Toward the Year 1999

Bill Lay-Queens, NY

This is a transcription of the speech given at the inauguration of the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace.

I was raised in the Catholic church, and I often asked why we have to go to church. Answers were given having to do with serving God, but actually the best explanation I ever heard was given by Rev. Zin Moon Kim, who said that we come to church to make other people happy. Like many things Rev. Zin Moon Kim says, when you think about that, the more you can appreciate it, so your coming makes me happy, and each other happy.

My wife and I are very honored to be following in the track of the Jones family. We actually have a very interesting relationship with the Jones family. Because of the legal career that I was pursuing, we moved up to Albany for a year. Lisa and I both felt the biggest part of being up there was living just a couple of miles from the Jones family, and getting to know them and their children. I felt hope, inspiration and confidence being around that family, particularly the children, because this is what we're most concerned about. To see a family where God was really dwelling and the children were really developing in such a wonderful way gave Lisa and me so much hope and confidence. That's the way we feel about this family. Then at some point we began to notice that we seem to be doing the same things as the Joneses. He became a lawyer, then I became a lawyer. Then we were asked to become a part of the Blessed Family Department as well, following the Jones family.

And then we heard that Farley and Betsy Jones were going to be the national leaders of this organization, but I did not anticipate that a few days later we would also be invited. Now I think, of course I don't have to worry about what the future will bring, I just have to look to see what the Joneses are doing!

I was also very inspired to know this is a real hometown type of organization. The New York area is Lisa's hometown; I was born in Japan. I'm from a military family, and I grew up in the midwest, but when we moved back to New York, about a year ago, we did it with the attitude that this is our hometown, and this is where we're going to make our stand. And when I saw that this organization was a hometown organization and that anyone who should be asked to take responsibility should be people in their hometowns. I really felt God recognition that this is our hometown and that we made this commitment. We very much love this New York area and want to serve it; to be asked to take a responsibility for the New York area is very meaningful to us.

Finally, I just wanted to share one thing about last summer's experience in Kodiak in which President Jones and I had a chance to participate. (See Unification News, September, 1994: "Atlastka!") At one point Father was up at North Garden talking to us, the lawyers. Father really enjoyed talking to the lawyers, teasing us to some extent. At one point, he got a book, entitled 1999, published in Japan, containing prophecies of someone referred to as the Korean Nostradamus. Father was really serious about this book. He had Col. Han explain to us what this book said. I was reflecting on why he took so much time emphasizing this book of prophecy, some of which corresponds to what Father has done, things happening in the world. My reflection is Father wanted to say something about the year 1999. He wanted to say: "Don't think that it just goes on and on, and I just continue to create organizations. We need to accomplish and conclude things, and when you make your plans, think that you want to accomplish things and conclude things by 1999."

So the Family Federation for World Peace may not be the last organization Father creates, I'm not saying that; but I feel it's a very significant organization and Father's work is approaching some real time of conclusion.

Thank you for the privilege of being in this organization together with you. Thank you.

The Unification Restoration Course And Our Tribal Messiah Way Of Life

by Marilyn Morris

It's December and signs of Christmas are everywhere. I had planned to buy my son a baseball bat, ball and glove. You see, we have moved from Texas to Ohio, close to the home where I grew up, the home of the first baseball team in America--the Cincinnati Reds. I wanted so much to take him to see my old team play, but the season was cut short before we could obtain tickets. Due to grandiose schemes and sheer simple greed, the owners and players of the game left diamonds to our imagination.

That is how this article came to be. I have spent the last few months working on sermon material dealing with the 4-position foundation and the 3 Blessings. The 4-position foundation is, after all, diamond shaped, and will someday be known as the greatest diamond discovery ever made.

Until the Divine Principle explanation of the 4-position foundation, we had only a vague idea of what those obscure verses in Genesis referring to the "blessings" meant. However, once we saw the diamond shaped diagram of the 4-position foundation on the blackboard (more recently on the slide projection or video screen), we began to have a much more clear and dynamic understanding of the phrase "3 Blessings." Father will someday be accredited his due as a genius for so clearly articulating God's original ideal fulfilled in the 3 Blessings through the 4-position foundation. Likewise for his uncovering the motivation and process of the fall of humankind and thus, revealing the way of re-creation or restoration.

The 4-position foundation has 3 levels. Let's think about that diamond shaped diagram for a moment. The first level is the top point (origin) which is where God exists in perfect subject-object harmony. The second level consists of two complementary opposite points (division) which is the horizontal subject and object relationship. The third level is the bottom point (union) where God is reflected in a new creation.

The 4-position foundation is one of the best descriptions of eternity I've ever come across. When you get to the bottom point, you've arrived at the same place as the top point. For example, in the first blessing of individual completion, the bottom point represents an individual whose mind and body is united in complete subject-object harmony. Such a person is the perfect reflection of the top point. When God looks down at that person, God sees either the subject masculine nature or object feminine nature without any flaw or blemish.

In the second blessing, the bottom point represents the children's position. The whole purpose of being together in love between a man and a woman is for the sake of that bottom point. If it isn't, we have to stop and consider what our coming together is about. We have to consider what kind of love is drawing us together and for what purpose we want to express that love. It's a serious issue between a man and a woman.

We want a child that reflects the highest point of love. Does that happen automatically? Do we just physically come together, conceive a child and then that child reflects the highest love of God in heaven? When the child is born, does it automatically understand God's love? Without the parents, how can the child understand it's origin? When babies are first born they don't understand anything. Sometimes their eyes are out of focus for a few days. They just turn their head towards the direction of their mother's or father's voice.

In the last few years, Mother declared "True Parents and the Completed Testament Age" around the world to hundreds of thousands of people. Not that everyone is at ease with this new concept, but it has taken hold in many thoughtful and academic people throughout the world. Support for the idea, for the need of this world to have model parents, is growing. We are beginning to understand that without both a model father and mother, we cannot grasp a complete relationship with God. Without God, we cannot solve the problems of this world.

In Father's own eloquent words: "Let us imagine the first human couple, Adam and Eve. They were created as the true children of God; God was their Father [Parent]. But due to the human fall, the love between them was cut off. Adam and Eve would have shed tears of joy when they fulfilled God's will. But instead they shed tears of sorrow in leaving God. It was a most miserable situation. Adam and Eve left God with no hope of return. Without this hope, how much greater their sorrow was. Imagine what fear they would have felt."

In the same speech, (The Formula for God's Providence, 1973), he prefaced this tragic reality with what the ideal should have been: "The individual receives love as a child, vertically, from God. Husband and wife have give and take of love horizontally. When they give birth to their children, their vertical love goes to them. In the love of their children a couple experience God's love for His children. With ourselves as the center, we receive God's love from above, vertically. Man and wife love each other, and they play the role of father and mother, giving love to their children. If that tie is unchanging and strong, God is right there in the family, and He will be always there. He will dwell with that family forever. If this kind of life had been realized in the beginning of history, there would have been no need of faith or prayer to believe in things that we cannot see or feel or touch. Our human ancestors were deprived of the pattern of how their families should have been."

We are at that time in history when it is once again possible to fulfill the 4-position foundation of each blessing. We can vertically receive God's love through the example of True Parents. We can horizontally love each other as husband and wife. We can vertically give love to our children and also to the creation. We can now experience God's love in every aspect of our lives. It's so exciting and stimulating!

We are witnesses to the dawning of a new day. The light is just visible over the horizon. And yet. We are often still standing in the shadows of the night before. We can see that the Tribal Messiah way of life is the responsibility to fulfill the 3 Blessings. At the same time, we also realize that without some success in the Unification restoration course, we cannot easily step into the Tribal Messiah way of life.

The Unification restoration course is sometimes demanding, even painful. However, for those who take it seriously, the promise of life as a true son and daughter will come true. I once asked my husband, "What does it mean for you to be a man? " He replied, "To love God, to love you, to love my children and this world." When further asked, "What does it mean to be a true man?" he answered, "To be willing to sacrifice everything I am and everything I have to fulfill God's providence."

He paused and added quietly, "You know, to be a man, to be a woman is one thing. To be a true man, a true woman is yet another." I nodded my head in agreement and we sat together in thoughtful silence. We can see in the True Children that it is not easy to reach from one level to the next. Their desire is even stronger to obtain that goal because they are living derivatives of the true parental example itself. As they strive before us to become true men and women, they are amazingly honest in revealing to us the kind of dedication it takes to reflect God's heart in the human frame.

The Unification community can be thought of as a practice environment. It's a re-creation or restoration "garden." Father stands in the garden as the "tree of life." Fortunately, this time Mother also stands in the garden as the "tree of knowledge of goodness." We enter into the garden, so to speak, and take a restorational position, either as representatives of the fallen archangel or fallen Eve. The pattern of restoration in this case is symbolized by and should culminate in the Holy Wine Ceremony.

After the Holy Wine Ceremony, we should be able to stand in front of True Parents as true sons and daughters. However, this isn't the case. We know this isn't the case because we still relate to each other as fallen children. (Remember Cain and Abel?). We have to become successful in the realm of fallen children before we can overcome the difficulties between the archangel and Eve. Only then can we recreate our marriage as a true love relationship between original Adam and original Eve.

That is why the Unification restoration course is demanding and painful at times. It confronts us. When we are honest about it, it's clear who we represent and where we stand in the garden. At the same time, our Unification restoration course is also God's grace for us. It is our practice course before we step out to actually fulfill our responsibility as Tribal Messiahs. The title "messiah," no matter what level is an awesome one to contemplate. One cannot as easily make mistakes in this realm of responsibility.

It took several years for us to emerge into the role of Tribal Messiah. Actually, God set us up for a 6 year testing course from start to finish in the deep south of the United States. God knew we had a great deal of restoration work left to do! Because we understand this point, wherever we go as Tribal Messiahs, we keep one foot in our practice garden environment and work as much as possible in unity with fellow church members and leaders.

Down in the deep south, our relationship came to a serious turning point with repentance, then gratitude tears. We often return to that point when we face difficult circumstances. God is always there to grace our relationship. It seems simple, but a great deal of pretense and junk has to be stripped down and taken off before one comes to that point. It's the bottom line point where one lets God become the vertical subject over one's heart. When that happens, all other blessings can come about.

Professional baseball pales by comparison to all of this. There's a better game in town folks. When you hit a home run in the 4-position foundation diamond, it reverberates through 3 great blessings and back. It goes all the way to eternity. Hey, batter, batter, swing!

The Providential Role of the Family Federation

by Dr. Tyler O. Hendricks-NYC

This is a transcription of the speech given at the inauguration of the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace.

The Family Federation for Unification and World Peace is the means of engrafting to the root of the True Family as a family, not as individuals, but as families. The first time Father spoke about it was on May 3 of this year at the Unification conference center in Korea, just two days after the 40th anniversary of the Unification Church. On that day Father directed the establishment of the International Blessed Family Association, and then two weeks later, on May 19 at the central training center in Seoul, Father explained the providential background for the establishment of the International Blessed Family Association and its major responsibilities.

Then on October 9, again in Seoul, a special meeting was held for church leaders, at which Father clarified further the importance of the new federation, saying that through it all blessed families must inherit True Parents' love and tradition. He especially emphasized that as Tribal Messiahs, Blessed Families must follow Principle in their daily lives. The Association was renamed the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace, and thus the FFUWP was established officially as of May 3, 1994. Rev. and Mrs. Won Pil Kim were appointed to the presidency of the Federation, both worldwide and in Korea.

The Blessing Association or the Family Federation is the vertical, internal root and nerve system, while the church is the horizontal, external tree and blood vessel system. That is a sketchy and yet rich analogy. Also, the relationship between the Family Federation and the church is the relationship between Abel and Cain and internal and external.

The main responsibilities of the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace are, first, education in True Parents' tradition and realization of the ideal of blessed families centering on guidance for fulfillment of the family pledge. Rev. Chung Hwan Kwak, Director of the World Mission Department and President of the church in Korea, specified that the textbook we should use for this education of ourselves as blessed couples is Blessing and Ideal Family. Please use this. It is a very rich resource for our education about blessed family life.

The third area is education for Tribal Messiah activities within the community and our families. Every family should do this through Tribal Messiah meetings twice a month, in the evening of the 1st and 15th days of each month, in our homes. The content should be guidance through reading Father's speeches and Divine Principle. I believe these can take place just on the family level, or on the neighborhood or community level.

Fourth is witnessing through Tribal Messiah activities. The explanation is clarified by the comparison of the Family Federation with the church. There was already some clarification: Abel/Cain, internal/external. The main responsibilities of the church are 1) normal church-related responsibilities; 2) services, spiritual guidance, various seminars and education; 3) church events, public relations and various outreach activities; 4) witnessing, workshops and Divine Principle education for the public; 5) blessing education. The responsibility of the church is to bring new members to the point where they can receive the blessing. At that point, once a couple receives the blessing, they then become members of the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace. Blessed families then have the position both as HSA-UWC members and as Family Federation members.

Leadership for the Family Federation is ideally blessed couples who are exemplary and elder blessed couples in their hometowns, but for the purpose of the formation stage, we don't have to be in our hometowns and if there is no one else available it can be the church leader couple which can serve as the Family Federation leader for a given area until another couple is found. Eventually, the positions of church and Family Federation leadership should be very distinct.

The Blessed Family Department is to transfer from the church to the Family Federation leadership. The Second Generation Education office also is to be under the Family Federation auspices.

The president of the church, the president of the Women's Federation and the president of VOC stand in the position of vice president to the president of the Family Federation. So there is a four position foundation. The point is that there should be very good unity and give and take action between the Family Federation, the church, the Women's Federation and VOC.

STF Thanksgiving Holiday Visit to Philadelphia

by Barbara Bright-NYC

On Friday, Nov. 25, the New York Special Task Force (STF) team and New York CARP gathered together university students and people of the Harlem community consisting of over 50 children and parents on a Thanksgiving holiday visit to Philadelphia.

True Parents initiated the direction that the STF reach out to university students, and Jin Hun Hyung Nim, vice president of World CARP, through True Parents' guidance encouraged the STF to create cultural activities and service projects to involve students. We felt that this project in Harlem could do both in bringing together people from all backgrounds. In fact, we gathered not only black and white, but Muslims, Jews and Christians.

This special visit to the birthplace of America was the main event and culmination of a semester's effort. Each Sunday we have gathered with over 20 children and 10-15 volunteers to provide creative art projects and educational activities for the children. Mrs. Barbara Skinner, "mother" of the Harlem community, is our contact person. She is very actively involved in local community affairs and is a very concerned tenant of the apartment complex where we meet the children. It has been a very stimulating project for all participants.

On our first visit everyone was a little shy and distant. But very quickly the barriers fell. We had some worry that the children might have a hard time relating to people of other backgrounds. In the beginning, however, even the racial barrier quickly melted. One white brother became a good friend to a couple of the children, who wanted to hold his hand and be with him constantly. In the following weeks, more and more children and student guests came, including students from Columbia University and New York University. The day of one of the sessions, a child was sick in bed. But when she heard the CARP volunteers were coming, she begged her mother to let her go down to participate. More and more the news has spread, and even children from other buildings have begun to show up. Mrs. Skinner expressed her deep gratitude every time.

The greatest excitement came as the day drew closer to visit Philadelphia. We chartered two buses and headed for Valley Forge, site of one of Gen. George Washington's main camps during the war for American independence. We were welcomed and guided by Dr. Hugh Spurgin. We watched a short film on the history of Valley Forge and visited a museum. Dr. Spurgin explained to us that Valley Forge was a spiritual battle of faith, perseverance and determination. Then we drove to Washington's headquarters. Here the children ran around excitedly on the grass and we shared lunch together.

Our next stop was the "One Day at a Time" (ODAT) drug rehabilitation center. We joined an already-in-session meeting. Everyone was inspired by the openness and enthusiasm of the recovering "ex-addicts" who shared their testimonies and encouragement not to do drugs. Rev. Wells, the founder of "One Day at a Time," testified to the vision and activity of the Unification movement to save the world, in front of our students, members and parents. Then Rev. Jenkins, leader of the Philadelphia Unification Church, shared more about our True Parents' vision and love in a message to the audience that was very moving and inspirational. We spent the last hour and a half visiting the main historical sites of downtown Philadelphia. We rushed around, but kept the children and all participants always entertained. The cooperation on everyone's part was astonishing. One student struggled to feel comfortable taking care of the children, but he challenged himself and later on felt comfortable. He testified that one child called him "daddy". One blessed child, Masato Sudo, made a beautiful relationship with one of the children. Most of the guests felt we were true friends, and some even felt like brothers and sisters.

The guests from Harlem were eager to show their support and enthusiasm for the project. Mrs. Skinner asked local businesses for donations of food and money. The Tenants' Association donated lunch for everybody. Mrs. Skinner and a few other mothers cooked breakfast for all of us at Mrs. Skinner's home. It was inspiring to see how involved parents became. One very involved mother asked many times when the next activity would be. One of the parents was a local minister who brought his six children. At the beginning of the trip he offered a prayer, and was grateful for the opportunity to learn about the history of the country.

For the future, we plan to develop educational programs for the children through computers, music and other means, so that they can develop a sense of responsibility as family members, students and citizens. We plan to contact local politicians and businesses for support.

For this holiday season, we are focusing on spreading the spirit of giving. To teach the children about loving, respecting and serving the elderly, we've decided to go Christmas caroling at the local home for senior citizens. In addition, we are seeking a donation of toys, so that the children can wrap them, make cards and then offer them as gifts to the nearby children's homeless shelter.

We are truly grateful to True Parents and the True Children for the inspiration to initiate and carry out such activities. The ideas and inspirations are continuing to grow and we have so much hope for what we can do to encourage American youth to serve our brothers and sisters in Harlem.

Resolutions: My Future

by Justin Fong-Age 9-Long Island, NY

When I grow up I want to be two things. One thing that I want to be is a minister, like my dad. I chose this life because I will be just like my dad. It will help some problems in the world. I also think that it would help me later to do the right things in life. And help me be more calm and think more of others and feelings.

When I go to junior high I will start my education. I will be ready in physical fitness because I will have more muscle and probably I can do twice as much as I would have. And physics, which is the study of the forces and particles of the universe. Biology, the study of living things. And earth science, which is the study of the weather. I also think that it would be a time of Bible study. But I don't think that you can see God through the Bible, but through the things that He made.

My dad can help me in this goal because he is a minister. And he has been a minister since he was twenty. I can also witness for more people to join my church. And I will be able to think more about others. And I think that is a great idea.

I think that my behavior is good and it should stay good. Because people say that once you make a habit you can't stop easily and I want to make a habit of being good. Also, being bad will be some use to me because if I'm bad I will learn the feelings of some people and will be better for knowing how to approach people when I witness.

I think it's a good idea because my dad thinks it's a good idea. My dad is supporting by saving money for my education. And my dad and mom want me to work and save money for my education.

Prayer Points

Contributed by Mary Trifault, New York, NY

I pray to remember who I am before God as His child and He as my Father.

I pray to always be very sincere with myself before my Father, as True Children are before the Holy Parents.

I pray that I can recognize what gives happiness and what causes pain to others.

I pray to be humble to receive God's gift of life everyday (accept life).

I pray to welcome each new situation without making the statement that it is wrong, and instead take time to see how through each new development God is trying to give something to me.

I pray to welcome the people around me in my life, as God also wishes to live around me.

I pray to always want to love others as I wish to be loved by God.

Parents Day Victory

by Ronald E. Pine-Sacramento, CA

As you all know, the United States Congress inaugurated the fourth Sunday of every July as "Parents Day." Like many members I prayed deeply so I could find a good way to initiate Parents Day in the minds and hearts of people in my hometown.

Father has shown us that we are to morally influence public officials in our hometown. While praying and asking God how I, a simple member, can contribute to this important day, God inspired me to contact my local congressman, Rep. Richard Pombo, and ask him to issue a proclamation honoring Barbara and Philip Wallace (the Republican party chairman for ten years). Just a few days before July 28, Cong. Pombo's secretary called me and said they are going to send a certificate to the Wallaces! Needless to say, my wife and I were ecstatic and jumping with joy, which means God is also joyful with this great news!

After we learned of the honor being bestowed on the Wallaces I prayed again and asked God how we can properly inform local officials in my hometown so a tradition can be established. Therefore, I sent a letter to Stockton's Mayor Joan Darrah and informed her of the Parents Day proclamation being given to the Wallaces. The next day her assistant called me and asked how Cong. Pombo decided to send this certificate. Did the Wallaces ask directly for themselves? I told her it was my idea and that I suggested it to Cong. Pombo in two letters. On the following day the mayor's office called to let me know that they also decided to honor the Wallaces and present a certificate to them as well. Not only that-they also wanted to give them the honor at the city council meeting, which is a public meeting!

Can anyone imagine how Philip and Barbara Wallace must have felt when they received these wonderful honors, especially since they had no idea their name had been submitted for consideration. The way they learned of my involvement was when I asked them for copies of their certificates. Barbara was curious how I knew and why I wanted copies, so I told her I requested Cong. Pombo's and the mayor's offices to send the proclamations. Furthermore, I told Barbara that it was Rev. Moon who supported the establishment of Parents Day and that I'm simply following his teaching of True Love as my motivation to initiate these events. The Wallaces were deeply impressed. They now have a better opinion of Rev. Moon and what he has done for America.

Now that a tradition has been established on the foundation of obtaining recognition for the Wallaces, I can now find another wonderful couple living exemplary lives and ask Cong. Pombo and the mayor of Stockton to recognize them next year.

It is my hope that anyone reading this story can realize that you can do the same thing! You can write to your congressman and local government officials and ask them to recognize a special couple in your hometown. You do not need any special position; just understand that we are God's true children and we must save this ailing world. We have the true standard set by True Parents. All we have to do is reach out from the motivation of True Love. Whether a person is a high public official or not does not matter. They are still God's lost children, parents and our brothers and sisters. We can represent True Parents. We are the first blessed couples. We have been personally trained by True Parents. So who is better qualified to set a standard concerning the recognition of Parents Day each year? Who is better qualified to demonstrate the heart of Rev. Moon? How can the people of this world recognize that Father is the Messiah, Lord of the Second Advent, if we are not on the front line living as Father lives for the sake of other people?

What better way is there of helping the Wallace family than simply demonstrating parents' love or God's True Love? From this time on, whenever I meet my good friends, the Wallace family, I can always say that it is Rev. Moon's life-course that inspires me to act the way I have. That it is my innermost hope that they can more deeply understand that they too must become True Parents to their own children. They need to learn that Heaven can only be occupied by couples who live up to God's standard of True Love and that we all have the capacity to become those True Parents just as Rev. and Mrs. Moon have done as the first True Parents.

Original Blessings Workshop Opens New Witnessing Way

by Dan Fefferman-NYC

The first Original Blessings Workshop brought together 117 participants--including 23 guests--in an experimental day-long spiritual growth opportunity at the New Yorker Hotel Grand Ballroom November 26.

Using an experiential approach to learning basic Divine Principle concepts, the workshop featured guided meditations, reflective exercises, energy work and dance. Teaching was limited to the Three Blessings, the Beatitudes and a testimony to the work of Rev. and Mrs. Moon as the enactors of the "Cosmic Myth" of the True Parents.

"This workshop is designed to allow members and guests together to experience the ultimate joy of God," said Rev. Joong Hyun Pak, who commissioned the project.

The idea is that members and guests can work together on spiritual growth, while new guests learn basic concepts from the Divine Principle and whet their appetites for future study.

Reflections from participants indicate that the workshop met with substantial success.

"This was the most moving day of my life," said one guest. "I cried so many tears and learned so much about myself."

Said another, "I feel completely reborn as a true daughter of God. I never knew how brave I was. Thank you."

The workshop format is designed around the Three Blessings--1) personal growth, 2) expansion to the collective levels, and 3) harmony with creation. In addition, the Beatitudes were interpreted as a reiteration of the Original Blessings through the ministry of Jesus. Finally, the work of Rev. and Mrs. Moon was introduced as a opportunity to realize God's Blessings in today's world.

The evening concluded with a joyous "ritual dance" in the New Yorker Grand Ballroom, with contemporary music chosen to manifest the spirit of the Beatitudes. Participants enacted the Blessings to the music of such artists as Eric Clapton, Sting, Amy Grant, Michael Jackson, Stevie Winwood and Sister Sledge.

"I see a whole new future for the Grand Ballroom!" exclaimed one long- time member. "I would be happy to bring guests to this kind of workshop."

Another unique feature of the workshop was the opportunity for participants to choose among activities through "breakout" sessions. In addition to providing a choice of what to do, this feature enables people to return to the workshop several times with new guests and still have a fresh experience.

Workshop elements included:
* goal setting (Michael Inglis)
* marriage and parenting skills (Nora Spurgin)
* inner child meditations (Richard Cohen)
* lifeboat exercise (Dan Fefferman)
* "Tree of Life" meditation (Myra Stanecki)
* Healing Circle (William Lay)
* Chi exercise (Barry Geller)

Rev. Pak has initiated three more Original Blessing Workshops on the East Coast, as of this writing. The tentative dates and places are:

January 14--Washington, D.C.
January 28--New York
February 11--Boston

Details will be available from your regional Church offices as plans evolve.

Personally, I feel very excited to be working on the development and implementation of these workshops. It's my hope that this work can grow into a significant new way of sharing our life and ideals with the public while we work on our own spiritual growth and healing at the same time.

If we can hold the balance between internal personal growth and external outreach, we may discover a creative key, which can both renew our own community and restore the world.
