wants to fold herself around her man.

When a woman is happy she says so, but a man just smiles. It is better to be a quiet man than one who expresses love like a woman. Men and women are so extremely different that the only way to harmonize is through love.

Let's say there is a ninety eight year old man and woman. Their hands are nothing but skin and bone. But the wife will still hold her husbands hand with the deepest caress of love. This is much more than what young people have. Father was fishing in Florida recently and saw a young man who looked like a hippie. He was kissing a girl for over forty five minutes! But no one was even noticing them. Only Father seemed to be observing them. What if this ninety eight year old couple sat in public kissing for forty five minutes? Do you think people would notice? A whole crowd would gather around them to watch. It would be very special. Their love is much deeper.

Only love can settle differences and harmonize. Father has been talking one hour already without getting to his topic. Do you mind? [No!] We are crazy centering on universal love. We are the happiest crazy people.

We are born because of love, because our parents came together and loved each other. We do not mind hearing that. Women must seek, find and follow a man. When we understand why we do not mind. It is so you can find your love. When you live for the sake of love, there is more hope there. If you die for the sake of love, it has a beautiful quality and sound to it. If someone dies for the sake of money or authority it sounds bad, but love is completely different.

Nothing else is closer to the ideal than love. What is the framework or basic structure of forming a family? If love is the frame, then everything will be alright in that family. The home which is made up of love is an ideal home. The same structure works with a nation even though it is much larger than a family. We eventually need to build a cosmic frame of love. There cannot be anything else besides love no matter how big the area we want to cover. A country needs a person who loves that country more than anything else, like the cosmos and the family need the same. The one who loves the cosmos more than anything else is called a holy son. The one who loves the world is a saint, the one who loves the country is a patriot and the one who loves the family is a filial son. They all have love in common. Loving even beyond their life.

This same is true in essence both in the east and west, but to different degrees. That is the problem. Where did the difference come from? Nobody wanted any kind of deviation, not the filial son, holy man or patriot, so why did it happen? They successfully formed a right angle, but the problem is that the vertical line has never been properly discovered and treated straight.

Who will be the first one in the history of this country to achieve this right vertical and right horizontal connection? Will it be your parents or grandparents or you?

The size of the circle does not matter. As long as the right angle is there everything will fit properly.

Always check yourself, "Am I straight in conforming to the vertical line?" You have to check yourself by the vertical tradition and horizontal law. The system was made by law.

A woman's tradition is her monthly cycle. It should be very regular. You should always try hard to maintain a ninety degree tradition with your husband.

No matter how small, a right angle is the standard form. Your eyes and facial features, your daily life, your entire career, everything has to maintain this ninety degree angle. Everything in the universe wants to harmonize with this basic form, in spirit world too.

In love, marriage is the ideal form. There the love will start growing. Men and women can never become one until they come into love. They are so different there is no other way to harmonize.

If you say to the President that you want to see him for the sake of loving the country more, he cannot deny you. You can even say to God, "I want to see You for the sake of loving the world more." He cannot deny you.

No matter how small, we need this ideal form. What is an honest man? He is centered on love and treats the vertical and horizontal relationships right. No matter where he goes or what his position is, he is welcome. Such a man is free. He lives beyond the law of the land. If you ask God to show you His original form and you look at yours, do you think they will be different? No, they are both made up of ninety degree angles and are exactly the same.

Through the vertical tradition we can meet any ancestor we want to. Since we live horizontally there is no brother or sister we cannot see. Since we lack this concept though, we cannot yet be free of racial divisions. The ones who will be able to dominate this situation will be those of mixed blood. Those who have parents of both races. Father predicts that in the future a genius will be born between black and white parents.

Why do birds migrate? They travel far even when there is sufficient food where they are. Any parent wants to give their children the best. They go to a place with the best food and the best possible circumstances for mating and child rearing. Tropical birds go to cold weather places. Fish too go from the ocean to fresh water to spawn like striped bass and salmon. Some types of crabs move from fresh water to salt water to reproduce. Man is always out for conquest. They want to hunt animals and catch big fish. Women do not even think about it. They just want to make things more beautiful.

Great learning and great teaching will take place between east and west. Young Americans will give up their great educated professors and go to the east to look for a great teacher. Americans have been so busy collecting material things so that they could have the best life possible. Now they have everything [externally] but realize there is still something missing, so they are looking to the east. The eastern man thinks that he knows everything internally but is now looking to the west to see how he can make his life more complete.

Father will be the best teacher for young American people to follow. Once we live like this and then try to go back to our old way of life we find that there is no excitement and no fun there. Americans even want to follow little Japanese, it looks like a deer following a rabbit. A sure sign of the end of days!

Our movement will continue on as always eventually becoming the permanent pattern.

Becoming vertical means we have to give up everything. Now the west is seeking the vertical. The east thinks they have found it so they come to the west in search of the horizontal.

This teaching of the ninety degree standard is the first and last teaching. We missed the first chance. If you can grab that one point, you will find that everything else is connected to it.

There is one center. God is at the center and Father's mind dwells there. Knowing this way you have something special to give to this world. People are waiting to meet you. Don't stay at home. The whole world is waiting for you the same as they are asking me to come. Every leader calls me up saying "Father, we are waiting for you. We make everything special for you. Please come see us."

What is the topic today? Return to the origin. What is the origin? God is the origin. What are we? The result.

Anglo Saxons made the opium war. That started the whole problem of young American people taking drugs. This is cause and result. What is sown shall be reaped. Father came here to plant good things.

The fallen world was made by women and now indemnity can be paid by them. Especially now American women teenagers are waiting for Father. The American woman has become a queen with her man following around behind her. This has happened in order to help God's providence.

In the future American people will raise up the Unification flag. I am telling you now. Do you believe me?

From now your mission is to stir up America in a good way. This is always what I have been doing. Now you can take the parents position.

Who is happier, you or Father? You have everything. You have God, you have True Parents. I don't have anything. You are the happiest people. That is good. You can use that happiness for the sake of America and God's will.

The Founding Anniversary and Final Liberation

Today we greet the thirty fifth anniversary of the founding of the Unification Church. What is the situation of the Unification Church today? Is the Unification Church or Reverend Moon more widely known and famous? [Reverend Moon!] Why is it so? Is he famous in a good sense or bad? Today it is mixed. Some say he is the greatest, others say he is bad. From now on, which group will increase? Those with the understanding that he is good. Those who see a positive view will increase quickly from now. We can consider that the more people get interested in what Father has done, the more they will begin to study. The more they study, the more they will come to understand what he has accomplished.

In the future the people who come will be more important leader types who have high positions in the world. What about Unification Church members who have been heartistically supporting Father (without any social position)? There will be a time to see how it balances and which side will be larger and more.

Foundation Day relates to the founding of the church. Before the founding there was a will and a purpose. People will have to see that. People will have to look back and follow the history of the Unification Church.

We have been following Father. What happens when Father goes to spirit world? What will guide us? Where do we look for guidance? How many years will the Unification Church continue on, how many more anniversaries will there be? Have you ever stopped to think about that? Now we are dedicated and following but in 1000 years what will the world have become? If we are going to continue on 1000 years, then we should stop and look at where we should go.

Take the clear example of Christianity. For 2000 years it was strong. Now they are confused. Christians have lost their faith. If we look at the Unification Church thousands of years from now, what kind of standard will there be?

All religions started out with a founding spirit and strong influence. But thousands of years later when the spirit is down the founding person will find that he has become powerless. It is only reasonable to wonder how long the Unification Church which is so strong and only prosperous, will go on this strongly. It is reasonable to think about the future now.

When something is centered on a person and that person loses power, his followers will too. But if a religion is founded on God it will develop and finish its work when God has too. When something begins from God, it is necessary to God Himself and everyone. Therefore this church must also go on transcending history, digesting change, and finally creating a foundation with God at the end. What is it that God has wanted for all eternity, for thousands and billions of years?

Look at nature. It has been perpetual under one law. The existence of male and female aspects is a concrete law. This law dominates the nature from any of the three kingdoms. Generations will perish, but new ones will begin. We have seen this through history. All things are male and female, even within mankind. Many things can be improved upon but this phenomena cannot be revolutionized, it is constant.

In the animal kingdom there is one set of parents. But humans have institutionalized life. The order is confused. In one family there can be two or three even four different parents because of divorce. It is confusing to a child. What God wants is to propagate a traditional family. He loves that.

What about God Himself? He wants nothing but love. What God wants and what man wants cannot be two different things. In nature for example, the animal kingdom has horizontal love. It came and has continued for millions of years. Man and his love exist in the vertical dimension. It must become consistent with God's desire and ideal. We should never go against that. It is the only way for us to prosper. This is the central concept. A child of God has to have this vertical concept. The vertical connection must be well founded and not deviated from.

Up on God's level there is no question, it is very clear that the vertical tradition is necessary. But what of man's offspring? They will be the ones at the grassroots of this effort, but will they support God's concept? This is the question.

Has any man and woman ever lived with the concept of living a perfected horizontal idea? This is what love is but nobody has known about it because no one has had any idea about the vertical concept. If we know the vertical concept we know we need a horizontal concept as well. Like right requires left, front calls for back, and so on. When we say men we automatically have women in mind. One does not exist without the other.

Everyone wants to live a good life. Even if a man and woman do live in perfect alignment with each other there is still a big discrepancy in their relation to the vertical line. Maybe their horizontal line intersects the vertical line at only ten or thirty degrees. What about a blessed couple? What degree are you? Do you have a goal or a vision? Just like the horizontal ideal exists with the vertical in mind, if you want the ideal husband/wife relationship you need to have an ideal relationship with God in mind first. Man or woman has to think about a perfect vertical relationship first, then he or she will think about a perfect horizontal relationship. Do you follow?

This horizontal concept is an obvious and necessary conclusion. We always talk about subject and object roles and how they must become one, but before that we must maintain a perfect vertical relationship first.

This is the thirty fifth anniversary of our church. So many changes have come about. Father had a choice, he could talk about the highlights of this history, yet he thought, we have to continue on forever. What then becomes important? What we need to understand more deeply is that as long as we understand principle we can continue on with God forever. That is why Father has brought up this subject today.

Even within a man there is an aspect of woman. Each half goes around and around. Within each of us we have a man of flesh and a man of mind. We have these dual characteristics. The mind is subject and the body is object. When the two are harmonious we will be ideal. Within one man there is the need to combine the horizontal and vertical relationship. Create a center in yourself by combining the two. That is the perfect relationship.

All men want to become one with their nation, the world and ultimately with the universe so that they can rise up in their position. There is such a large population on the earth and so many who have already gone to spirit world, but there are still only two types of human beings, man and woman. Only two! Who is the established model and prototype? True love. True Parents were modeled after that. Which came first true love or True Parents? [True love.] Between God and true love, which came first?

When we talk about the ideal there needs to be an object for that ideal to exist. When God began the ideal He had an object which was love. Even God had that in mind. He has everything, but He wants nothing but love. Is there anything that God can worship? Something that He respects? This is very practical. Every man wants to respect something lofty. We want to adore and relate to something higher. That mind comes from God He must have that too. It is true love. This is an important point.

The shortcomings of religion have been that they dealt with conceptual things and stop there. In the Unification Church we see the ideal concept is rooted in reality. It must come to exist in reality. This is historic and important for humans to solve.

In His relationship with man, God needs to solve this concept and make sure that it is correct. No one has known this before. Once a man or woman joins the Unification Church, they graft onto the truth and have a small root. There is then no other place for this person to live. If they leave and go elsewhere they still remember their root is here. Is there anything God can admire and respect? True love. Even God has unlimited respect for a true love object. Not just any object, but a true love object. God must be smiling down on us as we have this conversation. Ask Him directly, "Is it true?"

Do you envy God? What if God asks you to switch positions? He'll say "You can sit in my place all by yourself with mountains of gold and diamonds. You can have all the power. You can kill somebody if you want or love anybody". Would you want to switch? [No.] Is God happy or lonely? [Lonely.] He is devoid of a true love object. He has many objects, but no true love object. Think for a minute what is a true love object? Maybe a gorilla? Would you want to marry a gorilla? Evolutionists say they are your ancestors! Evolution has no place. It is a concept which will perish very soon. Do you think man could evolve into a woman and a woman into a man? Do you think that all animals with four feet could become the same kind of animal? No, they all have different origins. Can you cross a lion and a tiger? Scientists might have tried it but we've never heard of any result. If you dissect the dead body of a lion and tiger you will notice that there are many similarities but they could never be crossed together.

There are two different sexes, this cannot be changed. Women will never be able to give birth through their mouths or any other organ, only the one made for it. The concept is the question. Reality follows it.

Our conclusion is that even God admires, wants to hold, wants to live twenty four hours a day with, a true love object. People think that God wants nothing, but this is not true.

God and His object need lots of accessories. That is all things plants, animals and minerals. This object of God wants to have lots of things. The smaller a woman is the larger her desire to have things. But this is not bad, it is the way it was designed to be. God wants an object and the object has to propose love to God. Before he does that though he has to gather a big offering--hunt animals, grow crops, mine diamonds, etc. then bring those things to God and give them to Him. Man does not look for these things only out of greed but out of love too. God created all things for us to use to love each other. At last someone understands this truth! This is truly an exciting and life saving concept.

Buddhists say that all desire is bad. They try to deny all desire. But we do have desire. Father says since you have these desires use them in this true way.

We must love our parents, children and all the population of the world. Beyond that we must love all animals, plants and the mineral kingdom. Gather them together and bring them to God. How precious this concept is. Do you believe God wants to laugh too? When He speaks He wants to speak only loving words. It is so lonely for Christian churches to teach that God is so high, man should leave Him alone. They say that He does not need us. How much better is Father's teaching that we need God, God needs us and that we can all come together and rejoice.

Billy Graham can speak in big halls and convert many people to God but would God prefer to be with us? He wants to be where people understand that He is a lonely God. Father wants to solve that. Father even wants to become a match maker for God! Do you think that is good or bad?

We want an intense and lasting relationship with God. Some force must pull that. Where does it come from? Not from God or man alone, but the power of love is itself so powerful. When true love says, "Here I am, go out and do something important (maybe even die!) and I will come to you." Would you even be willing to die? You have not even met the reality of true love and still you say yes. This same thing would apply to God.

We must understand that this is not just one of Father's many sermons this morning. This moment is only possible at this culmination of human history. Reverend Moon came, found it and established this truth on the face of the earth. No one greater will ever come after. This man, Reverend Moon is super historical. Father is here saying these things now. In 10,000 years the best that any man can do is confirm what Father said May 1st, 1989. They will not be able to say anything more than what Father has already given us. This is the first and only time in all 6000 years of history that these truths can be spoken. This is the revealing of God. Even before the creation of the universe this concept was already here.

There has been so much work for restoration up until now, but from now is the time for result. God can laugh and go forward with Father. God finally has an object of love! You can pray in private and double check this! Our offspring and all people need to know this. Do your eyes smile by themselves? No, they only smile in harmony with the rest of your laughing face. By the same token, if man laughs God can laugh too.

In conclusion, we have the definition of an ideal man. He might be harmonized within himself and with his wife, but he must become harmonious with the vertical relationship and seek a higher ideal. Then he is an ideal man.

Who is the ideal, original man? Original man means creator. Would God feel bad if you called Him the original man? No.

So the original man is the one who keeps a vertical relationship--only one line never two lines--only one line with God. Ninety degrees from that is the position for the original couple. Ideal man is the one who is consistent with the original ideal. What is that ideal? True love. Ideal man and woman are those who become perfectly harmonized with their spouse and focus on God's desire. Only love can take a couple to this kind of high position.

God's love includes individual love, family love, tribe love, country love, etc. From the highest point of reaching God's love, combine all these levels into one and make love relate to the world. From there we find liberation for all people and things. Everywhere we go we are free. This is the only place to be truly free. Everything up to this point is in the indirect dominion.

The ideal couple is made of those men and women who try to resemble God on the individual level. When that is done they go on and try to follow the way God would exist on the family level. On and on they go to each higher level. You cannot do this individually but only by couple.

Why is the family so important? Because when they come into unity and attain these levels, it is still vertical. This vertical attitude always exists within the family, it does not change.

If you have true love, all things come connected to it.

[Father draws a diagram showing how the shapes of men and women can overlap to form a perfect rectangular shape.] When man and woman are perfectly overlapped it creates four corners. When man and woman are in perfect union they can drown in perfect love. This same concept exists with man and God too, not just man and woman. God also has dual characteristics. If you could somehow stand back to get a view of the universe, you would see it has the shape of man and woman overlapped. When viewed from the right the universe looks like a man, from the left it looks like a woman. From the top, a man and from the bottom, a woman. All the universe is made up of plus and minus. What is it destined to be? To become one. All things exist for the sake of love. When plus and minus come together they explode, then return to nothing, come together and explode again.

There was never a teaching or religion that could educate people with this consistent, original explanation.

How should we look at men and women? First notice the eyes, are they in a straight horizontal line? The nose should be straight and vertical and the mouth should be straight and balanced. Nothing should be lopsided. A person should walk straight. Even the nipples should be in a straight line. With all this in mind you can walk harmonized. Father sees that this is a healthy person. They are spiritually healthy too, their conscience is straight. Women seek to do shopping, she is supposed to. Women take care of all the details. If the men went shopping they would be thinking, "We don't need this". Man is thinking of the ideal, the future of the offspring, he does not care about shopping. Father realizes we need both. Which is subject though? [The ideal.] Women have to bow down to men because of this.

There is even a correct order in the way we say some words. Sometimes English is mixed up, but these things seem to be correct in English too. We say "heaven and earth", not "earth and heaven". It should be "father and mother", "son and daughter" instead of the other way around.

Look at the shoes you use for walking. The heel of the shoe is a good indicator of conscience. If you walk straight your conscience is straight. Father notices and uses all these secret things during the time of matching.

So on to Father's main topic now. In thirty five years the Unification Church has risen from nothing to where we are today with influence in all different areas. The first house we had was so small, but it had a huge sign board announcing the name HSA-UWC. People coming to visit did not know what to make of it. The sign announced something so glorious, but when they looked at the tiny house there seemed to be a contradiction.

God saw this and said the house was too small, so then he gave us Belvedere. So now, Father thinks even the New Yorker is not big enough. Maybe the White House might be big enough for this sign board to be hung on it. Father's remaining task is to find the largest building with the largest billboard in the universe!

One day Father will build a huge house with a sign that announces HSA-UWC. All cultures and religions will take part in building this huge sign.

Who is greater, Reverend Moon or President Bush? [Reverend Moon!] Why? Reverend Moon is not replaceable, no one can take his place. The president changes every four years so he cannot be that great.

Senators and Congressmen have had meetings recently. They say that no one has done more for America than Reverend Moon. They say that he is a true patriot for America. Father says "No, I am not American, I am a foreigner." Foreigner sounds like "forever runner"--he will not stay here. But still they ask him to stay here. Now they are saying these things. They are asking him to please lead the American people.

China and Russia are competing to grasp Reverend Moon first. It's true! We never know what Father is doing. China is already welded to Father. Chinese leaders are saying "Without Reverend Moon, China has no way to continue."

Soon the United States will have a hard time to catch up with Russia. Politicians here have to do so much work to get people to unite while Gorbachev only has to push one button. Russia needs a real religion and true idea. They do not want the kind of religion that they see creating division throughout the rest of the world. They know Reverend Moon is the solution. Russia has witnessed the entire free world coming against Reverend Moon. They see he has been hit everywhere but he never falls down. They see he is only climbing higher and higher. God thinks about that.

One day Father will go up and occupy the throne of God. After all these millions of years God will be able to come down to earth. Do you think that is good? Father will look down at God working and feel so proud and happy and will encourage Him. Father has had this goal for a long time he wants to liberate God stuck in this lonely place.

Once the biggest building is built the "foundation" aspect of Father's work will be complete. The only thing remaining then is liberation. The only entity to liberate God, Father, Mother and Unification Church members is true love. True love can liberate all levels.

Our goal must be clear. We want to occupy, own and practice true love. Everything else will come as an accessory.

If there is a black couple blessed by Father and he wants to visit, would they refuse him? Would he have to call first to ask permission to come? How about a white couple?

We are going to the true love place. We will become true love owners. It is the most precious place.

When Father thinks of this thirty fifth anniversary, he thinks back to when he was thirty five years old and he was in prison. For what purpose was he there? To liberate God. Now thirty five years later, he sees it happening. He can forgive and forget all the times in prison.

Now Father is being welcomed more than any other religious leader. During these thirty five years everyone opposed him, his parents, his own nation, even spirit world sometimes came against him. They not only opposed him but tried to stop him by force. But he was undaunted and with love he digested everything. Now he has True Family, a true tribe, true believers and has support with people going the same way. Father is not alone now. Many powerful people are coming along.

Father will wage a big offensive.

Korea, China, Japan and the United States are all looking towards Father. The only weapon Father has is true love, he has no guns. The only way to subjugate Satan's world is true love. That is the last banner to go up. Then everything is done. It is the only bridge remaining. The tribal messiah has this privilege. You can gain the true love messiahship which Jesus and Adam wanted to fulfill, and which God wants to see happen. Tribal messiahship is the beginning of the last big push.

Adam and Jesus could not get married (Adam was not married in the true sense). How about you, have you been blessed? [Yes!] That is not an easy yes. How much pain and suffering, bought with blood was paid to save your couple.

From the time of the blessing you can gain restoration.

Your ancestors believe in you, love you and want to follow you dedicating everything. The messiah is this absolute center. That is the responsibility of messiahship. The blessed couples I have sent out as Tribal Messiahs stand in Father's place. Father is standing like God's family on the earth. We start now on the horizontal way spreading out to the four corners of the world. 21,000 couples are mobilized.

This is so different from Jesus' time. The world is welcoming you. Messiahship means parentship. Until 1988 we were in the time of brotherhood. 1989 is now the time for parents. You are going up a step to the parent's position which is that of tribal messiahship. Since May 1st we are declaring and welcoming that time.

Think about the honorable position you are in. Think about it. Father has done everything. Everyone will welcome you. Do not be a straggler.

From now on we have parentship. It is so important to understand. People you meet will compare you to their brother, their parents, and they will look at your lifestyle compared to theirs. Taking parentship is the only way to save your country and save the world from Satan. Satan's world has been a world under bad parents. By your becoming parents you can plant new blood in your tribe.

You must know that no matter what kind of difficulty you have you cannot escape this place. Whether it is persecution or a difficult situation. You cannot sleep, cannot play or lose time. We need to create an atmosphere in all four corners of the world so our families can recognize that Father is a great and righteous man.

A few days ago the leaders of the 280 tribes of Korea [not Unification Church members] met with Father. Some of them were very proud. Father let them have it. Even if they are famous, they must know the truth. They humbled themselves and by the time they left they became like children. They are still proud to be Korean, but it is because Father came from that country.

In years past Satan followed me everywhere accusing me. Now that time has passed away.

Your first job is tribal messiahship. Your job at the New Yorker or wherever you work is your second or third job.

If you know the truth then you have to take action. You can tell it to your tribe.

We never asked for this blessing. We never knew about it. No one ever asked Father, "Please let me be a messiah". But he is teaching this to us from now.

Parentship is the last revelation. There is no time for fighting now we are too busy.

Today we greet the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Unification Church. What is our situation? Is the Unification Church or is Reverend Sun Myung Moon better known to the world. (Father!) But my fame is mixed. Some say, "Oh Rev. Moon is the greatest," while others say, "No, he is bad." However, from now on, the number of those who have a positive view of me will begin to increase very quickly. The more people get interested, the more people will study about me--what I stand for, what I have done, what I am teaching. When you study, you deepen your understanding; so naturally it becomes obvious that those who study and understand the deep will and purpose behind the founding of the Unification Church will support me more. In the future, more influential people, those who are experienced in world affairs and are the heads of the organizations, especially will be paying greater attention to me.

So far you've been following me and my guidance. But when I go to the spirit world eventually, where will you look for your guidance? How many more years will the Unification Church continue? Have you stopped to think about that? What will we and what will the world become one thousand years from now? For the next 1,000 years we may do very well, but at the 1,000-year point, we should stop again and evaluate where we should go. The whole direction may have to be changed.

For example, Christianity was founded 2,000 years ago and continued very strongly through the past 2,000 years. But today we see that it is declining, losing its spirit; people are no longer believing the way they used to, and are confused. Looking even thousands of years ahead, what about the Unification Church? How long will it prosper? What if it does not continue?

All religions started out with a strong founding spirit and influenced many people; but thousands of years later, the spirit may decline and confusion increase. A religion founded centering on a human originator will develop--or lose power--along with him. But if the originator is God Himself, then that religion must go on, transcending and digesting all changing situations, to prosper and reach its goal. If this religion begins from God, it must be necessary not only to God but to everyone who desires to live with God. What is it that God seeks for eternity, not just for 1,000 or 2,000 years, but continuously because He cannot do without it? True love.

We see that the natural world has been perpetuating itself generation after generation. What is that law or principle that enables nature to continue? As long as there are a male and female that come together to unite, a generation might perish, but a new generation takes its place, continuing throughout history. Even though the degree or dimension of the uniting force, or love, may be different--human love may be high whereas the love expressed by plants may be less--one common denominator of all things is this attracting force between male and female. Through this love all things continue and multiply, leaving a new generation year after year without stopping.

Animals perfectly conform to this pattern with its concept of love and reproduction of offspring. In the animal kingdom the offspring have only one set of parents. But for humans the order is greatly confused now. In one home there can be 2, 3, 4 different parents because of divorce and remarriage. This can be devastating for a child. It is the original lawful family pattern that God loves and wants to propagate.

Love is the only thing that God desires. What God wants and man wants cannot be two different things--they have to be the same. The love expressed in nature is a type of horizontal love, and it has continued lawfully year after year for millions of years. But human beings as the children of God must choose to make the vertical dimension of love consistent with God's desire and the ideal with which He founded the human race. We can never go against that; it is the only way to prosper. For God, it is very, very clear that this correct vertical tradition is absolutely good and necessary. But how many humans, who now number in the billions, understand and live according to God's original concept and desire? That is a significant question.

Since they are relative, horizontal existence is possible only if there is also vertical existence. Similarly, without the right, the left doesn't exist. When we say man, automatically we have woman in mind as well. Many people may have thought they loved their spouse, but has any man or woman ever loved their spouse with the idea that they must also maintain a perfect horizontal relationship? And yet we do have to be perfectly horizontal relative to our vertical relationship with God. This is a law! But nobody knew it because they did not have a concept of being vertical.

Everyone wants to live a righteous, good life. There may be a wonderful relationship between husband and wife, but it may not necessarily be absolutely horizontal. Maybe they are very harmonious but they diverge 30 degrees from the horizontal. If you want to make an ideal horizontal husband/wife relationship, then you must have this vertical relationship with God in mind before you can start thinking about being ideal. So either man or woman has to think about the perfect vertical relationship first; then he or she will start thinking about the perfect horizontal relationship. Before subject and object can become one horizontally, we have to first maintain a perfect relationship vertically.

Do you have a vision of what you want to be? Today I could have chosen to talk about the highlights of our accomplishments over the past 35 years; so much change has come about on the face of the earth. Yet, I thought, "We, the Unification Church, has to continue forever and ever. To do this, the Principle takes on so much importance that we can never emphasize it enough." We must consider the most fundamental question: "What does God want us to be? What is God's ideal?"

Man wants to maintain a harmonious relationship within himself and also become one with the nation, world, and ultimately the universe so he can elevate his position in that universe. Even within each person there is a masculine part and a feminine part. There is a fleshly man and a man of mind within ourselves. In an ideal person, the mind is subject and the body is the object that always follows the mind harmoniously. However, a man might be very harmonious within himself and very harmonious with his wife, but only as that horizontal relationship becomes harmonized with the vertical relationship and seeks a higher ideal, becoming more and more perfect, does he become an ideal man.

Who is the model or prototype of an ideal person? Modeled after true love, True Parents came into being. Which is first: True Parents or true love? (True love!) God or true love? (True love!) When God began, His ideal was to have an object with whom to have a relationship of true love. Without an object, the ideal of true love cannot actually exist.

Who is the original ideal man? What if we say to God, "God, you are the original man"? Would God say, "What do you mean, I am a man?" Would He feel good or bad? Good! Original man means creator. So the original man is God, the one with whom the vertical relationship must be maintained.

Man wants to respect and adore something that is loftier than he. Since nothing in man originates by itself, God must also have such a desire. Is there something that even God can respect or worship, saying, "That is really, really nice"? This is a very important point. The answer is "Yes, there is!" Even God has to cherish the true love object. God must be really smiling as He looks down on us, hearing this conversation.

People say, "I respect God so much. I really wish I were God. He has been there for millions of years, and no one is more powerful or knowing than He. I envy Him." In fact, we have been understanding God that way, haven't we?

What if God says, "Okay, now we can switch our positions. You come and sit in my place for millions of years, all by yourself as I have been. There is no object with me, so you live all by yourself. There are tons of gold and diamonds here. You can do anything to anyone, so you come and live in my place." Then will you say, "Yes, God, I will"? (No!)

Is God a happy God or a lonely God? (Lonely!) He has many objects, but no true love object. Then we ask, "What is that true love object?" Maybe you think it is a gorilla or monkey since evolutionists say they are our ancestors, and you feel respect for ancestors. Actually, evolution is a concept that will perish very soon.

The conclusion is that it is not a monkey that God wishes to have forever and ever. God's true love object needs a lot of ornaments and accessories: animals, plants, and minerals. These true love objects have a lot of desires; you want to be rich, beautiful, powerful. You want to be everything, don't you? This is just the way it was intended to be--there is nothing wrong. God created His object with the desire to offer love to Him. Before man can offer love to God, he feels he must gain a lot of belongings. He has to hunt a lot of animals, gather a lot of crops, mine a lot of precious stones, and then with love bring them all to God and say, "God I dedicate this to you, and I want to establish a relationship of love with you." But God intended all these "accessories" for His beloved objects. He says, "My perfect object, please love all things like I love them and dedicate them to me."

God intended for all beings to love each other. This is the only solution to the entire universe. Your mind says, "Yes, this is right." Some religions teach that all desires are bad. I am teaching you that you are justified in having many desires, but they should be centered around the goal of being the perfect object to God. This is truly an exciting and profound understanding.

We must love our parents, our children, our friends and neighbors, and all the population of the world. Beyond that, we must love the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. We bring them together and then go to God. How consistent this is! This is the way God intended man to be. You ask God, "You made everything for me, didn't You?" Then God says, "Yes, I intended that for you."

Do you believe that God wants to laugh? Yes! Any kind of laugh that you imagine, God wants to laugh that kind of laugh. Do you think that God has a mouth, nose, ears, and body? Does He look the way we do? He has everything, doesn't He? When He speaks, He only desires to speak well and lovingly. How lonely it is for God that many Christian churches teach mankind that He is so high, we shouldn't bother Him.

We are here to become a perfect object to God, to really make Him happy by dedicating our love to Him. For just as much as we need love, God needs love. If we give Him love, then everybody will rejoice together. This is the purpose of our life.

Once we get connected with God, we want it to be a lasting, intense relationship. It has to go on forever and ever. Where does that force come from? It doesn't come from God alone, nor from man. This must be the power of true love itself. True love is so powerful that both God and man will be bound by it. True love is so important that you will agree to try to do any impossible thing to attain it. God also will do anything.

Everything is attached to the line of true love. We can conclude that all things, including animals, can be dominated through true love. All you need is true love, and everything is connected to that. When man and woman are perfectly united, are they or are they not encompassed by love? Completely drowned in love --yes or no?

The same concept of relationship between man and woman exists between God and humans. God has dual characteristics, doesn't He? So the entire universe, if someone could see all of it, must have the shape of man and woman overlapped. When viewed from the right side the universe looks like a man, and when seen from the !eft side, it looks like a woman. When you view it from the top, it looks like a man; while from the bottom it looks like a woman. So all existence is divided into plus and minus. What is their destiny? To become one. Plus and minus energies are to unite with a thunderous explosion, then dissipate, then gather and unite again. All things exist for the sake of love. When love is consummated, they return to nothing, but then form again to resume the cycle. There never was any other teaching or religion on earth that could explain everything in this organized, consistent manner.

You must understand that this sermon is possible because we are at the moment of the culmination of human history. Never before was there a time like this. A shortcoming of religion has been that it always dwelt with conceptual things and stopped there. But here in the Unification Church, we know that we are now at that historical crossing point when the ideal must become reality.

Once a person joins the Unification Church, they graft onto and develop a relationship with True Parents and their shallow root starts growing. Then there is no other place for that person to live. Even if they leave the Unification Church, they cannot forget it because it's their root. Their minds can wander around, but they have a lot of remorse because they know this is where they have to be.

I am talking to you now on the foundation of having discovered this eternal truth. You may think that after I go to the spirit world, some other person might come with a different or greater conclusion. No! This is super-historical. Even 10,000 years from now, someone may come only to confirm the statement that I made today, May 1, 1989. Even before God created the whole universe, this concept existed.

So at this end of days, we return to the same concept as God had millions of years ago before He began creating the universe. Now, at last, God can return to the original, native land along with True Parents, rejoicing with laughter and happiness. At this time of the fulfillment of creation, finally God is happy because He has an object of love.

How do I look at a person? First I notice that his eyes are very horizontal. Then I go to the nose, which is vertical. The heels of one's shoes are a good indicator for the conscience. If a man walks straight, his conscience is more straight. We should walk straight, perpendicular to the ground. This indicates a healthy person. After a while you can start noticing all things harmonizing at 90 degree angles.

Observation of many fine points enable me to do matchmaking. There are so many things I look at so I can tell the character of a person very quickly. Looking at the many different places where laughter originates from--the diaphragm, mouth, etc.--also helps me to see the person's character.

Women do a lot of shopping: "We need this, we need that...." The man would say, "No, we don't need any of this." He is more seeking the right ideal--thinking about the future of their family--and couldn't care less about shopping. Obviously we need both qualities. But first we have to pay attention to the ideal; therefore the conclusion is that women have to submit to the men who are thinking about the ideal.

Within 35 years, from a really humble place, almost from nothing, we have risen up to where we are today, with much influence in all different areas. We had a typical Korean hut, a small house, but our signboard that said "Unification Church," was huge. So a person who came to visit would read the signboard, like what it said, then look at the small house and not know what to think. But God saw this and said, "Well, that is a real nice signboard, but the house is too small." So we got Belvedere and the New Yorker after that! But even the New Yorker is not good enough. My remaining task is to find the building with the world's largest billboard.

Look at the Korean characters for "Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity." It looks like a house. "Ke" means the entire universe, and the character looks like the entire universe. "Tong-il ton" means coming into unity; "il" means one. This Korean character is the Chinese word for Christianity. "Ke ton" means Christian. The Koreans will be responsible for the first letter ("Segae"). The "Ke" will be built by Japanese church. "Kidoko" will be built by the Christian culture or all the European countries. The Unification Church members will build "Tong-il," and "shi young yo pe," these last four words, will be built by all the rest of the religions in the universe. They will come and take part in the construction of "Segae Ke Kidoko Shi Young Yo Pe."

There is no way an intelligent person can dismiss the Unification Church. We all need a good religion and ideology, especially the third world countries. Everybody knows that communism is not working. The USSR saw how the free world came against me, a single man. I was hit from everywhere, but I didn't fall down. Instead, I strongly stood up. Now the hope of this world is on Rev. Moon. The only hope in the spiritual world is Rev. Moon. God sees me and says, "That Rev. Moon is turning the cart upside down. How wonderful!" That means that God has hope that the world will become different.

Today we celebrate our founding anniversary--that part has been fulfilled. But no matter how well you are doing, your destiny is more important than anything else. Now the only thing remaining is the final liberation. The only power that can liberate God, True Parents, and the Unification Church members is true love. Our goal must be very, very clear to you: The only thing we want is to own and practice true love. This is the only concern we have; everything else will come. Isn't this the great, real purpose of the Unification Church? Final liberation will be realized only through true love.

Compare God's situation with your own; how tedious is it for God to stay in the highest place for such a long, long time? God must feel, "I have been here so long, I want to exchange places with someone." Since I knew that He was so lonely that He almost wanted to jump out of there, I wanted to liberate God.

What kind of power do I have? True love power. Anywhere you go, there is a place that waits for and honors true love. This is the most precious power.

I went to prison when I was 35 years of age. On this 35th anniversary I concluded, "I went to prison so that now, 35 years later after prison and so many difficulties, liberation is being accomplished. I can be happy and rejoice, forgiving all the past, and yet persevering to accomplish my goal of final liberation."

Thirty five years after our founding, the amazing fact is that I am beginning to receive a welcome that no other religious leader in the history of the earth has ever received. [During this 35 years, everyone opposed me--my parents, my children, the Korean people, the American people--even the spirit world in a way opposed me! They not only opposed by speaking against me, but also tried to stop me through force and violence. But no matter what they did, I was undaunted. I knew what kind of solution God needed. So I digested everything, returning love for violence. Now through the True Family, true tribe, and true believers surrounding me, I receive a lot of support and many people are going in the same direction as I. After 35 years, I am not alone: There are many powerful people who are beginning to understand and ally themselves with me. It's a really amazing point in history.

The Korean people were not so about me before, but now when I do something they will all say, "Yes, I support you. That is the only way to fight against Kim Il Sung." In Japan, Indo-China, and in America too, the people and the governments begin to see, "Rev. Moon has the only way to achieve the goal." Now I am in the position to implement things that we have been working for during the past 35 years. That is a great historical accomplishment!

My only weapon is true love. But true love is mighty. Following the path of true love ultimately gives freedom. You are clever people for following that path! Not many in the world truly know this, but true love is the only kind of armament that can win over all the power in Satan's world. Eventually all the world will say: "True love, lovely true love," and everything will be done. Once we cross the bridge between heaven and earth, there is liberation.

This is the end of one enormous historical push. The whole Christian world wanted to see the True Family finally appear on the earth. Did Adam and Eve marry centering on God? (No! ) What about Jesus? (No!) What about us? (Yes!) The ability to answer that way didn't come cheaply. You do not know the extent of historical difficulty that was exacted in payment for the Blessing. You have to realize how much martyrs' blood was shed to enable your couple to be saved. Do you understand?

Centering on true love, I came into this world and established the restoration system that recreated couples. After your Blessing you are resurrecting yourselves. How proud God is of our blessed families!

Until now, God didn't have that familyship, that object for loving. But this time is different. True Parents' family is like God's family on the earth. I sent out a message about God's situation through the blessed couples who are to be tribal messiahs, representing God and True Parents. The messiahship of true love that Jesus wanted to fulfill, that Adam wanted to achieve, and that God wants to see happen--now we are on the threshold of making it a success.

With the fall, true parentship was lost and also true brotherhood. Up to the year 1988 we were in a restoration course to establish the way of true brotherhood, restoring power between rival brothers, Cain and Abel, elder and younger. Now we must take the false parentship away from Satan and eliminate Satan's family system completely. From 1989 our course is toward messiahship, which means true parentship. Satan's push for power began when he planted bad blood. True, real parentship will plant a new blood lineage in your tribal descendants, generation after generation. It is a completely different time, with a new tradition and providential position. You have moved up a step to the position of parentship. Until this time brothers everywhere have been fighting. Now you are taking parents' love to the world, and can enable brothers to embrace.

Messiahship is parentship! Fallen people are your children. You must look at them from the parent position. People will compare their lifestyle, everything, with you and see that yours is best. One by one, please welcome them; if they can find that everything has precious value, automatically they will follow you.

If parents are restored, that means heaven will always be on earth. How much all our ancestors longed to see this day. But no matter how many times they yearned to experience a true parent's heart, they could not. Now, in your age, there is so much happiness. Now your ancestors want to come down to this world to see their famous descendants. They have waited tediously for a long time. You ancestors believe in you! They love you and want to honor you. They will follow everything. They want to dedicate everything to the fulfillment of your tribal messiahship.

The tribal messiah has the privilege of ownership of true love. I gave it to you. Tribal messiahship is the absolute central concept now. This is not the time to have a discussion. We just have to do it.

What a great honor to be able to stand next to True Parents as a tribal messiah blessed couple. How precious is it to be able to spend time with True Parents! I am known all over the world and humankind will ultimately be liberated. How wonderful a time we are in! How can anyone living on the earth not follow us in such an important period of history?! How well are you using this precious time, especially now? You have to be working in messiahship activities each day until final liberation is accomplished.

From now on it will be a different world. Both the free and the communist worlds are beginning to welcome us. That's like the coming of spring time. At Jesus' time all the world was against him, but now I have cleaned up everything so that in starting out, you will be welcomed by 70 percent more of the people of the world. It is like the time before the fall of our human ancestors. The atmosphere of persecution is diminishing, and people are becoming proud to have Unificationists among them.

Until now, persecution made it difficult and forced us to go a very hard way. Was it easy to change the situation in America? You didn't know when I first came to this country 15 years ago that America was in danger of perishing in the near future. A few Americans wondered how I was going to save America when I didn't even know its cultural background. Bad rumors started all over the nation; "Rev. Moon, go back home. You are creating too much disturbance." They did everything to me--even putting me in jail. . But now we see that during those 15 years, I prepared a foundation. I made this foundation by taking this course my entire life. It did not come cheaply. This achievement was very expensive and is the most precious and valuable accomplishment in all of human history. How proud you should be that you can receive the tribal messiahship/true parentship for the first time! This is an historical declaration!

Through tribal messiahs I am taking the messiahship proudly all over the earth, bringing liberation throughout the world! Satan followed me as I went into every area. Now I have brought the way of parentship, the time of heaven descending on the earth. Satan cannot prevail against that kind of true parentship and will have to bow down.

From now on, people will know clearly that this is a precious way. We have awakened, and now we are running. This is my job and your job--the job of messiah members.

With tribal messiahship, you will find a lot of power. Until now people skeptically wondered: "How can they restore the world by teaching the Principle?" But now we can see the world is becoming entirely different. As you take that parentship, then you can stand strongly in front of Satan, and God can bring judgment. I made this foundation for victory and reported it to God. No one can accuse or come against me. From here we are free. This is the last revelation centering on true love. Will you follow this tribal messiahship completely? (Yes!)

I have said this many times so seriously: Go back home and fulfill your messiahship. You might say, "I am working at the New Yorker" or some other job, but that is your second or third job. Your first job is messiahship! Do you want to lose the parentship? No! If parentship is lost, there will only be slavery! Without assuming the responsibility of parentship, you will become a slave to Satan. You will be the tribe and slaves of Satan. You must understand clearly for the sake of your ancestors, relatives, neighborhood, and the future. Do you know this viewpoint clearly by heart, especially the blessed families? To know means we have to take action! You can do it? (Yes!)

Please gather your relatives in one place and talk about the Principle with tears. "I once had to go against you, but now that you understand Rev. Moon is a great and righteous man, recognized as such in the four corners of the world, you can follow me." "Yes, yes, certainly I will follow you. Teach me the Principle." Then one by one, or all at once, they will come.

If your relative says, "I don't believe in this tribal messiahship," then you must convince him completely. Can you enable people to understand the Principle everywhere? With such understanding, the crime problem can be controlled. Now we are teaching the Principle to many American leaders and they are eager to visit with me.

A few days ago, many Korean tribe leaders visited me. They were from tribes representing all of Korea. They represent a very proud people, and they are proud of the fact that I was born in Korea! Forty years ago when they were against me, I knew that the way of tribal messiahship was coming and that persecution would end. During that time, I did everything to overcome their dislike. That is the parent's loving heart.

We should infiltrate like good germs, multiplying our influence everywhere. You should take three or four days of time on a national television network to describe everything completely. If the American people were to hear such a program, how many would totally change their way of life? About 70 percent in one day, no problem!

The day will come when May 1, 1989, will be commemorated throughout the world. This day we received messiahship! Did you ask, "Father, please give messiahship to me?" I didn't hear anyone ask. Though I taught this precisely, you haven't understood. You thought it was just a big chunk of glass, then finally you recognized, "Oh, that is a most precious diamond."

Messiahship! Repeat it. Messiahship! This is the concept that the people in the fallen world desire. Only if we restore parentship can anyone have hope or freedom! Real freedom is only in parentship.

Therefore, your mission is very clear. As tribal members, you are to establish the mainstream of God's lineage for your ancestors and generations to come. That means your tribe is to be the savior of the country and culture. No matter how difficult it is, you cannot escape this position. Like me, you must think, "No matter how difficult the situation or how much I am persecuted, I cannot escape. I must continue to stay on the front line. I cannot sleep, play, or lose time." This is no problem once you understand the Principle clearly. Are you going my way? Think, "Father, how can we help you?" Ahhhh. I don't like talking in English!

Those who feel, "Yes, I will now go forward from here with this great blessing and privilege," stand up and pledge with both hands raised. Will we do it or not? (Yes!) Thank you, God.

Today we greet the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Unification Church. What is our situation? Is the Unification Church or is Reverend Sun Myung Moon better known to the world. (Father!) But my fame is mixed. Some say, "Oh Rev. Moon is the greatest," while others say, "No, he is bad." However, from now on, the number of those who have a positive view of me will begin to increase very quickly. The more people get interested, the more people will study about me -- what I stand for, whit I have done, what I am teaching. When you study, you deepen your understanding; so naturally it becomes obvious that those who study and understand the deep will and purpose behind the founding of the Unification Church will support me more. In the future, more influential people, especially those who are experienced in world affairs and are the heads of the organizations, will be paying greater attention to me.

So far you've been following me and my guidance. But when I go to the spirit world eventually, where will you look for your guidance? How many more years will the Unification Church continue? Have you stopped to think about that? What will we and what will the world become one thousand years from now? For the next 1,000 years we may do very well, but at the 1,000-year point, we should stop again and evaluate where we should go. The whole direction may have to be changed.

For example, Christianity was founded 2,000 years ago and continued very strongly through the past 2,000 years. But today we see that it is declining, losing its spirit; people are no longer believing the way they used to, and are confused. Looking even thousands of years ahead, what about the Unification Church? How long will it prosper? What if it does not continue?

God Must Be the Originator

All religions started out with a strong founding spirit and influenced many people; but thousands of years later, the spirit may decline and confusion increase. A religion founded centering on a human originator will develop -- or lose power -- along with him. But if the originator is God Himself, then that religion must go on, transcending and digesting all changing situations, to prosper and reach its goal. If this religion begins from God, it must be necessary not only to God but to everyone who desires to live with God. What is it that God seeks for eternity, not just for 1,000 or 2,000 years, but continuously because He cannot do without it? True love.

We see that the natural world has been perpetuating itself generation after generation. What is that law or principle that enables nature to continue? As long as there are a male and female that come together to unite, a generation might perish, but a new generation takes its place, continuing throughout history. Even though the degree or dimension of the uniting force, or love, may be different -- human love may be high whereas the love expressed by plants may be less -- one common denominator of all things is this attracting force between male and female. Through this love all things continue and multiply, leaving a new generation year after year without stopping.

Is Your Vision Aligned With God's Ideal?

In an ideal person, the mind is subject and the body is the object that always follows the mind harmoniously. However, a man might be very harmonious within himself and very harmonious with his wife, but only as that horizontal relationship becomes harmonized with the vertical relationship and seeks a higher ideal, becoming more and more perfect, does he become an ideal man.

Who is the model or prototype of an ideal person? Modeled after true love, True Parents came into being. Which is first: True Parents or true love? (True love!) God or true love? (True love!) When God began, His ideal was to have an object with whom to have a relationship of true love. Without an object, the ideal of true love cannot actually exist.

Who is the original ideal man? What if we say to God, "God, you are the original man"? Would God say, "What do you mean, I am a man?" Would He feel good or bad? Good! Original man means creator. So the original man is God, the one with whom the vertical relationship must be maintained.

Man wants to respect and adore something that is loftier than he. Since nothing in man originates by itself, God must also have such a desire. Is there something that even God can respect or worship, saying, "That is really, really nice"? This is a very important point. The answer is "Yes, there is!" Even God has to cherish the true love object. God must be really smiling as He looks down on us, hearing this conversation.

People say, "I respect God so much. I really wish I were God. He has been there for millions of years, and no one is more powerful or knowing than He. I envy Him." In fact, we have been understanding God that way, haven't we?

What if God says, "Okay, now we can switch our positions. You come and sit in my place for millions of years, all by yourself as I have been. There is no object with me, so you live all by yourself. There are tons of gold and diamonds here. You can do anything to anyone, so you come and live in my place." Then will you say, "Yes, God, I will"? (No!)

God Needs a True Love Object

Is God a happy God or a lonely God? (Lonely!) He has many objects, but no true love object. Then we ask, "What is that true love object?" Maybe you think it is a gorilla or monkey since evolutionists say they are our ancestors, and you feel respect for ancestors. Actually, evolution is a concept that will perish very soon.

The conclusion is that it is not a monkey that God wishes to have forever and ever. God's true love object needs a lot of ornaments and accessories: animals, plants, and minerals. These true love objects have a lot of desires; you want to be rich, beautiful, powerful. You want to be everything, don't you? This is just the way it was intended to be -- there is nothing wrong. God created His object with the desire to offer love to him. Before man can offer love to God, he feels he must gain a lot of belongings. He has to hunt a lot of animals, gather a lot of crops, mine a lot of precious stones, and then with love bring them all to God and say, "God I dedicate this to you, and I want to establish a relationship of love with you." But God intended all these "accessories" for His beloved objects. He says, "My perfect object, please love all things like I love them and dedicate them to me."

God intended for all beings to love each other. This is the only solution to the entire universe. Your mind says, "Yes, this is right." Some religions teach that all desires are bad. I am teaching you that you are justified in having many desires, but they should be centered around the goal of being the perfect object to God. This is truly an exciting and profound understanding.

We must love our parents, our children, our friends and neighbors, and all the population of the world. Beyond that, we must love the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. We bring them together and then go to God. How consistent this is! This is the v, ay God intended man to be. You ask God, "You made everything for me, didn't You?" Then God says, "Yes, I intended that for you."

Do you believe that God wants to laugh? Yes! Any kind of laugh that you imagine, God wants to laugh that kind of laugh. Do you think that God has a mouth, nose, ears, and body? Does He look the way we do? He has everything, doesn't He? When He speaks, He only desires to speak well and lovingly. How lonely it is for God that many Christian churches teach mankind that He is so high, we shouldn't bother Him.

Become One in Love With God

We are here to become a perfect object to God, to really make Him happy by dedicating our love to Him. For just as much as we need love, God needs love. If we give Him love, then everybody will rejoice together. This is the purpose of our life.

Once we get connected with God, we want it to be a lasting, intense relationship. It has to go on forever and ever. Where does that force come from? It doesn't come from God alone, nor from man. This must be the power of true love itself. True love is so powerful that both God and man will be bound by it. True love is so important that you will agree to try to do any impossible thing to attain it. God also will do anything.

Everything is attached to the line of true love. We can conclude that all things, including animals, can be dominated through true love. All you need is true love, and everything is connected to that. When man and woman are perfectly united, are they or are they not encompassed by love? Completely drowned in love -- yes or no?

The same concept of relationship between man and woman exists between God and humans. God has dual characteristics, doesn't He? So the entire universe, if someone could see all of it, must have the shape of man and woman overlapped. When viewed from the right side the universe looks like a man, and when seen from the left side, it looks like a woman. When you view it from the top, it looks like a man; while from the bottom it looks like a woman. So all existence is divided into plus and minus. What is their destiny? To become one. Plus and minus energies are to unite with a thunderous explosion, then dissipate, then gather and unite again. All things exist for the sake of love. When love is consummated, they return to nothing, but then form again to resume the cycle. There never was any other teaching or religion on earth that could explain everything in this organized, consistent manner.

You must understand that this sermon is possible because we are at the moment of the culmination of human history. Never before was there a time like this. A shortcoming of religion has been that it always dealt with conceptual things and stopped there. But here in the Unification Church, we know that we are now at that historical crossing point when the ideal must become reality.

True Parents Are Your Root

Once a person joins the Unification Church, they graft onto and develop a relationship with True Parents and their shallow root starts growing. Then there is no other place for that person to live. Even if they leave the Unification Church, they cannot forget it because it's their root. Their minds can wander around, but they have a lot of remorse because they know this is where they have to be.

I am talking to you now on the foundation of having discovered this eternal truth. You may think that after I go to the spirit world, some other person might come with a different or greater conclusion. No! This is super-historical. Even 10,000 years from now, someone may come only to confirm the statement that I made today, May 1, 1989. Even before God created the whole universe, this concept existed.

So at this end of days, we return to the same concept as God had millions of years ago before He began creating the universe. Now, at last, God can return to the original, native land along with True Parents, rejoicing with laughter and happiness. At this time of the fulfillment of creation, finally God is happy because He has an object of love.

How do I look at a person? First I notice that his eyes are very horizontal. Then I go to the nose, which is, vertical. The heels of one's shoes are a good indicator for the conscience. If a man walks straight, his conscience is more straight. We should walk straight, perpendicular to the ground. This indicates a healthy person. After a while you can start noticing all things harmonizing at 90 degree angles.

Observation of many fine points enable me to do matchmaking. There are so many things I look at so I can tell the character of a person very quickly. Looking at the many different places where laughter originates from -- the diaphragm, mouth, etc. -- also helps me to see the person's character.

Women do a lot of shopping: "We need this, we need that...." The man would say, "No, we don't need any of this." He is more seeking the right ideal -- thinking about the future of their family -- and couldn't care less about shopping. Obviously we need both qualities. But first we have to pay attention to the ideal; therefore the conclusion is that women have to submit to the men who are thinking about the ideal.

Within 35 years, from a really humble place, almost from nothing, we have risen up to where we are today, with much influence in all different areas. We had a typical Korean hut, a small house, but our signboard that said "Unification Church," was huge. So a person who came to visit would read the signboard, like what it said, then look at the small house and not know what to think. But God saw this and said, "Well, that is a real nice signboard, but the house is too small." So we got Belvedere and the New Yorker after that! But even the New Yorker is not good enough. My remaining task is to find the building with the world's largest billboard.

The Final Liberation Point

There is no way an intelligent person can dismiss the Unification Church. We all need a good religion and ideology, especially the third world countries. Everybody knows that communism is not working. The USSR saw how the free world came against me, a single man. I was hit from everywhere, but I didn't fall down. Instead, I strongly stood up. Now the hope of this world is on Rev. Moon. The only hope in the spiritual world is Rev. Moon. God sees me and says, "That Rev. Moon is turning the cart upside down. How wonderful!" That means that God has hope that the world will become different.

Today we celebrate our founding anniversary -- that part has been fulfilled. But no matter how well you are doing, your destiny is more important than anything else. Now the only thing remaining is the final liberation. The only power that can liberate God, True Parents, and the Unification Church members is true love. Our goal must be very, very clear to you: The only thing we want is to own and practice true love. This is the only concern we have; everything else will come. Isn't this the great, real purpose of the Unification Church? Final liberation will be realized only through true love.

Compare God's situation with your own; how tedious is it for God to stay in the highest place for such a long, long time? God must feel, "I have been here so Ion•., I want to exchange places with someone." Since I knew that He was so lonely that He almost wanted to jump out of there, I wanted to liberate God.

What kind of power do I have? True love power. Anywhere you go, there is a place that waits for and honors true love. This is the most precious power.

I went to prison when I was 35 years of age. On this 35th anniversary I concluded, "I went to prison so that now, 35 years later after prison and so many difficulties, liberation is being accomplished. I can be happy and rejoice, forgiving all the past, and yet persevering to accomplish my goal of final liberation."

The World Is Welcoming Me

Thirty five years after our founding, the amazing fact is that I am beginning to receive a welcome that no other religious leader in the history of the earth has ever received. During these 35 years, everyone opposed me -- my parents, my children, the Korean people, the American people -- even the spirit world in a way opposed me! They not only opposed by speaking against me, but also tried to stop me through force and violence. But no matter what they did, I was undaunted. I knew what kind of solution God needed. So I digested everything, returning love for violence.

Now through the True Family, true tribe, and true believers surrounding me, I receive a lot of support and many people are going in the same direction as I. After 35 years, I am not alone: There are many powerful people who are beginning to understand and align themselves with me. It's a really amazing point in history.

The Korean people were not so sure about me before, but now when I do something they will all say, "Yes, I support you. That is the only way to fight against Kim Il Sung." In Japan, Indo-China, and in America too, the people and the governments begin to see, "Rev. Moon has the only way to achieve the goal." Now I am in the position to implement things that we have been working for during the past 35 years. That is a great historical accomplishment!

My only weapon is true love. But true love is mighty. Following the path of true love ultimately gives freedom. You are clever people for following that path! Not many in the world truly know this, but true love is the only kind of armament that can win over all the power in Satan's world. Eventually all the world will say: "True love, lovely true love," and everything will be done. Once we cross the bridge between heaven and earth, there is liberation.

This is the end of one enormous historical push. The whole Christian world wanted to see the True Family finally appear on the earth. Did Adam and Eve marry centering on God? (No!) What about Jesus? (No!) What about us? (Yes!) The ability to answer that way didn't come cheaply. You do not know the extent of historical difficulty that was exacted in payment for the Blessing. You have to realize how much martyrs' blood was shed to enable your couple to be saved. Do you understand?

God's True Familyship

Centering on true love, I came into this world and established the restoration system that recreated couples. After your Blessing you are resurrecting yourselves. How proud God is of our blessed families!

Until now, God didn't have that Familyship, that object for loving. But this time is different. True Parents' family is like God's family on the earth. I sent out a message about God's situation through the blessed couples who are to be tribal messiahs, representing God and True Parents. The messiah- ship of true love that Jesus wanted to fulfill, that Adam wanted to achieve, and that God wants to see happen -- now we are on the threshold of making it a success.

With the Fall, true Parentship was lost and also true brotherhood. Up to the year 1988 we were in a restoration course to establish the way of true brotherhood, restoring power between rival brothers, Cain and Abel, elder and younger. Now we must take the false Parentship away from Satan and eliminate Satan's family system completely. From 1989 our course is toward messiahship, which means true Parentship. Satan's push for power began when he planted bad blood. True, real Parentship will plant a new blood lineage in your tribal descendants, generation after generation. It is a completely different time, with a new tradition and providential position. You have moved up a step to the position of Parentship. Until this time brothers everywhere have been fighting. Now you are taking parents' love to the world, and can enable brothers to embrace.

Messiahship is Parentship! Fallen people are your children. You must look at them from the parent position. People will compare their lifestyle, everything, with you and see that yours is best. One by one, please welcome them; if they can find that everything has precious value, automatically they will follow you.

If parents are restored, that means heaven will always be on earth. How much all our ancestors longed to see this day. But no matter how many times they yearned to experience a true parent's heart, they could not. Now, in your age, there is so much happiness. Now your ancestors want to come down to this world to see their famous descendants. They have waited tediously for a long time. Your ancestors believe in you! They love you and want to honor you. They will follow everything. They want to dedicate everything to the fulfillment of your tribal messiahship.

The Foundation for Tribal Messiahship

The tribal messiah has the privilege of ownership of true love. I gave it to you. Tribal messiahship is the absolute central concept now. This is not the time to have a discussion. We just have to do it.

What a great honor to be able to stand next to True Parents as a tribal messiah blessed couple. How precious is it to be able to spend time with True Parents! I am known all over the world and humankind will ultimately be liberated. How wonderful a time we are in! How can anyone living on the earth not follow us in such an important period of history?! How well are you using this precious time, especially now? You have to be working in messiahship activities each day until final liberation is accomplished.

From now on it will be a different world. Both the free and the communist worlds are beginning to welcome us. That's like the coming of spring time. At Jesus' time all the world was against him, but now I have cleaned up everything so that in starting out, you will be welcomed by 70 percent more of the people of the world. It is like the time before the fall of our human ancestors. The atmosphere of persecution is diminishing, and people are becoming proud to have Unificationists among them.

Until now, persecution made it difficult and forced us to go a very hard way. Was it easy to change the situation in America? You didn't know when I first came to this country 15 years ago that America was in danger of perishing in the near future. A few Americans wondered how I was going to save America when I didn't even know its cultural background. Bad rumors started all over the nation; "Rev. Moon, go back home. You are creating too much disturbance." They did everything to me -- even putting me in jail. But now we see that during those 15 years, I prepared a foundation. I made this foundation by taking this course my entire life. It did not come cheaply. This achievement was very expensive and is the most precious and valuable accomplishment in all of human history. How proud you should be that you can receive the tribal messiahship/true Parentship for the first time! This is an historical declaration!

Through tribal messiahs I am taking the messiahship proudly all over the earth, bringing liberation throughout the world! Satan followed me as I went into every area. Now I have brought the way of Parentship, the time of heaven descending on the earth. Satan cannot prevail against that kind of true Parentship and will have to bow down.

From now on, people will know clearly that this is a precious way. We have awakened, and now we are running. This is my job and your job -- the job of tribal messiah members.

With tribal messiahship, you will find a lot of power. Until now people skeptically wondered: "How can they restore the world by teaching the Principle?" But now we can see the world is becoming entirely different. As you take that parent- ship, then you can stand strongly in front of Satan, and God can bring judgment. I made this foundation for victory and reported it to God. No one can accuse or come against me. From here we are free. This is the last revelation centering on true love. Will you follow this tribal messiahship completely? (Yes!)

Messiahship Means Parentship

I have said this many times so seriously: Go back home and fulfill your messiahship. You might say, "I am working at the New Yorker" or some other job, but that is your second or third job. Your first job is messiahship! Do you want to lose the Parentship? No! If Parentship is lost, there will only be slavery! Without assuming the responsibility of Parentship, you will become a slave to Satan. You will be the tribe and slaves of Satan. You must understand clearly for the sake of your ancestors, relatives, neighborhood, and the future. no you know this viewpoint clearly by heart, especially the blessed families? To know means we have to take action! You can do it? (Yes!)

Please gather your relatives in one place and talk about the Principle with tears. "I once had to against you, but now that you understand Rev. Moon is a great and righteous man, recognized as such in the four corners of the world, you can follow me." "Yes, yes, certainly I will follow you. Teach me the Principle." Then one by one, or all at once, they will come.

If your relative says, "I don't believe in this tribal messiah- ship," then you must convince him completely. Can you enable people to understand the Principle everywhere? With such understanding, the crime problem can be controlled. Now we are teaching the Principle to many American leaders and they are eager to visit with me.

A few days ago, many Korean tribe leaders visited me. They were from tribes representing all of Korea. They represent a very proud people, and they are proud of the fact that I was born in Korea! Forty years ago when they were against me, I knew that the way of tribal messiahship was coming and that persecution would end. During that time, I did everything to overcome their dislike. That is the parent's loving heart.

We should infiltrate like good germs, multiplying our influence everywhere. You should take three or four days of time on a national television network to describe everything completely. If the American people were to hear such a program, how many would totally change their way of life? About 70 percent in one day, no problem!

The day will come when May 1, 1989, will be commemorated throughout the world. This day we received messiahship! Did you ask, "Father, please give messiahship to me?" I didn't hear anyone ask. Though I taught this precisely, you haven't understood. You thought it was just a big chunk of glass, then finally you recognized, "Oh, that is a most precious diamond."

Messiahship! Repeat it. Messiahship! This is the concept that the people in the fallen world desire. Only if we restore Parentship can anyone have hope or freedom! Real freedom is only in Parentship.

Therefore, your mission is very clear. As tribal members, you are to establish the mainstream of God's lineage for your ancestors and generations to come. That means your tribe is to be the savior of the country and culture. No matter how difficult it is, you cannot escape this position. Like me, you must think, "No matter how difficult the situation or how much I am persecuted, I cannot escape. I must continue to stay on the front line. I cannot sleep, play, or lose time." This is no problem once you understand the Principle clearly. Are you going my way? Think, "Father, how can we help you?"

Those who feel, "Yes, I will now go forward from here with this great blessing and privilege," stand up and pledge with both hands raised. Will we do it or not? (Yes!) Thank you, God.
