Our Church And Korea As Seen From The Providence Of God

The history of mankind centered on religions is directed by the providence of God. It cannot be understood from the viewpoint of man alone. History has had a basic direction and has developed in a cyclical way. Just as morning, noon and evening, the time of day and the seasons of the year repeat themselves in a continuous cycle, so there is a pattern in history.

There is a national history of Korea and we have tribal and family histories. On an even smaller level, there is a history of each individual. Trends in philosophy are always the guiding factor in history. In the history of democracy the central nation has been America.

A saint is a person in history who has lived centered on God. The great saints have been people in history who have lived centered on a thought based on God. A nation which would live like that, completely centered on God, would be remembered throughout history.

The democratic world should provide spiritual direction to the world and also lead it politically. But democracy lacks the spiritual, internal element. Thus it has lost its power to be the leader of the world. Humanistic philosophies also lack the vision and strength to lead mankind. Communism basically understands the principle that there needs to be a comprehensive view with social and internal aspects. It tries to replace the spiritual, historical roots of mankind. It has replaced the saints of history with the founders of communism and has replaced the ideal of God with the idea of a communist utopia. But however great a philosophy based on the human mind may be, however, it can never reach the level of truth of a philosophy coming from the mind of God.

How can a religion offer a final eternal place of settlement for the individual, the family, the nation and the world? Religion must even show us a place where God can settle down, where God and man can be together and want to remain eternally. Many religions talk about the last days and the end of history but the question is-to what extent can a religion show us the direction, purpose and the consequence of the last days.

If we want to find the place where we can truly find our position of eternal settlement we must find a relationship which is 100 percent vertical. If we come into such a relationship with God, our understanding of the world becomes absolutely clear. A person who has this vertical standard becomes a person of true morality and true character.

If a man has such a true morality and character he himself represents the relationship between God and man and that represents human history. The vertical direction symbolizes the connection between the deepest root and the highest branches. Harmony in history is centered on that standard. Only when one person has this vertical connection can others unite with him and then create harmony. If the president of a nation is not completely vertical then complete harmony among the people of his nation is not possible.

A person of virtue should give an impression of straightness, not leaning to one side or the other. You become a person of virtue by centering vertically on God. But you also need the horizontal axis, which starts with the family. It comes from the relationship with parents, spouse and children. That is where you get the horizontal direction. If your vertical pipeline is perpendicular it communicates clearly but if it is out of line the communication is distorted.

Is Father a person of virtue? What is the opposite of a person of virtue? Was Father born with his abilities or did he learn them? (Born) No, I learned it.

There are persons of virtue in Germany, Japan, America and other countries. But are they connected to the great vertical axis and the great horizontal axis or are they only limited to one particular place? A true person of virtue has to connect his axis beyond his limits of nationality, race or culture. For example, a western person of virtue has to be able to embrace the east and bridge the gaps between Orient and Occident, the rich north and poor south. He must be able to love not only the people of his own culture and class but also the rest of mankind. A true person of virtue must be able to communicate with scientists, laborers, farmers and fisherman.

Today's topic is our church and unification from the viewpoint of providence. What is the difference about Rev. Moon? He is a strange person.

Many Unification Church members are very self-centered. They want to receive blessings and become great people in a very egoistic way. God has said a person must focus his vertical and horizontal with 90 degrees so that he can find his ideal direction. (Amen) God has to say "Amen!", not you! Your face should ideally represent horizontal and vertical lines. If the lines are leaning to one side your face does not look good. If you look at a person's shoes you can see the character by how they are worn down. A person with the character of a thief leans to one side. His shoes are worn down unevenly. Now I have said that I should check my shoes. (Father holds up his shoe).

The earth turns not at will but on its axis. What is the ideal position? The center, the place where all directions meet. The vertical and horizontal meet in the center.

If a person came to that central position he could move in any direction without changing the focus. How many times would God like to see that? If someone comes to the center God would like to see that person rotate for eternity. That person becomes the standard.

What kind of person would God like most? What kind of person would saints like most? The person God would like to see is not just a scholar, a businessman or a politician, but one who has a character like God. He would like to see a man of virtue who resembles God. Who does God like most? (Father) How do you know I am not a thief, a fake? You must say that the person I am talking about the man of virtue who resembles God-is the one that God likes most.

Does God need God or does God need man? God in Korean is "Hananim" which means "one." Since God is "one" why did he create man as "two"-man and woman? Have you never thought that God failed when God produced the other sex? Wouldn't it have been better if God had created only males? God is alone so he is sort of depressed. The horizontal must be there for the vertical to expand and become circular. On the horizontal level God had to create man and woman so that through their horizontal extension the focus would come to exist in the center. Only through give and take between two can the horizontal expansion take place. That's why God needed male and female. Is God a man or a woman? He can relate to both because he has the characteristics of male and female united within himself. The male and female characters represent the two directions, the male representing the vertical and the female representing the horizontal.

Should male and female unite centered on the man or on the woman? In Korea there's a saying that if the hen crows the house falls down. But we should say that if the hen crows the cock dies.

Today in our world of scientific enlightenment we want explanations for everything. We research all fields wondering about the hows and whys. Even thieves research before they steal. if you asked established church ministers why God created man and woman they would say we must just believe that God did it because it was for the best. But that is not a satisfactory answer. Do you want to become like Father or Mother. If you say Mother, what kind of attitude is that? God created heaven first and then earth, not the other way round! God created man to represent the vertical and woman the horizontal. Why do women not have beards? Because they were made to run around on the horizontal and their beards would get caught up on things. (Audience laughs.) We should say that we want to resemble God which means we should resemble Father and Mother.

There should be only one head in the family, not two, and this is the same in the church. There should be only one head. A person of virtue is one who resembles God. So what is a true son of God? A true son of God is one who is completely united with God centered on love. Centered on true love the horizontal and vertical unity of the world can be established. The history of God was the history of establishing the perfect relationship between God and man where man resembles God, a male that resembles God and a female that resembles God. In God's providence the unity of man and woman represents that point where the vertical and horizontal directions are united. That is the eternal meaning of marriage, where husband and wife come to the center, which is love and the source of life. If they are united in marriage they cannot move around at will. They must be connected to the center of true love and the center of life.

The purpose of the providential history of God is to establish one man and woman as the ancestors of mankind, free from the fall, who can represent the true horizontal direction related to God.

Was Jesus a manly man or was he effeminate? He was, of course, very masculine. Would it have been a sin if Jesus, as a masculine man, wanted to marry a woman, or would that have been unrighteous? God's providence is for a righteous and perfectly masculine man to become one with a perfectly feminine woman. If Adam and Eve had become one, free of the fall and centered on true love, this beautiful relationship would have made the flowers bloom. When the flowers bloom, can the butterflies stay away? Would the birds stay away? No, they would be attracted, too.

When perfect harmony is created, when true love is realized, it is like thunder and lightning and all creation resounds in response to the echo. If you discover true love and nature rejoices, do you feel happy or not? Why don't you answer? (Happy!) That's good!

Why is it much nicer to walk in the rain and snow with your partner than to walk alone? Did you ever walk in the falling snow? When it snowed at night Father never stayed at home. He wanted to walk through the hills and forests to watch the snow fall on the trees. When all the world turns white the impression of the greatness of nature is so acute. Snow is like the unity of heaven and earth, the marriage of plus and minus. When you see marriage you are moved to tears of happiness, of sadness and love. Those of you who are married know what I mean. Some other religions advocate celibacy but in the Unification Church we say that man has to marry. Are there two different Gods, one who says marry and one who says don't marry?

What does the Unification Church mean? It is the unification between true man and true woman. What is true man and true woman? They are persons who resemble God, man who resembles God and woman who resembles God who become sons and daughters of God. God wants to establish such a relationship where he is the vertical parent and man resembling God establishing horizontal parenthood centered on true love. Then if God saw Adam and Eve overcome the fall and become one based on true love would he want to be in a distant vertical relationship or would he rather be very close? Actually he wants to be as close as possible. So "vertical" means the closest possible distance, not great distance. God wants to live in the heart of man and feel and touch the love that exists between husband and wife.

Husband and wife can only achieve perfect unity if the individual never loses sight of the vertical from beginning to end. The horizontal unity can only become perfect centered on the vertical love of God. All give and take has to be centered on the vertical. The relationship does not spark centered on just the wife or husband. But if they are both connected to the vertical then the electricity flows. When they come together it is like a cosmic explosion. Once that kind of unity is established between husband and wife even God cannot separate it. The point of perfect unity becomes the departure point of God's history and the point for all of the universe to come into harmony. Once man and woman are united in true love there cannot be real unhappiness.

A husband and wife represents the east and west, the husband representing the eastern hemisphere and the woman representing the western hemisphere. When they become one it is like the universe uniting. The love of husband and wife becomes the love of parents and that is the most precious thing that exists in the world.

Is it easy or difficult to follow the belief of the Unification Church? Is it easy to come here and listen for two hours to my speech? If you drove two hours you would already be past Taejon (city in central Korea-Ed.) If husband and wife become centered on true love we don't need religion any more. We won't need rules and regulations.

The relationship between husband and wife has to be centered first on the vertical love of God. Otherwise there is no direction for their love and Satan can turn it in any direction he wants. These days love relationships are not centered on the vertical. The world is chaotic and full of sin and suffering. Only the person who connects to the vertical center can remain stable and unshaken. Has Father ever demanded that you believe he is the Lord of the Second Advent? I have never done that. But I know in my heart that all people who are not connecting to that center cannot last. Only the person connected to the vertical center will last forever. History will prove whether Father is connected to the center or not.

Our topic is the Unification Church from the providence of God. We also have the concept of unification in our country. But do we have unification? We have the communist faction, the Kim Dae Jung faction, the Kim Young Sam faction. Can we have unification without true love, without God? It's impossible. If the Unification Church connects to the vertical center based on true love it will be the faction that will endure.

There's some sweat on my face. When it runs down my nose I sometimes want to drink it. Sweat has a nice taste. It's nice and salty. When you have true love you can love your sweat, your snot and even the unpleasant smells of your own body. Those who run away from their own smells, raise your hand. (No response). You must appreciate the aroma of your own body. (Audience in hysterics). If you are centered on the vertical love of God, will you curse God for having created all these bodily functions or would you rather praise God? When I was young I thought that bodily waste should be an object of love. I looked down the toilet and saw the different bits of waste and touched them, thinking, "This is my mother's, this is my brother's," and so on. I thought, "What if I died and had never touched this?"

The world is beginning now to realize Father's value. In America everybody knows Rev. Moon. They used to think Rev. Moon was bad, but now they are changing their mind. They are beginning to learn that Rev. Moon is bringing them new light, new revelation. The person who can bring harmony to the world is the one who can become a leader. The nation that can bring harmony to the world is the nation that will lead the world. If the Unification can bring harmony, it will become the leading religion in the world.

Now many people in the church are getting doctorates. If you are a Ph.D., do you want to become a Ph.D. of true love?

Who has more value: One who dies in true love or one who lives in true love? Jesus said those who are ready to die will live and vice versa. Do you think Father has had an easy or difficult life? Do you think I have always received God's love? In the deepest pit Father has always promised God that even if he has to go forever without happiness and joy he will go. Even if he has to go through the roughest of times he will do it. Father is not interested in establishing a political party or achieving high office, and all those who criticize Father for seeking worldly power misunderstand completely. Father is not interested in the branches. He wants to go into the deepest parts of the smelly earth and establish roots. God wants to establish absolute value, absolute standard. He needs an absolute man and woman that represent this absolute standard of value. This absolute standard can only be established on love. If a man and woman with the kind of love that can embrace the world can unite, they can become the absolute point of reference, the perfect object of God. The history of man has not had a center that could unite the generations and unite the nations horizontally. This world is a place of struggle and confusion.

Why do we exist? We exist for God. What comes first, love or life? Love is prior to life. It comes from the eternal ancestor. Our lives must be completely dedicated to love. We must sacrifice our lives for love.

God wants to have a model of the ideal man and woman that show the pattern of love. There has to be a model for the individual that represents the vertical in his relationship with God and the horizontal in his relationship with his body and mind. If you are united in mind and body, you don't need things to decorate your body. This watch is a present from Hyo Jin Mm for our birthday, but actually I don't need a watch. I can tell myself when I want to wake up. (Father takes it off, but can't get it on again. He walks over to Mother, who puts it on for him). Mother just told me, "Come to the conclusion (of the speech)."

God wants true Adam first. He created Adam before Eve. So Jesus was a man. Rev. Moon is always the one who gets blamed for the mistakes of the Unification Church. If Rev. Kwak or Rev. Kim Young Whi make a mistake, I get the blame. You can run away from the church but I cannot. The central persons of this world always run away at some time. The President of Korea is not ready to put his life on the line. He is ready to run away if things don't work out his way.

How old am I now? I am 70. Do you remember how 70-year-old grandmothers walk bent over? Why do I keep on working instead of relaxing and letting younger people take over? There are many things for me to do in the spiritual world. The pattern Father is establishing for the Unification Church members is for you to be prepared to invest yourself at any time and to put your life on the line. If you don't follow that pattern there is no way you can succeed.

The providence of God was to establish the central model for his love. Jesus was to be the true Adam. God wants to establish the vertical line through the True Parents. That is the focal point of His providence.

The reason God's providence has not been accomplished until now is because these vertical and horizontal directions were not found. Because True Parents have established this absolutely focused direction the light of truth, the light of God is bound to beam forth to illuminate the world. Christianity does not understand this central point and thus can only serve as the preparation for the Unification truth to flourish. Only by adjusting ourselves to the vertical and horizontal direction of God's providence will we be able to progress. Every other way our progress will be blocked.

God's purpose is to provide models for the individual, family and the group. God wants to have a model for the true religion.

In the Unification Church will an oriental husband and a western wife, representing the plus and minus poles, become one if they are both individually united in mind and body? Father is matching people beyond racial and national boundaries. He is not creating a Korean or any other race but a new love race. (In English:) Satan hates the love race

Has the West welcomed or opposed the Unification Church? Father has been opposed wherever he went. Do you think the Korean government has supported or opposed Father? He has been opposed everywhere.

Are you going to become models of God's love? All the women in the Unification Church are so attracted to Father because he is the model of an individual. Many young members are attracted by Father's sons. Members hope that some day their children will marry with Father's children so that they can be connected. Some day you will all be connected through your descendants to Father's lineage. You have to work and prepare for that time. The model of true love can always be followed. Whatever this model does you must be ready to follow. When parents hit their children and the children still have an unchanging love, the parents' hears will be completely melted away. The parents will bow and cry tears before a child who returns with love even after being hit and scolded.

Father has never condemned any of his enemies or prayed for something bad to happen to them. Father has loved America. Because of this America cannot but acknowledge Father and repay the debt of love it has incurred.

History has been God's effort to establish the true pattern for the individual and to establish the True Parents who represent the true horizontal and vertical directions and who can become the true standard for mankind.

The purpose of the Unification Church is to establish a standard for all religions, for all of mankind. So it has to sacrifice the most and go through the most difficult course. We have until now given more funds to other religions and other churches than to the Unification Church. Through the Unification Church Christianity must fulfill its purpose and through Christianity religions must fulfill their purpose. Because the Unification Church has that mission even if we had the money we would not spend it on ourselves. With the money we have we could build nice houses for ourselves, but the only way to come out of the world of death and escape from Satan is by following the pattern of sacrifice and love.

God had prepared through His providence to unite the world centered on Christianity. After the Second World War the struggle of Cain and Abel should have been finished and, centered on Christianity, the providence of God should have been accomplished.

God's plan at the time of Jesus was to unite Asia centered on Jesus and then unite the West with Asia. But because the foundation was not completed, the providence went through the western world, centered on Christianity. So Christianity flourished and developed western civilization. Then it came to Korea, raising Korea as the central nation of Asia to the point where it could lead the unification of Asia that was not accomplished at the time of Jesus. The Second World War represents the imitation of Satan of God's unification. Japan was the satanic representative of Eve. For 40 years Japan occupied Korea, symbolizing the 4000 years during which the fall of Eve dominated Adam.

During the war, Japan, Germany and Italy formed an alliance representing the unity of Eve, Adam and the archangel on the satanic side. The pattern of restoration requires a central person, a substantial offering and a time period. It is followed on the satanic and heavenly side. Geographically, the peninsulas and seas and islands are symbols of the male and female sexual organs.

Korea as a peninsula represents the male organ whereas the Mediterranean and islands like Japan represents Eve's womb. In the time of the Second Advent all the countries providentially are looking toward the Adam country. They need an Adam nation that can establish the center for unity. Eve and the archangel have to cooperate to establish the position of Adam. The time we live in now is such a time. The countries in Eve and archangel positions on the satanic and heavenly sides have to cooperate to establish the position of true Adam. So Japan, America, China and Russia have to work together in order for Korea to unite and become the center of unity that can restore them too.

What would have happened if there had not been the Ehwa incident? Yonsei and Ehwa, the Christian universities, would have united with Father and within seven years the unity of the world would have been possible. Because of this failure the Unification Church had to be established in the place of worldwide Christianity.

But because Christianity did not unite with Father the foundation prepared by God was lost. Originally Britain was in the role of Eve but instead the country in the Eve position on the side of Satan, Japan, had to take the role. America had to be the Abel and Germany, the Cain. Only after establishing Japan, America and Germany in front of God in these positions could Father establish Korea in the position of Adam. To establish the foundation for Korea to take the role of Adam, Father had to go a 40 year course of indemnity.

For 40 years, the fight was mainly with communism and even Christianity was infiltrated by communism. In the last days, it was prophesied that the wolf would appear in sheep's clothing. After Father had established the foundation in America it was like the criminal on the right side of Jesus uniting with Jesus. On that basis Father could come back to Korea.

The reason Korea had not been established as Adam until now was not because of the failure of America or anyone else but because of the failure of Korea itself, centered on Christianity.

Adam and Eve fell on the individual level and through that the foundation for the national Adam and Eve was lost. Through the blessing of 2,500 Korean-Japanese couples, however, Father has married Adam and Eve on the national level. Internally Korea's position as Adam has been established. The internal foundation for the unity of the four nations around Korea is laid. If there is a general election through all Korea in the future, the factions that represent the four nations will compete for dominion over Korea. But internally the foundation for unity is already laid. The head is there that can unite the other directions.

Now the opposition to the unification movement is no problem any more. Whether it comes from political power, Christianity or even communism' Father has established all the foundations to be victorious in all these areas. The movement to break through on the local administrative level is laying the foundation for the harmony of the different political factions. This will give the Unification movement the power to tell the parties to stop fighting and unite.

For the next four years we have to establish this internal foundation for the unification of Korea. Our topic was the Unification Church and Korea seen from the history of the providence. Now Korea has come to the point which God had prepared 40 years ago, but because of the failure of Korean Christianity to unite with Father he has to do the work at age 70 that he should have done at age 30.

The Unification Church must be aware of its responsibility to establish itself as the model, the standard of good, on all levels.

Is it better for the church to have a difficult or an easy time? When we are going a difficult course we can become more powerful and can better establish the true standard of God. To be able to go a difficult course is actually a blessing. Who should demonstrate and protest, those who have a difficult time or those who have an easy time? Those who have an easy time now will have no right to receive blessing in the future so they should be the ones to protest now.

The second generation of members have to earn the inheritance of the Unification Church. You want to go to Seoul National University and Yonsei University but if you don't want to go to the Song Hwa Theological Seminary you do not understand the value of True Parents' work. You must inherit the tradition of True Parents and be able to establish the standard of True Parents' pattern that you are not ashamed of. This is the third Sunday in February. In March spring comes. You must really determine yourselves and realize what the unification of Korea means. You must understand the meaning of the providence of the tribal messiah. We have to re-establish the lost Korea.

We have to go out and bring the love of True Parents to the hometown areas, winning them over by loving them more than we have loved the external world.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the steadfast love you have given throughout the course of the True Parents. Father, you want to see the True Parents as the shining sun of mankind. You have prepared for the unification of the world centered on the unification of Korea. I thank you very much for the preparation and all the conditions you have permitted. Father, thank you for bringing the final day of judgment. The triumph of good over evil is so close. Please give the members here all the blessing and love they need and help them overcome all their circumstances. I pray especially for the foreign members from Japan and other countries working here. Let their suffering be the basis for the Korean people to understand the providence. All things we pray in the name of the True Parents. Amen

As I think back to when I was young I remember I was very curious about my country and the eight provinces of Korea. I thought Korea was ideal when I looked at pictures of the country but I also felt there was a lot of suffering. It was hard for people in the villages to make a living. The more difficult the environment, the more effort is needed to make a good living. It is difficult to carve out a living in a place where there are mountains and rocks and not much fertile land. Man's external environment is given to him. He cannot choose it.

On the internal level, in history there are many factors which make it difficult for a people to preserve their identity without being swallowed up by enemy cultures. If we can see how difficult it is for a physical nation to survive and maintain its identity, how much harder must it be for a people who live by religion in the spiritual realm to survive. To find identity and place in the spiritual realm, a man must invest even more.

A nation must go through difficulties to find its true home. For an individual, it is much more difficult to find his true home in the spiritual world. A person's true home is in the spiritual world with God.

Man has body and mind. Can the hometown of body and mind be different? Where is your mind or heart's hometown? Where is the place it wants to find permanent rest?

Father left his physical hometown many decades ago. He has lived in many prisons. But when he saw the sunlight come through the prison bars it was the same sunlight in Japan, America or Korea and he always felt great joy. In prison he met his enemies. In Japan, he met Japanese people and thought, "Even though they are my enemies they are close to me." Through his prison experiences Father learned to love the people of that nation.

Where is hometown? It is where our parents are. Parents can give so much. If you are sad, parents can give you comfort; if you are happy, you can share happiness with them.

Your relationship to your parents is an eternal one. We always long for eternal and unchanging relationships. Our relationship to our parents is wherever we go. The true companions of our heart are our parents. We are longing for a partner who does not change his or her loyalty to us. For me, this point is with my parents; for them, it is their parents and so on. If we follow the line back, we come to the ancestor of mankind. Who does the ancestor of mankind relate to? To God. Our longing to return to our hometown, the homesickness we all feel is related to that original root.

As we grow and go through education from kindergarten to university, it seems we go further away from our hometown, from that beginning point. But the further we go the more lonely we become and the more we long, perhaps unconsciously, to return to that beginning. Our memories from high school are usually fonder than those of university, and so it goes back. Our fondest memories are when we went holding our parent's hand and met our kindergarten teacher for the first time.

The animals have extremely strong maternal instincts. In my hometown the magpies built their nests very cleverly. It seemed as if they knew ahead of time what the weather that year would be. They seemed to know if there were going to be many storms that year. They built their nests according to how the weather was going to be. The birds put so much energy into making their nests just to protect their babies. Every day I went to see them. At first, they protested but later they seemed to be glad to see me.

Nature is like a textbook. The memories I have of studying nature in my hometown are unforgettable. I caught so many frogs, big ones and small ones and studied them. I made a pond at home and brought them there. But sometimes in the morning they died. I felt so sad and said to the frog, "Your mother will be so sad. Why did you die? You shouldn't have done that"

In spring the mountains were full of flowers. It was so beautiful. Just sitting against a tree in the mountains in spring, dozing, was an unforgettable memory. The basic things we learn are in our hometown. As a child you played and fell down and your nose bled and you came home and got told off by your mother. Then she would wipe your nose and comfort you. When my mother comforted me and I said, "Thank you, mother," it was a great feeling. I could feel that she was proud of me.

I had many brothers and sisters and lots of relatives. We had many beautiful customs. For example, when one relative married and brought his bride to the village, for many days the family members would take turns according to their closeness to the relative to give feasts. So for many days I could go around without feeling hungry. The hospitality and happiness people displayed was beautiful.

When my mother sent one of her daughters to marry, it was like a thief stole the daughter. She would cry for days before she had to send her daughter away to join her husband's family. It was as if she were losing her daughter forever. Today's Unification Church parents have it good. You can be reassured about letting daughters go with the husband that Father chooses. Another thing I cannot forget is watching my mother working. She worked so hard her legs swelled. When I grabbed her legs I could feel how swollen they were. When I pressed my hands against her leg the mark remained for a long time. But she still kept on running around. I was deeply moved by her devotion.

In your hometown you learn the basic things of life, how to put on your clothes and so on. I remember when my mother scolded me, for example when I climbed up a tree. once she hit me very hard but afterwards she cried and said to my brothers and sisters she was sorry. But I think she did well. I think when parents hit you they feel even more hurt than the child. These incidents of being spanked or hurting yourself become strong, fond memories and make you feel so sentimental about your childhood.

I can see now that the things I learned with my family and my relatives and neighbors gave me the education and strength to build up the Unification movement. You cannot imagine how much I long to return to my hometown. This desire was very strong in me even from very early on when I went to school in Seoul. In my first summer vacation I naturally longed to go home but I didn't. I denied the longing and purposely did not go home.

All of us have so many childhood memories. We long to go home. In the spiritual world we will need a museum exhibiting the places we loved. It's a beautiful experience to return to a place you loved long ago and find it the same, to find a tree as you remembered it.

We have to preserve the things that remind us of our past. In the Unification Church, too, we must do the same. Would it be better for you if we preserve the original church building or tear it down and build a new one? Which would give you more pleasure? You would be happy to find things as they were when the movement began. Would you like to go to my hometown? But I won't let you go. If you still want to go, then I'll let you. You have to have such a strong desire. Why don't we have a church museum? We have to make a museum that shows the history of the church from the beginning. Don't you think God himself would like to visit such a museum?

Our hometown is the place where we can find the center of the foundation of our life. Why is that? Because our parents are there and their eternal unchanging love is there. What about orphans who have no physical hometown? We should not pity them so much. Their hometown is where their fond memories begin. When they are blessed, they find the partner who loves them and their life can begin.

When I was in school I never ate lunch. I felt I couldn't because there were so many who couldn't afford it. At that time I was teaching Sunday school in Sobingodong in Seoul where they used to have ice houses for the collection of ice from the Han river. (Sobingo means "east ice house.") In those days when I was a high-school student teaching Sunday school, my speeches were much more interesting than now. When I cried in front of them, they cried and when I said something funny, they exploded in laughter.

I didn't eat lunch but brought food to the poor people in order to share their suffering. I didn't return to my hometown in order that I could share the loneliness of people and of God.

When you leave your hometown, like Father went to Seoul, it is like going into exile. It was the same when Father went from Seoul to America. What about when you go to the spiritual world? Why is it that even in the spiritual world people feel that their home is still that tiny spot on the earth? It is because of their parents. The love of parents is at the root of your love for your nation and the world. When you really love your country it is like loving your parents and brothers and sisters.

The ideal world is where everybody is at home, where the world is your hometown. The world of heart is the world of your parents. All the people who have developed the heart of parents make up the ideal world. In the spiritual realm, a world where there is no nationality is forming. Here we still have France, Germany, England and the different nations. But in the spiritual world, in the world of the heart of the parents, there is no longer nationality like that. People are welcomed as if they are all members of one family.

The lesson we can learn from the fond memories of our hometown is that the fond memories are where there is love. Because man is born from love, the place where we meet love for the first time is where we are happy.

If you are a member of the Unification Church you have to live like Father. This year alone we have spent hundreds of millions of won for the benefit of the Korean people. It cost a great deal to send the Korean professors to America. Now they want us to send school principals. Who will pay for it? President Kim, will you sell your house if necessary to send these people to America? Everybody in the church who lives at the expense of the church and gives nothing will have no place to stand. You have to give more than you take. I have come not to leave debt behind, but to leave debtors. Maybe you have not experienced this, but when you come out and proclaim, "I have come to make debtors of love, to give the love of my Parents," and declare it in front of history and mankind the response from the spiritual world will be, "Amen! Amen!"

Don't you think the person who has invested everything and has gone through all kinds of hardship, not allowing himself peaceful sleep throughout his life for the sake of establishing true love, will he not be welcomed by all the spiritual world?

You know how difficult it is to support a wife and children. But because they are your loved ones, you forget the difficulties and you are happy. In the same way if you can save one person by your effort and suffering you feel so worthwhile that you forget the troubles. If one husband, through his dedication and sacrifice, can bring salvation to his wife, liberate her from misery and sin, wouldn't he be glad to do it?

The longing of our original heart for our hometown is actually a longing for a universal home town where all the directions of the universe are represented in a three dimensional way. This home is at the center of true love. The mission of our life is to find and go to this universal hometown.

Even when you think back to your childhood home and the friends you wrestled and fought with and who made your nose bleed, you still long for them even though they were your enemies at the time. You have no feelings of animosity, but rather you long to be with them. When Father went to prison in America he was actually longing for the prison in Korea. He felt tremendous love for the people who had put him in prison in Korea. He felt that prison is not a place of misery. It is a place where you can learn to love your enemy. Going to prison, Father felt he could understand Jesus who was able to love his enemy. It is a heavenly principle for us to want to go to our hometown, the universal hometown where you can live together with God. Throughout our whole life we are marching to find the eternal parent who can give us our eternal hometown. Let us pray.

Father prays: Father, we have to understand our life is a way of returning to our hometown. It is a course of returning to the hometown of our hearts. We know, Father, when we are investing more of our effort into returning to the spiritual home of our heart to establish a spiritual home for mankind beyond any national boundaries, beyond any narrow borders, we know Your blessing is with us to a much greater degree than if we had just concentrated on our physical and national hometown. Father, please help the members of the Unification Church to become people who can, without any feeling of shame, go the way to establish the home for all mankind, the home for the original mind. Father, please make them strong and courageous on this way, that they may become your proud sons and daughters. All of this we pray in the name of the True Parents. Amen.

The Tribal Messiah

Today we will talk about the tribal messiah. We know that because of the fall of man we are ignorant of God and His will. Instead of the good deity, God, an evil deity, Satan, has been established. Mankind was born for the will of God, but has gone completely away from that will. Because we are His creation, the only way for us to go, is the way of the will of God. Going the way of the will means going towards the fulfillment of an ideal world.

What is this will of God based on? It is based on love. The unity of husband and wife is not centered on the husband or the wife, but on love. In the same way, the unity between parents and children is centered not on the parents or the children, but on love. If unity between husband and wife centered on love is possible, so is the unity between parent and child and likewise the unity between man and God.

What God wants is not material. He wants an ideal family that is united on the basis of love. Love is what God really needs. If mankind lives according to the will of God, there is no need for religion and prayer. If man lives according to the will one hundred percent then God will be with man. Religion would then be unnecessary. It is only because we are separated from God that we need salvation and it is only because we need salvation that we need a savior.

Man's basic problem is that he does not know the purpose of his existence as it is willed by God. The most basic problem of mankind is not one of knowledge, however. It has to do with the center of love. This love cannot be bought with money or power, but still God needs this love. What kind of love is this? True love. What is true love? True love is love that does not start from the individual. In Korea the leader who is able to love the entire population of forty million people more than himself would be the true leader of the country.

We know the universe moves according to the purpose of God. What is the purpose of the universe? If we look at the way the universe is organized we can see that the central principle is that the individual unit lives for the sake of the whole. The destiny of the individual is to live for the family, the family for the tribe, the tribe for the nation and the nation for the world. If the nation lives according to that destiny it is qualified to receive the blessing of the whole world. The world should live according to heavenly destiny. How can we live according to heavenly destiny? This is only possible if we become one with God. The final destination of our lives is to become one with God.

If we live according to heavenly destiny we are qualified to receive complete protection from God. What then is the core element of this protection? Is it God's knowledge? It is centered on love. If we live for the greater unit we receive it's protection. If we live for our family we are bound to receive the protection of our family; if we live for the country, we receive the protection of the country; if we live for the world, we receive the protection of the world; if we live for God, we receive the protection of God.

Only if our love is based on true love can it create real happiness. If the love between husband and wife is not rooted in true love it is on shaky ground and is bound to create unhappiness. Only if true love is the root of our love can happiness be produced, even for God. In history love has not been rooted in true love so true happiness has never been achieved.

Only when the relationship between God and man has entered into a true relationship where there is an absolutely vertical connection will there be a love which is impossible to separate. On that foundation the horizontal axis of love will be matched with a perfect ninety degree angle. Only then can true love start to spread.

There can be only one parent in that absolute vertical position. That is the true Adam. He becomes the vertical parent of all mankind. In front of that vertical parent, horizontal parents will be connected. Why is there a need for horizontal parents? God is our vertical Father who has created us centered on true love. When God made us he created the vertical direction in our mind and the horizontal direction in our body. The vertical direction itself already contains the concept of horizontal, just as the idea of right is inherent in the idea of left and front in back.

God created the mind as the vertical. Thus implicitly, there must be a horizontal -- that is our body. To find a clearly defined direction you need two axes. God created a vertical parent, true Adam. Around the vertical parent, the horizontal parents are grouped and achieve the clan, national and world wide levels.

The horizontal level is the level of multiplication. On the horizontal level we can achieve the four directions of north, south, east and west and make a complete circle.

When the vertical position is set up by the inseparable relationship between God and True Parents, then the plane of love on the horizontal level can be established.

When God is in our relationships He calls us to come to the center. If He is in our marriage relationship, love calls us to the center even though the husband is in the east and the wife in the west. Love is not something that is in us but it is in the center of all our relationships.

Religion has so many rules. In our church we say we have to fulfill our responsibility on all levels and even take responsibility for the liberation of God. Why is it so complicated? It is because we have to restore love at all levels. Peace without love has no meaning just as unity without love has no meaning. Freedom without love has no meaning. True freedom is only possible with love. Our own body and mind are only free if they are united and that unity is only possible through love.

All the ideologues and activists who are working for the liberation of the world are not free themselves as long as their mind and body is fighting. While there is conflict between mind and body all talk about liberating the nation or the world is in vain.

True freedom can only exist where there is unity and harmony. Nowadays people talk about free nations and free societies, but they all neglect that point. Is America really the land of the free? America began as a nation under God, centered on Christian values. Look at it today. In some cities a woman cannot walk on the streets alone after dark. Is that freedom?

There is a natural order. Look at the four directions. How do they come into place? Only by the east, west and south taking their proper places does north come into being. There is a natural order. The Unification Church stands for the unification of religions but does it really unify religions? Can you unite all the religions? Is your mind and body united? First body and mind must be united for the individual to be able to devote himself to something bigger.

What place is closer to God? The pocket of the father who spends all his money for the mission or your own pocket which spends all the money for yourself? The place closer to true goodness is the one that represents all directions not just one. By using money for the nation Father establishes all four directions, not just one. How can the Unification Church unite religions and the world? It can if it is centered on one focal point, the vertical relationship with God. All the levels are related to this point. What is the subject of my speech today? The tribal messiah. What is the messiah? The messiah is the savior of love, the person who brings man back from the fallen way that is opposed to the purpose of God. Because man has fallen, the wrong center and wrong relationships have been established and the restoration is complicated. How can we bring man back to the true relationship with God? The Unification Church can only bring the world back into a true relationship with God by cutting the relationship with the wrong direction and connecting to the true center.

In the Unification Church we have to connect ourselves to the vertical God and the vertical parents and become ourselves the horizontal parents who achieve a perfect ninety degree angle to that axis.

The messiah is the person who can become the vertical true parent. From there the true liberation of the individual can begin. Liberation can only start from the point of the establishment of the true vertical parent. The liberation of the self can only be based on the unity of my body and mind centered on true love. We talk about the liberation of North Korea, but the liberation of the nation is the fifth or sixth level after the liberation of the individual, family, tribe and so on.

Liberation is only possible through unity. The individual can achieve liberation through unity of body and mind. The family can be liberated by the unity of the family members. True liberation can be achieved by unity focused on a greater unit.

The Unification Church members in Korea say they are too busy working to support their families to work for the unification of Korea. I say they should sacrifice for the sake of the nation. But they want to work for the unity of their family first. If I sacrifice my own family for the sake of the nation and sacrifice all Koreans, including all the Moon family and relatives, will I succeed or fail?

The course which will have lasting success is the one which sets the tradition. The individual who can set the tradition for the course of the family or the nation or world will be the one that will prosper. The true tradition of individual level love is one centered on the family. The true tradition of the family is one that is centered on love for the tribe, the greater group. The true tradition of the nation would be a love centered not on the nation but on the world.

If you want to be a successful leader of a nation, you have to be ready to pay the necessary indemnity to set the course. Do you think Chun Doo-Hwan [former South Korean President] failed because he wanted to? He certainly wanted to do well, but he failed. He did not find the way. President Park Chung Hee before him was also unable to establish a true tradition. What about Father? Has he prospered or has he failed? The political parties and governments in Korea have opposed Father until now, but they have failed and the Unification Church has not. The established churches have opposed the Unification Church, but they will not prosper.

The reason that Father has not failed is because he knows God's principle which is, if you are opposed, do not fight. Then you will rise and they will decline. There are many examples in God's creation of how He uses opposition to bring progress. For example, in winter the ground in the northern hemisphere freezes. When water freezes it expands and breaks open the ground. The seeds can thereby penetrate the ground and come out in the spring. You can see how God planned it all out so beautifully. Likewise, Father never fought the opposition. He let the opposition break the surface so he could prosper through the openings it created.

Man has to love the earth. He has to love creation, man and God. But can we love God? We cannot really love God with original love because of our fallen state. We need a messiah who can restore our love to the place of original love.

God's providence is such that through establishing the vertical parent, He sets up the religion which can guide the nation. God's providence was for Judaism to take that role centered on the true parent. The plan was for the nation to unite with that religion. Rome was supposed to unite with Judaism. The providence was for the messiah in the center to unite Cain and Abel horizontally. The unification of mankind is only possible with the vertical in the center. Christianity has lost the vision of the vertical parent. Modern theologies like liberation theology neglect the fact that the vertical relationship is necessary. Liberation of the individual, classes and nations are only possible based on the unity of the individual and classes and so on. True liberation is only possible centered on the messiah. We have to become messiahs who can bring liberation by connecting ourselves completely to the vertical center and then establishing the horizontal in a ninety degree angle.

If a man by himself comes into the position of this vertical point and achieves the qualification to be the messiah, does he need a wife? If a man is in the position of a true father he can only become a father through his wife. He cannot be a father by himself. He needs a wife who also establishes the absolute vertical direction in herself. Only through their unity do they finally achieve the positions of mother and father. True unity is only possible by establishing a true center where left and right can meet and unite. The philosophy of our Unification movement is not left wing or right wing, but headwing. Only if there is a head can the left and right unite. The head is God.

The philosophy of Reverend Moon is for the individual to find this vertical relationship with God and on that basis to establish a perfect horizontal angle. Since Satan has occupied the horizontal level from the individual to the world, indemnity had to be paid on all levels so that the horizontal direction could be restored. That is the reason Reverend Moon has gone the world wide course of indemnity for forty years.

Father had to go to the very edge of the horizontal axis and receive persecution to bring all levels back to God. Whenever Father came out of prison the Unification Church was lifted to a higher level. Through the indemnity of prison Father received the persecution of that level. In Danbury he received the persecution of the American nation. He went through it and when he came out the whole movement went onto a higher level.

Now in America even Christian churches are realizing they will have to follow Father's direction to succeed. Just the fact that 7000 ministers from America, the most developed country, came to a backward country like Korea to study the thought of Reverend Moon is amazing. How can you explain it?

Father is directing enemy nations to love each other. There is much animosity between Japan and Korea. Father is ordering the Japanese members to love Korea more than their own country.

When the Israelites came into Canaan they were not very cultured. They envied the people living there. The second generation of Jews thought that rather than marry their own they would marry Canaanites who were wealthy and sophisticated. That is what started their problem.

Father is now matching Koreans and Japanese. Japan cannot complain and say that Reverend Moon is making Japanese members give up their traditions and adopt Korean ways because we are living in a time of freedom when people can marry who they want. The nations cannot complain anymore when I do this. The time is coming when national government will have to send congratulatory telegrams. The time will come when Father matches 20,000 or 30,000 couples at a time. In Korea men in some parts of the countryside have difficulty finding brides. There was a story in the newspapers of a man who committed suicide because he could not find a bride. There were 500 young men in the village who could not find brides. There is an easy solution. In Japan there are 800 Japanese sisters awaiting matching. If the young Koreans want to solve their problem, they should join the Unification Church and get the blessing.

Father has started the new method of picture matching. If Father matches Koreans and Japanese they cannot communicate easily to discuss whether they accept the matching. With pictures Father can match 3600 couples in one day. They do not waste time discussing. They just say "yes" to a picture so it saves time and speeds up the process.

Nobody can really oppose Father matching people as he wants because he is disconnecting them from the Satanic line and connection them to the bloodline of True Parents. Nobody can oppose that. Father is the one man in history who has fought with Satan on all levels and has been victorious. There is no one in America who can now oppose Father.

I have suffered and established the course of indemnity throughout my life. Am I attractive or not? My wife has to suffer more than any wife. Mother is so small yet she has worked so hard and suffered because of me. Who has suffered the most in history to find just one true woman? Why do you think I am paying so much indemnity just to match men and women together to become Unification couples? All of the problems of the sins committed by men and women have to be solved. Such a huge amount of complicated problems have to be solved.

To create the unity of husband and wife is only possible through God's love. To establish that tradition of God's love requires tremendous indemnity. Father has never withheld his love from anybody. Father has never even wished for something bad to happen to Kim Il Sung. Many Koreans hope he will die soon, but Father is the opposite. Kim Il Sung is the false parent in Korea. Until Koreans give more love to True Parents than the false parents, God does not want Kim Il Sung to die. Father wants Kim Il Sung himself to be subjugated by True Parent's love.

Some people in South Korea complain that Reverend Moon has too many connections in China and too many Chinese leaders under his control. They say they have to invest money to get more influence there. But they do not know what they are talking about. They could not invest what Father has in China even with all the money in the world.

If I condemn someone that is a terrible judgement. Therefore I do not do it. When I condemn someone then God condemns them so I do not do that. I never condemn Mother. I just wait and let things go their course. In Korea I have established the Segye Ilbo [the daily newspaper launched 1st February] and now the major papers, the Chosun Ilbo and Donga Ilbo, are very careful about what they say about the Unification Church. They have been very critical in the past. Even though Father does not condemn them, they are already condemned by themselves.

Are you confident that you can save yourself, your parents and your brothers and sisters? Your nation? The world? Who is the true master of the Unification Church? You are all fake. You are only true if you truly establish the vertical relationship with God and the horizontal relationships with your surroundings, your family and so on. There are people who criticize Father for claiming he is the messiah. Anytime they want to be the messiah and pay the indemnity, it is theirs for the taking. But no one is prepared to receive the inheritance from Father.

Today my topic is the tribal messiah. You know how difficult it is to be the tribal messiah, do you think you can go the way of true love without a leader or a guide? The course you have to follow is for your body and mind to become one, your couple to become one, your family to become one. Then you can unite your tribe. Even if you have a leader or guide you still have to do your five percent responsibility. If you so not fulfill your five percent completely, the leader cannot help you.

Would you like to prepare your family and invite Father to your home? Father will not come because the spiritual world would complain. Father cannot go to an individual now. Father does not pray for a sick person. My cousin, President Moon, asked me to pray for his mother. A medium told him she is angry in the spiritual world because Father did not pray for her. But Father cannot do that. He prays for the nation and world because the providence is on that level. Before God has a nation and world Father cannot pray and ask God to act for the sake of one individual.

The providence of the tribal messiah could only be established after Father had sacrificed the family and tribe for the nation and world. Three years ago, after Father had paid indemnity for forty years, the Moon clan asked Father to be their leader. Since Father became the head of the Moon clan the tribal messiah providence could start. That is the basis for you to become tribal messiahs.

Now is the time for you to go back to your home area to your relatives and family members who you have sacrificed for the sake of the world. You must ask them with tears for forgiveness for not having loved them during this time and in that way restore them.

Father is the worldwide messiah and the nation has to welcome him. Will you yourself welcome Father and give him a great party? Last year Father spent a lot of money [about one million dollars] for members to hold parties in Korea.

Father could order the removal of the opposition but he does not do that. Father wants to go the way of natural subjugation by true love where the opponent just naturally gives up and recognizes Father. True subjugation is only possible through true love.

Without understanding Father's direction none of the policies or efforts for unification can be successful. Father has prepared on all levels, spiritually, economically and technologically. Father is now working for the development of China by bringing technology and know-how from the developed world.

Father already has the master plan for the unification of the world. He is now concentrating on China but he also has plans for India and Russia. Some Koreans think they can go the direct way to open up North Korea, but they have to be very careful. The best way is through China and Russia.

Father wants the Unification Church to be absolutely centered on the vertical direction. That is the only way can we break from Satan. In front of the heavenly principle of the vertical parents we have to establish ourselves in the absolute perpendicular position and, anchored on that central point, we have to go out to the evil world and restore all levels of individual, family, clan and nation and bring all of them back to God.

Father has invested everything to restore the world back to God. The Unification Church has to go that way. Father has given the Unification Church of Korea an annual budget of $750,000 but he has invested millions for the sake of the established churches. Now the established churches do not have the power to attack the Unification Church. Even the nation does not have the power to overcome the Unification Church.

What is this year's motto? It is the Unification of Korea. What comes after that? The unification of south and north. The unification of Korea means that all of South Korea has to unite with True Parents more than North Korea is united with Kim Il Sung. Based on that, the unification of Korea can take place and on that basis the unification of the world can take place.

The established churches think their power comes from knowing the Bible and singing hymns and praying. Do you think they can defeat the Unification Church? We know the Bible better than they do. Do you have confidence in that? And singing hymns, do you remember when we sang the same hymn hundreds of times over? We have spent many nights in all-night prayer vigils. We win on the prayer front too.

Reverend Moon never loses. Don't you think ninety percent of politicians would follow Father's direction if they attended a twenty one day training? You have to understand the source of Father's power. Father has gone out to the world. He went to America, to the end of the Satanic world to pay indemnity. Now he is coming back and the world must follow him. He has established the condition for America to follow him. Now the world is following Father to Korea.

Until now there were no tribal messiahs. To achieve it you must establish the absolute vertical relationship with True Parents. Then establish the unity as an individual, couple and family. People are now realizing that what Father says comes true. Nothing can stop us now.

Father's plan is really clever. When the ninety degree angle is established at the center then however far you go out on the horizontal axis you can relate to the center.

There is nothing to fear. All who oppose us will be punished by the spiritual world. The spiritual world gives them the disease by making them feel uncomfortable and then shows them the cure which is to follow the Unification movement. The time will come in Korea when everyone will become a member and those who do not will have nowhere to go.

Father has blessed 21,000 couples worldwide. They represent the foundation that Jesus could not establish. Jesus himself could not receive the blessing and establish the family foundation. But now the Unification Church members already have received the blessing and have children. Only by becoming parents can the messiah actually be the root of mankind. Only then can the providence of God multiply. Now the Unification Church has multiplied to 21,000 blessed couples.

In Korean politics there are regional factions, like the Kyongsang province faction centered on Kim Young Sam. But in the Unification Church there are no factions. The Unification Church blessed families represent all mankind. If at the times of Jesus the six prepared couples of his family had united, he would not have had to go his public course. He would have married and based on the unity of his own physical family the Jewish nation could have united with him. Now the unity of the family of Jesus, including the family of John the Baptist is represented worldwide by the 21,000 blessed families.

Now I have ordered tribal revival meetings world wide. We do not have anything to fear. We already have the worldwide foundation. We have to follow the direction of the worldwide tribal revival meetings and the world will fall into our hands.

Father has gone out to the world and returned to South Korea and is sending out the South Korean members to be tribal messiahs. The era of Korea has come. The world Unification Church members want to have blessing with Korean partners because they want to participate in the providence of Korea and share the blessing God is giving to Korea now. All the families Father blesses now are like ancestors of the new royal lineage, so therefore the members do not object if Father matches them across national, racial or cultural boundaries.

Because True Parents have established the focal point of true love, all the horizontal levels of family, tribe and society will automatically come to form around True Parents. Different ideologies and philosophies are losing their strength. As they decline the Unification philosophy is emerging and finally it will be the only one left and the whole world will automatically follow it. When you go out as tribal messiahs you have to follow the course of True Parents, the path of indemnity, the path of tears and sweat. Liberate yourself, your family and your tribe. When you shed your blood, sweat and tears for the sake of the world your course can never fail.

When you go to your home area you have to dedicate everything to your relatives to restore them even if you have to sell your house and belongings to hold a party for them. You must conquer their hearts. In order to establish yourself as a tribal messiah you need to restore three families on the vertical level -- your own family, your parents and grandparents. And you need three families on the horizontal level. You have to love your tribe with the heart of love for the nation. If you are in the center your love has to go out in all directions to the extreme end. As you love the God, you must love the world; to love the world you must love the nation; you must love the nation to love your tribe. This way it is impossible for Satan to take any part away. Your love for your partner and children has to equal your love for the nation, the world and God. If your love for your partner is not connected to God through all the levels then Satan can invade and take away that love.

The mission of the tribal messiah is to set up the foundation for all the world to be adopted into the tribes. Father has paid worldwide indemnity conditions for the worldwide blessing to come into Korea. The establishment of tribal messiahs is to lay the foundation for the whole world to be adopted into these tribes. Does Father have to pay for the local churches we are building or will you even sell your own house to pay for them? When you build a building where you want to host God will you invest more than you invest into your own house? Can Father make cars? It is not easy, but Father is confident he is going to make cars which are better than Mercedes Benz. Just wait and see. Now Father is buying land all over Korea but the provinces complain if I buy land in another province. Last night I went to Cholla province to look at land in Mokpo [an area on the southwest coast] and returned at midnight. That is Father's lifestyle. Now people in positions of responsibility are realizing the only people they can trust are the Unification Church members. They will have to join the Unification movement. Today we will talk about the tribal messiah. We know that as a result of the fall of man we are ignorant of God and His will. Instead of the good deity, God, an evil deity, Satan, has been established. Mankind was born for the will of God but has gone completely away from that will. Because we are His creation, the only way for us to go is the way of the will of God. Going the way of the will means going towards the fulfillment of an ideal world.

What is this will of God based on? It is based on love. The unity of husband and wife is not centered on the husband or the wife, but on love. In the same way the unity between parents and children is not centered on the parents or the children, but on love. If the unity between husband and wife centered on love is possible, so is the unity between parent and child and likewise the unity between God and man.

What God wants is not material. He wants an ideal family that is united on the basis of love. Love is what God really needs. If mankind lives according to the will of God there is no need for religion and prayer. If man lives according to the will one hundred percent, God will be with man. Religion would then be unnecessary. It is only because we are separated from God that we need salvation, and it is only because we need salvation that we need a savior.

Man's basic problem is that he does not know the purpose of his existence as it is willed by God. The most basic problem of mankind is not knowledge, however. It is centered on love. This love cannot be bought with money or power, but still God needs this love. What kind of love is it? True love. What is true love? True love is love that does not start from the individual. In Korea the leader who is able to love the 40 million people more than himself will be the true leader of the country.

We know the universe moves according to the purpose of God. What is the purpose of the universe? If we look at the way the universe is organized we can see that the central principle is that the individual unit lives for the sake of the whole. The destiny of the individual is to live for the family, the family for the tribe, the tribe for the nation and the nation for the world. If the nation lives according to that destiny it is qualified to receive the blessing of the whole world. The world should live according to the heavenly destiny. How can we do this? This is only possible if we become one with God. The final destination of our lives is to become one with God.

If we live according to the heavenly destiny we are qualified to receive complete protection from God. What then is the core element of this protection? Is it God's knowledge? It is centered on love. If we live for the greater unit we receive its protection. If we live for our family, we are bound to receive the protection of our family; if we live for the country, we receive the protection of the country; if we live for the world, we receive the protection of the world; if we live for God, we receive the protection of God.

Only if our love is based on true love can it create real happiness. If the love between husband and wife is not rooted in true love it is on shaky ground and is bound to create unhappiness. Only if true love is the root of our love can happiness be produced, even for God. In history, love has not been rooted in true love, so true happiness has never been achieved.

Only when the relationship between God and man has entered into a true relationship where there is an absolutely vertical connection will there be a love which is impossible to separate. On that foundation the horizontal axis of love will be matched with a perfect 90 degree angle. Only then can true love start to spread.

There can be only one parent in that absolute vertical position. That is the true Adam. He becomes the vertical parent of all mankind. In front of that vertical parent, horizontal parents will be connected. Why is there a need for horizontal parents? God is our vertical Father who has created us centered on true love. When God created us, He created the vertical direction in our mind and the horizontal direction in our body. The vertical direction itself already contains the concept of horizontal, just as the idea of right is inherent in the idea of left, and front in back, etc.

God created the mind as the vertical. Thus implicitly there must be a horizontal-that is our body. To find a clearly defined direction you need two axes. God created a vertical parent, true Adam. Around the vertical parent, the horizontal parents are grouped and achieve the clan, national and worldwide levels.

The horizontal level is the level of multiplication. On the horizontal level we can achieve the four directions of north, south, east and west and make a complete circle. When the vertical position is set up by the inseparable relationship between God and true parents, then the plane of love on the horizontal level can be established.

When God is in our relationships, He calls us to come to the center. If He is in our marriage relationships, love calls us to the center even though the husband is in the east and the wife in the west. Love is not something that is in us, but it is in the center of all our relationships.

Religion has so many rules. In our church we say that we have to fulfill our responsibility on all levels and even take responsibility for the liberation of God. Why is it so complicated? It is because we have to restore love on all levels. Peace without love has no meaning, unity without love has no meaning, freedom without love has no meaning. True freedom is only possible with love. Our own body and mind are only free if they are united and the unity is only possible through love.

All the ideologues and activists who are working for the liberation of the world are not free themselves while there is conflict between mind and body. All talk about liberating the nation or the world is in vain.

True freedom can only exist where there is unity and harmony. Nowadays people talk about free nations and free societies. But they all neglect that point. Is America really the land of the free? America began as a nation under God centered on Christian values. Look at it today. In some cities a woman cannot walk in the streets alone after dark. Is that freedom?

There is a natural order. Look at the four directions. How do they come into place? Only by the east, west and south taking their proper places does north come into being. There is a natural order. The Unification Church stands for the unification of religions, but does it unify religions really? Can you unite all the religions? Is your mind and body united? First mind and body must be united for the individual to be able to devote himself to something bigger.

What place is closer to God? The pocket of the father who spends all his money for the mission or your own pocket which spends all the money for yourself? The place closer to true goodness is the one that represents all directions, not just one. By using money for the nation Father establishes all four directions, not just one.

How can the Unification Church unite religions and the world? It can do it if it is centered on one focal point, the vertical relationship with God. All the levels are related to this point. What is the subject of my speech today? The tribal messiah. What is the messiah? The messiah is the savior of love, the person who brings man back from the fallen way that is opposed to the purpose of God.

Because man has fallen and the wrong center and wrong relationships have been established, the restoration is complicated. How can we bring man back to the true relationship with God? The Unification Church can only bring the world back into a true relationship with God by cutting the relationship with the wrong direction and connecting to the true center.

In the Unification Church we have to connect ourselves to the vertical God and the vertical parents and become the horizontal parents who achieve a perfect 90 degree angle to that axis.

The messiah is the person who can become the vertical true parent. From there the true liberation of the individual can begin. Liberation can only start from the point of the establishment of the true vertical parent. The liberation of the self can only be based on the unity of body and mind centered on true love.

We talk about the liberation of North Korea, but the liberation of the nation is the fifth or sixth level after the liberation of the individual, family, tribe and so on.

Liberation is only possible through unity. The individual can achieve liberation through unity of body and mind. The family can be liberated by the unity of the family members. True liberation can be achieved by unity focused on a greater unit.

The Unification Church members in Korea say they are too busy working to support their families to work for the unification of Korea. I say they should sacrifice for the sake of the nation. But they want to work for the unity of their family first.

If I sacrifice my own family for the sake of the nation and sacrifice all Koreans, including all the Moon family and relatives, will I succeed or fail?

The course which will have lasting success is the one which sets the tradition. The individual who can set the tradition for the course of the family or the nation or world will be the one that will prosper. The true tradition of individual-level love is one centered on the family. The true tradition for the family is one that is centered on love for the tribe, the greater group. The true tradition of the nation would be a love centered not on the nation, but on the world.

If you want to be a successful leader of a nation, you have to be ready to pay the necessary indemnity to set the course. Do you think (former South Korean President) Chun Doo-Hwan failed because he wanted to? He certainly wanted to do well but he failed. He did not find the way. President Park Chung-Hee before him was also unable to establish a true tradition. What about Father? Has he prospered or has he failed?

Until now, the political parties and governments of Korea have opposed Father. But they have diminished and the Unification Church has not. The established churches have opposed the Unification Church, but they will not prosper.

The reason Father has not failed until now is because he knows God's principle, which is: If you are opposed, don't fight. Then you will rise and they will decline. There are many examples in God's creation of how He uses opposition to bring progress. For example, in winter the ground in the northern hemisphere freezes. When water freezes it expands and breaks open the ground. The seeds can thereby penetrate the ground and come out in the spring. You can see how God planned it all so beautifully. Likewise, Father never fought the opposition. He let the opposition break the surface so he could prosper through the openings it created.

Man has to love the earth, he has to love creation, man and God. But how can we love God? We cannot really love God with original love because of our fallen state. We need a messiah who can restore our love to the place of original love.

God's providence is such that through establishing the vertical parent, He sets up the religion which can guide the nation. God's providence was for Judaism to take that role centered on the true parent. The plan was for the nation to unite with that religion. Rome was supposed to unite with Judaism.

The providence was for the messiah in the center to unite Cain and Abel horizontally. The unification of mankind is only possible with the vertical in the center. Christianity has lost the vision of the vertical parent. Modern theologies like liberation theology neglect the fact that the vertical relationship is necessary. Liberation of the individual, classes and nations are only possible based on the unity of the individual and classes and so on. True liberation is only possible centered on the messiah. We have to become messiahs who can bring liberation by connecting ourselves completely to the vertical center and then establishing the horizontal in a 90 degree angle.

If a man himself comes into the position of this vertical point and achieves the qualification to be the messiah, does he need a wife? If a man is in the position of a true father he can only become father through his wife. He cannot be a father by himself. He needs a wife who also establishes the absolute vertical direction in herself. Only through their unity do they finally achieve the positions of mother and father.

True unity is only possible by establishing a true center where left and right can meet and unite. The philosophy of our Unification Movement is not left-wing or right-wing, but headwing. Only if there is a head can the left and right unite. The head is God.

The philosophy of Reverend Moon is for the individual to find this vertical relationship with God and on that basis to establish a perfect horizontal angle.

Since Satan has occupied the horizontal level from the individual to the world, indemnity had to be paid on all levels so that the horizontal direction could be restored. That is the reason Reverend Moon has gone the worldwide course of indemnity for 40 years.

Father had to go to the very edge of the horizontal axis and receive persecution to bring all levels back to God. Whenever Father came out of prison the Unification Church was lifted to a higher level. Through the indemnity of prison Father received the persecution of that level. In Danbury he received the persecution of the American nation. He went through it and when he came out the whole movement went on to a higher level. Just the fact that 7,000 ministers from America, the most developed country, came to a backward country like Korea to study the thought of Reverend Moon is amazing. How can you explain it?

Father is directing enemy nations to love each other. There is much animosity between Japan and Korea. Father is asking the Japanese members to love Korea more than their own country.

When the Israelites came into Canaan they were not very cultured. They envied the people living there. The second generation of Jews thought that rather than marry their own they would marry Canaanites who were wealthy and sophisticated. This led to many problems.

Father is now matching Koreans and Japanese. Japan cannot complain and say that Reverend Moon is making Japanese members give up their traditions and adopt Korean ways because we are living in a time of freedom when people can marry who they want. The nations cannot complain any more when I do this. The time is coming when national governments will send congratulatory telegrams. The time will come when Father matches 20,000 or 30,000 couples at a time.

In Korea men in some parts of the countryside have difficulty finding brides. There was a story in the newspapers of a man who committed suicide because he could not find a bride. There were 500 young men in the village who couldn't find brides. There is an easy solution. In Japan there are 800 Japanese sisters awaiting matching. If the young Koreans want to solve their problem, they should join the Unification Church and get the blessing!

Nobody can really oppose Father's matching people as he wants because he is disconnecting them from the Satanic line and connecting them to the bloodline of True Parents. Nobody can oppose that. Father is one man in history who has fought with Satan on all levels and been victorious. There is no one on America who can now oppose Father.

I have suffered and established the course of indemnity throughout my life. Am I attractive or not? My wife has to suffer more than any wife. Mother is so small, yet she has worked so hard and suffered because of me. Who has suffered the most in history to find just one true woman?

Why do you think I am paying so much indemnity just to match men and women together to become Unification couples? All of the problems of the sins committed by men and women have to be solved. Such a huge amount of complicated problems have to be solved.

To create the unity of husband and wife is only possible through God's love. To establish that tradition of God's love requires tremendous indemnity. Father has never withheld his love from anybody. Father has never even wished for something bad to happen to Kim Il-Sung. Many Koreans hope he will die soon, but Father thinks differently. Kim Il-Sung is the false parent in Korea. Until Koreans give more love to True Parents than to the false parent, God does not want Kim Il-Sung to die. Father wants Kim Il Sung himself to be subjugated by True Parents' love.

If I condemn someone that is a terrible judgment; therefore, I do not do it. When I condemn someone, then God condemns them, so I don't do that. I never condemn Mother. I just wait and let things go their course. In Korea our movement has established the Segye Il-Bo (daily newspaper launched February 1st), and now the major papers, the Chosun Il-Bo and the Donga Il-Bo, are very careful about what they say regarding the Unification Church. They have been very critical in the past. Even though Father does not condemn them, they are already condemned by themselves.

Are you confident that you can save yourself, your parents, your brothers and sisters, your nation and the world? Who is the true master of the Unification Church? You are all fake. You are only true if you truly establish the vertical relationship with God and the horizontal relationships with your surroundings, your family and so on.

There are many who criticize Father for claiming he is the messiah. Anytime they want to be the messiah and are willing to pay the indemnity, however, they can go right ahead. But no one is prepared to receive the inheritance from Father.

Today my topic is the tribal messiah. You know how difficult it is to be the tribal messiah. Do you think you can go the way of true love without a leader, a guide? The course you have to follow is for your body and mind to become one, your couple to become one, your family to become one. Then you can unite your tribe.

Even if you have a leader or guide, you still have to do your five percent responsibility. If you don't fulfill your five percent completely, the leader can't help you.

Would you like to prepare your family and invite Father to your home? Father won't come because the spiritual world would complain. Father cannot go to an individual now. Father does not pray for a sick person. My cousin, President Moon, asked me to pray for his mother. A medium told him she is angry in the spiritual world because Father did not pray for her. But Father cannot do that. He prays for the nation and world because the providence is on that level. Before God has a nation and world, Father cannot pray and ask God to act for the sake of one individual.

The providence of the tribal messiah could only be established after Father had sacrificed the family and tribe for the nation and world. Three years ago, after Father had paid indemnity for 40 years, the Moon clan asked Father to be their leader. Since Father became the head of the Moon clan, the tribal messiah providence could start. That is the basis for you to become tribal messiahs. Now is the time for you to go back to your home area to your relatives and family members who have sacrificed for the sake of the world. You must ask them with tears for forgiveness for not having loved them during this time and in that way restore them.

Father is the worldwide messiah and the nation has to welcome him. Will you yourself welcome Father and give him a great party? Without understanding Father's direction, none of the policies or efforts for unification can be successful. Father has prepared on all levels, spiritually, economically, technologically. Father is now working for the development of China, bringing the technology and know-how from the developed world.

Father already has the master plan for the unification of the world. He is now concentrating on China, but he also has plans for India and Russia. Some Koreans think they can go the direct way to open up North Korea, but they have to be very careful. The best way is through China and Russia.

Father wants the Unification Church to be absolutely centered on the vertical direction. Only in that way can we break from Satan. In front of the heavenly principle of the vertical parents we have to establish ourselves in the absolute perpendicular position and, anchored on that central point, we have to go out to the evil world and restore all levels of individual, family, clan and nation and bring all of them back to God.

Father has invested everything to restore the world back to God. The Unification Church has to go that way. Father has given the Unification Church of Korea an annual budget of $750,000, but he has invested millions for the sake of the established churches. Now the established churches do not have the power to attack the Unification Church. Even the nation does not have the power to overcome the Unification Church.

What is this year's motto? It is the unification of Korea. What comes after that? The unification of South and North. The unification of Korea means that all of South Korea has to unite with True Parents more than North Korea is united with Kim Il-Sung. Based on that, the unification of Korea can take place and, on that basis, the unification of the world can take place.

The established churches think their power comes from knowing the Bible, singing hymns and praying. Do you think they can defeat the Unification Church? We know the Bible better than they do. Do you have confidence in that? Do you remember when we sang the same hymn hundreds of times over? We have spent many nights in all-night prayer vigils. We win on the prayer front, too.

You have to understand the source of Father's power. Father has gone out to the world. He went to America to the end of the satanic world to pay indemnity. Now he is coming back and the world must follow him. He has established the condition for America to follow him. Now the world is following Father to Korea.

Until now there were no tribal messiahs. To achieve it you must establish the absolute vertical relationship with True Parents then establish the unity as an individual, couple and family.

People are now realizing that what Father says comes true. Father's plan is really clever. When the 90 degree angle is established at the center, then however far you go out on the horizontal axis, you can relate to the center.

There is nothing to fear. All who oppose us will be punished by the spiritual world. The spiritual world gives them the disease by making them feel uncomfortable and then shows them the cure, which is to follow the unification movement.

The time will come in Korea when everyone will become members and those who did not will have nowhere to go.

Father has blessed 21,000 couples worldwide. They represent the foundation that Jesus could not establish. Jesus himself could not receive the blessing and establish the family foundation. But now the unification Church members have already received the blessing and have children. Only by becoming parents can the messiah actually be the root of mankind. Only then can the providence of God multiply. Now the Unification Church has multiplied to 21,000 blessed couples.

In Korean politics there are regional factions, like the Kyongsang province faction centered on Kim Yong-sam, but in the Unification Church there are no factions. The Unification Church blessed families represent all mankind. If at the time of Jesus the six prepared couples of his family had united, he would not have had to go his public course. He would have married and, based on the unity of his own physical family, the Jewish nation could have united with him. Now the unity of the family of Jesus, including the family of John the Baptist, is represented worldwide by the 21,000 blessed families.

Now I have directed tribal revival meetings to be held worldwide. We don't have anything to fear. We already have the worldwide foundation. We have to follow the direction of the worldwide tribal revival meetings.

Now Father has gone out to the world and returned to South Korea and is sending out the South Korean members to be tribal messiahs. The era of Korea has come. The world Unification Church members want to have blessing with Korean partners because they want to participate in the providence of Korea and share the blessing God is giving to Korea now. All the families Father blesses now are like ancestors of new royal lineage. So therefore the members do not object if Father matches them across national, racial or cultural boundaries.

Because True Parents have established the focal point of true love all the horizontal levels of family, tribe and society will automatically come to form around True Parents. Different ideologies and philosophies are losing their strength. As they decline, the Unification philosophy is emerging and finally it will be the only one left and the whole world will automatically follow it. When you go out as tribal messiahs, you have to follow the course of true parents, the path of indemnity, the path of tears and sweat and liberate yourself, your family and your tribe. When you shed your blood, sweat and tears for the sake of the world your course can never fail.

When you go to your home area you have to dedicate everything to your relatives to restore them even if you have to sell your house and belongings to hold a party for them. You must win their hearts. In order to establish yourself as a tribal messiah you need to restore three families on the vertical level-your own family, your parents and grandparents-you need three families on the horizontal level. You have to love your tribe with the heart of love for the nation. If you are in the center, your love has to go in all directions to the extreme end. As you love the world, you must love God; to love the nation, you love the world; you must love the nation to love your tribe. This way it is impossible for Satan to take any part away. Your love for your partner and children has to equal your love for the nation, the world and God. If your love for your partner is not connected to God through all the levels then Satan can invade and take away that love.

That is why the Japanese members are mobilized to deliver the newspaper and sell McCol. That is the preparation and condition for the providence of the tribal messiah to succeed.

Father wants to send 2,000 members to China. Rev. Kwak, are you finding out which members can participate in a mobilization to China?

Those whose hometown is outside Seoul, stand up. Those who will not go to your home areas to restore your family will lose the qualification of tribal messiah and will even lose the blessing. Korean church leaders whose hometown is outside of Seoul, but whose mission is in Seoul, should change their family register to Seoul so that they can establish their tribal messiahship in Seoul. The end of this lunar year is the deadline for you to start your tribal providence. The providence of Israel's entrance into the land of Canaan to establish the twelve tribes is being restored through the tribal messiah providence. Now is the time for the Unification Church to establish the heartistic entrance into Canaan. If you fulfill the tribal messiahship, the Kingdom of Heaven can be realized in Korea. Once again, those who will go, raise your hands. Let's pray.

Col. Han: Father's midnight sermon lasted from midnight until 5 o'clock in the morning and then at 5:20 a.m., Father held a worship ceremony, after which he cut the cake. Then he commenced the God's Day morning speech:

Today is the 21st anniversary of God's Day, which was established on January 1, 1968. The Unification Church's four main holidays are the Day of All Things, Children's Day, Parents' Day and God's Day. Their significance is based on God's three blessings -- the perfection of the individual, couple, parents, children and ownership. Which day is most important? Actually, all four holy days are one, each a part of the four position foundation. If Adam and Eve had reached perfection, the joyful day they would have received God's Blessing in matrimony would have been God's Day, as well as Parents' Day, Children's Day, and the Day of All Things. The original God's Day would be the day we celebrate God's creation. In all of creation the depth of God's investment of love is very visible. In restoration, however, the four days had to be established one by one ending with God's Day. The human fall came in the perfection level of the growth stage. Therefore the seven-year suffering course Mother and I went through together after 1960 was the period to cross from the growth stage into the perfection stage. It was during this period that I installed Parents' Day, Children's Day, and the Day of All Things.

God's providence has been to restore a country centered on God, where the person that God raises is in the subject position. The constitution would be heavenly law, centered on God. However, because individuals have been centered on Satan, then the family, tribe, and nation have also been centered on Satan. Since the national level has belonged to Satan, all the religious leaders raised by God have been opposed by authorities of the state. Jesus was crucified by the courts of the nation.

Create a Right Angle

The stage for the fight with Satan is on the individual level; the unity between body and mind. The mind represents the vertical, the body represents the horizontal direction. If a complete right angle is formed, a spherical, harmonious shape is created. But if we slant even one degree, we become Satan's arena. Many times the body doesn't act according to the mind's direction, and that is when the problem begins in the individual, and can be passed on to become a serious problem of lineage.

If God represents the absolute vertical, then who will represent the absolute horizontal of mankind? True Parents. In the physical world, we see that the orbit of the planets, day and night, and the seasons, although changing, are in an unchanging p -t tern. In the spiritual world there also must be a center around which an unchanging orbit can be described. Then on what basis can the vertical direction from God and horizontal direction from True Parents be united? When we are constructing a building, it is most important that the vertical lines are exactly vertical. Then the building is strong. Therefore, only when the vertical axis is completely centered on God, with our body intersecting our mind at right angles, will Satan have no place in that individual.

When man and woman meet each other, should the husband run toward the wife or vice versa? They should meet in the center. Power, money, knowledge or false love may tempt either away and then the vertical line is bent. But acting with true love means they will never leave the vertical direction coming from God.

God is without substance and form, and the same is true for love. Have you ever touched love? Love, even though it is not tangible nor part of the physical world, completely permeates both the physical and spiritual worlds and is something we cannot live without. Love connects and unites the vertical and horizontal. It is a constant, eternal thing because it's give and take forms a spherical action. This power of love becomes like a cement which unites the spiritual and physical worlds and bonds the spiritual world with God. Love is the source of power, so especially if we want to do something that requires much energy, then we need much love.

Love travels extremely fast, and has such impact that one individual can whisper love to another and the other will experience it as thunder so loud that it shakes the entire earth, and lightning so powerful that it makes everything fearful. There are many kinds of love: love for friends, between couples, and between parents and children.

Make God Laugh and Cry

The reason why people all over the world are crying out to God is that God is living for the sake of mankind. If we want to catch and hold on to God, we must live in the same way as Him, living for the sake of others. Which is more attractive: someone who can make God laugh, or who can make God laugh and cry? How wonderful to be able to move someone to laughter and to tears. The family where the husband and wife have not loved each other to the degree that they make each other cry with overflowing happiness, is an unhappy family. Do you think God would like to live in our families? When you go to America, they have senior citizen homes. These people are very miserable, because they would much rather be with their grandchildren than living a life of comfort.

The love that brings two young people together to hold hands, or two old people, is the same attractive kind of love. Think about the love which is felt and expressed between a grandfather and grandmother who are 100 years old, as they hold each other's hands and are concerned about each other. Such a love is even deeper and stronger than the explosive love between young men and women.

Love is not the power to compare, but rather is the power to unify and integrate. When we achieve the level of true love, then we've gone beyond race and nationality and enter the fourth dimension. No matter what background a person has, no one can do without love; it is indispensable. God's love cannot be exchanged even with God Himself. God is precious but God's love is more precious than God Himself. Who says so?! God says so!

What can move the Korean or any race to become crazy with enthusiasm to love their country? A tremendous amount of knowledge? An incredible sum of money? Only the power of love can motivate the Korean people to become patriotic towards their own country.

The Unification Church Blessing is now only on the church level. Since the world is still within the realm of Satan, in the future we must also go through the national and world levels of approval. Until True Parents can see a united mankind, the world-level blessing will not be fulfilled. After that, we go into spirit world, are accepted as blessed members and belong to one of the twelve tribes. Together with Father the blessed couples can settle down. Those who live indebted become servants, those who help other people are given the master's position.

Follow My Pattern

The kind of heart which I have qualifies me to be what I am. You must understand the background of my life and follow that pattern. I never buy clothes for myself -- I always want to give what I have to beggars I see on the street. In America, while traveling thousands of miles, I ate at McDonald's rather than at more expensive oriental restaurants. Everyone is watching from the spirit world. You cannot just take things for your own selfish use. In my life of faith I went through so much suffering that I heard God cry with me. Through this I learned the heart that can love billions of people. We have to win our enemy so that he will voluntarily acknowledge he was saved by us. We cannot get into heaven until we get that recognition from our enemy. If you don't follow the tradition I've set, we cannot succeed.

When you are in a harmonious environment, everything is beautiful and joyful. But even in prison I never become depressed, because I have always trained myself to overcome the obstacles in front of me. God's strategy is to be struck first by Satan and then to take ownership. Historically this formula is repeated numerous times. We must become the kind of person who could sit in a prison looking at the water coming out of the rainspout and wish he could heat that rainwater up in a bathtub and give God a relaxing bath rather than worrying about his own misery. When we have that kind of a heart towards God, we will be intimate with Him. Then God's Day will become your day, my day, our day.

Once we experience God's heart then we become accustomed to experiencing His love. As we truly experience it one time, two times, ten times, we don't have to try anymore. A life of God's heart and love means love you live and experience, empirical love, not love you only think about or discuss. A vertical relationship with God is even stronger than a mother-child relationship. I am a person who always communicates with God. I can feel what God feels, so we are literally the same in that way, like resonant bodies. When God hears something, it will sound the same way in my mind and heart. I have been living as such an object to God all of my life. I could persevere through suffering the deepest hell on earth only because I know how much God needs me. Only through us can He regain His lost children. We must be more serious than God about His dispensation or else we cannot make God laugh or cry.

Mother and I always feel we wish we could do more for our members; we feel sorry when they suffer. I am very sympathetic, but I am never indebted to our members. I pray for those Unification Church brothers and sisters who are waiting in a communist jail to be tortured or executed. My prayer is not an ordinary prayer -- it is from a heart that incarnates misery.

Winning Our Homeland

In the history of restoration, we can see how much Abel has suffered at the hands of Cain. How much frustration must have accumulated in the heart of Abel, but Abel should never let it force him to forget that only by love can Cain and Abel be united. Only by forgetting the pain and afflictions can we unite, and only by loving our enemy can we be true sons and daughters of God. We can receive salvation only as we endure through suffering with no bitterness or lasting resentment.

When you see many houses while riding in an automobile through the city or in the countryside, you should yearn to go into each house and talk freely to them about God, His love and suffering. With such a serious mind, your deepest joy would be to teach them and experience their understanding and acceptance.

Anyone who does not have his Fatherland centered upon God is really a miserable, pitiful person. There is not much suffering for us Unification Church members to go through from this time on. I will ask church leaders to go to their hometown neighborhoods, or t'ongban, and bring all of their relatives and neighbors to revival meetings there. In Korea, a province is comparable to a state, kun is comparable to county, myein is village, and the smallest unit is a t'ongban. We want to work at the most grassroots level -- to go to any house and give the message of God there. We will make them aware of the need for the unification of Korea. Such a movement is now going on in Korea.

You have to fulfill your mission so that your ancestors will be proud of you. Don't forget that I asked you to march forward with me. Let us pray.

Notes on Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Midnight God's Day Speech 1989

The following is a compilation of Col. Sang Il Han's translation of Peter Kim's notes in Korean and of Bernard Quant's translation while Father was speaking in Korea. We present them with Col. Han's guidance:

Since these are excerpts there is some discontinuity in the flow of thought, but please try to read the heart between the lines. Father prayed and then spoke for five hours starting at midnight, Jan. 1, l989. Five hours is summarized in 10 pages.

Father's prayer: Our Loving God, now we are ending the year of l988 and are about to receive the new year of l989. We look back at the restoration of the family, tribal and national levels during the last 43 years. Since Korean Christianity did not fulfill its mission, God had lost all the internal as well as external foundation which He had built through Christianity over the last 2000 years. As a result, for 43 years many people had to endure a bloodstained, difficult way. We had to indemnify the course of the fall in the last 43 years. During this tremendously suffering time the Unification Church has gone the route of the wilderness.

Now we have won the victorious result. We are truly grateful to God who has helped us to achieve this goal. Until this time, I have worked to establish the foundation for the restoration of the world centering on the United States. Now I am bringing that foundation right back to Korea, and this is the beginning of the time to restore the world on the horizontal plane. In going about this mission, each and every Unification member has to be brave and bold and have confidence in the fact that he can accomplish his responsibility. Our direct mission from God is to establish His sovereignty on the face of earth which He intended at the beginning of the creation.

[Col. Han interjects: Father's motto this year is the Unification of Korea. Last year's motto was the Unification of the Fatherland. In thinking this over Rev. Pak and I thought that last year's motto was more general, conceptual, and this year it is more precise and concrete.]

Excerpts of notes from Father's speech: Because of the fall, we became unable to inherit God's direct lineage, so restoration from the individual to the world level has been necessary. Only after the Unification Church emerged on the face of the earth has mankind been introduced to the full reality of God. Until that time we had no complete understanding of God or of the fact that we had inherited a blood lineage centered on Satan.

God's ideal is a world that reflects and is completely united with His personality. God's original plan was to establish a family with true parents who would resemble Him, and through these true parents, He would establish the ideal world. But as the Principle explains, the environment we face now comes from relationship with evil ancestors and is dominated by Satan.

The world of God cannot exist with the world of evil. In the world that God wants, from the beginning to the end, all human beings would be linked and harmonized through the true love of God; no one would be left out. The world should be like one big tree; the life of the tree is analogous to love in human society. In the tree, the root, trunk, leaves, twig -- all parts have to be directly connected to the source of life and each part is vital for the life entity itself. If just one cell of the tree is taken away, then that tree tries to restore the cell with other parts of the tree. In our body, though each individual has billions of cells, those cells are not independent and separate but are united as one. In exactly the same way, a world centered on true love is a world where all parts are protected and restored by the whole. All mankind should be connected from east to west, north to south, front to rear, in all conceivable directions; there are millions of people, but essentially they should be linked as one.

We should unite together centering on God's love. God did not create mankind out of His whim, but rather as an unavoidable necessity. He had to create human beings. His love was so great that He could not help but to create sons and daughters. There is not anything which the omnipotent God does not own, but though God can have anything else if He really wants to, even God cannot have love without having an object of love. Alone, He cannot have love, therefore He created his sons and daughters for the give and take of love and beauty and the relationship of true love. As a son needs a father in order to exist, a father needs a son in order to be a father.

The most tragic experience in human life is to lose one's child. The moment a man loses his child is the saddest, most painful time of his life. When our children die then we experience the depth of our love through the grief we feel. There are as many kinds of grief as there are kinds of love.

Even though there are many external changes throughout history, the fundamental contents of that history should not change. No matter how many millions of years may pass, still man's life has to follow the pattern that God has established. The true love relationship between the husband and wife should be unchanging. Who are true children?

The children who have inherited the true nature of their parents are the true children -- ones who take after their parents exactly; as adults they will become completely united in heart with their parents. Without parents there is no life and no love, but also there are no parents without love. Therefore, we are a product of history, coming not only from our parents' love, but from the deepest eternal root of their love, which comes from God throughout history. Think about who were the parents of Adam and Eve.

Have you ever seen or heard of anyone in history who said he didn't need love? Look at the life of human beings. When you become old and look back at your life, can you make any meaning out of your life without love? Love occupies the most important portion of our life. Ultimately, all men and women strive to receive love. Now there are many demonstrations in Korea, but historically we have never heard of anyone who demonstrated against love, or said "I don't need love, love go away."

Everyone wants praise and success. Would you rather receive praise from the president of a country or from an eternal being? Everyone would like to get compliments from God! How wonderful if God would say to you, "You are an attractive man or woman!"

Love desires to expand to embrace the largest things and also to concentrate and reach in to touch the smallest things. Love is like magic. In love you can act any way you want to, and it's still okay. Have you ever seen children wanting to walk into their parents' room but first checking whether it is proper or not? They just go right in and connect directly in love. Would a mother chase away a child who comes running for love? She would embrace the child no matter how ugly he or she may be. If a husband is tired and upset, and his wife tries to embrace and comfort him, would he reject her? If there is a spring rain of true love, then all children of the world would want to go out in that rain and open up all their pores to be drenched to the skin.

No matter how noble a holy man's teaching may be, unless true love is included in it, it will not create an eternal ideal. Things like money, power, or knowledge cannot show how to make a true person or an ideal world. However, false love that is centered only on the self is the most destructive force. Without true order, love gets out of hand and becomes the greatest obstacle to an ideal world. If we make a mistake in the expression of love, it is not only that generation, but also the hundreds of thousands of generations after that which are going to suffer. The fruit does not bear itself, but comes on the branch of the tree. I will have to harvest the fruit that I sowed through you. For the second generation, and the younger generations in general, maintaining their chastity is crucial in determining their future. We have to make a world where the third generation is completely free from evil and there is only one sexual love relationship--that between husband and wife. Restoration can never be possible or fulfilled unless a man can withstand the temptation of a naked woman in the same bed with him. Before you love your wife, love yourself so that your mind and body are united and ready to give and receive love with your wife. When the mind and body are immersed in the love of God, then you become an entity that can resonate or vibrate in the same way as God vibrates. Resonance occurs when a certain noise vibration causes another object to vibrate in the same way. Love has the quality of resonance; in other words, if someone embodies love, the other person feels the love right away. For Unification Church members to be God's race, we must be able to resonate with God's love and bring the world toward God.

Which do you think travels faster, nerve stimuli or love stimuli? Love. The yearning of a man toward a woman and the yearning of a woman toward a man should be equal. In other words they should not be unbalanced. If the man loves the woman more than the woman loves the man, that is not good.

Many scholars in the world call Rev. Moon the minister who teaches the philosophy of love. I am causing trouble by slapping the world with true love. The world is in confusion because all the love is horizontal. It needs to be centered in a vertical direction.

Many Oriental women may love a person very much yet they may never say "I love you" or express their feelings as long as they live. That is considered an Oriental beauty or virtue. By contrast, western women are very expressive and tend to immediately say anything they feel.

Do you think God loves love? By looking at the order and phenomena of nature, we can understand that God too must like love. If we talk about love very dearly and very seriously, then all the cells of our body start laughing. When I talk about love, I could speak for 20 hours! The only power that can stop the fight between mind and body is the power of true love. True love can only be achieved when a true subject finds an object which truly responds to that subject. You should live like that. A true strong united love is so powerful that it is the only thing that can tell God what to do or not to do. Even God has to submit to it. Love is eternal. We have to direct our mind to crave eternity. If it doesn't, then love has to urge it to look for eternity.

Women are like a field of soil and men are like a seed. The seed determines what plant grows while the field affects how well it grows.

Even if you have a degree, don't be proud of it. We have to give everything to achieve oneness with God. I've lived with that determination and attitude. Those who oppose me will fail.

Now there is the so-called "theology of the masses." But how can you make a theology of the masses if you don't understand the central need of the masses? How can those theologians preach liberation when they have not even achieved their own liberation?

If you want to become the object of the love of God then you have to be like God, who is one. Only if we are one within ourselves do we have the qualification to be the true object of God. I've cried billions and billions of tears and gone through worldwide persecution. Why? For God. Because I know God needs an object of love. How many tears have you shed for God? I have cried so much that when I woke up in the morning I could not look at the sun because my eyes were so swollen. When that happened the grass, trees, and rocks all joined to comfort me and wipe the tears off my eyes. I have lived this kind of life for so many years.

You may think that Rev. Moon achieved a worldwide foundation and now is heading to North Korea and we will ride on his back. Do you think you can receive God's love by going the easy way? Only if you put your life on the line and go the way of death can you receive God's love -- only if you are willing in your heart to die. God needs an absolute object for his love. If we cannot become the true object of God we cannot enter into God. Jesus said love God and love your neighbor. So loving God is first. We should love God absolutely and then love our neighbor. If you love absolutely then you can pass the exam and become an object for God. If you just listen and do not take my words seriously, you cannot reach the world of love. How much do you think God is suffering, longing to find His absolute object?

Can you imagine what the 43 years of suffering in my course have been like? How miserable my course was? How there was no one to help me? I am very serious when I speak like this. If you want to inherit the foundation, you must deeply understand the course of True Parents -- the insults, the persecution, the hardships they experienced. You don't know the tribulation God has gone through to find an object of true love. God created the world by investing Himself totally, not holding Himself back. In this world where there is so much evil and so many disturbances, think about the great energy and perseverance that was needed to connect with God.

How great is the happiness when God finally finds His object and the electric current of love can flow? Who has been able to console Him in tears? Rev. Moon has lived his life to comfort God for His thousands of years of suffering, tears and pain.

The Unification Church has to inherit this foundation. This is so serious. How many times have we stumbled and fallen and had to get up again and continue on the way? Whenever I was down, I told God, don't worry about me. I understand that the persecution and hatred I have received is because fallen man lost the connection with God. I told God not to worry.

Do you really love God? Do you want to make God your own personal God? God is not the God of Rev. Moon or some minister or church. You should feel: He is my God. I must love God more than anyone else. God has to become the God of ourselves. We have to start by making God our own God before we make Him our family, society nation or world God. We cannot enable Him to be a world God unless He is first a personal God.

Now we are in Satan's possession and lineage -- even our hands are under his possession. The world today with all its realities has to be taken away from Satan. This world is a museum of evil. Do you want to make God's display? There is no other way but to become an absolute object to God with an absolute vertical relationship.

I have fulfilled my responsibility. If I just speak and do not fulfill then I have to be ashamed. When I was young I bought my clothes from the used clothes store. I didn't wear new suits like you wear today. Until members are 30 years old they must establish this tradition. They need not live in a comfortable environment. Unification Church members have to go the way of sacrifice, giving up their personal comforts. Father has been never able to sleep even one night with his arms and feet relaxed all throughout his life. You have to know the strategy of God. The more we are hit the more we can grow and advance. The person in world history who has received more persecution than anyone is Rev. Moon, not Hitler or Mussolini.

I know the things that are going on in the church. I ignore many things, but I know. I am a man who is taking responsibility for all mankind, for all nations. I lost my parents, my son. I've lost so many things to Satan. But the things Satan took are not because of my failure, but because people around me failed.

The unification of Korea is not achieved by itself, automatically. America, Japan, the Soviet Union, and China must be in a certain agreement before the unification of Korea can be achieved. Without the unification of Korea, providentially the USA and USSR cannot survive. Korea should not feel that it is running out of time to accomplish this unification. Just as bearing fruit takes a certain natural amount of time, the same is true for the unification of Korea: we should not be impatient. We should be confident, patient, hard-working, and very serious.

If Koreans will not accomplish the task of the unification of Korea, then foreigners will accomplish its unification. This is a warning to the Korean people. Even though the Japanese people are still going strong, if they don't help Korea, they are going to decline. Knowing this, Father asked several thousand Korean-Japanese couples to work for the sake of Korea as a condition so that Japan will continue to prosper and not perish. When a person or country receives some benefit or favor from somebody, that person or country must seriously remember that and try to pay back or return it to the benefactor.

Thousands of intelligent Japanese were not only willing to be matched with a Korean woman or man whose face they had not even seen, but also were so grateful that they shed tears. If any Unification Church member does not feel profoundly stirred deep in his heart when he realizes what happened at the October 30, l988 Blessing, then he is not a Unification Church member at all. When the sun rises, even the insects, even the groundhog who lives under the ground, will direct their eyes into the sun. How much more should you realize what blood and tears True Parents gave to enable this historical Blessing to occur. Mother as well as myself has established the foundation through a bloody trail of indemnity, putting her life on the line. But the war has not ended yet. If you want to win, you have to make God your own God. We can do this by living like True Parents. We should even transcend the love which True Parents have for God.

The Unification Church has gone over the hill of persecution. When I shouted from the top of my lungs that l988 was the year when we would overcome worldwide persecution, how many people believed it? Now, as much as we sow in terms of hard work and activities, we will harvest. Even if we may be wounded, we cannot afford to die. That is what a Unification Church member is like.

Seven thousand members will be mobilized to begin a holy fight on the utmost front line in Korea. If John the Baptist, centering on Jesus, had gathered together 7,000 people and educated them, then Jesus would not have had to die on the cross. But he couldn't gather even 70. In America 7,000 civic and political leaders have been trained in the Principle. This is like the external foundation of 7,000. But those coming to Korea will be an internal army. In order to establish the external foundation I had to go to America, a land which was like the wilderness.

The foundation has been established so that the unity between America and Korea can achieved after four more years. If the unity between established Christianity and the Unification Church had been achieved 40 years ago, we could have reached the world level in seven years. But instead, I had to go through the 40 years all alone. You have to know your value, the value of being in the Unification Church and the value of having Rev. Moon as your leader.

If you want to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven you have to adjust yourselves, just as when you go to another country you have to adjust to their ways of living. From now on we have to prepare ourselves and family. We have to become descendants who can worship God and follow the heavenly tradition. Without that foundation you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. You want to make God your God, but how can you do that -- with money? No, only with true love. True love is love that is existing completely for others -- for mankind, the world, and God.

Many people who are waiting for the Second Advent are completely dedicated to a religious life, but they are mistakenly looking towards the clouds. How much they will envy you! Since you are fortunate enough to know about the Second Advent, if you don't fulfill your responsibility, how much accusation will you receive from your descendants?

This next four-year period is of the utmost importance. If American leaders and administrators do not keep their promise to heaven and do not go according to the heavenly way, America will perish. There cannot be a Korean Unification member who denies the world tradition. Everyone must follow.

From now on, all Unification Church members must exemplify our tradition to your own relatives, so that they come not only to respect you, but adore you. The family in which the individuals are ready to give everything for each other is the very textbook where you learn how to love while you are on earth: this is the kind of love we need for the whole world. When I was a student, I made every effort to understand the suffering of people in all walks of life: laborers, farmers, fishermen, miners. I did not go home during my first school vacation. I wanted very much to see my hometown, but didn't. I stayed in my rented room in Seoul and shared the suffering of the people around me. I still cannot forget that in my early 20's, when I was going to school, with a student cap, I visited a prostitution house and talked to the prostitutes about what human life is and what they should be doing. I do not forget that serious time when I tried to teach even prostitutes the true way of life. Love does not wander around; it travels the shortest distance and then jumps right into things. I believe there cannot be true liberation until we can sit with God, comfort Him, and cry real tears of joy together. I teach you to go the difficult way and to sacrifice, so that you can receive this liberation.

All Unification Church members must repent for and break from their past life during which they lived according to their own idea and will and make a new beginning centering on God and His idea. Become an individual who can be the advocate, the spokesman for God, His representative. What kind of God is God? God is the vertical parent based on true love. But with only the vertical axis He cannot move around, He needs a horizontal axis -- True Parents -- to move horizontally. Jesus was the person who came to establish the vertical center of true love. But this was lost at the crucifixion. When Jesus was crucified, there were criminals on both the right and left. Therefore, the Lord of the Second Advent must become one with both the left and right.

Before the position of true parents can be restored, the position of Able has to be restored. In the beginning of my course, America and Korea were in the position to establish this foundation. But the failure of the American and English missionaries, Korean Christians and national leaders to unite with Father meant this foundation was lost. Therefore Japan took England's place as the Eve country.

This is the reason communism gained tremendous influence. Only now has it begun to decline. Do you think I know the way politics will go in the future? I also know the future economics and theologies. We are now making a world Bible. We have to establish a cultural institution that makes the patterns for a new culture, and we will make a new encyclopedia of the world. Now I am being respected by economists and scholars. I have fulfilled my responsibility to raise you; now you have to raise the young people, the new generation.

The task of l989 is to gather 7,000 members from around the world to love and to serve the Korean race so that they will follow God's will. Even if our own children are hungry, still we must support these 7,000 brothers and sisters so that they can serve the Korean nation. In the future we should be able to feed North Koreans. When unification of North and South Korea is achieved, then the unification of East and West Germany can be achieved in three years, and on that foundation the unification of the world also becomes possible. Without educating the people of China we cannot decisively benefit the world. Soon several thousand elite Unification Church members should serve in China. The unification of Korea must be achieved in four years, starting in l989. At this beginning of l989 make your resolutions. Will you become a filial child or be a burden? We can achieve harmony and go to the Kingdom of Heaven only if we make God our personal God.

Father's benediction:

I am now taking my first step forward in this new moment of the new year, toward the restoration of the Fatherland. No matter how high the standard of people in the satanic world, our standard has to be higher in yearning for God, in loving God, and in serving God. We have to have a higher dedication than anyone else in the world. God is calling the Unification Church to establish the heavenly tradition of love and to direct our life and yearning toward the heavenly country, or heaven on earth. The course which God has given to Unification Church members is to be the missionaries for peace, the people who work for peace all over the world.

Korea must become a beacon of light that can illuminate neighboring countries as well as itself. Let us be the people worthy of this heavenly mission and style of life. Also, help Unification Church members to become worthy of the name of heavenly citizen. With all of our energy let us serve True Parents and serve God. Let all Unification Church members become like that. We want to offer the 365 future days of l989 to you. Father, allow us to do that. Allow us to liberate this earth and heaven centering on love. Bring all countries into unity and let us dedicate them to our Parents. God, bless us in these four years to come during which time we will race towards the goal of achieving the unification of Korea.

Col. Han: Father's sermon lasted from midnight until 5 o'clock in the morning and then at 5:20 Father did a worship ceremony, after which he cut the cake. Then he commenced the God's Day morning speech:

This is the 21st anniversary of God's Day, which was established on January 1, l968. The Unification Church's four main holidays are the Day of All Things, Children's Day, Parents' Day and God's Day, whose significance are based on God's three blessings -- the perfection of the individual, couple, parents, children and ownership. The principle which governs these four celebration days is the same -- if Adam and Eve had reached perfection, the joyful day they would have received God's Blessing in matrimony would have been God's Day; as well it would have combined Parent's Day, Children's Day, and the Day of All Things. In restoration, however, the four days had to be established one by one ending with God's Day. The human fall came in the perfection level of the growth stage. Therefore the seven years Mother and I went through together after l960 was the period to cross the growth stage to perfection stage. It was during this period that I installed Parents Day, Children's Day, and the Day of All Things.

We say our goal is the individual level, family level, race level, but these are not our goal. Our goal is at least the national level. Therefore, how to go to this national level has been the focal point of God's restoration history. In each individual the mind is a vertical extension of the parent's love. It should be like a bone, which does not change, and it has a conscience which is also constant and eternal. The body is the horizontal extension of the parents' love, external -- like the flesh which can change. It can be big or small, firm or soft. When our body intersects our mind at right angles, 90 degrees, like principle, then Satan has no place in that individual. But if you slant even one degree, it becomes Satan's arena, Satan can dance on it. Many times the body doesn't act according to the mind's direction, and that is when the problem begins in the individual. If it is passed on, then it becomes a serious problem of lineage.

God is the invisible subject of our parents' lineage, our lineage. We talk about the unity of God and men -- becoming one with God -- but what does that mean? God has no body. We have only a body, but where do we connect with God? Does God become happy and allow us to become one with Him because we have lots of money and dedicate that money or because we know so much? The invisible or spirit world is the world beyond time and space, and it is immense, unlimited. It is a spherical world so eternity becomes possible. True love, which is invisible but still very much there, is the only power that can create eternity. The word love also is conceptual, it does not have a form. We cannot see it or touch it or do anything with it, but nevertheless it is a real entity so indispensable that we cannot do without it in real life. Love is the source of power, so if we want to do something that requires much energy, then we need love.

Love is not something which just pops out suddenly and fades suddenly. It began millenniums ago, and it will continue for millenniums from now. Love is a constant, eternal thing. It is eternal because it forms a spherical action. This very power of love becomes like cement, a bonding agent, which bonds the spiritual and physical worlds. It is invisible, yet it is more real than anything else. Love itself is formless, but it can express itself in many forms. Also, it travels extremely fast. Which is faster, the speed of light or the speed of love? Naturally, love is faster. Love has such impact that an individual can whisper love to another and the other will experience it as if it is thunder so loud that it shakes the entire earth, and lightning so powerful that it makes everything fearful. Which do you think is more powerful, lightning or love?

What can move the Korean (or any) race to become crazy with enthusiasm to love their country? A tremendous amount of knowledge? An incredible sum of money? Only the power of love can motivate the Korean people to become patriotic towards their own country. And only love can bring the spirit world together and unite them.

Love is not a power to compare, but it is the power to unify, to integrate. No matter what background a person has, no one can do without love; it is indispensable. If there is something that can make God either cry or laugh, what would that be? It could only be love. And that love can decide which direction it will go in. Without it the emotions would run away undirected. Think about the love which is felt and expressed between a grandfather and grandmother who are 100 years old, as they hold each others hands and are concerned about each other. Grandmother is concerned about the grandfather's well-being and he about hers. Such a love is deeper and stronger than the explosive love between young men and women. So love knows no time difference, no space difference, no age difference.

The only way to grab God and keep Him someplace is to bind him up with the power of love, not with rope. God's love cannot be exchanged even with God himself. God is precious but God's love is more precious than God Himself. Who says so?! God says so! A wife who has never been able to make her husband cry because of love is not a successful lover.

The Unification Church blessing is on the church level. In the future we must also go through the national and world levels of approval. Then we go into spirit world, are accepted as a blessed member and belong to one of the twelve tribes. Then together with Father the blessed couples can settle down; we have a position to occupy. Those who live indebted become servants, those who help other people are given the master's position.

God's strategy is to be struck first and then to take ownership. Satan strikes first and then gives up territory. Historically this formula is repeated numerous times. There are many parents who treat True Parents as their enemy, but their own children are dedicating themselves to this enemy with their life. What a wonderful vindication this is!

We must become the kind of person who could sit in a prison looking at the water coming out of the rain spout and wish he could heat that rainwater up in a bathtub and give God a relaxing bath rather than worrying about his own misery. Unless we have that kind of a heart towards God, Unification Church members will not have anything to do with Him. At that time, God's Day will become your day, my day, our day. So, we have a goal to strive to celebrate God's Day.

Would God want to live with us in the human world? Love has the ability to expand or to shrink. It can make any form, it's very free, it can go straight or it can go in spherical motion. Love can do anything, anytime. Once we experience God's heart then we become accustomed to experiencing God's love. Once we experience it one time, two times, we don't have to try. The life we live is God's heart and love. That is empirical love, love not in concept or discussion but the love you live and experience. When you have that empirical love, then you can live in God's love literally by resonating it. Father is a person who always communicates with God. Always Father can feel what God feels, so they are literally the same in that way, they are like resonant bodies. When God hears something, it will sound the same way in Father's mind, in Father's heart. Father has been living as such an object to God all his life.

Our True Parents always feel pity towards our members." I wish I could do more for our members; I feel sorry I make them suffer so much." Father always feels sorry in that way towards our own members. But Father is never indebted to our members. He is very sorry to make us suffer and sympathetic, but that is not because Father owes us anything. Father prays for those Unification Church brothers and sisters who are waiting in jail in the communist world for the day to be executed for treason or whatever. That prayer is not an ordinary prayer -- it is a prayer of the incarnation of misery. God has certain dispensational work to accomplish and we must be more serious than God about that dispensation or else we cannot make God laugh or cry. We have to win our enemy so that he will voluntarily acknowledge he was saved by us. We cannot get into heaven until we get that recognition from our enemy.

Someone who does not have the Fatherland centered upon God is really a miserable, pitiful person. There is not much suffering for us Unification Church members to go through from this time on. While riding in an automobile, through the city or in the countryside, you see many houses. Then you wish if I could only go in and talk to them about God and about God's love and God's suffering freely, if only I could teach and share with them, they would nod and accept us! How wonderful if they accept us! Don't you want to become such a missionary -- with a mind so serious that you feel if only I could go into every house and talk about God, how wonderful that would be.

From this time on, Father will ask church leaders to go to their hometown area and bring all of their relatives and neighbors and do revival meetings there, in that town or village -- or tongpan. Tongpan refers to the smallest administrational unit. In Korea, province is comparable to state, kun is comparable to county, myun is village, and under myun is tongpan, which means neighborhood. One pan maybe composed of 20 or 30 homes, and ten more would make it a tong. We want to work at the most grassroots level -- to literally go to any house and give the message of God there. Such a movement going on in Korea and we have home church in Korea too. They will integrate together, and eventually reach all Koreans to introduce them to God's heart. Based on that, we will make them aware of their immediate need for the unification of Korea.

Midnight Prayer

Our Loving God, now we are ending the year of 1988 and are about to receive the New Year of 1989. We look back at the restoration of the family, tribal and national levels during the last 43 years. Since Korean Christianity did not fulfill its mission, God lost all the internal as well as external foundation which He had built through Christianity over the last 2,000 years. As a result, for 43 years many people had to endure a bloodstained, difficult way as we indemnified the course of the fall. During this tremendously suffering time the Unification Church has gone the route of the wilderness.

Now we have won the victorious result. We are truly grateful to God who has helped us to achieve this goal. Until this time, I have worked to establish the foundation for the restoration of the world centering on the United States. Now I am bringing that foundation back to Korea, and it is the time to restore the world on the horizontal plane. In going about this mission, each and every Unification member has to be brave and bold and have confidence in the fact that he can accomplish his responsibility. Our direct mission from God is to establish His sovereignty on earth which He intended at the beginning of the creation.

Col. Han: Father's motto this year is the "Unification of Korea." Last year's motto was the "Unification of the Fatherland." In thinking this over, Rev. Pak and I thought that last year's motto was more general and conceptual, and this year it is more precise and concrete.

Midnight Speech

Because of the fall, we became unable to inherit God's direct lineage, so restoration from the individual to the world level has been necessary. Only after the Unification Church emerged on the face of the earth has mankind been introduced to the full reality of God. Until that time we had no complete understanding of God or of the fact that we had inherited a blood lineage centered on Satan.

God's ideal is a world that reflects and is completely united with His personality. God's original plan was to establish a family with true parents who would resemble Him, and through these true parents, He would establish the ideal world. But as the Principle explains, the environment we face now is related to evil ancestors and is dominated by Satan.

The world of God cannot coexist with the world of evil. In the world that God wants, all human beings, from the beginning to the end, would be linked and harmonized through the true love of God; no one would be left out. The world should be like one big tree; the life of the tree is analogous to love in human society. In the tree, the root, trunk, leaves, twigs -- all parts have to be directly connected to the source of life and each part is vital for the life entity itself. If just one cell of the tree is taken away, then that tree tries to restore the cell with other parts of the tree. In our body, though each individual has billions of cells, those cells are not independent and separate but are united as one. In exactly the same way, a world centered on true love is a world where all parts are protected and restored by the whole. All mankind should be connected from east to west, north to south, front to rear, in all conceivable directions; there are millions of people, but essentially they should be linked as one.

We should unite together centering on God's love. God did not create mankind out of His whim, but rather as an unavoidable necessity. He had to create human beings. His love was so great that He could not help but to create sons and daughters. There is not anything which the omnipotent God does not own, but though God can have anything else if He really wants to, even God cannot have love without having an object of love. Therefore He created His sons and daughters for the give and take of love and beauty and the relationship of true love. As a son needs a father in order to exist, a father needs a son in order to be a father.

The most tragic experience in human life is to lose one's child. The moment a man loses his child is the saddest, most painful time of his life. When our children die, then we experience the depth of our love through the grief we feel. There are as many kinds of grief as there are kinds of love.

Even though there are many external changes throughout history, the fundamental contents of that history should not change. No matter how many millions of years may pass, still man's life has to follow the pattern that God has established. The true love relationship between the husband and wife should be unchanging. Who are true children? The children who have inherited the true nature of their parents are the true children -- ones who take after their parents exactly; as adults they will become completely united in heart with their parents. Without parents there is no life and no love, but also the parents themselves must come from love. Therefore, we are a product of history, coming not only from our parents' love, but from the deepest eternal root of their love, which stems from God throughout history. Think about who were the parents of Adam and Eve.

Inherit True Love

Have you ever seen or heard of anyone in history who said he didn't need love? When you become old and look back at your life, can you make any meaning out of your life without love? Love occupies the most important portion of our life. Ultimately, all men and women strive to receive love. Now there are many demonstrations in Korea, but historically we have never heard of anyone who demonstrated against love, or said, "I don't need love; love go away."

Everyone wants praise and success. Would you rather receive praise from the president of a country or from an eternal being? Everyone would like to get compliments from God! How wonderful if God would say to you, "You are an attractive man or woman!"

Love desires to expand to embrace the largest things and also to concentrate and reach in to touch the smallest things. Love is like magic. In love you can act any way you want to, and it's still okay. Have you ever seen children wanting to walk into their parents' room but first checking whether it is proper or not? They just go right in and connect directly in love. Would a mother chase away a child who comes running for love? She would embrace the child no matter how ugly h€ or she may be. If a husband is tired and upset, and his wife tries to embrace and comfort him, would he reject her? If there is a spring rain of true love, then all children of the world would want to go out in that rain and open up all their pores to be drenched to the bone.

No matter how noble a holy man's teaching may be, unless true love is included in it, it will not create an eternal ideal. Things like money, power, or knowledge cannot show how to make a true person or an ideal world. However, false love that is centered only on the self is the most destructive force. Without true order, love gets out of hand and becomes the greatest obstacle to an ideal world. If we make a mistake in the expression of love, it is not only that generation, but also the hundreds of thousands of generations after that which are going to suffer.

For the second generation, and the younger generations in general, maintaining their chastity is crucial in determining their future. We have to make a world where the third generation is completely free from evil and there is only one sexual love relationship -- that between husband and wife. Restoration can never be possible or fulfilled unless a man can withstand the temptation of a naked woman in the same bed with him. Before you love your wife, love yourself so that your mind and body are united and ready to give and receive love with your wife. When the mind and body are immersed in the love of God, then you become an entity that can resonate or vibrate in the same way as God vibrates. Resonance occurs when a certain noise vibration causes another object to vibrate in the same way. In other words, if someone embodies love, the other person feels the love right away. For Unification Church members to be God's race, we must be able to resonate with God's love and bring the world toward God.

Some scholars in the world call Rev. Moon the minister who teaches the philosophy of love. I am causing trouble by slapping the world with true love. The world is in confusion because all the love is horizontal. It needs to be centered in a vertical direction.

Many Oriental women may love a person very much yet they may never say "I love you" or express their feelings as long as they live. That is considered an Oriental beauty or virtue. By contrast, western women are very expressive and tend to immediately say anything they feel.

Women are like a field of soil and men are like a seed. The seed determines what plant grows while the field affects how well it grows.

Do you think God loves love? By looking at the order and phenomena of nature, we can understand that God too must like love. If we talk about love very dearly and very seriously, then all the cells of our body start laughing. When I talk about love, I could speak for 20 hours!

The only power that can stop the fight between mind and body is the power of true love. True love can only be achieved when a true subject finds an object which truly responds to that subject. You should live like that. A true strong united love is so powerful that it is the only thing that can tell God what to do or not to do. Even God has to submit to it. Love is eternal. We have to direct our mind to crave eternity. If it doesn't, then love has to urge it to look for eternity.

How Many Tears Shed for God

If you want to become the object of the love of God then you have to be like God, who is one. Only if we are one within ourselves do we have the qualification to be the true object of God. I've cried millions and billions of tears and gone through worldwide persecution. Why? For God. Because I know God needs an object of love. How many tears have you shed for God? I have cried so much that when I woke up in the morning I could not look at the sun because my eyes were so swollen. When that happened, the grass, trees, and rocks all joined to comfort me and wipe the tears off my eyes. I have lived this kind of life for so many years.

You may think that Rev. Moon achieved a worldwide foundation and now is heading to North Korea and we will ride on his back. Do you think you can receive God's love by going the easy way? Only if you put your life on the line and go the way of death can you receive God's love -- only if you are willing in your heart to die. God needs an absolute object for His love. If we cannot become the true object of God we cannot enter into God. Jesus said to love God and love your neighbor. So loving God is first. We should love God absolutely and then love our neighbor. If you love absolutely then you can pass the exam and become an object for God. If you just listen and do not take my words seriously, you cannot reach the world of love. How much do you think God is suffering, longing to find His absolute object?

Even if you have a degree, don't be proud of it. We have to give everything to achieve oneness with God. I've lived with that determination and attitude. Those who oppose me will fail.

Can you imagine what the 43 years of suffering in my course have been like? How miserable my course was? How there was no one to help me? I am very serious when I speak like this. If you want to inherit the foundation, you must deeply understand the course of True Parents -- the insults, the persecution, the hardships they experienced. You don't know the tribulation God has gone through to find an object of true love. God created the world by investing Himself totally, not holding Himself back. In this world where there is so much evil and so many disturbances, think about the great energy and perseverance that was needed to connect with God.

Make God Your Own Personal God

How great is the happiness when God finally finds His object and the electric current of love can flow? Who has been able to console Him in tears? I have lived my life to comfort God for His thousands of years of suffering, tears and pain.

The Unification Church has to inherit this foundation. This is so serious. How many times have we stumbled and fallen and had to get up again and continue on the way? Whenever I was down, I told God, don't worry about me. I understand that the persecution and hatred I have received is because fallen man lost the connection with God. I told God not to worry.

Do you really love God? Do you want to make God your own personal God? God is not the God of Rev. Moon or of some minister or church. You should feel: He is my God. I must love God more than anyone else. God has to become the God of ourselves.

We have to start by making God our own God before we make Him our family, society, nation or world God. We cannot enable Him to be a world God unless He is first a personal God.

Now we are in Satan's possession and lineage -- even our hands are under his possession. The world today with all its realities has to be taken away from Satan. This world is a museum of evil. Do you instead want to make God's display? There is no other way but to become an absolute object to God with an absolute vertical relationship.

I have fulfilled my responsibility. If I just speak and do not fulfill then I have to be ashamed. When I was young I bought my clothes from the second hand clothes store. I didn't wear new suits like you wear today. Until members are 30 years old they must establish this tradition. They need not live in a comfortable environment. Unification Church members have to go the way of sacrifice, giving up their personal comforts. Father has never been able to sleep even one night with his arms and feet relaxed. You have to know the strategy of God. The more we are hit, the more we can grow and advance. The person in world history who has received more persecution than anyone is Rev. Moon, not Hitler or Mussolini.

I know the things that are going on in the church. I ignore many things, but I know. I am a man who is taking responsibility for all mankind, for all nations. I lost my parents, my son. I've lost so many things to Satan. But the things Satan took are not because of my failure, but because people around me failed.

Historical Korean-Japanese Blessing

The unification of Korea is not achieved by itself or automatically. America, Japan, the Soviet Union, and China must be in a certain agreement before the unification of Korea can be achieved. Without the unification of Korea, providentially the USA and Soviet Union cannot survive. Korea should not feel that it is running out of time to accomplish this unification. Just as bearing fruit takes a certain natural amount of time, the same is true for the unification of Korea: we should not be impatient. We should be confident, patient, hard-working and very serious.

If Koreans will not accomplish the task of the unification of Korea, then foreigners will accomplish its unification. This is a warning to the Korean people. Even though the Japanese people are still going strong, if they don't help Korea, they are going to decline. Knowing this, Father hopes that several thousand Korean-Japanese couples will work for the sake of Korea as a condition so that Japan will continue to prosper and not perish. When a person or country receives some benefit or favor from somebody, that person or country must seriously remember it and try to pay back or return it to the benefactor.

Thousands of intelligent Japanese were not only willing to be matched with a Korean woman or man whose face they had not even seen, but also were so grateful that they shed tears. If any Unification Church member does not feel profoundly stirred deep in his heart when he realizes what happened at the October 30, 1988 Blessing, then he is not a Unification Church member at all. When the sun rises, even the insects, even the groundhog who lives under the ground, will direct their eyes into the sun. How much more should you realize what blood and tears True Parents gave to enable this historical Blessing to occur. Mother as well as myself has established the foundation through a bloody trail of indemnity, putting her life on the line. But the war has not ended yet. If you want to win, you have to make God your own God. We can do this by living like True Parents. We should even transcend the love which True Parents have for God.

The Unification Church has gone over the hill of persecution. When I shouted from the top of my lungs that 1988 was the year when we would overcome worldwide persecution, how many people believed it? Now, as much as we sow in terms of hard work and activities, we will harvest. Even if we may be wounded, we cannot afford to die. That is what a Unification Church member is like.

Seven thousand members will be mobilized to begin a holy fight on the utmost front line in Korea. If Jesus, through John the Baptist, had gathered together 7,000 people and educated them, then he would not have had to die on the cross. But there were not even 70. In America 7,000 civic and political leaders have been trained in the Principle. This is like the external foundation of 7,000. But those mobilized in Korea will be an internal army. In order to establish the external foundation I had to go to America, a land which was like the wilderness.

Know True Parents' Value

The foundation has been established so that the unity between America and Korea can achieved after four more years. If the unity between established Christianity and the Unification Church had been achieved 40 years ago, we could have reached the world level in seven years. But instead, I had to go through the 40 years all alone. You have to know your value, the value of being in the Unification Church and the value of having Rev. Moon as your leader.

Many people who are waiting for the Second Advent are completely dedicated to a religious life, but they are mistakenly looking towards the clouds. How much they will envy you! Since you are fortunate enough to know about the Second Advent, if you don't fulfill your responsibility, how much accusation will you receive from your descendants?

This next four-year period is of the utmost importance. If American leaders and administrators do not go according to the heavenly way, America will perish. There cannot be a Korean Unification member who denies the world tradition. Everyone must follow.

If you want to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven you have to adjust yourselves, just as when you go to another country you have to adjust to their ways of living. From now on we have to prepare ourselves and our families to worship God and follow the heavenly tradition. Without that foundation you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. You want to make God your God, but how can you do that -- with money? No, only with true love. True love is love that is existing completely for others -- for mankind, the world, and God.

From now on, all Unification Church members must exemplify our tradition to our own relatives, so that they come not only to respect you, but adore you. The family in which the individuals are ready to give everything for each other is the very textbook where you learn how to love while you are on earth. This is the kind of love we need for the whole world.

When I was a student, I made every effort to understand the suffering of people in all walks of life: laborers, farmers, fishermen, miners. I did not go home during my first school vacation. I wanted very much to see my hometown, but instead I stayed in my rented room in Seoul and shared the suffering of the people around me. I still cannot forget that in my early 20's when I was going to school, with a student cap, I visited a prostitution house and talked to the prostitutes about what human life is and what they should be doing. I do not forget that serious time when I tried to teach even prostitutes the true way of life. Love does not wander around; it travels the shortest distance and then jumps right into things. I believe there cannot be true liberation until we can sit with God, comfort Him, and cry real tears of joy together. I teach you to go the difficult way and to sacrifice, so that you can receive this liberation.

Now there is the so-called "theology of the masses." But how can you make a theology of the masses if you don't understand the central need of the masses? How can those theologians preach liberation when they have not even achieved their own liberation?

Make Your Resolutions

All Unification Church members must repent for and break from their past life during which they lived according to their own idea and will, and make a new beginning centering on God and His ideal. Become an individual who can be the advocate, the spokesman for God, His representative. What kind of God is God? God is the vertical parent based on true love. But with only the vertical axis He cannot move around; He needs a horizontal axis -- True Parents -- to move horizontally. Jesus came to establish the vertical center of true love. But this was lost at the crucifixion. When Jesus was crucified, there were criminals on both the right and left; therefore, the Lord of the Second Advent must become one with both the left and right.

Before the position of True Parents can be restored, the position of Abel has to be restored. In the beginning of my course, America and Korea were in the position to establish this foundation. But the failure of the American and English missionaries, Korean Christians, and national leaders to unite with Father meant this foundation was lost. Therefore Japan took England's place as the Eve country.

This is the reason communism gained tremendous influence. Only now has it begun to decline. Do you think I know the way politics will go in the future? I also know the future economics and theologies. We are now making a world Bible. We have to establish a cultural institution that makes the patterns for a new culture, and we will make a new encyclopedia of the world. Now I am becoming respected by economists and scholars. I have fulfilled my responsibility to raise you; now you have to raise the young people, the new generation.

The task of 1989 is to gather 7,000 members from around the world to love and to serve the Korean race so that they will follow God's will. Even if our own children are hungry, still we must support these 7,000 brothers and sisters so that they can serve the Korean nation. In the future we should be able to feed North Koreans. When unification of North and South Korea is achieved, then the unification of East and West Germany can be achieved in three years, and on that foundation the unification of the world also becomes possible. Without educating the people of China we cannot decisively benefit the world. Soon several thousand elite Unification Church members should serve in China. The unification of Korea must be achieved in four years, starting in 1989.

At this beginning of 1989 make your resolutions. Will you become a filial child or be a burden? We can achieve harmony and go to the Kingdom of Heaven only if we make God our personal God.

Father's Benediction

I am now taking my first step forward in this new moment of the New Year, toward the restoration of the Fatherland. No matter how high the standard of people in the satanic world, our standard has to be higher in yearning for God, in loving God, and in serving God. We have to have a higher dedication than anyone else in the world. God is calling the Unification Church to establish the heavenly tradition of love and to direct our life and yearning toward the heavenly country, or heaven on earth. The course which God has given to Unification Church members is to be the missionaries for peace, the people who work for peace all over the world.

Korea must become a beacon of light that can illuminate neighboring countries as well as itself. Let us be the people worthy of this heavenly mission and style of life. Also, help Unification Church members to become worthy of the name of heavenly citizen. With all of our energy let us serve True Parents and serve God. Let all Unification Church members become like that. We want to offer the 365 future days of 1989 to you. Allow us to liberate this earth and heaven centering on love. Bring all countries into unity and let us dedicate them to our Parents. God, bless us in these four years to come during which time we will race towards the goal of achieving the unification of Korea.

Mobilizing the Spirit World

The Day of the Victory of Heaven

Through the victory [at Washington Monument] we fulfilled the conditions needed to liberate the sorrow of the entire spirit world and the physical world together. I declare today that the time has come for the total liberation of the spirit world and the forgiveness of past sins....

Spirit world is now besieging people on earth. To them the world is small, almost like the size of an ice cube. A treasure chest has been opened but most people are unaware that a new treasure has been discovered and a new power has been released. Spirit world has opened up, but nobody realizes what has happened.

Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, the separation between the spirit world and physical world stretched miles wide. Even though the people in spirit world wanted to descend to the earth to intervene in the life of the physical world, they could not do it because between the two worlds lay a chasm which was in the hands of Satan. Adam was supposed to be in the father's role, but because he failed then all his children failed. Spirit world could not freely descend until the mission of the father was consummated here on earth, and he could open a path to the spirit world. This is the rule of heaven.

God's plan was to work on the individual level with Abel, then with Abel's family, tribe, nation, and the Abel side on the worldwide level. No one could bridge this chasm during the 4,000 years before Jesus' coming. Jesus came in the role of the father of mankind, and in him the spirit of God was manifested through a perfected man for the first time. At that time God wanted to pioneer a breakthrough in history. Because of Jesus' crucifixion, however, this pioneering task was accomplished only spiritually. That is why the Second Advent became absolutely necessary. The position of the True Father must be established in order to pioneer complete salvation from the individual level to the worldwide level, as well as to open the pathway to the spirit world.

All the wrongdoings and mistakes of the past, including the mistakes of Judaism and Christianity, must be indemnified. The Unification Church thus has a mending mission. By paying indemnity we are mending the mistakes of history in the shortest possible time. You call me the True Parent. Why? Because for you my role is that of a true parent, true father, or Adam. I must mend all of the past mistakes, and step by step bring about wholesome restoration from the individual level to the worldwide level. This was symbolically consummated at Washington Monument, so that the individual failure, family, tribal, national and worldwide failures were mended. Thus I opened wide the highway between this world and the spirit world, so that anyone can ascend or descend without restriction....

Now your ancestors can come down freely on the highway between the spirit world and the physical world. Our ancestors in the spirit world are our allies and will help us witness to others. They will come down in an unprecedented avalanche, like Niagara Falls. They will pressure their descendants, "You must become a champion. Go out and witness. You must do more." They will not only come down to you, but also to their descendants who are not yet members, directing them to go to a workshop, or to meet a person from the Unification Church. This phenomenon will happen increasingly.

In the wake of the victory of Washington Monument a far more jubilant victory celebration is being held in the spirit world because they have now been liberated. Now they can freely come to the earth and work with you, their own descendants. From this time on, when you go out on your mission you will receive all kinds of spiritual experiences -- visions, speaking in tongues and special dreams. Not only you but many people outside our church will experience these things.

We must sway three countries to God; once God can influence at least three nations, the whole world will tumble into His arms. Presently in the spirit world there is a great deal of competition. Because good spirits can descend first, the country which has more good ancestors will be benefited first, directly affecting the destiny of that nation. We are not just mobilizing Christian spirits, but even Jesus himself, as well as Buddha, Confucius and Mohammed. Taking a father's role, they will come down to their own followers on earth. Not many people understand these things precisely, but I can clearly testify to them because I am the pioneer who opened the pathway. What I have prophesied has been fulfilled.... You have one simple mandate from God and from the True Parents: to have absolute unswerving faith. Press forward and work more intensely than in the Washington Monument campaign. Then the power of God and the assistance of your ancestors will come with you. Any amount of spiritual assistance you require will be no problem. You will only prosper.

The meaning of lord of all creation

What is meant by the term "lord of all creation"? Who are the lords of all creation? Some say human beings, but the fundamental Lord of all creation is God. You all know that spirits exist. We all have spirits and, as we are in the top position among spiritual beings, in the final analysis, we are lords of all creation directly connected to God.

Human beings cannot become the lords of all creation on their own. How can they, as created beings, become lords of all creation? All created things are resultant beings standing as [the Creator's] counterparts. As such, they can neither connect in heart with nor possess the origin, but, rather, exist to be possessed by it.

Clearly, we are all resultant beings. The lords of all creation I am referring to are those occupying the central position in the spirit world. I am talking about the originally intended relationship of oneness between God and humankind.

Those lords of all creation are in the position to communicate with God. Although human beings are called the lords of all creation, not everybody is actually qualified to be one. Those who live individualistically are ineligible to join the club of the lords of all creation. Only those who have distinguished themselves by seeking the greater good are eligible. God seeks to fulfill His wishes through such people. When that happens, whose heaven will it be? Not His but theirs. (32-136, 1970.7.5)

How should people live? Eternally. Living some eighty years in this evil world, some people may see no difference between the death of an ant and that of a human being; yet there is a difference. We are different because we are spiritual beings. How is it that we can become the lords of all creation? It is because our mind does not age; it is immutable and therefore carries the highest authority. All other things undergo change; even pure gold weathers away. (159-277, 1968.5.19)

Based on what premises can we be called the lords of all creation? It is neither money, nor knowledge, nor power, but rather God's sublime love. (210-308, 1990.12.27)
