To Leaders From The World Wide Church

February 23, 2010

As you can see the Cheon Bok Gung Temple has been built. You're sitting in it! We always saw it in pictures and heard about it but now it is built. This is the growth stage, as you know. And we had True Parents, we were able to attend True Parents here just the other day on the 21st. That was really so special. Mother gave such a tearful prayer after the opening ceremony. Father really gave his heart, as you saw, when he was up there. And I told you this when we met earlier, I told you when we declare True Parent Os in the right way, and when we are able to do our job, which as leaders, is to declare the Lord of the Second Advent, the messiah has come. If you are a leader in the Unification Church, that is your job. That is your occupation -- to believe in the messiah, to declare the messiah, and to bring confidence to the people who are saved by the messiah. When we do that properly, when we don't hide it, we don't fudge it at all, then Parents feel confident. As you noticed I mentioned a couple of days before, did you notice Father doesn't speak twelve or thirteen hours when we properly declare him?

And as you saw at the event, we both, Kook Jin hyung and I, strongly declared him as the Messiah. We did have VIPs and the vice-mayor of Seoul City was there. The head of the CIA was there, he is one of the highest government officials in the country. He is president of the KCIA. He was sitting right in the crowd, right in front of you guys. We have two former presidents of Korea that came out of that particular position. So it's an extremely high position. He reports directly to the president every week. He actually came on Kook Jin hyung's personal invitation.

Mine and Kook Jin hyung's experience after having witnessesed in the Che Dan over 1,000 new members, having had them donate to the Unification World Temple, the new members have donated over seven million dollars to the temple. Everyone told us that was impossible. Korean people will not donate. No new members will donate to the Unification Church. This was the culture, the level of faith that was alive in the church, very low. And so whenever we heard that stuff we said, 60,000, maybe you think that, but we believe. We moved forward and we made the results. New members, witnessing, declaring True Parents, bringing higher level VIPs than we ever could.

Because why? We are confident what we believe. We believe what we believe. We don't hide it. We don't let anyone take our religion or our faith away. We are confident we know that True Parents are the Lord of the Second Advent. I have studied religion and I have seen all the founders of the religions, studied them. There is no founder that is more successful than True Parents, none, during the time of the founder. To have this much of a world foundation, you can even be totally secular and admit that. But our leaders and members, we should not even be close to that level. Objectively speaking we can say that. We should really have confidence in True Parents. This is the real key to the Unification Church's success. It comes through no other medium only through True Parents we will succeed and fulfill our destiny. And this, I think, is the hope of our church.

At True Parents birthday celebration, which was on Friday, AP requested an interview. So I did a brief interview with them actually while they -- the members -- were singing and festivities were all around me. We just did it on the side of the room and they asked me a couple of questions, you know, about Father's health, etc., etc. He is extremely healthy. And then they asked me a question, -- So, you are the head of the Unification Church, you are the international president, you are the highest religious authority in the church under Rev. Moon.

So are you his successor? And I said, -- No. And I'll tell you why, because my Father is the messiah and there is no other messiah. There is no other messiah. He has a messianic mission. We don't have the mission, we are apostles. We declare the messiah has come, the Lord of the Second Advent has come, that is our role. Of course Father uses terminology that we have to become tribal messiahs and family messiahs but there is only one person that reveals and substantiates the essence of God. That person is our True Parents. They are the ones who have revealed the truth of God's essence and divinity. They are the ones who revealed the purpose of creation, the purpose for which human kind exists. -- We must not see True Parents with our physical eyes, we've done that too much. We have really lost our spiritual scenes. In the sense that we have viewed and tried to show to the world a more popular vision of True Parents as some kind of peace activists, or some kind of educator. They are not peace activists or educators. They are the Lord of the Second Advent -- Do you understand? They are the messiah.

That is totally different. There is only one. There are tons of peace activists. There are many peace proponents, many, many around the world. Even in history there were many people who worked for peace. But there is only one Lord of the Second Advent, that comes to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ and who fulfills that role through the substantiation and total inheritance of God's essence through his life. And only our True Parents have accomplished this task. When we understand this then we can have our spiritual scenes open, and we can start seeing what kind of individuals we stand before. So at the event, I tried to remind people, "If you stood in front Jesus Christ the Lord and Messiah, if you stood before him, what kind of attitude, with what kind of mind would we stand before Jesus?"

We are living what the apostle Paul only could dream of. It's absolutely incredible. Brothers and sisters, I'm not crying because I'm sad, I'm crying because it's amazing.

Because I feel totally blessed to be able to witness what we have for True Parents. I never knew the extent, the path that they had to walk. I always understood them as my father and mother, you know the normal thing -- why didn't they come to my school plays? Or why didn't they, why couldn't they encourage me? Why are they not home? Why do we have all these people always at our house? You know all the normal stuff that kids complain about. But I never understood who they were. And even in my own immaturity I tried to secularize them, tried to forget, leave out the messiah and Lord of the Advent stuff. But the more I got to study religion, the more I got to understand the founders of the church, how serious were the founders, so radical. All the religious leaders -- extremely radical. They break away from tradition.

Usually they think the Buddha is quite calm and meditating all the time. He was totally breaking away from tradition... There were parts of his life. Jesus of course we all know. The prophet Mohamed we know. The more I got to understand, slowly at least my intellectual mind began to play with the idea that True Parent's are incredible religious leaders, but that was basically the level I arrived at after all my studies, in the school and all that. They are amazing religious founders, they have done an impossible task. And you can only say God bless them. God bless what True Parent's do.

But it was really after I really started practicing. I never tithed in my life. I never was told to tithe. Did you know that? Did you know that? It's crazy. I was never told to tithe. So I didn't tithe until I started ministry. Then I started tithing.

Then I started doing all the special donations that's True Parent's were requesting. Or whatever. Doing the conditions. Still doing the training. Working in the ministry. Meeting members. Going to houses whatever. Doing my stuff. Then something like, I feel something was happening, you know. Going from free loader to owner. Free rider.

Going from the point where, oh our members in Japan, suffering for the rest of the world. There was this whole culture of rhetoric, "They have to do that because they colonized Korea." That was a terrible excuse to make Japanese members suffer. Going to see them, sleeping in the churches. I was visiting them trying to encourage them.

No more, I realized, no more. We are going to have to step up and become owners and responsible and mature, all of us. And we are going to start with the Korean Church, which we did. We started with the Korean Church becoming fully financially stable, so that we do not receive Japanese blood.

Our brothers and sisters. Because I've been to Japan over twenty times now, visiting the members, going to the churches, sleeping in the churches. I've been to the smallest church in Japan. It's tiny, very tiny.

And we really took them for granted. I realized what a sin we have committed. Because I had been in church environments, where people actually made fun of the Japanese. Oh they are just fanatics. Oh you know the Japanese. They used to make fun of them as if that were some radical faith, or as if it was part of the Japanese psyche, to want to practice that kind of religion. I tell you its not. They are people like you and me. Just as much as you do not want to give up you children's education fund that you have saved for, our Japanese members don't either but they have done it. Just as you enjoy your house, or your car that you drive. So when I went to try to encourage them, in whatever way, we just tried to do as much as we could do. We made rules, you know when we went to Japan, they always want to give true children thank you donations. We said we are not going to take anything. We didn't come here to get a thank you donation -- we came here to try to encourage you. We are not going to receive any gifts. No gifts allowed. I'm not going to receive any gifts. I don't come here to receive gifts. Don't prepare a hotel room, I'm going to go to the church. We are going to sleep in the churches. And we are going to pray together. We are going to bow together. We are going to train together. And we are going to believe together.

They truly changed my life. And so I was in quite a dilemma because I have to try to spiritually guide living saints... The lowest of which is 100 times, 1000 times beyond me. And so it was quite a challenge, because spiritually I was not yet opening my eyes to True Parents. I was teaching Divine Principle, I was sermonizing, preaching on the pulpit.

I was in that kind of extraordinary dilemma. If I'm going to have any impact on these saints, Father, it's not going to come out of my own ability. So it was in that time that I entered into more intensive practice and prayer, where True Father revealed, just like the transfiguration, where Jesus showed who he was to his disciples. Where he stood there in front of the disciples. With Moses and Elijah above them all. Completely transfigured, illuminating his eyes burning like ten thousand suns. That's when True Father revealed the seven deaths and resurrections. That completely... completely changed everything for me because I'd never understood, I never thought True Parent's died for me.

Never. Yes they suffered, fought long to build the church. I never thought that they laid down their life for me. But when I realized, that even greater than Christ, he died for a fool like me. Willingly, sacrificing their soul so I can be free. So my children can see the Kingdom of Heaven. Not just once like Christ, but constantly laid down their life to fulfill every stage of indemnity that occurred since the fall. And that they were resurrected by the power of True Love.

And then at night after that vision, after they showed me that, that night I saw Father coming to me spiritually. I saw his face, and it was like the transfiguration. His face was totally like the sun. It was so bright I couldn't look into it. I knew he was there. His eyes were like, just in the Bible it describes. And that night I wrote the repentance letter. I never knew who you were True Parent's. I never believed.

But, I was such a coward. I didn't go the next day to go see them. I felt so ashamed. That's the kind of fool that they died for, I can't even go see them. But I did go see them eventually -- I did. I said to them, "I never knew." And Father said, "Finally you understand." Because I realize Father couldn't tell us. He couldn't tell us because the True Love that he taught gives and gives and forgets. Forgets that it has given, even its life it forgets. It will forget. It will erase. I realized True Father has lived his teaching, the teaching. He has done the impossible. Not just in the world. But the impossible.

And from that point I went from always having some kind of reservation, some kind of intellectual doubt about who True Parents were, to becoming a believer in True Parents. Then I was reborn. My sermons have changed. My devotion had changed. My life has completely changed. Now I understand why Christians all cry, and go crazy when they are reborn. When they talk about eternal life, why they jump with joy. I can finally get it. So that's why it's such an amazing blessing. It's such a profound blessing. That we can be here doing this for the messiah. It's incredible. It's incredible. And it's not a work. It is completely fun doing it. I feel alive doing it. I read the apostles I hear the words of their acts. You know, I can feel that I can understand why they're doing that. How when they testify it brings so much joy.

The Cheon Bok Temple Has Been Built

Hoon Dok Hae
Cheon Bok Gung, Yongsan, Seoul Korea

The following is an edited transcript of Hyung-jin nim speaking to a group of national leaders who were in Korea to attend the annual National Leaders Assembly.

Good morning, everybody. I hope you had a very wonderful time in Korea, in this historic time. You may even be tired because of all the festivities! You know I mean physically, but I hope you feel spiritually enriched and have found new hope.

As you can see, the Cheon Bok temple has been built, and you're sitting in it! [Laughter] We'd only seen it in pictures and heard about it, but it's actually been built. This is the growth-stage temple, as you know. We were able to attend True Parents here, just the other day on the 21st, and that was special. Mother gave such a tearful prayer after the opening ceremony.

I don't know if all of you were at the ceremony. I think some of you were. Brothers and sisters from all over the world attended it. We had a couple of hundred brothers and sisters from Japan, of course from Korea, and from different regions and continents. All the people that attended were victors. They had given, invested their blood, sweat and tears, to build the world temple. Each person sitting in that auditorium was a victor1 in donating over twelve thousand dollars for the temple to be built. And each one of those names is up on the wall. Of course, there were so many more that were victorious in that special devotion but due to the size and capacity…

We were able to attend True Parents on that special occasion. True Father really gave his heart, as you saw when he was up there. I told you when we met earlier, that when we are able to declare True Parents in the right way and do our job, which as leaders is to declare that the Second Advent of the Lord, the Messiah, has come. If you're a leader in the Unification Church, that is your job; that is your occupation -- to believe in the Messiah, proclaim the Messiah and bring converts, people that are saved, to the Messiah. When we do that properly and we don't hide it at all, True Parents feel confident. Did you notice that Father didn't speak twelve or thirteen hours, when we properly declared him? As you saw at the event, we both -- Kook-jin hyung and I -- very strongly declared him as the Messiah. We did have VIPs. The vice-mayor of Seoul was there. …

The head of the 2012 Yeosu Expo was also present. So we had a totally new upgrade in the level of VIPs that we not only bring to an event but to the actual Unification Church. We have them participate in the service and worship with them. This is a difference in how we are operating. We don't use "Family Federation," as you know. We've graduated from "Family Federation." We don't hide our identity. We're confident, we're proud of our faith and our belief in True Parents. Aju! [Aju!] This is why we declare them. At first, when we were doing such things, we had many people saying, "If you do that, the VIPs are going to run; we're not going to be able to keep these VIPs. We're not going to be able to witness to people.

Kook-jin nim's and my experience -- after we witnessed to over a thousand new members in our business foundation, who donated to the Unification World temple (the new members have donated over seven million dollars to the temple) -- is that everybody told us it was impossible. They claimed that no Korean people would donate to the Unification Church. This was the culture. This was the level of faith that existed in the church; it was very low. Whenever we heard that stuff we'd said, "Okay, maybe you think that. But we believe." And we moved forward and made the results -- new members, witnessing, declaring True Parents, bringing higher level VIPs than we ever could before.

Why? We are confident in what we believe. We believe what we believe. We are confident; we don't hide it. We don't let anybody take our religion, our faith away. We are confident. We know True Parents are the Second Advent of the Lord. I have studied religion and all the founders of religions. No founder was as successful as True Parents; none during the life of the founder had this much of a foundation in the world. Even if you were secular, you'd have to admit that. We should have confidence in True Parents. This is the real key to the Unification Church's success. It comes through no other medium. It is only through True Parents that will we succeed and fulfill our destiny. This is the hope of our church.

At True Parents' birthday celebration on Friday, the AP 2 requested an interview, so I did a brief interview with them while the festivities were under way. We just did it on the side of the room. They asked me a couple of questions about Father's health, etc. I said Father is very healthy. Then, they asked me, "So, you are the international president. You are the highest religious authority in the church under Rev. Moon. Are you his successor?"

And I said "No; and I'll tell you why. Because my father is the Messiah and there's no other messiah. He has a messianic mission. We don't have the messianic mission. We are apostles. We declare that the Messiah has come, that the Second Advent of the Lord has come. That is our role."

Of course, Father uses terminology such as "tribal messiahs," "family messiahs," saying we have to become these. But the only ones who reveal and substantiate the essence of God are our True Parents. They are the ones who have revealed the truth of God's essence and divinity. They are the ones who revealed the purpose of creation, the purpose for which humankind exists. Jesus may have died for us, to save our souls once, but our True Parents have died for us seven times in order to fulfill all the conditions of indemnity that were required, at every single stage -- from the individual to the family, tribe, society, nation, world and cosmos, so that we could enter the eighth stage, the stage of God's direct dominion, which we call heaven, or Cheon Il Guk.

We have to understand what True Parents are. I have been constantly reinforcing, reiterating, the point that we must not see True Parents with physical eyes. We've done that too much in our movement. We have lost our spiritual senses in that we have viewed and tried to show to the world a more popular vision of True Parents as some kind of peace activist or educator. They're not peace activists and educators. They are the Returning Lord. They are the Messiah! That is totally different. There are tons of peace activists, many world peace proponents -- many, many around the world. Even in history, there were many people who worked for peace, but there is only one Second Advent of the Lord, who comes to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ, and who in fulfilling that substantiates and totally inherits God's essence through his life. Only our True Parents have accomplished this task. When we understand this, we can have our spiritual senses opened and we can start seeing what kind of individuals we are standing in front of.

At the event, I tried to remind people that if you stood in front of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Messiah, what kind of attitude, what kind of mind-set would we have in front of Jesus? If you were standing in front of the Buddha, if you stood in front of him, with what kind of attitude would we stand in front of him? When we meet the Dalai Lama, "Oh!" What if you stood in front of the Buddha? If you were standing as a Muslim in front of Prophet Muhammad, what would be in your heart? Do you understand that all those saints and sages bow down to True Parents? If you can imagine that, the people, the great saints, whom we adore and respect, whom we study with great awe and worship, the very great saints that we love deeply bow down in front of True Parents because they have inherited, actualized, discovered and lived through the greatest love.

They have shown the world the highest true love. It's not the love of Jesus Christ, who defined the greatest love as the love from a man who would lay down his life for his friends -- as he did. He had thorns pressing into his skull. He had his body hung from a cross, nails hammered in, speared in his side -- his life exiting. He laid down his life for his friends, and his spirit descended onto hell to save the souls that were waiting, to bring them to our Father in heaven. He was resurrected on the third day. The resurrection of Christ! Jesus rose from the grave. The greatest love -- a love with which a man would lay down his life for you and me, sinners -- imperfect, full of sin -- so that we could enter the kingdom of heaven. Did you understand?

That is an incredible love; Christ's love has totally transformed the world. Just look at the last two thousand years. Many of you are from democratic countries. Democracy was advanced by the American founders. Of course, they were intellectuals, but they were also religious people, Christians. The world has been changed by Jesus' love. Millions have been changed by the Buddha's compassion; even now, a billion have been changed by the Prophet Mohammed's receiving God's word. But above all those, who laid down their life for you, over and over again? Who died and went to hell for us, over and over again with the heart of a parent to save their children, with the heart to endlessly perish and sell even their souls so that we would be free from that, so our children and our grandchildren could be free from that kind of torture and suffering?

Who would do such a thing? True Parents did such a thing. When we understand this, we can understand who and what True Parents are and have done. We can understand the immensity of their accomplishment. We can feel the texture and the power of true love. Can you feel it? This, brothers and sisters, I guarantee you, is going to change the world. I guarantee you. Christ's love has transformed the world over the past two thousand years. When the world comes to truly understand what true love is and who has fulfilled and completely inherited that and given it to us freely, when they understand who that person is, when they truly understand, the world will be changed.

This is why your jobs are so important. Because you are leaders in our international church, and you are the ones who are to teach and spread what True Parents' true love is. You are like the Apostles. You must go out and declare what True Parents have done for the world.

That Jesus went out and performed miracles, or that he went out and broke bread with his disciples and was very down to earth is not what Christians go out and declare. They declare that Jesus died for our sins. He laid down his life for sinners like you and me, so that we could find eternal life, and so that we who are undeserving could be free in heaven and be reborn, become new creatures in Christ, and become people who bring God's love to the world. Isn't that awesome and amazing? If you think about it, it's absolutely remarkable.

This is our job. And, oh, what a wonderful job it is! Because who in the world can feel and be surrounded by this kind of true love? Who in the world at this time can have the honor to witness to and testify on behalf of the Lord? It's an absolute miracle. Don't you stop sometimes and think, "My God, it's a miracle! I can live at the time of, declare and witness to the living Christ."? That is a dream Christians have had for the last two thousand years and that Paul was so fervently waiting for. We are living what the apostle Paul could only dream of. It's absolutely incredible. Brothers and sisters, I'm not crying [Hyung-jin nim laughs] because I am sad! I'm crying because it's amazing, and because I feel totally blessed to be able to witness on behalf of True Parents.

I never knew the extent of the path that they had to walk. I always understood them as my father and mother, you know, the normal things -- why didn't they come to our school plays? Why aren't they home? Why do we have all these people always at our house? [Hyung-jin nim laughs] You know, I felt all the normal stuff that kids complain about, but I never understood who they were. And in my own immaturity I even tried to secularize them, tried to forget and leave out the Messiah and returning Lord stuff. But the more I studied religion, the more I understood the founders of those religions and how serious those founders are -- so radical! They were all extremely radical. They broke away from tradition.

We usually think the Buddha is quite calm and meditative all the time. He totally broke from tradition! There were plots on his life. Jesus, we know about. The Prophet Mohammed, we know about. The more I came to understand, slowly, my intellectual mind began to play with the idea that True Parents are incredible religious founders. But that was basically the level I arrived at after all my studies in Divinity School and all that. They're amazing religious founders. They have accomplished an impossible task. You can only say that God blesses what True Parents do. But it was really after I started practicing the Unification Church faith…. I had never tithed in my life; I was never told to tithe. Did you know that? That's crazy! I was never told to tithe, so I didn't tithe…until I started the ministry. Then I started tithing and I started making all the special donations, doing the conditions, still doing my training, working in the ministry, meeting the members, going to their houses -- all those things. Then I could feel something was happening, as I was going from freeloader, free-rider, to owner.

There was this whole culture of rhetoric: "Oh, our members in Japan have to do that because they colonized Korea." That was a terrible excuse to make the Japanese members suffer. Going and seeing them, sleeping in the churches, visiting them, trying to encourage them, I realized. No more, no more. We are going to have to step up and become owners, responsible and mature, all of us. And we are going to start with the Korean church, which we did. We started with the Korean church becoming fully financially stable, so that we do not receive Japanese blood from our brothers and sisters. I've been to Japan over twenty times now, visiting the members, going to the churches, sleeping in the churches. I've been to the smallest church in Japan. It's tiny, very tiny. We really took them for granted.

Every time we requested money from True Parents to help our local area churches, guess who paid for that? I never thought about it until I actually saw the people. I realized what a sin we have committed, because I had been in church environments where people actually made fun of Japanese members. (Oh, they're just fanatics! You know the Japanese…) They used to make fun of them as if that were some kind of radical faith, as if it were part of the Japanese psyche to want to practice that kind of religion. I tell you it's not. They are people like you and me. As much as you do not want to give up your children's education fund that you've saved for, our Japanese members don't want to either, but they've done it. Or your car that you drive. They also enjoyed their car and their house, which they have donated to the church.

You may have accumulated assets you are investing in different stocks; they also appreciate those things, but they have liquidated all that for the church. When I understood this and saw those people -- my God those living, breathing people -- we had totally dehumanized them to see them as fundamentalists, fanatics, who just love donating to True Parents. I'm sorry. They are in pain, in tears when they have to donate their car and their house, but they do it, because their faith is incredible. They do it because they believe in True Parents as the Messiah and the Second Advent of the Lord. They are the heroes of our church and they have been for the last thirty years.

So, when we went to try to encourage them in whatever way we could, we made rules. Whenever we went to Japan, they wanted to give Thank You Donations. We said, "We're not going to take anything. We came to try to encourage you. We're not going to receive any gifts. No gifts allowed. I don't come here to receive gifts. Don't prepare a hotel room. I'm going to go to the church. I'm going to sleep in the churches. And we're going to pray together. We're going to bow together. We're going to train together. And we're going to believe together."

They truly changed my life, all the brothers and sisters, those living saints. I was in quite a dilemma because I have to spiritually guide living saints, the lowest of which is a hundred times, a thousand times beyond me. It was quite a challenge, because spiritually I was not yet opening my eyes to True Parents. I was teaching Divine Principle. I was sermonizing, preaching from the pulpit. I was in that kind of extraordinary dilemma where I just had to surrender. If I'm going to have any impact on these living saints, Father, it's not going to come out of my own ability. So, it was during that time that I entered into more intensive practice and prayer, where True Father revealed, just like the transfiguration where Jesus showed who he was to his disciples, where he stood there in front of the disciples with Moses and Elijah, above them all, completely transfigured, illuminated, his eyes burning like ten thousand suns.

That's when True Father revealed the seven deaths and resurrections. That completely, completely changed everything for me, because I had never understood. I never thought that True Parents had died for me -- never. Yes, they suffered and they built the church… I never thought that they had laid down their lives for me. But when I realized that being even greater than Christ, they had died for a fool like me, willingly sacrificed their souls so I could be free, so my children could see the kingdom of heaven -- not just once like Christ but constantly to fulfill every stage of indemnity that had occurred since the Fall.

And I realized they'd been resurrected by the power of true love. Wow! They're not just a normal dad and mom now. Holy… Holy Baloney! [Laughter] And then, that night, after that vision, after they showed me that, that night I saw Father come to me spiritually. I saw his face and it was like the transfiguration. His face was totally like the sun, it was so bright I couldn't look into it, but I knew he was there. His eyes were like… just as the Bible describes. That night I wrote a repentance letter. (I never knew who you were True Parents. I never believed.) I was such a coward. I didn't go the next day to see them because I felt so ashamed. That's the kind of fool that they'd die for. I couldn't even go to see them.

But I did go see them eventually. I said, "Father, I never knew." And Father said, "Finally you understand." I realized Father couldn't tell us. He couldn't tell us, because of the true love that he taught us, where one gives and gives and forgets that he has given, even forgets giving his life, erases that from the list. I realize True Father has lived the teaching. He has done the impossible.

From that point, I went from always having some kind of reservation, some kind of intellectual doubt about who True Parents were, to becoming a believer in True Parents. And I was reborn. My sermons have changed. My devotion has changed. My life has completely changed. Now I understand why Christians all cry and go crazy when they become reborn and why when they talk about eternal life they jump with joy.

That's why it's such an amazing blessing. It's such a profound blessing that we can be here doing this for the Messiah. It's incredible. It's not work; it's completely fun doing it. I feel alive doing it. When I read about the Apostles and I hear of their acts, I can feel, I can understand, why they're doing what they're doing. When they testify, it brings me so much joy, even though I feel they're at the mercy of the prisons or in the times when the Christians felt persecuted by the Jews or by other individuals around -- When I read those passages, I can understand why even amongst all that persecution, they felt joy.

Brothers and sister, it is an amazing time to be alive. I hope you feel that. I hope you get that on the inside of you, because you only live once, and you have to stand up for something in your life. You have to. To make it purposeful, you have to stand up for something. How blessed we are that we can stand up for the Lord who has returned! We are so blessed.

I hope this time you had a change of calendar, because it's a new age. [He laughs.] And I pray that when you go back home you don't just go back to your normal routine, but you step out, step out of the normal pattern -- the normal pattern of sitting in meetings and going, hmm… hmm… that's a very important point! Good point! Step out of that and go declare the Lord because he's here. I pray that we can go back and do such things and bring people to be reborn, to be remade in the image of Christ, to discover their eternal purpose, to find eternal life and to inherit the greatest love of all. I pray that you guys go back -- you guys and gals -- go back and spread the word.

Thank you so much brothers and sisters. [Applause.]

Let's pray. I want to pray with you.

Dearest, beloved Heavenly Parents,

Our most beloved True Parents, Father we are so grateful to be here in the presence of Your awesome, unsurpassable, insurmountable true love. We had spoken about true love and taught about it and thought we had been actualizing it, but Father we pray that You can open our eyes, so that we can understand what Your love has been, that True Parents, Your only son and daughter, whom You sent, laid down their lives for us. There is no accomplishment greater in the image of Christ. Father they have paid the price with mind, body and soul, Father, not just once for our individual sins, but with the loving heart of parents, for our families for our tribes, for our nations and the world, and for our world and the spirit world which is included in the cosmos.

Father, we thank You because of Your amazing grace. We want to know and we want to understand and inherit that great True Parents' love -- the love with which they will lay down their lives, will die and die and die again to set the children free, to set even the worst evil, the worst satan free, the love which goes beyond anything which mankind has ever known. Father, we thank You. Father, we pray that we can have our spiritual eyes opened, that we can understand what role we are playing and the profound significance of this life that we have been blessed to live at this time. Father we pray that You can come into our hearts and enlighten our minds. Father, fill our spirits because we have emptied ourselves. Father, let us be the vessels and instruments through which You can declare Your coming kingdom, through which You can declare the greatness of Your love.

Father, we are so thankful, and we believe. We believe, and we have hope, because where there is hope there is always a way. And Father, You have given us the greatest hope. You have given us hope for eternal salvation. You have given us hope for eternal life with You. You have given us that great mercy, of passing over all the different stages of indemnity because of the son that You have sent. We thank You Father. We pray we can understand and inherit the great love of the seven deaths and resurrections. We pray that we can get that resurrection power on the inside of us. We pray that we can become resurrected and be made new, so that we can become new creations in Christ. Father, that we may see the world, that we may feel the spirit, that we may move with Your heart and that we may change the world for Your glory. Let us be Your instruments. Father, we thank You.

We want to pray for each one of the nations that are represented in this room. Father, we pray that our leaders may do their job, that they may lead the members in faith, lead the brothers and sisters in devotion, lead them in the life of love, lead them in believing and finding rebirth. Father, we pray that You can be with each one of the countries and all the brothers and sisters there who are truly waiting for the day to come when the hope that You have given us, Cheon Il Guk, can be in our midst. Father, we pray that we may not only wait but that we may do our five percent and create, create the kingdom, create it so that True Parents' and Your true love can forever shine upon the world. Father we thank You so much and we offer our deepest prayers and thanks on this An Shi Il on the new calendar and in a new era and a new age. We pray these things in our own names, as central, blessed families and in the name of the Lord, our True Parents.

Welcoming Speech during the Dedication Ceremony of Cheon Bok Gung (Growth Stage)

Hyung Jin Moon
February 21, 2010
Cheon Bok Gung, Seoul Korea

Brothers and sisters from around the world,

We are so grateful and honored to be able to participate together here, in this incredible holy land, this holy site here. We attend our True Parents here in Chung Pyung. Our True Parents are not just normal human individuals.

When I studied the world's religions, and really delved into the different religious scriptures, and tried to understand the different figures in the other religious traditions, I really understood and felt at some level, that these individuals were, of course, people, but they were also much more than that.

You can imagine at the Last Supper, where the disciples and apostles surrounded Lord Jesus, shared a meal with him, before they moved towards the crucifixion. And in that time, of the great prophets of the past, we see a common pattern that exists among normal people, who live in that time. The pattern is, to see a prophet, not with your spiritual eyes, but to see them with the physical eyes. We can see this pattern that occurred when Jesus was crucified, even his apostles at the very last, at the eve of his crucifixion, denied him, stepped away in faith, and did not declare their belief in Christ.

Even in the story of the Buddha in India, 2500 years ago, his cousin (Devadatta) saw him with human eyes, not as someone who had reached the highest level of Enlightenment, which is known as Anuttara samyak sambodhi in the Buddhist tradition, and even tried to kill and murder him.

We can see on the eve of the Hegira, in the Muslim tradition, which is the emigration that the Muslims have to make from Mecca, where they were persecuted and oppressed by the Quarish, the dominant tribe, and they had to make their way into Medina -- on the eve of that night, the prophet Mohammed was to leave, there was a plot against his life.

Again the people did not understand the prophet was sent by God. These individuals were sent by God, chosen by God. And this is the same pattern that also exists, when we witness True Parent's life. For they are not normal individuals, but they come to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ, as the Messiah and the Lord of the Second Advent. And they have been thoroughly misunderstood. They have been persecuted and attacked. There have been assassination attempts on their lives. They have been put into concentration camps, beaten and tortured, flailed.

In every single way, they experienced so many tribulations. In our own understanding of True Parents, we understand that True Parents went through six different trials and tribulations. They were imprisoned six times, under communist regime in North Korea; they were imprisoned under the colonial Japanese occupation. They were imprisoned and unjustly crucified and tortured. But also as Unificationists, we see True Parents not only experiencing these six tortures and imprisonments, and then the final seventh , which was a miraculous helicopter crash where they survived -- 16 people survived the helicopter crash.

We don't see this simply with our physical eyes, as somebody who was just very lucky, or has good fortune. We see this as the hand of God. We see this as the course they had to live to fulfill the mission of the Messiah, which is to live the living death, the living sacrifice. For the world's sins from all the levels of the individual to the family, the tribe, the society, the nation, the world, cosmic including spiritual -- accumulation since the Fall of Man. And this is the kind of life that True Parents have lived. They have lived through those 7 experiences, what we refer to as the Seven Deaths -- that they have even experienced physical death. That the disciples actually had to retrieve and salvage his body, (which had been thrown out into the snow) and had to thaw him out in a small hut. And they experienced the miraculous hand of God, as True Father came back to life from his frozen and beaten form.

When we understand the true love that True Father teaches us that he has revealed to the world, that up till now, we have tried to understand up till now through many theologies and many philosophies, what the nature and essence and divinity of God is. And fundamentally, it is beyond human grasp. But True Father has allowed us the picture, and the description of what God's divinity is and what His essence is. He has taught us that the divinity of God is true love. And that true love is a love that is a parental love. That is so profound and heroic. That it is willing to die and die; give up its soul; descend into the deepest and darkest hells, not just once for the sake of friends, but again and again, endlessly for the sake not only of just the children, but even for the worst enemy. And this is the type of true love that they ask us to inherit.

We are standing in the presence of the one, the first in human history who have inherited that kind of parental love. The type of heroic, parental love, the cosmic love that can even overcome death in the graves, which they overcame in the Seven Deaths and Resurrections.

Brothers and sisters let us understand who we stand before today. If we stood before Jesus, if we stood before the Buddha, if we stood before Mohammed, peace be upon him, what kind of attitude would we be in I ask you today? We stand before the Lord of the Second Advent. We stand before the Messiah who has come, who has come and given, laid down his life, not only once, but over seven times, endlessly, so that we could be free from torment.

Brothers and sisters, it is on this occasion, that we can understand the true significance of the True Parents, we can understand what kind of people they are, and what kind of incredible mission they have come to do. Let us not only see them with physical eyes, as our physical parents or our teacher, but let us open our spiritual eyes, and see them, as our Lord and Savior. Let us all rise, and give a resounding round of applause to our beloved True Parents, the True Parents of Heaven and Earth. Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon!

Church policy:

We must declare True Parents as Messiah; there is confusion in the Unification Church, are we a messianic movement or a peace movement? Are we a religious movement or a social movement? If we're peace movement we're very unsuccessful. If we're a peace movement then get me out of here! I work without a salary; I don't want to tithe to a peace movement; peace is good but is that all God is about? Peace movements believe that religions causes war; loose God and we can live in peace. We believe, without God there can be no real peace.

Abraham was a priest; he was a military leader; he led them to war; Moses was commander of an army; 40 years at war; Joshua conquered ½ of Canaan; Jesus: "he is not a military leader; can he be the Messiah?" Mohammed spread religion by the sword.

God wants to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth centering on His lineage; we don't believe peace is possible without God; Christians can't believe in peace on earth with out the return of Christ; do we believe in what we say? Do we believe True Parents are the Lord of the Second Advent? If we answer that question then there is no confusion.

You are leaders; your responsibility is to lead people to God, True Parents are the Messiah, the Lord of Second Advent; this is our identity; no question about it; we will fight for our beliefs and not compromise our faith or our movement. Korea and Japan are succeeding not because of weakness; businesses are profitable because we hold people accountable for public funds and in return we treat them fairly and they are compensated.

Unification Church in Korea is growing faster than ever before; at the 10/14 Blessing everyone gave the offering; we revitalized the Unification Church and blessed all members in the Unification Church. For this Blessing new members were witnessed to and joined in last two months; they all paid; we had funds left over after the October 14th Blessing; this is not just talking about success, this is real.

Temple in Seoul:

Over 100 million has been raised in one year; it is in most valuable real estate market in Seoul (like Manhattan); this will be our new Unification Church headquarters. Our brothers and sisters donated over 12,000 faith donations.

Korea Foundation lost 100 million in one year; for 20 years there was no growth; now results are coming; faith is coming back; spirit is coming back; miracles are happening because we believe in God!

Success is not confusing; see where the hand of God is; in Japan we have staved off the destruction of our church; 36,000 Unification Church members came back in two months; we will succeed; only question is how quick and how big.

All of you must answer that question; to move forward and bring victory we must be clear in who we are; our identity.

From now let us build an organization and church that moves with purpose and creates results for God and True Parents.

In Jin Nim

To quote, "Over the last 5 years we can see the fruits of Kook Jin Nim's efforts in Korea. Together he and Hyung Jin Nim have done a great job, spiritually and financially. He has transformed the Korea Foundation into a brilliant example. I look at my brothers as an inspiration for my work in America. They have spent countless hours in prayer to try to understand who we are and what direction we should take.

We have languished as a movement, unclear about who we are. However, now we are united under the Unification Church church symbol and proud of our identity. For the first time in our movement, I feel there is clear direction. We need to reclaim our symbol so that our children can see it as a symbol of pride. As Christians carry the Cross, Jews carry the Star of David, we should proudly display the Unification Church symbol, given to us by True Parents.

What are we here to do? It's time to get re-inspired, to show and live our convictions each day of our lives. Do it for our children's sake so that they will want to be like us. There is nothing more beautiful to me than to hear our Second Generation say, "I really believe in something," or that, "I'm a proud Unificationist and I love God and our True Parents."

We have started a revolution here under my brothers' leadership! A true revolution which is not only based on internal excellence, but external excellence, where all that you touch is successful and blessed by God.

Kook Jin Nim is putting the church in order and Hyung Jin Nim, as the spiritual head, is providing focus for the world. We must carry their example back to the world, saying, "There is something revolutionary going on!" We should proclaim the Peace Temple and the greatness of True Parents. Proclaim our True Parents! Make each day count in these final three years. We should think, "How much can I do each day?" Be the elder brother and sister and share True Parents with the world.

As we proclaim True Parents we honor ourselves and our children. Be proud and be accountable. Pastor the people well; inspire, encourage and empower them to do great things. Tremendous blessings are awaiting us, brothers and sisters, and you each play a very special role as leaders.

Carry Kook Jin Nim's conviction and Hyung Jin Nim's heart with you wherever you go! Come together in one heart and in one spirit. Know that God is working with you every day. This is an incredible year, the year of the White Tiger! In this year we can make incredible strides forward. The unthinkable and the unexpected can happen in 2010 if we have faith."

Hyung Jin Nim

True Parents were so happy at the birthday banquet; we are declaring True Parents as Messiah, Lord of Second Advent, because it is a joy to do so; it is invigorating to declare them as the Messiah. It is amazing to witnessing with True Parents autobiography; when you witness like this, something happens inside; believe, step out in faith, confront your fears; Unification Church of Korea did no witnessing for 25 years; they lost excitement of when we first joined and found the Messiah; we were so excited to share our faith and the Messiah; that conviction became blurred; we lost our identity, lost our faith in God and True Parents; the church can't grow on this situation; it can't be blessed by God.

With out the genius and mind of Kook Jin Nim, this would not have been possible; in 2005 the Korea Foundation lost 100 Million; in three years Kook Jin Nim reversed it; Yeonsei University MBA program uses Kook Jin Nim as model case; Tongil Group 2005-2008; this group will become major Korean conglomerate.

Kook Jin Nim did a 120 church tour; he visited 120 churches, 40 of the visits were unannounced; he developed the Human Relations system and the KPI system; we now rank ministers and churches based on performance (witnessing, tithing, etc); this is a systematic analysis program; we analyze each church activity using KPI's.

Leadership changes were made in Korea; Kook Jin Nim empowered owner/members to select leaders; owner/member is someone who attends church and tithes for one year. Local leadership is accountable to the congregation; Kook Jin Nim focuses, pushes everyone to succeed; over last years membership at Mapo church fell from 16,000 to 11,000 members, there was no hope for future; no organization; no witnessing team.

You have to instill faith in members as a leader; you have to declare True Parents yourselves as leaders; we won't grow until the leaders lead the way; necessary for church growth; otherwise the spirit of God will not be there.

If we are uncomfortable with Messiah, Lord of Second Advent, savior of humanity, you can feel it in the churches that aren't growing; if evangelical spirit has subsided there is no growth.

As leaders we have to make success for True Parents; if we don't we must step down as an honorable leader;

Ambassadors for Peace, etc., we thought that we can't tell them about the Messiah or they will run away. Hyung Jin Nim's experience is exactly the opposite at the International Leadership Conference we proclaimed True Parents as the savior; "We're so clear now" be up front and honest; they know it from internet anyway;

Kook Jin Nim told VIPS, "We're so happy that Rev. Moon is the Messiah!" They can't forget that; to make an impact he tells anyone straight up what he believes. 40% of Korea Foundation are now Unification Church members; the learn Divine Principle, donate, come to service, and tithe.

The result of all of this is that the church membership has doubled in Korea , church donations are up 110% with a reduced number of church leaders and churches and headquarters staff.

As leaders you are called to bring this to your nation, to make believers in Christ! Your mission is not to be popular, but to make new believers. Peter, Paul, Stephen were all persecuted, stoned for declaring the name of Jesus as Messiah. Proclaim True Parents as the Lord and Savior with faith and conviction. The religions that are very strong in their faith impact the world: Christianity, Islam, etc. Muslims can confidently move forward wherever they go; they value and protect the name of Mohammed. How much do we protect True Parents' value? When we hear people belittling Father, we should become irate, as Muslims would be if the name of Mohammed were belittled. How many years have we tolerated being called a cult, or useless, etc.? Stand up for our faith and for our True Parents. Don't allow attacks on our faith.

The Korean church has grown because of the managerial expertise of Kook Jin Nim. Success is the accumulation of good decisions over time. Kook Jin Nim has 16 years of business experience; he thinks as an organization, not as an individual. Kook Jin Nim is an evangelist, a man of faith and professionalism.

When we declare True Parents then they themselves don't have to do it. We have always pushed Father to declare himself, then we hide in the background. The Dalai Lama doesn't have to tell people who he is because his priests do that very effectively. As filial sons and daughters of our True Parents, it is our responsibility to proclaim them. "You're going to hear that from us!" We're doing our job, educating the people that he is the Messiah.

We have to bring back the spirit of being proud of True Parents and confident in our faith. Get comfortable with sharing True Parents; it will change your life completely; you'll be reborn!

While True Parents are here, let them see millions of Unification Church members around the world declaring True Parents as my lord and savior. When that community grows, that will be Cheon Il Guk. There is no Cheon Il Guk without True Parents. Everything must be centered on True Parents. Our vision is a community of faith, a nation that believes and professes True Parents; not the watered-down version, That's how we think of it.

We are witnessing with passion and excitement because we want Cheon Il Guk to be established while True Parents are here. This is all for the glory of God and True Parents, who are the first to inherit fully the love of God; they are the living offering for us.

So let's get this inside of us and allow others to be reborn in this way!

We were up in the True Parents' banquet, and Parents were so delighted; they were so happy; and as you notice, when we went up there, Kook Jin hyung gave an awesome, wonderful toast. As you notice, we all are strongly declaring True Parents as the Messiah and the Lord of the Second Advent, let's give it up for True Parents -- because it's really a joy to do so. It's so invigorating to declare them as the Messiah -- because that's who they are.

We were out on the street witnessing one day, wearing our yellow vests and yellow hats that say "Tong-Il Kyo" on it, and we were running around in the streets and handing out pamphlets of our True Parents' autobiography, and I bumped into these Christian grandmas. They were waiting at the bus terminal and so I went up to them at the bus terminal, they were sitting there, they were so very cute, these grandmas, they were talking to one another, and we came with the Tong-Il Kyo hats and Tong-Il vests and I said, "Oh, yes! We would love for you to read this book!" They said, "What kind of book is that?" and I said, "Well, it's the book by Reverend Moon! Reverend Moon, his autobiography, he wrote this book, it's the best seller in Korea! It's absolutely incredible; it will change your life."

They said, "No, I'm not going to read that. I won't read that. I'm Christian. I'm not going to read Moon Sun Myung." So I said, "Why?! Reverend Moon's the Messiah! Why are you not going to read it?" She said, "What?! What you say?! Reverend Moon the Messiah? Crazy! Crazy! How can this person be the Messiah?" She's getting all flustered. I said, "Oh, madame, thank you so much, you are giving me so much excitement today! It's so fun to talk to you about my father!" And we started talking. We had a wonderful conversation; eventually they asked me to leave, but that was OK because I was very happy. I was very happy; I said, "Madame, thank you; thank you so much for this wonderful experience, because I got my day's worth of exercise today! I feel fantastic!"

You see, Brothers and Sisters, there is something about declaring your faith; there is something that happens on the inside of you. When you actually believe and you actually step out in faith and confront your fears. You know, our church had not witnessed in over 30 years (the Korean church). As you know, you will hear the statistics in the next couple of days, but the Korean church had not witnessed in about 25-30 years. We had lost the excitement that we had when we joined. You remember when you found the Messiah when you were young people? You found the Messiah and you went home and told your Mom, told your Mom, "Mom, I found the Messiah! He's Korean!" She almost killed you! But you survived! Right? You found the Messiah, you were so excited. We were so excited to find the Messiah; to declare him, to talk about him, to share our faith; but then, over time, that conviction became somewhat blurred. I'm not going to say it went away, but it got blurred, because we had to do many many different things in the growth stage, so to speak. Father gave us many things, many events, many ceremonies, etc., we had to do such things, but in doing so, unfortunately many of us lost our identity; and also many of us, maybe not the leaders, but I'm sure everyone has the moments , but many members had lost faith, in God and even True Parents. And this was the state of our movement, and so in that kind of atmosphere our faith cannot grow, it will not grow because it will not be blessed by God.

So we had an incredible task to undertake here in Korea. Actually I have to say we did many many changes here in Korea but it would not have been possible without the unbelievable genius, the incredible mind of Kook Jin hyung. I've been working with him for about a year and a half. He has an unbelievable mind. Most of you will not know this but in Korea, of course our business group has turned around completely due to his leadership: in 2005 it was at a 100 million dollars loss for the year, that was Tongil -- as In Jin-Ah said, that was the "sore loser" of the businesses in Korea. The groups. It wasn't even listed on any of the public listings for groups. And within three years he turned that around.

Remarkable turnaround; he turned that around to 50 million dollars profit and even in this economic slump the business group is still profitable. So he has created incredible result in the business group.

Most of you will not know this but in Yonsei University, which is one of the premier universities here in Korea, it's like Columbia University in the United States, they have an MBA program, they have a Master's in Business program, and we actually have two Blessed children who are in that, young Unificationists who are in that program, they're in the MBA course. And they're there sitting in class one day listening to the course and their studies on business administration, etc., listening to all the wonderful things that the professor was talking about, and then he pulled out a case study. "We're going to do a case study of a modern business group." Guess what he pulled out of his pocket: Tongil Group! Tongil Group! Our Tongil Group! He pulled Tongil Group out and he talked about Tongil Group as the case study of incredible turnarounds from 2005 to 2008! Oh, that deserves applause, Brothers and Sisters. That definitely deserves applause.

So we have young Korean professionals who are being trained in business school now, we're learning about Kook Jin hyung's work. We're learning about the incredible results that he did make in the marketplace which is highly competitive. Of course all of you know that, in the free market it's so competitive, you have to be the best. And in Yonsei University they are teaching the Tongil Group as a case study, and I'm happy to announce that they also foresee that the Tongil Group will become one of the big Jeabeol in Korea; this is what they're predicting. That means one of the biggest, big conglomerates of Korea. Like Samsung and Hyundai. This is what the professors are saying in Yonsei University. About the Unification Church foundation! This is unimaginable, actually, if you think about it. Can you imagine in the Columbia MBA program, if they're talking about the Unification Church business group as a remarkable case study? This is what they're doing already on the ground in Korea. The success will continue and so I do foresee it quickly moving to Harvard Business School and Columbia Business School and all the wonderful other schools around the world, talking about it. But see this is the incredible change that is happening: for the first time we've made an incredible failure into an enormous success. That started from the business group, because the reality of our business group was so, so unimaginable.

Due to that incredible turnaround and amazing organizational skill, Kook Jin hyung partook on a 120 church tour where he actually toured Korean churches, Unification churches around Korea; we had 450 at the time and he would go unannounced; he would not tell ministers which church he was going to attend, so they did not know he was coming to church, because he wanted to see the actual reality of what the members were actually experiencing in church. So he would go and sometimes he would be in a church and he would look in the back -- somebody sitting in the back with a black cap on, just sitting there listening to the sermon, and he did an analysis, a field study, of 120 churches: did 40 in Seoul and the rest around the country. And he made a strategic plan for church growth. Now this required many hard decisions, very tough decisions: we had to reduce the number of churches from 450 to 250. That's 200 churches. We had to let go of over 100 ministers. That's a lot of ministers to let go of; a lot of ministers who feel that they contributed greatly to the church. Had to let go of over 100.

We had to implement new systems into the church; we had to create a decision line chain, management, which is the system they use in the free market in major organizations. We had to implement that into every organization, Mission department, we had to put that into Headquarters Church; Chedan already had it; we had to bring in their HR system that he had created. So we had to do so many things, the KPI system, the Key Performance Indicator system that we had to do, where we actually had to rank ministers and churches based on performance. And the performance is all faith-based and driven towards church growth, so they were focusing on witnessing and tithing and donations, and Blessing attendance, etc., such things, where there were different percentages, etc. And we had to actually create this systematic analysis program that's unbelievably complex. We're so grateful for our Dr. Seuk and Kim Jong Won Shil Chung, who is our Shil Chung at Headquarters. They help work with the professionals to create that program. Just literal analysis of every single church, we can now analyze every church to exactly what number they are doing in terms of any one of the major factors: witnessing, donation, education, etc. We actually can have that data base complete.

A lot of those changes have already occurred. There have also been changes made with the leadership and with empowering membership; i.e. 'owner members' with the right to choose their own leader. It was decided that the condition to be considered an 'owner member' is for a member to have been tithing for at least one year without having skipped even once. To have members elect their leader was a big thing, too, because in the past our leaders were selected either by our True Parents or by other leaders that were above them. However, we developed this new system of giving 'owner members' the right to also vote for their regional directors. The regional director you met in Kang-Nam has been selected by members for the first time in the Unification Church history. Also, the leadership has to be accountable to the congregations. It's directly tied to their professional work and is a key performance indicator. As Kook Jin Nim said, this is not done in a way that a leader manages and let's everyone do as they want. It's the opposite. He has to focus everybody and push them in a strong direction to move and glorify God and True Parents. The purpose is to create result, that is, to successfully witness and to create financial success for the local churches, etc. And we've done that.

For the last 30 years the Unification Church in Korea didn't grow. It declined from 16.000 members to 11.000 members in 2005. Minus growth. When I arrived at Mapo there was actually no hope. There was only a small church with 70 family members. Members didn't feel any hope for the future. And there was also no organization. There was no witnessing team; nothing had been organized. When we arrived at the headquarters church we found the same situation. The church was not run at all. So we actually had to request Kook Jin with the human research department to help us in organizing. The organization you now see at Cheon Bok Gung is the organization that we created.

I explain these things because I want to share with you that many of these things seem as if they can be done if you understand them. And sure, to some degree that's true. But remember, we are a religious organization. And no matter how much you implement these systems, even though you all may seem to understand them -- as leaders you have to instill faith into the membership. You have to have a powerful faith in yourself. You have to be in the frontline running with members: witnessing and declaring True Parents as the Lord and Savior. We've come to a point where the leaders feel embarrassed to declare True Parents as the Lord of the Second Advent. That is the reason why we cannot grow as a church; why we will not grow without finding our faith and our belief that the True Parents are the Lord of the Second Advent; that this is what we believe and that we are happy to believe in this. And what we believe is absolutely necessary for our church to grow. If you don't have that faith, I can guarantee you your church will not grow because the spirit of God will not be there.

I'm so grateful for In Jin ah, because in America we had the same situation. As the American church members may know, for the last 30 years our American church has not grown at all. We have moved from declaring our faith to -- as she said: 'The warm and fuzzy; Yes, we have that peace kind of thing.' And to some level we have become embarrassed about declaring our faith and hiding it. Instead we have been declaring: 'Oh, the True Parents, they are great peace activists.' 'They are a great man and woman of God.' 'Oh, they are great educators, global educators.' Yes, we are comfortable with those explanations, but we have become uncomfortable with, 'They are the Messiah, the Lord of the Second Advent and the Savior of humanity.' That's the difference which can be felt in the churches and communities that grow. They all declare that True Parents are the Lord of the Second Advent… If your churches have not grown during the last 20 or 30 years, even if I don't visit, I can almost perceive from the atmosphere that most likely you don't declare True Parents as the Lord. The evangelical spirit has subsided. The decision to proudly share your faith has weakened. You see, these are the things that are absolutely critical if you want to make success, and as leaders we not only have to want to make but we actually have to make success for our True Parents. This is the reason why we are leaders. If we don't make success for True Parents we should be the first ones to step down when we feel I'm not fit for this role. This is what a honorable leader must do. This is the difference.

I believe all of you can sense the difference in the spiritual atmosphere when we hold the events now. Can you feel it? What do you think it is? -- Well, we met with Muslims and Christians. We were told that 'If you tell them Rev. Moon is the Lord of the Second Advent -- it's too early, it's too fast. They all will be running away, they are not going to work with us.' I found exactly the opposite to be true. I spoke to them and said: 'True Parents are the Messiah; they are the Lord of the Second Advent.' I explained to them the seven deaths and resurrection and that they have inherited a greater type of love than we can see in the history of men. I told them that the love that Jesus could give to the world, the greatest love which he defined in John 15:13 changed the world history for the last 2000 years. True Parents have inherited the parental love, which is even greater. And I went down to the crowd and many of the Muslims and Christians said, 'Oh, thank you, we feel so clarified.' Because, brothers and sisters, they all know that Unificationists believe that Rev. Moon is the Messiah. You know why? Even though you don't tell them, they can look it up in the internet. All they have to do is open up Wikipedia and type in 'Rev. Moon' and they will find that Unificationists believe Rev. Moon is the Messiah. So it's better to tell them straight away because they'll find out anyway. Better to be honest and open about it because when you are hiding it and they bring it up they will say, 'Why didn't you tell me?' This is very strange.

Kook Jin met the Secretary of State in the Blue House the other day. The KCIA director of the military intelligence will be coming for the opening of the Cheon Bok Gung Temple because of him. The World Expo Yeosu leader will be coming. The Dong-a Ilbo Editorial Chief will be coming. All these incredible people are going to come to the Unification Church for our opening. I love to go into the room with him. It's the most exhilarating and funny thing I have ever experienced in my life. Everybody around is trying to say: 'Oh, that's a VIP. Let's speak nicely to him.' -- But Kook Jin tells the guests: 'Thank you so much for all your hard work and support for True Parents. We are so happy that the Lord of the Second Advent has come to Korea. We are so happy that Rev. Moon is the Messiah.' And some of the VIPs say: 'Oh, yes, yes.' Some of them don't know what to say. That is most delightful, because they think about it and they can't forget it. You see, when you want to witness to somebody you need to make an impact on them.

You shouldn't be the same old person they met a million times before. You should make an impact on people and this you can do by telling them straight on what you believe. This is what Kook Jin does. He will tell anybody straight up what he believes. And this is why he has successfully witnessed to so many people. When he came to the Chedan group he had to bring in all new professionals so that the Chedan group was composed of 95% non-Unificationists at the time they started. Three years later 40% of the Group was already Unificationists. They are all newly proclaimed Unificationists. Do they just say 'I'm an Unificationist, I will just hang around with Kook Jin Nim?' No, that's not at all what they do. They also donated a lot to the Temple, the world providence guided by True Parents. Did you know that Korea alone raised 25 million Dollars for the Temple? That was never done in the history of the Korean Church. The most that was ever raised within a year were three million Dollars as a 'Faith donation'. But now the Korean Church offered within one year 25 million Dollars to True Parents for the Temple.

Japan of course, made 70, so we don't want to boast too much, but we were very proud of the Korean members. All stepped up in faith, "We are going to do this. We will do this." And guess what? Out of the 25 million dollars that was raised for the Temple, over 7 million were donated by the new professionals working in the Chedan. They are donating to the Unification Church. It is not a small amount. They are donating $21,000 to the Temple, per person. Now if you have to donate $21,000 you are not going to just talk that you are an Unificationist, you have to actually wrestle with the idea, "My God, I am going to actually invest in the Unification Church. I am actually going to make this commitment." These are the tangible things that he has shaped the organization to do.

And what has been the result of that? The result of that is that church membership has now doubled in Korea. Now church donations are up 110% across the country even though we have reduced the number of churches. So, more is less, less is more. Members can actually congregate, not with just 10 brothers and sisters but in a larger faith community where they can sing together and feel a spirit together and bring guests together. They feel like they want to witness again.

And brothers and sisters, as leaders in your respective countries you are called to bring on this apostolic mission to your countries, and not just called to make friends. You are called to make believers in Christ as Paul did. That is your mission. If you are a missionary, if you are a leader, a national leader or whatever, your mission is to bring believers into Christ. That is what apostles do. That is what the Apostle Paul did, that is what Peter did.

Look in the Acts of the Apostles. They go around persecuted, condemned, Stephen was stoned. They come forth with a strong faith to declare the name of Jesus in a place where it has never been declared, to declare with faith and conviction that the Lord has come, and that it is through Jesus that you will find salvation. You see they come with faith and conviction.

And remember it is the religions that are strong in their conviction that impact the world. You know, Muslims are very strong in their faith. You know that it is a very hot topic about Muslims in the West or in other countries because they are very strong about their faith. You insult their faith, you insult the prophet Mohammed, and they will not stay still. Right? Isn't that the case? They are very strong in their religion, in what they believe. And it is for that reason that they are able to confidently move forward wherever they go. By 2050 the Muslim tradition will be the largest religion the world according to statistics. It will be the largest. But think about it that is how much they protect the value of the prophet Mohammed.

How much do we protect the value of True Parents? When somebody says to us, "True Parents are not Messiah, I don't believe that. They are Korean people, Korean people, Korean man running around, not the Messiah. I don't believe they are God's people". When we hear those words… If you said that to a Muslim, "I don't believe the Prophet Mohammed is God's messenger, I think your religion is quite useless; it's a cult", if you said that he would be absolutely irate. Isn't that correct?

But for how many years do we have to tolerate being called, "Heretical, cult, useless, no future, has no value, crazy"? We must not tolerate being abused in such a manner. We must be confident in our faith, stand up for our faith, stand up for True Parents when people attack them. Stand up for them! Do not allow people to attack True Parents! This is the kind of heart that we have to have, the heart of faith.

The reason why I believe the Korean church has grown so much is because of the incredible managerial expertise that Kook Jin hyung has brought. You just can't ignore it. I work with him for a year and a half. It is just unbelievable! We have decisions that are so hard to make -- because an organization's success is the accumulation of good decisions over time -- and when we have really tough decisions to make we have teams that wrestle with this for days at a time and then at some point we are so flustered we can't answer how exactly to decide this. So many times we have brought it to Kook Jin hyung and said, "What do you think about this?" and within five seconds he has answered the question. And we sit there just simply flabbergasted, "How does he think this quickly, how is his mind that organized?"

It is because of an incredible experience. For 16 years he has been CEO of his own company. He has six US patents. He has created a company from scratch to become a 30 million dollar company per year, with sales of 30 million and a market value way greater than that. He has 16 years of that kind of experience which he brings to the table. When we work with him it is just unbelievable because his mind is so organizational. He thinks as an organization, he does not think as an individual, about his reputation or whatever. He thinks, "What is the best decision for this organization?" And that is the reason why we have had tremendous success.

What people don't understand about Kook Jin hyung -- and many times they just think that he is a businessman -- He is an evangelist. I think you all understand this today, but he is an evangelist. Guess what? Some of the most successful evangelists were merchants. Yes their former profession was merchant; they were merchants. They were selling and buying goods.

He is an incredible man of faith. He brings professionalism to the table but he also brings unquestionable faith to the table and that is why we have been so inspired to work with him. I think the Korean church is just one example because it is essential that the Korean church is strong and successful because this is the Fatherland and True Parents are residing here and we will continue to work in every capacity to bring glory to True Parents. But that fundamentally starts from our admission and our declaration of them as the Messiah and the Lord of the Second Advent.

When was it in the Unification Church that you heard people in big conferences say, "I believe True Parents are the Messiah and the Second Coming"? How many years has it been? Probably 20 or 30 years right? This has been an issue, a problem because I tell you when we declare True Parents; True Parents don't have to do it themselves.

I explained this to the Taiwanese leaders when we were in Taiwan. I have lived with a Tibetan monk for one year. I have known so many Tibetan Buddhists. I met the Dalai Lama. He doesn't tell me that he is the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvar which he is in that tradition. He is basically a deity. If you know anything about Tibetan Buddhism, he is a deity. A bodhisattva is somebody who has completely become a Buddhist, a completely perfect and stainless being, with universal compassion, who has mastered the four Bramaviharas, etc. He is a deity! But he does not go around saying he is the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvar. Why? Because every Tibetan you meet will tell you he is the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvar. Do you understand? All the Tibetan Buddhists do it for him. So he doesn't have to be in the spot to do it himself and be jeered at and mocked. They stand up for him in their belief.

This has been the problem of our church. We pushed Father forward, "Declare that you are the Messiah!" We hide in the back. This is what we don't want to do, because it is a tremendous burden to True Father, to True Parents, and because if we are filial sons and daughters that is our job, that is what we are supposed to be doing.

And I tell you when we do that…. As you can sense we are doing that all the time. When we go to conferences, UPF conferences, ILC conferences, we don't care what it is, if you are going to listen to anyone of us talk, you are going to hear that Rev Moon is the Lord of the Second Advent and the Messiah and the Savior. I BELIEVE! You see you are going to hear that. You are going to hear that.

So the atmosphere is different. Father feels that atmosphere. Did you notice in the last couple of days that Father is not speaking for 13, 14 hours? Did you notice that? Why is He not speaking for 13 and 14 hours? Because we are doing our job. We are telling people and educating them He is the Lord of the Second Advent. He is the Messiah. He does not have to tell you that. We will tell you. Do you see what I mean?

So when he comes, he understands because Father can sense spiritually whether or not the crowd is full of believers or doubters. He feels the spirit and then he is confident and then he is able to give the words that he wishes to give but not stressing him, his body and mind, to pour out his heart to convince the one doubter that he is the Messiah.

We have to bring back that spirit of being confident about True Parents; being confident about our faith because it is only upon that spirit, when we believe that True Parents are the Lord of the Second Advent. They come to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ. That it is through their teachings that all the paths are united, where they are brought to the new level of understanding of love, when we understand True Parents have that value.

We were meeting with one Muslim delegate. He said, "You guys have no boundaries." In a good way, he meant it in a good way. He said, "You have no boundaries. You have unlimited potential to grow." This was a Muslim congressman that we were talking to just the other day. "Unification Church has no boundaries to grow because you bring all to the parental love!"

Oh, that deserves applause for the Unification Church. Come on! (Applause)

So for me this was very key. For me doing ministry… I'm going to wrap it up quick. I know I'm going way too long. But for me doing ministry, one of the biggest dilemmas for myself personally because I studied the world religions was, is it true? Do we actually bring a greater type of love? We say we are going to unite all religions, we say we are going to bring them all together. We have a new level of love that would revolutionize the world. Is that true?

Well, I studied the religions; studied the love of Christ, how Christians believe in the Agape love of Christ. We understand that Jesus defines the greatest love in John 15:13, a love that lays down his life for his friends. Lays down his life, sacrifices his life. You can study Buddhism and understand the Bramaviharas one of which is Karuna or compassion, the greatest type of compassion, Mahakaruna, the universal type of compassion that the Buddha will have. You can understand the obedience and the great love that is expressed through that kind of surrendering to God in the Muslim faith. So with all this different incredible expressions of love, if you read, you will be inspired.

Is our truth really greater? Is the true love that we talk about greater? If it isn't, then there is no way really that we are going to bring them to the new level because we are just about the same or less. And so when I listen to anybody talking about true love, it was live for the sake of the other, it was a selfless type of love; it was a love that could defeat any obstacle. But I could not feel what that was. I could not feel what that meant. Does it just mean that I could do a little service work I am practicing true love? Does it mean that I could be kind, just nice? When I bring my wife a glass of water or things like that, then that's the actualization of true love? Is that the level that we are talking about? Of course that is important but, is that the level that we are talking about, ultimate level?

Or is it a love that is like Christ that will lay his life for his friends, or like the Buddha, like the compassion that seeks to save all sanctioned beings or the surrendering of the heart to God? Those are incredible. Those have changed millions of lives. And nobody could answer this question for me in the Unification Church. How is true love greater than the love that Christ showed on the cross?

I talked to theologians, professors, ministers; no leader could explain it. Why is our true love greater? How is it that we are going to bring the religions to the newest level, the new understanding of God's heart? We cannot understand even what true love is. I still cannot get the concept of true love, was my feeling. I know it is the center of the three blessings that I have to unite my mind and body centering on true love that I have to unite the husband and wife and unite in true love. I know that nature and man is united in true love; the great blessings that we see in the Principle.

So what is true love then? And this was a huge dilemma for me doing ministry because if I do not know what true love is, if I cannot explain why it is greater, then I cannot be inspired to preach to you why True Parents have saved my soul. So this was a big problem for me, as you can imagine, because at that time Father had asked us already to take on larger responsibilities and it was a very big burden. Spiritually, I could not answer this question.

At some point I just gave up. I am not going to answer the question because it will not come from me. To make a long story short, essentially, I think now all of you have heard about the seven deaths and resurrections that, when we understand, that even Christians when they want to understand the love of Christ if you want to be saved and redeemed by Christ, you have to open your spiritual eyes. You cannot see Christ with your physical eyes. If you see Him with your physical eyes, you will see a Middle Eastern Jew that died at the age of 33. That is all you are going to see, not even 12 followers. That is all you are going to see. But if you open your spiritual eyes, you will see the man who died for your sins, who was the perfect offering, who died so that you would be free and could enter the Kingdom of God. That is what Christians believe. In order to believe that, you must open your spiritual eyes. You must see Christ with your eyes of faith.

I realized this was the problem. We had seen True Parents with our eyes of the flesh. "They are great peace activists, great educators. They are great mobilizers and peace…" whatever. That is not what they are. They are not peace activists. They are not patriots of a nation only. They are not great educators. They are the Lord of the Second Advent. That is quite a difference.

So when I saw True Parents, viewed Him spiritually, His life course, when He opened our eyes to that, we saw the six tribulations that marked His life course. The six imprisonments, plus the seventh, what True Father himself called the substantial resurrection which was the helicopter attack -- those seven incidents that occurred in his life.

I had a dream about that, actually. Because in the dream, True Parents were there and they were being tortured and beaten and ripped and all that in the prison, but also at the same time their spirits were going into hell.

Just like Jesus in the three days between His crucifixion and resurrection, descended into hell to save the souls that were waiting to be saved. True Parents not only did that once for the salvation of all humanity. They paid the seven stages of indemnity so that we can enter the eight level of perfection. They paid the individual, family, tribe, society, nation and world and cosmic sin that had accumulated. They had to give up their lives, sell their souls. They had to descend into death not just once like Christ, but they had to do it over and over and over for you and me and our children.

When True Parents showed me that, once I realized that, I confess to you, I completely broke down because I cannot see True Parents now with my physical eyes only. Of course I could see them with my physical eyes, not only though because through their life, they have given their souls for me in order to save me, my children. They cleansed me of any individual sin or family sin, or tribe or societal or national; that they actually had to die for me, not just once, not twice, not three times but over and over again so that I could go to the eighth stage, what we call the Direct Dominion of God. God's stage, so that I could enter the world of Cheon Il Guk, the world that God had waited for.

Then I realized, the love that they are talking about is not just service work, it's not just kind-heartedness. It may be some of those things, but it's much more powerful. It's a love that is so heroic and so profound! It is a love that will lay its life down for the children, not once like Christ, but forever, over and over will suffer on behalf of the children, over and over will descend into misery and despair and hell so that we can be free.

Then I realized, "My God! The level of true love that they have been talking about and living is none like I have ever seen or felt in religion. It is greater than the love of Christ who died for our sins and was resurrected by the power of love." They have actualized the seven deaths and resurrections to perfect the eight stages vertically and horizontally from the servant of servant to the servant to the adopted son, step son, true son, mother, father and God's level.

When I understood this I realized, "Oh! No wonder they call true love the parent's heart. Oh! No wonder True Parents are called the True Parents. Oh! No wonder true love is, as Father explains, 'Give, give and forget'." Father says, "Giving and giving and forgetting" but really what Father has lived is "Dying and dying and forgetting". That is the love we are talking about.

And when we inherit that kind of true love -- which is the ideal of creation -- when we inherit that kind of parental heart then we become saints, greater than saints.

With that kind of inheritance of parental heart, now I understand why all the great saints of religions, the religious founders are bowing to True Parents in spirit. And now I understand what price they had to pay to save a fool like me and my kids and my descendants.

And that is why we declare True Parents as our Lord and Savior, not just as our teacher. We declare them as our Lord and Savior who give us eternal life, who give us salvation from suffering, who give us the gift of the parental heart which we don't deserve. And that is why in the Korean church we have been declaring True Parents very passionately.

Brothers and sisters, it is time! As you feel, it is now time for our faith to come back. The Unification Church will not die. I know many people have prophesied that we would die. And many years ago, it looked like we were going to go away. But guess what? We have the power of the seven deaths and resurrections! We have the resurrection power of True Parents!

You may try to get rid of us, you may try to kill us, just like they did to True Parents, but we will be resurrected from the grave every single time, and we will come back stronger, we will come back with more love and we will come back with more faith.

Brothers and sisters, it is now time to once again declare True Parents as your Lord and Savior because that is who they are. Get comfortable with that; get it on the inside of you! Get really comfortable with that, because I know some of you may be still uncomfortable with that. That's the part. Once you are comfortable with that, you start sharing that, I guarantee you; it will change your life. It will change your life completely and you will understand why people talk about being reborn.

Brothers and sisters, all of us really desire and hope for True Parents, while they are here, to see that day that they call Cheon Il Guk, when millions and millions of Unificationists, proud in their faith, all around the world, declare, "Father and Mother Moon are the Lord and Savior. They are my Messiah and nobody can take that faith away from me." When that faith and that community grows, that is the growth of Cheon Il Guk.

There is no Cheon Il Guk without True Parents, think about it. Be honest! There is no Cheon Il Guk without True Parents. Is the Cheon Il Guk that we are seeking just to gather everybody and have a great party and then go home? That is not what we are talking about! Cheon Il Guk is centered on True Parents. It is centered on the manifestation, the inheritor of God's love and essence, True Parents. It is a nation of people that believe and profess and move with spirit, move with purpose with True Parents.

Isn't that what we actually think about when we think about Cheon Il Guk, if you really reflect on it, not the watered down version, the warm fuzzy version that In Jin noona mentioned in her talk? When you really think about it, that's how Father thinks of Cheon Il Guk.

It is our desire, and the reason we are witnessing very passionately and excitedly and why members are joining the Korean church again, is because we want Cheon Il Guk to be established for True Parents while they are here. We want them to see more Unificationists come forth, more faithful believers come forth, declaring, putting their actions where their talk is, stepping up in faith, leading the way, opening up the new future Unificationism which is full of confidence, pride in who we are, strong sense of identity, purpose, and the glory of True Parents and God.

I hope that all of you as leaders, can understand and imbibe this because in the next couple of days, you have the great opportunity to see many reports and hear many things, but let us always remember this is all for the glory of God and for the glory of True Parents, who are the first in human history to have fully inherited, in their life, become the living sacrifice, the living death, the living offering for the sake of the salvation of all our souls.

I hope we can get that on the inside of us, and we can allow other people to be reborn into that amazing life that waits for them.

Let's bow our heads in prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You so much for this day. Father we know that up till now we have hidden our faith. We've not been proud Unificationists. We've been embarrassed about who we are. We tried to modify our conviction, so that we would be more accepted, more popular. But Father, You have taught us through the lessons of time that that is not the way to actualize Cheon Il Guk. Once we can come back to our faith, once we can remember who we are, once we can recall that we are people of destiny, that we are people of purpose, that we have historical significance as the ones who declare True Parents, then we can understand the amazing providential mission that we are undertaking.

Father, we pray that each and every one of the leaders here today will understand and renew that faith, will see True Parents, not only with their physical eyes, but will understand with their spiritual senses, will understand the type of love that will die and die, and has died for each and every one of us so that we can enter the Kingdom of God; the type of love that would sell their own souls so that our souls could be free, Father, not just once but over and over to pay off all the sins of the seven stages to allow us passage into the eighth, Your kingdom.

Father, we pray that we can understand this type of love that has saved us. We pray that we can declare this type of love and the True Parents who have manifested and actualized it in their life, as the living death and the living sacrifice, the True Parents that have had to pass through death and death again, and descending into hell only to be resurrected by the power of the love that they manifest.

Father, we pray that we can understand and feel the power of this love, imbibe this and understand this in our mind and our hearts that this is the type of true love that we must inherit, the great cosmic parental heart, the parental heart which will not only lay down its life for friends, but will endlessly lay down its life for the sake of its children and even for the sake of its enemies.

But we know that when our Unification members come together, stand strong, stand in conviction and stand with faith, and stand, Father, in hope and in belief, there is no force that will overpower us.

We pray that God's blessing may be upon these brothers and sisters here. We pray that Your merciful hand will be in each and every one of their endeavors and we pray that they may offer, may actualize the living embodiment of true love that True Parents have shown us through their life.

We thank You so much Father. Bless them, be with them for the next couple of days, and Father, as they return back to truly inspire and revive this movement for Your glory. We pray all these things in the name of our own brothers and sisters around the world, blessed central families, and the great name of our True Parents. Aju!

John 15:13 (New International Version)

13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Building a World of Universal Peace

Hyung Jin Moon
February 18, 2010
International Chairman, Universal Peace Federation

Your Excellencies, distinguished leaders from around the world, Ambassadors for Peace, ladies and gentlemen:

On behalf of the Founders of the Universal Peace Federation, True Parents, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, it is my honor to welcome you to Korea for this International Leadership Conference.

As you know, we have just celebrated the Lunar New Year on February 14. So, I would also like to wish you all a "Happy New Year!"

True Parents celebrated the Lunar New Year in a very unique and special way, as a day for all humanity to give honor and glory to God our Heavenly Parents. In this way, the Lunar New Year is celebrated as True God's Day. So, I would like to also wish you a Happy True God's Day. Thank you for being here for this important occasion.

Yesterday, we could attend the World Peace Blessing ceremony at the Kintex Hall. The Blessing tradition was initiated by True Parents in 1960, with their own Blessing. It has since expanded worldwide. Millions and millions of couples have received the Blessing over the past 50 years.

God's original ideal was to have humanity inherit his true love -- a love that can bring even the worst evil, even Satan to natural surrender. True love is God's essence and his divinity and the gift that God wanted to give to his children. This was his will for Adam and Eve. However, we know that within the very first family, Adam and Eve inherited not true love but false love, which was loving oneself more than God. This Fall gave rise to the egocentric history of division and conflict within the human family.

The purpose of the Blessing is to restore the human fall and to establish God's lineage among all the people of the world. Through the World Peace Blessing we can bring the whole human family together and connect them to God and True Parents. True Parents are the first human beings to fully inherit the essence of God -- his true love. To be clear, we Unificationists do not believe that True Parents are the Creator God Himself, but that True Parents have inherited God's true love and have the value and sacredness of that true love. True Parents teach us that we also are to inherit that true love and create the ideal kingdom that God intended from the time of Adam and Eve.

On November 18, 2009 I was installed as the International Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation. I will do my very best to serve True Parents in this capacity. I am grateful for the great service to UPF carried out by the former UPF Co-Chairs, Rev. Chung Hwan Kwak and my brother, Dr. Hyun Jin Moon. I will do my best to build and expand the foundation they have worked so diligently to establish.

I look forward to working together with all of you, including the distinguished members of the Presiding Council, the Global Peace Council, the Regional Chairs, and Ambassadors for Peace in 194 nations around the world. I hope I can rely on your wisdom, experience and guidance as we move forward to transform this world.

Most of all, I want to say that I will do my best to live up to True Parents' expectations. I have recently had many very deep, spiritual experiences about True Parents. As you may know, True Father was unjustly imprisoned six times over the course of his life. Recently he miraculously survived a helicopter accident in a way that showed the world how much God has protected and loves True Parents.

There are many accounts among the early disciples who witnessed True Father's lifeless body being thrown out as dead human garbage in the heaps of death that surrounded the concentration camps that he served in. They scavenged his lifeless, frozen form and thawed him out in a hut. They saw the hand of God as they witnessed him miraculously come back from death.

I had heard these accounts growing up but never knew their true significance. But just last year, I had a transformative spiritual experience. I can say that my spiritual eyes were opened to the true value and significance of True Parents. At the time, True Parents had already asked me to take the responsibility of the international President of the worldwide Unification Movement, but I realize that even so, I had seen them utterly superficially.

I cannot find words to adequately describe my awakening experience. Suffice to say that I came to see that each time my Father was imprisoned, beaten, tortured, mocked, electrocuted, and literally "killed" and thrown out as dead, he did not cry out to heaven for relief. Rather he descended to the very bottom of hell in order to liberate those who were trapped by satanic power.

I realized what kind of love a True Parent had. It was even more than a love that would lay one's life down for friends, as Jesus said in John 15:13. It was a parental love so heroic and so powerful that it would lay down its life, descend into the most punishing hells again and again, die and die and die again so that the children could be free and see a better tomorrow.

I realized that True Parents were not only beaten and torn and tortured but that they died seven times and descended into hell again and again so that you and I could be freed from all the sins of the world since the Fall. And by the power of that true parental love, they rose from those wretched graves, from the seven deaths and were resurrected seven times by the power of true love!

I began to weep when my eyes were opened to this reality. I could never see True Parents with only my human eyes again. From that point on, when I see True Parents, I see those who embody the true love ideal of the messiah, the returning lord, and the True Parents of heaven and earth. True Parents have this kind of value and significance.

Up till that point I had thought true love was merely "living for the sake of others," doing service work and being kindhearted, and surely it may be these things, but it is also so much more. I realized that true love, the essence of God, the parental heart was a love so unimaginably profound that it would lay down its sacred life, give away its holy soul, descend into the darkest and deepest hells again and again so that you and me and our children could enter the kingdom of God. This is the level of true love that our True Parents have inherited and actualized in their lifetime. This is the heroic true love that they ask each and every one of us to inherit, for if we do so then we will create the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

I pray that by inheriting this type of true love you all will be instrumental in the establishment of an inter-religious council at the UN and the establishment of the ideal homeland that God has yearned for since the beginning of creating humanity. Let us aid True Parents in such a glorious task.

I hope that your time here in Korea will be filled with blessing and awakenings. I pray that you experience the heart of God's love and come to know more deeply his will for your life.

Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to go to the Cheon Jeong Gung "Peace Palace" to meet True Parents and celebrate their birthday. True Father is now 90 years old. And yet, each day True Parents rise early in the morning and begin the day in prayer. True Parents meet with the members of the Church each day at 5:00 am, sometimes for many hours before taking their breakfast.

I hope that tomorrow you will come to see True Parents, not only with your physical eyes open, but with your spiritual eyes open wide as well.

Once again, welcome to Korea. I hope to have a chance to meet each one of you over the next several days. Let us work together to transform this world through inheriting the great parental heart -- the true love of God!

Prayer On Entering The Cheon Bok Gung

Hyung Jin Moon
February 7, 2010

Immediately after his final service on Sunday, February 7, Hyung-jin nim walked with the congregation from the Headquarters Church to the growth-stage temple. Led by various assistant pastors, the congregants at each of the earlier Sunday services, and those at the English service the day before, had made a similar "exodus." This is Hyung-jin nim's prayer on their arrival:

Loving Heavenly Father and the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind! Father, behold us! Heavenly Father, we have arrived at the New Jerusalem; we are inside Your holy temple! Heavenly Father, for decades there has been oppression and persecution; such has been our history, but the devotion and all the efforts that have been made will surely not be in vain.

Heavenly Father, as Unification Church members, we need to shout out the name True Parents while they are still on earth. We will bring victory here and in the temple for twenty- one thousand. We will see Cheon 11 Guk blossom throughout the world.

Heavenly Father, I offer You my deepest gratitude. I am truly grateful to You for calling us at this historic moment. Father, we will discard all thoughts of being unable to do what we need to do, and instead think that we can do it. Whenever we look at the temple, we will think that our members can do it and that the Unification Church can do it; that is, we will uplift the name True Parents and make history.

Heavenly Father, I am truly grateful. Please bless all the brothers and sisters with Your grace. I firmly believe that Your love, Your devotion and Your faith will spread out to all the world from this Cheon Bok Gung, a place of sincere devotion. I am so thankful from the bottom of my heart. I offer all glory and victory to True Parents. I hope and pray that You will bless us and allow us to be able to become the Unification Church that returns infinite glory to True Parents while we attend them in person here on February 21.

Thank You, Father. I pray and give this blessing in the name of all central blessed families and in the great name True Parents. Aju! Thank You.
