True Father has just called me. Hyun Jin Nim just arrived from America yesterday evening. Father told me Hyun Jin Nim will be coming up to lead Hoon Dok Hae and so through him we should hear an important message and declaration related to this providential moment. So let us welcome Hyun Jin Nim and listen to his words. Please welcome him with a round of applause.
Words from Hyun Jin Nim
Good morning. I know you've been worried about True Parents a lot, but I want to tell you not to worry so much. God had protected True Parents and therefore they are doing well. This morning True Father wanted to come to Hoon Dok Hae. Because today, the 21st is a very important day, he wanted to gather all the Boon Bong Wangs and have a special meeting with them, but since he needs rest more than anything else at the moment, I came up instead of him.
Especially in this era, when Heaven is moving with us, if we, Blessed Central Families, can align to God's Will, it is a time where amazing things can happen. I'm sorry my Korean is not so good. You are all Blessed Central Families, right? What does Blessed Central Family mean? This morning we read Father's words about the 'Family Pledge'. I thought it was the perfect subject for today. Blessed Central Families are extended members of True Family. When you look at the entire providential history, God had a dream. He had a dream centered on Adam and Eve. That dream was to build a true family.
A family would have been established centering on Absolute Faith, Love and Obedience and through that family true love, true life, and true lineage could have been established. Centered on three generations representing the past, present and future, this family could have represented the entire humanity. However, Adam and Even did not understand God's will and fell. From that time the providence of restoration began. What was the restorational era seeking to establish? It was a True Family. Because Jesus could not establish a True Family before he died, God had to send True Father on earth to build that family. And as Blessed Central Family, you are all the extended members of the True Family. But just because we are in the position of Abel, we cannot move forward only centered on ourselves. This is the time when we must eliminate all relationships to Satan and we must bless all mankind. This is the age in which every human being must move forward centered upon God. That is why we have a big responsibility.
True Father explained to me especially how important the blessing providence is. There is only one way True Family can be united. There aren't two, three, four ways. Only one way. We cannot decide the path; God has already determined everything. Centering on True Parents this course has been established. If we want to realize this dream and providence, we need to be owners. We, Blessed Central Families, need to become those owners.
Before I came to Korea this time, I had a huge event in Paraguay. This nation tried to kick us out of their nation and tried to take away the foundation that True Parents built. But through this event, centering on the vision of 'One Family under God', everything changed 100%. True Parents took the central role and have suffered a lot to pave this road. Then, especially in this age, who should become their hands and feet? We, True Family and Blessed Central Families, should become their hands and feet. If we only think about ourselves, and if we are divided amongst ourselves, how can we substantialize this dream? The Unification church was not established for our own sake. We should become the owners who work hard centering on God's providence. God's blessing cannot come if we forget God and True Parents, and only think about ourselves.
Especially in this era, for Parents to have to undergo another indemnity condition like this, instead of us, for me, as a son, I feel so sorry to them. As an elder brother, I am so sorry. Father gave us guidance this morning, and I could strongly sense that Father was very worried about us because we are not united. Until now, Father has suffered a lot while leading this providence and he has built all these foundations. But I felt it is not God's Providence that is worrying Father, he is worried about us. Father said especially today myself, Kook Jin, Hyung Jin, Rev. Kwak and the Boon Bong Wangs must all gather here. The 21st is a very important day and Father has laid much jungsung and has great interest in this day.
This morning I went up to Father at 4:30 and offered jungsung. I told him that I wanted to stay with him. Then he stood up and said "Today I must attend Hoon Dok Hae." But he should rest. The helicopter accident was a major accident, so I told him that he should rest more. Usually in that kind of accident people don't survive. However, Father said I must then go and make sure everyone goes forward all together as one. Hearing his words, I felt deeply sorry to him. Because I'm his son and have been working in the church for 10 years, I know our situation. We have not become one. Even when we speak about the Divine Principle, one person thinks this way and another thinks that way. We have not become one. I felt so sorry in my heart. My poor father...
As a son if I want to be filial, what must I do? Even if I haven't been able to substantiate, my father has suffered so much to fulfill the providence and has walked this type of course for God. As a filial son, what is the course I am to walk...? (Hyun Jin Nim is crying) I believe there is only one way: That dream -- the dream that God could not realize. The dream that my father has taken responsibility for and has gone through so much suffering to realize... (Crying) We must become the owners of that dream.
Today Father will perhaps be giving special directions once again, so I will not go into this so deeply. In order for this providence to be realized, we should make all mankind into our true family. We have to remove Satan's lineage and with attending Heavenly Father as the owner, parents need to be able to take their position as True Parents and True Family need to be able to settle in their rightful position. For Blessed Central Families our responsibility is not only about receiving the Blessing ourselves. We must become owners of God's dream. We should be the owners of our True Father's dream. It has to become our dream as True Family.
I usually do not show my emotions in front of people, and today I did not want to come here like this before you. I just wanted to be with parents. Actually, when I travel the world so much and speak a lot in front of people and also take on large responsibilities, the time I get to spend with my family becomes so precious. But what my father taught me was not to live for the sake of myself, but to live for the sake of others. He said I am not to think individually, but to think of the greater purpose and I should set my goals in that same way, and that this is a true man.
I have tried to follow Father's words though I may not be good enough, but today after spending time with Father I have became more determined to do better. I think because Father cares about you and is always thinking about you, he sent me here to give you some words in his place. You are so precious as Blessed Central Families, but we should not keep that blessing to ourselves. We have to move all the people in the world. If you truly want to live as filial sons and daughters, as I felt this morning, I believe there is only one way and this is the path we must go together. The dream of God and True Parents should become my dream. Even if Parents lose their strength, we should become their hands and feet and fulfill that dream. What do you all think? (Aju) I think there will be special directions from Father especially for the Boon Bong Wangs.
102. Hyun Jin Moon's First International Cattle Drive for Peace and Unity

In February of this year, Hyun Jin Nim and several leaders visited Leda, a land situated next to the Paraguay River in the Chaco region of Paraguay where, eight years ago, Japanese brothers, directed by True Parents and headed by Reverend Kamiyama, pioneered. They built a tremendous foundation with their own hands, in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees in the winter to 120 degrees in the summer.
While riding some of the horses near the corrals, Hyun Jin Nim saw some of our cattle being herded to another part of the pastureland. He and several others joined in to help. During this short ride, he began formulating the idea of a major cattle drive from one part of the Chaco to Leda. But this was not just to enjoy ourselves or to actualize a childhood dream of being cowboys. He meant to bring young leaders from Paraguay who had never seen this part of the country, to participate, educating them for the future peace and unity of their nation and the region of South America as a whole.
Some of those young leaders he had met a few days before were so excited when they heard about the cattle drive that they instantly put aside their schedules and wanted to come. One of those leaders is a soccer legend in Paraguay who was very eager to participate. Another young leader, whose wife was expecting their first child any day, realized this event was so important that he came as well.
On June 18th, we all arrived at Fort Olimpo, the same town where True Parents stayed over ten years ago to spend forty days with the National Messiahs. The town was so excited about the cattle drive that they closed the schools; many of the town’s people came out for the opening ceremony that would launch the drive. After several local officials spoke and the priest gave the cattle drive his blessing, Hyun Jin Nim spoke, explaining his inspiration for the cattle drive and the hope for the future it would bring.
With the conclusion of the ceremony, the participants mounted their horses, and with Hyun Jin Nim and the soccer player carrying the national flag, rode through the streets of the town and onto the dirt road that would take them to the herd after two days of riding.
For many of the riders, this was their first time being on a horse at all. So, throughout the day, with the sun beaming on them and the trees, brush and water holes going past them, their muscles began to protest. Some riders realized they would be walking kind of funny at the end of the day.
Finally, near 3:00 or 4:00 pm, the riders arrived at their first camp of the trip. Mr. Sano from Leda, who did much of the preparation work for the drive, met everyone at the camp, which was now full of tents and the aroma of dinner cooking. With the sun setting on one end of the camp and the full moon rising on the other end, all the riders received their dinner and sat into the night around the camp fire, talking about the day’s ride and listening to Hyun Jin Nim’s advice about riding.
The next morning, we started at 7:00 am, with the sun already up, and began our ride of almost 40 kilometers. By car, it doesn’t take long to drive, but on horseback, under the hot sun, it took us until mid-afternoon. Hyun Jin Nim served dinner, and he and the participants continued to share their thoughts and vision.
The next morning, right after breakfast, some gauchos and another herd of cattle arrived at our camp. Together, with overcast clouds and a cold wind now covering us in the new morning, we started the cattle drive in earnest. The drive now was at a slow pace, for the cattle and horses would graze along the road and went at their own speed.
After many kilometers and at least two rest stops, we arrived at our next campsite. With the gauchos putting the herd in an area of pastureland for grazing, we again stretched our legs and prepared our tents for the night. Hyun Jin Nim, always trying to improve himself, practiced throwing the lasso.
During the next few days we continued the drive toward Leda, still under the cover of clouds and a cold wind. Around lunchtime, we came upon a very small group of houses. The women and children gave us a letter asking for help in improving their school. Hyun Jin Nim gave his lunch to the children, and the other riders did so as well. Hyun Jin Nim, who wanted to taste a real Paraguayan meal, asked, almost jokingly, if the women could cook a lunch for us. To his amazement, the women spent the next two hours preparing a lunch of fresh chicken for almost twenty of us. We all enjoyed the best meal we had had in several days.
On the morning of the last day of the drive, the participant whose wife was expecting, called him on his phone and told him that she would be having a C-section (the umbilical cord was loosely wrapped around the baby’s neck) that night to deliver their first child. Still convinced that this cattle drive as a great moment in the history of Paraguay, he wanted to finish the drive before going back to see his child.
We arrived around midday of the last day at the entrance to the property at Leda, where some Japanese members met us. With five kilometers to go, the cattle drive began its last leg to the finish line. Driving through a nest of mosquitoes and some rain, Hyun Jin Nim led the herd across the finish line.
At noon the next day, a celebration was held, with several dignitaries in attendance. After an opening prayer, the celebration cake was cut, and testimonies were given by several participants.
One testimony was by the person whose wife was giving birth. He was on the verge of tears. During the night, the doctors realized that a miracle was taking place. The umbilical cord loosened from the neck of the baby and his wife was able to give birth naturally the next morning. At 8;30 am, he became a proud father of a baby boy. His wife and son were doing well. He was smiling and tearful at the same time. Hyun Jin Nim told him now he will see the world and his life much differently.
Hyun Jin Nim spoke, again explaining his reasons for the cattle drive, and gave each participant a special gift and a memorial portrait.
Afterward, everyone went to the corral area, where ten cows were brought. Hyun Jin Nim donated these cows to the mayor of the nearest Indian village. The mayor was extremely grateful.
With a final group photo, the First International Cattle Drive for Peace and Unity was completed. God’s blessings for Paraguay and the region could truly begin with the victories of the cattle drive and the following week’s Global Peace Festival. For the participants, their lives were changed by Hyun Jin Nim’s vision for their country. For those of us older folks, we were rejuvenated to dream big again as we had when we first joined the movement many years ago. We may have taken longer to get on our horses than the younger folks and literally ached every inch of the way, but our hearts and minds are younger now and energized for the work ahead. We can’t wait for next year’s cattle drive.

"YOU'RE crazy."
Not exactly the benediction we were looking for, but it seemed like the were always the first words we heard from people while organizing our Cattle Drive for Peace and Unity through the rugged outback of Paraguay.
I can't say I blame them. When you Google "Upper Paraguay's Chaco," words like "inhospitable" and "thorny forest" dominate descriptions of the terrain. Temperatures in the summer rainy season (November - April) can reach 115 degrees. Dirt roads, which barely exist in the best of times, turn into hazardous, boot-sucking goo, and mosquitoes are the slate bird. Weather in the dry season varies from 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) at night to 90 in the daytime. Jaguars, poisonous snakes, with gators and piranha in the rivers -- what more could you ask for?
We were proposing to drive 150 head of cattle, all of them pregnant, a distance of 170 kilometers (106 miles) over the aforementioned hostile landscape and iffy roads. June is winter in Paraguay, which is actually a good thing. Summer would be ten times worse. The drovers included people from Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Korea, Japan and the United States. About half the twenty riders were youngish (20s and 30s) Paraguayan businessmen and sons of leading political families, the emerging leaders of their country.
A cattle drive is self-explanatory, so why "peace and unity"? The drive was a run-up to the Global Peace Festival in Asuncion, July 2-5, celebrating the interfaith vision of One Family Under God.
Hyun-jin nim explained further; "Moving cattle is a way of learning, a way to tear down the curtain between the affluent sons of Paraguay's upper class and the country people who have very little in the way of material goods." Even most Paraguayans have never visited their country's Chaco and do not realize its economic potential for the country in terms of cattle, eco-tourism and biofuels. We wanted to help them have an intimate experience with a part of their own country most had never taken time to appreciate because it's so far from the capital and so hard to get into and out of.
It was also a spiritual offering to God -- hard work, performed in unity to ask His blessing on this land, to which we offer ourselves in service. We are all familiar with Jesus' analogy between fishing and bringing souls back to God. Well, we like to think that if Israel had been landlocked, Peter would have been a cowboy and Jesus would have told hint "I will make you cattle drivers of men."
Finally, it was part leadership education on horseback, with Hyun-jin nim conveying to us his father's experiences and teachings. The companion text was God's beautiful creation itself, mad and studied by the light of an enormous full moon.
We began in Puerte Olimpo on the Paraguay River, a couple of hours north of Asuncion by small plane. The first day's ride was the most stressful because we were all getting used to being on a horse all day, as well as getting acquainted with our mount's individual personality. Hyun-jin nim told us before we started, "You will understand that horses are living beings, each with a unique character. As it is with people, some are leaders; some arc followers. What works with one, will not necessarily work with another."
One of our relatively inexperienced riders had trouble with a horse that constantly tried to run away with him. He could barely keep the animal under control. After a while he swapped horses with Marcelo, a lifelong rider who owns a small cattle ranch in the Chaco. Under an experienced hand, the horse settled down, and the new rider did fine with the gentler horse.
The sun was brutally hot that first day, and in its own way it helped us get our priorities straight. When we began that eight-hour ride, I had all kinds of non-essentials in my saddlebags -- flashlight, jacket, mosquito repellent, energy bars, binoculars. After that first day, packing for the ride became real simple -- water, sunscreen, more water.
We helped each other as we rode, sharing water, horse advice and bits of information about ourselves. But it was around the campfire each night, staring into glowing embers under a star-filled sky that people said what was really on their minds and we got to know each other.
Arid, whose family owns a major sugar cane mill in Paraguay, asked Hyun-jin nim, "We are inspired about Paraguay, because we are Paraguayan. But we all want to know what inspires you about Paraguay."
Hyun-jin nim spoke about his childhood in post-war Korea. He sees comparisons between the Korea of his childhood and today's Paraguay. "This is a young country and though it isn't wealthy, there is idealism here. I hope they can keep their vision." People respond well to Hyun-jin nim because he makes Paraguayans proud to be Paraguayan. He recognizes their potential and tells them to believe in themselves as a nation that can be aligned with God and that will be blessed by God.
"What we're doing here," he told us, "is not just about moving cows from one place to another. This is about restoring a nation." He said we should apply the feeling we have of being responsible for all these cattle toward feeling a sense of ownership for this country. People took it to heart. There evolved a general understanding, largely because of elements infused into the discussion from Hyun-jin nim's perspective, that we were doing something for Paraguay. We started to think this ride was special, not just because of what we were doing, but also because of who was there.
The ride was not a cakewalk. One of our more experienced riders had his saddle cinch fail while galloping. The saddle rolled with him; hard and fast he hit the hard, gravel mad as the horse ran over him -- concussion, six cracked ribs, a cracked shoulder blade and a punctured lung. As he was also one of the ride's organizers, he had put into place a medical evacuation procedure for just such an occasion. He had done a good job; we flew him to a hospital in Asuncion by small plane. He's home now and recovering nicely.
Another rider was tossed onto his face when his mount came to an abrupt stop. It had simply had enough of carrying him all day in the hot sun. Scratches and a cracked rib. The injuries were sobering wake-up calls for the rest of us. Hyun-jin nim had been telling us, "Don't ride beyond your ability," and now we knew what he meant.
But even without putting horses, hooves and horns into the equation, the Chaco has its own perils. A radio call away we had a couple of medics who carried snake bite anti-venom for some species of viper. I asked one if he thought the anti-venom was effective. "Sure," he said, "If you get bit by the right kind of snake."
At least we had roads to use. Much of the moving of cattle in the Chaco is from one place to another on your land where there are no roads at all. Marcelo pointed to the wall of thorn trees lining the road, and said, "Driving cattle through this stuff is pure hell."
Among the lasting impressions are the Southern Cross constellation, the smell of horses and new leather, and how sounds carry extraordinarily well in the pre-dawn darkness -- a cough, quiet conversations in Spanish, English and Guarani, the unmistakable sound of teeth being brushed, somebody spitting.
One night, under a spectacular sky, Father Maldonado brought out his guitar and we discovered another side to our cowboy Catholic priest -- songs so tenderly rendered that it made even those who don't understand Spanish wistful. He sang love songs to God as well.
By only the beginning of the second day, we were all getting to know our horses. You quickly bond with someone who is willing to carry you all day on his back, under the hot sun.
We originally figured on twenty kilometers per day, but cooler temperatures and strong horses enabled us to do thirty-five to forty km on most days. Bottoms and inner thighs unaccustomed to saddles were another thing; we each spent some quality time with our Ibuprofen. But on day three when we did a full forty and nobody died or felt they couldn't continue, a pride of accomplishment settled over all of us. We knew we could do it again.
People who know horses can easily tell if someone else does too, and Hyun-jin nim won the immediate respect of the vaqueros by his obvious savvy and good horsemanship. Their respect increased when they found out he had jumped horses in the Olympics. But an incident on the trail made him a legend. His horse was fatigued; he and the vaqueros thought it was time to change horses. He took off the saddle and was preparing to put a bridle on another mount, when the horse he had unsaddled -- the one he been on since the beginning -- came over, pushed itself between Hyun-jin nim and the new horse. The horse got his rump against the new horse's chest and backed up, pushing him out of the way. He then walked over to Hyun-jin ram and laid his head against Hyun-jin nim's chest so that he could have his neck stroked. It was a tender moment that surprised and touched everyone.
Another thing the Paraguayans noticed and commented on was how Hyun-jin nin gave so completely of himself during the ride. After we took the saddles off each evening and took care of our horses, the urge to find a place to sit and pull into yourself, or lay down to sleep, was strong. It's these small moments, when nobody is particularly looking, that determine whether you really do live for others, or for yourself.
At nearly every meal Hyun-jin Min quietly took up his station by the pots and ladled out mystery chow to each cowboy. Only after everyone had theirs, did he fix his own plate and sit down to eat.
Other times he was showing individuals things that would improve their riding or drawing people out about their lives or plans for the future. We set up tin cans across a pond one afternoon and took turns shooting at them with a rifle. He took a personal interest in each one's shooting style.
After dinner or at breakfast, whenever there was a reflective moment, Hyun-jin nim laid out a vision of God's hope for Paraguay and all its families. It was relevant, and people were hungry for it. Wherever he put down a camp chair and sat, a circle of chairs naturally formed around him.
All during our time on the trail he was fully engaged with everyone, doing seemingly without effort what real leaders do.
Hyun-jin nim had given instructions that the meals should be simple and Paraguayan. Maybe a breakfast of peanuts and hominy floating in hot sugared milk (with cloves) can be called simple, but the cook was Brazilian, and very little we ate was Paraguayan.
Breakfast one morning featured baby pig parts, killed and cooked by Antonio, on whose land we were staying. Accompanying that was coquito, a hard, dry, flavorless bread stick that even when freshly made does a good job of imitating stale bread. Also, shredded raw cabbage and thick, black sweetened coffee. Delicious!
Another time, breakfast was two pieces of salty cheese, a couple of coquitos and half a cup of coffee. It took less time to eat than it does to read that last sentence.
So we foraged a bit. Someone caught a yacart (a cousin of the alligator) which the vaqueros cleaned and cooked. It was amazingly good. Juan, who is president of a university with eight campuses scattered around the country, stopped at a farmhouse along the road and bought some chips (cheese bread) from the lady of the house. It was still warm, and fresh from the oven. He rode up and down the line with it, handing a piece to each rider. A little country store had a couple of two-liter bottles of warm no-brand cola, which we bought and passed around as we rode.
After three days of such simplicity the very first question anyone asked when encountering a new life form was "can you eat it?" In the Chaco, the answer is always yes. Late one night someone caught a lane halite, an armadillo that rolls itself completely into a ball. But we had just finished woofing down chicken-fried reptile, so we let the little guy off the hook.
Food, which was not on anyone's mind as much as it might seem from reading this, led to a poignant incident in the tiny and very poor village of Maria Auxiliadora (Mary the Helper) on the next to the last day of the ride. Standing alongside the road were several mothers and children waiting for us. Word of the cattle drive had preceded us and they met us with a letter asking our help in improving their one-room schoolhouse.
Our Brazilian bag lunches had candy in them, so Hyun-jin nim, who has a house full of his own children, got off his horse and started fishing around for some candy to give to the kids. Then he just handed the entire lunch to one of the mothers. As soon as he did that all the rest of us dismounted, dug our lunches out of our saddlebags and handed them over to the mothers.
Not expecting anything at all, and partly in jest, Hyun-jin nim asked, "Since we gave you our lunches, can you make a real Paraguayan lunch for us?"
"Yes," they responded immediately. "Please come with us."
We were fourteen people. Their house barely had walls. It was an open shelter with beds scattered around. They had a handful of chickens and ducks in the yard. They butchered four chickens and a duck for our lunch. They set up a table and chairs in their living mom, which had only two walls, and cooked for us a delicious meal of boribori (chicken soup), mandiem bread and duck empanadas.
We were in heaven, but we knew they had fed us several days worth of food. Again, Hyun-jin nim was transported back to his childhood, where food was little but hospitality and community were large. Before we left, we gave them a contribution so they could replace their chickens and duck and the food they used for us, and a bit extra. But we had to offer it -- they asked for nothing.
Hyun-jin nim was very moved by this and later said he thought in that moment, "This is what God wants all His Paraguayan children to be like. If this nation can have the vision to allow this kind of character to come forth and lead Latin America, Paraguay will be a great nation. Out in the wilderness of the Chaco, among people who have nothing. I encountered the true heart of Paraguay!"
Epilogue
For people with a spiritual orientation the cattle drive was a five-day prayer for a nation. And everybody felt it.
When we got the cattle to Leda successfully, Hyun-jin nim donated a bull from there and nine cows to the upriver Indian villagers of Esperanza, who had promised to raise them as public property, increasing the herd for the funding of schools, medical care and college tuition.
During the ride, Marcelo got word that his wife's impending delivery of their first child had encountered complications, with the umbilical cord now wrapped completely around the baby's neck. We offered to drive him back to Puerte Olimpo, but he insisted on finishing the drive and the spiritual offering for Paraguay, of which he had now taken full ownership. All this despite his being in agony about the baby's delivery and burning up the satellite phone getting frequent updates. It looked like an emergency cesarean would be required. The operation was scheduled for the morning after we arrived in Leda.
But something interesting happened during the night. The umbilical cord slowly unwrapped itself from the baby's neck and the child was born by natural delivery. Marcelo burst into tears as he got the news on the sat-phone, with everyone standing around.
We told him, Marcelo, you sacrificed your own heart's interests in order to take care of God and this important spiritual offering. And while you were doing that, God was taking care of your wife and son.
100. Sports as Fuel for Dreams

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I'm sincerely grateful for your participation in today's event. It is my distinct honor to be hem today as president of both the Peace Dream Foundation and the Sun Moon Peace Football Foundation.
As you know very well, the Sun Moon Peace Football Foundation has organized numerous football tournaments, such as the Peace Cup and the Peace Queen Cup, to raise awareness and raise funds in order to promote a new concept a new vision, that football can be a tool in generating peace and harmony all around the world.
We have also worked together with UN NGOs and charities to hold the Peace Star Cup, which is a football league comprised of celebrities using their talents and their influence to create a culture of service and peace. By their example, the world can see the possibilities for peace as these leading figures in society go beyond the comfort of their own experience and contribute to realizing the greater dream of world peace.
Furthermore, this vision is also represented in Peace Korea, which serves to bring unity between Korean groups living in Japan...
The Sun Moon Peace Football Foundation has one overriding purpose in convening these football tournaments. That purpose is to realize the vision of peace. In addition to the projects already mentioned, there have been other football tournaments around the world that support youth in underdeveloped countries and educate them about sportsmanship, altruism, teamwork, fair play, character-building through gracious winning and losing -- but mostly how to build peace centered upon a peace dream.
This is a global movement centered upon social responsibility through sports supported by the profits made through all the cup events. When understood in this way, the Peace Cup and Peace Queen Cup can be recognized as truly significant international events...
Before taking on this position as the new president of the foundation, I have actively worked to establish an international culture of service by establishing a UN-recognized service organization called Service for Peace and now am embarked on launching the Global Peace Festival which will be a global festival to honor the vision of global peace. In particular I have done my best to raise international leaders who can lead in the twenty-first century, recognizing that experiential learning through challenge and experiences and actual service work is the key to building peace.
I will lead the Peace Dream Foundation forward with all my commitment and my energy. We will expand to include culture and the arts in addition to sports. We plan to build a soccer field overlapping the borders of Israel and Palestine. Isn't that amazing? And we will build a football academy for the children in both areas. This project will help bring peace in the Middle East through a project called Play Football, Make Peace. Both Israelis and Palestinians consider this a very significant and hopeful project and anticipate making great strides toward the realization of peace in their region by tapping and harmonizing the energy of their youth.
Starting in 2008, the Peace Queen Cup will award a prize to people who have contributed to world peace through sports and have worked with the vision of the peace dream...
There am more projects and programs for realizing peace within the Peace Dream Foundation with the profits from Peace Star Cup we are able to support the $9 million campaign for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees by holding the Peace Dream Cup for children living in refugee camps in Liberia and in Bangladesh.
As you know we are opening the 2008 Peace Queen Cup this afternoon. I sincerely hope that you will continue to show your support for the Sun Moon Peace Football Foundation and sincerely ask you for your encouragement, and your work, to achieve the vision of our new organization. May we continue to receive God's blessing upon our work. In this way we can be assured of a bright future and great success.
And being a son of the greatest football fan I know, who happens to be the Reverend Dr. Sun Myung Moon -- who had the vision of bringing football and the vision of peace together -- I ask that we work together to accomplish that as yet unaccomplished dream of world peace during our lifetimes. Excerpts from address to the Opening Plenary of the Americas Summit, Washington, DC, USA
Esteemed members of the head table, Your Excellencies, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen
This is truly an honor for me to be here today, being in this gathering of international leaders of the Americas where we are discussing a new paradigm for problem-solving and conflict-resolution that can change the hemisphere of the Americas.
In 1776, when the United States was first formed, it embarked on a great experiment, a great adventure in a world filled with state-sponsored religions. It made a proclamation to the world that this will be a nation rooted in God, recognizing and upholding His sovereignty, but also a place where all people of faith could come and build their home. It embarked on a great experiment and vision and hope of interfaith -- bringing the faith traditions of the world to its shores to make the greatest nation the modern world has seen.
The greatest document of the modern era, I believe, was the Declaration of Independence, where it is written, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.”
In one sense, we are unique in that the history of the Americas is relatively recent, and it began rooted in a dream and a vision. Yes, it was brought over from Europe but there were indigenous people who lived on this continent. And it was a fusion of those aspirations from Europe as well as the cultures that existed here that created the unique promise of what the Americas represented.
What made America great was the spirit of religious freedom, a spirit of building one family under God. It was the recognition that God’s divine sovereignty over this land allowed America to stand as a moral nation among all the nations of the world. The American vision inspired the greatest aspiration of building that “city upon a hill” where all people of all faiths who believed in that one God could come and call this their nation.
Before we call ourselves Christians, before we call ourselves Muslims, before we call ourselves Jews or Buddhists, once again, we are sons and daughters of God and members of His eternal family. I believe the promise of America is the promise of building a nation that recognizes and affirms these principles and, therefore, it is these principles that we need to hearken to at this hour and at this stage when the hemisphere of the Americas is in need of direction
It was 2,000 years ago that a young carpenter’s son inspired the world with a message of universal salvation. He did not come to establish a new religion. He came to establish a movement of peace, recognizing that God was the holy Parent of all humankind and recognizing that beyond the chosen people of whom he was a part, that God has a heart to embrace all humankind. And it was his vision to bring the message of building one family under God to that ancient world. Although he was cut short in fulfilling his vision when he lost his mortal life, the vision that he inspired, the message that he gave, led to the development of the modern world as we know it and the very basis for human rights as we know it today.
It is the recognition that we are all sons and daughters of God that has allowed humanity to be aware that we human beings, coming from this divine legacy, that we have infinite value, and even that nations, governments and institutions of law must be subordinate to the values that God has given to humanity. The problem is, may people want to talk about human rights, yet don’t want to talk about our common legacy in God.
Consider the experience of the 20th century, and the Nazi regime in Germany. It was a democratically elected government, but it was also a regime centered on the value systems of the political state, not of God. We saw horrendous, inhumane acts that this regime committed toward the Jews and all those peoples they thought were inferior.
We need only hearken back to the history of Communism in the last century where 200 million people were killed in the name of a so-called proletariat revolution to bring greater equality. It failed to created equality because it did not recognize God and the human dignity that can only come from the values God created.
I believe the world is at a decisive point where we can truly move toward peace or go back to the turmoil of the past. The vision of one family under God did not die with the death of that carpenter’s son 2,000 years ago. The vision of one family under God has been brought to the world stage once again through the efforts of a young farm boy who went into the hills near his North Korean home many years ago and in deep prayer and meditation asked God, pleaded with God, to give him a revelation or a vision that could allow humanity to find peace, and in the process also alleviate the suffering heart of God as the eternal Parent of humankind.
He sensed that an eternal Parent who sees the conflict and turmoil that human history has wrought must be a suffering God and Parent. That young farm boy who received the revelation and the vision of one family under God and made a covenant pact on that fateful Easter Sunday more than 70 years ago is none other than my father the Reverend Dr. Sun Myung Moon.
My father came to this nation at a time of crisis where America was losing this spiritual center and core. Yes, America was a great democracy. Yes, America was a great capitalist nation. But it was this spiritual core and the vision of one family under God, and the values established by this idea, that made this nation great. The dream that brought my father to this nation 35 years ago was a hope to rekindle the original spirit that made this nation truly great. He felt a divine providential calling to revive the founding Pilgrim spirit upon which this nation was built. He believed that was this spirit that made this nation great.
Sometimes it takes a foreigner or immigrant to recognize the value of a nation or region. Thirty-five years ago I had the great fortune of coming here to the United States with my family. For my family the American dream was not a political dream. Is America’s political system, being the greatest democracy in the world, the quality that made America great? To us, that was not the American dream. Nor was it an economic dream. Is being the greatest capitalistic nation in the world what made America great? No.
The vision of building one family under God is alive and well through the efforts of the Universal Peace Federation and thousands of Ambassadors for Peace who are committed as owners to fulfill this vision of one family under God. What greater opportunity is there for the Americas, which is a predominantly Christian hemisphere that is rooted in the original vision of building one family under God through the work of Jesus Christ? What better way to lead the world to peace than for the people of the Americas to adopt the initiative not just for one nation under God, but for one family under God and the values and the principles that this engenders?
I had the great fortune of taking the message of one family under God throughout the world. I believe that this is an even greater vision than one nation under God. The reason I believe this is that the idea of one family under God allows all of humanity to see itself as one unified family -- beyond the borders of any one nation, beyond ethnicity, and even beyond religious traditions.
We recognize our common heritage rooted in our divine heavenly Father before we see ourselves as Americans, before we see ourselves as Paraguayans or Panamanians, Koreans or Japanese. Before we are any of these, we are first and foremost the sons and daughters of God and members of His eternal family.
We talk about economic cooperation; we talk about political cooperation. What about cooperation in vision and in values and in principles? I believe that if we come together in the Americas based upon a common vision, common principles, and common values, the political and economic benefits of cooperation will naturally follow.
This is a time in which we as leaders need to dream big and think boldly about what this future can offer. This is a time in which we need to fight for a vision and ideas that can move humanity in this 21st century to a world of peace, prosperity, and most important, humanity’s divine dignity. I believe that the time is right for this world to receive the message of one family under God and it is the Americas, as a united hemisphere rooted in these God-centered values, that can lead the world to peace in the 21st century.

98. A Vision for Peace in South America

This was the keynote address given at the closing session of the International Leadership Conference in Lima, Peru, as part of a six-nation tour that included Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Brazil, April 13-26, 2008.
I want to thank all of you for such a warm welcome. Although this is my first visit to Peru, I truly feel embraced by a long-lost family. I am sure that a bright future is awaiting this nation. I was tremendously moved by our two Ambassadors for Peace who encapsulated the vision of UPF, emphasizing the spirit of taking ownership of the vision of UPF and sharing it with the leadership of this nation of Peru.
I believe that tremendous things can happen here if our Ambassadors for Peace become the owners of this dream of building one family under God. A vision and a dream without an owner is just an idea, but a vision and a dream with an owner can transform the world!
This Latin American tour is a tour rooted in a vision that is bound up with the history of the Americas. Every time I talk about history it excites me. When I was about to go to Columbia University, I asked my Father, "What do you think I should major in?" My father never tells his children to do one thing. He wants us to choose. He wants us to take ownership. So he gave me three choices. And to make a long story short, I chose history, especially the history of America.
It is true that the history of America is a history fraught with violence. But it is fundamentally a history with promise, with passion, and with dreams. When the Europeans first came to America they were looking for a way to the East. Christopher Columbus, however, found the Caribbean and it was from the hub of those island nations within the Caribbean that later Europeans landed in Central America.
Before the coming of the Europeans, the seat of civilization of the Americas was in Central and South America. There were civilizations equal to all great civilizations of the world. When I think about the Incan people who built Machu Picchu on the high mountains of the Andes, I wonder what their aspirations and dreams must have been to toil so hard to build a beautiful temple and a city on top of the world. And I can only imagine the first eyes of Europeans who looked upon the majesty of that civilization and were totally overwhelmed. Yet the tragic reality as the Europeans came onto South America was that they ignored the richness of the culture and were blinded by greed. In pursuit of wealth, they robbed and raped Central America and South America.
Yet the history of North America was very different. The native people of North America were nomads. They did not establish these grand civilizations. And most of the Europeans who came to North America came for other reasons than for wealth and personal enrichment. One exception was Jamestown, which was a venture focused on economic wealth. The settlements of Europeans that flourished were those settlements that were seeking to find and build a nation under God. They came because of religion, not because of gold.
I am not native to the Americas, for I was born all the way across the Pacific Ocean, in the nation of Korea. However, I consider the Americas my true home. I have adopted the nation of America as my second home.
To me the American dream was never merely a political dream. It was not an economic dream. We all know that democracies without values rooted in self-interest can be just as ruthless and just as dictatorial as a totalitarian regime, and that capitalism not controlled by values can lead to a world of those who have and those who have not. The American dream was a dream of building One Nation under God, a nation that uniquely recognized the sovereignty of God and through that realization was committed to uplifting the human family to the dignity that can only come from God. Thus the first document that marked the birth of that nation, the Declaration of Independence, directly recognized the sovereignty of God as the basis upon which the rights of any American are derived, and the basis on which the nation would be established.
Throughout the history of North America, it had this base in God and this base in universal principles that can only come from God, uplifting human dignity to the level of human rights, universal human right.
But human beings are flawed, and there were many failures along the way. Still, as a government of the people etched the history of that nation, it was these universal principles, the founding bedrock of this nation that brought it back on track and made it great.
As an example, one only needs to look at the plight of the Blacks in America who came on that continent as slaves, considered less than human beings. Those Founding Fathers who built that nation upon that sacred document, that covenant with God, realized the moral sin that they were committing. Thus before even the first 100 years of the new nation were concluded, the nation embarked on a great Civil War where this issue was resolved and through the instrument of government, all people -- whether Black or White -- were given equal freedom under the law.
But we know that human value and human rights are not given by governments. They are only given by one human being to another. So although the Blacks had equal rights under the law, in practice, they were still second-class citizens. Whites would not give them the dignity that comes from the truth that we are of one common heritage, the truth that before Americans are Blacks and Whites, we are sons and daughters of God.
This issue only became resolved a hundred years later in the 20th century. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was not a political leader, not an academic, not a civic leader, but a religious leader who led the way. He carried the authority that can only come from God, but he did not cite the Bible. Instead he cited the founding documents upon which the United States was built, which states "We hold these truths to be self-evident that we are all endowed by our Creator, with certain inalienable rights." He piqued the conscience of the nation and finally moved it to realign with the founding vision of building One Nation under God.
Today, centered upon the work of the Universal Peace Federation we have an even greater dream than One Nation under God. One Nation under God means only one out of 200 nations will be a nation that recognizes the sovereignty of God. The vision of building one family under God is a vision that goes far beyond national borders, beyond races and ethnicities, beyond religious traditions. We can build one world of peace based on this common vision and a common value system of principles that come from this truth.
One of the amazing blessings that God has given to the Western hemisphere is Christianity. It is a Christian hemisphere. I always ask myself and ask my Christian brothers and sisters, "What is the true mission of Jesus?" "What does it mean to be a true Christian?"
Two thousand years ago, the young son of a carpenter changed the world in which he lived. He offered a vision for humanity that touched the conscience and the hearts of people not only in his native Judea but also throughout the Greek and Roman worlds.
What was that truth that he taught? It was a message of true love that could even embrace one’s enemy. In the Sermon on the Mount, he said, "It is said an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, but I say unto thee, that if you are hit on one cheek that you shall even offer the other." This profound truth was the core of a message of hope that we are sons and daughters of God, members of one eternal human family. It is the role and the mission of the Son of Man to bring this family together as one, under God.
Jesus was born into the lineage of Israel, a chosen people who believed in one God when most other civilizations believed in many gods. Carrying the lineage of Abraham, they felt they had a sacred covenant with God. It was Jesus’ hope that his nation would receive him and help him fulfill his original mission, to realize the original dream that God had for humanity before humanity ever separated from God. That dream is the dream of building one family under God.
Jesus was not accepted. However, he began to speak of the need for new wineskins to receive that new wine. He lamented that although the birds that fly in the air, the fish that swim in the sea, and the animals that crawl on the earth have a home without borders, the Son of Man had no home to rest his head.
Yet that message and that vision that he gave 2,000 years ago has transformed the world. At that time, the world had no sense of human rights, as we understand it. Slavery was an accepted institution. There was no sense of women’s rights. There was no understanding of building a family under God. Christianity became the foundation and starting point upon which the modern world was built. Thus, if one wants to talk about human rights, human rights first and foremost start with God and the truth that we all are one family under that God.
I believe that in this world of global crisis and conflict, a world where there is a real potential for religious war; that the message that was sown 2,000 years ago of one family under God now needs to be brought to the world stage. And it can happen centered upon this hemisphere that has been appointed and anointed by God to carry on that mission.
More than 70 years ago, this dream was once again revisited to humanity. On the windswept hilltops on North Korea on a cold Easter Sunday, a young boy of 15 went up into those mountains to spend time in prayer and meditation. There he received the inspiration and the revelation of building one family under God.
That young boy made a promise on that fateful day. He knew that his life would be a life of carrying the cross. Yet he was willing to surrender his life and surrender his own ambitions for the sake of bringing this message to the world. This is not a vision of just one man and not a vision of just one family. This is a vision for all humanity.
That young boy that went up into those hilltops in North Korea those many years ago is none other than my father, the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. He is bringing to humanity once again the importance of the vision of building one family under God.
Based upon that vision and that aspiration, a growing network of Ambassadors for Peace spans the globe committed to fulfill this dream. This is the foundation that can lead this world to peace, and this is the truth that will guide the faith leaders of the world to not use their faiths and their denominations to divide and justify conflict within the human family.
It will guide them to do much more than merely tolerate other faiths. In the truth of building one family under God, before we are Muslim, Christian, or Jew, before we are America, Peruvian, or Korean, before we are Black, White, or Yellow we are first and foremost the sons and daughters of God. We all share the responsibility of fulfilling one family under God. That is the common, shared truth and vision to which the whole human family should aspire.
Just as your Incan ancestors had high aspirations as they built that great civilization upon the high mountaintops of the Andes, I believe that Peru has a special place and that the seeds have been planted here among the Ambassadors for Peace who have ownership of this dream of peace. In other words, it’s not just ideas, it’s not just nice talk, but our Ambassadors for Peace in this nation are becoming owners! As I explained at the beginning, a vision and a dream without an owner is just an idea. Yet a vision and a dream that has an owner can transform the world.
This is the time in which we need to dream big. We need to aspire for the greatest of things. Just like that nation to the North that was anointed by God and has risen to the highest peak of all nations in the world, so too, can Central and South America rise if they become the owner of the dream of building one family under God. Not one nation under God, but one family under God, rooted in the eternal universal principle that can only come from God.
If this region has been held back in development, it is not for want of an abundance of resources, nor for any lack in the capacity of its people. Through this tour in Central America and South America, I am convinced that in terms of resources and in terms of human capital, there is nothing lacking here compared to the North. But if I may be so bold to suggest, it needs the great vision and principles and values that can uplift the people to go beyond individual self-interest, beyond the interest of one’s family, beyond even interests of one’s nation. We must seek and aspire for the greatness of the whole region, the greatness of a continent, the greatness of the Americas, reviving the spirit and dream of leading the whole world to peace. That is why I am here.
I believe God has prepared this nation of Peru to have a special place amongst nations. Great things happen in small packages. I want to challenge you Ambassadors for Peace to dream the greatest dream of all and to aspire for the greatness beyond even that of your ancestors that built the majesty of Machu Picchu and the civilization of the Inca Empire.
Although the United States today stands at the top of all nations in the world, when they embarked in their bold adventure of nationhood it was a rag-tag colony of thirteen small, small states. Yet they won independence from the most powerful empire in the world. The reason why that nation rose to greatness was, as I explained, not because of politics, not because of its economic system, but because it acknowledged God. They established a covenant that recognized the sovereignty of God.
If Peru can become a nation that recognizes the sovereignty of God as the basis of creating a new Peru, rooted in the greatest vision of all, one family under God, and rooted in those fundamental principles, this nation can become a leading nation not only in this hemisphere but in the world.

Dear Parents.
Although I had this report prepared earlier to send to you, due to the length of what I had written in English, the translation to Korean had taken longer than I expected. More importantly, I withheld sending this report due to the painful, sudden seunghwa of Hyo Jin hyung. Parents, when I have trouble sleeping at night from this recent sacrifice. How much more difficult would it be for you? With Shinyea's seunghwa I came to know all too well, the excruciating and agonizing heart of parents who have to send their child to spirit world ahead of themselves. It was hard to bear this experience for one child and my heart is full of pain thinking of you, who had to endure this over and over again throughout your life course. My heart and prayers are always with you, and my only desire is to be a more filial son to bring solace to Parents. Please regain your strength and please take care of your health.
Father, even as you approach your centennial year, your commitment to bring about the realization of God's dream is an inspiration to us all. I know that this charge has been the motivating factor throughout your colorful life and, through all the trials and tribulations, your steadfast determination to this dream is what allowed our movement to flower in an environment with countless droughts.
Looking forward, I know that Parents recognize the challenges in front of us but, at the same time, realize the possibilities that are the product of decades of blood, sweat and tears. We stand today, on a worldwide stage very similar to the Christian foundation at the end of the Second World War, when humanity could have built a world of peace centered upon God's dream of building One Family Under God. That is why it is even more important for our entire movement to seriously look at the direction and goat of divine Providence, not only over the next 5 years, but beyond -- to truly fulfill the dream of One Family Under God.
As parents are fully aware, we are at a crossroads. The direction our movement takes today will determine the future. Father, in 2005, Father confided in me how dangerous and important the next three years would be. That would be 2007, 2008 and 2009. I, too, have felt the importance of this time and the urgency of building the right foundation and setting the right direction to align properly to providence. If we do, then the providential goals of restoring a nation and the eventual creation of an Abel UN are possible. However, if we don't, then we may be doomed to remain a cult or a small denomination of Christianity
With the end of the 40-year Wilderness course centered upon the Unification Church where the 6,000 years of lost Biblical history could be restored through a suffering path of indemnity. Parents ushered in the Age of Settlement and, later, proclaimed the era of Cheon II Guk where our movement could focus on the providential goal of building One Family Under God. Starting from July 30, 1996, you have been slowly moving our movement out of the Unification Church skin and into a broader movement engaged with changing the Cain-type world.
In line with the Principle of Restoration, Parents focused on eradicating Satan's blood lineage and ownership over humanity through the Blessing Movement starting from 1960 after your Holy Blessing. However, throughout the 40-year wilderness course, this movement was extended to only those disciples within the Unification Church. Starting from the early to mid-1990s to this day, it has expanded on a global scale to all qualified couples and families of the Cain-type world. With the subsequent creation of other Peace Federations, such as WFWP and YFWP, and membership organizations, such as the Ambassador for Peace movements, you started engage all races, nationalities, ethnic and professional groups etc. -- the broader human community. Finally with the coronation ceremonies of God and True Parents and through the creation of the Family Party and establishment of the Abel UN, you have prepared the stage for the "substantial" sovereignty of God and the Kingdom of a peaceful ideal world.
The steps that you have taken were methodical and in alignment with the direction of providential history. Yet, I know many leaders questioned the aforementioned initiatives raising concern over losing our 'church' identity, traditions and foundation. Not seeing the broader vision and goal of building One Family Under God, they mistakenly saw the foundation you created throughout the Age of Indemnity as your legacy and enduring purpose. Thus, jeong sung, as a son or daughter, meant worshipping the institutions and traditions rather than the dream which inspired its creation, namely the dream of building One Family Under God. Instead of moving forward towards the goal that God and True Parents outlined and, thereby, expanding our base and foothold in this fallen world, we have been looking to our past and focused on securing our established foundations.
Over the past 10 years, I have been guided by that dream of building One Family Under God and have led our movement, especially the 2nd generation and our 'young people,' with a consistent principle and view point to always align to this providential goal. As Parents announced at the beginning of this year, 2008 will be a critical year in determining the future of God's providence and the speed in which it is realized. As our movement launches into this year; I would like to report, from what perspective the Unification Movement will need to reposition, and with this in mind, I would like to briefly report the key activities of 2007 and what I am planning for 2008.
1. Parents' Legacy
The most important and pressing issue I see today is the legacy issue concerning the mission and purpose of Father's Life. It will not only determine how future generations will perceive Parents but will also guide the current generation. There is no doubt in my mind that the greatest and most enduring legacy of True Parents is the fulfillment of God's original dream of creating a True Family, where True Love, True Life and True Lineage are substantiated This has been the purpose of Creation and the goal of the Providence of Restoration and Recreation Representing the central, ancestral family of all mankind, the True Family is to set the model of aligning to the Will of God and leading humanity to realize the dream of creating One Family Under God. Not only was this God's original purpose but also the way in which the substantial restoration and recreation of humanity could come about through the expansion of the Blessing, eradicating Satan's ownership over humanity. Parents have stayed true to this divine revelation and thus guided our movement upon the foundation we stand on today. It is important to note that Parents' legacy, although including the creation and formation of many organizations and institutions is rooted in the "providential purpose" of realizing and expanding God's dream of building One Family Under God. The formation of those organizations and institutions were a means to which God's dream is to be fulfilled and not an ends to themselves.
It is important that our movement and the Cain type world recognize that the scope of Parent's work is not limited to the case of the Unification Church but is providentially based going all the way back to the beginning of human creation. Parents are the owners of the "unfulfilled" dream of God to build One Family Under God centered upon Adam's family. Father has inherited the Original Dream of God and is the one who perfected the three generations of True Family and its tradition which is the substantialized fruit of God's Dream. In addition, Father has lived to establish the word into 'One Family Under God' transcending all barriers centering on the truth that came as a divine revelation from God, namely the Divine Principle. Thus, the Divine Principle reveals the universal, absolute laws and principles embedded in the act of Creation of not only the physical universe but the human family itself. This is the most important legacy that will have history forever remember Parents as the True Parents of mankind and the True King of Peace.
The True Family, leading the Blessed Central Families, as the basis of the Unification Movement, needs to understand that it is God's dream of building One Family Under God that we must inherit and eventually become the owners of in order to legitimately stand as the heirs of Parents' legacy. For, the True Family has the responsibility to carry out Parents 'correct' legacy, not just as a religious leader and the founder of the Unification Church, but as the owners of God's dream to eventually realize One Family Under God. If we do not, then this dream rooted in providential purpose, will end within the second and subsequent generations. It is important to understand that the resources of our movement need to fulfill this end and not overshadow this purpose. Thus, position and authority should be utilized for the public and providential purpose of fulfilling the dream of building One Family Under God. Without this clears perspective, then the basis of unity and purpose for the current generation will be lost and Parent's true legacy forgotten. More importantly the True Family will not be able to fulfill its responsibility before history and providence to expand and substantiate this 'dream' to the rest of the Cain-type world.
2. The Need for Repositioning the Unification Movement
The mission that Father was charged to fulfill by God was originally to begin on the Christian foundation, prepared for the Lord of the Second Advent after the death of Jesus. Although rooted in a spiritual, religious core value system based upon True Love and a theology centered upon universal salvation through faith in Jesus. Christianity expanded to the level of nations and the world, touching upon the religious as well as the political, economic, media, academia and social-cultural spheres, becoming the cornerstone of the modem word. In other words, the Christian foundation, which Father was to stand upon, represented the world in 1945. After the Second World War, the United States, representing the Christian world, became the only super-power in the world and, shortly thereafter, initiated the formation of the United Nations. This was before the rise of atheistic communism on the worldwide stage and the beginning of the Cold War. However, Christianity was not able to receive the returning Lord and Father had no choice but to enter the course in the wilderness and create a separate foundation, the Unification Church, in its place in order to move providence forward..
Being the central person in God's providence, Father needed to establish a spiritual root to the movement to restore God's original dream so it was natural to establish the Unification Church when the Christian foundation failed to receive Parents. Yet, upon entering the Age After the Corning of Heaven, we have entered into an age where our movement has to work beyond just the religious field into all the other spheres such as politics. academia, media etc., especially if we are to eventually restore and find a nation and, more importantly, legitimize the Abel UN. Father, we stand today at the critical juncture of history very similar to the prepared foundation of Christianity in 1945. You were never meant to be "just" a "religious leader" but the King of Heaven and Earth just as Jesus was never meant to be the founder of Christianity but a divine son who tried to fulfill the dream of God. Had he accomplished this mission he would have become the King of Heaven and Earth, moving human history toward the direction of God s ideal Kingdom of Heaven. I believe this is the true meaning behind your declaration of the Age of Cheon Il Guk and the formation of the Abel UN.
However, our movement has misrepresented Fathers work by validating the false perception that Parents are the founder of a new religion and are narrowly focused on furthering the aims of the Unification Church. More importantly, the Divine Principle, which you gleaned through the study and communion with God's Created Universe and through direct revelation are misunderstood, not only by our movement but those in the Cain-type world, as the specific doctrine or theology of the Unification Church. I have been trying to correct this misperception over the last ten years, facing the greatest resistance from our own leaders who naively thought they were protecting and maintaining Father's legacy. In other words, they were unwilling and unable to come out of their 'Unificationist's skin." They did not realize that Father's legacy should be so much more nor did they understand the course of providential history. But, Heavenly Father was there to always counsel and consoles me. He made me realize that I had to pioneer this path in order for the correct legacy to be inherited by the True Family and the Second Generation, the fruits of God's blessing.
I know that I have not been good at reporting to Father but I knew if I spoke of such things it could have been misunderstood. I have always believed that God will reveal the truth through time since He is the force moving through providence and, therefore, continued in the work He charged me to do. I am glad to report that, through the International Leadership Conferences (ILC), our leaders are beginning to realize the potential of our movement to work on a totally new level than before. I know that much of that is due to the blood. sweat and tears of Parent's foundational work but another par, of it is through representing Parents in the appropriate light as the owners of Gods dream to create one human family-One Family Under God. This new direction is in alignment with providential Will since it correctly represents Father as the King of Heaven and Earth by being the true owner of God's dream and it correctly sets the issue of legacy and inheritance for the second and subsequent generations. In other words, what the future generations of Blessed Central Families should be are the true owners of God's dream of creating "One Family Under God." In addition, it correctly establishes the Divine Principle as the universal, absolute divinely-inspired truths, standing above the realm of theology and tradition, which can ultimately be the basis upon which the world's religions and people of faith can come together to realize tie dream of creating 'One Family Under God.`
Although, I created the ILC to educate the leadership of the Cain-type world, I am glad to report that its greatest impact is among our own Blessed Central Families. Many have mentioned that for the first time our movement has a clarity of direction and purpose, inspiring those who have drifted away or who were 'sitting on the sidelines' to be reengaged in God's providence. This momentum is now being felt throughout our worldwide movement. Our Ambassadors for Peace are even more energized and have made greater levels of commitment to further our work in their respective nations. Most importantly, the Cain-type world is beginning to understand and appreciate the true purpose of Father's mission and works.
Starting in 2006.I began creating the foundation for the creation of the Global Peace Festivals through the ILCs and through Youth Federation for World Peace (YFWP). We actually started to roll these festivals out in 2007 by launching the first event in front of the Capital building in Seoul, Korea, during the World Culture and Sports Festival (WCSF).This event set the precedence for a new relationship with the Korean media, especially "new media." and with various other 'partners' who were committed to the vision of creating One Family Under God. Later, we held these festivals throughout Europe and culminated in the Philippines, where more than 250.000 young people and all the dignitaries and VIPs of islands were gathered. By any measurable standard it was an unprecedented event and a great success for God's providence as the message of One Family Under God was received and owned by all those who participated in the festival.
However, holding a great festival is not the sole purpose of the Global Peace Festival (GPF). The true purpose is aligned to providential Will in eradicating Satan's lineage through the expansion of the Blessing ideal and through mainstreaming the global peace vision of creating One Family Under God, especially in these troubled times where a potential religious conflict is imminent. The vehicle in which these festivals will be expanded throughout the globe is through partnerships where our partners firmly own the peace vision of One Family Under God and are willing to commit their own resources to help realize this dream. Already, I'm sure Father has already heard, in the Philippines. 90% of the total $4,000,000.00 plus cost was paid by our partners and they are even more committed to the upcoming event in 2008. This level of commitment was unprecedented, yet establishes the real basis in which God's great dream could be realized by 2012.
As Father can see, I have been leading the Unification Movement in a clear methodical manner, aligned to the providence of God and your legacy, and it is now bearing fruit. It was my hope and desire to offer the GPF to Parents after the Philippines event so that this great victory could set the stage for this historical year of 2008, which represents the first step forward into creating the world of Cheon Il Guk.
Therefore, I would like to explain in detail how we must re-align the culture of Blessed Families and the Unification Movement as a whole.
1) First; repositioning the Family Federation for World Peace and our Blessed Family Culture.
As I explained previously, the true legacy of Parents is being the owners of God's original dream and, therefore, it is the mission of the Blessed Central Families to be its owners as well, especially if we are to be the true heirs of Parent's legacy. It is important to note that there is a providential, historical imperative with this charge that can not be realized with the establishment of a mere church. However, for many Blessed Central Families, their life of 'faith' was molded by the experiences of the Wilderness Period centered upon the Unification Church With a narrow viewpoint rooted in these experiences, many Blessed Families have not been able to see the true legacy and ultimate mission of Parents in its entirety. As a result, a true family tradition rooted in the dream of creating One Family Under God has not emerged, leaving our families without providential purpose or mission orientation.
The reason our Family Federation foundation has stagnated is due directly to this fact. It lost its "providential mission focus" as it transformed its skin to reflect more mainline established churches. Unfortunately, different from Fathers original expectation, the Family Federation, which should have represented our transformation in the other direction toward a broader movement surpassing the religious spheres to all areas of human endeavor centered upon the family, went backwards to ´ consciously copy the failing methods and strictures of the mainline Christian Churches. In other words we became a church, focused on 'ministry to our congregations' instead of being a providential movement fulfilling the dream of God. As all things are connected, this led the Cain-type world to view all our efforts to lead them toward God's dream as self-serving and a direct threat to their faith traditions. As they saw it, we were a church and Divine Principle our particular theology which was in direct competition with them and therefore they attacked us. I know that is not what Father intended nor wanted. However, this has been our enduring 'false" legacy up until now.
Even more disturbing, our Blessed Central Families lost their sense of providential mission focus as the 'institution" of the church became the center of their lives of faith. God has been moving humanity to realize One Family Under God, where mankind doesn't need institutions, religious or otherwise, to be a conduit in which He could freely commune with them. That is why Father instructed the formation of the Hoon Dok Family cell church providence to begin upon the creation of the FFWP. But, once again, we did not align to this direction rooted in providential purpose and maintained the current existing foundations. As a result, a culture rooted in a sense of purpose and mission has been lost and a culture of mere survival and comfortable coexistence has emerged. More importantly, how could the Blessed Central Families, who should be the true heirs of Parent's legacy of creating One Family Under God, realize their providential responsibilities if they do not align themselves with the direction of providence and not with an institution? What about the True Family? Are we helping this confusion and lack of focus and direction or are we leading in the right direction? Are we to establish an institution or fulfill the dream of God?!!!
After being appointed the International Vice President of the Family Federation in 1998, I clarified, Parents´ legacy and providential mission and emphasized that all Blessed Families were extended members of the True Family. I have guided Blessed Families to align to the Vertical Axial line of God-True-Parents-True-Family and to live as owners of the Culture of Heart by focusing on the providential mission of realizing the dream of God.
It is important to note that this Culture of Heart be rooted in a God-centric love focused on his original purpose of realizing One Family Under God and not a humanistic-type of love which seeks to maintain co-existence and is without purpose. As I visited the field, although I know the suffering and often miserable state of our members, I encouraged them to work harder for the fulfillment of God's dream because I know it is the only way our Blessed Central Families could be truly liberated and inherit the 'true' legacy of Parents, especially at this critical juncture of providence. I have urgently tried to convey, to them that we stand at a 'tipping point' where our efforts could change the tide of history to align with the Will of God. For this could be a time of great leadership and self-sacrifice for a greater prize to be had in the future or, at the same time, could be a time of appeasement and self interest to maintain our current foundation and forever doomed to be a pariah, lost without direction in other words shall we lead the world back to God or shall we forever remain a cult or new religion? No matter where I remain, whenever I ask our members this question, they answer with a resounding yes to "Lead the world back to God." Therefore, I know that our Blessed Central Families Still have the ideal, visionary desire to fulfill the Will of God but they have been terribly misled, misguided and misdirected, and frankly misused.
Father, the problem was not with our members but our leaders. Our Blessed Families still recognize and have a desire to be aligned to God's providence, but our church leaders, especially in the FFWPU, want them to be members of their church congregations very similar to mainline Christian Churches. In the end, both the church leader and the congregation looses sight of the larger providential purpose for becoming a Blessed Central Family in the first place and focus on maintaining one's daily life and most of all "their" congregation. In other words a life which could have been devoted to the greatest of purposes -- the realization of God's dream -- becomes trivialized to the point of daily survival.
As an elder brother, how can I stand idle and let this go on? That is why I have challenged our leaders not only to rethink their lives or faith but also how they have "led" our members to this point and how they have used their 'authority' over the lives of our Blessed Central Families. I am glad to report that dramatic changes have happened in those nations were the leadership of the FFWPU has heeded my call to refocus our movement to the providential rather than ministerial leadership paradigm centered upon building One Family Under God. In America, Japan, Europe. Southeast Asia and Northeast continent and now Latin America, our Blessed Families are on fire with a clear purpose and great sense of mission.
However, Korea, the central nation, of God's providence, where the root of our movement lies, is not only maintaining but actually leading our Blessed Families in the opposite direction. That is why although we have the greatest internal foundation our movement has stagnated over the last 10 plus years. Father, this is where our movement's problems persist and multiply. I humbly suggest you look into the matter and give it serious consideration. Given the Important providential age and the need to urgently move forward, it is more important than ever to align our Blessed Central Families to the peace vision of One Family Under God so that they may become its true inheritors and substantiate Parents legacy. Our Blessed Families need a forward-looking vision and direction toward the dream of building One Family Under God.
As we move toward the ultimate goal of realizing One Family Under God, a true culture of heart centered upon God and not humanistic tendencies needs to arise. Until this problem is resolved. I am saddened to state that we cannot move forward.
2) Second, UPF and the Abel UN, Owning the Global Interfaith Movement centered on the vision of "One Family Under God"
Father, you were a visionary when you first founded the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in that your message was not only inter-denominational, as the name limply suggests, but inter-religious as well. At a time when most religious leaders were focusing upon growing their own denomination and faith traditions and most did not even know or not endorse an inter-denominational or inter-religious message, you were the lone voice that called for the people of faith, regardless of their faith traditions, to come together centered upon absolute values derived from divine, immutable principles. You have stayed true to that call and the world finally caught up.
It is important to note that your inter-faith message is different from others who eventually jumped upon the inter-religious bandwagon. Others have professed the need to "tolerate and peacefully co-exist" with those of other faith tradition, practicing their customs together and establishing fellowship. However, this approach, although establishing a veneer of peaceful co-existence, is a band-aid solution since those elements such as theology and tradition which define so many religions today are still intact as the dominant source of spiritual education. So, although one may worship together one still believes in the tenets that divide and factionalize the human family of faith, Needless to say, many of these tenets came after the death of the founders in the form of theology and religious tradition and in many ways distorted the original message of its founders.
Your approach has been very different. Instead of focusing upon theology and religious tradition, you focused upon the absolute, universal truths which God adhered to from the beginning of human creation to the present day. That revelation, allowed you to see that God moved throughout all the Great Faiths and thus his fingerprints like DNA were embedded in the values of all the great religious traditions. This focus on shared principles deriving from a common divine heritage has been the primary approach to your inter-faith vision and has been carried out to great success in the ILS over the last year.
However, like all things, our movement did not know nor recognize this important and very critical difference in your inter-faith message and, up until the end of 2006, followed the established trends in inter-religious activities with little to show for. I am glad to report that, slowly all the major leaders inside and outside of our movement are beginning to recognize the difference and are beginning to see the great opportunity to lead the global inter-faith movement which has always been Father's unfulfilled dream. As I reported to Father in my last report I have guided UTS to be the academic vanguard, in spreading this vision and would like to align our Sun Moon Theological School and the Chung Shim Theological School to follow suit. But more importantly, I have been leading UPF, as the foundation for the Abel UN, to own this inter-faith perspective and brand it uniquely to our work.
Father, I know that it was your desire to see this inter-faith vision realized when you made the proposal for the inter-religious council to be established in the UN. Nevertheless, the UN, being an atheistic institution unrepresentative of the world's theistic population, has not fully supported this bold initiative. But, God moves in mysterious ways and in one sense it was good that the Cain-UN did not take ownership over this vision. With the creation of UPF and the formation of the Abel UN, our Unification Movement has the vehicle to lead the global inter-faith movement. As we position UPF to own the global inter-faith initiative centered upon the dream of creating One Family Under God given the current state of global crisis rooted in a potential conflict amongst faiths. UPF's unique perspective of inter-faith will be highlighted for all the word to see. Most importantly, the world will also know where this vision originated.
Once again, there are tremendous possibilities if we are to move in this obvious Providential direction. However, things never seem to be that simple. Although the Cheon Il Guk Year of Jubilee is a time when God's dream is inherited and we move toward bearing fruits, the same issue I raised easier is holding our forward momentum. For, how can we be the leaders of a new inter-faith movement based upon "shared principles" if we are one of many churches? More importantly, if these shared principles are the Divine Principle, then, how could it be the theology of one religion? The Divine Principle should stand above the realm of theology to the level of universal absolute divine truths which a person of any faith could own as the basis of his/her own values.
As I educate religious leaders, I emphasize that we, as religious leaders are the problem for we have lost sight of God's original ideal of building One Family Under God. Instead, we focus on enlarging our own denominational and faith foundations and falsely think that we are the servants of God's Will. Then I explain that your founders, let them be Jesus or Mohammad, never taught of establishing another faith tradition but were furthering Gods providence to ultimately realize the dream of creating One Family Under God. This fundamental message attired the hearts of these lofty religious figures to rethink, not only their own life's mission but what it truly meant to serve God and humanity. No one, could deny the truth of this message nor its implications for world peace and that is the reason for their renewed interest of our movement's activities. That is why I reported to Father after the first mega-church tour that we have the foundational vision to lead all the great religions. I believe the mega-church phenomenon in the US has been cultivated by Heaven for such a vision, since the original Christian message was universal in spirit. Right now, these churches are leading the Christian reformation in America and the world and if we can lead this change centered upon this vision I'm sure greater blessing will be realized.
In order for our movement and the Blessed Central Families to actualize the blessings of this age and realize the dream of creating One Family Under God, we must set the precedence as Father has continually taught to breakdown the walls dividing the human family, especially the religious walls. That is why it has been a mystery to me that there are those who continually cling onto the institution of the Unification Church, thinking they are realizing Heaven's and Father's original purpose. Entering this age, we must reposition the culture of the Blessed Families and at the same time, reposition our entire Unification Movement. We should breakdown the walls of religion, especially or own walls, and take on the challenge of a true inter-faith, movement that could unite the body of faith throughout the world centered upon the peace vision of creating One Family Under God, rather than trying to protect and grow the institution of the Unification Church. If we do, then, naturally, the world would recognize Parents as the ones who transcended religion and lived to fulfill the dream of God and all humanity. In addition, the Divine Principle would be perceived not as the theology of one religion but as the universal principles which came as a revelation from God and are the fundamental truths embedded in the teaching of all religions.
Parents' worldwide interfaith movement must, in the end, bear fruit in Korea, since Korea is a religiously plural nation. The power of this global interfaith movement will not only be the basis of uniting the many religious faiths on the peninsula but would be the force that protects South Korea from any atheistic influences as the nation moves toward reunification with the North. The current mindset of our leaders in Korea of competing against Korean Christianity by creating a mega-church foundation of our own is childish and myopic. In the end we need to absorb and digest those Korean Christians like I am doing with the American mega-churches. The reason I am approaching them is not to create a mega-church for myself but to lead them to a greater vision that is aligned to the mission of Jesus and all greater religious founders' efforts to realize God's dream of creating One Family Under God. This dream is bigger and more powerful than any Church for it is rooted in God and not a human institution.
If, however. Korean Christianity remains narrow-minded and self-serving. Then, it will be isolated from the greater community of faith and crumble from within. Just, as we are breaking down the doors of the mega-churches in America. Korean Christians in the end must support the Providence of God. For this our entire movement has to break down the walls of religion by first coming out of our 'church' skin and lead a larger inter-faith movement to bring about world peace and realize the dream of One Family Under God, laying the foundation for the Era of the Pacific Rim and Cheon II Guk
3) Third, Building the UPF brand and a Global Peace Movement through Focused Strategy, Integration, Cooperation, Coordination and Teamwork
Centered upon the umbrella organization of UPF, all the major providential organizations should be subordinate and align their activities and initiatives according to the global goals and aims of UPF. This will include all the Peace Federations, such as the FFWP YFWP, WFWP, etc as well as other providential organizations actively employed as an affiliated organization of the Unification movement. This issue becomes even more serious as we are to engage our Ambassadors for Peace and outside partners to play a larger role in fulfilling our providential objectives. Since we are looked upon as all being part of the same group by the Cain-type world for our various parts to have a separate heads and directions is both foolish and irresponsible. It is absolutely important for us to create a clear line of command and structure of authority as well as be aligned to one clear purpose and direction. In addition, each nation or region should not be allowed to choose their own strategic objectives although they should have clear autonomy or, tactical initiatives to fulfill globally agreed-upon goals.
In this age of the global economy and the internet, national and regional boundaries are no longer impediments to organizational development and therefore should not hinder larger goals. This really is such that all globally-inclined organizations in both the for-profit and not-for-profit fields have already made the necessary adjustments to deal with a technologically and geographically smaller world. We need to do the same if UPF, as the flagship of our peace movement, is to secure a recognizable, clear and enduring brand identity. As I have mentioned above. I propose that UPF own the inter-faith field centered upon the peace vision of creating One Family Under God. However, organizationally, it has to have the structure to enforce and lead all our other efforts to be in alignment with its stated mission and objectives, especially since these other activities would shine either positively or negatively to UPF.
As the co-chair of UPF, I have made great strides in aligning all entire activities center upon three strategic initiatives which Father has instructed our movement to complete. The first is North-South Korean Reunification. The second is Middle-East Peace Initiative (MEPI) and the third is the UN's Millennium Development Goals (MDG). I have guided our international movement and all providential organizations to support these three major activities. It is these three areas that will have the most decisive role in realizing world peace and in having UPF officially recognized by the UN and the world. Once again, we need to bring together all the providential organizations that have been scattered until now to focus on common global, strategic objectives and organizationally center on UPF. the Abel UN I know that this is what Father envisioned upon creating UPF and with your blessing and support I know, that this could be accomplished in short order
However, through meetings with the Regional Chairs and Providential Organization leaders centered on UPF, I have been emphasizing this and working to realize this.
4) Fourth, Building a Global Economic Engine centered upon the
Very much like the need to organizationally build a global movement centered upon UPF, the international Foundation (IF) should also consolidate all of our for-profit activities worldwide. From the purely strategic perspective of supporting UPF, an equal global organization with the explicit purpose of financially supporting UPF is needed. Without it, UPF and all its providential activities will not be sustainable. For this very reason, I believe Father gave me the charge to create the IF, based upon the already existing foundation of the Unification Church International (UCI). Although UCI has some benefits, eventually, we will need to create a true IF which truly manages and controls all our business and for-profit activities. Once again, all national and regional economic foundations should become subordinate to the authority and management of the IF. In addition, clear controls and lines of authority should be established and legally supported so that organizational structures, guidelines and policies can be maintained.
As Father is well aware, money and the power garnered from controlling its use and disbursement is a powerful tool which could subvert, cajole and even threaten the recipient not for-profit organizations to succumb to the will of narrow-minded or providentially-uninformed money men. Therefore, to make sure that the Foundation does not lead our providential organizations and reverse the 'right ' order, controls of oversight and an independent committee on funding grievances needs to be established so that providential money is not used for personal gain or undue influence.
In short, the businesses that were established with a providential purpose cannot be separated from the non-profit sector. Therefore, they must align to the overall international providential direction and must fulfill their mission to support UPF, the Abel UN, and its peace movement and educational institutions. In order to fulfill their providential purpose, … should manage all the existing individual … businesses:, property and economic foundations that we have invested in, in accordance with the nations and international regulations. It also has the responsibility to economically support the world's providential activities. Moreover, … should fulfill the function of guiding and auditing the financial operations and management of the providential organizations and key providential activities according to their Providential value and strategic priority. One of the most important missions of …, is to create a worldwide economic foundation that can be self-sustaining and support providential activities without depending on Japan as soon as possible. The and key businesses of Korea, Japan, America and each nation throughout the world and the key providential activities must respect this role and mission of … and must move with the same ownership over the world's providence following the basic direction.
Dear Parents,
I have already been investing my utmost for the past 10 years to create a Blessed Family culture and Unification Movement foundation that could take the lead at this historic moment, in order to fulfill our stated goals by January 13, 2013 and beyond.
I thank you for your attention and I apologize for the length and level of detail in this letter. I, personally, prefer short and concise reports, however, in the case of this report, although it seems lengthy. I had to leave a lot of content out to summarize the core message for new direction in order to realize the blessings of this age I thought that it was especially important to convey "why" I came to move in this direction and 'how' important it was to maintain this direction. I told Father at the end of last year that the future of our movement and our family rests on the 'direction' that we take today for we stand at a crossroads.
Father, as a son, I have never wanted anything from you but to aid you on your life's mission. I know that that attitude must have led to many misunderstandings and even a feeling that I was arrogant and unappreciative of your work. This could not be further from the truth. Living in an environment where people will say what they do not mean as well as embellish and distort the truth to curry favor from you had, in my youthful sense of principled idealism, led me to do the exact opposite of what I had despised. As a result, I had often, been too honest and too blunt, often hurting you and creating undo anxiety for myself. I know now that truth and honesty is important but that in familial relationships the sword of self-righteousness needs to be sheathed in understanding and patience.
Father, your example has taught me much. Standing at my vantage point today you, of all people, should have questioned why I came back from the proverbial mountaintop and reengaged in my public mission. In 2005, after Father had given directions in the beginning of the year, I know in my heart that I had lost the strength and desire to continue in my work, knowing all to well the problems which would arise. Because I knew the realty of my own family all too well, I was most concerned about the thin veneer of credibility which limit our family as being the model True Family, especially when presented upon a public stage. I had committed my entire public ministry up until that point in educating and guiding our Blessed Central Families on the importance of True Family and, now, before I even had a chance to care for and educate my own siblings, we were going to be presented to the world with all of our flaws.
Knowing the factional political inner workings of our movement's Korean leadership all to well I knew it would be a matter of time before those elements infect our family. As 'birds of a feather flock together' and "water seeks the paths of least resistance," I knew it would be a matter of time before the existing dividing lines in our movement formed within my family as people of similar interests ally with each other to attain common goals. To me, this was an anathema to the ideal of the True Family. I had not found God in self-serving, political processes or systems but through seeking Him out at my moments of desolation and despair. It has always been in Creation, my 'true church,' where I could directly experience His presence in me and guide me to see the path that I must take. It was there, in the mountains of Alaska, where God told me to return and aid you: for, He said you needed my help more than anytime before.
However, when I came back, the situation was worse than I could have ever imagined. The work I sought to carry out thereafter was misunderstood and even I, myself was misunderstood within my family. False perceptions were construed to be reality and I have been the victim of accusations ranging from my trying to control everything out of greed without consideration of my family to my collusion with the people around me. My brothers unite around these groundless fabrications and I became perplexed at times when it seemed Parents heart wavered and accepted these accusations. Without giving it any more consideration than this garbage is due. I would like to say that these accusations are a sign of the accusers' total ignorance about my history and my character. Although it may seem that people change with age, people's innate characters do not change but becomes tempered with life experience. That young boy, which Father acknowledged, who volunteered to stay behind to let his other siblings go out on the boat with Parents in Chung Pyung more than 35 years ago is the same man that those lies have been thrust upon.
Father, without a common purpose and direction rooted in Providential Will, this confusion will persist into the future generations. I have honestly told Parents this many times in the past. Like the inter-faith example I gave earlier to distinguish your perspective of inter-faith with others. I explained that others who tackled this issue settled upon the 'band-aid' solution of Peaceful co-existence although fundamentally all the different faiths still clung to their dividing doctrines and traditions. While on the other hand, your vision of inter-faith is different. You focused upon the "shared principles' which came from God and not a humanly contrived state of detente. I believe this analogy holds true in the case of our family. The only way true unity can come about is through recognizing Father's "true" legacy and inheriting the dream which had been the driving force behind your colorful life. I have always believed that God's dream, which you had brought to light through the Principe of Creation, should be the guiding light not only for our movement but especially our family. Being members of your immediate family doesn't automatically mean we have become the True Family. Just as you had to toil under immense scrutiny and hardship to earn the right to obtain the authority of being a True Parent, so do we have to raise ourselves to become the True Family that God and humanity would like to see.
Father, don't worry about me. No matter what difficulties and defamation obstruct the path that I have chartered, my determination and life course for Father and God's Will, will continue. I want to assure you that Father, your dream and your legacy will continue will continue to flower throughout the world through us. I believe that God moves in mysterious ways, for, you had once told me how important it was to have Father and Son cooperation, during these final days of Providence. I did not understand it then but through all this I understand it now. You had taught that Satan stole three positions of authority in Adam's family -- the position of elder son, of parents and of kingship. In doing so, he robbed Gods authority over lineage and the inter-generational relationship between father and son. In order, to restore this ideal you had wanted me to be in absolute alignment with you ever since you gave me my public mission. However, although I had sensed this, I did not truly "know" until now. I have only Heavenly Father to thank for this realization and your eternal understanding and patience. Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration. I will strive to become a filial son who can bring solace to Parents.
