Hyo Jin Moon Speaks - Belvedere Sunday Service

Belvedere, Tarrytown, NY

Here are my notes from Hyo Jin Nim’s speech Sunday 28 May 2006. My writing speed and ability to convey what was actually said are limited. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo Jin Nim said and are not a verbatim record.
Joe Kinney

All welcome Hyo Jin Nim and everyone offers a half-bow.

(This time I looked at Hyo Jin Nim when we bowed and I saw that he also does a half-bow to the audience.)

Some people have commented that my talks have been too short so I will try to speak a little longer today.

If I can’t give you something, then I don’t want to speak.

It’s a gift…(long emotional pause)

When you have to talk about stuff, there is so much chatter in the world that you have to be a dragon slayer.

To slay a dragon you have to know what the dragon is.

The dragon is the multi-media. Unless the media fragrantly breaks the law the media can say just about anything.

There is nothing in a free society that affects people as much as multi-media

They don’t sell refrigerators, or shampoo, or clothing. They fundamentally sell people.

Why do you think that I was so influenced by Western Society when I was young? Its because the multi-media has such powerful influence.

Even if you are born without original sin, you can still fall. What do you think happened in the Garden of Eden? The multi-media has so much influence.

If it can happen in a primal sense, then it can happen in reality.

Then how do you deal with that monster?

You have to know who you are and what your limitations are.

If you are so dedicated that you are ready to sacrifice your life, then you can change the world.

The rule is to follow your conscience, but what does your conscience tell you?

It tells you the basic stuff. It tells you the least that you must do. It doesn’t tell you the most you can do.

Your conscience also tells you about inheritance.

What is inheritance?

You have to grow beyond your stuff. The main thing that you have to inherit from God is eternity.

What does your conscience truly teach you in the end?

It allows you to appreciate some other something that is in front of you something that is supposedly like you.

You might not like the way that I put it…

You have to try. The struggle will never end, not as long as I’m alive.

It seems to take a long time because we have to address the essence of this stuff, original sin and fallen nature.

Before you can get into dealing with your selfishness you have to separate the extremes. (of subject and object)

We don’t know how to define what a neutron is yet nothing exists without it.

It does not matter how arrogantly that you try to project yourself pretending that you have all the answers. Without understanding the extremes you don’t know anything.

There is something inherent that brings man and woman together beyond our selfishness. Procreation and companionship.

If you are going to understand fundamental principles, then you have to understand these basic extremes.

Without this you have no strategy, no plan. You can’t be successful.

You have to understand the concept of objectivity. With out that even in the social world you will be a criminal.

You have to understand your own range, your limitations. Are you within the range of normality?

You have to figure that out. That is your problem.

Do you get angry when other people try to gage your limitations?

The other aspect of conscience that you much accept is inheritance.

I know someone that that has let the life-style of luxury change them. They live surrounded by luxury and they allowed their character to be changed because of that lifestyle.

One of the greatest addictions is power and money.

When people in significant positions hang on to things and don’t let them go this causes problems.

100 years ago people used to wipe their rear end with straw but obviously things have developed.

So we have more conveniences now, but what have we accomplished. Did we get rid of fallen nature?

In 10 generations it can happen. I believe it. I had to go through so many things just to be able to say these things to you.

(Hyo Jin Nim becomes tearful)

What you see is what you get. It is my struggle, not yours. But it’s OK. It will end well and I take peace from that.

You give and you give and you forget that you gave. You always have to think about the worst case scenario. Then you die.

Still I control it, nobody else.

Any questions?

From audience member "Is there anyone who has already passed on the really inspires you?

You (audience members) inspire me.

The only reason that I started doing this is that I lost my son.

I was blessed and started a new family. That helped a lot.

From audience member "You mentioned conscience relates to inheritance, what do you mean by that?

If you have children you want to leave them your money.

For God inheritance is an absolute responsibility. So God must absolutely inherit his love to us.

There is nothing else greater.

What is the difference between Man and animals?

Man can inherit God.

Animals can inherit you.

I don’t like to travel because places never look as good as the post cards and travel posters. America has so many beautiful places. It’s like America hogged all the beautiful spots.

How many kinds of problems do you have with your conscience? Fill in the blank.

Think about that so you won’t think that you’re so great.

You need to be more (objective) like a son not like a Father. The time when you can be objective is when you can learn from your conscience.

If God didn’t love you, He wouldn’t give you a conscience.

Your Original mind and your conscience is almost the same thing.

In the end we can win. I really believe that.

The difference between a murderer and a normal person is only paper-thin. You just have to know how to deal with your reality.

You might fanaticize about doing many crazy things, but you have to separate your fantasy from your reality.

Know what is right!

Whether I like it or not…

Do you like to be appreciated? So does everyone else under the sun.

Any more questions?

May I go now?

May I be excused?

OK

See you next week.

Bye

Convincing People That Father Is The Messiah

Hyo Jin Moon
May 14, 2006, 7:00 am
Belvedere
Unofficial Notes: Joe Kinney

All welcome Hyo Jin nim and everyone offers a bow.

Hyo Jin nim comes to the stage and there is a long pause while Hyo Jin nim looks over the crowd. There are many 2nd generation from STF.

There are a lot of young people here.

What is your greatest difficulty when you go out and try to convince people who we are?

It is to convince people that True Father is the Messiah.

Let's talk about the anti-Christ. What is the anti-Christ? Can anybody tell me what the anti-Christ is?

You have to know this to explain the Messiah.

Many members in the room offer various answers including:

Somebody that says they have all the answers but doesn't...
Someone who block people from following the messiah...
Communism...
Someone who is against human welfare...
Obstacle to coming to God...

(Hyo Jin nim can't hear someone's answer and he says) I have wax in my ear I can't hear you.

(He continues to encourage participation from the members and the replies continue for a while.)

This is your opportunity to speak.

Give me more

Give me more

Give me more

If you expect something from me because of my status (as Father's son) then you have to give me the benefit of the doubt.

One day my ear wax will fall out.

(Answers continue to come)

What the heck did that guy say? Well anyway you guys heard it.

(Hyo Jin nim's expression becomes more serious and he begins to speak again)

I believe that the best definition to the question of what is the anti-Christ is to define individualism as a concept.

The anti-Christ in its self is the concept of individualism.

It is very important for you to understand that the anti-Christ is not a person. The anti-Christ is not the Devil. The anti-Christ is the concept of individualism.

You have to understand that there is the anti-Christ in you.

Unless you address the anti-Christ inside yourself....

You have to nullify the anti-Christ inside yourself to be a moonie.

It's a concept.

The anti-Christ is a concept.

The anti-Christ is not an individual.

Trust me on this.

Trust me.

From here you have to build your understanding of the messiah.

Hey! I don't know you guys that well. OK?

But I want to give you this to build on.

If you want to fix it, then go back to what went wrong.

If you can change that concept, then you can change the essence.

I'm sure that you have a lot to say about why you don't want to be a selfish idiot.

Life is short.

Life is short.

If you can get rid of that concept (of individualism) then God will win.

Don't take your self too seriously. Remember you will eventually die.

In a sense its all about predestination.

Think about it. If it is inevitable that God will eventually win. It is finally all about predestination.

Excuse my illiteracy and my vulgarity.

Let me tell you my opinion whether you like it or not.

It's all about give and take.

It's all about learning about the true process of ontology.

I know that you can think about all these things without really trying.

The very least thing that we can do is think about it.

What do you do with your thinking? How do you make it go forward?

Do something!

Be a man!

Be a woman!

Get something done!

Animals just act to survive.

We can get away with just thinking.

Can you change the thinking of the person next to you?

Whatever you believe in, make it bigger; make it better.

Affect others!

If you want to live find something (to live for).

Then if you want to live you had better know what you want to die for.

If you know why you're living then you know why you're dying.

That is the basic premise about why you believe in God.

I don't care what you believe.

But I have to live with this till the day that I die, knowing that I have to deal with this truth.

What do you say guys? That's about it and then you die.

Every year you try to do your best and it never ends. You want to live for others. There is no other way.

What can we do together with each other? I hope that we have good people here that can do what we have to accomplish.

I don't want anything else.

It's all about communication.

It doesn't matter how it's approached or the style in which it's delivered. The only important thing is that the message is delivered.

Some people think that we need to have an Air-Force and a Navy and an Army. If you want to put it into that context, then go ahead.

If you understand the direction, then do something about it and take responsibility for it.

I know that I'm going to die, but let me die harder; let me die faster; let my death be more relevant. Can you inspire me to do that?

Why did all the young people come here all of a sudden? (Someone says that they are from STF. There were 3 STF vans parked)

I was comfortable with all the old folks!

(Addressing the 2nd gen)

Regimentation is very important. You have to train yourself.

Why? Because you live for somebody else.

You have to live this stuff that we are talking about.

It is important.

Trust me.

It is very important.

You have to do this for your own sanity and if you don't do it you will b e corrupted.

Your life is short; and you yourself have to know what it means when you say "I live for the sake of others."

You have to plan your life; know how to die well!

That is smart.

If you can do that then you can win.

Remember: The anti-Christ is not an individual; it is a concept.

Trust me.

Well...anyway.....

Nice to see you again guys!

See you next week. OK?

Dealing With Fallen Nature

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 21 May 2006. My writing speed and ability to convey what was actually said are limited. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo-Jin-nim said and are not a verbatim record.

Joe Kinney

All welcome Hyo-Jin-nim and everyone offers a 1/2 bow.

You're still (coming) here?

Today I want to share with you about dealing with fallen nature.

Where does God reside?

We talk about vertical and horizontal in Divine Principle.

So where does God reside?

(Audience member replies "in the center")

The center: You need to define the center to create a sphere.

What is the center?

That's where the fun begins because you have to talk about the extremes.

Left and right, up and down, front and back, all the extremes, relate to the center.

In the end we need a sphere.

Because I have to go to Korea soon, I'm trying to keep Korean time where day and night are opposite. So the reference point for the time of day is different.

When you see something and get inspired is there something there that causes this?

What is the difference? Something that is opposite.

Any time you have opposites you need a center. You can't have opposites without a center.

To even understand what opposites mean you need to have a center.

To understand the center you have to understand opposites.

Love and hate make for obsessions.

Even if I'm not here you still have to answer these same questions.

You could divorce me, but in the end you still have to face the maker just like me.

Finally in the end what you choose to think and what you act upon is up to you.

I know what the purpose of stuff is.

There is a purpose in all this stuff.

There is a similarity between a vacation and listening to preaching.

When you take a vacation you want to kind of relax and to be rejuvenated.

Who would want to be a preacher forever?

I'm not a TV preacher so this is not about building my empire.

So I stand here giving and you receive.

At least you should be able to protect the one(s) you love.

I've seen worse than this many times over.

I shouldn't talk about some things. I should just keep them to my self.

Sometimes I can loose it.

So be it.

But I still show up.

I don't care what you think.

I'm trying to do my best.

Some things you just have to keep it to yourself.

Anti-Christ, False prophets are all over the place using the platform of multimedia.

Selfish individualism is wrong.

Individualism is OK. Selfish individualism is wrong.

You have to find the extreme first to find the center, God.

Everything else is secondary.

You find that and you control it and move it into the direction that you want.

If you're doing the right thing, then God will bless you.

You all are her because you love me?

I'm not a politician; I'm not here to win a popularity contest.

But don't judge me, not until I'm dead.

And I won't judge you.

I know that even some kids close to me are making stupid life decisions and throwing their lives away.

I'm such an obvious goof up all the time and I actually advertise it.

Don't blame me.

You can bring your children (to attend my speeches). I won't curse anymore.

I'm talking about eternity.

Come on white people give me a break here! (Laughing)

If it's going to happen there is nothing that I can do about it.

I'll see you next week.

Take care of your selves and don't worry about me. OK?

See you next week.

Addressing Problems

Hyo Jin Moon
March 26, 2006
Belvedere

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 26 March 2006. My writing speed and ability to convey what was actually said are limited. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo-Jin-nim said and are not a verbatim record.

Joe Kinney

All welcome Hyo-Jin-nim and everyone offers a 1/2 bow.

Today I want to talk about addressing problems.

We all have problems.

Nobody here can say they don't have any problems can they?

I'm trying to find some kind of universality to use to deal with addressing problems.

I guess the way to address problems is to find some kind of absolute value on a primary, secondary, and tertiary level.

The first level is the absolutes like the laws of physics, laws and principles that cannot be changed.

The second level is the laws that we create by our intellect, like the laws of governments. These aren't as absolute as the first kind but if you violate them there are consequences.

The third level is etiquette or proper manors. For example some people get offended if I use colorful words.

Having said that, the problem is that certain individuals don't recognize absolute values on the first second or third levels.

How many of you live alone? In society, most people don't live alone. Even if you do you still must work and interact with society to live. That is unless you are like Jeremiah Johnson [a movie character who went to live alone in the mountains] living in the wilderness by yourself.

So when you talk about basic human reality, you have to consider gregarious society which creates complexity.

You might think that you're unique of special. Maybe you are, but still you have to live in society and interact with others.

How many parents think that they really know each of their kid's connection or viewpoint of reality?

I want to ask my own Father that.

How well do parents really understand their children?

To understand something you have to understand each of the components and how they relate.

If you say that you have problems that can't be solved, that is because you don't understand all the factors that combine to form the problem.

If you can understand all the factors then you can understand the problem.

Take disease for example: To create a cure for a disease scientists have to break it down and understand each component.

The same is true for changing the world.

Changing the world will take generations, so don't take your selves too seriously.

Just recently a member that I know passed away. I hope that she will have a peaceful transition and settle in quickly.

I just want you to consider that our lives are so short.

Just because you have the position of leader, you can't lead if you don't know how the people below you work. Of course a leader has to show the way.

The Peace Corps was founded in the '60s by Kennedy, right? Christian charities that do missionary work in Africa or something. Even Jimmy Carter and his Habitat for Humanity. They are all doing good work, leading by example.

You have to know your limitations, your responsibilities, your boundaries and how we relate to others.

This should come down from above. Otherwise you're just doing your own thing.

You can't change your self if you're going to pretend. You can't change the world if you don't change yourself.

You can only get better if you understand your limitations. If you understand your limitations, then you can expand them.

The things that start problems are often immaturity, selfish arrogance.

If we clearly understand each component of our problems, then we can solve our problems for our selves. We don't need to ask for God's help or for Father's intervention.

We can do it starting from this room.

You have to know your self and the people around you.

Start small, with the people around you.

You have to have life experiences, not just intellectualize.

You have to have experiences. Tell your self that these experiences are for me, for my growth.

Don't say that all these experiences are for the sake of others. That sounds so phony.

The nature of a humble man is just a man that keeps his arrogance to him self. We are all arrogant to some extent.

So if we understand our limitations and the components of our problems we can start to change our selves.

You have to do it because you FEEL it, because you KNOW it!

That something that we must do is to change our selves.

I'll be away for a month.

I'll see you in May.

I've got something to take care of.

Sorry.

Thank you.

What Hyo-Jin-nim so humbly referred to as "something to take care of" is His concert tour in Japan.

The itinerary is:

April 6th Kumamoto
April 8th Kagawa
April 11th Shiga
April 14th Nagoya
April 16th Ishikawa
April 20th Chiba

Attraction

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 19 March 2006. I am a poor note taker and I feel disappointed that I missed writing down many things because my writing is slower than Hyo-Jin-nim's speaking. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo-Jin-nim said and are not a verbatim record.

Joe Kinney

Rev Compton welcomes Hyo-Jin-nim and asks everyone to offer a 1/2 bow.

Good Morning, Please be seated.

Another day of judgment.

Today I want to talk about attraction.

A lot of people are attracted to different things. You have to understand what you are attracted to.

What are you attracted to: the physical? Mental? Spiritual?

There is always a conflict about what you are attracted to.

Everything should have some eternal connection to mind and spirit.

If you don't you are going to be lost.

If you are lost then your children will be lost.

You must talk to your children about what you are attracted to.

Don't talk for the sake of your self. Talk for the sake of someone else. (For others)

What about physical attraction, Good looking people?

People are attracted to good looking people for the sake of power and money.

If you look at social networks, power and money rule the day.

It's effective. People in the world desire good looks, power and money.

Then there is intellectual and creative attraction, attraction to virtuosity in music, or to engineering or technology.

Finally there is attraction to spiritual things. Spiritual attraction has to have eternal value. That inspiration is of eternal value.

Goodness defines what is eternally great. You have to find it. Sometimes you can see it in the actions of a little child.

Things of this nature will always resonate always have eternal value, even after you pass away.

If you have those things, then what will you do with it?

Do you have something that is attractive?

On TV people use a lot of attractive things to sell stuff.

Elections are coming up soon. The politicians will try to make themselves attractive in order to get elected.

But is it true value behind this attractiveness?

The consumer finds out the value behind this attractiveness the hard way.

We live in a society where we don't have a clear idea about what has absolute or eternal value.

Orthodox (main stream) religions don't have a clear idea about value.

Second tier (new) religions like scientology, the Mormons, or the Unification church... (Hyo-Jin-nim is smiling because this got everyone attention.)

As for the Unification church, well at least we're not waiting for anybody. He's already here. (Hyo-Jin-nim and the audience are laughing)

In the metropolis smart people show their brilliance, their excellence and try to move up the corporate ladder. But somehow that is the limit.

They don't pursue spiritual value, only materialism.

When you have the power of attractiveness you can exploit others.

That power of indulgence can be very destructive to society and others. You become exploitive and indulgent. You can't be a nice person and be exploitive and indulgent.

There is one thing that can teach people how to become better persons, by teaching them the meaning of True attraction.

You need to understand the dos and don'ts of proper attraction.

Find this out and understand it yourself first and then teach it to your children.

They need to respect you and to understand the proper dos and don'ts. You have to have it within yourself first and then you can teach your kids.

Last week I talked about team spirit.

That's the kind of things you need to talk to your kids about. Not stupid stuff.

You want to teach your kids to succeed.

It's a small thing that makes the difference between first place and second place.

Start from something true that has eternal value. Something that you believe in.

(Tears are welling up in Hyo-Jin-nim's eyes.)

Talk to your children about that.

This is how we can give them confidence to overcome temptation.

Father's expectation is that we take care of our family and educate them before we go out and do that change the world stuff.

I am grateful and I will do my best and it will all come back someday.

I want to become an attractive dad to my own kids.

See you next week.

Teamwork

Hyo Jin Moon
March 12, 2006
Belvedere

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 12 March 2006.

How are you doing?

Another day of judgment.

Today my topic is Teamwork, which is basic.

People think about teamwork in different ways.

Day traders (on the stock market) share different information with each other.

Some people gather together at church after Sunday service to rally for a particular cause.

To every one of them teamwork has a different meaning,

We can have teamwork on the physical level, intellectual level or spiritual level.

For us the spiritual level is the main thing and every thing else is under it.

To us faith, spirit, the hereafter, and dying well is the main thing.

Controlling your life and living well before the inevitable death.

Everything we are trying to accomplish and every activity we do is about that.

Some things are so tremendous and difficult that you can't do them alone. You have to expand it to the family.

You need the support base of family as the most basic foundation of team work. Before we talk about independence and independent accomplishment we had rather think of building a team.

Some things are very difficult to accomplish alone. Because we believe in something greater, we need teamwork from those that understand spiritual things too.

You can't be a team player with the ulterior motive of being selfish. If you believe in the story of Adam and Eve and of the tree of live and the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the fall in the Garden of Eden, that's great but...

The Fall of Man is just the aftermath of being selfish.

That is the absolute truth.

How do you open hearts if you don't control (contain) hell?

Even if everything was done (accomplished) we would still have to go backwards. We still have to contain selfishness.

That is the basic principle that I understand.

How do we go about this? Where do we start?

What kind of community can we make to achieve that goal?

I don't know you that well and you don't know me.

(You have to) Find the people that you can relate well with and create a community. I don't care if you focus on spiritual or intellectual or physical things, just so long as you focus on things that have absolute value. You have to know that inside your self.

Even father can't do it alone. He needs you.

(You have to) Make the team goal, process, and time frame collectively. It teaches you how to shape ideas.

For me teamwork is important because it keeps me humble.

What is the purpose of coming together? It's not for me. It's so we can all grow up together. It keeps me honest.

It is like a helmet that protects me. It is some security from falling into stupid things; like I am known for doing.

Hey I'm not perfect. Did I ever say that I was perfect? (No)

Perfection lasts for ever. It is a pure theoretical concept.

Ultimately we have to deal with the real world.

Three people that are difficult to forgive are my ex in-laws and one monkey guy.

If that's difficult to change, then how do we change the world?

Do you think that you are holy? What does that mean? Do you have lots of holes?

You can sacrifice and even go to jail for somebody, but how do you change the world. I need people to help keep me humble and honest to my heart. That's my protection.

We need a family, tribe, an army to accomplish God's will.

(Hyo-Jin-nim is becoming very emotional)

We have to have that quality of a united tribe, team, army or larger level for the purpose of changing society. Then we can do it.

In the outside world they have all the smartest people and all the resources of media and even they can fail.

We must never quit trying to change the world.

How can I believe it will happen if I don't see the stuff to make it happen? We don't just need intelligence we need SPIRIT!

If you think it's going to happen in your life time you're crazy.

(Hyo-Jin-nim is now in tears)

I see so many power mongering politicians in our movement.......

I'll be a team player too, to do what ever it takes to (accomplish God's will) to change the world.

See you next week.

How Many Are Still Serious About Going Out And Spreading The Word

Hyo Jin Moon
March 5, 2006

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 05 March 2006. I am a poor note taker and I feel disappointed that I missed writing down many things because my writing is slower than Hyo-Jin-nim's speaking. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo-Jin-nim said and are not a verbatim record.

Joe Kinney

Are you concerned about all this sectarian violence in the world?

I think that it's only going to get worse.

How did you join; why did you join?

How many are still serious about going out and spreading the word?

Father is trying to institutionalize our activities because he is getting older. In 2012 He will be 92 years old. Because of the institution there is so much politics.

We don't need to try to become 2nd rate politicians with positions in business or what ever.

How do you take care of the arrogant young member? It takes a lot of time and patience and maybe even counseling or therapy.

It takes so much just to raise one person.

What works never changes. Some things are universal truth.

Before you can claim that we are so unique and special you have to apply universal truth in your life.

You can't even sell a cookie if people don't see the value in it.

How can we prove our selves? We have to show that we demonstrate universal truth by our lives.

There are so many stories out there, members' life stories and testimonies. Some times the meaning is lost over time or in translation.

How do you prove to people that we are better when people are usually just interested in the latest fashion?

Father will be OK, but what about you?

The only solution is to practice the truth and recognize the value we have. There is no shortcut to greatness.

Even when you think about the Moslems that hate America, they have some point. But our capitalism and democracy create opportunities and freedom.

The radical Moslems just want to blow us up because of our immorality; they won't change. They want to feel happiness and joy, but violence is a questionable method.

How do you change America when freedom to be immoral is guaranteed? Religion is the only way.

You have to absolutely inspire generation after generation unendingly until we can see this change to true values i.e. permanent.

You have to start somewhere.

I try to do my best not to cross that line of taking advantage of my name to exploit opportunities to make money. I don't want to be an idiot.

Multimedia is very important. We have to use it to communicate these things. Things have come here for a reason.

Look at how Fox News has succeeded in such a short time. They just have a few character driven shows that run three times a day. O Riley, Hannity, and Greta Van Susteren influence so many people. O Riley has such huge ratings and influences so many people.

I watched a news story about a Catholic man who gave $250,000,000.00 to a Catholic cause. People aren't giving this kind of money to us. They give it to the Catholics because they are showcasing their religion.

So you all want to go to Chung Pyung now? That's funny.

At least your children can help (accomplish the mission). You guys are getting too old. You aren't dead yet. (Laughter)

If there is going to be a change, I'll bet on your children. Its good is we could do all the activities that we used to do.

When was the last year that the ICUS conference was held? (Several audience members answered)

President Bush always says the only just form of government is democracy. If that is what he believes then so be it.

We have to promote our ideas. We have to master the fundamental truth.

Do you wish a UFO would just land on the White House lawn and little green men would get out and say to the world "You have to believe in Reverend Moon or I'm going to laser you?" Anything is possible.

We have to find something of eternal value in life and make the right choices that can alter your life.

Make the right decision! Control it!

You have to find it.

See you next week.

Can True Love Be Addictive

Here are my notes from Hyo-Jin-nim's speech Sunday 26 Feb 2006. I am a poor note taker and I feel disappointed that I missed writing down many things because my writing is slower than Hyo-Jin-nim's speaking. These at most convey some sense of what Hyo-Jin-nim said and are not a verbatim record.

Joe Kinney

How are you doing? Today I am going to talk about something interesting.

Can True Love be addictive?

Can we make true love addictive?

Hey Richie! How are you doing? Long time no see. (To Richard Wolfe a former member of Hyo-Jin-nim's band.)

Is there good and bad addition? Does every human behavior result in a consequential action? Yes is does.

So what is the result of addiction?

As a concerned parent you worry about your children going out of control. The Children's argument is "How can I know my limitations if I don't test them?"

Even 80 year old parents worry about their 60 year old son. They say "Look both ways when you cross the street and like that."

How do you deal with addiction? Addiction is some kind of action that gives you pleasure, no matter how stupid or how bad. Different people are addicted to different things. Addition is part of life because we want to feel Joy, Pleasure.

So we question is it good or bad. People's pleasure is different.

In the South or Mid-West people like hunting. I used to like hunting, but I stopped because I didn't want to kill anymore. But what a great feeling killing your 1st deer together with your son.

What is True Love? It's when you can even love the Devil. True Love is God's Law, God's concept, God's will. How can you practice a concept?

You need a concept, but ultimately True Love too, must bring pleasure. So God is True Love. How do we make that concept work in our life?

How does one allow ones self to become addicted to something? You start with the need to feel something. Your goal is your expectation. You give your self a routine that matches the goal of your expectation.

You manifest some behavior which you try to make a habit. You try to become addicted to true love. When you become habituated to true love you want every action in your life to give you gratification and pleasure of true love.

There is something in between (ritual) which I will explain later.

Every kind of action can have an addiction. Power makes people crazy. Money does too. I've see so many people get just a little bit of power and they become crazy.

What is right and wrong? Before you talk about right and wrong you have to know your own addiction. You have to understand your limitation and WHY you feel joy with certain stuff.

It's easy to feel joy when you want to kill your enemy. Every pore in your body smells your enemy's blood. I beat up lots of kids when I was young. It's true it gave momentary pleasure. Kids do sports, academics, or art to prove them selves and get pleasure.

Just because you feel what you want to feel, is everything allowed? In love there is law. In true love there is true law.

Can you feel joy in doing a difficult task? It's very easy to judge, but everyone has their limitations.

If you give someone love they try to consume you. This phenomenon occurs 100% of the time. Maybe jealously or envy are involved.

Why do people become criminal? So where does it end? What is right and wrong? Certain things have certain consequences. Is there honor?

I'm trying to get back into the groove of things. It's not easy after 10 years. What you see is what you get.

(From this point till the conclusion of his speech Hyo-Jin-nim is in tears, but not sobbing)

I've had my problems. It's my fault. If it has affected you I'm sorry. I understand what I did was wrong.

I know my son is listening and I want to make a difference. If I can stay away 10 years, I can stay away forever, but I'm doing this for my reasons. I'm doing this because I feel I need to do this.

What is important in making addiction work for true love is you need some ritual, or symbol between expectation and habituation. Make it meaningful! Make it work!

Ultimately if you can make your habit acquire action, make your routine into a ritual. Make it something valuable and meaningful. Then one step at a time you can understand love. If you give someone power than they change overnight; that's crazy.

You need to be surrounded by a good community to bounce stuff off of. You have to know your limit and take your time.

It took five years to settle the Nan-Sook Stuff and in 2001 I began to write 10,000 songs.

Two 2nd generation asked me "Make me a star!" How can I invest what little I have for that? Ultimately to be a star you have to prove yourself to the world. The two 2nd generation tried and just gave up.

You have to know your limitations. It's very difficult, but I'm Father's 1st son. I cannot do things just to make money. I get a lot of flack because of what I spent.

I know what's important in the 21st century. Ecumenism, that's every thing in the end.

Do that stuff, that little stuff in your own way, and if you shine, that's great.

See you next week.
