Tribal Messiahship - A Promise Fulfilled

It's 5 o'clock in the morning. As I rise up to thank God for another morning, I am again amazed at what God has given me as a result of the Hometown Providence. As I dress, I think of how it seems like only yesterday that I came here with nothing and now I am meeting with mayors, congressmen and business executives on a regular basis. To me it's a miracle, but to True Parents I'm sure it is just another "Promise Fulfilled".

I came to Detroit with only lint in my pockets and faith in my heart that finally in hometown I would fulfill my destiny. It was only 3 and a half years ago that I was driving a taxi on the streets of Queens, New York wondering if I would ever make anything of my life. I was broke and in debt with three blessed children and a sick wife. I used to think how could I repay True Father for the time and money he invested in me after going to the seminary and then ending up like this. But then came the Hometown Providence.

As a young man growing up in Detroit in the 70's, I used to think I was on the fast track to success. I had all the right friends and was making preparation to attend law school. My goal was to change the city I loved into one in which people could be proud. However, when I met the Unification Church I was happy to forget my plans to work for the higher goals that the church was aspiring toward. But Heavenly Father had not forgotten! Now in my hometown, I see His wisdom. I traveled 360 degrees only to come back with the same goal, but this time with the true ideal of how to accomplish it.

My first day back in Detroit I visited the City Hall. I bowed my head and prayed before a huge statue named the "Spirit of Detroit", that symbolized God holding the city in His hands. I felt a rush of confidence that God was with me and would clear the way for this city's restoration. But how could I digest such a large city? "One bite at a time," came the answer.

The first six months were difficult financially. But thanks to flower selling we didn't starve. During this time I served as chairman of the committee that prepared for True Mother's visit to Detroit on her world tour. Between the endless stream of meetings and church activities, I managed to send out some resumes.

The sacrifice I made to work for the church full time in hometown was a significant indemnity condition. One day the phone rang and unbeknownst to me, a friend of a friend of a friend had received my resume and wanted to interview me. The part time job I was offered was in a small town that I had barely heard of named Ecorse. But what good can come out of Ecorse? Maybe this was the "small bite" I was looking for.

As I started work in Ecorse, a city that had just recovered from bankruptcy, I quickly learned that anything I did for the good of the city was an important work. In my new job as the director of the Coalition of Citizens for a Better Ecorse,(a non-profit housing program), I was only the boss of myself with the mission of turning this new group into an organization. I thank God for the training I received in the Unification Church because in a short time through service and going the humble course I was able to gain the trust of the community. This trust enable me to attract and mobilize supportive people in the community to help with the revitalization of the city. As a result, I was appointed to the position of Director of Housing for the City of Ecorse.

In this new position, I have direct access to the Mayor and other officials. I run a department with six city employees. Everyone knows that I am also a minister for the Unification Church and so far I have had several people I work with over to the center. When asked about how I like Ecorse I often say that ,"In New York I was a small fish in a large pond, In Ecorse I am a big fish in a small pond." But it is not my goal to become an a pompous VIP or big shot. There is enormous potential here for kingdom building. With God's help, I am in a position to influence and participate in the social, economic and political restructuring of the area. Already I am committee chairman of an economic development group for the city and I am a consultant for a group that is working to improve the school system. The problem now is that I am the only Unificationist here.

With my participation in so many activities and organizations I am at the point where I need to bring in help to meet the needs of the city's growth. It is my desire to eventually hire and train people who want to work in this mission. In my opinion, this work constitutes establishing a foundation of substance by actually building God's Kingdom. If there are people reading this who are not afraid to believe that this is possible, they are the ones who can made a foundation of faith by coming to Detroit like I did. I am especially looking for those individuals who have Michigan as their hometown.

Lastly, it is my sincere feeling that Heavenly Father has sent me here to be a Tribal Messiah trail blazer in the area of building communities of restoration. With the experience I have gained as a non-profit housing developer, my goal is to begin a for-profit development company. This company will specialize in constructing intentional communities (see article by Michael Craig) that incorporate a philosophical based life style as the foundation of the community.

Detroit was the recipient of 2.5 billion dollars worth of Empowerment Zone funds from the U.S. Dept. of HUD and corporate sponsors. This money will go to the people who have the most drive and imagination to serve others. The time is right in the Detroit area to dream the impossible dream. I did and it is coming true.

Tongil Moo Do Regional Tournament in NY

by Daryl M. Clarke-NYC

In the spirit of World Peace and True Love the Tongil Moo Do Association under the leadership of Master Kensaku Takahashi and Master Jack Lavalley sponsored an annual Regional Tournament in the martial arts. This two-dayday competition held April 22-23, l995 in the Agora Education Center, Belvedere Estates included participants from five eastern states as well as the countries of Germany and Canada.

The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6).

Saturday, April 22 was a day the students of the children's class will never forget. Thirty youth in a very sportsman like manner took on the challenge of competition. They performed with confidence and good style the exercise called forms. Along with one-step sparring and free-sparring these enthusiastic youth, ages 7-l5 exemplified an indomitable spirit, poise, and a hopefulness that was an inspiration to all parents, relatives and friends that attended to support the future black belts of this Heavenly Art Form.

Each instructor, Master Takahashi (Belvedere), Inst. Takuya Ishiil (Barrytown), Inst. Daryl M. Clarke (Harlem) were proud and inspired by their students investment to become recipients of some of the most beautiful trophies that this writer has ever seen. May the youth press on the upward way!

More powerful than a locomotive, faster that a speeding train, more able to leap tall buildings with a single bound-well, you get the idea. Enter the college and high school students. On the second and final day of competition students from four universities, U.T.S. and various high schools in the New York area stood face to face in free- sparring team competition and individual form exercises.

The spirit was high and the competition was tough. Dr. Jhoon Ho Seuk the Grandmaster and founder of Tongil Moo Do mentioned to over 40 participantes and other spectators, that Tongil Moo Do was created solely for the task of accomplishing World Peace. Dr. Seuk emphasized that all martial art forms need to be raised up to serve the whole purpose of creating a peaceful and harmonious world.

The schools represented were Leipzig University, Germany and Canada (Instructor, Hiroshi Karita), Boston University (Inst. Shota Iwasaki), University of Maryland(Inst. Stephen Doucette), U.T.S. (Inst. Takuya Ishii), University of Bridgeport, Conn. (Inst. David Burton), New York area high schools (Master Kensaku Takahashi) and the New York Women's team (Master Jack Lavalley). Results are listed below. Dr. Seuk and Master Takahashi presented the First Place team championship trophy to the hard hitting and fast kicking German and Canadian team.

Then other teams and individuals stepped up to the front to receive their awards for meeting the challenge of competition. New York Church pastors supported the tournament as judges. Rev. Eric Holt (Westchester), Rev. Daryl M. Clarke (Man-Harlem) along with Inst. Jerry Servito and Master Jack Lavalley were inspired and enthused by each contestant. And, if you blinked you missed the lightening quick and powerful board breaking demonstration given by Inst. Stephen Doucette and his students from the University of Maryland school.

A special thanks goes to the wives and sisters of the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) of Westchester for supporting the tournament by sponsoring a most delicious barbecue after the event on the backyard lawn. Naturally, it was finger licking good!

For more information on the Tongil Moo Do Association classes in your area please contact Master Kensaku Takahashi (914) 332-0627.

The Blessing of God

This is an excerpt from Rev. Pak's book, "Joymakers" (Accord, 1993, available from HSA Publications, 212-997- 0050-xt 251)

The two Greek words translated as forms of the verb "to bless" are eulogeo, "to speak well of," and makarios, "joyful and happy." Sometimes eulogeo has the sense of praying (Matt. 5:44), giving thanks for food (Matt. 14:19, 26:26; Mark 6:41, 14:22), or praising God (Luke 2:28, 24:53; 1 Cor. 14:16; James 3:9).

Makarios is normally translated as "blessed (is)" or "blessed (are)." The meaning of makarios is gladness, joy, and happiness-a joy and happiness of a very divine and holy nature. The blessing of this joy and happiness is not only temporal; it transcends our physical life and is connected to our eternal, spiritual life. There is no worry, no anxiety-only peace in this joy and happiness. It is infinite, noble, good happiness that has as its source a divine, Godly life. The original Greek meaning includes external development or prosperity based on the fruits of moral character.

Makarios brings us the understanding that sin is the source of our unhappiness. In order to be joyful and happy, we need to be healed of sin. Salvation and perfection involve being cleansed of our fallen, sinful nature and receiving our true divine character. To be truly harmonized or connected with makarios is a source of real joy and happiness. Fulfilling makarios in our life is true faith and true love.

The Original Blessings

The first blessings God gave to humankind are recorded in the first chapter of the Bible:

"And God blessed them, and God said to them, `Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.' " (Gen. 1:28)

The three primordial blessings are: (1) "be fruitful," (2) "multiply," and (3) "have dominion." Through these blessings, God endowed humankind with three great gifts: (1) the gift of having the potential and purpose-as evident in our structure and function-of existing in complete unity of being with God; (2) the gift of being created in the complementary dualities of man and woman, masculine and feminine, for the multiplication of joy and to populate the earth with God's sons and daughters; and (3) the gift of having the potential to act as lord over creation in full harmony with God's purpose and the creation's potential.

We call these the Three Great Blessings, for their significance has never been lost, from Eden, to Noah, to Jesus, to our day. They are the eternal, immutable will of God for humankind. They are the basis and standard of blessing. As we shall see, all the blessings God has given to humankind are deeply related to this first utterance of the Father to His children.

People can receive the totality of God's love only through fulfilling these three primordial blessings. These blessings are connected to our very nature as human beings, the very nature of creation, and our relationship with all things. Essentially, our search for love has been the search for the fulfillment of those Three Blessings, the restoration of our lost selves and the lost Garden.

Whenever God made a new species of creation, He saw that "it was good" (Gen. 1:4-31). The very act of creating implies resemblance. The artist feels the deepest joy and satisfaction when the finished work of art closely resembles the ideal he had in mind, when it best expresses his heart and feelings. We can see in the might and vastness of the sea the reflection of God's awe-inspiring power. The mysteries of the night sky reveal something of the hidden jewels of His character. Both the rich, queenly, red rose and a simple sunlit daisy accurately reflect aspects of His boundless diversity.

After creating a universe replete with symbolic representations of His being, God finally created humankind in His own image, resembling the pattern of His own character, with tremendous potential. Man and woman were to be the greatest reflection of God, the crowning glory of His creation. In them was to be embodied all the beauty, all the wisdom, and all the virtues that the rest of the creation only partially revealed. They were to be the living images of God on the earth, walking in the Father's footsteps. Therefore, when God created Adam and Eve, He gave them Three Great Blessings: "Be fruitful and multiply ... and have dominion..." (Gen. 1:28). Had these blessings been fulfilled, the joy of God and humankind and the universe would have been immeasurable, eternal, and constantly evolving toward greater and greater heights of glory.

These primordial blessings were lost due to the human fall. We have only to look at the state of our families and the state of our environment to see that the loving relationships between men and women and the loving husbandry God intended for us to exercise over the garden have been gravely impaired. God's children fell into ignorance and darkness, completely undermining their potential for achieving God's purpose for them. Still God has never given up His original intent (Is. 46:11) for humankind to fulfill the Three Great Blessings. Thus He prepared for the advent of a Messiah to save His children.

As fallen people we cannot fulfill these blessings on our own. The fundamental breakdown of the relationship between humankind and God can be healed only through a God-sent mediator, the Messiah or Christ. Jesus Christ comes to take up the cross of humankind's sin, in order to save humankind. He comes to fulfill the blessings that Adam and Eve failed to accomplish, and to lead all humanity to do the same.

Had Jesus been accepted by the leaders and people of His time, He would have acted as the supreme role model in showing humankind how to fulfill the Three Great Blessings. This means He would have shown us 1) How to become one with God, 2) How to form harmonious, joyful marriages and raise children of goodness to form a community of love that would eventually embrace the whole world, and 3) How to establish a harmonious give and take with the creation.

Tragically, Jesus was crucified and thus prevented from accomplishing this primary will of God. Instead He brought us the benefit of spiritual salvation. The ultimate fulfillment of the Three Great Blessings, however, was prolonged for 2,000 years.

Today, Jesus has called upon and anointed the Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon to act as His representatives in renewing these Blessings to humankind in preparation for the new millennium. The time is at hand when men and women, together with God, can finally fulfill the joyous vision which God intended from the beginning of creation. The gates to the Kingdom of Heaven are open, and God is calling His beloved children to enter.

Blessed are those who hear His call, and happy are those who enter.

Sunday School - Setting Up Your Classroom: Materials, Supplies & Equipment

by Vicki Henry-Minneapolis, MN

When I started teaching Sunday School eight years ago, the first big obstacle that I ran into was a lack of teaching materials. I would visit various religious bookstores but found only a few things of value on the Old Testament and even fewer things that were appropriate on the New Testament. Of course, anything I wanted to teach concerning Divine Principle, True Parents' lives or church history I had to create myself.

Organize your materials

It is difficult to foresee all the teaching aids and supplies you will need when you are starting out. Many times materials are amassed in a "lesson-to-lesson" manner. This is all right as long as you have an organized storage system to save all the work that you do. Depending on the size of your Sunday School, in most cases I would suggest the formation of a teachers' resource closet perhaps eventually graduating to a resource room/office. Things placed there would be available for use by all teachers on a check-out basis.

These materials would include: books, records/tapes, videos, reproducible worksheets, games, posters, audio/visual supplies (such as VCR's, monitors, slide projectors, record players, cassette recorders, etc.) Art and craft supplies I have found, work best if stored in the room they are being used in. If this is not possible then they should be organized in one place that allows everyone easy access. Again. depending on how many teachers you have, it is best that the resource area always be locked with keys given to only the teachers. The reason being that if the Sunday School rooms and supplies are in a building that is constantly in use during the rest of the week, it will prevent your supplies from getting messed up and/or permanently "borrowed."

Ideas for Teaching Materials

To have an effective Sunday School you need exciting lessons. To have exciting lessons you need to be thinking of Sunday School constantly. It should literally become an "obsession." Father has said that if you want to be a good lecturer of Divine Principle you need to prepare three hours for every hour of actual teaching. I would add that the same is true when teaching Sunday School. If you do this sincerely then ideas will begin to flow, for you will have tapped into that spirit world.

It is also important to remember your own past educational experiences (school, workshops, museums, libraries, witnessing, fundraising, your own children, etc.) For those of you with school-aged children, really look at their classroom and school hallways. What's on the walls, on the bulletin boards? How is the room arranged? What kinds of teaching aids are there for the teacher to use? For the children to use by themselves? Find some education supply catalogs. Visit school supply stores. Look at the kinds and formats of books, kits, posters, manipulatives, and so forth. How can these be adapted for religious education?

Recently I have been concentrating on creating teaching units. They each consist of all the necessary materials on a certain topic or theme (posters, worksheets, project directions, suggested videos or books/stories as well as a complete lesson plan so anyone could pick it up and go into a classroom and teach.) The units can be stored either in a folder or box (if there were 3-D items involved.) Then if a teacher wants to teach about Passover/The Last Supper all they need to do is check out the Passover Box from the teachers' resource closet/room and everything is there (a seder plate, matzah, Elijah's cup, text about the meaning of Passover, the symbolism of the food, project ideas, games, etc.). This way anyone can teach Sunday School.

Bible Videos

I must tell you of some excellent Bible video tapes. They are produced by Rabbit Ears, a subsidiary of BMG Kids. Their videos are produced by a minister, rabbi and theologian working together. There are no interpretations. The story facts are all that is told. The art work and music are done by professionals in those fields. These videos have won numerous grammy and parent awards. If you can't find them in your area you can call 1-800-800-3277 M-F, 9:30am-5pm EST. The age range for these videos is 6-18 years.

Classroom Supplies

All rooms should have good quality tables and chairs the appropriate size for your students. Used school furniture is fine, as long as it is not falling apart or has rough edges where children could get hurt. Little Tykes and children's furniture from toy stores are also an option if your Sunday School has only a few children.

You can also make your own bulletin boards out of corrugated cardboard from a large appliance box. Just cut a side out of the box evenly and cover it with white burlap (or even felt, to create a large flannel board as well.) Buy or create a colorful border for it and nail it into the wall. What might cost $80-$90 can be created for under $10!

Buying glue, scissors and crayons for every student can be taxing on a small budget, especially when just starting a Sunday School and so many other things are needed. One way to resolve this is to have each child bring their own box of supplies that will be kept in the room for them to use there. Public school teachers use this technique all the time.

Other basic necessities are: 12"x18" colored construction paper, 12"x18" heavy white drawing paper, any size newsprint, stapler, hole punch, brushes, tempera paint, masking and scotch tape, blackboard, colored chalk, sponges and pails for water. Once you have these then you can gradually expand into various specialty papers, clay supplies, fabric markers and paints, musical instruments, puppets, printmaking supplies, etc. Another resource for supplies include all kinds of recyclables around the house such as cereal and shoe boxes, cardboard tubes, paper plates and cups, scrap material and yarn, straws, newspaper for paper mache, and so forth.

Also, if you live in a large city, many industries will have various scraps of paper, cardboard, plastics, tile, wallpaper sample books, paint, carpet samples, etc. Call around. You'd be amazed at what some people give away.

Pre-schoolers and babies need toys. There are many outlets that sell used children's toys that are practically like new. Check around for these. It is also nice to have a few pieces of new equipment as well. Don't forget the big gross motor activities too when equipping these areas. Look for soft, stackable pillows and slides, play tunnels, parachute play, etc. If you ever leave your children at a child drop- off center for a few hours, look at how they've set up their various play areas.

"Extras"

Ideally your Sunday School place will have a yard that can be fenced so you can have professional playground equipment. One word of caution: Don't get equipment that only big kids can use, but get some that can be used by four-year olds easily. I would not recommend swings of any kind, as invariably little ones will end up getting hit and knocked down, perhaps being injured seriously. Stick with small climbing areas and slides of various kinds and heights. (Remember to always require children to be supervised at all times, especially when outdoors.)

Always be open to the contributions parents and single members can make So many in our church membership have special talents. Debra Sullivan, who is an artist, designed and painted a 10' wall mural for our Sunday School nursery room. It depicts various myths and legends from around the world to celebrate the international diversity of our church. It also really brightens up the room and makes the children feel the room is for them.

In Conclusion

To be successful in establishing all of this, you must be determined to overcome barriers which might interfere with what you know to be so important, especially in getting the use of space to be used exclusively for Sunday School purposes. And be prepared that others, whose authority and assistance you are depending on, may have other goals which are foremost on their agendas and might not cooperate fully with you. Just press on for the changes you know are right but do not come easy and if necessary, be sure to solicit the active and solid support of families to be involved.

Springtime in Korea

by Malcolm & Suemi Allan, Steve & Jerry Tamayo - Seoul, Korea

Greetings from Korea. Spring has come and at long last we are starting to see some color in the fields, leaves on the trees and flowers beginning to bloom. Our students also feel the newness of spring by getting outside to play in the longer daylight hours of evening and by getting away to the mountains when the opportunity presents itself. On April 5, Korean Arbor Day, while the Middle School students were away at school workshop, all the GOP's went to Pukhansan and scaled a local peak called Paegungdae. You can read about this and the school workshop on the following pages.

March closed on a heavenly note with our celebrating True Parents' Day. After morning Pledge, Mr. Lee inspired us all by sharing about the importance and responsibility we each have being members of True Parents' family. He urged us to follow the way and tradition of True Parents. This was followed by cake cutting and every student receiving some holiday treats.

April heralded many changes within the dormitory. As you read this, 18 new students from Japan are settling into dorm life and beginning their 4 years of Prep and Middle School education. They come here with the goal of graduating from Middle School and every year they have been able to boast a high percentage of graduates, who then go on to High School and later University here. Our hope and prayer is that this year more Western parents and students than ever before can set their sights on fulfilling True Father's desire of learning Korean language and graduating Middle School. Also this year we have just as many boys as girls in our program. Traditionally there have been more girls than boys but this year we have 55 each. To accommodate the increased number of boys, a new bedroom has been constructed in what was part of the study room, and an extra study room for girls created out of a bedroom on the girls' floor.

Well, that's the news for this month. We wish you and your families all the best for the coming month and look forward to hearing from you.

Spring Brings Blessing Fever!

by Dan Fefferman-NY/DC

May and June are the traditional wedding months, and Blessing fever is sweeping through Unification communities throughout the nation.

The Big Day itself doesn't happen until August 24th or 25th, depending on whether you go by U.S. or Korean time. In the meantime, gownmakers and Blessing educators are bustling as the fever begins to spread.

In New York, we've been holding one-day workshops to introduce the Blessing practically every week since early March to gear up for the full-scale Blessing campaign. Hundreds of members and guests have attended. Among the lecturers and coordinators have been some of the U.C.'s stellar teachers, including President James Baughman, FFUWP Co- Presidents Farley and Betsy Jones, Regional FFUWP leaders Bill and Lisa Lay, WFWP stalwarts Debby Gullery and Susan Fefferman and Susan's humble husband, yours truly.

The workshops feature presentations on the significance of the Blessing in light of the Principle, a summary of the history of restoration, the role of True Parents, and how couples or individuals can personally benefit from the Blessing. There are also video presentations, testimonies, discussion and-not to forget those vitality elements-refreshments!

In calls around the country, this reporter has detected educational Blessing blossoms in every region. One might even speak of (dare I say it?) REVIVAL!!!

In Los Angeles, CARP and Church members are leafleting together in the neighborhoods of local "Tribal Messiahs" and bringing guests to evening programs.

In Chicago, the Spanish Church reports 30 potential candidates, and non-UC. ministers have pledged to participate and bring members of their congregations.

In Washington, D.C. nine districts are holding evening programs and the central Upshur House center hosts a Blessing dinner each night, Monday-Thursday.

Down on the Bayou (LaBatre, that is), they're planning three workshops per week, one for each section of the community.

And in Las Vegas, a mysterious ad has been appearing in the personals section inviting people to "Relationship Effectiveness Seminars," where people can learn how to "prepare to meet your dream mate."

(Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a match...)

There are even rumor/reports that large groups here in the U.S.A. have received revelations and are now preparing to attend the Blessing en masse.

Momentum is the key concept here. In every region, kick-off workshops have been held to renew members' vision for the Blessing and witnessing. Introductory seminars and evening programs are a growth industry. And at Blessing Central on the second floor of the 43rd Street Headquarters, Betsy Jones reports that applications have increased from the trickle stage to a steadily growing flow. (To judge by the number of Blessing gowns on racks down in that office, they are preparing for a torrent!)

At this writing there are less than four months to go before "B-Day '95." By the time you read this it will be closer to three.

But hopefully by now, the streamlets in your area have also turned into torrents.

Educational aids

Spiritual Reflection - They Imprisoned The Lord Of The Second Coming: This Crime Has Yet To Be Re-dressed

by Carl Redmond-Warilla, Australia

It is a singular and most peculiar problem this world has to face, and more specifically, America. This great nation, blessed by God, committed the grievous sin of actually imprisoning the Lord of the Second Coming. It is a virtually unpardonable crime, which can not be atoned for even if thousands of generations were to pass. With what kind of response-ability do we face such a situation today?

Two thousand years ago Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified on the cross. He had done no wrong, and yet he was treated as a criminal. The world as it was then, received him, rejected, him, digested him, and spat him out as something or someone distasteful. History sighed, lamented and rolled on.

It would take a person lacking in rudimentary intelligence of good manners, to pass off such doings as the "predestined plan of God," even scurrying through the Bible for passages which may seem to support such a viewpoint. If they are so sure, as indeed some Christian ministers are, that such devious actions were "God's will," then perhaps they would do the same thing today if he were to return. It is a shameful thing, when confronted with the truth, to insist that violence is God's Way.

And yet this is precisely what happened. Return he did, yet there was no "Golgotha Hill" awaiting him. Starvation, deprivation, torture, character assassination, mocked by the supposedly intelligent media who portrayed him as a monster, and then in the land of "milk and honey," the Promised Land, America, tried in a court, found "guilty" by a jury, and sentenced by a judge to prison.

The question I would ask is: What kind of sin did he commit, this Only Son of God? What kind of atonement could be offered for so unpardonable a crime? They imprisoned the Lord of the Second Coming. Next thing you know they will be telling us, as before, "it was God's will."

Life goes so very fast for most of us, slipping away in precious seconds, minutes, days, months, years. Before we know where we are, it is surely all finished. In its path, there is nothing, only silence and a landscape waiting to be written on by the few mortals that next get the opportunity to make use of their precious existence on this planet of ours.

Wake up sleeping world! Wake up each one of us! Let us truly realize both in the church and out of it, the unfathomable crimes of humanity. This, the major one, locking up the Lord of The Second Coming, interrupting his precious life on Earth by eighteen months and-for that time at least-throwing away the key!

Each one of us should feel to the bone the responsibility of seeing our Lord suffer. Washing dishes, scrubbing floors, washing dirty dishrags until they became as new, setting tables in a cafeteria. For this purpose he came to the Earth? For this he lived?

Life goes so very fast. There is hardly time to think. Innocent people suffer when others regress. Let us repent most sincerely for the sins of others. At least if we cannot repent for our own misdeeds, we can try by feeling some responsibility for others. In everything there is an internal cause. It is easy to look at others and say "It's your fault." What kind of responsibility do we ourselves take for events that transpired?

There are wrongs to be righted. Up to now, not much has been done to right them. What kind of response can we, as the Unification Community, make to ease the sufferings and indignities of this thorny path?
