The Story of a Couple

Not long ago Father visited Chun Nam. There was a woman there who I remember was at the Blessing last time. I don't know if her husband is here today. That woman was the one who was left after everybody took their spouses. As the person who is responsible, I could not help but heartistically sympathize with her. A good-looking woman can be tossed about, and still there are a lot of people who will take her. Even if I tell them not to take her, they will fight to take her. But since people are different from objects, nobody will marry a person he hates even if I tell him in a morning service. Everybody was picked, and only one or two were remaining. She was one of them.

Every man without exception knows how to distinguish a person of beauty. At that time, even Father himself from a human point of view could not ask a man to marry her. Then how can I, as a matchmaker, fulfill her marriage? If you were in the position to make a match for that kind of person, what would you say? Whether it is a man or woman, all of them trust Father and think that they will be matched to the best possible spouse. So since everyone has high hopes and has such a high standard of assessing a spouse, how can I give someone who is below his or her standard? Yet if I don't, I will have to match everyone to a person of highest standards, but that is impossible. What can I do about this?

So what did I say? I said that if someone marries this woman, the second generation will be handsome if it is a boy and beautiful if it is a girl. But what happens if the children are not handsome? What if their children resemble their mother? That husband will protest to Father. Wouldn't that be so? He can protest all he wants saying that Reverend Moon of the Unification Church deceived him and made him marry an ugly woman. But if they have beautiful children, everything will be solved simply. In this serious position, I matched them.

Then while I was visiting Chun Nam, I stopped at a station for a short time, and saw that couple. My heart was palpitating, and I was wondering if she had a baby. She was carrying a baby on her back. So not paying any attention to anybody else, I went to her, looked at the baby, and said, "Wow, the baby is so handsome." In this way I encouraged her. So, let's just smile at this and go over it.

One Crippled Woman

When I was blessing people, there was one crippled woman. But her face was not ugly. She was born with a good ancestral background and a good nature, but she became deformed due to the fault of her parents. Every time I matched her to someone, each would reject her. In actuality, who likes to marry a deformed person? Then I saw one certain person who had sunken eyes and many defects in his appearance. I knew that the person who could make up for those defects was that woman. Thus I began to persuade him, "Even though this woman looks this way, she is a good person. If you notice parts of her that you do not like, you can close your eyes. But her face is really beautiful. And why are you getting married? Isn't it for the sake of descendants? If you marry her in this kind of position, will it not remain for a long time in the history of the Unification Church? It will be an incident that I will not forget for the rest of my life." In this way I talked to him. And I matched him saying, "If you marry her and have a daughter, she will be a beautiful girl, and if you have a son, he will be a general."

Several years later Father visited a region, and that couple attended the meeting. As soon as that man saw me, he ran up. I asked him if I could see his baby, and when I looked, I saw that she was a really beautiful girl. Thus he was praising his daughter saying that what Father said is absolutely true. In the same way, don't think that somebody is good just because he or she appears good externally.

All people are brothers and sisters. If there is a deformed person among one's brothers, it is brotherly love to sacrifice for that person. Again, if one's parents are in the same situation, it is the way of the filial son to obey and sacrifice for those parents. This is the general rule. Let's say that there is a child who is not only ugly but also so short that others will not even look at him. But his parents will feel the utmost pity for that child. It is the nature of a parent to love that child with the heart of God more than anybody else.

Can We Be Good Without God?

Last December, newspapers ran a striking photograph of a group of people held at bay by armed guards. They were not rioters or protesters; they were Christmas carolers. The town of Vienna, Virginia, had outlawed the singing of religious songs on public property. So these men, women and children were forced to sing "Silent Night" behind barricades, just as if this were Eastern Europe under communist rule instead of Christmas in America in 1992.

We have spent the past 30 years determined to secularize our society. Some months before the incident in Virginia, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Lee vs. Weisman that a rabbi who delivered a very politically correct "To Whom It May Concern" prayer at a Rhode Island junior high school commencement had violated the constitutional rights of a fifteen-year-old student in the audience. The Court said, in effect, that the girl must student in the audience. The Court said, in effect, that the girl must be legally protected against listening to views she disagreed with. There was a time when it was a mark of civility to listen respectfully to different views; now you have a constitutional right to demand that those views not be expressed in your presence.

In another case which went all the way to the Supreme Court, visual religious symbols have been banned. Zion, Illinois, in the "heartland of America," was forced to eliminate the cross featured in its city seal, because the Justices ruled it a breach of the First Amendment. In education, the same kind of court-enforced secularism has been so successful that teachers may hand out condoms in school, but they are forbidden to display a copy of the Ten Commandments on a bulletin board. Students, meanwhile, may indulge in almost any kind of activity in school, but they are forbidden to pray.

The Supreme Court is not the only institution out to protect us from the "threat" faith poses. The media assault upon religious believers has been fierce. Cardinal O'Connor has been excoriated by the New York Times for even suggesting that he might deny the sacraments to a pro- choice legislator. (This was the same New York Times that praised a Louisiana archbishop who refused to administer communion to a segregationist legislator in 1962.)

In February 1993, the Washington Post featured a front-page article which characterized evangelical Christians as "largely poor, uneducated, and easy to command." If a journalist said that about any other group in America, he would be fired on the spot, but the Post didn't fire anyone. It merely expressed surprised that many readers found the description offensive. A few days later, one of the bemused editors explained that they felt they were simply printing something that is "universally accepted." It is no wonder that Peter Berger, professor of sociology at Boston University, says that if you look around the world, you will find that the most religious country is India, and the most irreligious country is Sweden and America is an interesting combination of Indians who are governed by Swedes.

A Post-Christian Society

These Swedes have done their job well. In 1962, polls indicated that at least 65 percent of all Americans believed the Bible to be true. In 1992, polls indicate that only 32 percent do, while 50 percent say that they actually fear fundamentalists. If the polls are right, our Judeo-Christian heritage is no longer the foundation of our values. We have become a post-Christian society.

The process of "shedding" our religion began with the cultural revolution of the 1960s, which exalted existentialism and a kind of "live-for-the-moment/God-is-dead-or-irrelevant" philosophy. Today, that "sixties philosophy" d-is-dead-or-irrelevant" philosophy. Today, that "sixties philosophy" has become mainstream; it is in the White House, it is in the poetry of Maya Angelou, it is in every walk of life. This is not to say that people aren't going to church. Fifty- four percent of the American people still attend religious services regularly. But we live in a Donahue-ized culture in which we sit and watch, hour by hour, the banality which passes for knowledge on television, and we rarely think about issues in terms of Judeo- Christian truth. We hear carolers singing "Silent Night" or an invocation at a public ceremony, and we are filled with trepidation; we are worried that we are infringing on the rights of nonbelievers. We see the symbol of the cross and we feel compelled to paint it out because it might violate the principle of separation between church and state. We exalt tolerance, not truth, as the ultimate virtue. The City of Man

Can we really sustain the city of man without the influence of the City of God? St. Augustine argued that it was impossible.

Any society, especially a free society, depends on a moral consensus and on shared assumptions: What is ultimate reality? What is meaningful in life? By what standards should we be governed? These common values are the glue which holds society together.

In America, the glue is wearing pretty thin. We are in the middle of an identity crisis in which we are attempting to redefine our basic values all over again. We can no longer assume that right and wrong have clear meanings or that there is universal truth. After all, pollsters tell us that sixty-seven percent of the American people say there is no such thing.

What we fail to realize, however, is that rejecting transcendental truth is tantamount to committing national suicide. A secular state cannot cultivate virtue an old-fashioned word you don't hear much in public discourse these days. In his classic novel, The Brothers Karamazov, the 19th century Russian novelist Dostoyevsky asked, essentially, "Can man be good without God?" In every age, the answer has been: no. Without a restraining influence on their nature, men will destroy themselves. That restraining influence might take many abstract forms, as it did for the Greeks and Romans, or it might be the God of the Old and the New Testaments. But it has always served the same purpose.

Even before Dostoyevsky posed his timeless question, an 18th century German professor of logic and metaphysics, Immanuel Kant, had already dismissed it as irrelevant. God exists, said Kant, but he is separate from the rest of life. Over here are the things that we can empirically know; over there are things we can accept only on faith. What does that do to ethics? Kant's answer was to separate them from faith; we can, on our own, with only our rational capacities to depend upon, develop what he called the "categorical imperative." He explained: "Act as if the maxim from which you act were to become through your will a universal law." This rational, subjective view is the basis of ethics being taught in nearly every school in America today, from Public Grammar School No. 1 to Harvard Business School. Students are never exposed to traditional moral teaching in school only to rationalism. Pragmatism and utilitarianism are substituted for Judeo-Christian ethics, and students are taught that they have the inner capacity to do good rationally, apart from God.

Danger of Self-Righteousness

Nothing could be more dangerous. Let me give you a case study: Chuck Colson. I grew up in the Depression years. My dad, who was the son of a Swedish immigrant, used to tell me two things on Sunday afternoon. Although no one in my family had ever gone to college, he said: "If you work hard, you can get to the top. That's the American dream." And the second thing he used to say was: "Always tell the truth. No matter what you do in life, always tell the truth." (One could not go through Watergate and claim much distinction for anything, but the fact was that I testified under oath 44 times and I was the only defendant who was not charged with perjury. My dad's lesson stuck: tell the truth. I kept both of these pieces of advice in mind as I grew up, earned a scholarship to college and then went on to law school. I also remembered them when I joined a very successful law firm and years later in 1969 when President Nixon asked me to come to work at the White House. I took everything I had earned and put it into a blind trust. (If you want to make a small fortune, let me tell you how: you take a large fortune and put it in a blind trust.) I did everything to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. I passed unsolicited gifts on to my employees. I refused to see people whom I had practiced law with or made business deals with I mean, I really had studied Kant's categorical imperative, and I knew that I would always do right.

What happened? I went to prison.

Why? Because we are never more dangerous than when we are feeling self-righteous. We have an infinite capacity for this feeling and for the self-justification . We have an infinite capacity for this feeling and for the self-justification that accompanies it. It was only when Jesus Christ came into my life that I was able to see myself for who I am. Indeed, it is only when we all turn to God that we begin to see ourselves as we really are as fallen sinners desperately in need of His restraint and His grace. Kant's philosophy, like much Enlightenment thought, was based on a flawed view of human nature which held that men are basically good and, if left to their own devices, will almost always do good things. It was also dead wrong in assuming that the categorical imperative could take the place of moral law. Just because men can think the right thing, it does not mean that they will heed it. Remember Pierre, one of the central characters in Tolstoy's War and Peace? Torn by spiritual agonies, he cried out to God: "Why is it that I know what is right and I do what is wrong?" We can know what is right, but we don't always have the will to do what is right.

How Shall We Live?

In books like Mere Christianity and The Abolition of Man, the 20th century British Christian apologist C. S. Lewis attempted to refute Kant and make a powerful intellectual case for the City of God which did not wall it off from the city of man. In an essay entitled "Men Without Chests," he drew an analogy between the spiritual life and the body which sums up his objections to the supreme rationalism of the Enlightenment. The head, Lewis said, is reason, and the stomach is passion or appetite. The head alone cannot control the stomach. It needs the chest, which is spirit, to restrain our baser passions and appetites.

Yet after World War II, schools began to teach ethics based on subjective standards without transcendent moral truths. Lewis challenged this, writing: "We make men without chests and we expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and we are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful." That is what we are doing in America today. We are taking away the spiritual element and abandoning morality based on religious truth, counting instead on our heads and our subjective feelings to make us do what is right. In our zeal to accommodate our so-called enlightened and tolerant age, we have lost the ideal of public virtue. I am reminded of Samuel Johnson who, upon learning that one of his dinner guests believed morality was merely a sham, said to his butler, "Well, if he really believes that there is no distinction between virtue and vice, let us count the spoons before he leaves." Today, there aren't any spoons left to count. Look at Washington, Wall Street, academia, sports, the ministry all the spoons are gone because we can no longer distinguish between virtue and vice. Recovering that ability depends on asking the right questions. Our brightest and best leaders are concerned with the question, "How shall we be governed?" But in the Book of Ezekiel the Jewish people asked: "How shall we live?" It doesn't matter who governs if society has no spiritual element to guide it. Unless we learn how to live as men with chests we are doomed. The City of God

I have seen this truth most powerfully in the area in which I've been called to spend my life. With the help of my friend Jack Eckerd and others, I work with men and women in prison in 54 countries around the world. The crisis is grave. In Washington, D.C., for example, 46 percent of the inner city black population between the ages of 18 and 31 is either in prison, on parole, or on probation. America as a whole has the highest per capita rate of incarceration in the world and, for the last 25 years, the crime rate has gone up every year. We can't build prisons fast enough. In the last seven years, we have seen a 120 percent increase in murders committed by those between the ages of 18 and 20. According to some sources, twenty percent of all schoolchildren carry a weapon.

Criminologist James Q. Wilson, among others, has tried to identify the root cause of this epidemic of violence. When he began his inquiry, he was certain that he would discover that in the great period of industrial revolution in the latter half of the 19th century there was a tremendous increase in crime. But, to his astonishment, he discovered a decrease. And then he looked at the years of the Great Depression. Again, there was a significant decrease in crime. Frustrated by these findings, which upset all our preconceived notions, Wilson decided to search for a single factor to correlate. The factor he found was religious faith.

When crime should have been rising in the late 1800s because of rapid urbanization, industrialization, and economic dislocation, Victorian morality was sweeping across America. It was a time of intense spirituality. It was not until the conscious rejection of Victorian morality during the Roaring Twenties that crime went up. This was the era when Sigmund Freud's views were coming into vogue among "thinking" Americans: people weren't evil, just misguided or mistreated, or they required better environments. Sin was regarded as a lot of religious claptrap.

The crime rate did not decline again until the Great Depression, a time of people banding together in the face of crisis. Wilson concluded, therefore, that crime was in large part caused by a breakdown of morality. Since 1965, the crime rate has steadily risen. In the same period, religious faith has waned. We have told people there are no absolutes, and that they are not responsible for their own behavior. They are simply victims of a system which isn't working any more and they don't have to worry about it because the government is going to fix it for them. We thought that in this brave new world we could create the perfect secular utopia. But the secular utopia is in reality the nightmare we see as we walk through the dark, rotten holes we call prisons all across America.

In this context, it always amazes me when I listen to politicians say: "We are going to win the war on drugs by building prisons, appointing more judges, and putting more police on the beat." I remember when President Bush announced the "War on Drugs." Having spent seven months in prison, there wasn't one night that I did not smell marijuana burning. If you can get marijuana into a prison, with watchtowers, inspections and prison guards, you can get it into a country. You can send the U.S. Marines to Colombia to burn all the fields, seal all the borders and build all the prisons you want, but you won't stop drug use in this country because it isn't a problem of supply; it is a problem of demand. When there is no greater value in the lives of so many people than simply fulfilling individual desires and gratifications, then crime and drug abuse become inevitable. The soaring crime rate is powerful testimony to the failure of the city of man, deprived of the moral influence of the City of God.

If we cannot be good without God, how do we sustain public virtue in society? We cannot do it through the instrument of politics. Alasdair MacIntyre, moral philosopher at Notre Dame, says that "politics has become civil war carried on by other means." Without moral authority to call upon, our elected leaders are reduced to saying, "We can't say that this is right and that's wrong. We simply prefer that you wouldn't murder." And crime and drug abuse are not the only results of this loss of moral authority. Forty-four percent of the baby-boomers say that there is no cause that would lead them to fight and die for their country. In the city of man, there is no moral consensus, and without a moral consensus there can be no law. Chairman Mao expressed the alternative well: in his view, morality begins at the muzzle of a gun.

There has never been a case in history in which a society has been able to survive for long without a strong moral code. And there has never been a time when a moral code has not been informed by religious truth. Recovering our moral code our religious truth is the only way our society can survive. The heaping ash remains at Auschwitz, the killing fields of Southeast Asia, and the frozen wastes of the gulag remind us that the city of man is not enough; we must also seek the City of God.

Philip Burley Channels Saint Germaine

Hi, I'm here, I am here. Thank you for pulling me through with your loving, kind, helpful vibration as Philip speaks of it. As he spoke earlier, the vibrations of this particular atmosphere this evening are not most conducive to our coming as close immediately. But as I speak and through the energies which you have created here released through your vocal cords and through your hearts, I will come in closer and closer and you will hear me more and more in the vocalization of these words. He must get more and more out of the way, and I must feel your desire. As soon as you begin to field questions to me, which is our main emphasis here tonight, then I will be able to step in more fully.

I welcome your questions because not only do you have a need to ask such questions, but there are those in the audience who likewise who need the answer. In as much as these words are going forth to many people in written form, they will also serve to help others who are not even here. You may begin, and I will endeavor to do my best to bring forth the answers to your kind questions.

Question: How can we find out more about our own spiritual guides?

Saint Germaine: There are various forms, various means of doing so. There are those instruments who are prepared to bring forth such information who can clearly, decisively, hear and see (either one or both of those) and can bring forth such information. But until you can find such rare individuals, names are not important as much as the quality of the character of those who work with you. In order to know that, you simply have to take the time to examine your own character, for those that are with you will be very, very similar; will have similar virtues, similar ideas, similar hopes and dreams. In fact, it is they who have often put such ideas in your mind.

But you are not immediately like them, especially with those who were with you from birth; for character is something that is an essence but must expand as you go through life experience. But we in the spiritual world can see potential. And therefore we can know down the road who you will need at what time, for what purpose. As was spoken of earlier, there is an abiding law that always draws to you what you are.

You may also, as a final suggestion, practice meditation over enough time and ask that question, and see what kind of an answer you get. The major thing with your spiritual guides is they will answer to any name, if it is filled with love. They simply want to help you--those who are truly loving, high-realm spiritual guides--they want to help you.

I will take another question please.

Question: I have heard about ancestor liberation, and I wondered if you could explain a little bit what that means to the ancestor and to the person involved.

Saint Germaine: On a very, very practical level if there is someone around you in this earth plane that you do not want around you, you can simply tell them to get away from you. Or, because they are visible, you can avoid them. It is no different between our world and yours. It is very possible to alienate kind spirits around you by unkindness or by failing to listen. But fundamentally in order to remove entities from you, "liberate" them, to use your vernacular, you need to address them with the truth of the reality of their situation.

We are just as susceptible to enlightenment here as you are there. However because the dynamic for change and growth is more an experience from the earth plane, then there is a much greater opportunity here [on earth] to actually change the life course through the enlightenment. But you need to inform them as to what they're really doing. Many who need to be liberated are actually drawn to your vibration and they don't even know, in some cases, that they are connected to you. That is the ones who are in greater ignorance, or in greater darkness. They must have the light turned on to them, the light of understanding, by receiving the information as to the true reality of their situation. In plain language, they need to be told that they are in fact drawn to earthly energies. Now as I speak of these individuals, I am speaking of those at the lower end of the spectrum of ignorance, lacking in enlightenment, lacking in truth about life.

There are others who are not in this lower dimension, but simply have made mistakes on earth, who understand that they have made mistakes, and they come in order to change what they have done. They come to undo what they did in their lifetime. And they will work consciously to guide their earthly counterpart to whom they are drawn, their earthly descendant, and guide them to overcome a similar problem, or the same problem, in the earthly counterpart's situation. And as they help them to overcome, then they themselves grow; by law, they are then freed up, they are no longer needing to pay a debt in that area. It is a science even as much as your accounting. However, because our Father in Heaven is a God of love, He does shower us with amnesty, in which He is only asking us to pay a certain portion--but it must be paid.

Each of us in the spiritual world is in a different place according to what we have done with our life on earth. It is by law; it is by science. Nothing more, nothing less. If you have lived a life which is clear, high-purposed, pure and loving, positive, charitable, unselfish, then you will be in that realm where the qualities of that character are manifest with others who are like you, so you will feel exactly at home. You will feel exactly among friends. There will be no unfamiliarity of the environment or vibration.

Others are in lower areas where they have loved lesser things. Some have loved material goods, some have loved alcohol; some have loved a debased life of sensuality and abused their bodies considerably. Then they have gone to that region in the spiritual world further away from goodness; and they have then joined in those regions with others who are like them. All of these individuals are connected, in some fashion, to the earth plane. They have descendants, there are people on earth whom their descendants may have hurt, whom they may be connected to--all of their wrongs must be righted. There is no magic wand which God waves to reverse the wrongs done. God did not create you as a puppet, but rather as a free agent, and responsible. You must reap what you sow, and sow again and again to undo the wrongs which you have sown; that you might then in turn reap goodness, thus reversing in reality, not just figuratively, but in reality, your former acts. In this way, in the struggle to do so, in the attempts to overcome, you will find your character changing. Or through the process of hurting and going through the pains of overcoming and helping another on earth, your earthly counterpart, to overcome, you will find great struggle, great pain, great heartache. And you will be sorry, and thus repentant for what you have done. In this way, you shed the old self, through tears, through regret, through repentance, through generally speaking, suffering. And out of this is the birth of a new self.

The whole field of spirit liberation needs to be illuminated on earth, and that day is now. And the widening of the beam of this illumination is getting broader.

Someone may ask another question please.

Question: What influences from the spirit world can influence the quality of a married couple's sexual relationship?

Saint Germaine: First, you must understand that where there are problems on earth, these problems are possible because of ignorance of the individuals on earth first. If that did not exist, then such spirits could not interfere at any level or to any degree. If there is actually no basis for their interference, if there is none, then they have no reason to be attracted--they have no way, by the law of reciprocity, to be drawn. Even as if you did not have a problem with smoking, then you would not be tempted by cigarettes, if you have no base within you.

Therefore, we cannot just blame the spiritual world. We must look to ourselves and ask within ourselves, "what is it within me that I need to understand or change or grow?" At the same time, as there is a base within you or a basis for reciprocity, there can be those drawn into such a situation to magnify the fears, the insecurities, whatever the problem may be in the relationship. But I would not add fuel to the problem by only thinking of them, how they are interfering with your life. Remember, as I said, there is a law: the law is they cannot be engaged in your thought life or in your energies unless there is an opening to do so--an opening being an opportunity; an opportunity being something that is within you that has magnetically drawn them, that is like them. So you must ask yourself, "what is it in me, what is it in the other person (if it is a marriage), what is it in both of us or either one of us that is causing this?" Then repent for that in your life.

Such individuals should not just struggle and struggle, should not just receive exorcism, but should receive enlightenment, education, understanding. There should be ample discussion and full disclosure of the reality of what is going on. No secrets, but truly confiding in our earthly beloved one, as to what is really going on, bringing understanding. In many cases, many couples could be helped with these kind of problems if they were secure enough in their love for each other, and unafraid to expose their real inner self. After all, if you are together forever, eventually you will find out who each other is, some day. Best to do it here on earth.

I will take another question please.

Question: Saint Germaine, we've heard and it's written, about the Second Coming of Christ, and we've heard you speak, too, of the end times being near. Are those the same events? Can you elaborate on what each of those mean in our lives today?

Saint Germaine: Yes. Part of my coming, part of my being here is to prepare a pathway for the great light to shine more deeply in the lives of those who are looking for the higher life. Part of my work, part of why I am sent, is to help those who are walking towards these end times as described in prophecy; help them to understand themselves and to work with the complexities of these days; to bring enlightenment out of ignorance; to bring hope out of despair; to bring clarity out of obscurity.

The end times are the end of a world as you have known it. And the foreshadowing of such events is heralded by higher understanding. Even as your scientific world, through the influence of the spiritual world, has gleaned higher, deeper understanding and the application of same to your technological scientific world, so too are those in the spiritual world who are bringing forth higher understanding, higher truth about the spiritual life. This is especially so in this age.

The return of Christ is the return of truth at the highest apex of existence. The events, the unfolding of the world's circumstances and situations are, directly or indirectly, in relationship to this great event. These signs being present should cause those who are in earnest and serious about what they understand to search deeper and higher and further for the full disclosure of the full true meaning of the Second Coming.

There are many people on earth today that are part of the Second Coming, who are messianic figures, in all fields of endeavor. But the one who comes who will bring the spiritual salve to heal mankind is not parallel in their ranks, but sits, as it were, on the throne of God, above them. But knowingly or unknowingly, by God's administration, they are all connected. It is only a matter of time before the world shall turn in totality to that understanding and acceptance of same.

I will take another question please.

Question: . . . a lot of the world wars that we see going on at this time have a different cause than in the past. There's a lot of racial wars and ethnic wars that are happening that I feel are fueled by a lot of resentment, historical resentment from the spirit world. So now more people are dying and going to spirit world with the same kind of resentment. I'm speaking specifically about the situation in Yugoslavia. What can we do, how can we pray, to end this cycle?

Saint Germaine: Yes, it is a great, great tragedy. When, I say with broken heart, when will mankind learn? When will you stop killing your brother and sister? When will you learn of the uselessness of selfishness? And when will you learn that it breeds nothing, it reaps nothing but more pain?

Actually I must be honest. The question that you asked is the question we are now asking in our convocations. To herald the way for a new world, we too are asking what can we do. There are legions of us, as I am here, there is behind me, though you could not completely understand it in the full sense of the word, there is behind me a legion of souls waiting for you to act. Because there is an abiding law, the law of reciprocity, the law of sowing and reaping, when there are enough people on earth who are tired of war and demand, en masse, and vote for no more war anywhere, then we can act.

In many ways you do not realize that in the suffering country of Russia the cry among the suffering reached such a fever pitch in the spiritual world, unknown to you, not even always spoken, but often agonized in the silence of their hearts--it reached such a fever pitch that we were able to descend and bring about changes.

I have to repeat here, as I have said other places and will continue to repeat: you are not powerless. Do not try to be the savior to the entire world. Do not try to pray for everyone, but pray for those whom you can pray for. Let your energies be woven together. Let your cry towards heaven be so powerful, so potent that we can attack and bring down the spiritual enemy. The problem is complex, but each of you is in a war. The war to win your own freedom from spiritual prison. You must win that on earth. But you will not win it by being passive; you will not win it by indifference or escaping from it.

No one likes martyrdom. No one in this modern day wants to be a saint. It is highly unpopular. If it were not so, you would find more of them, wouldn't you? You would find more St. Francis's, more Mother Theresas, as I have spoken of ten of her. But the materiality of this world blinds even the most conscientious often from what needs to be done. But please do not despair. Win your own freedom. Seek to overcome your own problems. Pray to be endowed with understanding, with compassion, with power to do what you can do to free others.

What we are doing here is not for the purpose of just coming together and going home, but rather to bring about a change in the consciousness of those who receive our words. I am but a small individual speaking out. But my words are touching you, are touching those in the spiritual world who are ignorant who are brought even here tonight to observe this phenomena, to hear my words, and the printed word is going out. We need many people, not just people from spirit world but many people on earth, who will join their voice, accept the responsibility and take up the cause. You have touched a very sensitive and deep cord within my personal soul, for I have been marching forward with a vanguard for this very day. I am more troubled than you, but, I know there is a God. Therefore, I have eternal hope.

Question: Saint Germaine, first of all, thank you very much for your efforts here to enlighten us and educate us. In a previous meeting you've clarified for us the historical misinterpretation of phenomena which leads to the theory of reincarnation, the theory of spirit return and resurrection. In a similar vein I'd like to know the correct interpretation of another confusing phenomenon in our world, and I hope this isn't too flippant. Many people seem to report these days experiences of extraterrestrial visitations, or abductions, and things like this. Is this a purely spiritual phenomenon? Is it a hoax, or is there indeed life on other planets or other civilizations that we are unaware of at this time?

Saint Germaine:

If I say here that it is true, or if I say it is false, or if I say there are extraterrestrials, what will happen to my words? Why is this point not clarified yet? Why in all the channelling and all the spiritual phenomena, has someone not come forth to clarify, to explicitly clear up? There is much confusion surrounding this. I will say this and this only tonight: the power of the imagination is great. When manipulated incorrectly it can create many conclusions.

You are able to project out of your own imaginings your own thought forms, which when seeing them you would swear to God that they were objective realities. Whether this is spiritual phenomena, from the earth plane or from our world, it is spiritual phenomena, if you follow what I mean. I do not mean to indicate that it isn't all an illusion or all projection, but I allow you--what does your inner heart tell you? What does your inner feeling tell you? Therein you will find a conclusion. And when the time is right, there will be full disclosure as to what these realities are.

Question: Thank you, Saint Germaine, for coming. Is the moment of death, when it comes suddenly, like tragically through a car accident or some unusual phenomena, is it always God's will, or do people ever die just by mistake or it wasn't planned? I'm not clear about this point of death, and sometimes hard to accept.

Saint Germaine: Did you ever "accidentally" step upon a bug and kill it? (Yes.) Yes. Would you say that your foot was guided to do that? I seriously doubt it, don't you? In this world, which is imperfect, there are things out of harmony. There are things which are out of synchronization. Because mankind is out of proper alignment with the Creator, with our Father in Heaven, then many things are thrown out of the proper synchronization. When the spiritual world can truly become one with this world, when you can truly all hear our voice and see our presence, will we not be able to stop many things?

Even today in your world there are those who have prophesied airplane accidents, stopping them from taking place, or car accidents; foreseeing the unfolding of certain events. Were they the only ones to see such events? Was that the only accident to be stopped? There are not enough people on earth to cover all the possibilities. If there were many sensitives and many clear sensitives, then more information would be given to stop some of the things that happen, that do not need to happen.

But there is a higher law that abides. There is causation behind causation behind causation. And you cannot always know the higher causes. But God, being who He is, will make good out of every difficult situation; will bring resolve and a good ending to the worst of situations and circumstances. That's what you must look toward. I can say that those who truly seek to live their lives in harmony and in close synchronization with Heaven, that they will have few accidents; they will have few situations where they will be placed in danger. It is not just because of spirit, but because of their own efforts to live according to the law. When you live inside the law the law itself protects you. Do I make myself clear?

Question: When a person passes over to the spirit world, do they maintain their individuality?

Saint Germaine: The two worlds are really no different. Where on this earth you see by the light reflected from objects, to see them you must have the light. In our world, we see also. But it must be the light of understanding in our mind that reflects off of the phenomena around us before we can see it. If you have no understanding of the spiritual world when you come over, you will not see it.

But regarding the central aspect of your question, there is no change in the character or personality with what we call "death." There may be a great awakening, a quicker awakening on our side, because here you cannot lie, you cannot hide from reality; you cannot deny the truth and be free. You will be bound by your own ignorance. You will be imprisoned by your own darkness of mind. For what you think in our world is exactly what you are. No more, no less. As I have said in other places, you bring heaven with you. The heaven which you have within you, the beauty within you, the light within you through understanding, the accumulation of goodness within you through good deeds, serving others, is the light of your soul. This is if it was the filament, the usual building in the bulb of yourself. And the more good deeds, the more kindness, the more love, more selfless acts that you do, the larger is the wattage of self. And that light will shed itself on the surrounding phenomena and you will see clearly, if indeed you have been clear on earth. So you will see around you those individuals like yourself, according to the degree of the light which you have brought with you. Do you understand what I am saying?

It is really not so different. Here you see, ideally the colors of cars and the homes and the shapes of furniture and the kind of houses and the kind of property and land and places people live are often a direct reflection of their inner character. Their inner character is reflected in their surroundings, in many, many cases. Young people on your earth have a tendency to pick bright, fast cars. Older people tend to pick more reserved (not all cases--not in all cases), but generally tend to pick more reserved, darker colors and drive slower. It is all a reflection of the way they see life and where they are in life. For the young person there is no real sense of life ending. They think they shall live forever, so they drive fast. But for the older person, it is not just the slowing down of life in many cases, but the realization that life is precious. Whereas they have grown older, they have seen their body waste and they realize that time is precious. And life is precious. All these things are a reflection of character. Not always is this so, for there are those who if they had more money would buy things other than what they have. But even their state of poverty or their state of existence, even at its lesser level, is a direct reflection of the inner character, and who they are. If you want to study who people are, study what they buy. Study what they own. Here in the spiritual world, all the flowers, the people, the animals, the typography, the homes, the very atmosphere itself is the composite reflection of all the people, whether it's one or many, who live in one particular sphere. I can't say it any clearer.

Question: Saint Germaine, you lived a Christian life in the physical world. Last time you came to us you had us chanting. Are there many from different religious walks of life working with you? And, have other religions come to the realization of Christ being the only way?

Saint Germaine: You mean in the spiritual world? (Yes.) Which question shall I answer first? (Whichever one you want.) We could play handball, couldn't we?

. . . [change of side of tape] . . . What I gave to you, and I was there for a considerable amount of time, I learned to meditate, I learned to go inside. What Philip is learning and conveying to you is an essence, not just from me but others around him, but essentially from what I am teaching him. So I was only bringing to you a gem of what I learned. And I did not give it to you, did not have you do it just to have good feelings, but to help you raise your vibration and to create a dynamic atmosphere by the release of soul energy in the room, to enrich you, to bring healing, to draw forth through the greater energy more and more spirit world to engage in the evening and to be with you.

As far as here in the spiritual world, it is case by case. It is not different than your world. If you walk among Moslems, Buddhists, Christians, some meditate, some do not. Some hold it or regard it very highly, some are indifferent. It depends on their life experience and what they consider to be true and meaningful. Does everyone here accept that Christ is the highest? It is again case by case. To one Christ means one thing, and to another, another. Even Christians who have prayed in His name--some due to their bad experience with their local church "disdain" the name of Christ.

But we are in ascendancy, going from school to school, learning, gaining knowledge. But what we understand most importantly as we go to the higher levels of understanding is that true religion is love--true love. And that the church, the altar, the minister, the garments, the form, is simply that. Where there is love, true love, there is God. And where God is, is life. And it's that which we worship. Here in our world, we do not need to have Sunday worship as you do on earth. For our whole life is worship. The act of worship is service to each other. The altar of service is the human soul. God Himself comes to serve you. That is His act of worship. There are trappings and ideas and concepts which have nothing to do ultimately with the reality of God. But God allows the form as steps upon a ladder that one may climb higher and higher to deeper, more profound, broader, freer understanding.

True religion is true love. Wherever you may have religion, without it that's all it is--form. There are churches here, as you have read in your books, but they are not filled with those who are truly enlightened. Not unless they want to come back and reminisce what church was like. But if they are enlightened, they know the whole of creation is God's cathedral. And the adoration of God is the deep appreciation of all that He has created, and the expression of gratitude for that is the hymn. Have I made myself clear? (Yes.)

This is beautiful, you know. This truth is beautiful. This is true religion. So magnificent is it in the upper climes of the spiritual world that there are no words as was said here earlier. You cannot say; you have no words to express the beauty and the joy in the regions where God manifests most fully. You're in awe, in pure awe. And that sense of awe is your expression, unspoken, which God indeed appreciates profoundly. For you have recognized that He is greatest. He is genius of life. He is the source of all. And out of it, out of the beauty of His artistry, out of the beauty of His musicianship, out of all the aspects of His nature and character, are these things expressed. And as we appreciate them, as outer expressions, we appreciate Him, and that is glorious. Glorious! Glorious.

Question: I promise it won't if you let me [ask] a quick question:

How can we, honestly Saint Germaine, we're really grateful for the work that you've come and are working through Philip and Vivien, and really touched our hearts. There's no doubt that we need you desperately to help raise us up, so how can we in earnest help AIM in some way, to further advance their work so that your message could reach more? Truthfully, I have difficulty in meditating; in a sense I'm angered with Philip and Vivien because they haven't been able to get their tape out, so that I could practice every day; and maybe that's why I come once a month because it gives us an opportunity to meditate through their guidance. How could we help them help us?

Saint Germaine: It is important, and Philip above all would emphasize this if he were here, and I know you do not mean this, but it must be said: please look beyond us, to the God who sends us. And do your favors unto Him, by helping others up the ladder, and by comforting Him. And if you have something left over to help this work after that, then do what your conscience moves you to do. If I told you, really told you what needs to be done, I might scare you off.

But theirs is a course which had to be gone through; not an easy course, but one for which they are now grateful, but one which they had to go through that this phenomena could take place. As you can well imagine, it could not be just any one whom I could choose to come through. By this I do not mean to elevate this instrument; I'm simply saying the qualifications, even just getting someone to hear my voice, was very, very, very difficult. How many do you think I spoke to before I found this one? Countless. And many of them ran off, because when they understood what I was really asking and what it entailed, particularly the sacrifice, they were not interested. So that unique combination of characteristics had to be present.

There is always the need for prayer. Prayer is precious. And when you love something or someone so much and you send forth that heart through your prayers, it does much to help. It does much. This work is coming to a point, this year--I prophesied it a number of years back--it is coming to a point this year where it is developing its wings and taking off. Thank you for your kind question. As your heart is moved, so do.

Question: Saint Germaine, how is it possible for infants or young children to be influenced by spirits if they haven't yet had a possibility to create their own conditions or their own, they're too young to have give-and-take?

Saint Germaine: They are not always the ones who are responsible. There is sometimes a transference within a family in which a child may suffer because it is unprotected; but the causation can be other than that child. But, in general, mankind is born with a vulnerability, due to inbred nature, what you call fallen nature. The inheritance of this vibratory reality within the soul sets up a vibration, a literal scientific, emanating vibration, which draws to individuals what they are in kind.

Also, suffering is not always an indication that something is wrong. For even your most righteous individuals suffer, but it is not because they have the basis within them, but because they are suffering for something outside of themselves, to which they are attached in responsibility spiritually. Jesus of Nazareth being a very important example. Though he himself was without blemish, he was taking on to himself the troubles, the difficulties of his culture, and there was a transference of certain conditions on his back, due to their shortcomings. He came as a sacrifice to some degree. It is case by case, in which children unwittingly, unknowingly undertake certain sufferings. You cannot evaluate the life in the short run.

Not even you can do that. Some of you are despairing of your situations. Some of you have already designed in your mind, unconsciously, that you will never have it differently in your life, than you already have it. That is because you failed to know God. And to know the powers within yourself to transform, to change things. And God will help you because He loves you. And you fail to see things in the long run. He who fails to see things in the long run will often be very impatient, and will often cause his or her own problems by their impatience. As God is patient, so you must be patient. As God loves all mankind unconditionally, so you must come to love unconditionally. As God has sacrificed Himself for you, you must sacrifice yourself for others. That is, if in the equation of your life, you wanted to come out to equal oneness with God. The child that is suffering today may have a great mission in the long run.

So you must stay humble and positive, that in all circumstances to allow God to work out His plan. You are His handmaiden, you are His bride. And this wedding calls for total cooperation and oneness. And you must learn to grow in that relationship over enough time. The couple that quickly judges each other in the beginning of their marriage will have a very tough time. But the wise individual will endure, will wait to see what great goodness can come out of that one whom they married; will not be quick to judge or to lay unreasonable burdens upon the back of their mate, but will try to give love again and again by which that person may be changed. You know not what exists in the long run. This is the folly of youth, that it runs forward haphazardly, thinking that life will go on forever and ever; that there is no real accountability because retribution is not immediate. But I tell you the hells of our world here are filled with those who are impatient; who did not count the retribution that they would face here. No one gets off free.

I want to leave you on a positive note, and that is that each of you has the potential to do a great work. By great work I do not mean to be rich or famous--you will hear me say this many times. But rather to help others, to pray for others, to uplift others. And by such a mechanism, by such a dynamic in your life, will you be raised up. Therein lies the solution to most problems on earth. If each one would help the neighbor, the world would become heaven on earth.

Please don't doubt it. I'm writing to you within the Heavenly Father's permission. Dear Mrs. Jeong, I'm sorry for this help because this is not easy with your health.

Dr. Lee's stubbornness is beyond my description. Even though a person may be dying nearby, he will just follow Father's will without interruption. Dear Mrs. Jeong, please believe for sure what I'm saying now. If you come to this good sovereignty in spirit world, you'll know everything by feeling without other person's saying. You'll know everything by the light of Heavenly Father's holy spirit.

After I came to this spirit world I realized how wonderful our blessing (36 couple) is. Always I live with such a feeling that I talk with, give to, and attend Heavenly Father. Therefore, we can know all the Heavenly Father's will to work with us, to help us, and to make efforts for us. So, I'm speaking to you. I'm not a Han Sook Kim Satan. I'm in a significant Heavenly Father's throne (loyal place). I'm sorry that I have to ask you to help me.

Today I want to stop here. I'll write you again. Mrs. Jeong, I appreciate your efforts. In the future, whenever I come to you and beg for your help, please don't doubt me.

From Mrs. Jeong to Dr. Sang Hun Lee (1990.9.21)

Dear Dr. Lee: This is what Mrs. Lee spoke to me from spirit world a couple of days ago. Because Mrs. Lee asked me again and again to tell you, I'm writing to you even though I hesitated.

At the beginning I said to Mrs. Lee that I couldn't tell to Dr. Lee. Then Mrs. Lee said, "I'll tell you, so please write what I'm saying to you.", so I could not help denying her request. Even though I write this letter with care and sincerity, my writing style is still poor and I apologize.

I worried that where Mrs. Lee had taken care of him so well, who would fill such a place in Dr. Lee's heart. Until now I didn't visit and greet you, so I'm very sorry. How can I understand enough what Mrs. Lee explained to me? I cannot understand deeply enough what I heard, that the position of 36 couples in spirit world is so great and wonderful.

From Mrs. Lee to her husband [Dr. Sang Hun Lee] (1990.9.21)

Dear Dr. Lee: Dr. Lee, you are going only one way for the sake of True Parents' will, and I'm sorry that I came to this comfortable place before you.

For a long time our couples have come a lonely way, and have lived only for the sake of God's will. I do not regret that, but I do regret that we have not given our love enough to our children and families.

The essence of God's will is love, but we have lived only for vertical love because we have thought that the vertical love is true love. Dr. Lee, please look around beside you in order to know where UTI members live, and how much difficulties they have endured in their lives. I'm not talking about material riches or wealth. Of course materials are also an expression of the heart. On holidays, please send warm words to them, and give gifts to each family. Everyone has lost morale (bright spirit), and is looking for an opportunity to fly away like a migratory bird.

When I was on earth, you didn't listen to my suggestions. When I came here to spirit world, I realized that our love was too narrow. Please open your arms, and embrace your members in your loving wings. If this situation continues, all your members will leave you one by one because they think there is no hope and no love in UTI. To whom can you hand over such a great Unification Thought in your earthly life? When you come here, you must leave everything on earth. Please throw away useless precaution to them. Instead please love them, and embrace them. After I came to this great place I realized more seriously that is Heavenly Father's love.

Please you must practice God's love. I respect you as a person who knows only God's will. But please finish your life with the beautiful profound love. I'm very sorry because I was not such a wonderful wife, so I beg your pardon.

From Dr. Sang Hun Lee to his wife [Mrs. Lee] (1990.10.16)

Dear my loving wife: I received your letter well, which you spiritually transferred to Rev. Ho Woong Jeong's wife, Mrs. Young Soon Kim, was in prayer.

First of all, I trusted and accepted that letter as yours because it was written by Mrs. Jeong who is a good example to others in devotion and sincerity to God.

I'm truly happy for your principled advice which you communicated to your husband on this earth through a person within a year since you ascended to spirit world. And since you said that you are in such a wonderful place, it solved all the anxieties that I have had so far. I can thank only Heavenly Father.

Immediately I put your advice into practice. I visited every UTI family, listened to their life situations, and talked with their wife and children. We had entertainment with songs, prayed for their happiness, and treated dinner to their whole family at a nice restaurant. I then gave some petty cash to their wife and children when we left each other.

Now UTI members are Byung Kyu Lee, Kwang Pil Choi, Jong Sam Lee, Doo Jae Chang, Chul Ha Hwang, Won Boon Yoon, Duk Moon Yoon, Sang Hak Kwon, two Miss Kim's. For around 10 days I visited everyone and the result was great. They expressed great thanks and Joy for the unexpected visit and grace.

This plan to visit UTI members' families was by your request. And as a matter of fact the plan was scheduled a couple of months ago under the title "Challenge of Model Establishment for Ideal Society". From this year (1990) the preparation for building the ideal society (Kingdom of Heaven on earth) gets into its stride, and I plan to make UTI a model institute for the ideal family attending True Parents.

I planned to put True Parents seats in UTI, to let the members bow whenever they attend and leave office. Also this will raise their spirits up through a sermon on daily morning meetings, and form a family love atmosphere through visiting their homes. Then I planned to visit members' families between Sept. 25 and Oct. 6 because visiting families is good around the Thanksgiving holiday. Also we could give a bonus to them for True Parents around that time. Fortunately your sincere request was also on time, so it was successful.

In order to prepare for building an ideal society, we need cooperation with other institutes and I believe that this is a practice of horizontal love too. We have decided not to reject the request for cooperation by other institutes as long as it doesn't bother our Unification Thought Movements.

The day before yesterday, "The Determination Rally for the peaceful unification of my country" was held by WIFVOC at the freedom center in Unification town near the 38th DMZ line. Around 400 women members attended, and I gave a congratulatory address by the chairwomen at Mrs. Cho's request. Later I heard the audience was deeply moved by my speech and they appreciated it. I left home at 8 a.m. and came back after 8 p.m., because as you know, it takes time to give love to others.

In the future I want to finish Unification Thought Movement as a whole. I also want to publish an academic book about Unification Thought and ask younger members to teach Unification Thought. I want to make as much time as possible for giving love horizontally, as you request. This is a dream I have had before.

Don't worry about my successor on Unification Thought. Already by Fathers direction 20 Ph.D. members listened to 21 day Unification Thought lecture workshop. They completely became my successor, and are now working actively in US, Japan, and Europe instead of me.

I apologize about not listening to your request to take care of members while I'm on earth. Actually I had a great plan by myself, but I gave you a hard time. Now I apologize to you, so please resolve your disappointment with me which you have had until now.

I have one request. By Fathers direction, I might go to the Communist world to give Unification Thought. If it is the case, please help me from spiritual world as you did on earth.

Finally, every Sunday morning pledge I also pray to Heavenly Father for you. The points are "Please let her study Father's words (Divine Principle and Unification Thought) continuously. Please let her become the realization of his words through practicing love, becoming the realization of love, and to attend the line of brothers and sisters, and Great Mother Hong. Please let her help the holy mission, that is the Unification of South and North, and the Unification of the World".

I have prayed this content many times in front of your picture, but as a poor person in spiritual communication. I don't know whether this prayer was delivered to you or not, therefore I'm telling these things to you through Mrs. Jeong's help. Please accept this. If you have something which you really want to tell me, please write to me. I will appreciate that.

About our children, I will take care of them and guide them, so please don't worry.

Dear Dr. Lee: Once again I really feel that you are precious and important. By letting Mrs. Jeong read your letter, we the royal people in spirit world listened to all the content. They envied me by saying "You have a husband who is a real filial son to Father"

I heard all your requests. I'll practice but also I don't have a body, where can I go? I'll be beside you to help you.

Now honey, I'm afraid of asking you , how old are you now? If you work so hard I'm afraid that you will lose your health which is important for heavenly work.

Really I have resolved all the resentment. Even though I know that you don't have enough time to practice love for the office members and for horizontal relationship with others, I expect you to come here after you resolve our false life on earth. Please take care of your health. Please do your best to have filial piety toward True Parents. I really feel sorry because I, this stupid wife, didn't give more help to you.

Maybe you are curious about me. Please don't worry about me because the place I'm staying at is too good. Really I am fine.

From Dr. Sang Hun Lee to his wife [Mrs. Lee] (1991.11.15)

Dear Honey: I couldn't help avoiding writing a letter to you two years after you ascended into spirit world. Please forgive me for writing this letter even though I know you are busier in spirit world than the physical world.

Since I received two letters from you through the church leader Rev Jeong's wife, in Sept. and Oct. of 1990, the world has changed a lot in a year, and Father's providence has progressed, as you know, much more.

True Parents already restored eldersonship, parentship, and kingship, and then directed the hometown movement to tribal messiahs. Also True Parents initiated the concrete providence in preparation for the unification of South and North.

Father stands at God's position in substance, and Mother teaches God's words for educating and awakening women as the second founder of the Unification church. Last Oct. 31st WFPA (Women's Federation for Peace in Asia) was founded centered on Mother. Now Mother's era is opened. By this the true liberation of women who have suffered for six thousand years, has been realized by Mother.

A few days later, Mother gave an important message to 150,000 nationwide women's representatives at the national rally for the unification of South and North, and the unification of Asia. You are also women, so please help in spirit world.

I also spent some very busy times according to Fathers will as an editorial writer of Segae Times, and as director of UTI I attended International Conferences, that is, two seminars in Germany, one in US, and ICUS in Seoul. I tried to do my best to make good result for returning joy to True Parents.

By this letter I really want to give my appreciation to you. As a matter of fact the real purpose of this letter is to ask your help for my research in Unification Thought.

Because Unification Thought is Father's thought, and because I cannot go to spirit world and I cannot ask everything to Father, I have difficulties. Because you are now in spirit world, I am writing with hope you can help with something for your husband. Please don't feel any burden, and I will appreciate if you can just answer whatever you know or whatever you experienced.

First, you mentioned that your living place is almost a great blessed place where royal families live and love is full. I heard that in spirit world there are many levels from the highest level to the bottom of hell. I want to know whether you have been to the bottom of hell in order to give love. Especially I want to know whether you have met my physical parents and physical elder brother's couple in spirit world. Also I want to know anything about Mrs. Jeong Sook Koo.

Secondly, I also heard that in spirit world their lives have food, clothes and shelter as in the physical world. I want to know whether you live at a house, and live by eating food. I heard that in spirit world, house and food appear whenever we want, and disappear whenever we don't want. I want to know whether you live by experiencing these things.

Thirdly, I want to know how to communicate in spirit world where there is no air and no voices. I want to know whether you feel any voice in mind by communicating between two minds. I heard that in spirit world you also have beautiful music. I want to know how such music can be formed and transmitted in the mind.

Fourthly, I heard that spirit world is a world of love. In Divine Principle "Love is an emotional force given by the subject to the object". On earth in a case of horizontal love, we express such force by consoling with sweet words, by giving materials (money) or by helping through service and cooperation etc. to the poor and to the people in difficulties. I want to know how to express love, because in such a high level of spirit world where you live, there are no such people who are in difficulties, no poor people, and no such people who need help. That is there are no objects to express love. In other words I want to know how to express horizontal love to others, except the horizontal love between husband and wife (for the vertical love to parents we can express by filial attendance to them).

I want to know about the above four points, but please don't feel any burden. It is okay if you just answer what you know. If you don't know, don't respond, or you can say later after you get an answer from others.

While I give Unification thought lecture, the audience asks many kinds of questions to me. About the earthly things, I gave all the answers with Father's teachings, but about spiritual things, I couldn't give an answer, so I was very frustrated.

I am sorry for this long letter. Now I must stop here. Please invest total filial piety to True Parents together with brothers and sisters centered on Heung Jin Nim and Great Mother Hong in spirit world. Please come to Earth and help our Unification Thought movement on Earth. And if you have time, I hope you can help your husband.

Dear my beloved Dr. Lee: How much are you lonely on this season that the asphalt road becomes a road of fallen leaves and the chilly wind starts to blow? I never have had resentment towards you. I am more proud of you after coming to spirit world, even after I respected you on Earth who had always gone the right way. Please don't miss your meals. I am always beside you, but because I don't have a body you will not know about that. Please take care of your health and live a long life. You keep more filial piety to True Parents, don't you?

You have many questions. Mrs. Jeong's health is not good. She feels pain in her arms. She is writing this letter while her face is glowing with heat. I feel sorry and sympathetic toward her. Your questions are not personnel but public, so I cannot help but ask her.

First Question:

I live at the most royal place and I go to the lower poor place anytime, and I went there. You asked how I can help them. I comfort them by love and by words, and also I witness to the sinners, and I talk about True Parents too. But they are not willing to listen, like the people on earth. They don't pay attention but nevertheless, if I approach people who have some good merit on earth, they try to listen.

You asked how we can communicate. If we look at each other, our minds can have give and take. Once we look up, we can understand the loving light of the eye. In spirit world too, we always witness, like in the physical world. In order to witness we go to the lower places. Their lives and their faces are dark, and in this place where I stay, we communicate brightly with light.

You asked about Mrs. Jeong Sook Ku. She is very fine with me. She says to me that she feels sorry to her husband because she came here to this wonderful place earlier than him, and lives such a wonderful life, even though her husband is anxious about housework and children.

And I met your physical parents and all the relatives. Even though their living place is not so good, it is nonetheless okay. I insisted that they live together with me here and I will attend them. But they left here, saying that, "This wonderful place is not the place where I can stay." In spirit world we can come naturally to this wonderful high level place if our children or descendants pray a lot and accumulate merit.

I met your elder brother and his wife, but it seems to take a little more time for them to come to this nice place. They don't have a foundation of sincerity (prayer, serving). But they will come here soon because I am here and you are on Earth.

Your physical parents visited here where I am living, but your elder brother and wife didn't visit at all. They said to me that they don't deserve coming here to this nice place. In other words, they ask, "How can they come to this royal family place, a great place like the White House" .

Second Question:

Dr. Lee, maybe you think that here in spirit world we live naked, without clothes because spirit world is invisible, don't you? But we wear clothes. Maybe you ask me where the clothes are. If we think to wear some kind of clothes we can wear those clothes naturally. Since whatever we think happens, we don't worry about clothes, food, and shelter. It is incredibly convenient. But in the lower place, such poor people cannot do the same thing. Their position can be changed if their descendants do good deeds to others on the sacrificial holiday of Memorial Day. That is, their position can be changed to a higher level place.

Sometimes there is a special benefit that suddenly a person (spirit self) in a lower level place, comes here to a royal family place. This case happens if his descendants give great benefit to others, or do a good deed to others. That is , by good descendants, ancestors can go to a better place. There is nothing free in spirit world, too. The situation is the same as in physical world. I am happy because you do your best with filial piety

Third Question:

We can understand each other by feeling(mind by mind) even without calling name or shouting names as in the physical world. And if we want to listen to a hymn, suddenly the sound of a hymn reaches to our ears. In other easy words, whatever song or refined music we think reaches to our ears. Everything we can hear together. We can dance too. Always we can keep such a mood as flowers in the full moon. It is very difficult to express unless you come here. But in the lower level of spirit world, they don't have.

Fourth Question:

Really, love is the supreme. In spirit world also love is the most fundamental as in the physical world. Even though we are a royal family that lives together, we still have a difficult time. We have many struggles, but if we keep a loving mind, this mind is immediately transferred to the other and will melt those struggles like melting snow in spring. But if we go to a lower level of spirit world, love doesn't work at all.

In order to make effort for others to understand love and in order to show love by practice, we use money or materials in the physical world. But in the spirit world, money doesn't work well to solve problems. Instead we do make an effort by practicing a serving heart.

For horizontal love relationship, we give and receive through mind and eye, and for conjugal love we go to physical world. Even I go to you nearby many times you don't realize, but I come back with joy. Because I live in such a wonderful place, I don't know so much about the situations of the lower level of the spirit world.

Even though I went there a couple of times for witnessing, I don't know their deep situations. Always there are people crying, fighting, and some bad smells. In physical world you cannot imagine how hell is. Though I went there a couple of times, I realized that only love is highest. If we say that our living in a higher level place is like a bright weather, the lower level of spirit world is like a cold winter night, where there is no music. Really we cannot describe the lower level of spirit world.

What I really want to tell you is that because the life on earth remains as the expression of eternal life in spirit world. If you attend the True Parents with filial piety, you don't need to worry about whether you can come to this wonderful place in spirit world. If we witness to children, and descendants offer sincerity (devotion with prayer), we can come here to this wonderful place in spirit world, even without ancestors good merit. By Divine Principle, I feel this more profoundly and think deeply in my mind.

Dear Dr. Lee, you are always a public man, regardless of my staying on earth or in spirit world. Keeping apart from public, please give me, your wife some love too. Am I not a woman? Can you understand how much pained and sympathetic my mind is when I see you eating alone? I will be with you whenever you are alone. Thank you very much for your donation to Rev. Jeong's church, I'm really appreciative of it. Whenever you do such deeds I, even as a royal family, become honored as if I had treated others the same way. I am sorry to Mrs. Jeong for making too much effort in the letter this evening.

Dear Dr. Lee, I will never leave you. Please wear warm underclothes, and please take care of your health.

Dear Mrs. Jeong: How are you? I am Han Sook Kim. I am also so amazed that I cannot tell whether I am in spirit world or on earth. I came here to help with something for Mrs. Jeong's great job. And also Heavenly Father wants me to go. Heavenly Father asks me to tell the situations of spirit world to the people on earth.

Dear Mrs. Jeong, let's understand each other because you and I have the same heart to live for others. What can we not do if we want to live for the sake of the True Parents? If we cannot understand each other I cannot come to you because of being sorry. Please understand me. I want to write a letter for Dr. Lee. Please lend me some time. I am very sorry for that.

Dear Dr. Lee, I am Han Sook, your wife Han Sook Kim. How much did you wait for my news? I know all your heart. But how can I do. My heart longs for you. We are not the only couple who are separated from each other, and who miss each other in their hearts. I worry about your health. I know well that all the foods are not suitable to your health. You must live a long life. Please come here after you reveal the secret of spirit world, and thoughts of physical world, and God's will in detail on earth for the sake of True Parents by living a long life.

These days in this heavenly kingdom of spirit world flowers are in full bloom with the spring of blessing. When there are blessing events on earth, we in spirit world, are talking with each other about our euphoria (happiness), intoxicated with more ecstasy and beauty than earth, and blooming of flower of the mind.

We prayed a lot for True Parents health. Rev. Hyo Won Eu (the first president of HSA-UWC in Korea) gives DP lecture restlessly, Heung Jin Nim and Great Mother Hong pray again and again for True Parents health with incredible sincerity. Especially Great Mother Hong prays unceasingly for True Mother, True Children, and True Grandchildren. Everyday our life consists of prayer, singing our hymn's, and service. Our life is such a beautiful heavenly kingdom life. But without coming here you cannot understand. In conclusion it is just happy. I am not such a person who follows wherever you go and controls you whatever you do. But always I pray for you.

Dear Dr. Lee, can't our children receive pre-marriage blessing? There is no exception. For the happiness in this world we must receive blessing. But it is pitiful that I cannot show this world to you. Before you come to this world, please you must accomplish our child's blessing. Otherwise we will not have a foundation.

Dear Dr. Lee, thank you. I really appreciate you because you hold memorial service in advance to make me not alone. I thank you and respect you, because you are careful (shrewd). Today Heavenly Father gave me a graceful long time, so I'm writing a long letter to you. In this spirit world, love is really precious. So we need only love. It is not the love of material, but the love of mind.

Dear Dr. Lee, whenever you feel alone, please look at this flower (oriental orchid) which I gave to you. This is my gift for you. Dear Dr. Lee, even though I miss you but I don't wait for you to come here soon. Please live a long life, and please attend the True Parent's will forever.

The waiting and my missing heart for you is much stronger in this world, but I will overcome and pray for God's will on earth. Please say to our children that I am very fine.

Zin Moon Kim, Dawning of the Completed Testament Era

This is a report on the Region 11 Leaders' Meeting, which took place February 1, 1993 at 43rd Street. In the meeting, Rev. Zin Moon Kim summarized Father's words given at leaders' meetings January 29 and 30. I also include material from the 43rd Street members' meeting last November, which helps for clarification.

I. Starting the Completed Testament Era and the New Family

1) The OT Era is the age represented by elder people, centering on grandparents. The purpose is to restore fallen Adam.

2) The NT Era is the age represented by youth, centering on parents. The purpose is to restore fallen Adam's family.

3) The CT Era is the age represented by teenagers, centering on teenagers. The purpose is to restore fallen Adam's nation and world.

"The core providence is to restore families, centering on the mother. The mother and children unite to restore the father, and thus the entire family is restored. The school which teaches this is the "House of Unification for World Peace". Finally, centering on the restored fathers, we create the" Family Party of Unification for World Peace." Political parties should cooperate with each other."

"For the first time in history, people can join the providential religion without leaving home. In line with this, if you have no special mission elsewhere, you should go to your hometown. Tribal Messiahship is Jesus' mission; WFWP is the Holy Spirit's mission. Through these two missions, we can be reborn. Therefore, everyone should participate."

4) Completion Era of the New Family. Fulfillment of the three great kingships and four great realms of heart. A family completely united with the True Family is a new family.

5) Completion Era of the New Tribe. This is grassroots Tribal Messiahship.

6) Completion Age of the New Nation. Everyone is equally heartistically rich, even if there are variations of external wealth according to position, temperament, effort.

7) Completion Age of the New World.

8) Completion Age of the New Cosmos. On every level from God to your family, everything is interacting harmoniously.

II. The New Family and the Unification of the Fatherland

1) Unity of mind and body. Mind and body unity refers to unity of the spirit mind and physical mind. On the level of society and nation, the ministry of religion and education is more important than the ministry of the economy. If the ministry of economy is put in a higher position, the country has no future.

2) Unity of husband and wife. Don't have children by accident, without purpose. If you do, the child will lack a purpose to live. Prepare to have a child; make the concentration of your conscience.

3) Unity of the family. If you don't accomplish this unity on earth, you will be separated in spirit world. The Blessing does not guarantee family unity in the spirit world.

4) Unification of the tribe (crossing three generations).

5) Unification of the race.

6) Unification of the nation.

7) Unification of the world.

8) Unification of the cosmos.

9) The unification of God refers to the liberation of God from His divided mind, divided between sorrow over the suffering of hell and joy over the True Parents' victory.

"If we do all of this, then mine is a new family. All such families united together comprise the unified fatherland. All levels of unification follow from the four great realms of heart and three great kingships."

III. Realm of the New, Unified Tradition

The method to practice the tradition may vary, leader by leader. Each person likes to be a little different; this is the meaning of unique value. The "how" is of secondary importance; the "why" is the real tradition. "Know-why" is far more important than "know-how." Our core tradition is "life for the sake of others." This is the "why."

1) Change of lineage, centering on True Love. This happens as a result of Father's sacrifice and crucifixion, which was for your sake. If you comprehend this, you will be speechless. If we keep the husband/wife moral principle intact, we will not need any other laws.

2) Change of ownership, centering on True Love. Everything is God's and mine; therefore, I cannot use it just according to my own desires.

3) Change of the realm of heart.

4) Forming a world of one cultural realm. For example: children serving parents is universal; hence it is part of the one cultural realm. But the "how" children serve parents may vary.

5) A peaceful world.

6) Heavenly kingdom on earth and in heaven.

IV. Confrontation of the absolute satanic age and the absolute heavenly age

This means we are in the era of the complete manifestation of the satanic tradition and the complete manifestation of the heavenly tradition. The representative nation of this phenomenon is the United States.

1) Exact 180 degrees opposition of God's sovereignty and Satan's sovereignty.

2) Our job is to expel Satan, beginning with the individual, by mind/body unity. Therefore, self-chastisement: cold showers, fasting, prayer.

3) Expel Satan from the family.

4) Expel Satan from the tribe.

5) Expel Satan from the race.

6) Expel Satan from the nation.

7) Expel Satan from the world.

8) Expel Satan from heaven and earth.

V. Age for the solution of family problems and national problems

Among family problems, the problems of teenagers are the most serious. Among national problems, worldwide problems are the most serious.

1) Unity of the brothers and sisters, centered on the mother.

2) Unity with the mother, and salvation of the father.

3) Parents and children unite for family unification.

4) Tribal Messiahship.

5) National Messiahship.

6) World Messiahship.

7) Restoration of ancestors.

8) Restoration of hometown.

9) Liberation of God.

Conclusion:

Until now, the providential path has demanded departure from the world, family, parents, husband and wife, and brothers and sisters. You had to depart in order to win against Satan. Now conditions are set for you can return to your hometown to restore all of this. You can't go to your hometown thinking everything is finished. You have eight levels. Without a battle, without a fight, you cannot go to the next level. You must subjugate Cain in Satan's world, level by level. Cain must voluntarily place you in the elder position and follow you. After victory in Satan's realm, then return to hometown and settle, centering on God, on the individual, family, society, nation, world and cosmic levels. You will be erecting the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and in heaven.

It is very complicated, so all you need to do is follow Father. By simple obedience to Father, the path is very clear.

Elder sonship, parentship, kingship and royal familyship are categories included in the Principle of Restoration. Childship, parentship and grandparentship are included within the Principle of Creation.

Three stages: Environment-->Subject-Object-->Reciprocation. The subject creates the environment in which subject and object can unite; then reciprocal relationship takes place. This applies both to Principle of Creation and Principle of Restoration.

Last Days a True Time Of Turmoil

"This recently appeared in the" Gloucester Daily Times "(12/13/92)".

Since I came to Gloucester nine years ago, I've seen many of my friends getting divorced. Each time I hear of a new case, it is so painful, for it means a broken family. It also means suffering for both partners, and suffering for the child who loses the most precious thing, the love that conceived him, altering his sense of belonging, security and compassion.

How can this happen? It all started with the first couple. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were naked and not ashamed. God gave them the commandment not to eat of the fruit. The fruit was not a literal one, it was the fruit of love to be consummated when their heart would have been matured.

Tragically they moved away from God, got tempted by Satan and disobeyed. After they ate the fruit, what did they cover? Not their mouth, but the lover parts of their body, place of their transgression.

As a result, their offspring never knew true love. Of their own children, Cain killed Abel, and all their descendants suffered from that very start. The fight still goes on today between countries, races and religions. Hate took over love.

If man had grown according to God's will and had inherited true love from God, our human history would have been a history of peace. But Satan, who was the archangel Lucifer assigned by God to assist Adam and Eve in their growth to perfection tempted them instead and they fell while still immature as teen-agers. The seed of false love, false life and false blood lineage was sown.

To hide his crime, Satan tries to confuse people about values. People turn to drugs, sex, alcohol and substitutes, trying to change partners, desperately searching for that lost love. The bitter outcome is deception and destruction AIDS is spreading.

The act of love which was supposed to be holy, is now sold on the market. "Get a condom with a pizza is the latest! Love shouldn't have to be taught in school, it is a God given ability to be used at the right time when oneself is ready to live for the sake of the other one and build a family.

Children learn values from the example of the parents but for the fruit to ripen, he needs to grow on a tree that can stand to the storms.

We must return to the original ideal or God with a heart burning, rededicating and recommitting with trust in him and the desire that we will never depart from him

The last days is a time of turmoil, but also a time of hope. If we repent in tears, and start anew, God is ready to bless us.
