16. Ideal Human Condition

What would you like me to talk about today? Many suggestions came in: Father son relationships, talk about Mother's speaking tour, Father in Kodiak, Hyun Jin Nim's testimony and learning at the limits of endurance.

The Human Condition

All your questions deal with the human condition. Animals do not ask these kind of questions. They have no idea of what's going on. Why did you come here today? What am I getting at? You are all human beings and all the questions you have asked are related to your being.

Every discipline of life is trying to understand the human condition. Whether it's economics, science, culture, religion or economics, all are seeking for answers about the human condition.

Why do economics work? Because people have a self-interest to become rich. But can you take your money to the Spirit World? We are seeking higher goals. We have an original mind and we strive for truth and knowledge of God.

A Landmark Year

This year, 1992 is a landmark year, a year of reaping the harvest. The sons and daughters of the True Parents must be responsible to reap that harvest. After the Olympics in Barcelona I had a chance to visit many European Churches. I was so amazed of what I saw. Father has laid an incredible foundation everywhere. God created man a conscious, creative being. Why? God created everything in subject and object relationships and man was to be the object of God's love, life and lineage. Man is the temple of God and nothing in the creation compares to man. Man seeks a vertical relationship with God. The potential of the Kingdom of God is in us but it was not established. Why?

The Fall of Man caused man's ignorance about God and himself. Now we must make a conscious effort to return to God. God has given us a free will and by our free will we must find God and unite with Him. Our conscience is the force that motivates the will and the will moves our body. A perfect man is moved by God' will alone. We are not a Christian movement, they believe that just having faith in Jesus is enough to get to the Kingdom. The Divine Principle instills action in man's life. And we must have absolute faith in the DP and True Parents. Adam and Eve did not have faith in God.

How can humanity be raised up to a higher level? Unless there is new and higher input it can not take place. Spirit World inspires people to a higher way of thinking. Our intellect connects to the spiritual sense.

When I look at you I see many different people from all over the world including all races. I also see many different levels of faith and standards of life. In the ideal family there is only one standard. Your conscience should always lead you in the right direction. I came here to unite your conscience with the True Parents.

You can not compromise the Divine Principle and True Parents standard. You sometimes do things that are directly against the Will of God and still you say that you are the son or daughter of God.

Ignorance Is No Excuse

You can not find freedom and happiness in this fallen world no matter what you try. Only God can give you stability through absolute attendance, sacrifice and devotion. Since you met True Parents have you made a radical change in your life? Only you can be the judge of that but you can no longer make excuses and claim ignorance.

You must absolutely get your priorities right. This is a critical and momentous year. We must truly unite with True Parents. Jesus could not find anyone to unite with him. John the Baptist was the greatest failure. In 1985 the foundation of restoration was fulfilled and now in 1992, seven years later, everything has been fulfilled.

Now that everything has been fulfilled, what are you going to do? Are you going to go the way of John the Baptist? You are definitely involved in this providence. What is the meaning of Tribal Messiah ship and the Blessing? You must have a deep understanding of this.

God has never been able to rejoice about the birth of any of the children that were born after the fall. He could only grieve, knowing the difficulties the children would have growing up in satan's world. Heavenly Father poured out his heart to bring His children out of the realm of satan.

Your Blessing is now the greatest testimony of True Parents' and God's victory. Now finally He can claim your children. However, this is not the end. What does it mean to have blessed children and raise a family? You are the building blocks of restoration and the builders of the Kingdom of God. However, the Kingdom must pass through the proper tradition.

Adam and Eve fell even though they were born without original sin. What about your children? You must raise them well according to the Heavenly Tradition. It is important that you pass this tradition on to your children. Your children are your legacy and you will be judged by what kind of children you leave behind.

Pass On The True Tradition

You must inherit and pass on the tradition of True Love and Sacrifice. That is most important for you, your children and your lineage. Your ancestors brought you here and you must be grateful to them.

Focusing on making money will separate you from your No. 1 priority to establish the Kingdom of God. How many wives stay home with the children? Raise your hands.

You all were front-line members at one time but just because you are married and have children you loose your priorities. You must give your children a piece of God's Kingdom. Those of you who will not loose your right priorities will truly be blessed by God. So as a family do not loose the priorities of God and you will be able to show your children the Kingdom.

The tradition of Heaven must become a part of your life. Don't teach your children false priorities. Teach them the proper tradition but not just by your word. You must teach them through your life, through your actions. You must emulate True Parents.

Those who missed 5:00 am pledge at least once, raise your hands (many). Father is giving you physical conditions so that you can come to the zero point and face satan with more confidence. Father does not need these conditions, He is doing this for you. Satan always wants to put you down and he loves mediocrity. Now you have the opportunity to go for the best and you certainly deserve the best.

Evaluate Your Situation

Father has been speaking here for the last 19 years. Did you fully accept Father's words? Take a look at yourself and honestly evaluate your situation. If you had listened to Father this nation would not be in the shape it is in now. But you just could not receive Father's words.

Father took on this country all by Himself. He made all kinds of physical conditions even going to prison to effect spiritual growth. Father really sacrificed His life for you expressing His fatherly heart. If you ignore Father's sacrificial way of life and do not listen to Him and follow him, then you are almost spitting in His face. I can not and will not tolerate that. You should not tolerate it either. You must establish and unshakable tradition.

Sunday morning pledge and Sunday Service are most important in that tradition. Educate your children well so that they will not be influenced by outside pressures. Assess and re-assess your situation and make constant conditions to defeat satan. Make prayer and fasting conditions to help you eliminate bad habits.

You must learn to pray unselfishly. Pray to understand Father's needs and live to fulfill those needs. You must get a true perspective of who you are in relationship to God. Make conditions to purify your hearts. You deserve the best. Some of you are having doubts that you can actually be the best. But if you have the confidence and conviction than you will be successful and shape history. You have infinite potential.

Re-assess your life and dedicate your life again. How long have I been speaking? Not long enough! My words are not easy to listen to but I am speaking to liberate you form your shackles. My prayer is that my words will address and draw out your infinite capacity and potential.

Satan will always tell you that you have no value and that you can not do anything. But we must have the faith that we can achieve the highest goals.

Father wants to bless 360 000 couples in three years. How many people will you bring to the Blessing?

Put Your House In Order

You must put your house in order. Unless you do that you can not really preach or teach the Principle to anyone. If you want to change the world you first must drastically change your lives. Father blessed you so that you could dedicate your family to God. Here lies the deepest meaning of life..."the dedication of your family to God!"

Then you can save humanity and your lineage. Pass down your total devotion to your child and do not worry about the physical factors, they will be taken care off. Your purity is of utmost importance and necessity. Don't even think immoral thoughts even that will influence your children negatively.

Satan will always try to de-value you. Please absorb the words that I am speaking to you. When you do, your conscious will move your will and your will gets your body moving. That must be your only desire. This is the true reality of life.

I have the opportunity to meet the richest people in the world through my horseback riding. Believe me they are not happy people. Looking at material wealth is not reality. I went to Czechoslovakia after Barcelona and spoke to brothers and sisters there. I was very much moved by their purity and innocence. Their perception of the True Parents and Family was so moving to me.

They were very disciplined and listened well. I had not seen such a level of discipline before. The Western members do not have the level of discipline of the oriental members. One percent of the oriental members break their Blessings, whereas five percent of the western members break their Blessing.

Oriental members have better tradition and discipline in a pure way. They can truly unite and work together well. You western members think they are loosing their individuality. But you must realize that individual identity is defined in relationship to the whole.

Compare a Japanese car maker with an American car maker. The Japanese are able to get new technology on the market after two years. It takes the Americans four years. The power lies in working together united as one, for one purpose, the company. Americans who are much more individualistic do not care so much about their company or the purpose of the whole.

Religious Liberator

Some of you think that I am too subjective. Religious leaders in the past have been skinny people, meek and mild mannered and with soft voices like Tyler Hendrix. But now we live in the age of the True Parents and we do not fit the stereo type of religion. We have come to liberate.

Do not judge True Family through your own limited perception. We have so many problems in our Church because you do not understand. Do not be judgmental, rather be open to receive the members of the True Family who are in the Direct Dominion.

The position of subject is always to uplift. God set that tradition. He did this first. That's the expression of True Love. Father always gives and uplifts even when He is in prison. Don't do satan's work, don't do evil because of ignorance. You and your family and God deserve more than mediocrity. You must adhere to the basic traditions that Father has set up.

Pledge at 5:00 am and Sunday Service. Don't lower your standard to the outside world. Think about the Japanese Brothers and Sisters who are suffering to financially maintain this movement. Have you cried for them? The ones that are more responsible will have to carry the load that are not. You must be more responsible if you want to save America. You must do that to alleviate the suffering of the Japanese Brothers and Sisters. You must put this into your mind, to alleviate the suffering of your Brothers and Sisters.

Brothers must become ideal sons, ideal brothers, ideal husbands and ideal fathers. Sisters must become ideal daughters, ideal sisters, ideal wives and ideal mothers. I have spoken now for almost three hours and I think you have heard enough today. Husband and Wife and children, the whole family must rededicate and inherit the tradition of True Parents. Re-assess the meaning of Messiah ship and be responsible. Those who pledge to make a new commitment raise your hands. Lets pray.

15. The Nature of True Love

Good Morning. Is there anything you would like me to speak about? It was a spur of the moment decision to come to speak to you. You should be able make a new conviction by yourself. As a member of the True Family my heart is always with you, my mind always comes to you. In that way, even though our parents are not here with us, we should always feel that close bond. It should be so natural. That type of bond that always seeks your other brother and sister. That is the nature of true love. We struggle how to substantiate that love. What kind of instrument, what kind of foundation do I need to establish that kind of love. Some of you wrote letters to me, I know that inside you have many questions. It is very difficult to put Principle into reality. We are attracted to it because it is true, but it is hard to substantiate it. What do we have to do to substantiate it?

First we have to have a new perspective. All throughout fallen history everything in a way has been false, because it was centered on an unidealistic standard. That was the tradition of fallen man, this is the tradition you were raised in and you have intimate knowledge about this. Not only lineage is important, not only blood, but the spiritual lineage and the tradition are also essential. True Father has created this new tradition.

As a brother you have to be an ideal son, an ideal brother, and ideal husband and an ideal father. As a sister you have to be an ideal daughter, an ideal sister, an ideal wife and an ideal mother.

Spiritual grafting should be just like physical grafting, you have to receive everything, all the elements. You should not think, "I don't want to have ascertain kind of nutrient." To be engrafted you have to take on everything. This is why perspective is so important. Spring is a time of new beginning. Many of you have walked difficult courses until now. By seeing the world around you may become disillusioned with the world; the principle and reality seem so different. This is because you have not made a clear break from the past.

To achieve the position of an ideal man you have to die a thousand deaths. An ideal is an absolute thing. But the process of how we understand knowledge is through experience. Why is the world messed up? Why does a child touch a burning match even though it is told not to? The truth that a parent tells a child doesn't belong to the child until the child experiences himself. Perspective, perspective, perspective. Right now True Father has given you the tools to make any kind of foundation. A body builder needs good nutrients as his foundation. If I drew a painting, and asked you to give me your interpretation and asked ten people, I would get ten answers. What is the right perspective? If you wanted to unite with my perspective, you would have to see the painting through my eyes. When Father sees the world, yes he sees the division and struggle, but he also sees absolute hope. Why is it that we struggle seeing the same reality? Why? Our perspective is wrong.

A child is new when it come into the world. You as adopted sons and daughters have your own perspectives already. Engrafting is like a rebirth process, you have to get rid of everything. That is the condition we tried to set at the first of April. What is it that allowed True Parents to overcome all these obstacles: the failure of Christianity, the failure of Korea, many times being incarcerated? He knew that he came to be the ideal parent, yet he was pushed into the lowest position. This started happening to Father when he was 24 years old. What gave him the strength to continue? Father saw the world with the eyes of God.

An ideal son wants to be a reflection of his parents. The reasons Adam and Eve had to fulfill this responsibility on their own, is because they could then be a true reflection of an ideal man and wife. This is why True Parenthood is so important, on this foundation a true lineage could be established. As sons and daughters we want to reflect and inherit this standard. How many of you are blessed? How many have children? You can learn a lot from you children.

When your son asks. "What is this? What is that?" They are trying to learn everything. They are being raised up through this process. Coming into the ideal tradition you have to always fight within yourself. Even the True Family had to struggle, because we were raised in this fallen world.

The second condition, is our individual commitment. Only upon realizing your individuality you understand this commitment. As a young child, there was no

distinction between male and female. But as you grew older, as you became a teen, you realized "I am not made for myself." Man is made for woman and woman for man. Based on understanding your own individuality, as man and woman, you see that you need each other.

Even in the outside world, they see this natural bonding agent, this attraction is so strong. The second condition is to create your own individual awareness, your individual commitment. On Parents Day I was trying to help you do this. No matter how much I try, ultimately this is your own responsibility. Parents take care of children, but ultimately that child has to stand on his own. To stand as an ideal man you have to fulfill your responsibility and make a rededication of commitment.

This is a continuous growing process. You need to understand and to digest continually. That is the meaning behind this Principle of origin, division and union action. Understanding your individuality is important because you can then realize that you were not created to live by yourself. Heart is vital to sustain life. By understanding yourself, you can understand the importance of relations.

In the Principle, the individual has to live for the whole and the whole for everyone. Centered on this ideal standard, there is a place for everyone. In the American society, they think only of the individual, but there is no standard for this. Individuality has gone rampant.

Father has indemnified all of man's history and on this standard we look toward the next century. It is very important for us to inherit this tradition. This was the meaning of the second time I spoke to you, for you to come to the realization that you have to come to your own commitment. As an older brother I want to give you that kind of guidance. Even my own son, once I show him how to draw something, he wants to do himself. If I do everything for you, then you won't have dominion over it.

Ultimately you have to stand and have dominion, you have to fulfill the responsibility of ideal son, brother, husband and father. We want to give you the conditions to fulfill this. That was God's initial impulse, to give everything in creation. Man has to fulfill his responsibility, this is why man was given free will. If you don't have free will you cannot have free action. Why do we say love is the strongest force and has absolute value? It wants to have dominion over the most important things. I could bring Jim Baughman here, dominate him by force and he may follow for some time. But with a standard of true love, he will naturally know that I stand in the subject position and willingly follow.

If you want to take subject position, you have to have this standard of love. If you don't understand this, then Father's life has no meaning to you. This is what gives value and integrity to live. The reason Christianity failed, was that there was no ideal substantial parental standard. Jesu-nim lived an ideal standard as an individual but could not establish parenthood. I have the feeling that, "I don't mean anything, if I'm not connect to that ideal standard." In the outside world they cannot deny lineage even though they don't value it. The reason -- they are living in a manner that directly reflects a fallen lineage. Being an ideal son, brother, husband, father -that what defines the way I should act are those around me.

The third time I came to speak was to set a condition. The crux of what I wanted to say took me three days. I had to make a foundation. The essential message was true love. When you look at art, it is defined by how it captures the artist's first instinct. What is the meaning of man's life? We need to understand God's first original impulse. It was for the sake of love, to substantiate true love. For man to be the object of God, man had to have the same characteristics as God. Therefore, God gave man his divine characteristics.

All other creation is dictated by its instincts. Only man has the foundation of true love. We have to exist on the same level as God, to ultimately fulfill this foundation. If Adam and Eve didn't fall and fulfilled the ideal of parent, they would have been the ideal reflection of God; an ideal object of God. Then they could have passed this on to their children. This would have been an ideal tradition.

Man is a product of the fall; guilt was brought about by selfishness and this is individuality without understanding relationships. If Adam and Eve could have fulfilled this idea they would have experienced happiness and then there would have been a different legacy.

When you create something, your ultimate desire is for joy. You do things so it will being you joy. Man was given this creative capacity, to fulfill the ideal of God, and on this foundation man would have ultimately fulfilled happiness. Even through your own experience you can understand this Principle. Many of you are poets, musician or artists. Your creative capacity should be a reaffirmation of this Principle.

Father has established the position of True Parent, so we have the possibility to live as ideal sons and daughters. This will ultimately give you joy, happiness and fulfillment, because you are doing it. You yourselves

do it. If you fulfill that position, you can become an ideal son. An ideal son then looks at things with the eyes of the parents. He has the perspective of his parents.

You can see the ideal example of this principle: your children reflect you. That is the way of the principle. When you see reality and feel so burdened by it, it is because your perspective is wrong. I fight too with this. The world has created this tradition for 6,000 years. We who have inherited this tradition find it so difficult to change. Especially the leaders, you have to set the right tradition. Otherwise members will inherit your false standards. The role of elder brother is to live for the sake of others.

In the process of restoration, the focus is on the creation of an ideal subject. Restoration of True Parents is that important; to create a new lineage and a new standard. The subject initiates action, so the subject initiates the foundation. Father has given you tribal messiahship. So you can go out to the world and establish true dominion. Do you understand? You should be an ideal reflection of Parents. Anything else is separation and division. Father has substantiated this position. This is why all the world leaders are coming to him. Do you understand? Do you truly want to cut off all those things? Father says the most important things are invisible. Only you know where you stand. Only you know how much you have invested. Even thought you stand as an individual, your failures and lacking will affect many, many other people. You are also the connection to your past ancestors. This is why the restoration process takes place through you. You have to suffer for your parents and grandparents. You don't know the dedication they must have for you to be here now. Many times when Father comes here, he is not only giving love to you but to your ancestors and your children. The only way you can realize the position of true son is in relation to father, and then as true brother, true husband and ultimately becoming a true father yourself. The fulfillment of God's ideal is the restoration of love. Your family is the text book of love, your brothers and sisters are text books of love. Living for other is, it is like blood. Understanding Principle is not an intellectual exercise, but is the fulfillment of that standard of true love. Only on fulfilling this standard do you become a true subject. It is very clear, this is not an idealistic speech. The reason you are here is because you believe in True Parents and believe that man has a capacity to go beyond the level which this fallen world has reached so far. Your original mind strives for love, even in the fallen world they are striving for love. You have inherited this tradition. In addition, you have seen this supreme being, totally sacrificing for you. In the life outside the Unification Church, parents disowned their children. But we have this ideal standard of love. The natural desire of a parent is for their sons and daughters to be greater than they are.

You are the best judge of yourself. I don't need to judge you. How much have you been working? How much have you been sacrificing? You have to save your brothers and sisters, for the sake of an ideal family. You are sons and daughters, and you have to earn that right of sonship, brothership, husbandhood and parenthood. Why did God make it that way? So you can have the right of true dominion. If you want to give value to our Parent's suffering, you have to inherit their tradition. It is not an easy course. It is not easy when someone does something wrong. You can easily say, "I want justice." But is this the tradition God has set? You have to live for others, no matter how much suffering, ridicule, persecution comes to you. This is the tradition of God. This gives meaning to live. You have to inherit this standard, otherwise there will be separation. Many times father talks about husband and wife relationships. A true husband wants to live for the sake of his wife. The product of living for others is not pain, regret or sorrow, but happiness. The reason you may feel pain is because of the wrong perspective. If you understand, raise your hand. As ideal sons and daughters you have to inherit this tradition.

Conflict in the subject-object relationship is because no one wants to be object. It is established on the wrong foundation. Many of you are Americans, what made you subjugate yourself to this fallen standard? That is tradition. But you have to break down these barriers. Father has broken down these barriers. We only have to substantiate his example. This is the meaning of tribal messiah. So you can stand as an ideal reflection of God, establish your own Four Position Foundation. This kind of foundation established on true love will last for eternity, any other foundation will never last. This is a difficult course, but it is a worthwhile course. Don't be satisfied with quick fixes. You have to work hard, then your foundation will have eternal value. Physical life is actually preparation for death. You can die without regret by living for the sake of others. By understanding this tradition, you can make it on your own, you will achieve it. You don't really

know how much of an impact you have, you don't know your own capacity. The capacity to share is the nature of true love. In the past you were so concerned about the world around you. We have five spiritual senses, but why is it so difficult to see spiritually? Because you ignore these spiritual senses and are cut off from this world. Give each other strength and support each other. When I come here you give me strength.

Get rid of all your past things. True love is love without strings attached. Father is 72 years old. As an ideal son and daughter you what to help them to live to their fullness. You want to make things easier for them, not to add burdens to them. Don't underestimate yourself. You are capable of doing it, you have that infinite capacity within you. Many times I just want to break apart these fallen standards. Father dedicated himself to this course of restoration, many people thought Father was crazy. When God sees you, he sees you with infinite amount of hope. When you see your children, you have the greatest expectations for them. Show them that you are made of that substance. Are you a tiger baby or a cat baby? You are greater than the rock of Gibraltar. You should say, "Let any wind or wave strike me, come on!" Does a tree say, "Oh, its too windy today"? Or does the tree ask a woodpecker, "Please stop pecking on me"? The greatest delight for a parent is to see their children grown. Can you make that kind of commitment? You have to want to inherit the foundation that Father created. April is spring, a time for a new beginning. The year of 1992is the completion of Father's course. He has walked 40 years in the wilderness. The foundation has now been set. We have to nurture that foundation, like a gardener who has taken so much time to prepare the soil. Get rid of your fallen standards. It is very difficult. Sometimes I even physically hit myself. Satan get out of here! Father has been so unwavering, Satan has given up and is going to try to strike you.

If you think too intellectually it could be a problem. Satan is the greatest debater. But what moves man more than eloquent speech is heart. Satan is the most logical person. It makes sense. Don't complicate things. Father says something, but you complicate things. True love is simple, it is the shortest distance. Just ignore everything that is peripheral. In order to fulfill your own free action, you should dedicate your life to fulfill God's will. The guidance of Parents is that narrow path. In horse back riding, your balance is set by where you are looking. If you look around too much, you will loose that balance. Don't pay attention to things around you, live by this standard. You can make great achievements, look at what one man, Father, did. I want you to do greater things than me. Look at yourself, God and True Parents. Mother spoke to a very large crowd. Father and Mother were very happy. More and more the world is going to say, "Please show us the right direction." You have to be ready for that day. Now is that kind of time. This is a time of war. For an individual soldier, the reality seems to be total chaos. However to the general, things look much different. From the perspective of the whole world, things look very good. I wish I could move your hearts more. In standing I here am trying to move your hearts. I want to give you that kind of direction, that kind of fire. I'm sorry if I don't reach that standard.

14. Thirty-third Parents' Day

Parents Day 1992 (Thirty-third Anniversary)

How are you all? It's beautiful outside, a little cool but beautiful. This is the 33rd anniversary of Parents Day. I really do not feel adequate enough to explain the meaning of this day and what I should say. I talked to Parents yesterday and they suggested for me to just speak from the heart.

Substantial True Parents

What is so precious about this day? We have substantial True Parents. We are not living by some vague concept but have a clear standard and tradition that we can follow.

In the Fallen World men and women fight so much every day. There is so much disunity, crime, immorality and struggle. You must have asked yourself even before meeting the church why this world could be like this. There is constant chaos and struggle on every level between husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters. To resolve this we must go back to the Fall of Man.

When you are young children you do not care so much for the opposite sex. Boys are not so interested in girls and girls are not so interested in boys. Get away form me is the general attitude of pre-teenage boys and girls. However, as teenagers you recognize the difference and attraction of the opposite sex.

The Four Position Foundation is the blueprint of the Creation as well as the Re-Creation of Heavenly Father. You Blessed Couples have fulfilled that.

How Will You Receive My Words?

I have so many things that I want to share with you but I am worried how you will receive it. (he is quiet her for a few moments until a voice from the audience shouts Talk to us! )

I want so much to reach and inspire all of you but I feel so unworthy to do that. I very much feel my imperfection and shortcomings. However, the bottom line is to sacrifice yourself for all. When you do that all can be restored.

We must go back to Adam and Eve. True Adam and Eve are here now and have established a pure lineage. I want to speak with much more uummph to you as I did when I talked to you the last two times. However, I am hesitating because some of you took it in the wrong way.

You absolutely must be more open to receive what I am saying than you can have a much better relationship with the True Family. You must be engaged in a constant struggle to break down barriers. We in the True Family are walking on eggshells feeling that we can not speak our minds because if we do, we might offend you and we do not want to do that.

You Have A Wrong Perception Of The True Children I have had the chance to talk to you many times before (??I did not because??) but you have a wrong perception of us. You look at us with skepticism and cynicism. You compare us with people you know from the outside world. We do not come here for our own engrandisement. I Feel Like You!

As a True Child I feel like you! I feel pain and have emotions. I am here not because I want to be here. It certainly is no fun to stand here. I am doing it for you, so that you can come closer to us.

You have to earn to be children of True Parents. Just because you joined the church and call yourself a member is not enough. What does it mean to earn the right to be True Parents children? You are not a robot!

Children learn from their parents and parents instil values in their children. You must be the reflection of True Parents. But you have been programmed to think, feel and perceive in the ways of the fallen world. You must throw all of that away and be like a newborn baby, an empty vessel. Your thinking must become broader and not solely be focus on the physical.

If you perceive us True Children to be aggressive and are offended by this, you must go beyond this! Am I getting Through to you? Then let me start now and please try to receive what I have to say. I may not be able to express it properly but please listen to my heart.

God Sees Himself In Man

God created man the way He is! Why? So True Love could be shared. That is the reason why everything exist in male and female and positive and negative. There are two polarities and that means parents. There is a distinct difference between the two but not for a selfish purpose but for the sake and purpose of love. We as members of the Unification Church cherish our Parents.

I would like to share with you some rough notes of Father's speech in Korea. The title of His speech was:

The Historical Victory Of This Day

What is so special about this day? Not the day itself but the True Parents. This is the 33rd Parents Day and that reminds us of Jesus' life. Because Israel failed, True Love and peace was postponed. In our daily lives we tend to forget about True Love and God. Don't seek for material value but for True Love. Those who seek for True Love will be in the subject position in the future. You are not robots, you can choose to love God.

Father Denied Himself Most

Vertical love has no strings attached, it means to give all. People thought Father was crazy with His high ideals when He started His mission. But look at the world now, Communism is gone! Noone has denied Himself more than Father. We must emulate True Parents. The path of love is established through a Heavenly Order and Satan was soundly defeated.

True Home Town

Israel lost it's position as the chosen nation and Christianity has lost it's position as well. Where is the True Home Town? It is the place where True Parents are.

Great Britain, France, Italy and Germany should have united with Father. Because they did not, Father had to go the course of the wilderness from 1945 to 1985 plus 7 years = 1992. This is the year of the culmination of Father's course! Now the foundation to establish the Kingdom Of Heaven on Earth has been successfully established. Only good things can happen to us now. Father restored everything.

Right and Left wing started at the crucifixion of Christ with the two thieves. The right is America and the left is Russia. Barabas is represented by Islam and the Middle East.

America must really unite with True Parents. Father sent the former enemies of America, the Germans and Japanese to help this nation.

North Korea has a false father and South Korea has the True Father. North Korea and the Middle East can only be restored through True Parents and True Love. Great blessings will now come to us and True Parents will be received every where and people will bow down to them.

My Offering

I had my speech all laid out and had my points to make. But I did not feel like rattling them down, get my applause say good by and go my way.

I am offering my son to Heung Jin Nim. It is so hard to give up your son. It is so final. But that is what Father and Mother wanted. My love for my three children is so strong. Now I understand the love that Father has for us. How does Heung Jin Nim feel? He needs a son. It is hard for me and I am overwhelmed by the whole situation.

I ask for your forgiveness, please forgive me. I want to dedicate my life to Parents and I want you to do the same. All throughout history God has been sacrificing His children to lay a foundation for the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Father also sacrificed and neglected His own children for the same purpose.

Here I stand before you and feel great heaviness because I feel inadequate and unable to inspire you. You can not separate your physical reality from the providence. You should feel the same inadequacy. Get up and judge yourself by the standard of the True Parents. Father gave absolutely everything and that must have hurt like hell. Father had no perception of the self. Satan always accused Father with every step He made.

My Dedication To You

I am filled with heaviness and I can't think straight. I feel that I am failing you, my younger brothers and sisters. I want to make a dedication to you that is not just words and false promises. I don't care what you think of me, I just dedicate my life to my Parents. I don't care for money, power and riches.

I sincerely hope that you can make such a dedication as well. That is all I want and I that is all you want to do as well. I am offering myself to you. I do not care what you think of me.

God's Pain

Many times I think about God's pain. I can personalize this pain through my own. However, my pain is nothing compared to the pain of God. I am sorry, I must sound depressing to you but I want you to take an honest look at yourself. I am not here to judge you and neither are True Parents.

Some of you are especially arrogant and critical. If I ask you to do something for True Parents, you will say Yes I will do it but start complaining after two months.

You have incredible power, start using it. To change the world, you must change first. If you can't be an ideal person you can't establish an ideal family. If you can't establish an ideal family, you can't establish an ideal tribe, nation and world.

But Father has accomplished all of this for us. We have to make a change now, we must have a stronger conviction beginning now! Don't you agree? Maybe I am to idealistic. But the bottom line is the restoration of mankind. We must begin with our own restoration.

Scars of Torture

Sometimes I give Father a massage. I can see the scars that Father received when He was tortured. The circulation in Father's legs is not so good and His feet are swollen after He speaks to you for hours and hours.

We must try our best to become the reflection of our True Parents. Father has made God's Ideal and and Heavenly Tradition a reality. What about you? You must Grow up! Take the burden of restoration upon your own shoulders

I am frank and honest with you here, if you do not like it, sorry ! I want to make a change and I want you to follow me. You say yes , but is that it?

The Right Perspective

I spoke in Belvedere on April 1st and I recognise some of you here today. I talked about having the right perspective. If I walked out amongst you and sat down with you I would be deluged by too many perspectives and be hopelessly lost. But if you can with me centred on the one True Standard, we could make a difference and accomplish much.

How can I draw you to me? I can't force you. You are the lord of your own destiny. If you make a pledge to follow True Parents, it would have to be a 100% pledge with no strings attached. You would want to give yourself up for God's will, would you not? Ask yourself that question. Father is expecting much form us.

How About You?

I feel unworthy to be Father's son but I can't deny my sonship. Thus I must fulfil my responsibility. How about you? Do you feel like that? I am not satisfied with myself. How about you? You must die to yourself a 1000 times and be unconditional about it. Do you understand?

We (True Children) can't be with you all the time. You must have that kind of sense, commitment and standard within yourself. The foundation we are laying now must last for eternity. You are the future leaders and the Tribal Messiahs. We must emulate True Parents.

Let's make that conviction today on this special Parents Day. Let us be able to say before God and True Parents I am your True Son (Daughter)

Man has been shackled by Satan for too long. Those who have fought for God in the passed have been perceived as evil and eventually they failed their missions. We must go over that and be more aggressive. Even now Satan has a hold of you.

Amazing Hearts

If you could see the hearts of my brothers and sisters, you would be amazed. I do not want to leave you but I know you and I have things to do. Moon Shim Chan my son was born on March 31st 1992. I have made him an offering to my most sacrificial brother Heung Jin Nim.

Heung Jin Nim

Let me tell you a story about Heung Jin Nim. A year before He passed away Father asked me to start riding and studying. That became my focus and I had not much time to do anything else. Heung Jin Nim liked to create a heartistic bond with everyone He met. He came to me and totally gave His heart to me. I was so shocked. He totally subjugated me with His love and sacrificial giving.

If you want to be in the subject position, you must totally give with no strings attached. He was truly committed and He gave that legacy to us. This can be perpetuated only through the blood lineage. You can do that too. Then the next time we meet there will not be so many barriers to separate us and we can relate more easily together. How are you all? It's beautiful outside, a little cool but beautiful. This is the 33rd anniversary of Parents Day. I really do not feel adequate enough to explain the meaning of this day and what I should say. I talked to Parents yesterday and they suggested for me to just speak from the heart.

What is so precious about this day? We have substantial True Parents. We are not living by some vague concept but have a clear standard and tradition that we can follow.

In the Fallen World men and women fight so much every day. There is so much disunity, crime, immorality and struggle. You must have asked yourself even before meeting the church why this world could be like this. There is constant chaos and struggle on every level between husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters. To resolve this we must go back to the Fall of Man.

When you are young children you do not care so much for the opposite sex. Boys are not so interested in girls and girls are not so interested in boys. "Get away form me" is the general attitude of pre-teenage boys and girls. However, as teenagers you recognize the difference and attraction of the opposite sex.

The Four Position Foundation is the blueprint of the Creation as well as the Re-Creation of Heavenly Father. You Blessed Couples have fulfilled that.

12. Individuality and the Course of Restoration

"This is an excerpt from an unofficial transcript of the speech given on Parents' Day, 1992."

As I stand up here before you, please don't see me as Hyun Jin, I come as a representative of True Parents and True Family and my message is not mine, but the message of my family.

In order to understand our purpose, the purpose of man, we have to go back to the time of creation, the first impulse of creation was true love. God created man for the sake of love, therefore just like an artist, when he tries to create something, he has to devote every ounce of himself to create a piece of art.

I'm sure some of you are musicians; some of you have artistic ability, some of you have literary ability, and when you are trying to create something, you have to totally devote yourself to that object of creation. That is the principle of love, total conviction, total giving for the sake of the object, therefore, the first impulse of creation was that of love.

God created man for the sake of love. For the sake of love, but, in order to substantiate that love, upon that high level, eternal absolute level of God needed to give man the capacity to be able to deal as an equal, therefore, God gave man free will, upon free will, man should have been able to take free action, in order to substantiate and to reciprocate that love of God, as a true object to God. Do you understand?

But what is the truest expression of God's being? When we say, "We want to be a true object," What do we mean, being a true object? When you are an artist, you have a vision of what you want to draw. When you bring that vision into reality, if that reality is closest to that vision, then you can say: "Oh, that is an ideal word", right? Because it fulfills the truest expectation that you have as an artist.

What is the expectation that God has of man? God wants man to be a truest expression of God. That's why throughout the restoration course of history, we've always come with the understanding that man can also fulfill divinity, to be like God, to share in God's truest impulse, which is that of love. That is the meaning of man's creation, true love.

Original intent

Ideally, if Adam and Eve did not fall, in the book Divine Principle, chapter 2 wouldn't have been a problem. It's chapter 1, the Principle of Creation, that is what we would have understood, and truly that love that God intended man to receive, would have, perpetuated, and multiplied within man, and there would have been no confusion, there would have been no divergence, no separation, no disunity, why? Because true love is a truest harmonizing factor. When I look upon you,

I see many individuals. God made you to be different, you can only be a subject when you recognize an object that it different from you, do you understand? In that same way, love can only be substantiated when you recognize something or somebody beyond yourself, therefore, that is the principle. It's through Principle that all of you are different. It's through Principle that all of you have your own perspectives, your own ways of doing things, characteristics.

If true love have been our tradition that would have been the true unifying factor. And upon that foundation, you can dwell in freedom, and you can be the truest expression of God, in your own. When we look at nature we have the principle in a blade of grass, yet there are so many expression of blade of grass out there. Within the concept of love, you truly can stand as individuals, that's why, in principle, we have this understanding of the concept of the whole, but also concept of the individual.

When you look at the human body, you are made of many, many individual cells that have to interact together, that have to unite for the sake of sustaining life. In the same way, when you look at the animal kingdom, you have a food chain. In that food chain, if you take one element of it, let's say a micro-organism, away the whole chain collapses. If there were no deer for the lions to eat, then the lions themselves would die, if there were no grass for the deer to eat, then the deer and the lion would die, if there were no micro organisms to break down the dead flesh of the deer and lions, there would be no life for deer and lion to live on.

In a way, everything in God's creation is meant for unity and its truest expression of unity and how individual parts are working together in a harmonious whole. So, lets go back to the principle of creation. We said that the first impulse of creation was that of love, if Adam and Eve did not fall, what would have happened, what would have been the product, what would have been the outcome? If Adam and Eve did not fall, they would have grown up and understood that they had to be a true object of God, and in order to be a true object of God, they had to truly be the truest expression of God.

How do you become the truest expression of God? If you have the truest form of God, as we understand, we realize that God is made of dual existence, both subjectivity-objectivity, masculinity- femininity, therefore the truest expression of God is that of husband and wife, that is time of perfection. When we look at Divine Principle, we understand, indirect and direct dominion. The time of growth is the time of indirect dominion. That is the time when you have to fulfill your own responsibilities to give your life for the sake of God, just like Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve, as son and daughter of God, had to follow God's principle, follow God's direction, totally, 100% without any understanding of themselves, they had to go beyond themselves. That had to be their initial step.

Follow the way

That's why I say, "Let's get rid of all our fallen standards and truly unite with True Parents. "That is the foundation that you have to make, just like Adam and Eve had to do. Upon and only upon that foundation, could they be able to stand as husband and wife, only upon fulfilling that portion of responsibility that they had, as brother and sister. If they had fulfilled that, then the fall would have never have happened because it would have been against their nature to go against God's will.

So, that's why all throughout the restoration course of man, the restoration of True Parenthood has been crucial, because the meaning of True Parenthood is the most perfect expression of God. The meaning behind the position True Parenthood, and the creation of True Parenthood here on earth is that important, because that is the truest expression of God. God is made of dual characteristics, and therefore, mankind, which is made of male and female to be the truest expression of God, has to be united as man and wife, as an expression of God. Upon that unity, you also share in the creative nature of God by bearing fruit, children. Children are a product of love that exists between husband and wife.

Before you can really create something, you first have to have a concept, and the concept dwells within the mind. To bring it into reality, my body has to unite with my mind, which holds that concept, and bring that ideal, bring that image into reality. Same thing with music, you get inspiration; where do you think inspiration dwells? Within the level of mind, within the inner aspect of man. Upon that inspiration, you utilize, through unity of mind and body, and try to bring about that type of music that came to you as an inspiration.

Same thing, even within the position of husband and wife, there has to be that unity of love, that reciprocation of love, in order to bear that fruit. That is the Principle, that is what God had intended to be, had intended to create. But what happened? In the time of the growth stage, Adam and Eve fell, before they could fulfill their own individual perfection, before they could dedicate themselves to God, realize that their own individuality was for the sake of God's love, for the sake of God's will.

That is the Principle, that is the concept behind origin-division-union. Only upon seeing the distinction, do you realize the impulse to unite. Even while you are growing up, when we talk about a perfected self, this is what I mean, only when you realize your own individuality, and realize in the ideal sense.

This is what Adam and Eve ideally should have done, growing up together as brother and sister, they should have recognized their distinction, upon recognizing their distinction, they should have realized that they were created in order to substantiate love, in the ideal sense. Love, that is, not physical but sacrificial. Love, that in a way, initiates through sacrifice, that, as a son and daughter of God, they would have come to recognition, through God's example, do you understand? By God's creative impulse of love to create man.

Fallen inheritance

That is the meaning behind creation, that was what God intended before the fall. However, we stand here today as the children who have inherited man's fallen history. So, what happened during the fall? In Principle we find that the fall prompted by Lucifer was prompted by selfishness, greed and individuality which is not centered upon God's ideal. As I said, upon recognizing your individuality, you should be living for the sake of another object.

Only upon understanding your own individuality can you recognize the fact that you have to live for another, but instead of doing that, Lucifer, as a servant of God, who was in the position to raise Adam and Eve, looked at Adam and Eve with selfishness, seeing that God's love for Adam and Eve was truly and better, in his eyes, better than his.

Many times, as I came here in front of you, I talked to you about love, and I said: "Love is absolutely eternal", then it itself cannot come under a form of measurement, it cannot be measured, because if it is measurable, by any standard that human beings or the angelic world can conceive of, then it's not absolute eternal, love because you can see the distinction of love or the expression of love based upon position.

That is why position has been so crucial in the course of restoration, because that first act was that of a servant, going against the will of the master and initiating what God hated the most, to take away God's son and daughter from Him so he cannot fulfill that tradition of love.

Upon that failure, Eve, once again, went out of the position of the ideal being in the objective role as a woman, she subjugated Adam and as a result we see the perpetuation of that fallen act. That is what happen and as a result, the tradition of fallen man has been that of fear and guilt. That's why the most precious gift of human connection, which is the sexual organ has been lost, it has been the most vile thing, of the most hideous crimes committed by them, breaking every type of relationship that man and woman should be able to uphold.

So, what happened? God lost the subjective position, the position of subject. Because of the fall, God lost the position of subject, God lost True Parenthood, God lost the position of a true husband, God lost the position a true man, in relationship to his wife as a husband. God lost all the subjective positions, upon the loss of True Parents.

Because of the fall, the four position foundation was centered upon Satan who in a way initiated the fall through his own individuality. That has been the legacy of man's love: selfish love, that's why we call fallen man's love selfish love. Selfish love, love that fulfills only your own desire, your own wishes, for your own aggrandizement, that is what we define as selfish love. That has been the tradition of fallen mankind, because it was that act, that first impulse of Satan, that fallen impulse of Satan of individuality, selfishness, has been the tradition of mankind.

November 1991:

You are in a leadership position. You have to set a standard for others to follow. Leadership positions are so critical. I'm spending this time talking to you, not because of who you are, but because of your position. Do you understand?

You cannot judge the True Family by external standards. Instead by an internal quality of heart and purpose. People try to judge our actions, or how "they think" we should behave. This is the wrong standard to judge, instead, it should be based on heart and motivation. Hyo Jin Nim is sometimes very strong, but what is his heart and motivation? Did you ever think you would see a member of the True Family playing with guns? Do not have "concepts" about the True Family.

UTS has caused the True Parents and members of the True Family so much pain. Students, members of the church, have come here and used this opportunity to criticize True Father. There is such a bitter taste in the True Family when they talk about UTS.

(Previous Visits:)

You have to appreciate the value of the True Family. Many people have the right concept of how to behave in a family. A man, normally, would never have a sexual relationship with his own daughter (only someone who is really perverted). What we need then is to realize that we are already a family. The fact that we have True Parents, just this fact, means that we can have an awareness of how to act correctly. If people come to recognize True Parents, then their behavior will change automatically.

You must realize how precious it is that I am talking to you. But this is not for self aggrandizement.

In dealing with people like John Walker, you should have taken care of him before the problem arose. You should evaluate the situation before it becomes a problems and work to solve it. You should be that sensitive. That is essential quality for leadership.

Doug, you have to think about your children. You have to think about the future and how you will establish the correct heavenly standard in your family.

How are the Angs taking the death of David? Young Jin Nim is a pioneer. He has left his home and is studying in a boarding school. He is a straight-A student. Members should support him. Riding in the Olympics, I'm not just riding for my own fame, the way most riders are. I'm not just representing my nation, but in addition, I'm riding for True Parents and the entire movement. The pressure on me is much, much more than on any rider. I'm going for a gold medal this year! Most of the people in the equestrian competition are so wealthy, they can have anything they want. But they are also fallen. This means they can fulfill any of their fallen desires. These people are also so influential, if we can make in-roads in this part of society, we can change the world very quickly.

March 19, 1992:

We have to have an absolute standard. Before we have a critical mind and look for details, we need a principle, a standard to judge by. We need to appreciate the value of True Parents and the True Family while they are alive! I grew up without Parents. They were taking care of the members.

So many people appreciated Heung Jin Nim, after he died. He died at the age of 17 years old. But how many people appreciated him while he was living? When I see those who praise him after he died and compare their appreciation of him when he was alive... there's too much difference.

You have to have an absolute standard; this is an internal invisible quality of heart, not just an external action.

Father is a very good shot. Many people don't appreciate the blessings they have. Here at UTS, many people don't understand the blessing of being here.

To one of the staff:

You have to be more serious. You have had the blessing of serving the True Family, but if you don't appreciate it and take it too lightly, your ancestors will accuse you. Do you understand? You have to be absolutely serious to attend True Family. I don't like to tell you this and I don't tell you this because I'm a member of the True Family. I just must speak the truth, speak straight. Sometimes you are too casual. I don't say anything because I don't want to create a distance between us, but many times you are not serious enough in attending True Family.

Recreation and restoration: We don't need to recreate the world, but restore it. Already all the qualities and characteristics of being human are inside each person. But these qualities have been perverted. Many religions try to suppress original human qualities, but all these qualities, i.e. the ability to have joy, to get angry, are part of the original human being. Let's take an example of this gun. If this gun falls into the hands of a criminal, it could be used to kill someone. But it could also be used to protect someone. Original human natures are not to be suppressed, but used correctly! So we don't need to recreate human nature, but restore it, all of it. We have to be able to use all the human natures for goodness. To be in the position of a servant, is not a feminine thing. Don't think that because you are a man you cannot serve. Every man has feminine qualities, so serving is not unmasculine, it is simply part of being human.

April 6, 1992 - 8:00 p.m.

The fallen world is based on fear and guilt. But the ideal is that the individual has to live for the whole and the whole has to account for the individual. The whole creates happiness for all and only with true love this can be fulfilled. Because of the fall, in the fallen world the subject dominates the object through fear, guilt and intimidation. Someone in the subject position would have dominion over others by creating fear and intimidating that person with guilt. Restoration of the subject position is essential to restoration. The source of subject position is True Parents, because True Parents are the starting point of man's true lineage, true perception and true ideal. Through Divine Principle we can understand the true relationship between subject and object.

In Appa's recent speeches he is talking about the spiritual world a lot. He is preparing himself for the spiritual world. Through his untold suffering throughout his life he brought comfort to God. Actually our whole physical life is preparation for the spiritual world.

When Heung Jin hyung came, he told you to communicate with and support my brothers and sisters. Heung Jin hyung has many regrets. People that gave testimonies about Heung Jin don't even come close to understanding him, even testimonies that come from the second generation. I'm sure Father has many regrets. Heung Jin hyung left this world so young. He is now blessed but has no fruit, no children.

The course of a true son is to ease their parent's suffering heart. As an ideal son, I have to ease my parent's suffering heart. We (True Children) want to dedicate our lives to you (members), but you have to open yourselves up to the love of True Parents. We cannot make you open your own hearts.

Sexual organs should be the most beautiful part of the body. We have to inherit Father’s foundation. But we have different perceptions and standards; we have different level of consciousness. This is even mentioned in the Divine Principle. Even in the spirit world there will exist these different levels if they are not overcome on earth.

Heart is the one which motivates people, intellect clarifies and directs your understanding and will initiates. Intellect without action suffocates within and dies. Many old members are like this. Dedicate yourself to and live for True Parents. The very first original impulse in God's heart, even before creation, was the desire to give everything, to give Himself totally in creation. If we are to make our character in God's image, then we have to have this kind of heart.

The true leader has to be the most sacrificial. The whole creation has to say, "Yes, you are my subject." Let's say you have 20 members, even if one complains about you then you are not a leader in the truest sense of the word.

Take seriously your education here at the seminary. Set the standard for the second generation. In the future more True Children will be coming here. Leaders of the movement will be from the seminary graduates. Even Father's family has to walk this path. If the subject is bad, the relationships will be bad. This is a problem everywhere. Look at the hypocrisy of democratic leaders, and the self-serving attitude of communist leaders... We have to live our lives without regret. Life in the physical world is preparation for the spiritual world. Your ancestors will accuse you, for not giving your best, if you don't give 100%. Father might not scold you, here or in the spiritual world, but your ancestors will. Don't take any regrets with you to the spiritual world.

Because fallen man is so occupied with physical things, you cannot communicate with the spiritual world. You should be able to unite with my brother and sisters - they walked such a lonely path. They need encouragement, they are trying to live their lives in order to give hope for the future. We are not studying for ourselves. Actually I hate studying. But if we are to lead this world and we can gain external degrees, then even this fallen world has to follow.

Facts without substance means nothing. It is not important how much power you have, or your position; in order to become a true reflection of True Parents, love is subject. That is the standard of love: that the subject lives for the sake of the object. The subject must initiate love-action first. Even thought you get an "A" in the Divine Principle test, so what? It is nothing without living the Principle. You should lead a sacrificial life, live for others more than for yourself. If you don't live this lifestyle, you cannot inspire others when you teach the Principle. A sacrificial life gives life to the Principle, it gives substance to the Principle. It is like blood in relation to the body. The bones and flesh are lifeless without blood, so too the Principle is without life if there is no sacrificial life. Don't lose sight of the important things in life, spiritual first, love first, before intellectual. Father mentioned that invisible things are actually the most important. How do you show your gratitude to True Parents? You live the true standard of love. Father now is reading all his own speeches so there will be no misinterpretation in the future. Words have limitations and Father doesn't want his words to be twisted. Fulfill your responsibility and pray. How will you testify to others about me? When I heard the testimonies about Heung Jin, I realized they really didn't understand him. You have this opportunity to attend directly the True Family, but what will you tell others about the True Family? I'm concerned about this.

I am most critical of myself first. I'm more critical of myself than I am of anyone else. I know others have not fulfilled their responsibilities, because I have never felt that I've fulfilled mine. Father told me one time, his greatest hope will be to see his children grow up.

When Heung Jin came, some members said he was a nice guy. He came because for the sake of love. Don't ever misunderstand this. As an older brother, I will always be there for you. All my brothers and sisters are great. I learn things from them everyday. Even from the smallest ones I can learn so much. Even from you I can learn many things. I and my family can get strength from you. I am living for you. As an older brother I must live for you. As adopted children, you may be older physically, but you are in the younger brother's position. To be creative [speaking about Hiroshi-san's music] you have to give 100%. True subjectivity means totally sacrifice and total giving. I want you to be greater than me, this is my desire as an older brother. Father tells us this too, it is because of true love. When I'm with Kook Jin, I just want to give everything to him.

May 11, 1992:

[Hyo-Jin-Nim asked about the Japanese leadership at UTS. He asked about the Chaplain and councilors, the Korean leaders and the Americans.]

If you come to the seminary and don't gain a deeper understanding of the Principle, then why are you coming here? It has no meaning. You must understand the Principle, but that is not enough. You need a foundation in the Principle, plus experiences of God. Your experiences of God are your starting point to understand other religions. Without this starting point, you cannot even begin to understand other religions and their experiences.

First you have to have a strong foundation in the Principle. This can be the foundation for your experiences with God. In building a building, you must first be concerned with building a strong foundation. Only once this is established, can you begin to build on this. The last thing you will focus on are the small details of the interior. Father wants many of the True Children to attend UTS. You have to prepare the foundation for this to come. I will come here, now that I have more free time to complete my education.

May 13, 1992:

80% of the stores that were looted or destroyed in the LA riots were Korean owned. The police didn't fulfill their responsibility and didn't want to interfere because they felt uneasy about the Rodney King decision and didn't want to confront or antagonize the black community. The Koreans who came to America put their whole life's saving into making their business a success.

The leadership in the black community is lacking. There are no role models for young black men growing up in America. The break up of the black families is the main reason for this problem. How can a single parent, a single mother raise a child and contribute to the society. It is impossible. That's why we have a father and a mother to raise children. Boys need a male role model when they are growing up. The mother takes care of the home and the father contributes to the society. Black American women are too dominating, no husband would want to live with them. Children who are raised in single parent homes, with a domineering mother, are likely to grow up hating women, and become rapists or homosexuals. God really despises such women that dominate their husband. But husbands too, in the past have misused their position of subject in the family. Our world desperately needs the model of an ideal father and an ideal mother. I saw the film of the four black men who pulled that man from his truck. They smashed his face with a brick. I couldn't believe that one human being could do this to another human being! The family unites is the foundation for any good society, America has lost focus about this point and has placed too much emphasis on the individual.

John Walker could mistakenly think he is Heung Jin Nim because of the Unification Church leaders who have failed in living up to Father's standard. Blessed couples have failed to live as ideal couples and create an atmosphere of true love. God never wanted to create a church with so much bureaucracy, but wanted to create a family, a True Family. You can see how one person who is off-centered can create so much trouble. One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. It is Satan.

My brothers and sisters don't live for themselves, for their own aggrandizement. I want to talk to this brother. He is misdirecting even second-generation children. We have to put a stop to this. Heung Jin Nim is in the spiritual world preparing a place for Father. He is not working on earth now. Does this person who is calling himself Heung Jin Nim think that Father's children who are here on earth cannot fulfill their responsibility? Heung Jin Nim does not need to come to earth, he has so many things to do in the spiritual world, he is so busy there. I know my brother and I know this is not Heung Jin Nim. He is misusing the name of my brother! People should realize their own unique character, don't use someone else to gain recognition. Each individual is unique. True Father didn't have any encouragement from God (Father spoke about this last week). Think what would have happened if Father worked so hard and was successful all the way until the very end of his mission. Father had to be totally successful before God could recognize what he was doing. We also have to be this serious, until the very end of our mission, all the way. According to the Principle, if you fail even once, God cannot use you again. You must be that serious in your heart.

Our mission as men is to be an ideal son, ideal brother, ideal husband and an ideal father. If you fail in any one of these responsibilities, then you fail in all three. If you fail to be an ideal son to your father, you automatically fail to be an ideal brother, husband and father. The physical body had many parts, but if just one part is not functioning correctly, the whole body suffers. This is why they say a chain is as strong as its weakest link. Why do I spend so much time talking to you?

If you think it is for you personally, you are dead wrong. Everything should expand. Look at a seed. It is so small, but it wants to grow and expand. The seed of a tree expands its roots and branches. If there is just one weed in the lawn, it wants to expand and multiply. The grass too wants to spread its roots and grow. Love too must have these characteristics to be true love. The love I'm giving you is not for yourself and is not because of who you are. Love will want to go to the person who is living the most for others, because then love can expand. Everything wants to expand. I'm spending so much time with you because I'm hoping it will multiply. You must share with others and live for others.

Please realize that living for your brothers and sisters is living for your Parents. It is the same! If you want to have competition, then compete in living for others. Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much time speaking. Can you be serious about what I'm saying? Don't just share the words I'm speaking to you with others, but more important is sharing the heart. Live for others. Church members are concerned about "directions" from their central figure. But more important is developing the right heart.

Don't bow to Father or members of the True Family because it is a social courtesy. Without the right heart simply don't bow, don't do it out of habit or custom. Instead do it because you feel deep in your heart, indebtedness and respect. People think there are many ceremonies and ritual in our church, this is only because they don't have the right heart towards what these ceremonies represent.

Think about the situation if you had only one object in the whole universe to relate to. How broad would you heart be? Very narrow and limited. But when you have many objects to relate to then you can grow in many direction and become broad and wide in character. This is why we need many objects. Even True Father said he can learn from each of the True Children. Why? Because each child is a unique object to Father.

You represent your ancestors. Some members in the Church may not be such good people, yet Father loves them. Why? Father knows that even for these people to come to the Church, they had to have merit from their ancestors. So by loving these members, Father is appreciating the goodness of their ancestors. Your own actions will have very great consequences on your descendants. If you fail, then many generations will feel the consequences.

If you are preoccupied with the physical world, because it seems so visible and real, you will never have spiritual experiences. The physical world is only like a shell. Look at a seed, the essence is the kernel which you don't see. The essence of reality is not the physical world, but the world of heart. You cannot grow and change immediately. It takes time and your own effort. How long does it take you to change a bad habit? If someone keeps hitting or knocking this bad habit it is good. You have to be reminded of this habit constantly in order to change it. If someone is selfish and others criticize him it is good. He will change.

True Father is in the direct dominion of God. Do you know what that means? Do you? It means he is living under God's true love, he is beyond Satan's accusation.

You must work to establish unity between, staff, faculty and students. Don't take my words lightly. Don't think it is just me Hyun Jin Nim speaking. If you fail, I'll choose someone else.

10. Hyun Jin Moon Competes In Autumn Classic Horse Show at New Hope Farms

Hyun Jin Moon, shown mounted atop his horse Everest Forever, gave a solid outstanding performance against a formidable group of competitors in the Open Welcome Stake where he won second place

The second annual Autumn Classic Horse show at New Hope Farms in New York was held September 4 -- 9, drawing competitors from across the United States and around the world.

Among the 700 horses and 250 riders that took part were Olympians from several countries. From the United Sates were: Greg Best, double silver medalist from the 1988 Seoul Olympics who recently returned from the World Championships in Sweden; Joe Fargis, three-time Olympic medalist and member of the United States 1990 World Championship team; 1988 Olympic teammates Lisa Jacquin and Anne Kursinski, top trainer and member of the 1960 silver medal winning team at the Rome Olympics; George Morris and one of the America's most successful international riders ever: and veteran Olympian Frank Chapot. Of those riders considered the "top thirty" in the United States, twenty-seven competed at the Autumn Classic.

International noteworthy participants were: Great Britain's 1984 Olympic silver medalist Tim Grubb; Canada veteran Olympian and 1984 World Cup champion, Mario Deslauriers: France's national equestrian team veteran Henri Prudent; Mexico's Frederico Fernandez; and, most dear to our hearts, Korean Olympian Hyun Jin Moon.

During the six-day event, over 135 classes ranging from beginning to most advanced levels took place in four outdoor rings and in the indoor arena. Participants stayed in local hotels and campgrounds while their horses were sheltered in temporary stalls erected for the show. This year's show was again blessed by good weather, an impressive group of riders and horses, and the greatest blessing of all, the presence of the True Parents and members of the True Family at the highlight of the week-long competition, the $100,000 Han Corporation Grand Prix.

Honors Bestowed

During the Grand Prix opening ceremonies, True Parents were publicly acknowledged as the founders of New Hope Farms before a capacity crowd of three thousand that included other notable public figures as Congressman Benjamin Gilman and the local Town Mayor James Garvey. Veteran coach of the United States Equestrian Team, Bertalan DeNemethy, was specially honored for his lifetime contribution to the development and advancement of the sport of show jumping in this country.

The Grand Prix is the pinnacle of achievement at any horse show and draws the largest crowd of spectators. A rider and his mount have to be in top form to negotiate the fourteen jumps set at a height of five to six feet and arranged in a calculated formation designed to trip all but the most ardent of competitors. The course designer aims to eliminate all but ten to twenty percent from the first round of competition, who then return to challenge the best time. Of the 50 horses entered in the Autumn Classic Grand Prix, only five were not eliminated in the first round of this very difficult course. The winner, George Lindemann, not yet an Olympian, riding Threes and Sevens, returned to beat Olympic veteran Joe Fargis for first place.

The $100,000 Han Corporation Grand Prix offers one of the largest cash prizes awarded at a show jumping event in North America. The only other purse larger is one held at Spruce Meadows in Alberta, Canada that offers a $500,000 (Canadian currency) Grand Prix, which, unfortunately, is held at the same time as the Autumn Classic. More Canadian riders would come to the Autumn Classic if it weren't for this conflict of dates. Regardless, the very favor- able conditions at New Hope Farms are extremely attractive to riders, as evidenced by the support the show received, and most Americans prefer coming to the Autumn Classic rather than travelling north.

During the only other class in which the cream of the riders competed, the Open Welcome Stake, also the first event held in the spacious indoor arena, Hyun Jin Nim riding Everest Forever, gave a solid outstanding performance against this formidable group of competitors. He placed second, narrowly missing first place by only one second. First place was taken by Leslie Lenehan. He also beat his trainer, Beezie Patton, considered one of the top U.S. riders, who placed third.

Un Jin Nim, who had given birth a few months earlier to her daughter, had only recently resumed training and didn't compete in this year's Autumn Classic. However, both Un Jin Nim and Hyun Jin Nim will be honing their skill; and training their horses to be ready for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.

Fostering Harmony

The New Hope Farms Arena was dedicated by True Parents September 3, 1989. However, the complex is still under construction with an 80-stall barn and underground shooting range underway. Originally, this project began on a much-reduced scale as a small training center for Olympic competition preparation, but has expanded to become one of the largest indoor arenas dedicated to equestrian sport, specifically show jumping, in the United States. Completion of present construction and future plans of an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium complex will enlarge New Hope Farms into an Olympic-level pentathlon training center.

True Parents' vision in building this impressive facility is to make a contribution through athletic competition that would help foster international cooperation. Equestrian sport encapsulates several ideals and is an excellent choice.

Equestrian sport is unique in several ways. It is the only sport where success depends on the harmonious unity of horse and rider: both have to be in peak condition and sensitive to each other. Unlike most sports where the attributes of youth and of strong, flexible bodies dominates, in equestrian sport, age, maturity, and experience contribute the more important edge. Perhaps the only sport where men and women compete truly as equals, equestrian sport has also historically involved rulers and royal families around the world. In this age as well, this high profile of competitor graces the international competition arena.

Tremendous interest and support has been shown by the top professionals in show jumping and other equestrian sports, such as dressage, polo, and pentathlon. Officials from around the world have praised the facility for its well-orchestrated design, impressive size and beautiful setting. As such, many see the New Hope Farms complex as an avenue to fulfill long-cherished goals in the advancement of equestrian sports.
